Music genres that don't exist but should because i personally would like to listen to them
- REDM (Rock Electronic Dance Music) - imagine making sheet music out of edm songs and giving them to a rock band. I would like that. A lot. Every time i listen to EDM im like "it needs an electric guitar" and i know im right.
- Classical Any% - this is more a sport, but it is an idea of taking classical pieces and playing them on piano as fast as humanly possible whilst hitting every note correctly. Rythm doesnt need to be maintained i feel like streamlining all the notes would make it better. "What are you listening to" "Sabre Dance ANY%WR"
- Blacklight Goth - imagine a child between darkwave and hyperpop. Very upbeat, minor keys, echoy and haunting vocals and gothic lyrics. And if we wanna make this a subculture and add fasion then i think it should be like goth on acid with neon colours and probably bowling alley carpet print everywhere, but a goth sillouette. Think new wave but way more extreme and out there.
- Maximalist Rap - not really a new genre but i just need more people rapping fast over really busy music. You've heard the mashups. You've seen how viral they can get. There is an appeal, its not just me.
- FNAFPUNK - FNAF as a music genre exists but people are scared to let it breach the containment of fan songs. I think we should let this kind of evil electronic music with heavily edited and robocised inaudible vocals into just general life. It fits the current climat we have with AI. You could write dystopian, anticapitalist, doomer bangers with this sound or honestly even creppy love ballads. The FNAF cover of Shape Of You is one of my favourite songs of all time, no joke.
- Orchestral Techno - you remember the sheet music for EDM being given to a rock band? Give sheet music for techno to an orchestra and see what fucking happens. Yes i was in music school how did you guess.
- Classical +1 Drummer - its just normal classical music but theres just some guy showing off on the drums in the corner. He needs to be obnoxious. Its crucial to the expirience. There are a few ep's using this concept but not nearly enough. I think this would fall under the breakcore umbrella
- Hyperpop Showtune - again not sure if its a genre or just a concept i want to see but if we can have a hiphop musical i want a hyperpop musical. I want a musical with pre recorded songs whos vocals are so fried and edited you couldn't possibly do that live. I want the speking parts to be edited too. Like imagine vocaloids making a musical together. I need to hear that and i feel like if im ever gonna see it anywhere its gonna be at a drag show
- Disco Punk - Disco sound and choreography with hardcore punk lyrics. It would be best if the band was dressed in 70's clothing but had punk hairstyles and makeup. And they would play exclusively on gay weddings. This could be your career.
I keep thinking of the Swiss Guard at the Sistine Chapel saying "silencio" at a regular interval to hush the crowd at such an important piece of the Catholic Church's history.
Isolate that sound from the crowd, maybe add in some gospel or hymn remix in the background so you have a steady beat, a lighter side of religion pierced by that "silencio".
That would be such an amazing base for a rap. It could be about religious trauma or the Church's hypocrisies, right-leaning politics with Christian talking points, current events...anything really.
I just really want some part where the artist talks about speaking up when that "silencio" booms out. This could start the chorus, pivot the verse, or even end the song in, well, silence.
I think it'd be cool if I did a collaboration with a visual artist where I made music that tries to match the vibe of one or multiple of their artworks
Random thought, but I'd love to see a completely serious game where the characters acknowledge the background music. I'm sure some goofy, 4th wall breaking game has, but I want one where it's somehow taken seriously and is a part of the story.
It'd make a lot more room for different types of music to be used! Especially ones that may not be traditional background or ambient music. I can think of like 5 separate ideas as to how this idea could be used and make sense lol.
