I got my first tattoo today. I haven’t really gushed about the meaning of it yet, but figured I could here. I’ve hit a lot of low points recently and they just don’t seem to stop coming. There are so many days where I just want to lay in bed and wallow in self pity, but I keep hearing that last lyric of Foundations. There’s something absolutely therapeutic about hearing them tell me to get up. To not stay down. To not be a coward. To have the courage to try again.
Additionally, it is beyond inspiring to see the members of MCR do the same. To see them celebrate their sobrieties, to dress in ways that make them happy, and to just have fun and take care of themselves and their fans. It’s truly amazing. My Chem has saved me more times than I can count, and this tattoo is a permanent reminder that if they can do it, I can do it.
Nobody on this earth will ever understand how I felt hearing that lyric for the first time, sitting there with my first tattoo seven months fresh, bright on my forearm…
When I was 13 this band helped me begin processing and understanding my sexuality, gender, and androgyny. 10 years later and every day they help me celebrate my queerness, more than I ever expected to be possible.
I forgor to snag a picture while at the shop, but luckily my client was able to send them over! MCR Coffin for Savvy the other day- thanks for letting me poke ur skin! ✨✨
