I decided to leave this comment on a Ms Marvel ad on Instagram due to the baffling amount of hate in the comment section. And since I know there are a lot of MCU fans here on tumblr, thought that I would post this here as well:

Ok imma just say this here and now even though I might get hate and mocking replies because some of you just can’t get it. For you, this might not be a show you’re looking forward to or simply may not appeal to your tastes, but comments about “how this show is gonna suck” even though it hasn’t come out yet or that it’s “forced diversification/wokeness” or better yet “no one asked for this/no one looks forward to it or will watch” is just flat out ridiculous and insensitive. Just because YOU don’t look forward to it, doesn’t mean that there aren’t other who do. To you, this may be “just another marvel/Disney show” but for others, this is actually gonna be some real important groundbreaking representation, whether it’s for Muslims, particularly Muslim girls/women, Pakistanis, South Asians, or simply anyone who wants to actually see an underrepresented/misrepresented group of people who’s only portrayal is either “the evil psychotic terrorist” or “weak oppressed women” take center stage for once. And here’s a thought, if you don’t look forward to this show or don’t like the concept of it, just do yourself a favor and just don’t freaking watch. Problem solved! But to make comments like Marvel “should delete this show” or “take it back” is just outright messed up, particularly because there are people who have been demanding this kind of representation for ages and people of this background have actually put in a lot of work and effort to make it happen. Like I said before, you may not look forward to this, but many other people, esp people who have never gotten to see themselves shown in a positive/realistic light, can’t wait. And now does this mean that everyone who is Muslim, Pakistani, South Asian, will love it? Absolutely not! I in fact, might not be 100% satisfied or might even get disappointed in the end result. But since seeing something that I wish existed when I was a little kid and teenager, means a great deal to me that I personally am willing to give it a chance.
