Cozy couch, anyone?
I'm on the hunt for the ideal cozy L-sectional and have been coming up short. It's gotten to the point where I'm ready to splurge 6k on a couch if it's The One, but still haven't found one worthy enough to empty my bank account for... any recommendations on brands? We (me, myself, and I) are looking for something super cozy, soft, and floofy, with a chaise - there's a vision here involving a cozy reading nook by the window...

The burn of the carpet,
The smell of hot cross buns,
Paint smeared on faces,
Books read for fun,
A secret chant for greyhounds,
Swinging in the sun,
Picky bits for tea,
The pixie always sung,
Reading logs with faces,
Resenting being young,
First kisses make you tingle,
Feeling anxious dries your tongue,
Crying over people,
Who pressed down on your lungs,
Growing to be different,
It’s only just begun,
Moving up is scary,
Not ready to be done,
Boxes fill the boot,
The book bag must be hung.

You deserve to come back to a place where you feel safe and relaxed. Having to go home to a house of just dysfunction and destruction disrupts a lot of creativity and stunts the growth of many individuals. It can send someone into fight or flight mode 24/7. I value the standard of coming home and knowing I am safe and can just decompress and not have to walk through the door to be met with anger and violence. Having a quiet space and peaceful one is very important and should be a right, not a choice. 🎶
It can be really difficult growing up with a family that doesn't respect your privacy, let alone allow you to even have your own space. When I finally moved out, I found it so freeing, and when I finally got a taste of this freedom, I knew that I could never go back to the life that I once had. 🎶
Being able to have my own space and privacy has really shaped who I am today. It has allowed me to take some to reflect and really show up as the best first of myself. I am able to heal privately and take as much as I need to do so. 🎶

moving out
moving out. finally being independent. finally having a place to yourself. no controlling parents. no annoying siblings. just you. you and your life that is about to start. is there anything better in this world?
the first week in your own dorm is great, so exciting and different from what you have known. the second week is even greater and so is the first month and the second month. until you realise you have been living by yourself for half a year!
then you realise what moving out really means. moving out means feeling lonely and missing your annoying family. you miss the feeling of always having someone around. you miss all the familiar sounds. how your siblings stomp down the stairs for dinner. how your sister yells at you for using her mascara. how your brother screams at his videogames. how you never had a quiet moment to yourself and how that used to freak you out.
you remember the smell of the kitchen when your mum got dinner ready. now you have to cook your own dinner and have been eating pasta for over a week. the last time you saw your little brother you could not recognise his voice anymore. the last time you saw your little sister she was taller than you. you are missing out on them growing up themselves when you should be by their side instead.
you miss them. you miss them so much and wish you could just turn back time to be a kid again. because moving out sucks and being an adult sucks even more.

Is it bad to ask for peace?
I told my parents that I wanna move-out because they've been so noisy lately. I can't bear the chaos and the pain it brings to me. I don't know how I survived my 19 years living with them. I told them that it actually affected my performance in uni especially my scores. Guess what? They disregarded me. Said I was too much and why in the world would it affect me. They think I was overreacting. It affected me too much actually. I cried and crid the whole two weeks of exams and SLACKED OFF. I cannot focus.
The noise. They were always fighting, shouting, disturbing me while reviewing, and says discouraging words.
They won't let me go yet they're giving me every reason to leave them.
