Movie Buffs, I need your help!
I'm looking for a movie and it's driving me insane! I have only vague memories of it because it was a borrowed VHS tape, and it's kinda stressing me out that I can't find this! I thought I had a decent lead but I finally watched it yesterday and it wasn't right, but one of the suggestions I got from Reddit wasn't right either?!
Here's what I know;
It had to be from the early 80's up to the mid 90's, since I watched it on tape in 1998.
2. It was definitely live-action with little to no animation.
3. But it's not Labyrinth, Neverending Story, or The Princess Bride.
4. The main scenes I remember are: a woman in a white dress being pursued by men on horseback, the same woman running through a snowy landscape, and the same woman falling in a pond and being rescued. This is very important because I have a distinct vision of her dress flowing and swirling in the water.
5. There were Unicorns? Or maybe just white horses? Involved.
Someone suggested Legend with Tom Cruise, Mia Sara, and Tim Curry, which was incredibly close but not quite right because Princess Lili never fell into a pond and had to be saved? Jack dove in for the ring but Lili never fell in, which is crucial to my memory.
Today I watched Ladyhawke with Matthew Broderick, Rutger Hauer, and Michelle Phifer, which was incredibly sexy and powerful and had some elements that seemed familiar, but Legend was a lot closer but missed the most important scene in my mind.
Does anyone have any clue what I'm talking about?!

At 16, his family was stationed in Japan, so Hamill attended Nile C. Kinnick High School in Yokosuka, which is now a private school found in the Yokosuka Naval Base. During his time there, he was heavily involved in the drama club and even served as school council president before graduating in 1969. After this, he enrolled in Los Angeles City College to study drama further.

Did you know ...
In the film Fight Club, David Fincher placed at least one cup of Starbucks in every scene.
As an ode to the theme of consumerism throughout the movie.

Countdown to Alien Day – Fun fact #2 or whatever:
Before the glossy dark gray / black design of the alien seen in the film was decided upon, there were tests of a translucent alien suit:

Did you know Bill Murray actually did eat all that food in the Groundhog Day diner scene?
Tumblr media
Typically when there’s a scene in a movie involving food (especially in large quantities like this scene) the actor(s) will be given a “spit bucket”. This is just how it sounds; once the take is over, the actor can spit the food out into the bucket so they don’t risk getting sick from over eating.
But when filming this scene—where Bill’s character gorges himself on several breakfast foods—Bill declined the offer of a spit bucket, saying that he’d be fine without it.
All this to say, he really did swallow that whole slice of cake he shoves into his maw. Despite saying he could handle it, he actually did get pretty sick after.

I just listened to the Hoodwinked episode of Moviestruck and wanted to share a tidbit that I discovered a few years ago. The character Nicky Flippers (and the movie structure) is based on a 1930s movie series called "The Thin Man", specifically the character Nick Charles. The Thin Man movies are one of my favorites and I've watched many, many times. When I rewatched Hoodwinked a few years ago, I couldn't figure out why the frog and the movie ending seemed so damn familiar! Took me a few days to figure it out. I was not expecting to see a 1930s detective movie referenced in my early 2000s animated childrens movie. 😄

Lobby Cards are promotional photographs printed on heavy cardstock paper. They were meant to be displayed in the massive lobbies of movie palaces before the film came out, working alongside posters to promote coming attractions. This gave audiences an early look at the film's cinematic grandeur, albeit in still form.

Okay so this happened yesterday...
-Casually watching Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets with my mom
-Hermione casts Finite Incantatem to save Harry from the tampered bludger
Tumblr media
Mom: "End of Enchantment"
Me: what?
Mom: "End of Enchantment", that's what it means. Finite is finished, Incantatem is enchantment.
Me: *slowly processing that, remembering my mom actually studied Latin for her career*
Me: 19 YEARS. FOR NINETEEN (19) YEARS I'VE BEEN WONDERING WHAT THAT SPELL ACTUALLY DID AND YOU LISTEN TO IT ONCE AND TRANSLATE IT JUST LIKE THAT?! YOU COULD'VE TOLD ME ALL THIS TIME?!?!!?!
So yeah, my mom may have some terrible memory for movie trivia, but she picks things up quickly. And Pottermore had the audacity to say my mom was a Gryffindor, when that was the most Ravenclaw behaviour I've seen ever, and I'M a Ravenclaw. 💙🦅

Many people say the conflict would have been solved if Goncharov and Andrey simply had gay sex but did you know in the original uncensored script they actually did!?
The scene scrutinized for its portrayal of infidelity and explicit male homosexual acts was considered so shocking and banned in violation of the Motion Picture Production Code (better known as the Hays Code) even though to go around it both characters still tragically died, making it an instance of the Bury Your Gays trope making its way in Hollywood.
Ironically the MPPC was dissolved in 1968, after already leaving a mark on the movie (whose turbulent production lasted 7 years before the final premiere in 1973)
So no unfortunately Goncharov and Andrey having gay sex wouldn’t save them…
