can this arcane/league of legends character be trusted with your drink at a party?

caitlyn (8/10)

attended to house parties her whole life (probably not voluntarily) and kept a lot of peoples drinks safe. she tends to stay away from the party so a very solid option if you need a quick toilet break. will only let go of it in emergencies but makes sure to buy you a drink as an apology.

vi (4/10)

might take a sip if the beverage is up her alley. can and will judge you based on your drink of choice. doesn't let go of the drink in any cases but anybody could spike the drink and homegirl wouldn't realize it. (makes sure they memorize her fist print is she does though)

jinx (0)

you wake up in a cold bath with empty ice bags on the ground. the side of your body feels super warm. you got the jinxed ending. have fun living without a liver.

ekko (7/10)

he dances while holding the cup 🥺🥺 will definietly ask if he can take a sip regardless of what the drink is. slightly pouts upon hearing no but won't force you to elaborate on it. drama queen, will close the cup with his palms if he hears you approaching

heimerdinger (7/10)

will try his best to protect your drink. holds it with both of his hands. realistically, somebody could just swoop in and take it from his grasp but otherwise, another solid choice.

viktor (4/10)

why must you do this to him??? nervous that a half empty drink in hand might be an excuse for other people to speak to him. just stands there, you find him in the exact position as you left him. there's a big chance he might just leave it there if the party gets too intense.

mel (10/10)

super natural and professional about it. will sip only a little to make sure she leaves her lipstick mark on it. sways the glass slowly while gracefully holding a conversation.

jayce (8/10)

he's excited🥺🥺 holds it like a trophy. he fights for a safe drink, he'll die for a safe drink. might get bored if you take too long and theres a slight chance that he WILL judge you for your drinking choices.

singed (no)

silco (5/10)

if he likes you, he'll death stare anyone that gets close to the drink in question. if he doesn't, the houseplants will be seeing some action.

"hey silco can you hold this for a minute?"

"of course, love."

she also drinks without asking, not because she likes it but just to see you flustered. other than that, people could "joke" about grabbing the cup and they would be catching these blades.

he's a soldier with a mission. cup locked in sight, just silently stares at it until you come back. gets praised by his sister for being such a responsible friend.

actually very happy to hold it for you. might think of you as a stupid cunt if he sees you drinking embarrassing stuff but this is a very good opportunity to shut people up.

sure bestie, doesn't actually mind it. the only problem is, she also probably doesn't care if you're not very important to her. makes sure that the drink is safe from other substances but leaves it on the counter if she sees you approaching.

Oooh this is gonna be so much fun!!

#1: Pumpkin Carving

“DIE GOURD SCUM AHAHAHAHAHA!!!”

“Jinx, no! Put down the gu-…Put down Pow Pow.” Caitlyn instructed, yelling to be heard over the gunfire. As soon as she started, Jinx stopped shooting and glared over at Caitlyn.

“Well, what else am I supposed to do with it??” She asked pointedly.

“I told you, you carve it.” Caitlyn explained for what felt like the hundredth time.

“Ahh gotcha. Where’s the knife?” Jinx asked, and Caitlyn could feel her blood run cold for a moment.

“No, absolutely not. No knives.” Caitlyn quickly said, and Jinx let out a loud exaggerated groan of annoyance.

“Oh wait! I got it!” She suddenly cried, “I’ll be right back!”

“Where are you going?” Caitlyn asked wearily.

“Don’t worry about it!” Jinx called back as she ran out of the room. Caitlyn willed herself not to jump at the streaks of shimmer trailing behind the young Zaunite. A few minutes later Jinx came rushing back in with….a giant laser?!

“WHERE THE HELL DID YOU GET THAT?!” Caitlyn shouted over the roar of the laser.

“Don’t worry about it!”

“HOW ARE YOU EVEN CARRYING THAT?!”

“Shinmer!” Jinx chirped happily. When she was done, Jinx stared proudly at the monstrous looking Enforcer etched neatly into the pumpkin along with a wild monkey face.

9- Corn Maze

“So Pippin is..lost..in this thing somewhere?” Aragorn asked.

“In the corn maze, yes.” Frodo explained, “He gets lost every year.” Aragorn nodded in thought, then made his way into the maze. Plenty of hobbit children had been through the mud of the maze today, so this would prove to be a bit more difficult than hunting for a stag in the woods. Luckily, he knew Pippin’s footprints quite well by now.

“You think he’ll find him, Frodo?” Merry asked.

“It’s difficult to say. Pip is quite good at hiding in there.” Frodo replied, “Remember last year, when he jumped over the stocks? We couldn’t find him for hours.”

“I found him.” Aragorn suddenly appeared, holding Pippin like a ragdoll.

6- Boo! (For context this one includes some of my next gen ocs. In this Ronnie’s around a year old, Atlas and Orion are 3, and Jericho is 13)

Varian fought the urge to growl as he heard the door of his lab in the royal palace open.

“Hugo, I don’t have time for another project.” He snapped, “As soon as I finish this I have to get home to help decorate the house.”

However to his surprise he didn’t hear Hugo clear his throat or speak in that annoying know-it-all voice of his. Instead he heard the soft shuffling of feet, as if someone was trying to sneak up on him. Varian turned confused and saw…

“A-A SNEEZEWEASEL!!” He cried, scrambling out of his chair. But then the Sneezeweasel began to giggle. With a flash of bright blue light the Sneezeweasel disappeared to reveal his boys huddled in a cloak. Jericho snorted, while young Atlas and Orion giggled in glee, and little Oberon (or Ronnie as they called him) was squealing in Jericho’s arms.

“Boo!” Ronnie cried out happily, “Boo! Boo boo boo!”

“Looks like you learned a new word today little buddy.”

“Sorry, Daddy.” Orion giggled, “It was-“

“Jerry’s idea!” Atlas finished proudly.

“The old Cloak of Retudnus, eh? Not bad.” Varian praised, “Were you looking for this in the vault, Jer?”

“No.” Jericho said, although his tone gave him away, “I did find it though.” Varian simply nodded but smiled at his son nonetheless. Jericho was hardly interested in magic, but did use it for a prank or two sometimes.

“You boys just about ready to head home?” Varian asked as he gently took baby Ronnie in his arms. The boys all nodded in unison.

“I can’t wait to murder those fiddlesticking pumpkins.” Jericho said, grinning with almost wicked glee.

“Yay, murder!” Atlas cheered, bouncing excitedly.

“Atlas…no.” Varian barely stopped himself from laughing.

Caitlyn X Vi (What if they had met eachother when they were young)

A/N: I didn't finish arcane but one of my closest friends asked me these so, here we go. Also a little reminder that my requests are open. Check the rules here

What would had happened if Jayce bought Caitlyn with him that time were he went to The Lanes???

Ok so, Jayce wanted to make a surprise to little Caitlyn.

And because she's so curious of what The Lanes looks like he brought her with him.

In the way there he warns her about the people down there and how she needs to behave, he gave her a little weapon to defend herself because, nobody knows what could happen.

Like just imagine that some random from there kidnaps her. People from The Lanes can be very dangerous dear.

When they arrive they go to Ekko's Father's shop.

Jayce makes a silly move and let Caitlyn have a little walk (of course near the shop) just while he's there.

Little Ekko sees Caitlyn and goes to tell it to Powder (Little Jinx) and Powder tells to his big sister (Little Vi) that Ekko told her that a pretty little girl from Piltover was having a walk here, like she wasn't in no other place than The Lanes.

Vi was curious about the news so she went out to take a look, just in case these was a plan from the people from Piltover (little minds tend to go wild sometimes)

When she arrived she hides behind some pile of wood that was near the store.

She then starts looking for a little pretty girl with Piltover looks. She didn't know nothing more about her appearance.

Her eyes then rest on the most beautiful girl that Vi has ever seen in her entire live.

She just freezes in her place and her face went red like a tomato.

After 5 minutes of staring at her, Caitlyn noted that someone was spying her.

She turns her head were Vi was and she freezed too.

Oh there first love at first sight, how pure.

Caitlyn waked up from her little dream and walks to where Vi was

When the last mentioned one noticed that, she tries to hide more

-Hey!! I can still see you- Caitlyn seas

Vi goes more red if that's posible, her voice was like listening to angels

-Why were you staring at me while you're hidden. Your trying to rob me??. Just for you to know I have a weapon and I know how to use it- Caitlyn continues while her hand goes slowly were her little weapon was hide.

After a moment of silence Vi sad. -Did someone ever told you that you have the most beautiful eyes in the entire world??. Just by looking at them is like traveling to another world-

It's now Caitlyn's turn to brush -It's that the way people from here use to fool others?? Because that's not going to work with me.-

-No, no I'm saying these seriously- Vi answers while she stops from hiding herself and looks straight to Caitlyn's face.

After saying these, Jayce goes out of the store, and sees Caitlyn with Vi. He runs worriedly to Caitlyn and hide her behind her back.

-Look, if a just find out that you harmed her you will be in serious problems little girl- he seas and then catches Caitlyn hand to return home.

While these Caitlyn looks back at Vi and waves her had as a goodbye.

Vi does the same.

Who knows probably they meet up in the future, in another place.

Arcane Review

Ok I know it’s been a while since the show came out but this has been on my mind recently so I wanted to get some thoughts out.

Premise:

Arcane is a tale of two cities, but more than that it’s a tale of two sisters. Violet and Powder (later called Vi and Jinx) were orphans in one of the many civil wars between Piltover, the shining city on the hill, and Zaun, its irradiated underbelly. Both sides of the city are technological marvels in their own right. We even see innovations in this technology when Violet and Powder steal from a young Piltover man, Jace, who seeks to combine technology with magic. The ensuing devastation leads both cities as well as both sisters into a new conflict with no clear heroes.

Overview:

Arcane is a beautifully animated series based on the League of Legends video game. Don’t worry if haven’t played the games, I haven’t either. And as expansive as the world of Runeterra is, Arcane made the smart decision to go deep instead of wide. Almost all the action takes place in the split city of Piltover/Zaun and the show serves as a prequel to their conflict that happens in the games. It only ever starts to mention one other location in the latter half of the show, which we gradually learn more about through a handful of secondary characters.

There were very few times I actually felt like I had to look up background knowledge from the games to understand the show. Even then it was mostly cameo appearances or hints certain characters may not be who they seem. The vast majority of the lore is exposited through the character of Heimerdinger, a two foot tall furry immortal who helped found the city of Piltover. As strange as he is, it’s clear that Heimerdinger and his history is meant to be as distant to us as the audience he is to the other characters, making it easy for them to dismiss his council to ill effects.

Characters:

The team behind Arcane instead decided to focus on a deep character-centric story and was able to balance fleshing out many familiar faces from the games as well as adding new ones that are central to the story. The focus characters are of course Vi and League of Legend’s flagship character, Jinx. Despite their popularity, their in-game lore was largely left open to interpretation. The fact that they’re sisters was only speculation before Arcane came out. Both also underwent overhauls to their designs and story.

Jinx has been the go-to mascot of League of Legends since her creation in 2013. In that time she had largely been a one-note manic pixie nightmare girl who takes Harley Quinn-esque glee from her explosions and the other pranks we see her play around Piltover. Her official bio hints at some dark tragedy in her past that drove her mad, it’s not until Arcane that we see her mental illness treated with respect and tgravity, especially as we learn what the tragedy was that caused it. Yes she still does grow up to be the manic explosives expert we see in the games, but there’s a lot more beneath that which she tries to hide. To see the difference in her character look no further than the 2013 Music video “Get Jinxed” and compare it to the promo-video put up just before the release of Arcane, “Enemy” which features Imagine Dragons.

Obviously not every character from the games can make it in the show, even those native to Piltover/ Zaun. However almost every character who does make it in are amazing in their own right and I can’t go into them all. Vi is one of the simplest as the archetypal big sister who retains her “punch first, ask questions later attitude” from the games, but now must balance that out as she’s put into a buddy-cop romance with the well-born enforcer, Caitlyn. The scientists that the sisters stole from, Jace and Victor, mirror much of Vi’s and Jinx’s relationship as the application of their technology and Jace’s new-found fame also push them apart. The show also features several new characters such as Vander, Silco, and Mel; all of whom give us more insight into the political turmoil that dual city is in, while protecting their own more personal interests.

A few minor characters do stand out as weaknesses in the writing though only by comparison to how well-developed the other characters get. Another fan-favorite from the games, Ekko, gets very little exploration despite one of the best fight scenes in the show. There is also one clear incident of fridgeing in this show, which is a low point in otherwise seamless writing. A good number of mysteries are left unanswered and which I hope to see better down in season two.

Art and Music

The French studio, Fortiche, did an amazing job with this series. The stylized 3D animation blends quite well with the the limited 2D animation used for the many explosions and other effects, helping to give the series that comic book/ video game look. Piltover and Zaun and very visually distinctive with the former being bathed in sunlight in almost all the shots and covered in gold and royal blue. Zaun by contrast gets almost no natural light, so it is instead bathed in the artificial green or bisexual lighting that helps display the irradiated nature as well as contribute to the feeling of a shunned society looking up to heaven.

Bisexual lighting is hugely important as it also matches the cotton-candy blue and pink hair colors of Vi and Jinx. Most notably, the main two novums of this world are also colored blue and pink. By the end of the series the pink-haired Vi relies on hex-tech power sources made in Piltover which are colored blue. Meanwhile the blue haired Jinx gets deeper and deeper invested in the Zaunite drug, Shimmer, which is colored pink.

I’ve already pointed out the fantastic music video prepared by Imagine Dragons, but sound track has plenty of other bops as well. “Playground” is great backdrop to our introduction to Zaun that makes us see the protagonists’ love for it despite all it’s flaws. “Snake” is a wicked action scene that furthers the since of paranoia and betrayal central to the series, and “Misfit Toys” is a departure that nonetheless reinforces the alternate views and the plurality of the series.

Final thoughts:

Watch this show. I don’t care what you think of League of Legend or arcano-punk settings. It’s a unique and visibly distinct world with very real characters leading it. The art is beautiful and the team did an amazing job balancing the huge cast into a comprehensive and satisfying character work even if it does leave a lot unanswered. Just be prepared for the darker tone and reinterpretation of traditionally more light hearted characters. There’s a lot of places season two can go, whether if it’s continuing the Piltover Zaun conflict or bringing in the Noxus setting we learned about near the end of last season. There’s so many more stories to tell.

Also me and an Arcane buddy were talking about the parallels between Dr. Brenner and Silco (the parallels between El and Jinx being obvious): the weird pseudo father figure who treats his daughter like his most cherished project, how they both can be deeply toxic and manipulative for their own gain, how underneath that there is some level of care but my god 0 star parenting going on, how they both have these big outlandish dreams. Silco for the nation of Zaun, Brenner for his projects and using El as a weapon. Naturally, the DILF factor lmao
