s3e12 war of the coprophages is actually a hilarious episode. mulder calling scully every time something comes up and her having a completely normal explanation. our glimpse into her home life as it happens. mulder who hates insects letting a pretty girl talk about them for hours. the random hanging up. scully's pomeranian. "you sure it wasn't a girly scream mulder?" scully eating the chocolate balls. the image of mulder's face through a roaches eyes. "you look pooped". the entire ending. this whole episode is written as a comedy with a random mystery on the side. i love them

a lot of these fans are scully hardcore fans who call mulder an asshole for fucking someone while scully is abducted and in danger and i’m like maybe let him have the one thing that makes him forget all this even for a split second and makes him stop the self flagellation for a moment ?? you know..
tbh i feel like kristen was kind of more an indulgence into self-hatred (and a sort of feeling of betrayal?) than anything else but i totally get what you’re saying anon and you’re so right like…omg…let me not speak…

saw your tags on that diana post!! the thing is. it wouldn't have worked if she showed up while scully was sick. and csm didn't really want scully to die but i think he's always been willing to sacrifice her if "necessary"
i think scully's cancer & mulder becoming jaded is why diana was sent in. mulder was so determined to save scully and he wasn't pushed into csm's arms to do it, he found another way. and then season five happened, and cassandra became involved, and mulder was pushing harder to expose the government conspiracy & pulling back on the alien aspects of it. diana coming in after this saying 'hey good catch,' saying she believes him, she's on his side and then getting shot. these are the things that drew him to her. and all of it amps up scully's insecurities sooooo much. like, he fled in detour and she accepted it. she's a liability with a chip in her neck who can only believe with concrete proof. cassandra & gibson were turning points for her. but then mulder ~needs her rationalism & science so she doubles down and then he gets so frustrated with her. she can't please him or help him and she's trying so hard. and while csm doesn't know everything, he does watch them. he is aware of a lot.
the timing is just sooooo calculated, it's incredible.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaabsolutely.
Eating your thoughts up with a spoon rn.
