This is a very belated @marveltrumpshate​ gift for @acachette​, who is one of the kindest people I've had the fortune of meeting in this fandom and who gave me a whole slew of fantastic prompts, all of which I wanted to write and some of which made their way into this story (pining Steve! Casual intimacy! Communication without a word!). Thank you for bidding on me and donating to a great cause, and thank you so much for your patience.

This took longer than expected because of everything that's been going on since 2020 and because I'm still sad enough about Endgame that it's hard for me to write Endgame fics even though I want to. I tried to work on this fic, then on another idea that was a lot of fun before I realized I had no idea how to write the whole thing, and then this one again for the past few years. Wash and repeat until yesterday when I was finally able to make a breakthrough! It took a long time to write it, but I think I’m happy with how it ended up.

I feel like I don't talk about it enough on here, but I love SiIvaGunner's fusion collabs in just about all forms they've taken. Sure, I've expressed my preference for the older style of collab, with their chaotic and unpredictable, yet still cohesive, nature (File Select Fusion Collab is still one of my all-time favorite rips!). But that preference doesn't equate to any sort of dislike for the current style of Fusion Collabs, of songs being split cleanly into sections to allow each artist breathing room to do their own arrangement - I love these for their own reasons just the same, and am always giddy to see a new one release. To the shock of nobody whatsoever, Balcony Fusion Collab was an absolute shoe-in for a favorite rip of mine immediately upon listening to it for the first time.

By the start of Season 4 Episode 1, 0a lot of things had changed with the Fusion Collabs since they began in Season 1. They were, for a while, mainly used to denote big events and moments, like how Patched Plains Fusion Collab was one big fanfare for the start of the Christmas Comeback Crisis, or the aforementioned File Select Fusion Collab denoting the end of Season 1. We'd get more of them made for character birthdays, notably for the first birthday of SiIvaGunner mainstay character Wood Man, but eventually...I feel like the collaborations began to feel a lot more "personal" in style. With rips like Balcony Fusion Collab, it felt less like it was made to denote and celebrate some huge event, and more...just to give praise and love to one of the most important indie games ever made.

I've made no secret that I'm a huge Cave Story enjoyer, and how much the game's music and world mean to me. Those feelings have simmered overtime, but in 2019 it really was a burning love - and I was absolutely overjoyed to see the Season start off with such an incredible collaboration that seemed to be directly in touch with my feelings on the game. There's so many different styles, many of which intentionally not being based on any particular source material, which ironically makes them all fit together to the tune of Balcony so much more seamlessly...its hard to put into words, but I'm eternally going to be thankful for l4ureleye and all other collaborators for getting this video together. The sheer love for Cave Story, and the love for music as a whole, shines through here harder than ever.

Si regresaron en 2017 entonces no estuvieron realmente con muchas personas, ya sea Taylor Hill o Hailee Steinfeld. No me creo eso de que Lauren haya abortado simplemente mierda que la gente inventa cuando no tienen nada que hacer.

40th day of 2023; how ironic.

Do you feel unaliving myself? That's the first question they ask. I actually hesitated for a split second, and due to the need for self-preservation and habit, I lied. So you don't need help fuck off. Don't waste my time. You don't need me. You need a friend, so fuck off.

Yup, that's what my therapist or one-time only said.

So life taught me I don't need anyone else help. Just do it myself. However, not everything can be solved with a friend. They have their own demons to fight. Also, I don't want to give my 2 only friends a panic attack by proclaiming that out of the blue.

Truth is, I felt that ever since I came into this world. Ever since I waited long enough to start to walk, I had to work harder than a normal person. Because sometimes I don't feel I'm normal. I mean, what is normal to me, might not be normal to you. Some people say I'm too straightforward. Some might say I'm too blunt. Either way, I can't please anyone just know how to read the room. Fuck I've been reading the damn room for so long; it's just damn tiring. Although, at times, it's necessary. I get it. Yet, I get the feeling sometimes. It went away for almost over 10 years; however, ever since 2019, it has started to creep up again.

2022 had been a crazy year of trying to find myself, ending my losing the battle against reality. A total of 4 jobs, except for 1 job, lasted me only a week. So technically, it's 5 jobs. That sucks, by the way. I felt I was going crazy. The first one was crazy, like people can't just leave me alone. Here I'm trying to learn, and these fuckers won't leave me alone. Like none of them gives me any fucking respect. In the next one, everyone puts the boss on a pedestal. I mean, if you did something significant, he knowledges but god forbid if anyone pointed out his shit. Yes, I also did my fair share of stupidity over the 6 months. I must give them credit for covering my ass for that. The last straw was when I had to be the messenger of bad news. I was trying to understand how they count their shit, but the big boss decided to change the MF calculation 2 months b4 oath-taking. ARE YOU FUCKING INSANE? Then he told the snr mgr to tell us the NEW way and inform the candidates; one of them, I had painstakingly handheld to make sure she understood and to tell her the revised way of calculating. I was livid is an understatement. Nope. I'm not going to take that BS way of making your staff listen to you and your staff to get abused by the candidates. The big boss did not care for his staff's well-being. I can't understand why my snr mgr could withstand his abusive ways for over 10 years. For the 3rd one, I was alone in the 2nd mth of the job. It was painful. My accounts were so far behind when the accounts asked me for it I was confused as I wasn't taught that. TL was an amazing pinoy. couldn't ask for a better team leader; they don't deserve her. But I felt so alone, and the tasks were piling up, and I was trying so hard to catch up. There were so many acrobatic moves to understand. It wasn't bad environmentally, but I don't see myself forever there. My last job broke my record of 1 week can be summed up with 1 word. Bitch/s. I guess I don't have the stamina to stand for uncultured swine. Work, work, work.

Now we come to the latest episode, Will I unalive myself today? I went for a job preview yesterday at a parks board. Their office is smack in the middle of it. No kosher food within 20m of the building. there are only 2 timings of free buses. oh, and no air-con in the storage room where they kept the boxes and boxes of paper files. ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? Even a library full of old books has air-con. Fine. Today I went to another informal/chit-chat session with the snr officers transport office. I admit I like the sense of power having to issue summons. Exciting. However, I felt like I shot myself in the foot again, and the environment would be exactly like the hospital, but I hoped it would be something like the clinic.

Overall I may lose both of them. I don't mind losing the park one, but...I can't cope with the transport one. Hence the episode, will I unalive myself today?

All I want is to be happy.

It’s the quiet that makes Sam draw up short, when he slides into the shadows and darkness of the hanger. Settling into lean against the durasteel wall, he presses his hand more firmly against his side — where his Commander’s blaster shot had skimmed him — and lets himself settle. Waiting, watching, to ensure none of his troopers had followed after him.

He goes to take a break, but finds a sob catching in his throat when the force — normally a soft, soothing lullaby of light and love and peace — twists with screams of agony and fear and pain.

His men had turned on him.

Which meant, his brothers and sisters, his family's men had turned on them as well.

Oh, he thinks, his eyes welling up with tears, that’s what he was feeling.

Their deaths.

Oh.

Squeezing his eyes shut, he presses his palm against the burning of his wound, and gives himself just a moment longer to feel the anguish and loss, before taking a breath and centering himself to release his feelings into the force.

There would be time later to properly mourn their passing, the loss of his people — of his entire culture's loss — but that time would come later. Once he was off Coruscant. When he was far away from the inner core, and this, this new Empire.

“Sam?”

Startling violently, Sam let out a hiss as he pulled at his wound, but didn’t let that stop him as he called his lightsaber to his free hand, igniting it as he moved into a defensive stance. It was only then, that he took in who was standing before him, staring like he didn’t understand what was happening.

It’s Bucky. He’s safe. He hasn’t been found by anyone he didn’t want.

“Sam?” Bucky calls, strangled and high pitch as his eyes adjust to the darkness and he sees the state the other is in. “ E chu ta !” He spits out, anger and worry twisting his face into a deep frown as he rushes forward. Gently, he presses his hand over Sam’s and lets out a low growl of anger. “Kriff, Sam, what happened to you?” he asks, as he moves his other hand up, to curl around the side of Sam’s neck, thumb pressing gently against the pulse point.

As if he needed to feel, to know, Sam's heart was still beating. Still thrumming with life.

“My, my men,” he murmurs out, words catching around the hard lump suddenly in his throat but cuts himself off. The words seemingly too much to speak into existence, even after living through what had happened. Instead, he swallows thickly, he tries to continue on haltingly. “I need to. I. I need to,” Sam cuts himself off with a low moan of pain, as he squeezes his eyes shut. He takes a moment, as long as he dares, before adding on, “Need, need to get off planet.”

Opening his eyes, he peers, pleads really, at Bucky, before quietly asking, “Will you help me?”.

Bucky stares, almost dumbfounded, before answering hoarsely, “Or course. Of course, Sam,” his tone laced with durasteel. “You don’t even need to ask. You know that.”

Tony was too old to feel bitter, but he wasn’t too old to be petty about the fact that he was born and raised in luxury and categorically refused to bat an eye or allow himself to feel impressed when presented with it.

But now, livid as he was? It only added to his anger, that Banner would be rewarded like this. The kid was all of twenty-three and clearly possessed the maturity of a child half that age – handing him this kind of opulence and telling him he deserved it was only asking for trouble. Or at least an ego the size of most small continents – and it wasn’t like Tony didn’t know from personal experience.

Fragile Snowman (Remastered)

Following up directly on yesterday's post, one of the most notable events that happened during Season 3, one that was covered with a lot of love by the SiIvaGunner team in MAGFest 2019: SiIvaGunner Presents - High Quality Ripping, was the Nostalgia Critic takeover. Somehow, despite running the blog for half a year's time at this point, I still haven't ever gotten to touch on this event, despite being one of the more fondly remembered parts of the Season. And, well, there IS kind of a reason for that?

See, what initially started as an event celebrating old YouTube reviewers in general (hence Inspector Gadget's presence during it and in the album), transitioned into a purely-Nostalgia Critic event - but rather than celebrating Doug Walker's legacy in particular, the takeover took a different approach. Playing on Walker's gimmick as a reviewer in particular, the event was focused specifically on being a "nostalgia"-event - in other words, aiming to specifically bring us in the audience back to the days of Season 1 through every rip uploaded. This theme wasn't quite as...immediately apparent as many other takeovers, be it with rips like Totally Shaaking Out Right Now in the Harlem Shakeover, or Fell From a High Place (Reprise) during the Minecraft music event. Because while those events pretty radically changed to a core theme, this nostalgia-themed event instead saw the channel return to a status quo it once had - reuploads of several prior-lost Season 1 rips, new rips that were intentionally simplistic and often off-key, and an overall focus on the kinds of jokes that were all the rage in Season 1.

It was a genuinely really fun time, yet it was simultaneously hard to think of a fitting rip to represent it all with - in my eyes, it's one of those events that only truly worked in the moment, surrounded by all these rips that formed a cohesive whole. But Fragile Snowman (Remastered) is as close as it gets, I think - a loving remake of a true classic of Season 1. I've talked before of just how much I love it when rips of all sorts get dug back up for another shot at live with Violet Snow Memories from earlier this year, and this event was really the first time that we ever got a concentrated dose of that feeling throughout an entire takeover - and despite the rip of today's post only being two years old at that point, the nostalgia for it had already set in for me.

As described by Chaze the Chat in the aforementioned MAGFest panel, a big part of the fun with Season 1 was its sense of...spontaneousness, that you never really knew what to expect due to there simply not being much of any expectations set up by prior channel history in the first place. And as a result, we got a lot of rips much like the original Fragile Snowman - a mashup between Snowman as featured in Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Fragile by Tech N9ne. There's a lot of rips like this even today, mashing up more chill video game music with hip-hop music that doesn't necessarily have much memetic quality, and while a lot of them can slip through the cracks of the SiIvaGunner audience, Fragile Snowman really did stick - enough to warrant two remasters made of it, with Fragile Snowman (Remastered) being the final stop the rip's made thus far.

There's so many small things fixed and tweaked in this final remastered version, yet it still sounds exactly as you'd imagine a mashup between the two songs to sound - which is, really, the best tell for it being an excellent remaster. The Nostalgia Critic takeover, while less bombastic and loud than many other events, was one that most every SiIvaGunner fan loved specifically because it focused on something we were ALL fans of - SiIvaGunner itself - and reminded us of just how far we'd come in just two short years. All these years later, there was indeed another event somewhat similar to this Nostalgia Critic takeover that happened just recently in Season 7, but...that's a story for another time.
