"HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIANA, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!" a loud roar of applause followed suit as everyone around the table clapped it up for the birthday girl turning "dirty 30," as her friends like to put it. Tiana shined as bright as the smile she flashed to her guests, mouthing a thank you and blowing air kisses as they settled down. Every year she aimed to celebrate her birthday like it was the most important day out of 365. But this celebration was one for the books, as she hit another important milestone in her life. And everyone she knew and loved went all out for it with lavish gifts and heartfelt words of adoration, making her feel the utmost important. They even rented out an entire restaurant for her special day.

She appreciated it all as she looked through glossy eyes at the small personalized cake they had made for her, it was heart-shaped and decorated in glittery pink icing with royal embellishments, the words Bad Bitch Szn imprinted in the center. It was topped with a single lit candle, waiting to be blown out. She had many gentle eyes on her as she silently made her wish, to live a long life full of prosperity. She took a deep breath and blew out the candle, opening her own eyes to see warm smiles.

"Thank you guys" she said wholeheartedly, fanning her face as she became teary eyed.

"Wait wait, before you fuck up ya makeup- snap some pics right quick" her bestie said to the photographer who went over to Tiana, snapping a couple shots that were likely being posted to the gram later on.

"Okay nooow cry" her bestie encouraged, making everyone laugh as Tiana used a napkin to lightly dab under her eyes.

The mood was light hearted as the conversation flowed smoothly, along with the food and drinks. Family and friends reminisced back on their favorite moments with Tiana, and vice versa. Soon the topic transitioned to a club they were gonna hit up afterwards to round out the night, or morning.

One of her girls leaned in to whisper, "you got one more gift" making Tiana's brow raise, "oh really? Is it outside?" thinking of a car possibly parked out. "It's comin' in." Now she was confused as what 'it' could be as she looked to the door, to see another girlfriend bringing someone over.

Someone, who made her jaw drop in shock as her hands flew over her mouth at just who was approaching the table. "Sefa??" her muffled voice seemingly confirming that last present.

She let out a squeal as she stood up and rushed over to a childhood friend, hugging him with her arms slinging around his neck, and his around her waist. A slew of giggles escaped her and they rocked back and forth for what felt like forever. His lips were dangerously close to her neck as he chuckled, "whats goin' on birthday girl." It was almost as if they were the only ones in the place at the moment.

She moved her hands down to his broad shoulders, caressing them some through the jacket he wore. "Oh my god look at you" she breathed, still overcome with emotion as she cupped his face, inspecting him real good. Damn, was he FINE fine now, she thought. He was donned in an all black fit with a gold link to accessorize the neck and a beanie. His facial hair was doing something extra for her as she felt a little flushed being this close to a now grown-ass Sefa.

"Damn I'm that ugly?" he joked as they both shared a laugh, he unhooked one of his arms to reveal a bag he was holding that she hadn't even noticed. "Happy Birthday T T," a slight shiver went up her spine at the nickname he used for her rolling off his tongue so sensually. She took the bag, planting a kiss on the corner of his lips as she grabbed his hand "thank you for coming stranger, long time no see. We gotta catch up, you want some cake?" she asked while walking him to the table. His eyes trailed down to her ass in that dress, "hell yeah" he answered huskily.

For the rest of the time spent, it was as if they were in their own world, too consumed in each other to notice anyone else present. They'd gotten right back on track where they left off of several years ago when they graduated from high-school. Updating each other on how their lives have been going, with Tiana being shocked at his profession now. "Oh you wrestle? Ion know anything about that but do your big one!!" he laughed at her compliment. "Appreciate it, and I am. I see you doin' yo big one too" his gaze traveled across her full figure as he bit his lip, making her tense up with a lil throb down there.

Her face flushed with a warmth as she giggled "stooop" she playfully pushed him as he captured her hand in his, making her nerves jolt. He inspected at her fingers curiously, "Ion see no ring, all them times you kept talkin about how you was gon be married when you got older." She sensed the tone in his voice for something deeper as they locked eyes. "I just haven't met the right one." He nodded, placing a kiss on the back of her hand that she then placed on his thigh.

"You comin' out with us? We hittin' up the club after?" she seemed eager for him to join, and he noticed that, agreeing.

The dj was playing all the right songs too, as 'Hellcats srts' by Sexxy Red blasted through the speakers as Tiana drunkenly twerked on an equally drunk Sefa manspread in his seat enjoying the view. Maybe if she wasn't off several liquors she wouldn't have had the courage to twerk on him, but in their shared inhibited state, all that scary shit was out the window.

He tugged her down onto his lap, directly on his growing bulge earning a moan from the both of them. She leaned back into his chest, turning her head towards his with a lackadaisical smile.

"Wha'chu think you doin huh?" he taunted as she rolled her hips against his print, biting her lip at the friction, damn it felt big. "Makin up for lost tiiime," she slurred sexily as he snickered. "You crazy you know that?"

"That's not how you treat a friend" she whined in a pout. "Then how do you treat a friend TT?" the deepening of his voice anchored in her soul making her heat ache between her thighs. Especially from the way his hand kept feeling on her side, and along her curves. The way his fine ass was looking enticed her to bring his lips closer, and closer until they smashed into hers, moving harmoniously, with an intensifying desire.

She moaned as their mouths opened for their tongues to deliciously clash. He broke the kiss to mumble, "that still aint answer my question ma" as they eyed each other in lust.

Later on, that same lust that would emit from their naked bodies as they collided in passion on her king size bed, their clothes scattered around the room she welcomed him in.

Her friend dropped Tiana and Sefa off at her crib, already knowing what time it was when they couldn't keep their hands off each other in the backseat, making out. She smirked seeing them slightly staggering to the front door Tiana struggled to unlock, eventually doing so, and it was on from the moment they stepped foot in the house.

It took no time for him to be digging in her guts with that lengthy girth as she held onto him for dear life. Pounding her so good as her mangled screams bounced off the four walls while her own were being explored. The only sound that was just as loud was their skin clapping at a rhythm due to his fast paced, bottomless thrusts. He would barely even pull out before snapping his hips forward, driving back into her and making his balls slap against her hole.

His head was buried in her neck, whispering sweet nothings that coaxed even more of her nectar to soak his dick. "Shit, you like that? How I beat dat pussy up?" he grunted. nothing is really going on at the moment tbh, cuz they broke up a pretty long while ago, but the issue is the album (if that's what you're referring to) and taylor swift herself.

Context: dating history

Basically she and matty had been friends for a few years (there are rumors of them hooking up ig in 1989 era maybe, but I don't really care enough to believe shit like that). Apparently he had also been pining for her (according to stuff he said in interviews and tweets) for years, but again, you can still chalk it up to rumors if you wanna.

The thing is that post her breakup with joe alwyn, she started dating him (in like april I think) [there had been dating rumors of them since 2014 tho, and again in March 2023] and the fandom kinda got divided.

Context: what matty healy did

Matty healy (you prolly know this) is basically racist, sexist, antisemitic, homophobic and God knows what else I have missed out or not been aware of. He did shit like doing the nazi gesture on stage, mocking asian accents, tastelessly making fun of ice spice on her race and bodyshaming her, laughing and basically confirming that he watches violent rape porn of black women on a site that is known to be highly problematic and force their actors (gender neutral) to do things they dont consent to (there was also an actress who was assaulted or something but im not informed on it). Even when he was called out on stuff like this, he accused people (who were poc, btw) of overreacting.

Context: taylor and activism

Taylor had also, in the past (lover era, and miss Americana the doc) had talked about how she had been too quiet about political issues and politics itself for too long, that she understands her influence and power in society, and that she "needs to be on the right side of history" and even specifics such as that she thinks it's spineless to go on stage and say "happy pride month" and not acknowledge the political oppression that queers in USA were facing (something about a bill or the republican party idk man I'm not american, i dont remember but i did research when i watched the doc tho). She has claimed she was gonna be clear about where she stands (many republicans had considered her to be one, and many thought she's conservative or something, but she was always quiet about it, until the lover era). However, she just stopped that activism after the lover era, and went back to being quiet on where she stands (I've seen many swifties refer to the lover era as the activism era) and hasn't spoken about anything substantial really. She did some things like post a black square with 13 hearts during blm, and stuff that every celeb who wasn't openly a pos did, but that's kinda it. Even as a self proclaimed feminist, she didn't speak up on issues such as roe v wade, or about an issue regarding drag queens despite having them in yntcd, or talking about trans/queer rights until she was in a blue state (im not an American, I just like to keep up a little with stuff in usa cuz it's always up in my face sadly, and thus i cant be specific, but anyways, correct me if I'm wrong, or if I missed something).

So even after saying she'll be vocal, she was just... not. And that's basically her on politics or giving a shit about minority communities.

Context: Fandom's reaction

Swifties were extremely disappointed that taylor CHOSE to associate with a man like this, and there were fans calling her out, and she received backlash, too.

Most of these swifties were poc (myself included) and they felt hurt that an artist that they not just supported and developed such a deep connection with, but also financially supported for years, would have such disregard for them. Not just was she dating him, but she kept saying things such as "I have never been happier in all aspects of my life" or saying "I love you" or "uk who you are" in romantic songs on the tour, which was just adding insult to injury. She also did a collab with ice spice (which was completely out of nowhere, and the collab itself seemed badly made and rushed), which fans and others speculated to be a pr cover up for the fact that matty healy had mocked her (many ppl also believed that it was too quick for it to be a pr cover tho).

Now, in the fandom, when poc swifties were calling her out on dating mh, (mostly) white swifties started harassing poc swifties for doing so, or saying that they are hindering with her happiness or some bs about it being "just a fling" (again, myself included). They said it's the same as seeing a friend get out of a long-term relationship and make bad dating choices, and poc swifties should let it go (as if taylor is our close personal friend). In a mostly white fandom, poc swifties felt alienated and sidelined.

Ofc, taylor never addressed any of this backlash, and after she broke up with him, there were articles saying that sources say (which mostly means her pr team atp) that her breakup had nothing to do with his controversies or behavior.

The album release (lyrics, references and reaction)

Now, with the release of ttpd, contrary to what most of the fandom believed, most of the songs on both the albums are believed to be (and heavily hinted on) about matty healy. These include 4 songs- "ttpd", "but daddy I love him", "I can fix him (no really I can)", and "guilty as sin?"

Ttpd, the title track, talks about mh being "a tattooed golden retriever" (wtf) and about him love-bombing her, and her pining after him, thinking about marriage and shit. But daddy I love him and I can fix him, are basically that no one supported her dating decision and she's claiming that she loves him oh so goddamn much, but more importantly, her talking about her fans' reactions. Specifically, describing her poc fans to be "vipers" and "judgemental creeps" who hate her and them being hurt as "bitching and moaning", and basically took the side of the (white) fans who defended her, indirectly. She described his racist bs as "crazy" and said shit like she could "handle a dangerous man." She also has another song, "Guilty as sin?" and while I genuinely don't give a fuck about what she chooses to do in her private life, unless it is problematic, it is about her fantasizing about being with that racist man while being in a long term relationship with joe alwyn. She sings about how she wants him and wants to be with him... in multiple ways, iykyk. Again, out of context, I love this song so much, but that doesn't erase the context, right?

She also has a song "I hate it here" where she says the following lines:

"My friends used to play a game where

We would pick a decade

We wished we could live in instead of this

I'd say the 1830s but without all the racists and getting married off for the highest bid"

And while there are many reasons why this line by itself is racist (romantisization of a time that was extremely shitty to many communities, most of which she is not a part of, showing herself to be "oh look I'm so woke I still remember the bad things even when I romanticize bad eras in history" which is something you expect from an ignorant white high schooler maybe, not a 34 y/o billionaire who claims to be well-read, etc.) but taylor swift herself saying these is adding insult to injury cuz she has shown time and time again she has no problem with racism (she kept quiet when antonia gentry, a black actress, received hate and racist threats by swifties because of a line BY NETFLIX that taylor didn't like, and she shouldn't ofc, but it wasn't the actress' fault), or associating herself with them (matty healy, for example). It is hypocritical to write something like that after writing an album about pining after a man and his "dangerousness," which is just bigotry. Way to romanticise racism, sexism, and antisemitism, taylor.

Even now, after listening to the album, she clearly doesn't like mh anymore, NOT because of his actions, but because he broke her heart, showing that she still enables and is okay with everything he did.

I think that in an age where people (rightly) don’t trust the information they’re getting to be true, it needs to be as easy as possible to do research. Instead, while we have better technology than ever for sifting through information, it’s still the case that the truth is paywalled and the lies are free. If you want to “do your own research” to check on the veracity of claims, you will run headlong into a maze of broken links, paywalls, and pop-ups. How can anyone hope to find the truth when it’s so elusive, trapped behind so many toll gates?

i won't lie i think it's very funny (in. in a sad way) if most of the chain are having a good time during lu. like, they're hanging out with these other guys who actually GET them in a way almost no one else can, and they don't have to do all the fighting by themselves for once, and they're eating great food all the time and so on. sure, some of them miss their families or homes or whatever, and obviously they sometimes get hurt and have bad experiences, but for the most part they're all chilling.

...and then there's sky. sky, who during the entire thing is absolutely haunted by the fact that all of these people have suffered so much because of him. pretty much all of them began their quests as children, and it was his fault. sky, who doesn't say a word about the curse to anyone, who keeps all his guilt and horror and self-loathing locked up tight inside his chest. every time someone alludes to a traumatic event-even when they're just making a joke-sky has to look away for a moment to compose himself. because that trauma was his fault, too. it only happened because he failed.

he loves the other links just as much as any of them do. he also sees them as his family. but he can only forget himself and actually have a good time briefly, because he'll see time's eye or wild's scars and suddenly remember that he was the one who doomed them all.

(and you would never guess how he's feeling, how he's constantly being crushed under the massive weight of his guilt. he's always sleeping or talking about sun or carving or playing his harp. he seems so peaceful, so happy. he suffers so much, but he suffers in silence. after all, he doesn't deserve to tell anyone how he feels. not when it's all his fault.)

i understand being disappointed that the kurodachi kiss was off-camera because of what it implies about extratextual attitudes towards depicting gay affection. but from a storytelling perspective, for this particular story, i really liked how they shot that scene actually! specifically i liked that the camera focuses in on their hands, because i found their hands more relevant in that moment than whatever was happening with their faces (smooching, presumably).

this scene is happening in the context of the earlier scene on the bridge when adachi was reaching out his hand to touch kurosawa in order to secretly read his thoughts. up to this point adachi's hands have been, or have at least held the latent potential of being, a weapon adachi can wield against people, a way for him to violate their privacy should he choose to do so. in fairness to adachi, usually he hears people's thoughts without actively trying. but the fact remains that he could. and he did try on the bridge, which judging by kurosawa's brokenhearted reaction was a clear violation of kurosawa's trust (as well as an admission that adachi didn't trust kurosawa enough to believe his words).

adachi can hear thoughts through any part of his body, but it's his hands that he can purposefully reach out with. it's his outstretched hand that gives him away when kurosawa turns around and sees him on the bridge. and it's always been (i think) kurosawa in the past who has initiated hand-holding, and often when it happens, the camera cuts away to adachi's face for his reaction and then returns to their hands to show us adachi's fingers curling around kurosawa's in return. lots of things happen to adachi that are out of his control, but he can control his hands. he makes choices with his hands. his hands represent his intentionality.

adachi's power creates an imbalance in their relationship because it only goes in one direction; in the past, their touches have always given adachi some information about what kurosawa feels for him, but not the reverse. the great thing about the kiss scene is that they've just sat down and communicated clearly with each other about both the nagasaki transfer (the thing they were hiding their feelings about during the bridge scene) and adachi's accident. they are being open, consensually and reciprocally. they're on an even footing. adachi thinks "how can i make him feel all the love i have for him?" and that's when he touches him. this touch has nothing to do with adachi reading kurosawa's thoughts - presumably that is happening incidentally (though in a further sign that that is not the point of this touch, we the audience do not hear kurosawa's inner voice here), but this touch is adachi's way of communicating to kurosawa the way that adachi feels. it's an inversion of their usual dynamic. it's touch as true, two-way intimacy.

one more thing and then i promise to shut up about this. adachi reaches out after seeing the way kurosawa, who has just apologized for being a mess (aka having emotions), is compulsively squeezing his own hands together in a crushing anxiety grip in his lap. adachi can by now i think recognize these as symptoms of the classic kurosawa self-blame spiral. he touches kurosawa's head with one hand and with the other takes one of kurosawa's hands and replaces kurosawa's fingers with his own. and it's their two hands, not their faces, that the camera focuses on while they're (presumably) kissing. this means that the story's answer to "how can i make him feel all the love i have for him?" is not "kiss him" or "sleep with him" but rather "hold his hand" - something that they've done before but that is being given new meaning in the context of their conversation (see above) and that is being initiated by adachi for the first time. we know that adachi has lost the magic by the next scene, which presumably means they had sex after this, but the story completely downplays the loss of adachi's virginity (which i appreciate, because i'm always looking for interpretations of this show that fit my The Concept of Virginity Is Stupid and Reductive agenda, especially when "the magic is about insecurity" is right there). the cherry-popping (barf) is not as important to adachi's arc as the fact that he proved in this scene that he has grown past the need for the magic and that he's ready to explore emotional and physical intimacy without it.

okay i lied, last thing. i mean it this time though. not only does adachi initiate, he also interlaces their fingers, which i think might be another first (usually they just clasp hands or kurosawa curls his hand around adachi's). which is like! a visual representation of the stuff adachi keeps trying to communicate to kurosawa throughout the rest of the movie!! interlocking their fingers is saying: when you're weak, i'll be strong. it's saying: we'll go together. it's saying: i know you're beating yourself up over this, and you don't need to. i don't want you to. you're enough. we're enough. we're together. we're a team!!!

I will say, though, people used to be way meaner about fic online when I was a kid. Readers can still be shitty, don't get me wrong, but it was the wild fucking west when I was young and new to fandom.

Sporking communities (communities dedicated to going through fic line-by-line to make fun of it to an audience), homophobic death threats, "constructive criticism" that was really just designed to hurt young writers' feelings... Like this was all considered not just acceptable but fun and fairly normalized. You were considered "butthurt" if this stuff really affected you.

But damn, it was so mean. Like so unnecessarily mean. People were practically hunting fan writers for sport just because they wrote fic/meta/roleplays/etc. that they didn't enjoy. I cannot overemphasize that making fun of writers was considered a viable fandom path at a certain point. Some people got very big followings for sporkings, takedowns, particularly creative flames, etc.

What I'm telling you is that making fun of others' writing was considered a kind of fanwork in and of itself.

Like... I remember writing something online when I was about fourteen and -- I don't even remember what it was, being honest with you. It probably wasn't very good, given my age. But I do remember that someone just replied to it with a link for a website "how to write" and nothing else, and it hurt my feelings so badly that I didn't even want to keep going. That was considered concrit back then, even though it was really just a thinly veiled insult. Pretty sure whoever wrote that comment thought it was hilarious, and others would have agreed with them. I definitely would've been mocked if I'd complained.

And... that was just what you had to put up with if you posted your writing publicly. Some of those old warnings like "flames will be used to make s'mores!" come off as kind of cringe these days, but it really was a coping mechanism that you had to develop if you wanted to get through it at all. It was saying "your words won't hurt me, so don't bother."

Like... I like to believe that I'm a pretty good writer these days, and I can guarantee that not one of those assholes who made fun of me or mocked my work or talked shit about my ideas actually helped to make me what I am today. It was the people who encouraged me to play with a lot of different ideas and forms of writing who really helped me grow. Nothing worked better than just writing and writing and writing without fear that I would be punished for doing so.

So even if you're a garbage person who likes to hurt people because it makes you feel big and strong and important, think about all this pragmatically. Be totally fucking selfish for a minute. Think about all of the good writing you will never, ever get to read if you destroy the writer's self-esteem when they're still learning. Think about all the people who will never grow. All the beautiful flowers that are being nipped in the bud every day by assholes like you.

And even if someone never gets good, even if they just splash around in stupid ideas and awful prose and incoherent characterization... so fucking what? No one owes you beauty. Sometimes the beauty is just in having fun with what you're doing, and sometimes that's enough.

I am actually extremely relieved that fandom isn't quite as cruel as it was when I was a kid, but I won't pretend that things are perfect now. People still have this weird entitlement to them, like other people in fandom only exist to create things that they enjoy. Like other people only have worth, only matter, if their presence gives you exactly what you want when you want it.

You don't have to like everything that other people make! You don't even have to like them. But come on, now. Let people have fun. And don't act like other people's fun is only valid if it's of use to you.
