Like with everything-

It begins with an accident.

You take a wrong turn somewhere, drop into another reality, someone drags you away and suddenly you're knee-deep in an operation in the middle of nowhere. There are a lot of instructions given to you and quite frankly you're only working on muscle memory that you know you've never had when the mission starts.

You have no idea what the hell is going on.

It gets worse when the team encounters their supposed target. There's plenty of screaming and things that shouldn't be alive (especially not like that) but truthfully you guys get pretty far in "containing" whatever the target is.

And then you die. Horribly, terribly, painfully.

Then, you wake up with your arm being dragged by someone else. They repeat the same phrases, word for word, and don't comment on your silence, the same as last time. You pay more attention to their words this time and hope maybe what happened before was just deja vu.

It isn't.

The scene repeats, over and over again. Sometimes you're the first to die. Sometimes not. Sometimes you're the last to die instead.

'This isn't going anywhere,' you think grimly as the ground opens up beneath you.

You had hoped that the team would be able to capture the target with just your small movements to not die. It isn't working. You know it's unrealistic to expect changes that don't come from yourself in a time loop but-

Well.

It doesn't matter in the end. You'll go back in time if you die and you're a little hopeless without everyone else on the team which means you'll die if they die too. Everyone has to survive to the end.

It takes a few more tries and a bit more “nudging” from you (and giving way more orders than your rank probably allows) before you make it to the end. Everyone gathers around, some injured but nothing terribly permanent or life threatening. You’re relieved.

But now that the fight was over, you finally got the chance to take a closer look at everyone. The badges on their arms showed a familiar symbol. The SCP Foundation.

'Sh*t,' you think.

You close your eyes. You're absolutely certain you aren't who they think you are but in the same vein, you don't know who you are right now either. A heavy hand lands on your back and you look to the side to see who it is.

"The rookie's pretty good, huh?" The commander laughs heartily and gives you a few pats.

"...Thank you," you answer politely, ducking down your head to hide your gaze.

"No need to be shy," another member chimed in. "We're going to be together for at least a little while longer."

Not a one-time unit then.

"C'mon, don't bother 'em 'bout that so soon. It's been a difficult mission. We gotta go back soon anyways."

It isn't long before everyone's shifting around and packing things up to head back to the site. You don't know which one and asking would only make you seem suspicious so you quietly follow behind the group as they chatter away.

There are a couple of things you learn along the way like how you're new to the Foundation, everyone's names and positions as well as what your own name is. It's the same as before. Later, in a room that is supposedly yours, the first thing you do is head into the washroom.

When you look into the mirror, it is your own face that stares back.

I don't know why (actually i know exactly why) cis white gay men act like they are the face of the lgbt community or the be all and end all of the lgbt community. to some extent cis white lesbians as well. whenever someone posts anything lgbt the cis white gay men love saying "I'm gay but this doesn't apply to me" to distance themselves from us so they can be one of the normals and we are the weird freaks.

like someone posted on smth recently how a pride parade wasn't gonna go ahead in their city and a cis white gay man commented "I'm gay but I think the government should spend the money on better things" like. okay ??? its not for you.

also even more infuriatingly that Instagram account that posts news with the spongebob fish made a post saying that Joe Biden has declared trans day of visibility is on the 31st March and people are pissed bcs its the same day as Easter. which is so not a news story because Joe Biden didn't declare shit, trans day of visibility has always been the 31st March, Joe Biden didn't invent it also who the fuck cares, Easter is on a different day every year and trans ppl being visible is not gonna ruin ur Easter plans fuckheads. but anyway so many cis white gay men in the comments were like "this is so unnecessary we already have pride month" or "I'm gay but this wokeism has gone too far"

I know this is very much a foot on the ladder of privilege and automatically push other people down type shit but cis white gay men don't just have a foot on the ladder they have been on the ladder and push the rest of us down while complaining about being oppressed. not to make this the oppression Olympics and shit but cis white gay men being the most privileged queer ppl with the most rights and the most support but still being the face of the lgbt community is what leads to things like gay marriage being seen as the be all and end all of lgbt rights and pride being seen as a party rather than a protest but what a fucking nightmare all round.

don't feel bad if you know that you are queer but haven't come out yet. coming out is very difficult and is unique to every person and their situation. coming out looks different for every queer person, no two queer people will have exactly alike coming out stories. you have no way of predicting how people will react. it's okay to be scared and to not know if you have the energy to take that plunge yet. it's okay to be intimidated by coming out, you don't have to rush it. it's okay to wait for a time where you are ready, that's the most important part is making sure You are ready to come out.
