EPISODE 12 ✿ I GOT YOU

it was silent when you arrived. diluc was already there, his eyes focused on his phone, typing.

pulling up the chair next to him, his attention shifts towards you. “are you certain you're okay with this today?” he asks. you nodded to him, getting your things ready.

he didn't pry any further—not that he could anyway. even if diluc did show concern for you like any other decent person would, he couldn't cross the line that separates you both from being a tutee and a tutor.

it was obvious that you were distracted.

although diluc was well aware of the fact that it takes you a bit of time to understand a lesson, this time it was just different.

it was like you weren't listening at all.

“are you alright?” he asks, suddenly stopping to explain the process of solving. you nodded mindlessly at him, your eyes focused on something else. it was obvious that you weren't properly listening to him.

“you're not fine,” he says.

that made you snap out of your thoughts. everything was running through your head. deadlines, projects, errands, and many more. it was like your brain was going overload and was about to go haywire anytime soon.

“sorry.” that was all you replied—that was all you could reply with.

he shakes his head, “no need to apologize. maybe we should've canceled for today.”

“huh? but that's unfair for you.”

“unfair in what way, exactly?”

okay, he got you there. you weren't even sure what would be unfair in the first place. “i thought so. also i would very much prefer if my tutee would be in the right headspace when she takes her tutor lessons.” he chuckles a bit—soft yet you could notice the slight deepness to his voice.

“sorry,” you apologized again. “it's just that everything is just so… exhausting? or draining lately. i’m not even a goddamn drainage to feel like this," you sighed.

diluc didn't utter a single word after that. with his eyes darting to all sorts of things that are scattered across the table in front of you, he tried to find the right words to say.

“it’s alright. i know things aren't really fine right now, but it'll be okay soon. it happens to everyone; don't worry.”

now it was your turn not to say anything back. but diluc continued on anyway. “it's okay to not be okay, (name).”

huh. who knew that diluc just said the exact words you needed to hear?

“... thanks, diluc. i kinda needed that.”

“anytime. i got you, okay?”

you nodded at him again, but this time your lips had already curled up to a small smile.

by the time you stepped foot into your shared dormitory, diluc’s words kept echoing inside your head.

i got you, okay?

maybe tomorrow will treat you a bit better.

Technomaniac!Yuu

I'm just here to mix-and-match different kinds of Yuus with different kinds of personalities to see what monstrosity I can make. That being said,,, Technomaniac!Yuu brainrot! 

So basically this Yuu belongs in the High Fantasy Yuuniverse on the human side and they’re absolutely obsessed with technology and becomes unhinged when creating stuff. 

Mayhaps their family ran a robot-related business or a machine-creating business and that’s where their obsession started. Maybe Yuu’s obsession further increased due to the fact that they were a human being in a world full of otherworldly creatures.

In a world of high fantasy, there’s bound to be differing opinions and speciesism can’t be avoided. 

Some creatures thought humans were inferior due to their short lifespans. That they were greedy and ignorant. Some humans were even prejudiced to their own kind. Others thought humans in a more positive light, the fact that they were versatile and determined when it comes to things.

So Yuu with no magic and no super powers strived to be the best in the only thing they knew they could fully control and wanted to prove to everyone that humans weren’t inferior, thus beginning their obsession.

This Yuu has this cute little drone hovering over them all the time because I said so. The drone’s very expressive and acts as a kind of assistant for Yuu. 

So anyway, the day of the entrance ceremony?

Forget Grim opening the coffin, Yuu just ordered the drone to laser through the lid and then kicked it open. 

Seeing this, Grim became startled but then soon after demanded their robe.

“Beep! Threat detected! Determining threat level, please wait… Threat level determined. Warning: Threat level 5, initiating self-defense protocol.” The drone hovering over Yuu’s shoulder turned to an alarming shade of red but before it could do anything, Yuu waved them off gently. “Stand down, A1.”

Yeah, the little drone’s called A1 meaning Assistant 1.

Thankfully, a battle between the force of fire and laser never happened since Yuu saw no reason to wear the ceremonial robe because they felt their clothes were much better and gave it to Grim but only on the condition that Grim become their second assistant.

Grim, too focused on acquiring the robe at all cost, didn’t notice Yuu’s condition.

Anyway, guess what Grim’s nickname is. Yeah, that’s right. It’s A2 for Assistant 2.

Let it be known Technomaniac!Yuu has no penchant for naming. All that’s in their brain is making technological stuff.

I just suddenly thought of Yuu having Doofenshmirtz penchant for naming, just slapping ‘-inator’ at the end of their creation’s names.

Can you imagine an overblot and Yuu just pulls out this strange device and introduces it like:

Yuu: “Behold! Marvel at my ‘Insta-Knockout SlumberBlaster 3000-inator!’ Riddle’s going to definitely go down with this in just one hit!” A1: “With only an approximate 63% chance of dealing concussion! A massive improvement from the previous trials!”  Ace: “Excuse me, only 63%? Wait— Previous trials? Yuu, who did you test it on for you to get that statistic? Yuu? Yuu, come back here! Who did you test it on?! Yuu!”

Another overblot scenario would be…

A1: “Beep! Threat detected! Determining threat level, please wait…” Someone: “W… Why do you need to determine his threat level??? He’s literally about to kill us???” Yuu: “No, no, let my child cook.” A1: “Threat level determined. Warning: Threat level 10. Suggesting course of action: Run.” Yuu: “Okay, now we run.”

Let’s not forget holograms!

Imagine Deuce seeing Yuu facing away from him in the distance so he runs over to them and tries to gain their attention. He tries to tap Yuu’s shoulder but their hand just goes over Yuu’s form, leaving a slight glitch-like effect where Deuce’s hand passes through.

Hologram Yuu looks over to Deuce and says:

“Alas, as I am not here, I disappear.”

Then throws out a peace sign before slowly fading away while still maintaining eye contact.

Now that I think about it, on the first day of their janitorial duties, Yuu was able to make a weird-looking cleaning device out of metal scraps and pieces they found in Ramshackle and it somehow worked.

Well, for the most part anyway. 

Having no windows technically meant nothing to clean so in a way Yuu was doing their job, yes?

Yeah, Yuu broke a few windows and may have contributed to the chandelier also breaking that day so Deuce ain’t the only one at fault for this.

Speaking of, Ace’s first meeting with Yuu.

When he was introducing the Statues of the Great Seven to Grim and Yuu, Yuu turned to him and asked in the most serious voice possible if Ace wanted the statues to be animated by turning it into animatronics.

Ace barely managed to stop Yuu from dismembering the statues.

Technomaniac Yuu at literally everything they can see: “I can make it better!”

Giving broken things to Technomaniac!Yuu to be fixed is a gamble. 

Oh, a toaster? Well, you either get a completely fixed toaster that’s a bit better with warming your bread than before or it turns into a charcoal-maker. There is no inbetween.

Your phone? Oops, might’ve accidentally turned the flashlight function into a flashbang, teehee.

Technomaniac!Yuu is basically the tech support of NRC.\

Or more like tech terror. Tech-rorr, get it? I’m so funny.

Speaking of NRC, Yuu got banned from going to Ignihyde dorm.

That’s because they got too excited seeing all the new devices and technology they haven’t seen before in the dorm and kind of dismantled almost everything to see how it worked.

Ooooo, now that I’m thinking of it, cybernetic body modifications!

Like, what if they got severely injured against one of the overblot boys? Lost a limb or two? Or maybe they already had cybernetic body modifications even before they arrived in Twisted Wonderland.

Imagine them having an arm kinda similar to the robot arm Princess Bubblegum gifted Finn with the various power tools/weapons functions. There’s probably a rocket launcher function around there somewhere.

 Rook tries to stalk Technomaniac!Yuu but it always ends up being a hologram. Why do you think Rook calls them Trickster?

Wait, can you imagine the dynamic between Technomaniac!Yuu and Malleus?

One’s so bad at technology while the other’s the complete opposite.

Yuu asks Malleus if he wants his phone to be upgraded and suddenly Malleus’ phone has a built-in taser, ultra hd 4k graphics camera and video resolution, live tamagotchi game synchronization and surveillance, 24/7 AI assistance, unlimited wifi, faster internet speed, ultra deluxe storage expansion, the strongest antivirus known to to mankind, and Malleus still doesn’t know how to use his phone.

Yuu learns Briar Valley has technomancy and they’re immediately putting that place as a vacation spot because hello? Combining magic and technology? Can you imagine all the things they could create with those two forces combined? They’d be unstoppable!

Also, the Magicam Monsters stand no chance against Technomaniac!Yuu.

The moment those suckers break into Ramshackle, Yuu would immediately interfere with their gadgets and kick them out if they’re feeling merciful.

If not, well, say hello to the most vengeful virus they’ve ever met in their lives. 

No matter what gadget they change into, the virus will always follow them everywhere in the cyberspace network and break their devices or cause them the most annoying inconveniences. 

Slow internet? You betcha! Wifi symbol on but internet not coming through? Why, it happens almost every other day! Apps failing to open at the most crucial time? Lmao, rofl.

Speaking of gadget, Cater probably asks Yuu to upgrade his phone so he can take better selfies.

Thankfully the upgrade was a success and nothing exploded.

Yuu: “Well, here’s your phone, Cater! New and improved with better camera quality, efficiency, and effectiveness! Also, I hope you don’t mind but I also added an app that I occasionally use called Therapy Bot. Free of charge!” Cater: “Thanks, Yuu! Wait—” Yuu, looking around and leaning in to whisper: “Between you and me, I think everyone in this school could really benefit from Therapy Bot.”

Technomaniac!Yuu the most unhinged yet one of the most sane Yuu variants out there.

Self / Independent Learner's Guide to Language Learning From Zero

-a mini study plan I used this for Spanish, French and Italian, it is my favourite way of starting to learn. It won't teach you the langauge but if this is your first time, if you feel confused and don't know where to begin, this is for you! -this is kinda romance langauge based but might give you ideas if you are learning from a different family too -this is very notebook / writing based since i prefer learning that way Step 1: Preperation

First of all, ask yourself "do i already have some amount of immersion in this langauge?" As humans, we learn from immersion a lot. Songs, but especially visual media is incredibly heplful. I never studied japanese but after watching a few animes i picked up 5-10 random words. Passive vocabulary, being familiar to most common words will be your biggest friend. If the answer is no, before start studying ANYTHING do some immersion. e.g. I watched dix pour cent for French and learned arrêt which means stop because characters were shouting to each other all the time.

After making sure you have some immersion or if you already have some, PREPARE YOUR RESOURCES. Make a file in your computer, reblog tumblr posts, save links. Search for pdfs in google. (x language a1 pdf / x langauge a1 grammar book / x language a1 reading) Free PDF's and and useful websites. The more the merrier. Why? Because when you actually start learning you will slowly realise them half of them are not actually useful, too advance, too simple, not in your preffered style etc. You will en up using same handful amount of resources again and again but before that, you have to TRY EVERYTHING. You are unique and so will be your learning process.

Google x language A1 curriculum. (you can try adding "pdf" at the end of sentence as well) It "probably/ hopefully" exists. If you can't find that way, learn which offical exam is necessary (e.g. for French it's DELF/DALF, in english there is IELTS and so many more) If you are lucky, you can find a langauge teaching enstitute's curriculum and you can find in what order they teach things. This was very helpful for me because sometimes you don't know what to study next, or just want to visualise what do you need to learn, it is helpful. I printed one out and paste it to the back cover of my notebook. You won't need this one YET. I'll explain in a second. Keep reading.

Get a notebook. I don't prefer books while learning from zero because it will be filled with vocabulary you don't know. My pereference is no squares no lines empty ass notebook and colorful pens. I'm a person of shitty doodles. I love to draw and visualise things. It really helps my brain. In A1, your knowledge is absouletly zero and your brain is about the explode with realising GREAT MASS of knowledge you need to learn in order to be "fluent" . So keep things away from being "too much" if you want to avoid a burnout.

Set a timer. If you want to avoid burnout, the secret is always quit when you feel like you can go another round happily. Quit when you are dopamine high. If you study too much, next day you'll wake up tired, want to rest etc. and make it harder for you to create a habit. I did this mistake with French by studying 4-5 hours everyday for around 30 days. I completed my challenge, completly quit and then didn't come back for MONTHS.

You will be re-studying A LOT. Language learning is repetition. You will start by studying "the A1 curriculum". But, because this is your first time your focus will be on the vocabulary and general comprehension. You are trying to re-wire your brain, and learn a different way of thinking and living. It's not easy. It will take time. It will be painful at times. But it is 100% worth it.

After you finished studying your curriculum, you'll take a short break and then study the curriculum AGAIN. For a second time. Because you already know the basics, this time you will be able to focus more on the little things you weren't able to comprehend the last time. e.g. articles or whatever little frustaring thing your langauge has. Also focus more on basic prononciation and especially reading aloud. Find a realistic text-to-reader. Copy-paste a text. Listen and repeat.

Get a new Youtube and Instagram account dedicated to langauge study. How many good resources exists and where they are is really depens on which langauge you are learning. For english, youtube is better. For French, instagram is better. You have to see for yourself. If you get a seperate account for your langauge algorith will learn faster and you won't be distracted by other stuff. Short form engaging videos are the best for absolute beginners. Re-watch things and try to repeat them out loud. It's called shadowing and is your future best friend.

If you want to learn how to speak, you first need to how to write. If you can't write sentences without looking at google translate (or reverso) you won't be able to make up sentences in your head. If you want to learn how to write, your first need to learn how to read. You need to start in this order but also don't be perfectionist. Do it even if you do it wrong. They will be fixed eventually and won't stick. Record yourself speaking even if the text you are reading is 90% google translated. Why? Beacuse speaking will enhance your vocabulary in a way no other thing can and that's the core of reading. So this isn't a linear thing. It's actually a circle!

Step Two! Ok, Sadie, i got my notebooks and read through all the warnings where do i start? *First page: [] means written is target langauge

Add something cute and make you feel happy to open up the notebook. It can a drawing, a picture, anything. First page is your entrance to your new home. Make it welcoming.

*[My name is X. I am Y years old. I live in Z.] *Greetings. Main articles if there are any. Yes, no, please, thank you. *What is your name, what do you do for living, how are you, where are you from, how old are you, how many langauges do you speak, numbers from 0-100. If there are multiple way of saying these things and probably there are, just write one. You will eventually learn others. Baby steps. *write a basic ass text of two people having a conversation asking and answering these questions.

*the alphabet and how to pronounce the letters. basic letter combinations that change into a different sound. a youtube video about this 100% exists.

*personal pronouns and if there is a "am/is/are" verb the conjugation of it. (in spanish there is two unfortunately) *artciles and basic noun endings. a couple exemples of nouns in x form but takes y article. *first 5 most common verbs. learn the conjugation, try writing basic ass sentences. (e.g. to come, go, have, speak)

*three more verbs (e.g. to eat, can, to want)

*take some time to fully comprehend. check your curriculum list to look and see if you want to add anything. e.g.for spanish that can be ser vs estar, for spanish is can be "how to ask questions in french" becaue it's way harder compared to other langauges.

*take some break from grammar and learn some vocab maybe. it can be colors, or feelings. (i am sad, i am hungry etc.)

*start studying most common verbs. usually a form of categorization exists. usually it's verb ending. (unless it's a language like turkish where every verb either ends with -mek or -mak lol.) Start with 10- 15 most common verbs. You will also be learning some vocabulary by default. (try to stick to regular verbs if you can, if not that's fine) (Do not learn any verbs you won't be able to use immediately.)

*Learn basic adjectives and how they work so you can form more detailed sentences.

*After comprehending how to form basic positive negative sentences and some verbs, congratulate yourself, because you deserve it! *Learn how tell time. "What time is it? It's x'o clock."

*learn clothing and how to simply describe physical look e.g. hair color, eye color, beard, glasses...

*learn the verbs of daily routine. be able to write a generic ass "i wake up, i do breakfast, i eat lunch at school, i sleep" sort of text.

*demonstratives. this that. these. those. you can add some vocabulary you like. this is a cat. this is a tree. you can add placement adjectives now or later. (the cat is under the sofa. the bird is on the table etc.)

*Now you know a lot of things! Take some time and focus a bit more on the vocab, let your brain process things, do some passive immersion. avoid a burnout at all costs. *learn how to say "there is" (if you want more vocab transportation and city centre themes can be included.) *learn how to talk about your hobbies. This is the generic A1 curriuculum. You are able to understand basic things, you have a generic comprehension. That's all it takes to be considered A1. If you want to pass it though, what you need is a good grammar source. For French and Spanish Kwiziq was very useful. I couldn't find a good online grammar resource for Italian yet. (please ask more experienced langblrs for recs.) Slowly learn more vocab (since A1 is more vocab based. If you hate Anki and Quizlet stuff check Linguno. Actually check Linguno anyway it's a banger and i'm gonna die on that hill.)

If you don't have have native friend to ask questiones and you don't have any ethical concerns ChatGPT can be useful. I'm using it for French for months. Why are we using this particle here, why this and not that, can you give me some example sentences.... you can play guess the animal, ask for writing prompts and then make ChatGpt find and explain your mistakes to you. It's very handy.

What I’ve Learned About Puerto Rican Spanish (so far)-Part 1 out of probably more

Some notes before we begin:

-I’ve been studying Spanish on a whole for 3 months. I’m not a native speaker, nor am I Puerto Rican. I will be running this post by my Puerto Rican boyfriend for accuracy’s sake and so I don’t throw around misinformation

-if you can’t tell by me saying “Puerto Rican boyfriend” up there, I’ll be giving this dialect and accent the praise it rightfully deserves as a diverse piece of this beautiful language but I might be a little bit biased 😂

This is the dialect and accent that I’m slowly trying to integrate into my studies naturally so I can eventually adopt it as my own.

Puerto Rico and its language is a prime example of the very thing my nerd brain loves to learn about instead of actually studying the language like I should: the ways that various influences can shape a language. Puerto Rico was one of the lucky ones that got colonized two whole times (fun fact: This Is Bad) and because of that it’s a fairly bilingual culture. Their Spanish is not only beautifully Latino and Caribbean, it’s also very English. Spanglish, if you will. Cursed by the Anglophones. But it’s really cool, admittedly.

Pronunciation

All of this to say that Puerto Rican Spanish doesn’t have all that “c (the)” and “z (theta)” stuff from Spain, for starters, but there’s some other interesting aspects to the speech.

-Puerto Ricans speak fast. Maybe I’m just getting that impression as an A1 beginner but it seems like it’s true.

-Lots of times the “R” sound is replaced with an “L” (“hablar”=“hablal”)

-Like many other dialects they “eat the S” (“buscar”=“bucal”)

-but they’re still hungry so they also eat whole halves of words (“Estás”=“‘Ta”)

-if there’s a “D” in the middle of some vowels or at the end of a word it gets dropped (“cansado”=“cana’o”, “verdad”=“velda’”

-There’s this beautiful rhythm to their speech. It sounds a bit like maybe they put more emphasis on the vowels and I’ve heard it described as almost sing-song, but it’s hard to describe. It’s incredibly unique.

-in some areas the “R” can turn into a hard “H” sound, although I personally haven’t heard this yet

Unique words and phrases, there are more than these but these are the ones I understand enough to feel like I can teach ok vamos

“¿Qué es la que hay?”-“How’s it going?” (Sounds like “¿Qué la que hay?”)

Though most other ways to extend the same greeting can be used, this is a great one to get Puerto Ricans‘ attention and make anyone else go “where did you learn that, what, I’m so confused”

“Corillo”-“gang/group of friends”

This is equivalent to how we use “gang” in English casually to mean our friends, I don’t believe it means a literal gang with gang activity.

“Janguear”-“to hang out” (sounds like “jangueal”)

This is a verb that sounds exactly like what it means, since it comes from English. I have suspicions that there are multiple ways to spell it but this is what I was taught.

“Birra”-“beer”

Self-explanatory. I like this one more than “cerveza” anyway.

“Parquear”-“to park” (sounds like “palqueal”)

Another self-explanatory one. It’s fun to say and makes me wish I could drive so I had an excuse to say it.

“Ahorita”-uhhhhh

I lied about only picking words I understand. I’ll get back to you on this but from what I can tell if “ahora” means “now” then “ahorita” means “a little bit from now”(???). But I really don’t know, it’s not really that. But it is. Remind me to take this section out, alright cool.

“Puñeta”-lit. “jack off”, but a general curse word

Don’t use this one. Don’t tell anyone I told you about it. Take this to your grave. I’m a good influence. I’m a good influence. I’m a

“Bochinche”-“gossip”

This means gossip but not the idle kind, more like the kind you really shouldn’t be throwing around without really meaning it (like what I’m not doing with the words on this list). Slander, I guess. Don’t do this it’s mean 😡

“Duro”-“skilled”

This is in most Spanish dialects and usually means “hard” or “durable”, but Puerto Ricans use it in another way: to say someone’s good at something. Mi español no es duro, por ejemplo.

“Brutal”-“great”

This isn’t like “brutal” in English, being a bad thing. It’s slang that’s saying that something’s really cool or great.

“Buscar” can also mean “to pick someone up (from something)” in Puerto Rico, so like if you were offering to drive your friend somewhere. And it still can sound like “bucal”

think that’s all I’ve got in me

I get most of my info from this subject from the YouTube channel Learn Spanish Faster. Specifically the videos on various Puerto Rican words and the accent, both with more information than I have here. Definitely worth checking out!

I asked my boyfriend if he had anything to say to anyone reading this who might be interested in learning more. This is what he had to say:

“hmmm. Puñeta is much more than a general curse word. It’s a way of life. we say it for excitement. we say it for anger. we say it for sadness. when something is extremely difficult: ‘esto esta puñetero’”

He was very excited when I learned that word so it’s no surprise he would share this with you all. It’s a very versatile one he uses a lot and likes a lot (I like it too). Just please be responsible with it.

I’ll definitely make a part 2 once I learn more but this is a good place to leave it, I think.

Hi im having gortash brain rot and thinking of a reverse au for durgetash. Like instead of durge being usurped, it was gortash. Orin takes his place to none the wiser of durge for a while.

So gortash as tav has hardcore amnesia and is travelling to Baldur’s gate to find out “hey wtf why is there a guy w my exact face and name??” N ofc durge is still the chosen of bhaal, and offers him an alliance again. The kidnapping still occurs w Orin tho.

Also, sadly he’d kill Karlach in a1 😔😔 he had to since she seemed to kno him n hate his guts!! This is probs when he begins to have an inkling into his past n that he probs wasn’t a good person at all.

rid, im not joking when i say this is everything i want in a fanfic. like ex2l always gets me, and you legit mastered it with this one. something about right person wrong time just does it for me. that opening line was so simple but so so so beautiful:

"Love doesn't bloom during frigid winters."

and your ability to fully write in the pov of the character that you've crafted is nutty. like on the outside, it seems like a simple thing to do, but ik from experience that it's really not. like the way you perfectly represented oc's bleakness in the beginning through the word choices, that only shifts when taehyung is being discussed, is a1 storytelling. and same with him, like even when things are falling apart, the metaphor compares oc to a star, n that's how he sees her despite the circumstances. IM EMOTIONAL!!!

wanna give my personal 2 cents on the “why do people draw edward as an old man when he's 30 years younger than james" posts and the "um actually he's an old man and a dilf and awdry intended him to be like that" posts I’ve been seeing on tumblr and twitter. well I myself am not a man of big arguments and my brain always thought of “coleslaw vs potato salad” whenever I see online arguments but to do my part as a citizen of the internet I want to give my own opinions.

personally I don’t think it’s that serious bro 😂😂😂 THEY'RE ALL 100 YEAR OLD STEAM ENGINES BROOO!!!!! 😂😂😂 IT’S NOT THAT SERIOUS!!!!! HAHAHA COME ONNNNNN ALL THE STEAM ENGINES IN THOMAS AND FRIENDS ARE ALL OVER 100 YEARS OLD 😂😂😂 THEY’RE ALL OLDDDD AS FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!! LIKE.... to bring out the big diagrams:

thomas' lbscr e2 basis is 109 years old. yet many people draw him as a young man/teenager. gordon's a1 pacific basis is 101 years old. yet some people draw him as a middle aged man and some also draw him as a young man. the james consensus is also like gordon. NOT TO MENTION THE DIESELS!!!! they are much younger than the steam engines however I saw some people drawing their gijinkas older than thomas and some draw them as old as him. never younger. and so on. it’s never explicitly stated by awdry or the showrunners to interpret the engines in human lingo as “young” or “old” by human standards. because they’re not humans.... biggg shocker!!!!

I like to believe these types of gijinkas are because people listen to their voices and see their personalities and conjure up their personal human designs of them inside their heads.... like some people see the main character energy exuding off of thomas and thought “young man who wants to be useful but also gets into situations where he slowly humbled” and that’s also how it came to be with edward. he constantly watches over thomas and gives him advice and supports him during his first days on sodor. this seemingly wise demeanor coupled with his basis’ age made people create an image of a friendly old man inside their heads. keep in mind again that canonically ALL THE STEAM ENGINES are over 100 years old but people make such huge differences in age in their human designs. and to that I just say: WE BALL!!!!!!!! LIFE IS A SANDBOX.... AND EVERYONE HERE ARE THE PRESCHOOLERS!!!!

anddddd back to the “why do people draw human edward as an old man” argument. so logically speaking, everyone should draw the gijinkas of the engines looking like this

Federation experiment HC/AU

I might write something in this AU in the future, but I've had this idea stuck in my brain for a long time now!

I first thought of this when we got the egg/federation lore dropped on us after the Prison event, before everyone was moved to the new spawn location.

When Pomme and Dapper publicly left the server, I had an idea about them and BBH having a life off the island that fits into this universe. And when Philza started his Stardew Valley world, I thought of an idea for the Death family to have a life off the island, that also fits into this universe.

If I do write anything in this AU, it would probably be those stories (BBH and Phil/Missa), but I could probably think of something for the other eggs. Especially a story about Hope! I have so many ideas for them :]

The eggs are stuck as “eggs” because of the control that the federation has on them. If they ever found a way to leave federation islands, they would “hatch,” or turn into children.

The federation has complete control over this “hatching,” so long as they are on federation islands. Cucuruchos also start as eggs, but they’re is raised by the federation before hatching. This allows the federation to brainwash them. q!Jaiden was in charge of this brainwashing for some of these Cucuruchos who had already hatched and needed further “training.”

Some eggs were created for testing different things.

Chayanne, Ramon, Dapper, Leo, Tilin, Bobby, Juanaflippa, and Trumpet were created to test how their personalities are formed by people around them. They were adopted by islanders in pairs or individuals, and their personalities developed and were molded by their parents’ influence. They were also a way for the federation to test the islanders’ capabilities as caretakers. 

Tallulah, Pomme, Richarlyson, and “Hope” were created to test how their personalities formed without any outside influence. Unfortunately for the federation, Tallulah, Pomme, and Richas were all found by islanders, and they became an extension of the first group. 

When the objective for those 3 were changed, the federation overlooked Hope and quickly forgot to take care of them. It is unknown what happened to Hope, but based on what Cellbit found they could have either died or ran away. [[Maybe after being abandoned by the federation, Hope hatched and became a person, leaving the islands and making a life for themself. Maybe they would come back, or be found eventually.]]

Sunny, Empanada, and Pepito were sent to a different federation island to test the way they developed in harsher conditions. They were eventually retrieved by federation employees and brought back to the main island, where they were given to parents and their test objective was changed, same as those in group 2.

Chunsik was created to appease new islanders. He was not created for any tests or experiments. The federation knew that new residents would be jealous of the other parents, and would eventually request an egg of their own.

Egg A1 was going to become a Cucurucho. They failed one of the first tests and died. If they hadn’t died in the parkour course, they would have been sent through more testing before being trained to become a Cucurucho by a federation employee.

SWTE A1 C11 - 2 Winners, 6 Losers 

“Let’s slaughter the little prince.”

Admittedly the most active chapter yet. Still in Eurus, but it’s getting less Winter Wonderland and more Nightmare Before Christmas, as evidenced by a monstrous drinking game, a life-threatening race, and that last sentence. Without further ado, here are our many losers and occasional winners of “A Foul-Mouthed, Sociopathic ***”. Spoilers below the cut. 

Winner: James Potter (& Simon & The Unnamed Female Waitress) 

I’m starting to think that no matter what happens to him he’s a winner if only because of his mentality? Anyways, he is undoubtedly a winner this chapter- he has a fun night that he enjoys, and got a family heirloom that he thought he lost, a bracelet designed in Hyderabad by an ancestor, hand-delivered to him by his crush, who then admitted that they were friends. Getting screamed at by said crush for experimenting sexually aside, he’s kind of in the zone. 

Winner: Remus Lupin 

Ski Champion Lupin went on a date with Sirius, won against Regulus on a Black Diamond course, and kept his presidential candidate loyal to him. A win is a win. 

Loser: Lucius Malfoy 

To be honest, the only reason I’m putting Soy Boy Himbo Lucius as a loser is because he got fired from Greyscar. Seriously, he held his own during Slut in the Hut, was lowkey having a romantic moment with Narcissa, and remains MMG’s chairman. Unfortunately, one of the most powerful men in America know he was a spy, so he is absolutely and completely fucked. 

Loser: Emma Vanity 

Even though she was the first person voted out in Slut in the Hut, she had to deal with the most neurotic man on earth in her room (that is also her boss) until four in the fucking morning, watched his family humiliate him, dragged his hungover ass into her Rolls Royce, AND had to update him when he finally woke up. Justice for my girl Vanity. 

Loser: Orion Black 

Regulus, arguably his most suitable heir, let him down, and his other son was outed for his instability! I also feel like he’s getting  bit suspicious about Regulus’ intentions. Most obviously, his dead brother, Cygnus, just got an article published about him that seems weirdly accusatory. 

Loser: Narcissa Black

LISTEN, NARCISSA IS A LOSER AND I WILL HEAR NO COUNTERARGUMENTS. Malfoy got fired, and her conference was mediocre, and since she’s as much as a batshit perfectionist as Reggie is, that is the equivalent of standing on stage and bawling her eyes out. In Narcissa’s brain, as long as the attention (negative or positive) is on her male counterparts, she’s a loser- and in a horrible way, she’s right. 

Loser: Sirius Black 

Watching Lupin win the race was probably a massive turn-on for Sirius, but it kind of feels like he’s on the verge of some very bad decisions. His relationship with Lupin isn’t the most positive influence, and even though he’s been sober for a while, he’s still treated as unstable and volatile. If he doesn’t find a sense of stability, either with Marlene or in himself, I see things going downhill for Sirius, and FAST. Also, he didn’t get that joke about him being Oedipus. That’s so embarrassing. 

Loser: Regulus Black 

Since I don’t need to justify this, I’m just going to list his losses in order of least to most humiliating.

McGonagall being late 

The insinuation that he shouldn’t be serviced (AKA him misunderstanding Barty and Evan's hardcore flirting) 

Being forced to admit that him and James are friends  

Lupin getting to McGonagall before him 

Lupin beating him by two minutes…

…because he made the conscious decision to stop and retrieve James’ bracelet

Returning it the next morning to see that James has had a threesome with a woman and a man 

Getting absolutely roasted by Malfoy 

Being sent away from Eurus five days early

Sometimes people don’t have the same tell as their soulmate, sometimes their soulmate is platonic, and often people don’t know what their tell is. However, there are also people who wish they didn’t have a tell at all. Wouldn’t it be funny if Louise got the rare, the revered, and the most classically romantic Red String of Fate?

This one I’ve already got a good portion written, plus I’ve done a ton of worldbuilding. Ahh I’m so excited to share with y’all! It won’t be posted for a while 😅 but the world is really interesting to me so uhh if anyone had questions about it 👉👈 I’d love to talk about it!

2. Dystopian AU

Another one I’ve done worldbuilding for but probably wouldn’t write because it’s haaaard lol. This would be a world with an eradicated middle class; there are people with money and people without. It’d explore a lot of darker themes and warped values after extreme socioeconomic influence. The focus would be on the Dire Dogs, an infamous band of chaotic people wearing feral dog masks. Everyone assumes they’re from the lower class, people so beat down that they need to scream and break shit, but Louise has never seen blond hair like that in her neighborhood.

3. Three Wishes AU

Wishing is such an interesting concept. Like… it’s a story where you know the ending. You’re not supposed to wish for things, but what if it was different this time? Why can’t our desires come easily? Who deserves to have their wishes granted? What develops between a wisher and a wish granter, between the one who has desires and the one who fulfills them? What kind of mythology would evolve in a world where we really could wish for anything? What would the wishes be really, and what does it say about that character? So so fascinating.

4. Stranded on an Island AU

There was an episode of The Nanny that changed my brain chemistry as a kid and now I want to see everyone trapped on an island all the time. It’s got everything: forced proximity, teamwork or you die, the question of “who are you outside of society’s eye?” and tropical settings. It would make no sense. It would be silly. There’d be so much sexual tension it’s insane, ahhh!

5. Mafia AU

Screw it, let’s also throw in the most classic of all enemies to lovers AUs with a mafia AU. This could toootally go different ways. We could shift back to Al Capone era gangsters, we could have modern Louise join the One-Eyed Snakes, etc. etc. If it was in the past, then Logan as a rival gang leader would be A1. Modern era, then I think it’d be funnier if he took after his dad and became a doctor. And you know who often needs a doctor? 😏😏

One AU I would probably never write is a Swap AU of any kind (personality, age, gender, role, family, etc). They confuse my brain and usually change the dynamic too much to be recognizable.

Jokes aside, I'm pretty fond of the ship and have seen it work quite well. I've read quite a few tasertricks fics on ff.net, but none on a03, mostly because I was more into the ship when I was younger. I enjoy kicking around the idea and playing with the possibility of the pairing, but I have felt all excitement about shipping Loki with anyone drain from my very soul after the Loki series, hence why I haven't really done anything about it.

I guess I just like the set-up of the fics, where Loki, Darcy, Jane, and Thor are often plopped together into a space too small for four inhabitants, Loki and Thor are about 2 seconds away from actively stabbing each other at all times, and there's usually some sort of outside threat that forces Darcy and Loki to work together with their brains. Odin is a jerk. And if not that then the same thing but without Thor there. Idk. There's just something deeply comforting about the repetitiveness to me.

But as a pairing, I think that when Darcy, whose background is mostly a blank slate and her sole purpose in the movies is mostly to be Jane's Friend TM, is flushed out, I think that Darcy could be a good match for him. Given that I think that Loki enjoys verbal sparring--which she would do all the time--but also someone who would be supportive and a good listener. On the contrary, Darcy, who is from what we've seen, is usually pretty wild and I think a calmer partner would bring her a lot of peace, which is why I think they'd work together ~balance ~

Plus the two of them would never be against calling out BS in family situations, which would definitely help. Also Darcy is not an idiot, and Loki, I'm guessing, would be attracted to intelligence, so. Honestly I think if they weren't a couple, they would be really, really good friends.

This is why I don't think Sylvie/Loki or Mobius/Loki would work. they don't balance each other. Sylvie is constantly trying to kill/hurt someone, which means that Loki is always trying to mediate her emotions and she makes 0 effort to consider his, which would be draining. But it would be like this all the time. Sylvie hasn't been in a position where she's had to care about someone else's emotions since she was a very young child, and she needs someone who would constantly be smacking her metaphorically over the head about this in order to maintain a healthy bond. Loki wouldn't do this. He'd never be able to assert his needs or tell her no because she'd yell at him so he would be stuck in a cycle of exhaustion while she always won. Sylvie is an unintentional manipulator, I think, just because of her inexperience with people.

Mobius is an intentional one. Mobius on the other hand is never willing to take critique and does not want to help Loki grow as a person. He's so obsessed with the idea of Loki staying exactly as he is post A1 that he'll do almost anything to beat Loki down into that same place. Mobius does not know how to deal with a Loki who values themselves, nor does he want to. But because Mobius has no desire to help Loki evolve, or listen to Loki's needs even when he tells him directly, Loki would also never be happy or healthy inside of this relationship. Mobius is unwilling to change because he doesn't see anything wrong with what he's doing.

Darcy is different. She and Jane have maintained a friendship for years, she has a good relationship with Selvig and Jane, to the point that they move to a different country together. Darcy has been helping Jane with her post-Thor depression and encourages her dating. Darcy maintains a relationship with Ian, even if its mostly played for laughs by the movie. She may be a little socially awkward, but she is willing to help people, listen, and be supportive where she can. Once she and Loki became friends, I think that Darcy would be fiercely protective of him and help him grow and evolve in a healthy way and would be very proud of him.

actually, while I write this I am realizing that I do not often share my views on MCU ships because I don't tend to talk about it that often. I'm not really someone who is inside fandom to write about romance. It's usually pretty secondary to me. I honestly can't see myself writing a fic that's just about a pairing. There has to be something else going on than the "oh/oh" otherwise I get bored.

Tasertricks 8/10. will usually read the pairing. sometimes deeply annoyed by the way people write loki in the fics.
