hate to break it to ya motorcyclists but you look infinitely cooler with a helmet on and a jacket of some sort to prevent all your skin being stripped down to the bone in the case of an accident🫡

Make Motorcycle Safety a Kids Game
May is motorcycle safety awareness month…here is an idea to help spread awareness to the children. As we all know, all the safety gear we wear and all the safety tech on our motorcycles are just not enough at times. Awareness of motorcycles by drivers of cars and trucks is as important as everything we do. To help improve the awareness in others (and therefore ourselves) we need to start…

It’s the beginning of bike season, so this is your reminder to keep an eye out for motorcycles when you’re driving. It can be a lot harder to see them and they don’t have the protection you have in your car.
I feel strongly about this because the love of my life, my other half, my fiancé, my soulmate lost his life while he was riding his motorcycle home and someone cut Infront of him. He died of his injuries on October 23, 2022. He would still be here if the driver had paid attention and had waited 2 seconds for him to pass before she made her turn.
Drive safe, stay off your phone while driving, and pay attention. Please, and thank you.

Life is about learning.  And I have a lot to learn.  First Sunday of the month meant that it was time for my Chapter’s meeting.  After our meeting we went to a nearby school and did some cone courses to hone our skills. It was my first time running the cones on Jipci, and for the first time, I never hit a cone and never dropped my bike on the courses.  Jipci is just so light compared to my Voyager, and so forgiving.  As we picked up the cones and headed for some BBQ, my confidence was high.
After lunch, we all went our separate ways, since some were heading off to go see the new Top Gun movie and others had plans.  That meant Jipci and I were free to explore.  We were up on the Virginia, Maryland, West Virginia border and there were several roads I have never explored.
I rambled along the Potomac River taking nice dirt roads and back roads.  How have I never ridden these before?  Oh yeah - I avoid dirt roads on the Voyager.  Jipci was eating them up . . .My confidence rose even more . . .
One of the dirt roads I was on transitioned into a two track - What's a two-track you may ask?  Well it’s not a road, and it’s not a path . . .  picture a farm field with a passage way with two worn sections from where the wheels of the farm trucks rolled along and a raised center portion.  So I was on my first two-track with Jipci riding through some woods along the water in West Virginia . . . And there was mud . . . a couple of sections of standing water and associated mud . . .  On my first pass, common sense prevailed and I went to the center to avoid the mud and water on both sections that were wet and muddy.  About a 1/4 to a half mile down the track it ended.  I turned around and headed back.  This time as I approached the mud and water the voices in my head said “Go for it!”  Logic quickly intervened saying “Wait a minute!  You need new tires on this bike, you don’t know how deep the mud or water is or what’s below it . . .  . . . You’re not wearing your adventure boots “ As Forrest Gump says, “Stupid is as stupid does.”  Yeah I went for it.  The first section, Jipci ate up with no problem - It was only about 20 feet long and the mud wasn’t too deep, the water only about 4 inches deep.  I was smiling big time as I came out the other side and angled her towards the next one which was slightly longer.
Hiding under this mud and water was a rut which pulled me to the right edge of the two-track. With branches and bushes slapping the hand guards and my right arm I fought it from pulling me off the track and into the woods. I may have fought too hard. As the front tire cleared the hidden rut, Jipci lurched to the left, and as I cleared the mud and water and she was finding a solid footing, I over corrected and pulled her back hard right and went over on the right side . .  fairly hard.
The damage: Broken windshield extension, broken turn signal, Cracked right hand guard, scratched windshield, kick stand spring flew off (fortunately I found that!)  And one hell of a bruise on my left shin that had connected with the newly mounted lights I had just put on the crash bar.  If I had my adventure boots on instead of my combat boots, the protective front plates would have taken that hit . . . As I said I have a lot to learn . . .
The verdict: After getting her upright and riding to more stable ground, I removed the outright broken pieces and with the bike on the center stand, zip tied the kickstand in the up position before riding home.  Jipci ran straight and true by my “Look Ma No Hands!” test when out on a four lane divided highway.  Once home I went on eBay and Amazon, and after about $100 got all the pieces I need heading my way.  So from here, replace the parts and get the new tires mounted before I try another two-track.  As long as those damned voices don’t over ride logic again!

The Peace River Chapter of ABATE is one of the oldest chapters in Florida. Established in 1983, the Peace River Chapter has always been about supporting ALL motorcyclists in the state. From attending legislative issues at the state capital, to meeting with local lawmakers, these individuals stand strong in making a difference.
There is a dedicated group of volunteers that unselfishly work to support the causes and disciplines of ABATE. We are motorcycling enthusiasts from all walks of life. We lobby and educate the government and the general public to promote motorcycling in a safe and positive image. We endeavor to enlist the cooperation and participation of all organizations and individuals that share a similar interest in preserving our American tradition of FREEDOM.
We promote motorcycle safety, training, and political awareness. We are not a club or a gang. We fund our work through toy runs, events, and other motorcycling activities. We are your neighbors and friends who work, pay taxes, and get involved with our community. We serve and support our country and believe in freedom. We use all legal means to protect our rights without infringing on the rights of others.
Our goals: 1. To become a powerful and viable political force in legislative matters concerning the motorcyclist in Florida. 2. To promote the safe riding habits without infringing on individual freedoms. 3. To motivate the bikers to write letters to their legislators before, during and after the legislative session. 4. To furnish our members with a newsletter that keeps all bikers informed in regards to upcoming legislation.
To join the Peace River Chapter of ABATE, please attend our monthly meeting! We meet on the fourth Sunday of each month at the American Legion, 3152 Harbor Blvd, Port Charlotte, FL 33952. If you can’t make our meeting but still wish to join, fill out our membership form ABATE Renewal Form. We look forward to meeting you!
We enjoyed these fine people so much we have to promote them. It made Nik and I cry the outpouring of love for our country.
Don't give up fighting for freedom, you are not alone. We need all people to write to your senators and congressperson to listen to We the people.
Find your local chapter and join today!

Press release - 'The Hidden Factor in Motorcycle Crashes'
‘Brake for Your Life’ – Motorcycle Safety Campaign 2024 It appears that most motorcyclists cannot brake effectively. Data suggests over 50% of riders cannot even achieve Highway Code stopping distances. For car drivers, stopping in an emergency just requires the driver to stamp on the brakes even when cornering, as almost all vehicles have ABS (anti-lock) brakes. ABS has only been compulsory…

The Importance of Motorcycle Helmets: Key Points to Consider
Tumblr media
Life-Saving Gear: Statistics consistently show that wearing a motorcycle helmet significantly reduces the risk of severe head injuries and fatalities in accidents. Studies reveal a potential reduction of up to 70% in head injuries and 40% in fatalities when wearing a helmet.
Critical Protection: In a crash, the head is extremely vulnerable to impact. Helmets act as a crucial barrier, absorbing and dispersing force, safeguarding the rider's head and brain from serious injuries.
Modern Designs Address Concerns: Contemporary helmet designs prioritize safety without compromising visibility or comfort. Features like wide visors, anti-fog coatings, and improved ventilation enhance safety while ensuring riders have clear visibility and freedom of movement.
Protection Beyond Crashes: Helmets shield riders from various road elements like debris, insects, and weather. Even minor accidents or low-speed falls can result in head injuries, making helmets essential for all riding conditions.
Legal Compliance: Many regions mandate helmet use for motorcycle riders. Failing to wear a helmet not only risks personal safety but also invites legal consequences, fines, and penalties.
Personal Freedom vs. Safety: While some argue for personal freedom in helmet choice, the broader impact of riding without one extends beyond individual choices, affecting families, healthcare systems, and the community at large.
Essential Safety Gear: Helmets are not mere accessories; they are pivotal safety gear. Embracing helmets as a crucial tool for road safety is vital for protecting oneself and ensuring a safer riding experience.
It's about Arriving Safely: Prioritizing helmet use isn't just about conforming to laws; it's about arriving safely at your destination. It's a fundamental aspect of responsible riding, ensuring protection and reducing the risk of life-altering consequences.
Mandatory for Safer Roads: Instead of debating their necessity, helmets should be universally accepted as a key element for safer roads, protecting riders from potential harm and preserving lives.
Holistic Approach to Safety: Recognizing helmets as an integral part of responsible riding fosters a culture of safety, emphasizing that it's not just about enjoying the ride but ensuring a safe return home.

Keep your hands on the handlebars, your eyes on the road, and a helmet on your head, dammit!
It traumatizes me when actor/characters are filmed driving a car and they take their eyes off the road to talk to another actor/character.
But Ohm/Phukao driving his motorcycle one handed so he can hold Tu/Kongkwan's hand to his waist with his other hand totally destroyed me.
And why aren't they wearing helmets? And Tu sometimes riding side-saddle?
I know they're actually stationary and in front of a green screen but still...you're succeeding at getting me to accept they're actually riding the motorcycle and it just freaks me out to watch them doing something so unsafe.
Oh, yeah, and @wen-kexing-apologist's post on Last Twilight episodes 1-3 reminds me (it's way down the post, forgive me) Day throwing his hands in the air while riding Mohk's motorbike. Don't do that! Please!

I need new motorcycle armor!
I have a favorite motorcycle jacket, a Harley Davidson “Switchback” that is now ten years old. When I put it on to ride Howard’s Twisted Tongue, I noticed the elbow armor was broken into several pieces.

Motorcycle Clubs: The Benefits of Joining and How to Find One
Motorcycle clubs, often portrayed in movies and TV shows, are more than just a community of bikers riding together. They offer a sense of belonging, camaraderie, and shared passion for the open road. Joining a motorcycle club can enhance your riding experience in numerous ways. Firstly, it provides a network of experienced riders who can offer valuable advice and tips, making your journeys safer and more enjoyable.
Additionally, clubs often organize group rides and events, allowing you to explore new routes and destinations with fellow enthusiasts. Moreover, being part of a club often means contributing to charitable activities, giving back to the community while indulging in your passion for riding. To find a suitable motorcycle club, start by researching online forums, social media groups, or local motorcycle shops.
Attend club events or meetings to get a feel for the club's atmosphere and ensure it aligns with your interests and values. Once you find the right fit, you'll not only gain riding buddies but also lifelong friends who share your love for motorcycles. When you join a motorcycle club and start riding with a group, having the right gear becomes even more crucial. Protective motorcycle jackets, gloves, and pants, are not just accessories; they are your shield on the road. Quality gear offers protection against weather elements and, more importantly, in case of an unfortunate accident. Riding with a club means spending more time on the road; hence, investing in comfortable and durable gear is paramount. Look for motorcycle gear that provides both safety features and comfort, ensuring you enjoy your rides to the fullest while staying protected.
