THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE ASK!!! i am SO glad that i could get this au to live in someone else's brain rent free too. all i could ever ask for in life tbh i guess i'll infodump about character backstories, dynamics, character arcs, all that juicy stuff putting it under cut because HO BOY THIS IS GONNA GET LONG

as a heads up, take the timeframes i give you with a grain of salt, because i still havent completely figured out the timeline so first of all, vox!! he's a sinner, died in the 1950s, as per canon. he's a businessman, but less stable than in canon. he's always jumping from job to job, business to business, which results in him having a lot of connections with various people around hell. soon after arriving in hell, he met and became friends with alastor. cut to, i'd say around 7-10 years before the events of the story? alastor disappears without a trace during an extermination and vox assumes him dead. having now been personally touched by the effects of the extermination, the idea to try and solve overpopulation another way is planted in his head, but wont come to fruition until much later. in the meantime he meets velvette - finds her bleeding out in an alleyway after getting too cocky and trying to fight back to an exorcist (bad idea). he nurses her back to health, they become friends and eventually start dating, yada yada yada. one day vox and velvette find a funky little cat (keekee). keekee takes a liking to them and leads them to the old ruins of a building up on the hill on the edge of pentagram city. they figure out that the cat turns into a keyblade that can be used to magically build shit (only the hotel though, as keekee is the spirit of the hotel or??? whatever the hell the canon lore is idk???) vox finally decides to realize his idea to try and solve overpopulation more humanely - through redeeming sinners! his reasoning is, if angels can fall (as proven by lute and charlie), then demons can surely ascend, right? though he's not as sure or idealistic about it as charlie is in canon. he simply thinks it has a chance of working, and opening up a hotel means a bigger sample size than if he were to just try and get into heaven himself or something like that. besides, he wouldnt wanna go to heaven, he likes it here. also, im not sure where this is situated in the timeline yet, but he was in a band with adam, lute and possibly eve at some point? the band is called brimstone eden, as mentioned in the comic i posted. im not sure yet whether he was in the band prior to eve's disappearance or after it (eve disappears 7 years before the story starts to mirror canon lilith). swap!vox, like his canon counterpart, is a very reactive person. he follows trends, he's extremely go-with-the-flow to a fault. he never really had any strong beliefs until the hotel - his character arc mainly involves him gaining something to believe in and learning to fight for that belief, 'ready for this' being more or less the culmination of his arc. jesus christ i cant believe i wrote that much JUST on vox. *slaps the top of his head* this boy can fit so much lore in him

now, velvette... she's how you'd expect her to be. same old brave, arrogant velvette. she's a fashion designer and seamstress and runs a moderately sized business which she promotes on sinstagram. she's mutuals with val there, which is how he finds out about the hotel. there's not much to write home about when it comes to val - it's insane how similar angel and him are. like literally barely anything changes when you swap them, it's very clean. he's a prn star, sold his soul to angel dust, yada yada. though a bit on his dynamic with vox - vox is very good at reading people, and doesn't like being lied to (he's a bit of a hypocrite in that regard - he puts on a facade all the time when in professional settings). he can clearly tell val isnt doing as good as he pretends he is, and wants to help him really badly, but val just sees it as vox pitying him and rejects his help (its what they fight about in ep 4, as a counterpart to the whole "charlie going to the studio" thing bc vox wouldnt do that) and now here's the fun part - ALASTOR! oh, alastor, you beautiful stuck up bitch! so turns out, he's not so dead after all! he ALMOST died in that fateful extermination, but husk found him and offered him a "give me your soul right now or bleed out in this alleyway" type deal. of course alastor chose the former, but boy he's not happy about it. he's extremely ashamed of how far he's fallen. so ashamed, in fact, that he hid from the world for those 7-10 years! yeah! he's only pulled out of hiding when husk summons him to be the bartender for the hotel. vox is of course, extremely bewildered and demands answers. alastor doesnt give them and avoids him instead. it takes a sincere conversation with valentino in ep 4 for alastor to finally talk to vox again and explain himself. alastor is basically in extremely deep denial of just how fucked his life is. he clings onto his radio demon persona like a lifeline bc its the last thing that can help him feel some semblance of control over his situation. his tension with valentino is twofold - first they butt heads because of opposing personalities, and second because they both see the other's bullshittery. it's a clusterfuck it eventually bubbles over in ep 4, they both admit how absolutely fucked they are and are friends now. wish i could say more on al & val bc i love them very much but it seems ive run out of eloquency for now. though i know i'll draw some comics of them eventually so maybe it'll come across better in comic form. anyway as mentioned above ive run out of eloquency and im honestly not sure how coherent this whole thing is so you'll have to come back for the other characters some other time, dear anon! until then, thank you so much for the ask once again, and have a nice day/night :)

AHHHH I LOVE ZOMBIE AU OMFGG zombies r my faveeeee the potential is ENDLESS. THEM RUNNING INTO EACHOTHER SO MUCH THEY DECIDE TO TEAM IS SO FUNNY AND CUTE I LOVE THAT SM AHDJDHFJ .i have so many ideas for zombie au art but i just havent gotten round to it yet. I love the angst of it all LOL. i like it when its rly gritty like kind of TWD energy. i want people to get bit, i want CASUALTIES! my favourite zombie cliche is someone getting bit and their loved one having to put them down before they turn... my personal au for kmhnmi zombie au is that hajime would be immune (but he doesnt know that until he gets bit real bad) and a great fighter. hed be the tank. the main slayer if you will. hed be the hero too. like theres always a second of deliberation when he sees or hears someone in trouble but he just cant ignore it and he will always help even if it puts him in danger, and when he doesnt make it in time to save them or theres nothing he can do.....man....

chiaki has a lot of useful knowledge from playing a lot of zombie games so shes good at coming up with plans including safe places to stay/what to prioritise for survival/scavenging and crafting (she sooo read zombie survival guide and world war z by max brooks and took it seriously no i am not projecting). she can FIGHT too do NOT be fooled by her short ass, but i dont think shed be super inclined to fight. i feel like shes more a tactical escape person and shes very good at stealthing it

nagito i think would be super out of his depth bc hes not very strong and while being smart is super helpful in a zombie apocalypse - u cant run forever and if u cant fight ur dead. his luck could only carry him so far in that scenario. hed be great to have around tho because hed come up on amazing shit like a delivery van full of canned food, a truck with the keys still in the ignition, an abandoned house that still has running water and mains electricity, like oh my god. i also think hed be quiet and sneaky like chiaki is but i think hes a little more clumsy and a bit less careful than her so he doesnt always get away w it, esp w his luck. i think hed have to rely on hajime and chiaki a lot to protect him and i think thatd fuck with him a lot just bc of his nature and i also think it would be really cool if he snapped one time to save chiaki and bashes a zombies head in with a porcelain toilet tank lid until it was just unrecognisable brain mush and then never does it or mentions it again

sksjsjsjjdnks ok so this was an au based solely on the idea of macaque and swk trying desperately to teach two super powered toddlers to control their powers

basically the premise of this was what i already mentioned,

• maq has too much left over power from stealing swks and then a boost from lbd, and his body gets rid of it by pouring it into the next two clones he makes which turn out as rumble and savage

• im still calling them these names because 1. i dont want them to be confused with other peoples versions of these characters and 2. im desensitised to weird names from the tf fandom)

• rumble and savage are sisters in this au- because they were created to get rid of excess power, theyre kind of op and havent learnt to control it like swk did.

• savage has gold eyes and powers, she can mimic a lot of the powers of swk and macaque, but when she uses shadows they are shimmery gold instead of purple like macaques are. she also has sun wukongs lazer eyes and can summon a cloud but cant use it.

• rumble has blue eyes cause she has lbds powers mixed with macaques which you can imagine gives her a bit of a complex. she has ice manipulation and the ability to look through anothers eyes instead of fully possessing them, but she can speak directly into peoples minds as well as a bunch of macaques powers, the same as her sister. she doesnt fully understand why they came to see sun wukong, who can help with her sisters powers, but arent going to see someone to help her control her own powers.

• the actual story to this was that while macaque was working under lbd, he had the twins and lbd was going to kill them outright because she has a plan damnit and this was not part of it so macaque took the opportunity to blow up part of her mech and RUN with them.

• he was pretty badly hurt during the fight before they escaped though, and by the time theyd got far enough to slow down, he was a little delirious with fever. he didn't know where to go but his brain was going 'these are baby monkeys. baby monkeys go to the nurseries on flower fruit so theyre safe' because when he used to live on flower fruit, baby monkeys were all over the place but if there was danger, there were certain places on the island specifically so they could hide.

• theyre out on their own for a couple of weeks and, semi lucid, macaque leads them to flower fruit and basically passes out on the way up to swks house.

• fun thing about this tho is swks not home! hes been out for months with the crew doing i didnt know what (s3 hadnt dropped) so its not until like a day of them being there that swk comes back, bc he felt like something was wrong.

• havent nailed down exactly what happens when swk gets back but after a confrontaion, it becomes clear that macaque definatly needs help because hes still pretty injured despite rumble and savage doing their best to patch him up

• and also because rumble already iced him once while they were on the run and it freaked him out pretty bad because he thought lbd had found them, and savage destroyed one of their hiding spots by accident

thats all ive got for now and i dont have a name for it yet but sjhdsfdffsh i really like this concept it kind of reminds me of like xmen or something and comedy potential is a lot of fun

IM SORRY AA im not really sure how to integrate duke yet into the family (like he’s here and Adopted and hs parents are alive and Not Ok i think but idk HOW yk ????) and cass’s backstory doesnt change much, she just doesnt keep on Fighting,,, steph is a bit more complicated i think ? ill get into it at some point i swear ;_; !!!!!! but here are a few shifter au hc on duke, steph and cass !!!!

also steph : bruce maybe ur not my dad but ur also kind of the only father figure i have rn and i rly need to be told im doing good and to get a hug but ur annoying and i dont like u but ur also kind of my dad anyway give me a fucking hug or ill bite u • cass sometimes goes out shifted into a bat to follow bruce bc a) she wants to make sure her dad is fine b) its fucking funny that the batman is followed by a bat dont u think • duke has his light powers and they’re slowly developping and he’s getting help from the league and sometimes everything is too much and he gets big headaches,,,, there is always a sibling to cuddle with to make the pain Go tho

• STEPH BECOMES A VETERINARIAN which also takes care of shifters when shifted btw

• duke gets his shifting from his dad who was also a komodo dragon

• duke is pretty close to jason they are book nerds together, but they also have widely different opinions on books which ends up with loud book debates at 2 in the morning (dont ask me about those specific opinions i havent read a book in my life thanks)

• cass is mostly verbal after two to three years after being adopted, but they all learned sign language for her. she uses it with tim and jason the most bc the three of them have non verbal days.

• steph’s favorite cuddle buddy is dick (as coyote steph and panther dick)

• cass isn’t sure what she wants to do yet but she got into a lot of different activities. one of her favorite is scuba diving.

• im still not sure what duke will do in the future sobs he’s still confused bc he got a Lot on his mind between his parents and his meta abilities and his shifting that gets to be a bit of a pain in the winter bc winter takes up a lot of energy for him

• cass is the second best at finding tim when he’s hiding (second only to selina who is also Cat and she may or may have not mom instinct when it comes to tim)

• one of cass’s favorite place to doze off is shifted, into an apron’s pocket, while jay or alfred cook. it smell nice and they both either sing or talk to her or hum,, its nice

• steph’s mom isnt a shifter ! it comes from arthur brown sadly >:( sometimes it makes steph upset 

• steph’s mom loves when steph is shifted and worked out muscles to be able to carry her coyote daughter and thats so very nice

The Hargreeves siblings are dead.

Ben isn’t very aware of this at first. He’s been dead since 2006 -- he’s quite used to it, by now. What he is aware of, first, is light. Blinding white light. And Vanya, in the middle of it. He doesn’t close his eyes because he can’t feel pain, but if he could he thinks she would have made him blind. There’s light, and heat, and power, and then he closes his eyes anyway because the ceiling is collapsing around him and it’s instinctual.

When he opens them again he sees ash. Ash -- and Klaus.

He’s gotten used to Klaus, too. Klaus has a memorable sort of face; even if he didn’t, Ben has seen it every single day for almost twenty years. He doesn’t know if it’s actually been twenty years, for him. He doesn’t know how time moves for ghosts. Klaus has assured him it moves the same as it does for the living. Ben isn’t sure Klaus, stoned out of his mind, bleeding sluggishly from his arm, knew what he was talking about.

Anyway.

Klaus.

He’s wearing the coat he’s been flaunting around for the past week. His shirt is see-through, with little stars on it, like a pale imitation of the sky. Ben remembers his pants had laces on them, he’s sure they did not a minute ago, before the brightness that threatened to wipe out his very soul -- his soul is all he has left, really. His gaze drifts down anyway, to check.

Yes. Klaus’ pants have laces up the sides.

“No,” Ben says. Klaus is laying in a heap on the ground, his fingers curled like his tendons have been cut.

His lips feel numb because they always feel numb. Because Ben can’t feel at all. He takes a step. “No,” he says again, louder, surer. “No!”

Klaus looks up at him. His makeup is smudged, like it tends to be. His lips are bitten raw, like they tend to be. His hair is a mess, like it tends to be, and like it will be, always, because Klaus isn’t breathing.

Klaus is lying in a heap on the ground. Klaus is standing above his own body. Klaus is reaching for Ben like he’s hoping to touch him for the first time in years. Just when Klaus’ cold, dead, fingers brush his face, a voice from behind says, so quietly, dripping with disbelief: “Ben?”

Ben shuts his eyes and wishes desperately he could cry.

He feels a hand on his shoulder, for the first time in so, so long, but he also doesn’t feel it at all. He feels-but-doesn’t-feel someone turn him around, until they are saying, “Ben? Ben!” and he has no choice but to open his eyes and face the music.

Diego is gripping his shoulders like he is a dying man and Ben is the answer. Behind him, Luther and Allison watch them, stunned silent. Allison’s hands are pressed to her mouth. She looks like she wants to cry. 

And Vanya. Little Vanya, painted white. Her head is hung as her shoulders shake with the weight of the destruction she has so inevitably caused. (Ben would say he always knew she was destined for great things -- but he can’t, because he didn’t.) (Nobody ever said great things had to be good.)

The Hargreeves siblings are dead. Their bodies are strewn across what is left of their childhood home, smouldering and burning, and Ben is very aware of that fact.

righto anyway. so they have an emotional reunion but its also kind of bitter? id have to actually write this for it to make sense so lets skip it for now lol

he cannot see them obviously bc theyre all ghosts

god if i did write this it would be such a monster of a fic and would take me like 2 years to finish i already know fhkjdsk

somehow ?? they manage to influence the world around them maybe? idk maybe now that klaus is dead hes sober

or maybe hes high for all eternity?

for the purposes of this au lets say he died sober or in the late stages of withdrawal, and bc ghosts cant feel pain in action hes sober

so EVENTUALLY they figure out how to corporealize bc klaus is like blam wham ghost powers

asdlfk that sounds so stupid im sorry

he would say that tho imho,,, it sounds like something hed say,,,

ok so out of all of them klaus and ben have the most experience homeless

and while being stuck in an apocalypse is not at all the same thing as being homeless it does help to have some knowledge

dammit okay. theres 2 options we can take here. in the comics five couldnt get back bc he fucked up his math and spent 15 years doing the wrong thing, but if u apply that here, with 6 other ppl checking his work this could be avoided and they end up skipping the whole assassin shtick and just hopping straight back to 2019, ready to prevent the apocalypse

OR five still gets hired for the commission but the sibs are tagging along

1) they go back in time because math checking and the ghosts swap out for their past selves

after multiple years of being stuck in an apocalypse together i think they would learn to get along with each other. like at least a little bit

which would make it easier for them to prevent the apocalypse

bc theyd:

trust each other more

already know abt the apocalypse and not have to wait for five to grace them all with his knowledge

are working as a team from the very beginning

have open lines of communication

vanya is also already aware of her powers so the whole harold goading her into turning against her family and snapping to wipe out all life on earth thing? yeah that doesnt happen

oh and harold wouldn’t know how to do that in the first place because klaus wouldn’t throw out reggie’s journal! this solves so many problems wtf

there’s still commission issues bc they (and by they i mean five) are on the commission’s radar

so there’s still dope fight scenes sdlkfd pinky promise

okay idk. they stop the apocalypse and everything is okay the end hfkjd

2) they fix the math but only five can go back and the ghosts cease to exist

this is fun because now five is a highly trained assassin who is also lowkey a complete marshmallow for his siblings and once again TEAMWORK WOO

basically the first path but now five has a gun fhsdjk

4) they join the commission but five has to leave them behind and they cease to exist

five with a gun but hes sad now

i didnt go into how much losing his siblings would suck in the prev path but like. it would suck so much. he’s already lost them once if you think about it when he time traveled the first time and yeah he found the adult ghost versions but,, its different

and now suddenly hes stuck with these strange adult versions of the people he knows and he KNOWS them but also he doesnt? at all? they dont have all the years of shared experiences together? and theyre all grown up from the first ‘set’ of siblings he had which for five was like 40+ years ago??
