People keep asking "when are they going to do a remake of Goncharov" "when is Goncharov 2 going to get made??" "I want more Goncharov!" "Goncharov Netflix show!" But they don't get that it just wouldn't work. You can't have a sequel to a movie whose end relies on uncertainty. If we know what happens next, it ruins the whole ending. You're meant to just ponder, how does Goncharov continue life knowing he is responsible for what happened to Andrey? Does Katya make the right decision in the end? Is she really as free as her husband says she is with him? There's simply no room for a sequel.

Not to mention, they just don't make movies or TV shows like they used to, especially not to the level of cinemagraphic genius of Goncharov. What modern director or producer could match the bridge scene today? The dinner scene? None. They made something as mundane as ice pick Joe cleaning his ice pick beautiful, intimate, complex, and completely unique. Nothing can match that today.
