Charlie Walker’s music taste | headcannons

Just some of my opinions on music I think Charlie would listen to. Just some short stuff while I’m home sick with covid :(

• starting off super easy he would 100% have a full playlist of his favorite songs from horror movies.

• I feel like he’d listen to Metallica, but like only a handful of songs, he’d definitely get called a poser by annoying metalheads 😭

• I like to think he’d be fairly versatile in his music taste, branching out into a lot of alternative music subgenres

• Charlie religiously listens to The Cure you’re not changing my mind (not because I love the cure or anything..😃)

• he frequents goth&goth rock but also grunge ????

• he loves Nirvana & branched out into Foo Fighters because of Dave Grohl

• really likes Hole’s music but is conflicted because of Courtney Love

• he’s not a huge fan of nu metal but enjoys Deftones for sure!!

• not a pierce the veil stan per say, but he did scream cry to “bulletproof love” when dealing with his first heartbreak

•He’s 100% the type who loves the music but knows absolutely nothing about the band with the exception of a handful of bands.

• definitely listens to “Tear you apart” at least once a day.

• the occasional listen to Asking Alexandria or Motionless in white to spice things up for him.

• this man has an INSANE vinyl collection. You can tell he’s poured hundreds of dollars into amassing it

• he always gets soooo excited to show off his fav vinyls & rushes to show you his new finds <333

• some might think he’d be an ICP guy, but he couldn’t really get into them

• he loves to burn CD’s, not just for himself but he makes them for you constantly.

• he puts together playlists he thinks you’ll like or just songs that remind him of you and burns you a CD of them.

• spotify user for sure

• finds himself humming along or tapping his foot to Lady Gaga when she’s on the radio maybe even singing along, but he would NEVER admit that. He says he’s “never heard her music.”

He is smart, as we established in our headcanons, but he might feel like that he always had to prove himself, he is a natural, but he doesn't feel like it.

I know this song is about grooming and also probably one of my favourites, so I know what I am talking about here, but I imagine this song to be applied to the relationship that he had with the deadeaters, voldemort and also his parents. Everybody used him, and he was so young, so naive.

It’s time for music headcanons with the batfam, bc if I don’t get this out of my head and onto page, I’m going to implode.

Fave first, Dick is definitely a indie pop/indie rock kinda boy. Not just because I identify with that, but also bc he gives me those overly energetic, bubbly vibes, that I feel like only come from Grouplove, Vampire Weekend, and Adam Melchor. I also feel like he’s a Mitski and Boygenius kinda bitch, bc ough, boY, he has angst. Said angst can only be expressed through sad girl music, bc he will die before he ever expresses his feelings about anything to anyone.

NEXT we have Jason, I think he’s an emo ass boy, ngl, but specifically like folk punk. He listened to twin sized mattress one time, broke down crying, and hasn’t looked back. Also things like The Mountain Goats, PUP, or Modern Baseball. Ugh, I could make a whole ass playlist for this boy. If he’s with other ppl, I think he’d play something more mainstream of the emo genres, like Arctic Monkeys or The Strokes.

DAMIAN, I THINK, IS COMPLICATED. So, for one thing, he grew up in a weirdo environment, where they probably never listened to music, and if they did, it was “”tasteful”” music, for rich ppl. That, or it was culturally significant. So, I think I’m his exposure to music after moving in with Bruce, he started just absorbing absolutely all the music he could. Like, he’s an everything enjoyer. His spotify liked songs are a minefield, bc one second it’ll be playing Chet Baker, next it’s Viagra Boys, then some country shit, then Chopin, and then it’s Lil Nas X.

BABS, I think, would be a folk music/sad girl music enthusiast. She really likes Ryan Adams, Phoebe Bridgers, Hoizer, Mitski, etc. It’s something that she and Dick bonded over when they first started dating. I think with her, she appreciates the calm/slightly sad music bc she lives in a rlly crazy world, and she just wants to meditate a little when she’s sitting at that desk all day, trying to keep her family and friends alive.

Timmyyyyyy is a Kpop enjoyer. Sorry, I don’t make the rules. Specifically, he probably likes SEVENTEEN or ATEEZ a lot. He actively tries, every day of his life, to not stan any of the members, but it’s rlly hard when he’s had two hours of sleep in the past week, and Yoon was just really cute in that last interview. I also think he’s really into trap and pop. He knows all the lyrics to every recent song on the top 100 list.

Duke, I think is really into R&B. I think he’s amenable to pop/rock/rap, etc., but he really just wants something to belt out. Common occurrences are finding him in the kitchen, making an omelette, singing Amy Winehouse at the top of his lungs. If u catch him doing it tho, he gets rlly shy. His guilty pleasure is theatre music. He has to bribe his family to go see Little Shop of Horrors with him.

Stephanie has a 2000s-2010s pop addiction. Anything that makes her feel like Hannah Montana is her SHIT. She’s out here blasting Bubblegum Bitch and early Taylor Swift. You also can and will find her crying to sad One Direction songs. When she’s moody, she will unironically play My Chemical Romance. She understands pop punk a lil bit, but the lyrics tend to get male-manipulator-y, so she sticks with the bands she already knows.

Alfred likes 50s/60s jazz/pop. Frank Sinatra, Chet Baker, etc. It reminds him of home, and of his family. He also really likes old French music, like Joe Dassin. I’m ngl, I don’t know old music enough to add more to this one, but u get the idea 😭

BRUCE. Ugh. He’s definitely the kind of dad who never moved past the music of his childhood. He firmly believes that the Beatles is the best band of all time, and no one can convince him otherwise. I think he tends to gravitate towards the rock/goth end of 70s/80s music, so things like the Cure, New Order, maybe a lil bit of Siouxsie and the Banshees. His goth phase was INTENSE, Alfred can attest to this.

Edit: HOLY SHIT I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT CASS 😭😭😭

Ok, Cass is defo a similar situation to Damian, grew up with literally silence, so music is a super new thing to her. But I think she really enjoys all kinds of genres. I think that especially instrumentals get her, bc it’s just noises that she can focus on, no lyrics to distract her from the sound. I think she also likes to “sing” along to said instrumentals, but mostly it’s just making noises to the same beat and sound, but it’s very off-key.

Lucifer

Definitely listens to classical music, mostly by record too.

Likes piano covers of songs, especially if they sound reminiscent of classical music.

Could also see him humming a song that a brother/MC has been playing on repeat.

Prefers little to no lyrics, so he can listen while working and focus, or to relax. (^_^)

What music do each of the Batfamily members listen to?

Bruce: the man almost solely listens to classical or smooth jazz on an old fashioned record. He's very picky about which black metal bands he listens to and will often have to get custom records because of how underground it is.

Dick: he's not picky but he has his favs. Mainly Kesha, ABBA and other dance bops, but he'll listen to anything upbeat. Survivor and Van Halen also hold places in his heart.

Jason: listen he won't admit it, but he adores Gaga and Katy Perry. His general music lends itself to classic rock, grunge, and alt rock though. He and Dick have a very similar list of top artists.

Tim: video game sound tracks and Weezer. I'm sorry he ironically started listening to Weezer only to become trapped.

Damian: he doesn't like music. Kidding, he's still discovering genres and tends to find himself leaning towards doom metal or midwest emo.

Steph: she likes everything. No really she'll listen to anything.

Cass: she likes stuff that she can dance to and feel. Which doesn't actually say anything about the actual dancablity of the song. She likes music without lyrics and desires to feel the song.

Babs: she finds herself listening to 60s music as a whole more often than not. Also a fan of movie soundtracks.

Alfred: he would be lying if he said he wasn't a fan of folk songs. They're a great hum while cleaning the manor. Other than that he's a classical man.

Buggy: hard rock and metal for sure. Man is screaming his deepest insecurities and trauma on the regular

Mr. 3 Galdino: classical music. Mmm, Sophisticated. Brilliant. Goes perfectly with some earl grey and an intellectual god complex. Almost everything about him centers around his perceived strategic abilities. I want to ask if he’s okay inside. Like hey, do you happen to have any all-natural self esteem in that big brain of yours, bud? Or is it all just artificially flavored?

Crocodile: I wanna say something funny like “flat fuck Friday”(***) but I think he’d want to kill me and that’s also not a legitimate music genre, so probably the suspenseful music they use in war scenes. Yea

Dracule Mihawk: Emo music emo music EMO EMO EMO. He’s the result you’d get if you mixed every My Chemical Romance song together and personified them in a lab run by Stephenie Myer istfg

Mr. 2 Bon Clay: he’s clearly early 2000s pop. I feel no need to elaborate on that one

Here are my music headcanons for the ninja and other characters!

Lloyd: Cheesy pop and screamo metal. No in between

Kai: Rock

Jay: Kpop (he secretly dances along to the music videos, but will deny anything and everything when questioned)

Cole: same as canon (soft rock), as well as some folk (because I can't not go projecting on my favorite character lol)

Zane: Whatever happens to be on the radio, as well as meme songs (he rickrolls tf out of everyone lmao)

Nya: Chill/upbeat chill vibes

Pixal: Classical (of all eras) and instrumentals (she likes to put music on while working on other things, and can't focus if the music has lyrics)

Wu: Traditional (whatever sort of Asian you headcanon him as) music. (I like to say traditional Japanese music, like with the big drums and cool flutes, mostly because I have a CD with that stuff on it that I listen to all the time lol)

Skylor: The exact opposite of whatever plays over the speakers in Chen's Noodle House. She'll listen to ANYTHING except for that

Sora: Cyberpunk (I couldn't resist lol), and just basically anything that was banned in Imperium

Euphrasia: Traditional Cloud Kingdom music (whatever that is), and soft, folky music with the most depressing lyrics you've ever heard in your life

Wyldfyre: Soft piano/string quartet music (it calms her down most of the time, but you can also go fucking wild to any sort of music. I know from experience lol)

fun thing about a dead fandom is i can say what i want and there’s hardly any people around to disagree with me. for example:

the miragen and kagami are all metalheads, and its kagami’s fault (sans aomine). he listens to everything you can imagine from nu-metal to kawaii metal to neue deutsche harte. his playlist could go from gimme chocolate to meat hook sodomy back to back and he wouldn’t bat an eye

kuroko got into it not by choice, but bcus of how much time he spends with kagami. no he does not like cannibal corpse, but oomph! and plastic tree aren’t too bad.

kise likes the grunge, the glam, and the gothic. he likes alt rock mostly, though, because it’s a little more pop music-ish than other metal genres. slowly, though, he could probably assimilate doom metal into his mix.

bcus they’re kids from money, akashi and midorima don’t venture too far into metal, but kagami introduces them to some symphonic and neoclassical. it’s not much, but its something. madmans esprit is more modern than when knb is set, but kyuho’s music is a decent reference to what they’d listen to. specifically stairway and the conscientization of unconsciousness album

murasakibara would be into industrial, i think. maybe some black metal, but i personally stay away from that genre bcus some of the artists are, well… not great people. trad heavy metal is another go-to genre for him

(for the murahimu fans: himuro, like kagami, is a big metal fan. mura gets a lot of recommendations from him)

aomine’s not as into metal as kagami is, but i think he’d be into dir en grey (and eventually xaaxaa, but they first started releasing music in 2016 lmfao). plastic tree, too, and maybe l’arc. i’m thinking visual kei stuff.

and to branch off that ☝️ the reason he got into deg is bcus he watched the raison detre video and there were naked ladies. need i say more?
