Hello from the legendary Hofbräuhaus in Munich, Germany! I honestly didn’t know about this place, but my couchsurfing host showed this gem to me and it’s the most famous beer hall in the world. What? Beer is not my thing, but I need to experience this. Outside it doesn’t look like much, but once you step through the doors, there is live German music playing on instruments, the ceilings are painted with intricate figures and patterns, there is a beautiful outdoor beer garden, hundreds of people are having a good time, and my favorite part: the library of locked up beer mugs. There are regulars that frequent this beer hall for over 70 years and keep their personalised beer mugs stored in the Hofbräuhaus' dedicated safes. I also saw some of these regulars and they are totally dressed up in traditional German outfits. Just grand. Each country has their own rich history and I want to absorb it all. I may not know much about these countries before I get there, but I am richer with knowledge after I leave. Have you ever heard of Hofbräuhaus? Hello from Munich, Germany! My couchsurfing host so kindly is giving me a tour around his city! We took the bus and saw the super touristy, but also historical and part of Munich: the city center! I didn’t have any expectations coming to Germany, so am impressed by everything. My favorite part is walking around Marienplatz (a busy plaza) and watching the Rathaus-Glockenspiel, a famous clock tower that has life size dancing figurines. This is a good lesson for me. To have no expectations so that I am impressed by the outcome. I had really high expectations for Switzerland and was disappointed. The country was very expensive for my taste. I also really wanted to see the Matterhorn, but decided not to because it would be a rain ride in the cold in the opposite direction of where I wanted to go, so I decided against it, plus the closest city the Matterhorn is in, the hotels were super costly. I think it’s hard for me not to have expectations of places, and especially people and relationships. I hold myself to a certain caliber and put that same expectation on people. In some cases it lifts my circle higher, but in some cases it causes issues. Oh the dualities of life. Are you someone who can release the idea of expectations of places you visit or people?
