When playing through Blood&Wine after finishing the main game of W3 I always end up stopping Geralt, so that I could enjoy Mount Gorgon view.
Tumblr media
The sight makes me feel happy and unhappy at the same time. This is Avallac'h's mountain and although our dear sage is not in the DLC, he might always be there in his cave where we first got to know him in the books. I wish there were a mod in which we could play Ciri and travel to the cave and meet him 💔

Emily watches "Inhumans"
Awhile ago I made a post if I should watch and recap the terrible Marvel series "Inhumans" and absolutely no one encouraged me, so I only have myself to blame for this.
My only defense is that I saw someone saying you had to watch this before Ms. Marvel. And I want everyone to know that you do not. They have changed the origin story of Kamala Khan. I've heard three reasons for this.
They didn't want her to have the same powers as Reed Richards (doubtful, his movie isn't in production yet).
They want her to tie into the story of The Marvels better (most plausible).
This is my own pet theory, and I have no proof of it. But I think Kevin Feige hates this show. Not the actors (since we've seen Anson Mount return) or the characters, but the production.
See, in the short history of Marvel Studios there has been but one movie officially announced that never made it to the big screen. That is the Inhumans movie. The release date was set for November 2018. It was supposed to be part of phase 3. But it never came.
Rumor has it that Marvel big wig Ike Perlmutter (known for hits like "no one will know the difference between Terrence Howard and Don Cheadle; Black people all look alike" and "the woman can't be the villain in Iron Man 3 because no one buys girl toys" and "a Black Panther movie is a bad idea") really wanted another superhero team to be the MCU's X-Men, and he was determined for it to be the Inhumans.
Admittedly, they are a team with powers so I can see where that idea would come from. Joe Robert Cole supposedly wrote a screenplay, but he was then moved onto Black Panther.
This was all happening during the Kevin Feige-Ike Perlmutter "turf war", which insiders have reported was because Kevin Feige wanted to make a movie about (gasp) a female superhero, and Perlmutter and his team opposed it.
In 2015, Feige won and got Marvel Studios split from Marvel Entertainment, so he reported only to Bob Iger (then the CEO of Disney) directly while the Marvel Television president, Jeph Loeb, still had to report to Perlmutter et al.
Long story short, I think this production was a point of contention. Because it was Perlmutter's baby and Feige was challenging his authority. Thus, if Feige wouldn't make the movie, it was shunted to TV since Loeb still reported to Perlmutter.
The Inhumans were also inserted into Agents of SHIELD another Marvel TV production, presumably in an attempt at brand synergy.
But some rich guy really wanting a cool superhero team doesn't mean it will happen. You need the right script and this... wasn't it. They hired Scott Buck, who did the first season of Iron Fist as the showrunner. Because that was such a resounding success? So it was probably doomed from the start.
Perhaps murdering Anson Mount's Black Bolt in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was cathartic for some folks at Marvel Studios. I certainly don't think he's bad in the role (except for the sign language stuff which I talk about under the cut). So I'd be okay with him coming back if Feige ever does decide he wants to produce an Inhumans project.
But this is the project Marvel Studios wants you to forget about. It's literally not on the Marvel page in Disney+. You have to search for it specifically and even then it's like "Are you sure you didn't mean Inside Out?" (And "The Defenders Saga" as it's now known is featured on the Disney+ Marvel page.)
I watched the first episode so you don't have to. You're welcome.
"Behold... the Inhumans"!
I should say most of what I know about the Inhumans comes from Ms Marvel comics and dumb computer games. (Gorgon was cool in Avengers Alliance and Karnak absolutely wrecks people in Marvel Puzzle Quest.)
If you can make their powers cool in games, you should be able to make them cool on TV.
That is... not what happens here.
We open in Hawai'i and my first note is "damn, hasn't Hawaii suffered enough?" A young Inhuman woman is running from masked people with guns. She is rescued(?) by Triton whose prosthetics look very uncomfortable. In Hawaii too? Seems sweaty. I hope that actor got hazard pay. Also because he is almost immediately shot and falls off a cliff into the ocean.
An alert that something is amiss goes to the Inhuman king, Black Bolt (Handsome Mount). But he's busy fucking his wife, Queen Medusa, and she doesn't let him answer it. I would hope that there would be some kind of hierarchy to the alert system so he doesn't just treat "this guy might be dead" like some random text. This advanced civilization has not thought of that.
Meanwhile a Lunar Rover is exploring the moon but it gets too close to the city of Attilan (currently located on Earth's moon). On Earth, the rover operator is surprised to see a hoof in its final video. It's Gorgon!
We are introduced to most of the group. Black Bolt, Medusa, Gorgon and also Karnack (who is played by the same actor who played Quill aka Three Inch Spike Guy in X-Men: the Last Stand so he knows of shitty Marvel projects) and Black Bolt's brother Maximus, played by Iwan Rheon of Misfits and Game of Thrones. Rheon is trying a lot harder than the script deserves.
From the jump, Maximus is like "we should invade Earth and stop hiding. My brother's plan is dumb." Everyone is like "Oh you. How silly."
Then we have a Terrigenesis ceremony which is to explain a little more about how the Inhumans get their powers. It's also important because Anson Mount wears a headband that is supposed to be a crown, I think, but it looks more like he's in a kids' karate tournament.
A girl and a boy enter the terrigen mist chambers. The girl comes out with butterfly wings and everyone is so happy for her. The boy has some kind of fit when Maximus touches him and tells him he saw Maximus with "snakes" all around.
He clearly has some kind of vision power, but everyone is like "oh he sucks send him to the mines."
That's right, the mines. The "Lower Caste Facility" is where the people with boring powers go. They have to mine for terrigen crystals, I think? While the Higher Caste people just fuck and don't answer their phones.
Maximus tells the Lower Caste Facility that he thinks they should invade Earth. They are literally standing in a ditch and can't even defeat the six or so Royal Family members so they don't seem into it.
At this point I pause it to see if this is almost over because it seems like I've been watching forever but I am only halfway through.
Karnak is very creepy to a server at dinner. I immediately want to stop using him in Marvel Puzzle Quest.
Maximus comes in to announce that Triton is dead which we would have known at the beginning if Black Bolt had answered his communicator. But also, this presumes that he NEVER looked at it since then which is just bad kinging, in my opinion.
We get some exposition that Earth's water is contaminated and it's causing the descents of those left behind (???) to transform. Black Bolt thinks they should go get them and bring them to Attilan. Maximus wants to--you'll never guess this--invade Earth.
Gorgon is sent to try to find Triton.
Black Bolt conveys to Medusa that he needs to go think, which he does in a weird concrete circular chamber, which I assume allows him to make noise without killing people? But why does he have to think there. Do his thoughts make sound?
Also, it really bothers me that they have Black Bolt using hand gestures to "speak" to Medusa but it's not ASL even though they speak English, it's just him doing nonsense hand gestures and she always says aloud what he is supposed to be signing. This would've been a cool opportunity for representation. FAIL.
Maximus creepily approaches Medusa. All the Inhumans be creepin'. She strangles him with her hair and he is like "snakes!" Get it? Because she's Medusa. He realizes the kid from the ceremony has visions of the future, which I would have guessed when he had a fucking seizure because you touched him. But the Inhumans are slow (probably because they so busy creepin').
He goes to the leader of the "Genetic Counsel" about the kid. This guy says the kid just has hallucinations. Maximus goes on his tirade about how they should invade Earth again and the Counsel member is like "Gasp! I am going to tell the king!" So Maximus has him murdered.
... which ???? He literally said he wanted to invade Earth in front of the King earlier. He also gave a speech to the Lower Caste about it. It's a secret???
Gorgon discovers that Maximus sent the people with guns to attack Triton at the same time Karnak is attacked by some guards.
Karnak's powers are so cool and they make them look so slow and lame. It's a real bummer. Grogon also kicks a guy with his boot, and shouldn't he have hooves? Clearly no one was paying attention.
Karnak sends an alert to Crystal, who I haven't talked about yet. She's Medusa's sister and she literally looks like someone spray painted her hair. It should've been a hair clip or a headdress, anyone would tell you that. And was it permanent? Did the actress have to walk around like that? If so, she should also get hazard pay.
Crystal is listening to headphones and also doesn't answer her alert bracelet!! What is it with the royal family and not paying attention during a crisis! I'm starting to think they shouldn't be in charge.
But Crystal is lucky because she is with the GREATEST of the Inhumans--the dog Lockjaw, who is really the brains of the outfit. Lockjaw teleports Karnak to Earth while Crystal goes to get her sister, Medusa.
Maximus and his guards come for Medusa and they give maybe a minute of terrible CGI hair fighting, before Maximus shaves off her hair with an hair clipper. They put this in slow motion with ~DRAMATIC~ music. And I get that her hair is power... and maybe it hurts to have it shorn but. They didn't kill her.
In fact, they just leave her weeping on the ground and go look for Black Bolt in his "thinking" room.
And I'm like, "Hey, Medusa, get a gun and shoot them." (They do have guns, the guards had them.) So like, find a weapon. Or call for help. They told you they are going to kill your husband and then left you without a guard. That's terrible coup-ing.
But Crystal and Lockjaw show up and teleport Medusa out of there.
Maximus confronts Black Bolt and we get the hilarious flashback of Black Bolt killing their parents by saying "WHY?" Then they are just splatter on the wall. But black splatter. Shouldn't there be blood? Were his parents spiders?
But before the brothers can have a show-down, Lockjaw appears and teleports Black Bolt to Hawaii.
See? Lockjaw is the best one!
Who's the goodest Inhuman? YOU ARE!
End of episode. And people watched this and were like, “yeah nailed it. The guy who wrote this should do IRON FIST next”

Fucking Outcasts.
Ron hated them. Hated how they came into his town, around his wife and kids, and had the nerve to act like they belonged? They needed to be put back into their place. His home was no place for them to be walkin’ around, showin’ off how much of an abomination they were. It was unacceptable.
But he was no idiot. He knew it was illegal because, for some unknown reason, they were considered human by law. There was no tellin’ why anyone would consider those freaks to be human, but he knew how to keep himself out of trouble. With the law, at least. So he went on his hunting trips, got out some anger, and went back home.
Now, that didn’t mean he wasn’t going to take an opportunity when it presented itself.
After all, it wasn’t every day that he went hunting and got the perfect opportunity to start fixing the Outcast problem. Surely he couldn’t be faulted for deciding to go out and hunt on a beautiful fall day. It was something he did nearly every weekend during hunting season. The sky was blue, the clouds were fluffy, and the wind created just the right draft to keep the warm comfortable. There was nothing out of the ordinary.
Until Ron saw you. Oh, his hunting trip just got so much more exciting.
He had seen you in the forest far too many times in the past. Every time, there would be another Outcast freak to accompany you. More often than not it was some small black haired young lady that looked fairly normal, all things considered. But then there would be that werewolf girl or that vampire or even that gorgon kid. All freaks, all of you far too loud and invasive in his woods. Not once had he ever seen you alone.
Well. Not once had he ever seen you alone before now.
Admittedly, he would have rather had the chance to go after the werewolf. Think of all the praise he would get for takin’ that little bitch down. It wasn't every day someone got to take down a werewolf and live to tell the tale. But you? Well, you were a trophy in your own right. He was more than happy to mount your wings on a wall if that was the gift that was given to him. After all, a monster is a monster.
Your back was turned to him as he creeped up on you from behind. There was no tellin’ what you were doin’, but he could hear you talkin’ to someone. Something about bugs, he picked up. Good, he thought, too distracted to notice. The rough bark pressed into his arm as he stabilised his rifle against the limb, aiming directly at your left shoulder. The moment he saw the phone in your hand, he gently squeezed the trigger.
His first shot was a little high. With the ease of a practiced hunter, he cleared the round from the chamber. A slight jolt of adrenaline coursed through his veins when you lifted your phone up and he could see the bullet stuck in the case. What look did you have on your face, he wondered. Were you even aware you were being hunted? The next round was chambered and his aim was lowered before you even finished putting the phone back in your pocket.
The slight jolt of adrenaline turned to exhilaration when he saw your body pitch forward when the shot connected with your left shoulder. His pulse only continued to race when you slowly lifted your bloody hand up, confusion evident on your face. It was impressive, at least in his mind, that you hadn't screamed. Not yet, anyway. It was almost upsetting to miss out on those screams. But then when you hesitantly turned around and made eye contact with him?
Oh, it was like seeing those pearly gates.
"Better fly, little bird," Ron said with a grin as he leveled the rifle at your head.
Oh, the thrill in his veins as he shot at the tree beside your head and heard your scream. Finally a scream, and oh what a delicious sound it was. The way your hands flew to cover your head as you ducked down? If he hadn't been so eager to play with you first, he would've killed you on the spot. But he wanted the thrill of the hunt, to see the fear seep into your very bones. Without any intention to fire, he lifted the gun and aimed it at you once more.
You locked eyes with him for only a second before darting off in the opposite direction. Even from his position he could see the blood pooling through your shirt. The cool breeze reminded him that you must be wearing at least two layers; oh, he had gotten you good.
Ron let you get a little further away before looking down the scope, his eyes following your legs. Thank God for the hair trigger as it took only the smallest bit of pressure before the shot echoed through the trees once again. Sadistic satisfaction reflected on his face as you tumbled forward, rolling across the ground clutching your right knee.
Leaves and twigs crunched underneath his boots as he stalked closer and closer. Even from this distance he could hear your pathetic whimpers in a humiliating display. He took his time loading the next round, giving you the chance to stand up.
It took another bullet into the ground beside you - he heard the groan you let out when it grazed your hip - before you pushed yourself to your feet. The half-run, half-skip you had to do was satisfying to watch. It led to a significantly slower pace, perfect for him to walk after you and still make ground.
A laugh fell from his lips as he fired and you screamed again, throwing yourself behind a tree. He knew which tree, he could see the blood on the ground where you had just been standing. If he listened carefully, he could hear your gasps from his current position.
“Little broken thing,” he said with a shake of his head. Steady fingers loaded a newly filled cartridge into the chamber. “Can’t you run better than that?”
“Can’t you shoot better than that?” You called out from behind the tree.
Ah, he thought with a smile as he lifted the rifle again. You're a Fiesta one. A single pull of the trigger and the bullet dug into the tree, sending bark flying in all directions. All it would take was one well placed shot to scare you out of your hiding spot. He had three more rounds to use as he please, it was an easy choice. Luckily it only took one more shot before you took off, finally jumping into the air.
Oh how beautiful those wings would look mounted in his trophy room. As he looked down the scope, it almost seemed a pity to clip them. They were far too stunning to damage. But hey, he had mounted damaged trophies before, what was one more?
Through the scope, Ron could see the bone at the base of your wing break under the impact, blood and feathers spewing from the wound. He didn't bother stopping his laughter as you plummeted to the ground a few hundred feet away, crashing through the tree limbs until hitting the earth.
He couldn't see you, but he could hear you. Could hear the gasping and the whimpers, the wet sounds coming from every breath you took. As much as he enjoyed the hunt, he was ready to take your corpse back home. It was a trip to celebrate.
His feet walked over the blood splatters littering the leaves on the ground until they disappeared. There was one large pool of blood to his left, but you were nowhere to be found. He looked around, eyes trailing over every possible place you could be before landing on a hollow log.
There was no way he could get in it to check, and even if he could it was far too dark. The noises of the forest were picking up as the day turned into afternoon. Cicadas screaming their song, birds chirping about the beautiful day, wind whistling through the trees. Yet, he couldn't hear your gasps.
A part of him suspected you were hiding in the hollow log. All Outcasts were cowards, it wouldn't surprise him if you were hiding like one. But his instincts told him no, it wasn't possible. The blood spots disappeared, and with all your injuries there was no way you would be able to hide it. But just to be sure…
He held the rifle to the log and pulled the trigger for the last time. Bark flew, a few pieces leaving stinging scratches on his arm; a welcome pain when it accompanied a win. Waiting for a moment for any noise that would indicate you were there. But it was silent. Only the call of the forest gave him comfort in his assumption.
"I'll find your corpse tomorrow," Ron said into the open air. "Don't fly too far, ya hear?"
Silence was his only answer.
—---
The apartment was eerily quiet as the setting sun filtered through the blackout curtains. La Llorona fell from the gramophone like a whisper, just loud enough to be heard but soft enough to caress the nerves, creating a calming sensation. It bounced off the ancient brick wall to fill every inch of the space and completely enveloped Wednesday into something akin to a trance.
A steaming cup of tea rested beside the typewriter as she hammered away at the keys. The words jumped off the page not from her genius, but from sheer frustration. They didn’t flow, they didn’t connect, and more than once she found herself typing out her internal anger towards you. Though, she supposed it was no longer internal once they were inked into the paper.
She should have rejoiced in your absence; it created the perfect atmosphere for her to write and relax. But of course you had to ruin that as well by not making noise or going about your own business in the shared space. Who would have ever thought that her exceedingly specific writing environment now included your presence?
But she would be damned if she just let you back in after that ridiculous display of yours. You had the nerve to argue with her when all she was trying to do was keep you from getting yourself killed? Did you not remember the last time you had gone out for a stroll in the woods? The scars on your side should have been enough of a reminder for you.
“You’re not going,” Wednesday said once you hung up the call with Eugene. He seemed to call you often nowadays.
“Come on, he’s got the flu and just wants some bugs to cheer him up,” you said with a cheery smile.
“Have you forgotten what happened the last time you went bug hunting for Eugene?” She asked. You blinked rapidly as your smile slowly fell.
“It’s barely mid-morning, Wends,” you said with a hesitant chuckle. “The sun is up and the full moon isn’t for another 10 days.”
“And yet you always seem to find another way to get hurt.”
She could see the muscles in your jaw tense up as you crossed your arms over your chest. The way you cocked your hip was indicative of your mood, if Wednesday couldn’t already tell from the look you were giving her. All the air in the apartment thickened as she held your gaze, nearly suffocating her under your scrutiny.
It was a small price to pay if it meant you would stay home where it was safe.
“You never think things through,” Wednesday said, “and it gets you hurt.”
“No one ever said you had to be my keeper,” you said through clenched teeth. “I rather remember you choosing that on your own.”
"Clearly you need one." She was getting dangerously close to setting you off; it was evident in the way you stood taller, your slightly ruffled wings folding closer to your body. "But I have more important matters to attend to without adding your lack of common sense to the plate."
"Well it's a good thing I didn't ask you to accompany me then, isn't it?" You snapped. There it was, the line she had crossed; it was far closer than she had thought.
"I won't be the one cleaning your wounds when you get back," Wednesday said with a note of finality. She turned away from you to look out the window in a simple effort not to meet your eyes.
"Don't worry, Addams," your venomous emphasis on her name stung like salt in an open wound, "you won't be my first call." Your voice was accompanied by the jingling of keys. "I'd hate to impede on your more important matters."
The door slammed shut.
Wednesday flinched when the phone in the kitchen started ringing. The slightest smile slipped past her defenses at the stupid ringtone you had set. The Addams Family theme song, you had said with a ridiculous half smile that vanished the moment she had slapped the back of your head. Only in the privacy of her own mind would she admit she almost enjoyed it.
She cringed at the squeak of the chair on the hardwood floor as she pushed it back. You had promised to fix it not so long ago. But there was still time, there was no hurry. Her footsteps were accompanied by their own squeaks, following her into the kitchen until she picked up the phone.
"Addams residence," she said simply. If you were there, you would've teased her for it.
"Hey Wednesday?" Of course it was Eugene. "Have you heard from Y/N lately?"
"No," she said simply, "not since she left this morning."
"Do you know where she is?" He asked. "She's not answering my calls anymore."
"Perhaps her phone died," Wednesday said in an effort to calm herself more than Eugene. "She never remembers to charge it."
"Normally I would agree, but our call was cut off," he said with a sigh. "She was showing me a bug when I heard something loud and the call cut out."
Oh. Oh, that was something. That was certainly something to concern herself over.
"I haven't been able to get a hold of her since then," Eugene finished, but Wednesday's head was already swimming.
"I'll find her," Wednesday said in a detached voice, "thank you for telling me, Eugene."
She didn't give him the chance to reply before hanging up the call and immediately pulling up the tracking app that Enid had so kindly installed all those years ago. The tracker was in that worn leather bracelet, so as long as that was still intact, she could find you.
Please be intact, she thought as the app continued to load. Her breath was caught in her throat as she waited, waited, waited until finally your location popped up. There, she thought as she zoomed in, still in the woods.
She sent a quick text to Enid before she was out the door, her feet carrying her down the stairs faster than ever. The one good thing about this little town was the proximity to the woods. It was only a few minutes away by foot, and usually made for a lovely picnic location. But now, with the sun setting and the temperature dropping, it looked intimidating. You were in there, possibly dying, and she froze.
No, Wednesday thought, an Addams doesn’t freeze. With a deep breath in, she stalked forward into the woods with a clear goal in mind. Her eyes stayed locked to the painfully bright screen of the phone, watching as your location got closer and closer. You’re too far from home, she thought when she realised the lights of the nearby town had stopped flickering through the trees.
Her jog stumbled into a stop once she reached the area you were in. She turned in circles looking for you, for any sign that you were there. Trees all around, sticks and leaves covered the ground, there were a few stumps, a fallen log. Nothing to indicate you were in the area.
“Y/N!” Wednesday shouted when, after five minutes, she still found no sign of you.
The crickets started up after her call, eliminating any chance she would have of hearing your answer. Your bracelet was here, it was right here, so where were you? Why weren’t you answering her? Every possibility ran through her mind as she spun around again, desperately waiting for a sign. Anything.
Then she heard it. Over the crickets and the wind and the sound of her own feet, she heard it. A deafening wet gasp that rang in her ears. It was a noise that stopped her heart in her chest and dunked every nerve in her body in ice water. Within an instant she was kneeled beside the hollow log and peering in.
And within that same instant, she felt the pooled blood on the ground soaking into her pants.
You were missing a shoe. That was the only sensible thought running through her mind as she tried to work your body out of the log. Blood stained her hands as she pulled you out, but she couldn’t stop looking at your bare foot. When had you lost your shoe? She blinked as she pushed your wings down so they wouldn’t get caught against the bark. Would you be so terribly upset at having lost it? She blinked again as your shoulders appeared and she could sit you against the tree stump.
There was no way she would be able to get all the blood out of your jacket, she thought as she pressed her hands against the gaping hole below your sternum. Fresh blood pooled around her fingers; deliciously warm against the cool fall air. With the hole closed, your breathing sounded a bit more complete, less like you were breathing through a wet cloth.
“Wednesday?”
Oh, Enid. She arrived just in time, it was time for you to go home. It was time for her to get you home and patch up your wounds because surely these weren’t too bad. You were resilient, this wouldn’t set you back. A few bandages, a few days of rest and you would be back on your feet in no time.
“We need to get her home,” Wednesday said when she felt a hand rest lightly on her shoulder. “She needs some rest.”
“Okay,” Enid said softly. “Okay, I’ll carry her.”
She blinked rapidly as Enid finally came into view, sliding her arms underneath you until she could lift you up. Oh, she thought, my hands are shaking. In the dark, she couldn’t see the blood staining her skin. She just stood up and turned to Enid. You’re resting, she thought when you still hadn’t moved. Just resting.
“Knew it was a great night.”
Wednesday’s head shot up at the voice; it was no one she knew. A silhouette in the dark; a tall silhouette with a gun pointed right at them. The sun might have set, but Wednesday knew a gun when she saw one. And this one was aimed with a precision that would have terrified most.
“Came out for one, go home with three,” the man continued. She couldn’t see it, but she could hear the smile. “Say goodnight, little girl.”
She expected to hear the echo of a rifle, see the flash of the muzzle, feel the sting of a bullet tearing through skin. Instead she saw electricity, heard the man scream before falling to the ground. Her eyes stayed on him just long enough to ensure he wasn’t getting back up before looking at her saviour.
“Yoko?” She asked.
“Why is it always you three?” Yoko asked. “This is exactly why I chipped all of you.”
“Call Bianca,” Enid said; Yoko nodded and made the call. It took only a few seconds until it was done and all three girls started walking back to the apartment building.
But when Wednesday passed the man on the ground, she stopped. He had mentioned coming out here for you. The hunting rifle was cocked and ready to fire, and the bullets looked big enough to cause the hole in your chest. He had come back out for you. Why had he smiled when talking? He had come out here for you.
“Wait,” Wednesday said. The footsteps stopped. “Bring him too.”
There was only the slightest pause before Yoko appeared in her view once again, bending down to toss the hunter over her shoulder. No one questioned Wednesday’s motives; they didn’t have to. Plausible deniability, they would claim. Wednesday didn’t care.
She was going to make him pay.
—---
Wednesday watched Bianca finish stitching you up with glazed over eyes; overall you had needed 57 stitches across all wounds. It was rather impressive in and of itself. Four gunshot wounds, a shattered wing, multiple lacerations. Potentially a collapsed lung, Bianca had warned.
“We’ll watch for infection,” Bianca had said as she cleaned her hands, “and we can take her to an Outcast doctor in the morning.”
In the morning. That was nine hours away; plenty of time for Wednesday to have her fun. Only when she had finished making sure you were comfortable did she make her way down to the basement. None of the gang even attempted to stop her; they all knew it was of no use.
The hunter’s muffled screams could be heard from the moment she opened the basement door. It sent a jolt through her veins as she walked closer. To see him tied to the chair, at her mercy this time. She hoped he felt what he had made you feel in the woods.
She pulled the cloth down from his mouth.
“Not much of a hunter,” she said. “You were taken down by a little girl.”
“I took one of ya down,” he said, “and she screamed like a lil bitch.”
Wednesday’s face never changed. Not even when the world turned red and she could just imagine the screams you had let out. Had he enjoyed it? Hearing you scream, watching you run for your life? She hoped he had, because she was about to feel the same way.
Each grunt, groan, and scream she pulled from his lips did the opposite of what she had anticipated. Instead of easing her own fear, it only increased it. She enjoyed seeing him cry, felt a thrill when she saw the blood fall from fresh cuts. It was exhilarating to see him suffer.
But as the hours dragged by, all she could think about was if this was how he felt when you were at the other end of the rifle.
All it did was increase her own anger. The flash of the taser stayed longer, his screams echoed louder, the cuts got deeper. It didn’t ease her fears, it didn’t ease her anger. Her mind kept flashing images of you, bleeding and broken and dying, and he was still alive? He could have killed you, could have taken your body and no one would have ever found you.
She buried the knife in his thigh, her eyes falling shut as he screamed again. It was a pathetic scream; high-pitched and childish. The sound was grating, and she almost wished he would just shut up. Didn’t he understand that this was not going to help him? If anything, she wanted to do worse just to shut him up.
The basement door opened behind her but she didn’t dare look. The gang knew better than to come down and show their faces. They didn’t care to know what was going on. It was probably just Enid making sure she hadn’t forgotten something down there; it had happened too many times before.
“Wends.”
Oh. Her head spun, eyes wide as she saw you leaning against the doorframe. You were in nothing but boxers and a sports bra; your blood was already soaking through the white bandages. What were you doing up? You were supposed to be in bed. Someone should have been watching you, where were they? Did they not understand you needed rest? What could have possessed you to stumble down three flights of stairs?
“It’s not worth it,” you said, so softly that it hurt Wednesday’s heart.
Her mind was reeling. Why would you care what happened to him? She didn’t know what exactly had gone on out there, but you had nearly died. For all Wednesday knew, you had died; she still couldn’t believe you hadn’t bled out in the woods. He had hunted you for sport, had played with your life, and you didn’t want her to kill him?
“Go back to bed,” was all she said. But her eyes didn’t leave your frame that was sagging further and further against the doorframe. You sighed, and Wednesday watched with bated breath until you finally breathed in again after far too long.
“Just make it quick,” you said. Your eyes shifted to look right behind her; the hunter. “You should start praying.”
You didn’t leave the basement like she had wanted you to, but as you started to sink to the floor, she finally realised that you couldn’t go upstairs on your own. Any energy you had managed to muster was gone. Damn you, she thought as she ripped the knife out of the hunter’s leg. Now I have to make it quick.
She didn’t say a word before yanking his head back and dragging the knife across his neck. With the right depth and pressure, it only took a few seconds before his gurgling screams came to a stop. His blood coated her shirt and for a moment she felt dirty. Not from the act, but from his disgusting life sticking to her clothes. She would need to burn it tomorrow.
But for now, she had something much more important to attend to.
Wednesday placed the knife back on the table and rushed to you before you could fall even further. It was one of the few times she thanked your genetics for making you lighter than you appeared. All it took was a little bit of elbow grease to get you back up the stairs and into bed.
Only once you were settled did she crawl into the bed after you, keeping her distance so as not to risk any sort of injury or agitation to your wounds. Her eyes trailed over every bruise, every bandage, every stitch, every bump and scratch. You had been alone out there for hours, bleeding out and dying while she was home, getting increasingly angry with you for something that was so meaningless in the grand scheme of things.
“I’m sorry,” Wednesday whispered when you took a deep, shuddering inhale. It sounded painful, and all it did was send a knife through her heart.
Tomorrow, she could clean up her mess while you were being tended to at the hospital. But for now, in this moment, she was going to watch over you the way she should have earlier. To watch your every breath, to make sure you weren’t hurting. It was all she wanted. She could scold you for being so foolish another day. Right now, she was just thankful you were still alive. She didn’t think she would survive if anything happened to you.
Maybe she would bring out the ring sitting at the back of the closet once you were healed. Surely you would be less reckless then.

27 - Pegasus
Pegasus is a winged horse in Greek mythology, usually depicted as a white stallion. There are several versions of the birth of the winged stallion and his brother Chrysaor. One is that they sprang from the blood issuing from Medusa's neck as Perseus was beheading her, similar to the manner in which Athena was born from the head of Zeus after he swallowed her pregnant mother. In another version, when Perseus beheaded Medusa, the brothers were born of the Earth, when the Gorgon's blood fell upon her. A variation of this story holds that they were formed from the mingling of Medusa's blood, pain, and sea foam, implying that Poseidon had involvement in their making.
According to early myths, everywhere the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, an inspiring water spring burst forth. One of these springs was upon the Muses' Mount Helicon, the Hippocrene. Another spring associated with Pegasus was at Troezen. Hesiod relates how Pegasus was peacefully drinking from a spring when the hero Bellerophon captured him with the help of Athena and Poseidon. Pegasus allowed Bellerophon to ride him in order to defeat the monster Chimera, which led to many more exploits. Bellerophon later fell from Pegasus's back while trying to reach Mount Olympus, where both are said to have died at the hands of Zeus. Other tales have Zeus bring Pegasus to Olympus to carry his thunderbolts. Because of his years of faithful service to Zeus, Pegasus was later honoured with transformation into a constellation.

Alright I'm done with these "how do you play X character in D&D?" "how do you play Y concept in D&D?" especially after the ogl bullshit
HERE'S HOW TO PLAY SEKIRO IN LANCER
» Sekiro // WOLF « Outlaw, LL6 [ SKILL TRIGGERS ] ACT UNSEEN OR UNHEARD (+6), SPOT (+4), SURVIVE (+4), TAKE SOMEONE OUT (+6) [ GEAR ]
[ TALENTS ] Exemplar 3, Skirmisher 3, Duelist 2, Combined Arms 1 [ LICENSES ] HORUS GORGON 2, SSC ATLAS 3, IPS-N NELSON 1 [ CORE BONUSES ] Full Subjectivity Sync, Auto-Stabilizing Hardpoints [ MECH ] « KUSABIMARU » HORUS GORGON H:2 A:6 S:0 E:0 SIZE:2 STRUCTURE:4/4 HP:19/19 ARMOR:0 STRESS:4/4 HEAT:0/5 REPAIR:4/4 ATK BONUS:3 TECH ATK:1 LTD BONUS:0 SPD:7 EVA:16 EDEF:12 SENS:8 SAVE:15 [ WEAPONS ] FLEX MOUNT: KRAUL RIFLE MAIN MOUNT: War Pike MAIN MOUNT: TERASHIMA BLADE // Auto-Stabilizing Hardpoints [ SYSTEMS ] JÄGER KUNST II, Mimic Mesh, Rapid Burst Jump Jet System
This build is focused on using the Gorgon's Gaze trait in order to take a stupid amount of reactions each turn, specifically with Duelist lvl2 and Jager Kunst 2 to reduce incoming damage and force sword clashes (which you'll win more often than not with your +6 agility)
Jump Jets give you high mobility, Kraul Rifle lets you hook to distant enemies and pull yourself to them, and Mimic Mesh allows you to close gaps when trying to defend a specific ally (such as our sweet boy Kuro)
Once engaged use Exemplar lvl3 to challenge your target to a duel to the death, and switch Terashima Blade into Lord's Stance so you can start deflecting bullets and knocking enemies to the ground
If the enemy tries to back away from you follow after them with your Prosthetic Spear (War Pike) with an Overwatch reaction
Remember that enemies who roll 1 or 2 trying to hit the Gorgon immediately get posture broken (stunned)
Once the enemy is stunned finish them off by switching your Terashima Blade into Troll's Stance and dealing high armor penetrating damage, following it up with a Jager Kunst Fatal Clash for a proper Shinobi Execution

I notice that there's a sudden insurgence of statements from... Elsewhere, for the lack of a better word. Not from this universe, but, thanks to the crack in reality, other universes. I managed to fish out some more of these statements. The main color should indicate which entity is the most present at that statement.
Shut In - Statement of Sunny, surname not given, regarding four years spent in isolation (OMORI - Sunny; Lonely, Spiral, Dark (a bit))
Devil’s Footprints - Statement of Shinra Kusakabe, regarding the supposed loss of his family (Fire Force - White Clads; Desolation)
Big Boo’s Haunt - Statement of Luigi Martinetti, regarding a mansion that he won from a lottery (Luigi's Mansion - The Mansion in general; Dark, End)
Meat Grinder - Statement of Yuji Itadori, regarding one of several events in Shibuya, Tokyo on October 31st, 2018, and the demon residing within him (Jujutsu Kaisen - Ryomen Sukuna; Slaughter, Desolation)
Earth is Blue - Statement of the entity calling himself ‘Major Tom’, regarding his experience as an astronaut and outer space itself (David Bowie - Major Tom; Vast)
Tighter and Tighter - Statement of Owaki, surname not given, regarding the geographical features of Mount Amigara (The Enigma of Amigara Fault - Mount Amigara; Buried)
Impostor - Statement of R.J. MacReady, regarding his time on a research lab in the Antarctic (The Thing - The Thing; Stranger, Flesh)
Black Blood - Statement of Maka Albarn, regarding the increasingly concerning behavior of her ex-classmate (Soul Eater - Crona Gorgon; Spiral, Web)
Immanis Colosseus - Anonymous statement, regarding a national park that was closed down and its contents (Mystery Flesh Pit National Park - Permian Basin Superorganism; Flesh)
Refraction - Anonymous statement, regarding evolution and mutation (Annihilation - The Shimmer; Extinction)
Maybe it's a coincidence, or maybe it's simply the Mother of Puppets spinning a thread onto the story's fabric, as spiders are meant to. I hope these may be of interest, archivist

Horus Gorgon
The Gorgon is unique among HORUS pattern groups in that it prioritizes defensive systems meant to ensure personal and allied survival; otherwise, it fields a typical complement of horrifying, confusing, and uncanny weapons. The typical Gorgon mounts multiple weapon systems meant to identify and intercept incoming enemies, allowing pilots to project a zone of control around themselves and their allies. The Gorgon is feared for its ability to extrude a dangerous memetic “basilisk”, a projected light-cone of anticognitive, hyperfractal visual data that is deadly to ontologic, sapient beings.

Nico: Hello. I'm Nico. This is the Mount Olympus press briefing room. I'll just say this and get it out of the way. I'm really not thrilled to be here, but I've been told that I have to devote time to press conferences, so... first question.
Gorgon Satellite TV spokesperson: Mr. Di Angelo, you've been appointed ambassador to Olympus. Your father must be proud?
Nico: No, not really. We demigods are kind of just expected to do all this crap that we get thrown on us. We're lucky if our divine parents check in on us once every ten years. I just happen to be a little luckier than some. Hades rarely prevents his children from entering the underworld to visit him. Next!
Cyclopes Worldwide Network spokesperson: Mr. Di Angelo, the central plains are currently experiencing a wave of diseased crops. What is your proposal on a solution?
Nico: Burn all the fields. That's the only sure way to wipe out crop disease. Next!
Demigods Advocacy spokesperson: Mr. Di Angelo, sir. What would you say is the solution if camp meals aren't sufficient in nutrition for demigods?
Nico: Depends. Give an example.
Spokesperson: Like there isn't enough fiber or protein in the meals.
Nico: Prune juice smoothies and Heinz vegetarian baked beans. Next!
Stygian Network spokesperson: We've noticed you like black, sir. That black suit you're wearing with a black undershirt and a black tie is very distinctive. Care to explain your preference?
Nico: (cracks the slightest trace of a smile for the first time during the interview)
Nico: My boyfriend likes me in black... even if he'll never admit it. Next question.
Hephaestus TV spokesperson: Mr. Di Angelo, would you say that you identify as goth, or emo?
(Nico's smile vanishes)
Nico:
Nico: Get out!

X: Are You Serious? Right in Front of My Salad?
I wake up with a start. My mouth is dry as if I've been running for hours. I just had the weirdest dream about Janus in a forest and now my mind is racing, so I get up. I leave Annabeth in Geryon's old bedroom and make my way downstairs.
Nico is seated on a tall chair in the kitchen aisle, he doesn't look up as I walk past him, but as I'm filling a glass with water, he speaks to me. "How's Lily?" He asks hoarsely. "And Michael?"
I want to ignore him, but his voice is so broken my heart can't bear it. We spoke to his sister's ghost today, and Bianca told him to stop trying to bring her back.
"You know, now that you're all grumpy, you and Lily would get along even better."
"I don't want friends," he cuts me off, voice quivering. "Just wanted my sister."
"Nico," I leave my glass on the counter and cross my arms. "I grew up in an orphanage—"
"What's that got to do with—"
"Shut up and listen," I scowl. "I didn't know how it felt to have a real family until recently, and sometimes Percy annoys me on purpose, but no one cares for me the way he and my mom do. If Bianca, your only sister, was asking you to trust us, you should've listened."
"Like how you listened to Percy when he asked you to stay put?"
I tense. "That's different. Geryon would've killed him if I hadn't—"
He interrupts me bitterly. "Percy's not your real brother, and you'll never know what a real family is. You get in everyone's way trying to be a hero."
I try not to pout, but I'm not succeeding. "That's mean."
If Nico is ashamed, I don't sense it. "It's the truth."
"You don't talk to your friends like that," I say, voice quivering. "Bianca—"
Nico gets up and exits the room hastily, speaking through gritted teeth. "We are not friends."

"...Gaea told me that she needed the blood of only two demigods—one female, one male. She—she asked me to choose which boy would die." Piper explains during the meeting.
"But neither of us died," Jason replies. "You saved us."
"I know. It's just... Why would she want that?"
"Guys, remember at the Wolf House? Our favorite ice princess, Khione?" Leo mentions. "She talked about spilling Jason's blood, how it would taint the place for generations. Maybe demigod blood has some kind of power."
"Oh..." Percy leans back in his chair looking nauseous. "Oh, bad... Bad. Bad." He turns to Hazel and Frank. "You guys remember Polybotes?"
"The giant who invaded Camp Jupiter," Hazel replies. "The anti-Poseidon you whacked in the head with a Terminus statue. Yes, I think I remember."
"I had a dream, when we were flying to Alaska. Polybotes was talking to the gorgons, and he said—he said he wanted me taken prisoner, not killed. He said: 'I want that one chained at my feet, so I can kill him when the time is ripe. His blood shall water the stones of Mount Olympus and wake Earth Mother!'"
"Jolly way of dying..." Ara mutters.
Piper makes a face. "You think the giants would use our blood... the blood of two of us—"
"I don't know," Percy replies. "But until we figure it out, I suggest we all try to avoid getting captured."
"That I agree with," Jason sighs.
"But how do we figure it out? The Mark of Athena, the twins, Ella's prophecy... how does it all fit together?" Hazel questions.
Annabeth leans on the table. "Piper, you told Leo to set our course for Atlanta."
"Right. Bacchus told us we should seek out... what was his name?"
"Phorcys," Percy responds.
"You know him?" Annabeth looks at him with surprise.
"I didn't recognize the name at first. Then Bacchus mentioned salt water, and it rang a bell. Phorcys is an old sea god from before my dad's time. Never met him, but supposedly he's a son of Gaea. I still don't understand what a sea god would be doing in Atlanta."
"What's a wine god doing in Kansas? Gods are weird," Leo points out with a shrug. "Anyway, we should reach Atlanta by noon tomorrow, unless something else goes wrong."
"Don't even say that," Annabeth shivers. "It's getting late. We should all get some sleep."
"Wait," Piper intervenes. "There's one last thing. The eidolons—the possessing spirits. They're still here, in this room."
There is nothing but silence for a few seconds before Hazel sighs. "Piper is right."
"How can you be sure?" Annabeth questions.
"I've met eidolons. In the Underworld, when I was... you know."
"So..." Frank looks around anxiously. "You think these things are lurking on the ship, or—"
"Possibly lurking inside some of us," Piper replies. "We don't know."
"Okay," Ara fixes her posture tensely. "Do you have a plan to get rid of them?"
"Yes," Piper looks at her. "I think we can fix this."
Ironic, how the skills that have proven to be handy so far are the ones she had as an Aphrodite and not the ones she worked hard for. "Okay," Ara nods with confidence. "What do we do?"
"We talk, and everyone else has to listen," her sister explains. "Your voice is stronger than mine, so it'd be better if you call out to them first, and force them to stay put."
"You're a better negotiator, though," Ara reminds her, "so you'll do the talking after I've got them in place."
"Deal."
"Girls, what are you—"
Ara hushes Jason and lifts a finger. "Be quiet, I have to focus." She closes her eyes and takes a deep breath. The girl's skin glows pink, and the dark brown has been replaced with iridescent tints when she opens her eyes. "Eidolons, where are you?"
A ripple of warm air crosses the table. Leo, Jason, and Percy sit up stiffly, their gazes are the same golden color. "Here," they speak all at once.
Frank jumps out of his seat and presses his back against a wall. Hazel covers her mouth in horror.
"You are not allowed to leave your seats," Ara tells them.
"We won't move," they reply.
Annabeth looks at the two daughters of Aphrodite with worry. "Oh, gods—Can you cure them?"
Piper raises her hand to ease her, and when she does, her palm trembles a little. Ara holds it as soon as she notices.
"Are there more of you on this ship?" Piper asks.
"No," Leo responds. "The Earth Mother sent three. The strongest, the best. We will live again."
"Not here, you won't," Piper's eyes blaze with anger. "All three of you, listen carefully. You will leave those bodies—"
"No."
"We must live."
"Then find another way," Ara glares at the Eidolon possessing Leo.
Leo's face twists into a smirk. "You are a spoiled child of Olympus. We do not answer to you."
"Mars Almighty, that's creepy!" Frank draws out his bow. "Get out of here, spirits! Leave our friends alone!"
Leo looks at him. "You cannot command us either, child of war. Your own life is fragile. Your soul could burn at any moment."
Frank manages to aim an arrow at Leo. "I—I've faced down worse things than you. If you want a fight—"
"Frank, don't," Hazel gets up, then turns to the others. "Listen to Piper."
"Daughter of Pluto, you may control gems and metals. You do not control the dead," Percy snarls.
"Listen, eidolons," Hazel spits out, "you do not belong here. I may not command you, but Piper and Ara do. Obey them."
Piper looks at Ara, the girl squeezes her palm and absorbs the fear her sister is feeling so she can speak. Piper takes a deep breath and tries again. "You will leave those bodies."
Jason grimaced. "We—we will leave these bodies."
"You will vow on the River Styx never to return to this ship, and never to possess any member of this crew."
Leo and Percy groan in protest, but their eyes are slowly changing colors.
"You will promise on the River Styx," Piper repeats, squeezing Ara's hand.
Ara shakes off the shivers she's getting from sponging Piper's anxiety, but she doesn't let go of her. "Promise!" The girl stomps her foot impatiently, and another ripple of hot air pushes out of her place on the table.
"We promise on the River Styx," the boys spit out in different levels of distress.
"You are dead," Piper continues in a steady voice.
"We are dead."
"Now, leave."
The boys fall: Percy against the table, Jason over his chair, and Leo onto the floor. "Ow!"
"Leo!" Ara lets go of Piper and circles the table, she finds Leo sprawled next to his toppled chair.
"Are you all right?" Hazel asks the boys.
"Did it work?" Leo speaks groggily.
"It worked," Piper announces. "I don't think they'll be back."
"Does that mean I can stop getting head injuries now?" Jason groans.
Piper laughs. "Come on, Lightning Boy. Let's get you some fresh air. And Ara..." she tilts her body to see her over the table's surface. "Thank you."
Ara helps Leo to get back on his feet, she dusts off her jeans and looks at Piper. "You saved my brother and my boyfriend, I should be thanking you."
"What was that thing you did?" Hazel questions in shock. "You glowed pink!"
"Aphrodite's blessing," Ara replies. "I can use those from time to time, but not often and not one after the other, it tires me out too quickly."
"You have more than one blessing?" Frank asks in shock.
"She's got four," Leo replies hoarsely, rubbing the side of his face. "Gods, doll, you could've asked my ghost to land on his butt..."
Ara grins. "We should call it a day. Y'all go to sleep, I'll take the night shift."
Everyone starts to leave, but Percy stays behind to talk to Ara and Leo. "So..." He makes a face. "That sucked. I'm sorry for... you know..."
"It's alright, man," Leo shrugs. "I would've reacted the same way if some weirdo claimed to be my sister's sweetheart and then proceeded to bomb my house."
"A real fancy way to put it, Leo," Ara scowls.
"My point is—now we can start over, right?" Leo reaches out to take Percy's hand.
Percy shakes his hand with no hesitation. "Definitely." He glances at Ara. "I know Ara can take care of herself, but... just try to be careful."
Ara feels weird about the way he says it. Her mind goes to Hazel and Frank, and how they called Leo 'Sammy' the first time they spoke to him. She thinks Percy knows something about that.
Tumblr media
Leo is checking the ship's status before ending the day. It could be done by just one of them, but he insisted and Ara refused to let go of him now that he's eidolon-free.
"Not that I'm complaining," he walks from one place to another with Ara hugging him from behind like a little kid. "But it wasn't that serious, doll. Getting possessed is kinda like the flu."
"It's not funny," Ara mumbles, squeezing his waist. "Last night he could've taken over while you were kissing me—"
"Yikes," Leo cringes. "Let's not go there."
"But it could've happened!"
"Nah," he taps the morse code for 'I love you' on the back of her hand. Leo does it without noticing, or at least that's what Ara thinks, she's never asked because she fears it'll make Leo self-conscious and then he'll stop doing it. "My Eidolon was scared of you—all bark and no bite. The reason why they felt brave enough to attack you in New Rome, was because you were caught off guard."
"Love your blind faith, but—"
Leo turns and wraps his arms around her. "No buts! You're strong, smart, and hot when you use your blessings."
Ara gets flustered and tries to step back. "Okay, I got it—"
The boy kisses her without warning. He hadn't kissed her like this in... well, probably never. When he ends it, Ara is speechless and light-headed, her soul-light glows as bright as gold. Sometimes he does things that make her doubt he's not a fidget of her imagination, the way he can make her forget everything that bothers her and all she can do is stay focused on him in just a matter of seconds.
"Talking about last night... you mentioned Hazel," he says quietly, paying close attention to how she reacts. "We're gonna talk about that, or..?"
Ara leans her forehead on his. "Do we have to?"
Leo frowns. "Yeah, think so. That girl and her boyfriend freak me out! I don't know what I did to them..."
"Percy knows, but I don't think he wants to tell me," she sighs. "You should ask them face to face."
Leo snorts. "And say what? 'Hey, are you two planning my murder?'—bet that would lighten the mood around here."
Ara rolls her eyes. "Obviously not like that! I'm sure there's a way to address this without making it awkward..." She holds his arms. "Do you think Hazel..."
Leo stares at her, and he doesn't know how, 'cause this has never come naturally to him, but he guesses what Ara's trying to ask him. "You think she likes me?" He squints. "I mean, I am more good-looking than Frank, but—"
"Leónidas!" She hisses under her breath. "I'm serious!"
"Me too!" Leo exclaims. "Okay fine, grown-up talk," his grip on her gets a little tighter. "I don't know. It's like she's scared of me or something... I'll try to talk to her if you want me to."
Ara's uncomfortable for a wide variety of reasons. Mostly jealousy, but she's having negative thoughts about a girl that she's supposed to look after, and to top it all she's Nico's half-sister. She tries hard not to antagonize Nico too much, but she's always finding ways to do so.
"I hate feeling this way." She makes a face. "When we got the celestial bronze, you guys had like... a moment. I'm still thinking about it."
"A moment?"
Ara blushes, knowing how ridiculous she's about to sound. Her eyes avoid his when she talks, they're no longer golden, but they still have power over her. "You locked eyes for a second. It looked intense."
Leo presses his lips together, stopping himself from laughing. "Hm."
"This is stupid, I don't know why I'm even—"
The girl turns to leave, but Leo pulls her close again, grinning from ear to ear. His soul-light brightens. "Arae Jackson, are you jealous?"
"No!" She exclaims indignantly. "Being jealous would mean I don't trust you and I do! I don't care if you talk to girls, I'm just—worried."
"Worried," Leo repeats tauntingly. "Sure. Whatever you say, sunshine."
Ara slips out of his grasp and hurries away. "I'm telling Frank you said he's ugly."
"Hey! I didn't—Ara—STOP!"

Deep dives into folklore: Greek mythology
Tumblr media
Greek mythology is a rich and intricate tapestry of gods, goddesses, heroes, and mythical creatures that has captivated the imagination of people for centuries. Rooted in ancient Greece, this body of myths has had a profound influence on Western literature, art, philosophy, and culture. Let's take a deep dive into the fascinating world of Greek mythology.
Creation Myth: Chaos and the Titans
The Greek cosmos begins with Chaos, a formless, primordial void. From Chaos emerges Gaia (Earth), Tartarus (the underworld), and Eros (Love). Gaia gives birth to Uranus (Sky), and together they create the Titans, the powerful and primeval beings who ruled the cosmos before the Olympian gods.
Uranus, fearing the power of his children, imprisoned the Cyclopes and the Hecatoncheires (hundred-handed ones) in Tartarus. This angered Gaia, who conspired with her son Cronus to overthrow Uranus. Cronus castrated his father, and from the blood that fell to Earth, the Furies, Giants, and nymphs were born.
The Reign of the Titans
Cronus became the ruler of the cosmos, but he feared a prophecy that foretold his downfall at the hands of one of his children. To prevent this, he swallowed each of his children as they were born. However, his wife Rhea managed to save Zeus by giving Cronus a stone wrapped in swaddling clothes instead. Zeus was raised in secret on the island of Crete.
Upon reaching maturity, Zeus challenged Cronus and the Titans in a great war known as the Titanomachy. With the help of his siblings, the Cyclopes, and the Hecatoncheires, Zeus emerged victorious. The defeated Titans were imprisoned in Tartarus, and Zeus became the king of the gods.
The Olympian Gods
The Olympian gods, led by Zeus, ruled from Mount Olympus and governed various aspects of the mortal and immortal worlds. Each god and goddess had their own domain and specific attributes:
Zeus: King of the gods, god of the sky, lightning, and thunder.
Hera: Queen of the gods, goddess of marriage and childbirth.
Poseidon: God of the sea, earthquakes, and horses.
Demeter: Goddess of the harvest and fertility.
Athena: Goddess of wisdom, warfare, and crafts.
Apollo: God of the sun, music, poetry, and prophecy.

Heroes and Their Labors
Greek mythology is replete with heroic figures who undertake extraordinary quests and face daunting challenges. One of the most famous heroes is Heracles (Hercules), known for his twelve labors imposed as punishment for killing his wife and children in a fit of madness induced by Hera. These labors include slaying the Nemean Lion, capturing the Golden Hind, and cleaning the Augean stables.
Other notable heroes include Perseus, who slayed the Gorgon Medusa; Theseus, who defeated the Minotaur in the labyrinth; and Achilles, the hero of the Trojan War, whose only vulnerable spot was his heel.
The Trojan War
The Trojan War, a central event in Greek mythology, was fought between the Greeks and the Trojans. It was sparked by the abduction of Helen, the wife of Menelaus, by Paris, a prince of Troy. The war lasted ten years and involved famous heroes like Achilles, Hector, and Odysseus. The war is chronicled in Homer's epic poems, the "Iliad" and the "Odyssey."
The Underworld and Afterlife
Hades, the brother of Zeus and Poseidon, ruled the underworld, a realm where the souls of the deceased went after death. The ferryman Charon transported souls across the river Styx to the realm of the dead. The most famous section of the underworld is Tartarus, a place of torment for the wicked.
Mythical Creatures and Beings
Greek mythology is populated with a diverse array of mythical creatures, such as the fearsome Chimera, the multi-headed Hydra, the Sphinx, the Griffin, and the Pegasus. These creatures often played roles in the heroic quests of demigods and mortals.
Legacy and Influence
Greek mythology has left an indelible mark on Western civilization. Its themes of heroism, tragedy, and divine intervention have inspired countless works of literature, art, and philosophy. The plays of ancient Greek playwrights like Aeschylus, Sophocles, and Euripides drew heavily from these myths. Additionally, the Renaissance saw a revival of interest in classical mythology, with artists and scholars exploring its themes in their works.
In conclusion, Greek mythology is a vast and intricate tapestry that weaves together the stories of gods, goddesses, heroes, and mythical creatures. Its enduring legacy is evident in the continued fascination with these tales and their impact on art, literature, and culture throughout the ages. The myths serve not only as captivating stories but also as windows into the ancient Greek worldview, exploring the complexities of the human experience and the relationship between mortals and the divine.

Disney Heroes Franchise Revival (Part 1)
Chances are most of you reading probably remember I post I made a couple of months titled "My Ideal Revival of the Disney Heroes Franchise".
In that post, I talked about the forgotten Disney franchise known as Disney Heroes and how I feel like a modern-day revival could work.
If you want to check it out, I already put a link to it above.
And for those are reading this for the first time, I suggest you check out my previous post first.
Anyway back on topic, I mentioned that was planning to go more in-depth on this franchise idea, but I procrastinated like Hell on that since I was doing other posts and being busy with college.
But now I'm ready to continue this idea of mine's that from what I've seen, you all really like.
This franchise idea is going to be multi-part, with the first few parts going over specific movies and how they would be represented in the franchise.
And so to start this off, I'll be discussing the four films that used were to kickstart the original franchise.
Hercules:
The two main representatives from this film would be Hercules himself and Megara.
As for their appearances, Herc would have his appearance from the later years of the original franchise, aka this.
Tumblr media
Meg would also be sporting a warrior look to her to fit the more action-focused tone of this franchise.
Her outfit would look a little something like this.....
Tumblr media
Personality-wise, they're the same as they were in the original film.
Hercules would still be the lovable, kind-hearted himbo of a hero, and Meg would still be sassy, witty and just all-around iconic.
As for what each of them are capable of.
Hercules still possesses his god-like physical strength and often fights with a special xiphos (that has a blade shaped like a lightning bolt) that can emit powerful electricity and an indestructible golden lion shield (both of which were forged by Hephaestus).
He's also decently skilled in physical combat, since he has both the skill and especially the strength to back him up.
Herc tends to use either a simple brawler style or Greco-Roman style wrestling.
Meg, as you would expect, is much more ready for combat than she ever was before.
She's now decently skilled in physical combat and predominantly fights with a dory (which is a type of spear used back during Ancient Greece).
But Meg's greatest strength lies within her mind.
She possesses some rather impressive tactical skills and is pretty crafty in battle.
Basically, Herc is the brawns while Meg is the brains.
Their part of the Disney Heroes franchise would focuses on them going on adventures all over Ancient Greece.
Their main adversary would be none other than Hades himself, still aided by Pain and Panic!
Essentially at some point, Hades eventually escaped from The River Styx and to say he was pissed would be an MASSIVE understatement.
Other adversaries of Herc and Meg would consist of various monsters of Greek mythology include centaurs, hydras, cyclopes, the Titans, the Minotaur, the Manticore, the Chimera, Medusa and the gorgons, harpies, Typhon, Echidna, Circe, griffins, Cerberus, sirens, the Laestrygonians, and giant beasts like the Nemean Lion and Erymanthian Boar.
As for their allies, Philoctetes and Pegasus would undoubtedly be the most prominent.
Others would include Zeus and the other Gods of Olympus, Agamemnon and the Spartan Army, Icarus, Achilles, Chiron, Odysseus and Tempest and the Amazons.
As for notable locales....
These would include cities/city-states like Thebes, Arcadia, Athens, Sparta, Crete, Troy and Delphi.
Mythical locations such as Mount Olympus, The Underworld, Atlantis, The Elysian Fields, Themiscyra, Laistrygon, Hyperborea, Tartarus, and The Garden of the Hesperides.
And there would be plenty of naturalistic settings such as forests, swamps, plains, mountains and seas.
Aladdin:
The two main representatives would be none other than Aladdin himself and Jasmine.
As for their appearances, Aladdin would have the same design he was suppose to have for the short-lived relaunch of the original franchise back in 2005.
Tumblr media
Jasmine would also be sporting an Arabian warrior look as well, which would look something like this.
Tumblr media
Personality-wise, they're pretty much the same as they were in the original films and tv series.
As for what each of them are capable of.
Aladdin still possesses is nearly unmatched cunning and wit, impressive speed and agility, and fights with a huge ass scimitar and a dagger.
Jasmine also possesses some impressive speed and agility, but is more focused on martial arts, and usually fights with a long wooden staff and throwing knives.
Their part of the franchise would be focused on them going on adventures while protecting the kingdom of Agrabah.
From who you may ask?
Well it's none other than their arch-nemesis Jafar.
As for why he's here, this ties into the over-arching story of this franchise.
You remember how I mentioned in the previous post that a major element of the overall premise of this franchise was various Disney Villains having joined forces in order to further their respective goals?
Which admittedly is a little strange since a good chunk are, you know, dead.
Well that's all thanks to Hades, who brought the villains featured in this franchise who had originally died back from the grave.
Other enemies of Aladdin and Jasmine would include Abis Mal, Haroud Hazi Bin, Mechanicles, Mozenrath and Xerxes, Destane and the Mamluks, Mirage, Chaos, Narisa, Saleen and her mermaids, the Al Muddy people, skeleton warriors, giant cobras, golden Shiva monkey statues, jackals, mummies, ifrits, living Egyptian statues, Rukhs, the three-eyed Giant, a tribe of mischievous monkeys, pirates, King Yunan and The Forty Thieves.
As for their allies, Abu, The Magic Carpet, Iago, Rajah, and of course, Genie would be the most prominent ones.
Other allies would include Scheherazade, Ali Baba, Sinbad the Sailor, Chandu, Fasir, Dhandi, Eden, Queen Thundra, Sadira, The Wizard Pharaoh Very Ankh-Amman, Prince Zayn Al-Asnam, Maruf the Cobbler, and Duban.
As for notable locales....
The kingdom of Agrabah (and its landmarks like the palace and the bazaar), along with its surrounding locations like the desert, the oasis, an ancient city, and of course, The Cave of Wonders.
There would also be other kingdoms and nations such as The Land of the Black Sand, Getzistan, Isle of a Galafems, Morbia, Odiferous, Quirkstan, Upanistan, Thundra's rainforest, The Subterranean World of the Al Muddy, Pakistan, Persia, Egypt, Jerusalem and Pei Ling City.
Peter Pan:
The main representative of this film would be, who else, but Peter Pan himself!
For his appearance, just like Hercules, Peter would have the same appearance he did during the later years of the original franchise.
Tumblr media
Personality-wise, he's also the same as he was in the original films.
As for what he's capable of.
Peter's fast and agile, incredibly cunning, possesses the power of flight, can command his own shadow, and fights with his trademark dagger, a bow and arrows, and a tomahawk.
His part of the franchise would focus his adventures and defending Neverland from danger.
And said danger is none other than his nemesis, Captain Hook.
Other adversaries of Peter would include Mr. Smee, the rest of the Jolly Roger pirate crew, Tick-Tock Crocodile, the cannibal tribe, and the various dangerous animals and creatures of Neverland.
Yeah, Peter doesn't exactly have a while lot of foes.
His list of allies is not much bigger either.
The most prominent would be obviously Tinker Bell and The Lost Boys.
Others would include The Darling Siblings, The Indian Tribe (who will be portrayed much more respectfully than they were in the original film) and the mermaids.
As for notable locales....
Peter's part of the franchise would be set entirely in Neverland.
As for Neverland itself, its notable locales would include Hangman's Tree, Mermaid Lagoon, The Never Woods, Skull Rock, The Indian Village, Blindman's Bluff, Cannibal Cove, Crocodile Creek, Marooner's Rock, Coral Beach, The Wild Jungle, The Misty Mountains, and The Never Sea.
Tarzan:
The two main representatives would be, who else, but Tarzan and Jane Porter.
As for their appearances, Tarzan, just like Aladdin, would have the same design he was suppose to have for the short-lived relaunch.
Tumblr media
As for Jane, she would wear an outfit that just screams badass explorer, ala Lara Croft.
That outfit would consist of a tan safari hat, a open green safari vest over a yellow short-sleeved shirt that exposes her midriff, green shorts, black fingerless gloves and brown boots.
Personality-wise, they're both pretty much the same as they were in the original movie and tv series.
As for what each of them are capable of.
Tarzan still possesses his near ape-like levels of physicality, skilled at surfing on tree branches, and carries a quiver filled with various weapons include a spear, a knife, a bow and arrows.
As for Jane, she's a pure brawler, using the boxing skills she learned from her father and the animalistic moves she learned from Tarzan. She does fight with a few weapons like a sling and a boomerang.
Their part of the franchise would focuses on them protecting the jungle and its inhabitants from all kinds of threats
And their biggest threat would be none other than Clayton, another one of the villains brought back from the dead by Hades.
Other foes of the duo would include Clayton's henchmen, Queen La and The Leopard Man, Tublat, Lieutenant Colonel Jean Staquait, Professor Samuel T. Philander, Lady Waltham, Histah, Mabaya, Zutho, Sheeta and Nuru and other dangerous animals like baboons, leopards, pythons, crocodiles and dinosaurs.
As for their allies, Terk, Tantor, Professor Porter, Kala and Manu would serve as their most prominent.
Other allies would include Renard Dumont, Hugo and Hooft, Moyo, Mangani, Basuli and Kiwazi.
As for notable locales....
The Jungle itself, along with some landmarks within it like the treehouse, the watering hole, the swamp and Waziri village.
There would also be the kingdom of Opar and the lost world of Pellucidar.
Well that's all for now! I knew it took a while for this to happen, but I finally decided to buckle down and committed myself to continuing the very idea I shared with all of you.
Definitely planning on make a part 2 to this, which will hopefully be out by next month.
Let me know what you guys think about this so far, and what ideas you may have for the movies I talked about for this post, or for the movies I'll be talking about next.
