On the bus, Ali halfheartedly gazed out the window at the blurred streets of Bergamo. Jayden sat next to him, almost as still as a statue. Considering that Jayden had been the one to reinvigorate the team after Sunday’s loss to Palace, his deflated silence was extremely worrying.

Finally, Ali had had enough of Jayden's silence. The players that played the matches deserved to worry about this, not the under-20s drafted from the youth team that had only played a handful of matches and tried their best in every one of them. “Where’s your mind at, Jayden?”

Jayden sighed, leaning on the keeper's shoulder and closing his eyes. “I don’t know. It’s kind of weird, actually. We won and we kept a clean sheet, but we lost the tie and the chance to extend the boss’s legacy. Now he’s going to have his final game on the nineteenth of May instead of the twenty-second, and I couldn’t do—”

“Jade, you made your debut three months ago. Don’t be so harsh on yourself.” Ali ran his hands through Jayden's hair, tying it into a ponytail with one of his spare hair ribbons. “It’s almost midnight. You should try and get some sleep, you’re still a growing boy.”

“I’m eighteen,” he grumbled, though he still kept his eyes closed. “Kaylen and Hayla are the growing kids…”

“That’s what Muri always said about me when I was your age.” Ali waited for a response, but there was none. “Jayden?”

A light snore told Ali that Jayden was, indeed, fast asleep. He shook his head fondly, unzipped his backpack, and took out his jacket, wrapping it around the teenager’s shoulders.

“Sleep tight.”

Sport Expo Week: dall'11 al 17 marzo lo sport e i giovani saranno protagonisti a Verona con la 18° edizione Sport Expo. Da appuntamento fieristico del weekend l'evento si trasforma in una manifestazione che dura un'intera settimana con un ricco e articolato programma all'interno del quale si aggiungono un convegno divulgativo, Open Days pomeridiani per scoprire sport alternativi, Campionati Sportivi Studenteschi e Playground nelle diverse circoscrizioni per l'avviamento all'attività sportiva dei più piccoli. Dopo 17 edizioni, più di 500mila ingressi, oltre 140 testimonial sportivi e 60 discipline proposte, Sport Expo, l'evento che il Comune di Verona organizza dal 2007 per offrire agli studenti delle scuole primarie e secondarie di primo grado la possibilità di conoscere e sperimentare gratuitamente diversi sport, promuovendo uno stile di vita sano, si fa ben più grande e diventa Sport Expo Week: un'intera settimana dedicata alla promozione sportiva e al coinvolgimento dei giovani in tutto il territorio veronese. La consueta tre giorni presso la Fiera di Verona sarà preceduta quest'anno da Sport Expo and the City che, da lunedì 11 marzo a venerdì 15 marzo 2024, porterà lo sport capillarmente nel tessuto cittadino con diverse iniziative che coinvolgeranno bambini, bambine, ragazzi e ragazze dai 3 ai 20 anni. "Sono di parte quando parlo di Sport Expo perché è una manifestazione di cui dobbiamo essere orgogliosi essendo nata e cresciuta a Verona – commenta il sindaco Damiano Tommasi -. Ringrazio le istituzioni che sono sempre al fianco di questo progetto e ne danno qualità, energia e soprattutto serietà. Una proposta che non è solo provare delle discipline, ma anche valorizzare quello che lo sport può fare per le comunità giovanili e i nostri territori. La partecipazione delle amministrazioni e delle scuole, negli anni hanno dato valore a questa occasione. Un altro aspetto che voglio sottolineare riguarda l'obbligo di pensare allo sport e al suo valore anche in un'altra ottica. Su questo si incentreranno le riflessioni del convegno di apertura di lunedì, in cui si ragionerà sul ruolo dello sport. Un grande veicolo diplomatico che ha un grande ruolo a livello internazionale, di inclusione e che sa abbattere i muri. Avremo l'opportunità di confrontarci con il consigliere diplomatico del Ministero dello Sport Cristiano Musillo, gli atleti Sara Simeoni e Simone Perrotta, persone che hanno vissuto e vivono lo sport. Racconteranno il ruolo che hanno i cinque cerchi olimpici, che arriveranno fra due anni sul nostro territorio e che negli anni ci hanno raccontato tante storie. Sport Expo, con credibilità e consapevolezza, ha ben diritto ad essere il contenitore di questa tipologia di riflessioni. Sport Expo and the city - Il programma della settimana. Convegno. Ad aprire la settimana di Sport Expo Week sarà il convegno dal titolo "La tregua olimpica. Quando lo sport ferma(va?) le guerre", in programma lunedì 11 marzo 2024, dalle ore 9:30 alle ore 12:30, al Teatro Camploy. Interverranno figure rappresentative in diversi ambiti per parlare del ruolo dello Sport come agente diplomatico e motore di pace, riflettendo sulle dinamiche del contesto attuale in vista delle prossime Olimpiadi parigine. Tra gli ospiti Diana Bianchedi, Chief of Strategic Planning and Legacy di Milano Cortina 2026, Campionessa Olimpionica Barcellona 1992 e Sidney 2000; Cristiano Musillo, Consigliere d'Ambasciata Ministero dello Sport; Giampaolo Mattei, Presidente Athletica Vaticana; Sara Simeoni, Campionessa Olimpionica Mosca 1980; Simone Perrotta, Consiglio direttivo AIC Onlus e Campione del Mondo 2006. Il convegno è aperto a tutti, ma rivolto in particolare agli studenti del Triennio delle Scuole secondarie di secondo grado. Il sindaco di Verona, Damiano Tommasi, e il vescovo Mons. Domenico Pompili porteranno i saluti iniziali. A moderare l'incontro sarà il giornalista Alessandro Alciato. Fuori Expo. Da lunedì 11 marzo, fino a venerdì 15 marzo, prenderà il via il Fuori Expo, aperto ai ragazzi e alle ragazze dai 15 ai 20 anni. Le società sportive organizzeranno, direttamente nelle loro sedi, Open Days di sport poco diffusi, ai quali sarà possibile partecipare gratuitamente tra le ore 15:00 e le 18:00. Nello specifico, lunedì 11 le società sportive coinvolte saranno A.S.D. King Rock Climbing e Fondazione Marcantonio Bentegodi; martedì 12 l'A.S.D. Taki No Kan; mercoledì 13 l'Esercito con l'85° RAV Verona, l'APS Equestre Horse Valley ASD, l'AICS Eventi ASD, l'Accademia Crown ASD, l'ASD CUS Verona e Fondazione Marcantonio Bentegodi; giovedì 14 Veronascherma SSD; venerdì 15 nuovamente l'A.S.D. King Rock Climbing. Tornei studenteschi. Nelle mattinate tra martedì 12 marzo e giovedì 14 marzo 2024 si terranno tornei rivolti ai giovani, Allievi e Juniores, delle Scuole Secondarie di Secondo grado, in collaborazione con l'Ufficio Scolastico Provinciale. Ogni giorno sarà dedicato a uno sport diverso tra Basket, Pallavolo e Calcio, e si concluderà con una festa finale dove verranno premiati i campioni provinciali. Martedì 12 marzo protagonista la pallavolo al Centro sportivo Le Grazie, mercoledì 13 sarà dedicato al Basket 3V3 al Palazzetto Gavagnin, mentre giovedì 14 marzo spazio al Calcio a 5 al Centro sportivo De Stefani. Ogni giornata si concluderà con una festa finale dove verranno premiati i campioni provinciali. Insieme agli atleti delle diverse squadre saranno coinvolte anche figure professionali, con l'intento di realizzare un evento coinvolgente, divertente, ma anche istruttivo. Ogni istituto avrà la possibilità di formare un team Comunicazione (composto da Social media manager, Video reporter, Fotografo e Giornalista) e un team Tecnico-sportivo (composto da Team manager e Assistenti di squadra). In palio la partecipazione a una conferenza stampa e a una partita di una squadra tra Verona Volley, Scaligera Basket o Hellas Verona, a seconda della giornata nella quale si risulterà vincitori. Playground. Per i bambini dai 3 agli 8 anni, da lunedì 11 marzo a giovedì 14 marzo 2024, dalle 15:30 alle 18:00, saranno attivati nelle diverse circoscrizioni Playground per l'avviamento all'attività sportiva dei più piccoli. Ogni giorno saranno due le circoscrizioni coinvolte: lunedì 11 marzo la I circoscrizione al Parco Giochi Santa Toscana e la VI circoscrizione nell'Area Casorati; martedì 12 marzo sarà attiva l'Area San Martino in II circoscrizione e il Parco Umago per la V circoscrizione; mercoledì 13 marzo playground in III circoscrizione presso la Piastra Polifunzionale Saval e in VIII circoscrizione presso il Centro Polisportivo Di Quinto; infine giovedì 14 marzo IV circoscrizione presso la Piastra Tirso e la VII circoscrizione presso il Centro Ca' Bianca. Sport Expo - Il programma del weekend. Nel fine settimana, da venerdì 15 a domenica 17 marzo 2024, sarà riproposto il consueto appuntamento in Fiera per i bambini dai 6 ai 14 anni che in un unico luogo troveranno diverse discipline sportive da scoprire e sperimentare. Qui i padiglioni numero 10, 11 e 12, per un totale di 60mila mq, accoglieranno i giovani e le loro famiglie per promuovere l'inclusione e un sano e corretto stile di vita, fondato sulla pratica sportiva e sulla corretta alimentazione, grazie alla partecipazione di federazioni e società di Verona e provincia. Il venerdì sarà dedicato alle scuole e gli istituti del territorio veronese e veneto, già 90 le classi iscritte, faranno visita all'evento, mentre sabato e domenica sarà dato spazio alle famiglie, con un calendario fitto di eventi articolato tra sport tradizionali e altri più innovativi. Sport Expo ha visto partecipare all'ultima edizione oltre 40.000 persone che hanno visitato i 40 stand espositivi in rappresentanza di 60 diverse discipline sportive. Come ogni anno aiuto arriverà anche dagli studenti tirocinanti di Scienze Motorie del Dipartimento di Neuroscienze Biomedicina e Movimento dell'Università di Verona. Expo Qrcode La novità di quest'anno è l'Expo QRcode, per rendere più facile a bambini e famiglie ricordare gli sport provati all'interno dell'area espositiva. All'ingresso in fiera verrà consegnato a ogni bambino un braccialetto con un QRCode numerico casuale che non contiene alcun dato, mentre a ogni stand sportivo un volontario scannerizzerà il braccialetto e registrerà lo sport provato da ogni bambino. Al termine di Sport Expo verrà inviata una mail agli accompagnatori contenente tutte le informazioni sui vari sport praticati dai bambini, attraverso la quale sarà possibile accedere alle pagine correlate a queste attività. Muritala Yakubu-Ajaka to accept the result of the Nov. 11 governorship election in good faith. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the groups, who staged a rally round the streets of Lokoja metropolis carrying placards with various inscriptions, begged Yakubu-Ajaka and his supporters not to do anything that would set the state on fire. The groups said that Kogi belongs to all indigenes and residents alike irrespective of political, tribal or religious leanings, and must be cherished, nurtured and preserved, not to be burnt down. Mr John Dele, who spoke on behalf of the youth said nothing must be allowed to affect the peace being enjoyed in the state under the administration of Gov. Yahaya Bello. “Our joy is that the off-cycle governorship election was the freest and fairest in the history of our state. “We, therefore, urged aggrieved parties, who might still want to contest its outcome to go about it in line with laid down guidelines instead of harassing the electoral umpire and the opposition,” he said. Dele called on security agencies to rise to the occasion to maintain the existing peace in the state. He also urged the Governor-elect, Usman Ododo, to ensure that the incumbent’s legacies in the area of peace and security were sustained. Kolkata Chromosomes.

In the streets of Ho Chi Minh city, on a lazy afternoon, groups of older women often sit by road side shops sipping rice wine, gossiping and puffing on pungent smelling cigarette rolls. The smell of broth and fish lingers in the air and people are in no great hurry to go anywhere. The only thing that probably should connect Kolkata to Ho Chi Minh city would be a certain shade of red. However, as I sat opposite the gaggle of ladies, just enjoying their drink and smoke, the scene reminded me of Kolkata. It reminded me of the addas of old, Bengali gentlemen who enjoy their fish chops with liqueur tea and discuss politics and poetry. And as I write this, I realize that’s what great cities do to you. You don’t miss the Eiffel from Paris, the Statue of Liberty from New York or any other cityscapes. You miss the emotion. The emotion that the city represents, how the city made you feel.

Kolkata, is not everyone’s cup of tea. You will come across people with very strong, extreme emotions about the city. If you are asked to describe Kolkata, you might think of Durga Puja, Fish, Ambassador taxis and Victoria View and other visible aspects. Some sports enthusiastic will associate it with Eden Gardens perhaps. Strangely, I remember Kolkata, from a different perspective. I don’t miss the winter solitude of the Maidan, the severe British hangover, the fish obsession or the Rosgullas. I miss the more mundane aspects of the city. I miss the smell of Tangra style chili chicken wafting through streets, the Bougainvillea vines ornamenting the houses on the street. I miss the nolen gur ice-cream and the Calcutta meetha paan,  Park Street lit up on Christmas, the spicy, rum soaked raisins from Flurrys’ plum cake and the shy, rusty cling-clang of the tram. I miss mustard oil in my masala muri, the vibrant, bright colors of Bengali handloom sarees. The noon siestas when shops close after lunch, the gentle use of time, idyllic pursuits of music and Robibarer Mangshor Jhol.

The city is more than the architectural whisper of the Raj, landscaped gardens and the presidency town hangover. True Kolkata is to experience the warmth, the uniqueness of a typical Bengali bari. The interior narrative of the typical porch on the ground floor, the red oxide floors, wooden slatted Venetian blinds painted in green and open terraces with fluttering laundry is simply beautiful. As an architecture enthusiast, lazy Saturday post- lunch afternoons were spent strolling down, gazing at Bengali houses lining the narrow streets. What is unfortunate is that the economically depressed city no longer affords the luxury of the upkeep of these houses.  Soon the dilapidated houses will be ‘developed’ into urban properties and there will be no semi-circular balconies and angular verandahs adorning the promenades. The old-world charm of Kolkata deeply imbued with its cultural legacy will be lost.

Visit Kolkata during the FIFA world cup and be ready to swim in an ocean of emotion. The paras, local community groups, will be decorated in Argentina and Brazil colors. You will see effigies of Messi erected on streets and families will come together to debate and discuss the matches in the evening. Visit Kolkata during Durga Puja, to experience the energy of the dhunuchi and see the mild, slow city come to life. The city reminds me of the spirit of joie di vivre with the regular addas for no reason and the subtle enjoyment of doing nothing. Reading the Landscape

This month, we are celebrating a few of the authors, journalists, and poets associated with places that we now know as part of the National Park System. The NPS helps to preserve the legacy and perspective of  writers through park cultural landscapes, allowing us to envision the places in which their words were imagined.

The NPS preserves places that are associated with the literary contributions of specific individuals, like John Muir National Historic Site and Edgar Allan Poe National Historic Site, but literary discoveries are not limited to those parks.

Some of these written expressions are our first introduction to a place, leading us to it or reflecting the historic character of a park cultural landscape. Others reveal the author's unique relationship to those surroundings. Sometimes, the landscape acts as the entryway to discover the writing, giving dimension to the words.

Steadily, the adventure goes rise from the Italian Camp to Dhaulagiri Base Camp. After a brilliant minute at Base Camp, venture enticed to cross the French Pass then to Hidden Valley. HISTORY  IN AFRICA  : In  1849 , kraft  discovered Mt.Kenya.And Rebman  discoverd Mt.Kilimanjaro. In 1875 , Kabaka Mutesa l  of Buganda  invited  Church Missionary Society (CMS). In 1500, Early Portuguese Missionaries  came  in Africa. In  C19th. Other Missionary Groups arrived  Egs : 1.CMS 2.RCM ( ROMAN CATHOLIC  MISSIONARIES ). 3.The  Lurtherans. 4.The Orthodox  Missionaries. 5.The  Holy Ghost  Father. In 1909 , Nkwame  Nkoumah  was  born in Ghana. He  was  Anzima  by  Tribe.Was  Educated in acatholic  School. He  Qualified  as  a Teacher. He  attended  : ACHIMATO  UNIVERSITY  IN GHANA. ACCRA  UNIVERSITY  IN GHANA. And  later went  to AMERICA where he qualified as  the Lawyer. In  AMERICA  joined Politics  of Africa  in the Diaspora  and   Elected as  president of African Student Organization  in America. In  1947  , India  got  her  Independence In   1945 , Jommo  Kenyatta of Kenya  went  at  the Manchester  Conference  as  African  Elites.Even   Kamuzu  Banda  of  MALAWI   went  there  also  as  the African  Elite.Nkwame  Nkurumah  of  Ghana  came into  contact  with  black  Negroes. The Make Music Lagos organizing team, made up of Showgear and its partners, are happy to announce that the 2019 edition of the week-long celebration of World Music Day in the city of Lagos will run from 16th June to 23rd June with the theme: GENERATION NXT.  This edition, which is aptly named Make Music Lagos: Generation NXT, promises an exciting and one of a kind line-up of brand new and returning events starting on Sunday 16th June and Monday 17th June with surprise FLASH MOBs that will feature dance and drum display sessions by the Alien Nation Dance Crew and drum maestro, Ochuko in 2 mystery locations in the city of Lagos. And following the big start is the Make Music Lagos’ LEARN TO PLAY initiative, which is designed to teach and mentor the next generation of instrumentalists, on Tuesday 18th June and Wednesday 19th June at Lagos State Education District 1, Agege and on Saturday 22nd June at the Pacelli's School of the Blind, Surulere.
