Got bored at the dentist and tried my hand at translating the first stanza of My Mother Told Me into Old English.

I mostly used the original Old Norse version as reference, using cognates where I could:

Þæt* mælde min modor þæt ic sceal me ceapian scip ond fægera āra, faran mid þæm wīcingum.

(Thus spoke my mother that I should buy myself a ship and fair oars and sail away with the vikings)

*maybe Þus would work better

I've only started learning Old English a short while ago, so if you find any mistakes or have any feedback, it would be greatly appreciated!
