Theresa’s Sound World recommendation:
I really enjoy watching the music video essays by Trash Theory on YouTube. A few of the essays that I enjoyed the most were ones on Hüsker Dü, The Prodigy and Fugazi, plus The Grunge video is excellent too. These video essays are insightful, well-researched and edited. Here’s a video from a few years ago that I found absolutely fascinating, the story of ‘How Soon Is Now?’ by The Smiths ⭐️

practicing classical violin brings some so much misery. it’s so demanding and i can’t keep up because i didn’t start early enough. even finding a piece i enjoy brings me pain to play because of how much love i’ve ended up losing. i practice and practice and i’m trying to record more of my practicing sessions but it still feels like it isn’t enough. what more does it want from me?

What Will Daniel Caesar Do Next?
I personally love stories like this. Internally, for Daniel Caesar, he might possibly have been battling a number of things over the years. With the life of being a ‘public figure’, an artist, a contemporary black man — well, there’s scrutiny.
Some of the battles one in that position might face is, the urge to give a damn what others perceive of oneself, the journey of overcoming the natural…

Album Review
Hello, as other metal and industrial fans may know, KMFDM released their new album titled “HYËNA” and I have some opinions.
So to start off, I’m not going to say the album is not good, what music is good is subjective. With that being said, I don’t like it, it’s not my taste at all.
It seems as if since KMFDM’S release of their 2017 “HELL YEAH” album, they’ve slowly had a style change. Hyëna has a very strange style that almost has country or reggae influences at times. I love diversity in band’s music, however with bands like KMFDM who have such a well rounded ongoing theme, it just doesn’t work in my opinion. With each album they make, the more they stray further from their sleezy and provocative industrial style.
What drew me to KMFDM in the first place was the way their lyrics were delivered with such provocation and force that made you feel as if you’re being lifted by your scruff and yelled at through a megaphone.
With Hyëna, that power just doesn’t seem to be there. Instead of poetic and indestructible lyrics like “Wolf in sheep’s clothing, the ultimate disgrace. Wrapped up as a gift of God exploding in your face.” That are delivered with a forcefulness and assurance that makes those otherwise seemingly random sentences sound powerful.
Their recent music gives me the impression that KMFDM is trying to make a strong statement for themselves but in my eyes it just seemed soulless. The album desperately wants to dig the emotions out of me the way their past albums may have, but it simply just lacked the substance and punch and ended up feeling corny and left me disappointed.

On Theresa’s Sound World…A continuing series in no particular order…my favourite song by a beloved band or artist
#15 ‘The Seventh Seal’ by Scott Walker
⭐️Plus…Connections: This song is inspired by one of my favourite films, the 1958 Ingmar Bergman classic, ‘The Seventh Seal’ (Trailer in the first link below). Also, in the second link, my favourite parody of the movie, sent up perfectly by Bill & Ted…
