The Way
Wanderer, your footsteps are
the road, and nothing more; wanderer, there is no road, the road is made by walking. By walking one makes the road, and upon glancing behind one sees the path that never will be trod again. Wanderer, there is no road– Only wakes upon the sea.

Wrestlemania Main Event Reviews - Wrestlemania X
Bret Hart def. Yokozuna (c) w/ Mr. Fuji & Jim Cornette for the WWF World Championship with special guest referee “Rowdy Roddy Piper in 10:38
Round 2! Yokozuna is out first despite being champion and here comes Hart! Also, look at the trousers on Cornette! Yokozuna attacks as Bret gets in the ring! He fights back but Yokozuna is too strong. Big chop and strikes to Hart. Brutal powerslam and Yokozuna continues to work over Hart. Cornette is scared off the apron by Piper, and Hart dodges a splash. He mounts a comeback and hits a headbutt, Hart is down but Yokozuna also teeters and falls. They brawl on the mat and Bret looks hurt! He keeps up the fight but Yokozuna is strong. He keeps it up and is able to knock him down. Cornette pulls Piper out before a three count and gets knocked out for his troubles. Yokozuna is back on top but he’s tired. Leg drop to Hart and he sizes up the challenger. Throws Hart out and Piper counts but he gets in just in time. Yokozuna grabs him straight away and attacks him in the corner. A running attack but Hart dodges and a top rope bulldog, just like the previous year! 2-count. Elbow drop! 2-count. Wicked clothesline and they’re both down, Bret gets the cover but it’s still not enough. Yokozuna catches a diving Hart with a belly-to-belly and drags him over for the Banzai Drop. He falls and Hart dodges, cover, and Bret Hart wins! Yokozuna is immediately devastated by his loss. Weird finish. Yokozuna chases Piper to the back. I genuinely feel bad for Yokozuna, his mistake cost him. Poor guy. Luger comes out to celebrate. Followed by all the faces and also Burt Reynolds. I think there’s other celebrities but I don’t know them. Savage and Monsoon also come out. They all hold him aloft and Owen Hart shakes his head on the ramp as Savage invites him in.
Pros: Alright action, Hart’s story across the night is good Cons: Uneventful match, retreads the same ground, weird finish
Not quite on the level of other Wrestlemania X matches. Fine match, just nothing too interesting with an odd finish. An improvement on the last two years but not by much. Really nothing to say about this one.

"You knew I was having twins, why didn't you warn me?" Maple asked angrily.
Limburger turned towards her. "Twins? I didn't know that. Shocking."
"Don't play dumb. You did that dumb little mew reproduction lesson and then I ran into two mew flowers. You knew."
"I didn't know you were having twins." Limburger took another sip of his cucumber lime Gatorade. "I didn't tell you because Cheese thought your reaction would be funny. He was right."
"YOU TOLD THAT FREAK BUT NOT ME-" Maple became too angry to speak coherently anymore.
"I needed help with the PowerPoint slides."
Maple gave up and flew off to Mr. Fuji's room. He was working on trying to teach Cubert how to use buttons to communicate, which was adorable. His favorite button was the mom one and he would start spamming it whenever Fuji left him.
Fuji noticed Maple fly in and pressed the auntie button, pointing at her.
Cubert looked from Maple to the button and back. "Cu..." He pressed the auntie button, and then the mad button.
Fuji looked at Maple. "You do look mad. What's up?"
Maple dumped the two mew flowers onto his desk.
Fuji stared at them. "Are these... what I think they are?"
"Yes."
"Thank you. That means a lot." Fuji picked up the flowers gently.
"Don't read too much into it. Didn't want any other humans finding them."
Fuji left the room. Cubert started hitting the mom button. Maple suddenly felt exhausted. She sank to the floor as her ability to float rapidly faded. Now the auntie button was being rapidly repeated.
Fuji came back in with the flowers in a vase. "What about aunt- Oh!" He quickly set the vase aside and ran over to her, kneeling down. "Are you alright?"
"Probably just... adrenaline crash." Maple's brain was going all fuzzy, like she didn't even have the energy to think anymore.
"You should take it easy from here on out. I'll get you some food and water." Fuji started to get up.
Maple was rapidly feeling worse and worse. She was having trouble staying awake. "Hibernation? Only few minutes and already..."
Fuji stopped. "What?"
Maple didn't answer.

I wonder how much the rest of the Pokémon World knows about Mewtwo and Mew, because, holy shit. Like, I cannot stress enough how much of an ethics violation everything about Mewtwo is. I mean, I’m honestly not opposed to genetic experimentation in real life, but Mewtwo’s upbringing is consistently portrayed to have been a failure in every way to raise a sapient being who is literally a child.
Especially in the games universe, as while the anime had Mewtwo be born in a test tube, the games universe literally states that Mew gave birth to Mewtwo themselves. While later English translations leave this out to avoid exposing children to the concept of birth or whatever, it’s still canon.
Like, they literally kidnapped one of the rarest Pokémon on Earth and then artificially implanted it with their genetic experiment. Holy shit. Like, beyond even just the ethics of artificial insemination on a demonstrably sapient creature, Mewtwo, even as a baby, is consistently portrayed as a fair bit larger than Mew. I don’t think that would be a safe or easy process, is all I’m saying.
And then, after forcing this poor creature to give birth to their experiment, they then take the baby away from it and basically torture the poor child until it (rightly) destroys the lab and escapes, never to see its mother again.
How much do the rest of the world know about what happened in the Pokémon Mansion? The journals were there out in the open for as long as the Mansion has been burnt, so did people read it? The Pokédex knows about Mewtwo, so clearly they did, right? What happened to the company that ordered Mewtwo made?
We know Mr. Fuji has settled down to run a Pokémon sanctuary in Lavender Town, and Blaine runs the Cinnabar Island Gym. How does the world view them for what they did? Does the world know? Do they complain that the Kanto Pokémon League lets a man who was at least somewhat involved in such a cruel experiment run a Gym?

Pokemon Card of the day #2558: Mr. Fuji (Fossil)
Tumblr media
Mr. Fuji was an interesting way to prevent a Prize and recycle some resources. The Trainer card had you choose a Pokemon on your Bench and shuffle it and any cards attached to it into your deck. There were two uses for this. The first was to simply save a weakened Pokemon, denying the opponent a Prize. The second, useful for some stall decks, was to shuffle Pokemon back into the deck to raise the deck count and make sure the opponent ended up running out of cards first. This let Mr. Fuji fit into any sort of deck, though it was probably better in stall decks. A single copy was seen at times in decks ranging from stall based on Lickitung, Moltres, or Alakazam to Haymaker variants and those using Lickitung. You could also pair it with Mewtwo’s Energy Absorption to shuffle a bunch of Energy into the deck at once in long games. While not in every deck due to space concerns (it was not going to be needed in every game), it was worth a copy sometimes if you found yourself having Pokemon just short of being Knocked Out a lot or wanted an extra way to gain a card advantage.

Wrestlemania Main Event Reviews - Wrestlemania IX
Yokozuna w/ Mr. Fuji def. Bret Hart (c) for the WWF World Championship in 8:55/Hulk Hogan vs. Yokozuna (c) w/ Mr. Fuji for the WWF World Championship in 0:21
The Roman aesthetic is amazing here, Mean Gene’s attire is great! Hogan does a promo before the match challenging the winner but who would have guessed it would be 5 seconds after the main event! Both will be summed up here because I feel like it. This promo is… painful? He calls Yokozuna a not very nice word for someone from Japan and predicts that the title will stay “right here in the WWF, right here in the US of A” with the famously Canadian, Bret Hart. Let’s move on to the match. Todd Pettengill is amazing in the crowd pushing through the fans, asking questions to some quiet kid and two toga-wearing So-Cal lads. He is wearing a backwards cap with his Roman attire. Savage’s suit at commentary is sublime. Here comes Yokozuna, he gets some flowers, and then Bret Hart is here! Nice stage design for this Wrestlemania! Not much else going for it! Match starts with some Yokozuna mat stomps but Hart then comes in with a big dropkick and punches! Tries to wrestle but Yokozuna is too big! Shoulder tackle and Hart flies out the ring! High impact! Hart trips him with the rope and launches in with the punches! Knee drop then once Yokozuna is on his feet, Hart attempts some clotheslines but after no effect, Yokozuna hits his own on the third. Powerslam and leg drop from Yokozuna. The crowd chants USA in the match between a Canadian wrestler and a Japanese wrestler. He works over Hart but Hart is able to counter a corner running attack with a big boot and brings him down with a jumping attack. I think Heenan says Brahma Bull which is interesting considering who Yokozuna is related to! Big superkick from Yokozuna which looks great and he’s back in control. This time Hart dodges the running corner attack and hits a bulldog and a knee drop but Yokozuna kicks out of both. Diving clothesline and another takes him down again! Corner punches but Yokozuna throws him down, though Hart rips off the turnbuckle. Yokozuna tries to hit him into the exposed turnbuckle but Hart reverse the attempt and the sharpshooter is locked in. Fuji throws salt in Hart’s eyes behind the ref’s back and Yokozuna get the 1-2-3! Hogan is immediately out there to protest and Fuji immediately challenges Hogan. Hogan helps Bret for a minute but he tells him to take out Yokozuna. The salt is attempted again, but Hogan dodges and Yokozuna takes it! Fuji is downed then clothesline, leg drop, and Hogan wins! It works a little better than on paper but it is still very dumb from a booking point of view. The crowd loves it but why would Yokozuna take this match? Also it’s pretty cheap to have Hogan come out like this. He gets fireworks as he poses, including that iconic smug model pose.
Pros: Hart is very good with what he’s given, Yokozuna works alright Cons: Not very grand, Hogan win is pretty cheap, nothing too exciting, Yokozuna done dirty
There’s not much to say about the proper match, just basic big man vs. little man with a heelish finish, kinda weak for Bret to lose off just the salt in the eyes though. Hogan’s involvement is pretty transparent and makes Fuji and Yokozuna look kinda dumb. But the crowd were hot for the Hogan win it seems! Just an odd match. Bret being Bret ups this match slightly just cos he gave it a good go.
