Hal: listen, my beautiful blonde speedster, what if we kidnapped the kids and take them to Disneyland. How long you think Bruce and Ollie noticed.
Barry: enough time to get through space mountain.
Hal: put 60$ and a dinner if we can go on the teacup ride before they noticed.
Barry: 70$ if I win and you got a deal.
Hal: deal!

So actual question, I don’t know if a lot of weddings still do father/daughter mother/son dances anymore since I (THANK GOD) haven’t been to a wedding in years, but if they still happen, would Koriand’r, if she got married on Earth, dance with Victor for it?

is the dickbabs romantic relationship always as bad as in Tom Taylor’s run or is it actually enjoyable in other runs? i want to read more of dick’s og nightwing run but ik dickbabs is a recurring thing and i strongly dislike what i’ve seen of it in modern comics (absolutely no offense to anyone who ships it!!)
also sort of related, but have dick and babs really been BFFs since grade school or is that new canon? i remember the initial new 52 run referencing him and babs as on and off but nothing about being childhood besties.
finally- what would you consider to be key dick grayson runs?
Surprisingly Dickbabs is pretty nice to read in other runs. I know this sounds weird coming from someone who hates Dickbabs as a ship but really it's only bad like 85% of the time and the majority of that is because of the Batgirl comics. Batgirl comics treat Dick like shit and it's a losing tossup whether he's treated well in Oracle related comics.
But to get to your point, Dickbabs in Nightwing (1996) was originally pretty good. Tom Taylor's run of Nightwing is the weird one because in every other run you have Dick + relationships whereas in Taylor's you have relationships + Dick. That being said, I highly, highly recommend reading the og one. At one point it does get toxic but Barbara leaves almost immediately after that and aside from that the ship was pretty nice for the most part.
Dick and Barbara have NOT been BFFS since childhood or whatever and this gets on my nerves that Tom Taylor and Hope Larson did that. This is one of the problems I have with the Dickbabs ship. Writers who write them love changing the story to erase Dick's friendships with the Titans. They literally love to pretend Wally, Donna, Roy, and Garth don't exist. BARBARA IS NOT HIS CHILDHOOD BEST FRIEND!! They literally keep deaging her and for what?? First she was like two decades older than him, then she's five years older than him, and now she's the same age?? Just let her be older! Barbara being the same age as Dick makes no sense because it takes away her maturity to turn her into this childish, selfish character she has no business being. She's not even enjoyable when she's deaged this far. I'm still on the she's 5 to 6 years older than Dick canon timeline and there is no way she was childhood besties with him.
The way I picture Dick and Barbara's relationship is this:
youtube
DC should've just let it at this, this was peak Dick and Barbara relationship.
Very narrow starting out list but some must read Dick Grayson runs are:
Nightwing (1996) - If you don't feel like reading anything else just read this
Nightwing (2016) - Really good up until Tom Taylor's run
Batman: Gotham Knights - pretty good and lots of cute Tim and Dick!
Titans (1999) - This is a must read if you're not interested in the original Teen Titans comics
Outsiders (2003) - Love him so much in this
JLA/Titans - Important for understanding his relationships with Titans and Batman
Nightwing (2011)
Justice League (2011) Issue #25 and Forever Evil - Same arc
Batman: Prelude to the Wedding: Nightwing vs. Hush
Robin era
Batman - One Bad Day: Mr. Freeze - If you want to skip the medal ages but still want to know what Dick was like as Robin, this comic is all you need to understand his character and personality and beliefs.
Batman Chronicles: The Gauntlet - Dick's gauntlet test!
Robin: Year One - For fun :)
Dick!Bats era
Batman: Battle for the Cowl - To get into Dick's batman
Batman (1940) Issues #682 to #713 - Batman Dick. Incredible. Dick was such a good batman and so fun to read.
Batman and Robin (2009) - Dick and Dami!
Batman: Streets of Gotham - Also Dick and Dami <3
Justice League of America (2006) Issues #41 to #60- Dick leading his own JLA team as Batman! SO FUN!!
Detective Comics (1937) Issue #864 to #881 - Honestly Batman Dick was so good I can't tell if I like Dick more as Nightwing or Batman. Obviously it's better for his mental health if he's nightwing but he just did such a great job as Batman.
Spy era
Grayson - YESSSS. Just everything about this.
Batman and Robin Eternal - It was really good up until near the end but then it got better again
Dark Crisis - Definitely, without a doubt, no question
Additional: The ones above are focused on him but if you finish reading this then Tim's Robin (1993) Comic is a fantastic one. He doesn't appear in every single issue but he appears a lot and it's a lot of Dick and Tim characterization. Also Teen Titans (2003) for more Dick and Titans relationships.

hypothetically, if you could give jason a titans team (like maybe in an au where he doesn’t die?), who would you put in the lineup?
Friend, you are in luck, because I have thought about this EXTENSIVELY. (I may or may not be trying to figure out how to write an extremely long fic about this team. I am invested. Let Jason have friends!!!)
Tumblr media
Kid/Red Devil (Eddie Bloomberg): Eddie was canonically Jason's only superhero friend during his Robin days and had almost as terrible an adolescence as Jason did and I just want them to be besties so bad. They deserve to be happy! Also they are both nerds!!! I love.
Tumblr media
Ravager (Rose Wilson): Rose has been frequently linked to Jason in multiple universes, often romantically and often in a way that implies that they are peers. (She's also been on books with Dick, Tim, and Damian, but this is my team and I do what I want.) She also has a long history with Eddie, who is canonically smitten with her. Do the three of them have a messy triangle going on for much of their adolescence in my universe? Oh boy do they. 😈
Tumblr media
Green Arrow (Connor Hawke): God only knows how old Connor is supposed to be right now, but pre-Flashpoint, he fits right into Jason's mini-generation, being younger than Roy (Dick's generation) but older than Mia and Cissie (Tim's generation). I know he wasn't a superhero yet when Jason was Robin but this is an AU and Connor needs friends his own age almost as badly as Jason does. Also, Jason, Connor, and Rose sparring together on the regular? I would like to see it dot gif.
Tumblr media
Koryak: My terrible boy! Kory also fits into Jason's mini-generation (younger than Garth, older than Lorena) and needs friends even more desperately than everyone else on this roster, which is saying something.
Tumblr media
Damage (Grant Emerson): Yes, Grant was on a team with Bart, but he always came off a bit older than Bart, and clearly reached adulthood before Tim did (although who hasn't?). He's also been on two separate teams with Rose (sort of). Most importantly, I love him. Also, this team needs some muscle. I mean, Koryak and Eddie are pretty strong, but still.
Tumblr media
Argent (Toni Monetti): Toni is the same age as Grant and a former teammate of his (and Rose's, sort of) and they are best friends in my heart. She's also the closest the team has to a flyer. She despairs of how much orange the others are wearing and also Eddie's everything.
ANYWAY I LOVE THEM AND SOMEDAY I WILL WRITE THE FIC. (Or...the comic???)

TARGETS #6 SPOILERS…
BREAKING DOWN THE FUNERAL SHOT…
Tumblr media
In case you can’t read my horrible writing…
We may have been denied seeing everyone in wedding attire but we did get to see everyone in their funeral attire which is pretty cool - there’s always something fun about seeing everyone in different clothes from usual... Even if it is for the unfortunate event of a funeral.
THE RUNAWAYS ARE HERE! You know the first thing I noticed about this shot was that Ed was in it… who scrubs up very nicely I might add… though he and Asami clearly had their growth spurts between the end of s2 and Wallys funeral because they were the smallies of the group and are now towering over previous tallie Tye! It genuinely makes me so happy that they’re all here - they really didn’t need to be given they hadn’t been associated with the heroes very long or know Wally beyond being kid flash, but the fact that they did go to the funeral is so compassionate and respectful - I love it!
Are Dinah's eyes on Bart? If they are, that's a really cool detail that I am obsessed with... Though, I don't know if they actually are, both her and Ollie seem to be looking more in the direction of Red tornado or something off panel... Which is more of an odd choice that I can't quite interpret... That being said, Dinah looking at Bart shows a need to check on him and acknowledge he may not be alright, out of everyone who she knows will definitely be struggling - Artemis, Dick, the other OGs, the rest of wally's family - and yet her focus is on the new kid from the future who would probably down play how affected he is by wally's loss... She's clearly tuned in on more than he'd want anyone to see... There's no hiding from Black Canary!
My boy Bart needs a hug right now! He looks so sad and isolated from everyone despite being surrounded by so many people - his chair is pulled away from iris's, disconnecting him from the other flashfam, there's probably guilt/imposter syndrome at being included with all wally's close family when he's only been around for a few months - obviously he does deserve to be there but I feel like he’d much prefer to be at the back and out of the way that front row. He’s looking at nothing/the ground - lost in his own thoughts/memories of past losses, his posture is hunched as he tries to make himself as small as possible - probably not wanting to be noticed or acknowledged in any way… basically he needs a hug! Also it is always wrong seeing Bart separated from Ed and Jaime - boy needs his besties!
Like when Artemis was “killed”, Conner’s natural response is to be angry before tearful, which I actually quite like - grief shows itself in different ways and it’s just as valid a response… it’s also interesting to see how M’gann is focusing on Conner, aware of how hurt he will be but not trying to physically connect/comfort him as they are still broken up at this point and maybe doesn’t want to overstep.
Perdita can’t even look at the tomb stone, possibly trying to hold back her tears.
Artemis, Dick and Kaldur’s reactions are all heartbreaking - Artemis is clearly trying to hold it together but is on the brink of completely breaking down while her mum, Barbara and Brucely crowd around her. Dick is full on sobbing - which is something we’ve never seen him do and shows just how affected he was by Wallys loss - his closest friend and confidant was gone. Then there’s Kaldur, who isn’t actually showing much visible reaction - which is very Kaldur - holding in whatever emotions he may definitely be feeling because he doesn’t want to access that side of himself… it’s interesting that dick and Kaldur seem to have opposite overall grief responses - dick broke down immediately then proceeded to disconnect from dealing with his feelings over s3, while Kaldur avoided dealing with his built up negative feelings from the beginning and has only just put his effort into working through his grief.
I like the idea that Garth is looking at Kaldur (though it may actually be that he’s looking at Artemis or Dick - a lot of the eye lines are difficult to properly pinpoint) If it is Kaldur he’s looking at, then that shows hes thinking about him and checking in on him - they were good friends once - and while they may not be as close anymore, Garth’s focus on him illustrates that he still cares and understands that Kaldur probably isn’t okay.
There is so much emotion coming from Dick/Artemis/Mrs. West that it’s attracting the attentions of Denny, Karen and Roy… maybe even Red Tornado and Jaime as well. I love seeing who people are looking at!
ORIN ISN’T WEARING SHOES!!
It genuinely threw me for at least 10 seconds as to which batkid was between Bruce and Cassie… and then I remembered when this was set and that it’s obviously Tim (🤦‍♀️)… though he does look remarkably similar to s1 Dick Grayson.
La’gaan is looking very suave in that outfit… though also very upset which is really heartbreaking!
Poor uncle Dudley - could everyone not just shuffle over a little bit so he could be fully in the shot?
It’s cool to finally see Freddy for the first time, who, as pointed out by someone on Twitter, is actually sat on plastic man as a chair - which is ridiculously brilliant - I did think it was an odd colour scheme for the chair to have compared to everyone else’s!
Love Alfred keeping a watchful eye on everyone at the back.
I did not expect this to be what Hawkman looks like under the mask!
Let’s talk Dr. Fate… Mr. ‘Doesn’t-Care-About-Anyone-Else’ being at Wally’s funeral is so powerful and one of my favourite things about this shot - this is a choice Nabu is making which shows respect for someone he had a brief connection with previously… also, he’s not fully visible so it could be no one else actually knows he’s there which plays into their assumption that he doesn’t care about anyone - but him being there shows there is some level of care/compassion. I really do find Nabu to be such a fascinating character in this show!
And those are my current thoughts on this shot - I think it’s absolutely brilliant and I’m so glad we go to see it! RIP Wally.

MY OFFICIAL THOUGHTS AND OPINIONS ON AQUAMAN AND THE LOST KINGDOM. Spoilers ahead.
OKAY. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. It was very fun and it did not have the problem of too many villains that I was expecting based on everything I read. If that was the result of the rewrites and reshoots, I am happy for them.
A lot of the visuals and smaller adventures felt very Silver Age! There were certain creatures that were directly from the 60s, which I appreciated. Topo was lovely. If you know me, you know one of my major gripes with some of the recent Aquaman comics is that they do not lean into the animal sidekick thing anymore. And the group of whales straight up killing all those people? THAT is the Aquaman content I like to see.
The horror elements were just enough to balance out the sillier parts. Although I knew Arthur Jr was never in any actual danger, this is the closest DC has come since the 70s to making it even somewhat realistic that they would kill a baby. Like, I knew they wouldn't. But for once I said to myself, "they've established this enough that I believe this threat." You know my stance on DC trying to bait another Death of a Prince...
The cursed Trident possessing Manta was giving such Preboot Orm vibes. I liked it, I appreciate a slow possession arc. Manta was scary and felt like a real threat, which is difficult to achieve when he's a human and he's fighting people so much stronger than him. Shin was also SO good, you knew he was going to redeem himself but it still felt very natural for him to do so. Idk why Manta trusted him with the baby duffel bag tho, after all the times Shin clearly was snooping and giving Manta disapproving looks. Also why did they put that baby in a duffel bag lmao
Overall, it was a pretty straightforward story that felt easy to follow. This isn't always the case for superhero films, so it was refreshing. And a good end to the franchise. This actually felt like it would have been a great end to a TRILOGY, and that we were missing a middle story...
HOWEVER.
Not to make this about me and my blorbo but.......this would have made a lot more sense as a story about Arthur and Garth. I'm sorry, but it's true. Every time I saw a Silver Age reference, I just said to myself "oh yeah, that's a story with Aqualad in it, but now it's Orm." I KNOW that Orm needed his lil redemption arc, but if Patrick Wilson was not besties with James Wan, I don't think he would have gotten one.
Because Kordax was Slizzath. He just was. They took Slizzath's story and renamed him Kordax. So many parts of the movie I was like "this is adapted from Tempest (1996)" BUT IF THEY HAD USED SLIZZATH WITHOUT GARTH I WOULD HAVE BEEN PISSED so I get it but I don't get it, you know? But Kordax was just Slizzath.
I posted a few years ago about my ideal Aquaman trilogy, and tbh this felt like my ideal third movie, plot-wise and tone-wise......except my vision was about Garth, not Orm. Orm could be there, I guess, but imo he should have had a sequel redemption and then the third movie should have introduced the evil sorcerer thing. It would have made perfect sense to need Atlan's blood, thinking they're fine because they saved the baby but then Garth accidentally bleeds on the altar and unlocking his powers, and releasing Slizzath. PLUS then he could freeze the ice caps again with his new found powers lmao I'm worried about the implications.........nobody in this universe has ice powers.....
I get that it would have been hard to introduce a new character for a sequel with absolutely no chance at a third movie, so I do understand that Garth was never an option....but holy shit, Garth would have been a perfect fit for this movie.
AGAIN, not to make it about my blorbo .......
also I cannot believe they killed Vulko via plague?? I almost laughed out loud. It's absolutely because they could not reconcile that if Vulko was alive, Arthur would not need Orm's help lmao RIP Vulko I choose to believe you were hanging around as a ghost like in Vol 5
One last gripe but omg Atlan's trident looked so BAD in some scenes??? It looked very prop-like, and not metal at all??? did anyone else notice it? It's really bad on the iceberg scene. The costumes were actually great but omg that trident prop lmao
OVERALL, it was a really fun movie. I'm happy to say that I liked it. I think it will get bad critic reviews and really good audience reviews. It just felt very fun and heartfelt. The action scenes were also well lit and easy to follow, and that alone should convince people to see it
I'm going to see it again tomorrow and I want to make a list of the other random things that I noticed. I know I'm missing a lot. How did ya'll feel about it??

Do you think it’d be an interesting side story if Teenage Garth and Donna became real close but started to drift apart after Garth found out she was dating Roy? And of course it’d contribute to him leaving the titans but also adding some internal conflict about how he feels betrayed in a way.
Well... if Garth and Donna have a strictly platonic relationship, then yes, absolutely! The other titans being closer to each other is something that he absolutely feels self-conscious about. And while he's often shown "not understanding" Roy's (and occasionally Wally's) attraction to Donna, I think that also retroactively adds to the problem of feeling like an outsider on the team. Garth often feels like he's out of the loop on things so being close to Donna and then finding out that she might be closer to Roy would absolutely work.
If you mean Garth and Donna being romantically close, then honestly, no. Absolutely no hate to the people who do ship them, but I really hate Garth/Donna..... I mean first just the whole forcing Donna to be with every male friend in her vicinity thing, but it also just,, doesn't make sense from a character or narrative perspective. I mentioned recently that the fab five treat Garth like he's their inexperienced younger brother, and Donna is consistently one of the first people to do that. They have some similarities with being from Different places and wanting to fit in, but instead of bonding over that in a "we're the same let's kiss" kind of way, Donna just understands him and feels protective of him because of it. This is really important to her characterization! She's not nice to him because she thinks he's cute, she's nice because she understands how he feels and doesn't want him to have a hard time, especially when people like Roy and Wally occasionally insult him for it.
And Garth... listen, I don't like killing female characters off just so the male character has a special arc thing. That being said, Tula is so intrinsically tied to Garth's identity that trying to take her away is... it doesn't work the way they think it works. I'm not saying that Garth having crushes or relationships before Tula would diminish their relationship, but I am saying that Tula being Garth's first love is Very important to him as a character. The idea of love and loss of love is fundamental to his narrative. Donna is absolutely important to him, but she's also his cool friend who kicks ass with him, not the love of his life.
ANYWAY, yeah,,, i really enjoy Garth and Donna's friendship!! And I'd love it if we could get back to them being besties and siblings!! While I do think it's important for Garth to focus on how he feels left out by all of the titans, having little mini arcs about specific members wouldn't be a bad thing at all.
However! I don't think Garth would feel betrayed by Donna or Roy (I mean why would he feel betrayed by Roy...), at least,,, not in the classical sense. He would kind of feel betrayed, but betrayal does partially imply that it's their fault or at least that he's blaming them, and Garth wouldn't do that. Instead, Garth would just use this as an example of not belonging with them. He'd turn it into a self-hate "I don't belong here and this is more proof of that" campaign, not a "they hurt my feelings" thing.

I always wondered what age all the rangers, especially the grey company ones would be, and also more in general how dúnedain aging even works, and how the maturity compares to "normal humans"/middle men
I mean we do know that all the grey company rangers are dúnedain, even if they aren't of royal blood/direct descent of isildur, and therefore still have a longer life expectancy than normal humans. I don't know/am not sure, if we actually have information on that, but I would say, that means that the usual one is about 140-150 years, maybe?
Now the question is, where do the gc rangers fit in, and how old are they compared to aragorn?
In my mind, idk if I read that somewhere, i believe that Dúnedain mature at 25, and that's probably when they get sworn to aragorn, so Helchon is somewhere around 25 or 26 years.
Thanks to an ao3 fic I read some time ago, I hc Candaith to be rather young for a ranger, somewhere in his early thirties, also because (courtesy of that fic aswell) the lone ranger thing wasn't actually planned, but the other rangers just- died (blame garth agarwen. that always works) another contributing factor to young(ish)!candaith might be bc of the oc that i ship him with- but that's beside the point
Calenglad, as we know, is older than Aragorn, by at least about 20 years, and with him, in my mind-, looking like he's in his forties somewhere (leaning towards late forties), something inbetween 107-120 seems fitting
Golodir, I'd believe, is somewhere similar to Calenglad, possibly a bit older, but due to all the Angmar shit- being mordirith's favourite punching bag for a few years straight does that to you- has aged faster, which puts him somewhere in the range of 120/120+ give or take
Corunir and Lorniel were besties and a similar age, change my mind. With that, and my headcanon for Angmar being give or take 10 years long, they were definitely older than 25 to actually go on that journey, and at the very least two-to-three years older, for the experience, which would put them somewhere in their early 40s/40s. That would mean that Golodir had Lorniel at about 80- which is fine, ig? Aragorn had Eldarion at 91, tho he also lived to 210, so I dunno if he is a valid comparison.
Anyway, this were the first rangers that came to mind- [actually, now that I think about it loth and rads too- and amdir, dagoras, daervunn, saeradan, halbarad- but i can't be bothered to write smth about them]
here you go *cutely hands you my first post*

I finished Clark's route a couple of times over by now, and I want to tell you how much I am LOVING THIS!
I loved it when it brought up the need to plot an escape, because this is exactly what I go to yandere/horror romance for! I love being given crazy situations that you have to think your way out of, and you have a decent amount of time to do so. I love stuff like this because it makes life feel like a puzzle to be solved, and I get this euphoric feeling that if I can just think through a problem with all of my options, I can escape anything.
I love the characterization of Poptart! I love that just having a different perspective of a character can change their name in the text boxes. This is just so amazing, thank you!
I love seeing the relationship develop between Cadence and Clark. At first, I was a bit upset that there wasn't much romantic action going on between them, but it just made it so much better when he finally did show his love for her! It was SO cute when Garth and Susie came to Cadence's rescue in the ending! I love that they immediately reacted like normal people, not characters in a romance, expecting a romance.
I love that even though Cadence and Susie go through so much to separate them, they still want to be friends, and want to work through their issues instead of just ditching each other because it's easier. This gave me hope in humanity, and I am so grateful that you included this in the story! I need more stuff like this, stuff that gives life a different perspective. I've struggled in the past, viewing people the same as tissues, not having a friend longer than a year, but this gave me hope that my bestie and I can stay friends even after this one year together.
This friend is the one who told me about this game a few months ago. I am so happy to see this release the year that I am almost the same age as Cadence, so I can see myself in her shoes and love a 16-year-old for about three years before feeling weird about the age gap. I'm sure it doesn't matter to some people, but it matters to me, and that's just a special treat for me.
The ending did leave me a little confused. It's weird to just change the mechanics of a school like that.
I just want to mention something about the storyline, and I'm trying to avoid spoilers, but I realized while playing my second time that some of the bad parts of this game happen right on my birthday. My birthday lands on the day that they were supposed to do something fun but weren't able to. I know that if I were in that situation next year, I would start sobbing hysterically. I would hate to make big plans for my sweet sixteen only to improvise the way that they did. August birthdays😭
WOOOOO! Wow, thank you so much for all of your feedback!! I'm really happy that the game spoke to you on such a deep level, especially the themes surrounding friendship. I'll admit I wasn't perfect on that front either and lost my fair share of friends during my middle and high school years, but as you grow, you will better learn which ones are worth keeping around.
It's very cool that you got to experience the game right around Cadence's age. Even as you get older, there's nothing that says you can't stop loving these characters. They'll always be here for you when you need them.
