DJについて　その３

大学１年の夏休み。お盆前に免許を取ると祖母の家から実家へ引っ越した。

家族と一緒に居られないことが寂しいと感じていたのが一番の理由だった。

免許を取ったことで車の運転にハマり、その年の10月には念願のMR2を購入したことでますます車にのめり込み、ターンテーブルに触らない日が続いた。

2005年3月、実家からまた豊田の祖母の家に引っ越した。

この頃、実家の家庭環境がかなり複雑になっていて気が滅入っており、実家のしがらみから距離を置きたいと思ってまた豊田に引っ越した。

この時期は人生の中でも屈指のカオスな時期で、大学はほぼ行かず、夜な夜なMR2であてもなく走るという生活が続いていた。

まるで依存するかのように車の運転にハマっていた。毎晩少なくとも100km、走り足りない時は120kmほど走り、２〜３日に１度はガソリンを入れていた。

当時ハイオクでも1Lで120円程度で、満タンにすると燃料の重さで燃費が悪化すると考えて2000円分だけ入れていた。

それでも１ヶ月のガソリン代は２万を超えてた。

今日もガソリンを入れてきたところだけど、今は通勤や食料品の買い出しでしか車を使ってないので１ヶ月で6000円程度。そう考えると当時はめちゃくちゃ車乗ってたなと思う。

その分、運転の技術はものすごく上がったと思うし道もかなり覚えた。

この頃、ターンテーブルの置いてある棚を見ることすら嫌になっていた。

DJができない自分、というのがストレスで、そのストレスに向き合うエネルギーが残っていなかった。

ただ、音楽を聴くことはやめていなかった。トランスは聴いていなかったけどthe CorrsやHiraly Duff, Natasha Bedingfieldなどを聴いていた。

そこから月日が流れて2007年1月。

再びDJに興味を持つきっかけが訪れた。

Nがdj Kentaroがすごいから聴け、と言ってYouTubeのリンクをメールで送ってきた。

見てみると、あまりの圧倒的な技術力に度肝を抜かれた。

KentaroはDMCというDJの世界大会で2002年に優勝した偉人なんだけど、DMCはDJと言ってもターンテーブリストの大会なので曲を繋いでミックスするDJとは少しジャンルが違う。

DJをやってる人でもターンテーブリストについて知らない人は多く、ターンテーブリストという界隈そのものがかなりニッチなのでここではざっくりとした説明にとどめる事にする。

なぜターンテーブリストがニッチなのかというと、ターンテーブリストになるためには高度なスクラッチやジャグリングなどの技術を習得する必要があり、それが途轍もない苦行と言っていいほど大変だから（だとぶっちゃけ俺は思ってます）。

ミックス主体の世間一般のイメージするDJでも、ヒップホップなどではスクラッチや軽いジャグリングを行うことがあるけど、ターンテーブリストのそれは次元が違う。ただ、ミックスメインのDJが技術的に低いとかそういう意味ではない。

KentaroをきっかけとしてDJ威蔵、DJ YASA、DJ CO-MAなど面白いターンテーブリストが日本にはいっぱいいる事を知り、YouTubeやニコニコ動画でそれらの動画を見る日々が続くも、俺からすると技術的に高度すぎて真似する気も起きなかった。

ただ、雰囲気だけは真似たいと思うミーハーな俺はバトルブレイクス（主にターンテーブリストが使う効果音などの入った特殊なレコード）を購入して聴いたりしてみるも全く使いこなせずにいた。

この頃（2008~2010年頃）の日本のDMC界隈は良いターンテーブリストが多かった事もあってか盛り上がってたように思う。

日本におけるDMCは2012年頃だったかに一度中断してるんだけど、再開後のDMCはDVSの使用がOKになって何となく見る気がしなくなった。

俺が見てた中断前のDMCはレコードオンリーで、それがまた魅力的だなと感じてた。

なんかこの頃の俺はファッションDJというか、機材とかレコードだけ買ってDJは全くできない、DJとして…というか人間として中身のない奴だったと思う。

DJができるようになるためには練習が必要で、それがしんどいからやりたくなかったというのが本音。

2008年の夏だったか、Vestax PMC-37Proというミキサーを買った。トランスにハマってた2003年頃から憧れていた名機で、ミックスとスクラッチのどちらにも対応できる有能なミキサーだった。

この頃から夜行バスで半年に１回程度東京に行くようになり、渋谷でレコードを買ったりしていた。

2009年夏、内定を得て就活を終えた俺は最後の秋学期をのんびり過ごすことに決めた。

ある日、ネットでPMC-37Proを使っている人のブログを見つけ、コメントした。

この人はTさんという方で、同じミキサーを使っているものの聴いている音楽のジャンルは全く異なった。

彼はスティッカムやニコニコ生放送でDJを配信する「インターネットテクノDJ」という界隈に属していた。

自分のDJプレイをストリーミングで配信し、遠く離れた土地の人たちとリアルタイムで共有するのは先進的な試みだと感じた。

TさんはDJミックスだけでなく、コルグのシンセサイザーや色んな機材を導入して自作曲を作り、さらに曲のジャケをデザインするなどクリエイティビティの塊のような人だった。

彼の好きなUKガラージやハウスのミックスはiPodに入れて何度も聴いていた。

2010年3月、就職のために横浜に引っ越した。

この時、吉祥寺でTさんがDJをやるというので横浜から吉祥寺へ向かい、初めてTさんに会った。かなりお洒落な人だった。

4月に入って新社会人としての生活が始まるも、大学に入った時と同じく環境の変化が大きかったのでメンタル的にも負担が大きかった。

8月5日、この日自分のDJ人生の中でも屈指のビッグイベントが起こる。

DMC Japan Final。

言うなればDMCの全国大会で、ここでの優勝者がDMC World Finalに出場する事になる。

5,6日がちょうど休みだったため、「行くしかねぇ」と思い恵比寿へ向かった。

恵比寿には夕方に着いたため、WE NODというレコード屋に行った。ターンテーブリスト系の動画で度々目にするレコード屋で、お店に入るとDMCのフライヤーが貼ってあった。

というか、DMCは観るためにチケットが必要で前売り券買わないと入れないんじゃ…と心配になってきた。

お店の人に「DMCって前売り券買わないと入れないんですか？」と聞いてみた。

すると、「多分当日券出ますよ」と言われ、それに賭ける事にした。

つかDMC観に行きたいなら事前に下調べしとけよなという感じだよな…そういうところの無計画さがなんか発達障害っぽく感じる（俺が本当に発達障害かどうかは知らない）。

その後、会場であるLiquidroomに到着し、無事に当日券を購入し入場した。

クロークに手荷物を預けていると、目の前をDJ宮島が歩いていた。

「おお！ちゃんと便所サンダル履いてる！」と謎に感動した。

DMC Japan Finalの大会そのものは今まで散々動画で見てきたDJが実際に目の前に、しかもDMCの舞台でパフォーマンスをしているという夢のような時間だったけど、シングル部門の最後に俺がこの日一番見たかったDJ CO-MAが出てきた。

いろんなターンテーブリストを見てきた中でDJ CO-MAが何というか最推しで、それは今でも変わっていない。

ルーティンの音楽性も好きだし、ミックスCDの"Fresh Ambition"は何度聴いたか分からないくらいいつも聴いてた。

そんなDJ CO-MAのルーティンを初めて生で、しかもDMCで観た。６分間の制限時間、俺はただただ呆然と立ち尽くしていた。

度肝を抜かれた６分間だった。ルーティンの内容はぶっちゃけほとんど覚えていない。

この日、DMCの大会の合間にサイプレス上野やNonkeyが出てきたりしてそれはそれで楽しかった。

そして21時だったか、DMCのアフターパーティがLiquidroomの２階で開かれた。

当然参加した。パーティ会場ではDJ威蔵やDJ YASAをはじめとしたレジェンド級のターンテーブリストがDJをし、それをBGMに色んなターンテーブリストや今日の大会を見にきた人たちが喋ったりお酒を飲んだりしている。

ふと周りを見ると、それこそ散々YouTubeで見てきたターンテーブリストが一堂に会していて壮観だった。

印象的だったのは、dj Kentaroがターンテーブリストに憧れてこれからそれを目指そうとしている人の相談に乗って親身にアドバイスしてた事。

その人はそれほどB-BOY感も無い、真面目そうな青年風な感じで、一人で来たっぽかった。俺と近いものを感じた。

そして親身になってアドバイスしているKentaroの人間性も素晴らしいなと感じた。

DJ CO-MAはどこにいるんだろうと思ってしばらく待っているとDJ CO-MAが現れた。

彼は農業を生業にしつつDJをやっているので、会場には長時間滞在せずにすぐに帰ってしまうことが考えられたので、この機を逃すまいと声を掛けた。

「CO-MAさんですよね、ルーティンすごく好きで動画めちゃ見てます。いつか新潟に遊びに行ってもいいですか？」みたいな事を聞いた。

すると、「いいよ、来なよ！」と言ってくれた。めちゃくちゃ嬉しかった。

あと、DJ YASAにも声を掛けた。

「YASAさん、ワールドファイナル頑張ってください！」

「ありがとう！」

みたいなやり取りをした。

その後、始発まで身動きが取れなかったので朝５時までエアコン効きすぎてクソ寒い中ソファに座って耐え忍び、始発の時間が近づくとLiquidroomを後にして恵比寿駅へ向かった。

ホームに出ると、自分以外に誰かがいるのに気づいた。

DJ CO-MAの弟子で昨夜のJapan Finalにも出場していたDJ松永だった。

この時はまだ出始めでマイナーな存在だったけど、松永、今は超有名人になってるよね。

長文書いて疲れたのでこの辺で。

なんか自分のDJ人生の棚卸しみたいになってるね。

I was recently involved in a car wreck where I wasn't insured whatsoever. This wreck was considered road rage on both parts. I didn't initiate the road rage. I had a dip spit bottle thrown at my car. Can I Sue My Car Insurance Company For Fraud?

I bought insurance for my truck. after 3 months of paying my agent i noticed that my financing bank had added 1300 dollars to my loan as a collateral insurance because they did not have proof of my insurance. I went back to my agent and they explained that they forgot to send the payment for 3 months to the main insurance company and that is why it appeared to my bank that I did not have insurance. My insurance agent told me they were gonna do a re-installment and that they were going to give me proof that i had insurance for those 3 months so i could take it to my bank so they could remove the 1300 from the loan. It's been about 10 months and my insurance agent has not given me any proof of my policy so the bank is still charging me for those 3 months. (about 400 per month since im 20). my agent does not want to refund the money for those 3 months, and they do not want to give me a proof of policy. I do have proof of paying them for those 3 months since I payed with a check that they cashed. I want them to give me proof of insurance for those 3 months or to pay 1300 to my loan because they are charging it due to their fault since they forgot to send my payment. Can I do a civil law suit for those 1300. I have proof of my payment for those 3 months. I also have my policy number but it says it's cancelled due to non payment so bank will not accept that as insurance. right after those 3 months I opened a new policy with them and ive had it for 8 months and ive always payed on time. I recently noticed that when they opened the new policy they inputed my date of birth as if i was 40 years old instead of 20. I do not know if they did a mistake or if they did that on purpose to give me a better price. The thing is that all these 8 months I've been paying i was actually never covered since my date of birth was way wrong. Only my name was correct but I talked directly to the insurance and not my agent and they explained to me that if i would have crashed it wouldnt have covered me since they do not have the correct date of birth. I just fixed that directly with the agent and now they have the correct date of birth so the insurance price went up since im only 20. I dont mind about that. I just think it's unfair that i paid for almost a year and that i was actually never covered because they did a mistake on my information. Plus they caused the bank to charge me.. So i just feel like if all this has been a big scam since i paid so much and did not have insurance. Can I sue them to get my money back or at least pay the bank what the bank is charging me for not having insurance.. like i said i have all the recepits of all payments ive done and i also have a copy of the policy where my information is not accurate and how i was paying without being covered. Hi, I'm 17 in a week & will be starting my driving lessons. I have my theory booked for a few days after & aim to pass in around 6 weeks, depending on the waiting list for the test, having 3-4 lessons a week. Driving a car isn't a problem for me, have had plenty of practise on tracks in my dads weapon ;) & have for the last 8 weeks or so been going to an empty industrial estate one or twice a week, driving my mums cooper S or occasionally my uncles M3. Just need practice with the ways of public roads from my instructor. Anyway, as you can probably tell I've had a fair bit of experience driving fairly fast cars, so thats where i need advice - can anybody suggest any fairly fast cars that are reasonable to insure? or any cheap insurance company's, or any ways to get insurance down, as long as they aren't completely ridiculous lies, I want to keep it as legit as possibly ideally. So far I've been quoted 1600-ish on a standard golf on my mums insurance, but ideally want something a bit quicker then that. My budget for a car + insurance overall is 4-5k.
