What I learned about peak character design and movie making is that shit gets real when a character loses one arm/leg/eye

i find it funny when people are like "oh media literacy is dead" like bro have you read the Hays Code media literacy's been dead since the 1930s it's not that we're stupid we're just trying to resurrect it from the dead and having understandable difficulties

Raiders don't need no color or sound
My husband and I watch a lot of storytelling and film analysis videos. This one uses Steven Soderbergh's desaturated edit of "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" that also replaced the audio with some of Trent Reznor's music to highlight Spielberg's masterful blocking and framing. It's fantastic!

remember when Kaia was in Germany filming Mother Mary and her casting in that movie had not been announced yet? Anybody know why sometimes casting announcements don’t happen until a movie is already filming or has been filmed? I’ve noticed other casting announcements like that. I just saw one today where they announced cast and the movie comes out in April so it’s clearly been filmed. Why do they wait so long to announce?
i actually don't know! i tried to look up via the handy dandy googling something and adding reddit on the end but the only thing it brought up was someone saying that doesn''t happen. when it obv does haha. gonna post this and add a bunch of film related tags to see if we can get someone else to answer this bc now i'm nosy too, though i have to assume it must be related to marketing? and building hype closer to the release of the thing?
