The moon is my mother I feel her steady gaze As she watches silently Never judging She listens intently Always there she helps to teach me Lessons on self, and on love In quiet still moments and during the chaos she sits constant and comforting But unlike other parents Her lessons on obedience were scarce And her lessons on patience were extensive. She required that I question everything; including myself and Her, occasionally I begged her for answers. “Just tell me what to do!!” I’d shout at her while her kind face looked down at me. Never perturbed she would smile on me and quietly let me rant until I ran out of wind. I’d feel foolish for my anger later; always seeing her plan in the end. For the moon raises wild things; And a wild thing she has raised in me.
