I’m just now realizing that Timmy’s couture Haider Ackermann “sweatpants” are actually

TRACK PANTS!

No less than three fashion magazines have called them “sweatpants” in their headlines:

This does a disservice to Haider Ackermann’s clever design concept, an amalgamation of classic American street style, athleisure, and formal wear that references the lexicon of a tuxedo and gives it a uniquely “Timmy” spin.

So, sweatpants vs. track pants: What’s the difference?

Track pants have one or more stripes that run along the outer side of each pant leg. A single stripe is called a “tuxedo stripe” because it’s most often seen on tuxedo pants.

I think many of us missed the subtle, cheeky white satin tuxedo-stripe detail on Timmy’s track pants amid the blinding lights and flash photography on the Met Gala red carpet (which was actually beige). And so we assumed they were sweatpants.

But they’re not.

It appears that Haider Ackermann used a strip of the same duchesse satin fabric of his cropped double breasted tuxedo jacket down each of Timmy’s pant legs. So they coordinate with the jacket.

Why is this significant?

It’s only when we know the whole truth that we can accurately assess the reality about anything. These hits to our complacency in the Charmiesphere can feel unsettling but l prefer not to jump to conclusions until we know all the facts about recent developments.

I choose to let the snowflakes settle in the snow globe a bit before I decide what to think about it, when someone shakes up the world in some way. Sometimes our initial response to an unsettling event is not always the most logical or reasonable one.

Because none of us really know the truth about Charmie at this moment with any sort of clarity or confidence, I can feel just as certain that there’s something not wrong about Charmie, either, my dear Ms. Downer.

Time reveals the truth. And so I wait.
