Thank you Netgalley and Publisher for this Arc!!
Found family, lgbtqia+ in the 1950's and a murder mystery! There is not much more that my soul could ask for.
A very popular soap maker dies and her wife wants someone to solve the case, but kinda secretly bc of her and her household's lgbtq status at that time. In other words, just trying not to draw attention. That's where the main character comes in. A disgraced cop who was just fired for being found in a compromised position during a police raid at a gay club.
He meets the lgbtqia family of Lavender house and gets a feel for what a real found family is. That he shouldn't have to hide a part of himself to be accepted and loved. This story touches on homophobia during the 1950's and can be quite triggering but I think it was done in a good way. I also really enjoyed the murder mystery, especially because it kept me on my toes till the end.
Out October 18, 2022!
Content Warnings for homophobia, violence and death

I went to Barns and Noble today and purchased a cozy mystery, Catch Me If You Candy, by Ellie AndersonπŸ‚πŸ“–πŸŽƒπŸ«ΆπŸΌ
I didn't know this was part of a series prior to my purchase, there are 17 or 18, I believe. Book 1 is called, Meet Your Baker🍰🍦πŸͺβ˜•

A Good Girls Guide To MurderπŸ”ͺ
5/5 ⭐️
I absolutely loved this book! It had me on the edge of my seat the entire time with all its twists and turns. The writing was phenomenal and the characters, especially Pip, and Ravi, were so well-developed and captivating. Pip's determination to uncover the truth was truly amazing , and the little romance subplot with Ravi was just the cherry on top, even if it was just crumbs until the end I ate it all up. Overall, if you're a fan of true crime or murder mysteries, I highly recommend this book. It's an amazing read that will keep you guessing until the very end.
Genre: YA, fiction, murder mystery

BRACELETS
Laid there as still as a ghost,
Ink oozing out scared the visiters of all nine coast.
Camera flashes and the plastic touches haunts the teenage girls the most.
The detectives and their magnifying glass look for a needle in grass, or a killer hair in the fatalities mess.
A little stab in the vein, death by poison is their only aid.
Wondering when justice will prevail, when the slayer trips and fails.
That's when they found the cab I hailed,
The emails I never mailed.
That's when they found out about the neighbours and blackmails,
And a little skin under my nails.
That's when her obsession for my possessions unraveled,
Caught her drinking tea in my house by the sea.
That's when they put a handcuff on her wrist, dangling along with my bracelets and rings.
Sight to behold it was, as my cold, dead lips curved into a victorious grin.
~ Leo

After reading AGGGTM, I have to say BECCA BELL is my favourite character. Best character in the book with a heartbreaking background. Very well written and built. Her story made me cry 😒 that ending scene in which she confesses everything to Pip…how her sister didn’t care about her pain and told her *she should be happy someone wanted her* IT BROKE ME😭

I have to admit, I enjoyed the first book more. Molly the maid still has the unique characteristics that make her so loveable and such a warm presence, but I also feel like some of that was a bit lost. However, this mystery and Molly kept me reading, and overall, I loved this story.
The chapters jump between a young Molly and the present Molly, which I felt was the perfect setup for revealing the truths in this mystery because both contained the victim.
It's been a few years since the last book, and Molly is now head maid. When she prepares the hotels new tearoom for a special V.I.P. guest, she is not expecting him to drop dead. Molly, once again, is in the middle of an investigation, but can she prove her innocence this time?
I really loved this. Molly is an amazing character, and I would love to sit down and have a cup of tea with her. This is a series that is comforting and perfect for curling up with in the soon to come winter months!
Out November 28, 2023!
