Fayne Island Protest Journal - Entry #2

I was building Satori's resort when I noticed a movement off the coasts of the Island. I followed Tori into nowhere in the ocean to start a walk-on-water style protest against jellyfish.

"We don't want jellyfish in our oceans! And where are their legs, anyway? Can they even stand? Boooo!"

The demonstration was brilliant, in my opinion, so I watched the influx of sims come and go on speedboats, sail boats and water skis. Until I got distracted by something in the ocean, like deep down on the seabed.

What do you know! A tiny stool protecting a plethora of fruits and vegetables. It is not a dive lot; it's just some random place in the open world, in the ocean. I remember seeing a similar thing in CAW when you don't have a clean Global Layer. I don't know why but I found this amusing at the time. These little things...

her traits may seem kind of random but i thought they were perfect! honestly it makes no sense 2 me how a sim with perfect traits could end up here. it was a freak accident and she was unlucky. though, she ends up loving it and living here for her whole life c: maybe she didn’t have the best most supportive family/friends back where she came from :p

i think she’s a bit of a klutz who loves makeup/fashion and just wants 2 find “the one.” i think she really enjoyed the ocean/summer/beaches and what not, which is probably how she falls in love with this place. her own little artistic home that won’t ever judge her. on the other hand her lifetime wish is a bit random.. -__-; i really just had no idea what 2 give her! i also wanted 2 give her something i haven’t really done yet in game and believe me, i’ve done the art ones MANY many times.

i think it’ll be really fun! she’s just a sweet girl n___n

not that anon but who's your favorite sluggy

so i never played the original MSC, but originally my favorite was the saint. i loved the idea of being able to just Leave situations and have a grappling tongue at all times as a newbie. i really struggled with platforming and survival back then, so i really liked them. fuck losing all karma upon dying, i could just Leave!

out of the vanilla scugs, monk was also my favorite back then. i REALLY hated the lore removal, but my gaming skills were already just Piss Poor in general so rain world was almost nigh impossible at first. also i liked being friends with lizards and scavs and i couldnt bring myself to attack scavs back then.

so, between then and now, my favorites have changed. between the MSC slugcats...

this is one of those few times i can answer from Every Possible Aspect of the candidate, like gameplay, campaign plot, etc. Which is really cool! when MSC dropped, Riv was the one  I played first using the "unlock all campaigns" cheat. I REALLY wanted to play saint first, but knowing from the start that the slugcats were ranked by difficulty and saint was locked behind 2 slugcats as opposed to 1, I curbed that urge and went for Riv since they were my second favorite.

now, their super exaggerated movement was hard to get a handle on, i will admit- but i hadn't played this game in a long time so i was just rusty on top of that. but i can confidently say im used to them! i love using their abilities to see just what i can do. there was a time i was playing with a randomizer and it was really fun having to adapt to each new situation like an opportunist. i wish i recorded it! but riv really helped me get over my hesitance when i was faced with predators, which was a bad habit I'd had for a long time.

campaign gameplay tested my lay of the land as well; especially by starting out in drainage system. i practically never set foot in drainage system back in the day, so i didnt know where in the world to head. I luckily detected the garbage wastes gate like, right away. trying to navigate the parts of the game more beaten off the main path of vanilla was difficult but fun! having only so much time to get from place to place was a fun challenge. then, after getting the rarefraction cell, trying to see how far i could go in 1 cycle was even greater.

now the plot is really where riv got me for sure.

looks to the moon has been a favorite character of mine for years. i never really stopped thinking about what happened between her and pebbles; every few months or so i would think about it. just how... hopeless things were for moon. It really made me sad. i think i speak for a lot of people when i say i wished that i could help her in some way. but the only thing i could do is bring her neurons, really. i never really made sense of pebbles side of the deal, like i knew what was going on with him and i felt bad, but it never really hit me how horrible things were for him. it all just felt so... tragic, yknow? that things ended up the way they did for the two of them.

exploring their superstructures was an experience. i originally planned to go to pebbles through shaded citadel after visiting moon on my first playthrough, but plans changed when i considered dealing with memory crypts, and the leg, AND underhang with my cycle limit (i had already sort of guessed that riv was after monks point in the timeline, but i didn't know that those areas got worse for riv so i was just thinking in terms of vanilla) so i went through the wall.

I kinda wish I saw at least memory crypts, but thats ok because the low gravity in the normally zero-gravity access shaft, plus the proto dll at the end, told me everything I needed to know before facing Pebbles chamber. Floating through his decayed structures... it hurt. I remember my first encounter with him in vanilla felt just a word away from being downright incomprehensible. he really came off as some god I couldn't percieve. but now, seeing the walls corroded by nothing but Rot, only small parts I actually recognized just barely peeking out amongst the decay, I just couldn't look. I felt like... like my arteries were clogged just by seeing his condition. Hearing him listen to Halcyon Memories, a favorite (previously) unused track of mine created a special kind of somber that I will Never re-experience.

Then, Moon's structure. This one is special. I got suuuper lost in here, but im glad I did. Up until a certain point, I had been taking the scenery in with a kind of reverence you would have while walking around a graveyard. I wandered for a few cycles, and at some point, Random Fate started playing. I didn't recognize the bass line yet, but when I had stumbled into what I immediately recognized as Moon's Memory Conflux, the Sundown melody kicked in.

Recognizing both things at once, I got all... like, choked up. Like... I'm finally helping Moon!  But... what about Pebbles? Why can't I help him? ...And like, I knew why; he brought this fate upon them both. But that didn't make it hurt any less. He asked me to do the only thing he wanted: to give all he had to redeem what he did. So in the end, this was all I could do to help him; in the same way that this was all Pebbles could do to make up for what he did to Moon.

Don't get me started on the ending. Seeing Moon restored to even a fraction of what once was had me so happy! It was exhilarating to say the least. But I was tearing up on the edge of my seat when she reached out to Pebbles. Watching the messages roll in slowly, seeing what she had to say, all the while praying that Pebbles could hear her.

Seeing Moon call herself Pebbles big sister is what broke the dam. From what I saw back in the day, people usually skirted that title of hers when it came to Pebbles, or never really acknowledged it. Even I did, for some time. But it never made sense to do that! Moon and Pebbles would never feel such anger, betrayal, or regret over everything that had happened if they weren't very close. I found it very important that that's who Moon was to him. Not just a great friend, but a big sister. I'm so glad the MSCteam felt that was important as well.

Speaking of which, seeing the names of community members and fans that I recognized in the credits got me sobbing again when I thought I was done. This expansion was a loveletter to the game from the fans, brought in officially by the actual developers. The Rivulet campaign especially enforced that feeling of love for the game- by having compassion for the tragedy two iterators and finally helping them reconcile.

I finally felt satisfied, not only because I was able to help Moon- but because I had also realized the tragic life that Pebbles had led. Those two things had never really left my mind.

another blue lock rant (act surprised) and i’m just gonna talk about pxg and bastard and how their match might go down, taking a page outta ego’s book, through personal bias and like 5% data from the manga

sooo manga spoilers for the neo egoist league arc

idk it feels like france is gonna be the final boss of the neo egoist arc, right ??? rin, shidou, loki, karasu, nanase, and zantetsu ???? it feel like they’re setting up foils such as rin vs isagi, shidou vs kunigami or kaiser or both fuck it, loki vs noa- if they decide to play, nanase vs ness, and zantetsu with like idk yukki or something if anything zantetsu’ll be moral support LMFAO i just wanna see zantetsu again fr idc if he’s on the bench 😭

anyways assuming karasu and nanase make the starting line up (we already know rin and shidou did) there could be some really interesting matchups when bastard finally plays against them. especially now that isagi has gone up many levels and kunigami only had a few moments to shine so far in the fc and msc matches and they have to prove wild card program did something right ? and kunigami could get his revenge on shidou for eliminating him in the first place. 

the way kaiser could serve as a rival for rin, shidou, OR loki to be honest LMFAOO he’s bastard’s strongest player and the player closest to sae in terms of skill level so rin could wanna duke it out w him ykwim but no doubt this match is gonna focus on him and isagi, it’s been between them since the second selection and it’s definitely not gonna stop cause of kaiser. and loki is an up and coming player at SEVENTEEN ?? he and kaiser could have an interesting matchup, if they sub him in. and shidou loooovess a strong player so he might wanna challenge kaiser and yk kaiser will throw some wild insults back at him LMAOO plus they’re both unpredictable and have pretty good physical strength i mean

yall see my vision for these two shits right

well if all else, kaiser could be locked down by karasu so he could show his improvement since u20 when he was holding defense together

nanase has always been a good support/passer so i could see him running into troubles with ness (assuming nanase even makes the starting line up and ness actually does shit) but i think ness actually WILL contribute this time considering he disappeared the second half of msc vs bm, he needs his own little moment or obstacle. but i also think unless loki TOUGHENED up nanase, he might be too passive for someone as sadistic as ness but i have faith in my fruity little guy

IF ANYTHING... i think nanase and hiori could be an interesting match up. hiori has been studdyinngg bastard, fc, and manshine since the start and there’s no way noa isn’t picking up on that. we need to see what hiori learned and how he improved or maybe they could save hiori’s growth for the italy game since he’s known for getting through tight spaces and italy is stacked on defense fr but we’re assuming france is the final boss and we’ve already played through italy

BUUUTT karasu and yukimiya were teammates before, so having them as rivals now could be interesting, like nanase and hiori. karasu could prove to understand yuki and he’d be another good obstacle for yuki to overcome. and yuki, now that he has his new gyro shot, he could be a harder player for karasu to defend against. 

i could definitely see karasu being all over the place, kinda like chigiri and otoya. also zantetsu, if he’s on the starting line up, can be like karasu’s support as we saw he’s able to attack and defend in the first selection. he would be able to cover the empty spaces that karasu might not be able to cover if he’s busy with kaiser or yukimiya

karasu could play a big role in locking bastard down and holding up defense, we know he can do it as we saw in u20. and maybe similarly to u20, karasu could be supported by nanase and zantetsu like how chigiri and niko were running around and manmarking and reo and hiori were subbed in and able to cover defense more

also it would be a good final match to conclude. everyone would be going against their foil, as mentioned earlier, and someone better than them. 

rin and isagi, it’s obvious what they’ve got going on.

kunigami and shidou need to settle their rivalry, seeing shidou again could trigger something in kunigami

whoever kaiser will matchup with, they’ll have to evolve a shit ton in order to make moves on him like isagi did. unless it’s rin. personally, i think having rin and kaiser AT LEAST MEET is a good way to reveal kaiser knows sae and crushed him in their game together which caused sae to switch positions

but counterpoint could be rin completely has detached himself from sae after u20 and was set on being THE best so it would be a little harder for kaiser to get a rise outta him by just mentioning sae. but idk maybe kaiser revealing he was the one who started the catalyst of rin’s biggest turning point of his life could trigger something, kinda like what happened with rin and leonardo luna

you see what i’m saying

and you know kaiser’s gonna be a piece of shit about it too. rin could score the first goal and kaiser will say “oh well, would you look at that?! so that’s what sae itoshi’s little brother is capable of, hm?”

and he’s gonna pull another

trying to figure out kaiser’s role now that isagi locked him down is a little difficult. but what’s also difficult to figure out is HOW THE HELL JULIEN LOKI GOT RIN AND SHIDOU TO COOPERATE W EACH OTHER

as kind and polite loki looks, i think the obvious creative choice is for him to be an absolute monster. from what we’ve seen of him so far, he’s got a stern voice and he’s got quite a lot of say between the top five. judging by the way the top five DEGRADED bllk’s top player, they have to have respect for loki. 

but this aint about loki

if france is the last game, i have NO IDEA how kaiser and isagi’s relationship/rivalry could even begin to develop from the ending of msc vs bm LMAOO if italy comes after, i don’t really have any creative ideas other than they try to work together but fr just can’t. and idk maybe they have some magical chemical reaction in this game for the sake of crushing rin or shidou or both again fuck it but who knows

anyways that’s all i have im desperate to see pxg play but i will sit happily through the italy game if it makes france the final boss

what courses have you taken during your MSc? which one was the most difficult? wishing you the best for the busy semester ahead with your thesis work

Thank you so much for the encouragement! It has been…. a lot, but hopefully I'll be able to manage

I’ve taken so many different courses – the (almost) complete freedom to choose courses was one of the main reasons I chose this master programme over others. I took anything that tickled my fancy: Strategy and Technology, Competitive Strategy, Climate Change and Ethical Challenges, Model UNFCCC, Managing Change and Innovation, Strategic Analysis, Business Model Design

I think a lot of the courses in my minor - which is in Energy, Natural Resources, and the Environment -  were (the right amount of!) challenging for me, because they were on topics I had no prior knowledge of but which I found interesting: Offshore Energy Resources, Energy Markets, Economics of Fisheries, etc. Many of these were in a seminar format, which helped – a short period to deep dive into an unknown topic, usually culminating in an essay on a specific aspect I was interested in, without heavy consequences on my GPA.

However, what I found most difficult in terms of how much I had to work, and grow, and expand my knowledge, and really step it up to another level, were the methodology courses. I started off with the mandatory methodology course, which gives you an overview of the basics of writing a dissertation. As part of the exam, you have to write a mock 10-15 pages of a dissertation (consisting mostly of the methodology chapter and a short introduction essentially) and I got a B on this. I hadn’t really understood the depth I needed to go to get an A – mostly because I thought of qualitative methodology in a fairly superficial way. I retook the course the semester after and really pushed further (and I did get an A in the end). It wasn’t the lectures that really made me understand how rigorous qual research is conducted, but rather personal reading & another course I signed up for: a PhD course in Advanced Qualitative Methods, which is quite possibly the most significant course I’ve taken during my master (as it ended up being extremely significant for my PhD application). Loved every minute of it, even though it was quite tough in terms of how much work I needed to put in.

I’m also taking this semester a class on communication, and I think this one might be the hardest course perhaps, simply because it’s so different from all other courses I’ve taken. I know I can learn from papers & I know how to write well, so while I am indeed learning in each class, I’m not necessarily learning new skills. For this communication class instead, I really have to improve aspects that I wouldn’t otherwise, such as how I give presentations for example. It has been quite fun so far!

Alice gets her first tattoo. Because, why not? And Satori spends the day sliding on the water slide at her resort. Otherwise, she would cry all day. In the afternoon, she calls Bodhi for the first time.

"What's up, dickhead? Guess, who's calling you from her luxurious resort? I'm at the poolside right now and making 5K daily! Haa! By the way, our loving father is dead. If I'm going to spend the whole day crying, you should too! So, you're welcome."

New Midnight Sun Challenge, let's go! I'm playing on Crescent Isle from Krystal Masaki on MTS, which I saw by chance and thought looked fun enough that it inspired me to start this up. Though I'm not using their additional rules except not building walls until I've made 5k and that I have to buy any other lot before modifying it. Otherwise it's a basic MSC.

Our founder is Eve Wise, who I also decided to make a werewolf for fun. She's a Lucky, Nuturing, Over-emotional, Gatherer with a Green Thumb.

Unlike my last attempt at an MSC, it'll be pure gameplay and I will actually be travelling for spouses (mostly, if I go long enough I might bring a sim via one of the alternate means proposed in the world-specific rules for variety).

tak sobie myślałem o moim metaboliźmie o tym że apka sugeruje mi 1500kcal o tym że duzo conentu o oodchudzeniu sugeruje jest mniej wiecej tyle o tym ile ja jadłem i że powinienem jeść wiecej

i tak ja nie mam limitów a bardziej planowanie posiłków ale chyba muszę zacząc szaleć bo pomimo że to podejscie do odchudzania trwa 2 tygodnie dopiero to bez trudu byłem na mniej niz 1000 dziennie ( 700 bardziej zwykle immo ze sie strałem) wiec po prostu wiecej w tygodniu musze jeść jakichś fajnych potraw ta zupka ogórkowa byla taka pyszna polecam wam gotować zupy proste i starcza na kilka miseczek i ciepłe i wgl mniam i kcal tez moze miec mało w sumie.

zamowilem zajebiste batony bede jadl po bieganiu (dziś był taki upał że mi sie picie skonczylo w trakcie i nikt nie biegał tylko parę spacerowiczów a ja dodatkowo zrobiłem w nocy 1/2 pierwszego dnia z takiego workout challenge (chyba sie nazywa get ripped xD) btw prawie wyzionłaem ducha w nocy skacząc na tej macie dramat choć kondycja chyba minimalnie idzie w góre

jutro powinno dojśc ta opaska mi band 7, mozete batony (dzis jadlem z biedry go active 22 g bialka - chujowy smak fajna konsystencja tylko taki problem mam do niego że ta scala NUTRI SCORE daje mu D (skala A,B,C,D,E) czyli 2/5 - a to ma byc dla ludzi po ruchu fizycznym xD D to mają chrupki o smaku trruskawkowym ktore są zrobione z najgorszych śmieci...

i jeszcze zaczynam jeść beef jerky - 25g to juz fajna przekąska ma 69kcal ma 50g bialka na 100g a zatem 12,5g na paczkę 25g. Plus lubie se pożuc mięsko twarde a w polsce powoli to juz nie jest takie drogie jak kiedyś.

no wiec ogolnie fajnie moi widzowie glodny nie chodzę (jednoczezsnie mam swiadomosc ze mam sporo tluszczu wiec teraz mi te 1000kcal sluzy przy odchudzaniu ale kiedys moze wróce do nizszych liczb - jedno jest pewne że sobe na nich radzę bardzo dobrze)

aha jest 15 sierpnia wiec pół msc bez bingów i napadów itp (nie jest to moja slabosc ale warto dodac że moja metoda przynajmniej na mnie dziala na tyle dobrze ze nie grożą mi take rzecy a jak w nocy mam mysli o czym smacznym to zwykle to coś ma 20kcal na 100g typu kapusta kiszona)

Week 1! 🌊🏝

yay!! our first week on this island! i mean.. maybe not yay 4 our poor gwen.. -__-;

she almost immediately started painting which i think is so beautiful! she found the beauty in the bad.

i think she’s always been superrrrr interested in scuba diving but never thought it would be possible, until now! so we went snorkeling almost immediately ^___^

isn’t she so cute T____T GWEN!!!!!!!!!

then this happened….

what are you doing in the ground get out!!!!!! derp.

later on we decided, hey, maybe we should do some night fishing!

then we cuddled up in our little shack 4 the night.. 💤

next morning i took this GORGEOUS screen shot of her…. wow

i also upgrades her house just a tinyyyyyyy bit

nothing 2 special yet.

moreeeeee night fishing and the next day we decided 2 move our house over 2 a diving lot!!!

honestly…… really fucking scary down here 0___0;

but! we found a chest and also spotted an old merman… decided we wouldn’t talk 2 him. this time.

^ side note. the rules say you aren’t allowed 2 talk 2 mermaids but i LOVE mermaids and see no harm in it so ill be disregarding that rule during my play through. 🧜‍♀️🧜🧜‍♂️🌸

i haven’t mentioned this but it seems gwen LOVES 2 eat while sitting on the toilet -__-

at the end of the week i decided 2 upgrade her little abode a little more! scuba diving is definitely the way 2 go n___n

finally a real bed and shower! we’re definitely using that immediately.

i don’t know why it’s just so super cute 2 me T___T

but that’s really all 4 this week. i would say it was a pretty successful first sims week!

side note if any1 is reading and keeping track: i really don’t like how im documenting this series! i’m basically just saving screenshots as i save, putting them in their correct “week” folders. it just makes it hard 4 me 2 remember what exactly was going on and if i missed anything. luckily i i ot have 2 make 2 more posts like this ^__^ so anyway, if anything seems off or you’re missing anything, please excuse it! posts will be better so soon! ❤️💖💞💕💝💘💓❤️💖❤️💕
