I was thinking you could do a “5 times y/n told Harry she was pregnant” for the young!dad series !! That would be so interesting especially since in the last piece you mentioned that Harry already had a feeling she was pregnant before she even told him
The Thing About Having Six Kids
Tumblr media
so i got this ask and a couple others that were kind of about the kids' birth/pregnancy a while ago, and went with five different instances about each kid in the youngdadrry universe. it's all surrounding their birth, finding out about pregnancies, etc. enjoy!
Young Dad! Harry x Young Mom! Reader
Simone
(a text conversation between Harry and Y/n)
Y/n: i'm pregnant
(one day later)
Y/n: Harry?
Harry: Are you sure?
Y/n: i'm sure
Y/n: i have four different pregnancy tests to prove it
Harry: I don't know what to say.
Y/n: the 24 hours it took you to respond kind of told me that
Harry: I'm sorry about that. It's just...a lot
Y/n: it's fine i guess. at least you finally responded.
Harry: Did you think I wouldn't?
Y/n: honestly? yeah. it's not like we're married or in love or anything. you don't even live in the same country as me
Harry: What are you going to do?
Harry: I know but I wouldn't just like disappear on you
Harry: I was just shocked that's all
Y/n: idk. i'm still trying to figure out a way to tell my parents
Harry: Shit my parents!
Y/n: that's kinda where i'm at right now
Y/n: but i think i want to keep it
Y/n: the baby
Y/n: fuck that sounds crazy to say. i have physics homework due tomorrow but let me stop and make a life altering decision really quick about whether i want to have a baby or not
Harry: I'm sorry. You know...
Y/n: for getting me pregnant? knocking me up? putting a bun in the oven?
Harry: It seems too early to joke about this
Y/n: it's keeping me from freaking the fuck out at the moment
(ten minutes later)
Harry: I want to talk about this properly and figure this whole thing out but I have to go
Y/n: please don't feel obligated or anything. this was just a courtesy
Y/n: i don't expect anything from you. i get it if your management wants you to delete my number and never see me again. i just thought you should know.
Harry: What are you talking about?
Harry: Y/n?
3 missed calls from Him <3
Collette
"Let's have another baby."
Y/n was close to nodding off, so it was very possible that she was dreaming. She looked behind her. It was dark in the bedroom, but Harry was close enough that she could see him, could see that his head was propped on his elbow so he could look down at her.
"What did you say?" she asked, because she needed to be sure.
"I...I want another baby," he said, voice soft even though they were the only two people in the room. Simone was fast asleep in her own bedroom, tuckered out after a long day of playing at the park and eating ice cream and fingerpainting with Harry. Now that One Direction was officially on hiatus, it was just the three of them—Y/n, Harry, and Simone. Y/n thought it would take some getting used to, living a relatively normal life. But their little family actually fell into it quite easily.
Perhaps a little too easily.
"Say something."
Y/n hadn't realized she failed to respond, but to be fair, that was a pretty big bomb her husband just dropped. Her husband. They'd been married for a few months now, but it still felt surreal, which was probably why the idea of having another baby felt too far from reality to comprehend.
"I just...I don't know what to say," Y/n said honestly. "I—I'm not sure we're ready for that."
"We weren't ready the first time," Harry said when Y/n finally flipped on her other side to face him. This seemed like a conversation he really wanted to have, so she thought facing him would probably be best. "I just think this might be the time, you know? I don't have an insane schedule anymore, there's no more management to say that we can't, and I've always thought about giving Simone a sibling. Don't tell me you've never thought about it."
"I...I have," Y/n said.
She did think about more kids. As young as she and Harry were and as impossible as their relationship seemed at times, Y/n couldn't help but think about wanting more. She loved Harry, and she'd been loving these moments they'd been able to share as a proper family recently. Harry was right, if they wanted to have another baby, now would be the time.
"Tell me what you're thinking," he said as she felt more than saw his hand push some hair away from her face.
"What happens when you start working again?" Y/n asked.
"What do you mean?"
"I know you, H," she said. "And I love you. Everything about you. And one of the parts that make you who you are is the music. This...this little bubble we're in, I love it too, but I know you'll want to go back to it someday. And then you'll go on tour for ten months, and I'll be alone to raise two kids by myself for a majority of the year."
It was harsh, but she trusted him enough to take it. This was the thought that always held her back. Y/n thought about the possibility of expanding their family on more than one occasion, especially in recent weeks when things have been practically perfect. But the reality was that Harry would want to go back to work. She knew, maybe better than anyone, the desire he had to make his own music, to create and write in ways he couldn't while in the band. And perform. Harry loved to perform live. Y/n knew that this time spent with just their family was fleeting, and she cherished every minute of it, the same way she knew Harry did. It was only a matter of time before he went back to work, and she wasn't sure she could raise Simone and a newborn without him.
"That's...That's all over now," Harry said. When Y/n tried to protest, he continued on. "What I meant to say was, the ridiculous schedules, the strict rules about when we can and can't spend time together, the separate hotel rooms. Mama, things can be different now."
"But management—"
"I bought out my contract," he said. "I haven't really given it much thought in a while because I just want to be present with you and Simone, but I've got a few people in mind for new managers. People who will prioritize our family."
This was certainly news to Y/n. It was hard to talk about Harry's management or the harsh thumb they pinned him under, so oftentimes it was a topic they avoided. Hearing him say this now, knowing how much money it would've taken to buy out his contract...that was a huge deal. As far as she knew, the other boys were just sticking with it until the contracts were finished. But Harry went and did what Y/n didn't even think was possible.
"Our family," Y/n repeated, and for a moment, she could see it. The three of them becoming four. It was crazy to think about, to think so far ahead into the future, but Y/n wasn't scared by it.
"Let's have another baby," Harry said again.
Looking at him, Y/n's heart squeezed in her chest. He'd been growing his hair out for a while now, and it was long enough that it reached just passed his shoulders. She loved it, thought it made him look older, more mature. And okay, hot. And Simone loved it too. She loved braiding it and putting bows and flowers in it or just twisting it around her finger. His shoulders were broad and lean, though he'd put on a little muscle in his arms from doing handiwork around the house, something he claimed he loved to do even though Y/n had heard him curse from another room while he worked on his latest project.
She looked at his face, the one that looked so different yet so similar to the one she'd met when she was seventeen. She wondered what those teenagers would think of the people they'd become, of the things they'd seen and experienced.
She thought about it. The baby-to-be. It would have Harry's eyes and smile, her nose and hair color. If it was a girl, she could wear matching outfits with Simone, if it was a boy...Well, they could maybe still match. Y/n thought about all the baby clothes—the adorable little onesies and shoes and mittens to keep the baby from scratching their face while they slept. She didn't let herself think of the late nights and sore boobs and dirty diapers. In this moment, she just thought about all the good feelings, every perfect moment that could be.
"You promise things will be different? I can't—I can't do it alone," she said, needing to hear him say it again.
Harry didn't try to kiss her, he didn't put his hands on her waist or pull her to his chest—all tactics he would normally use to distract her. This conversation was too serious, too important, and she loved him all the more for understanding that.
"I promise, Y/n," he said, taking her hand in his and squeezing it. "I will never make you regret living this life with me."
"That's not what I—"
"I know, but I just...I needed to say it."
He needed to make that promise to her, to himself. Life had not been easy, and Y/n knew Harry blamed himself for a lot of the hardships they faced.
"I don't," she said, kissing their joined hands. "And I won't. Ever. "
Harry grinned, and Y/n could tell even in the dark that his gaze was a little watery. Still, he inched forward and said, "So...?"
Y/n leaned forward and kissed him, her leg slotting between his. "Let's have another baby."
Maeve and Jules
"I'm sorry, did you just say twins?"
"I did. I'm seeing two heartbeats here. See?" The doctor said, pointing at the monitor she'd been observing closely the last five minutes.
Y/n couldn't quite believe what she was hearing. It was one thing to be pregnant (again), but an entirely different one to be pregnant with twins. "That's—"
"Amazing," Harry breathed.
Y/n turned her head away from the monitor to look at her husband, whose eyes were glued to the screen with a look of wonder in them. As she'd begun to process her own feelings about housing not one but two babies in her belly for nine months, she hadn't really considered how he might feel about it.
Looking at him now, she could tell he was ecstatic.
Y/n was still panicking a little, but seeing the elation on Harry's face was comforting. She took his hand in hers and squeezed it hard, needing to feel the warmth of his palm to ground her.
"Hey," he said softly, bending down to kiss the top of her head. "This is a good thing. Unexpected, but good."
"I know," Y/n said, letting out a shaky breath. "I know it's just...a lot. I mean...twins?"
"Nothing we can't handle," Harry said, kissing her cheek.
His confidence was reassuring. Maybe he was freaking out on the inside and not letting it show for her sake, but Y/n felt better about the situation at hand and was ready to continue with the appointment.
To the doctor, she said, "Are they healthy?"
The doctor smiled warmly. "They are. It looks like one of them is about a week behind, but that's nothing to worry about."
"Really? They're twins. That doesn't seem possible," Harry said, his brow furrowing adorably.
"It's rare, but it is possible. Fraternal twins can be conceived as much as twenty-four days apart," the doctor said.
Y/n understood perhaps a split-second before Harry, but when he did, he turned as beet red as she felt. The doctor didn't seem to mind their embarrassment, though she'd probably seen all sorts of couples and situations. Y/n imagined there wasn't much that the doctor hadn't seen before.
The appointment wrapped up pretty quickly after that. Harry snuck out of the hospital through a separate door while Y/n set up her next appointment. She met him in the staff parking lot, where he was standing by the passenger door to help her in. Harry gave her a quick kiss before closing her in and walking around to the driver's side. As he drove, Y/n was thinking about a number of things—twice the amount of clothes, twice the amount of crying, twice the amount of diaper changes. She was excited at the prospect of having a baby. It was a conversation she and Harry had before they started trying, but the idea of twins was a lot to wrap her head around.
She looked at Harry, wanting to ask how he felt now that they were alone, but she stopped herself.
Harry had one hand on the steering wheel, the other covering a wide grin. He was blushing a little too, and Y/n couldn't help but ask what had him smiling like an idiot.
"I'm trying to figure out which times," he said.
"What do you mean which—Are you kidding? Which times we conceived the twins?"
"Aren't you curious?" Harry asked. "Twice, babe. I put a baby in you twice. I mean, one of them had to be when we were on the yacht, right? I always feel good after we have sex, but I feel like we really outdid ourselves there. Clearly."
Y/n just looked at her husband in shock. "You are..."
"What? It's cool!" Harry insisted, but he was laughing too. "And it takes the edge off a little. Come on, you try."
So he was more nervous than he was letting on. That was comforting in its own way too, but Y/n appreciated his attempts to lighten the mood. They could have a serious conversation later, but for now it was fun to just forget all of that. Just for a moment.
Y/n gave him a dry look, trying to appear like she wasn't impressed until she eventually rolled her eyes and smiled. "Mm...I agree with the yacht, and...when you came back from London."
"Really?" Harry asked, more curious than surprised.
"Yeah," Y/n said with a little sigh as she remembered the night in question. "That was a good night."
It was one of those rare occurrences where Simone was in her own bed and Collette managed to sleep for more than a couple hours. They'd spent the whole night catching up and giggling like idiots and kissing and enjoying the pleasure of being truly alone with each other. Y/n loved those moments with Harry, where everything was just so simple and easy and it was just them having a little fun. They definitely should've been catching up on sleep while they could, but neither of them wanted to, so they stayed up with tired smiles and slurred movements until they heard Collette's cries through the baby monitor.
"It was. We should do that again sometime," Harry said. Taking Y/n's hand, he kissed the tops of her knuckles.
"You just want to go for triplets," Y/n teased, even though she knew that wasn't what he meant.
"I'm not that crazy," he said, but his smile told her he was thinking about the possibility. Maybe just a little. "I'm excited for this."
"Yeah? What do you think? Boys? Girls? A boy and a girl?"
Harry shrugged. "Our track record would suggest girls, but..."
"You never know," Y/n finished for him.
Geneva
"We have some pretty big news to share."
Once a month, the Styles family held a Zoom call with their friends and family who were scattered across the globe. Since lockdown began, there was a lot of adjusting—online school, not being able to go to the park to play, being at home all day. It was a lot for everyone, but Harry and Y/n did their best to make the adjustments smoother. And when they needed a break, they set up the monthly Zoom calls.
They were mostly just to catch up. Once all the children went to sleep, Harry and Y/n stayed up late talking to other adults about everything and nothing, maybe even played a different drinking game or two to round out the night before they went back to being parents. Tonight was a special night, though.
Multiple faces looked at Harry and Y/n expectantly through their computer screen. Both of them were sporting big smiles as Y/n leaned on Harry's side, one of his older sweatshirts covering her body and the almost imperceptible bump that was beginning to show now. Today was the first day she'd begun to show, and Harry nearly lost his mind with excitement. Finding out Y/n was pregnant had been somewhat of a surprise, but when she told him, he was over the moon. He's started to suspect, having recognized some of his wife's symptoms by now, but they'd been waiting for the right time to tell their families and friends, and tonight was the night.
"What's going on, darling?" Anne asked.
Neither Harry nor Y/n could barely contain their excitement, which probably gave away the news before they actually said anything. However, in their own eagerness to share the news, neither of them saw a few people on the call sporting knowing looks.
"We're having a baby!"
Cheers went all around as everyone congratulated the couple. Questions were asked about due dates and how far along they were and what they were going to do about the lockdown situation. Everything was just as Harry had hoped it would be.
And then things took an interesting turn.
"Who won?" Jeff asked.
"Won? What do you mean—"
"If my math is correct, which I'm pretty sure it is, I believe it goes to Gem," Sarah said, looking down at her phone. "She went with three and a half months. Glenne narrowly missed with three. No one had four so it goes to Gemma."
A collective groan went throughout the Zoom, leaving Harry and Y/n very confused.
"Did you place bets on us?" Y/n asked, sounding more astonished than offended.
"When lockdown became permanent, we knew it was a matter of when not if we would be getting the announcement," Jeff explained. "Someone has a physical copy of the pool somewhere."
"And all of you did this? Mum?" Harry said, brows raised higher than Y/n had ever seen them. When Anne nodded sheepishly, Y/n had to stifle a laugh. "So none of you were surprised?"
"I love you, dear, and I'm so so happy for you, but since you were seventeen, anytime you've come to me with big news, it's been about having a baby. For my own sanity, I've just come to expect it."
Harry looked down at Y/n, who was grinning behind her hand. For her husband's sake, her gaze softened as she reached up to kiss his cheek. "I mean, they have a point. Even you guessed it before I told you."
As the shock finally wore off, Harry smiled. He supposed it wasn't the worst thing in the world. So, he and Y/n were predictable, even though they hadn't really been trying this time around. They were in love and had a lot more time together currently. Things were finally back on track for them and their relationship troubles seemed behind them now. They were happy, and as long as his family was happy, some light teasing and bet placing seemed harmless.
He did pin everyone on the screen with a mock glare before moving on, though. "You guys made a whole pool. Really?"
"Yeah. Can you believe Jeff thought it would take eight months for you to get pregnant?"
"It was for the adjustment to lockdown period!"
"Eight months?"
And on and on it went. Harry just smiled and rested his hand over Y/n's belly, thinking about how much it would grow in just a few short weeks.
Natalia
"I want Mommy!"
Harry sighed and pulled his only son into his lap, pushing the curls away from his face and wiping the tears from his cheeks. "I know you do, JuJu."
Harry and the kids were waiting to hear from Y/n's mother, but he hadn't gotten so much as a text. He was anxious, worried that something was wrong, but Julian's crying served as a good distraction for the time being.
Julian continued to cry, still not understanding why he couldn't see his mother when he'd become so used to seeing her everyday. Harry would've been with Y/n had it not been for the little boy's crying, and he made the split-second decision to stay home while Y/n delivered the baby with her mother as support. He'd never missed any of his children's births, but for this, he could stay behind.
"She'll be back soon, bubba, I promise," Harry said, kissing Julian's cheeks and holding him close. "Should we go play with your Lego set? I know you've been excited to build it. Maybe we can build something to show Mummy when she gets home."
Julian shook his head and continued to cry into Harry's neck. Realizing his son was content to be miserable, Harry didn't ask again. He sat with Jules for a while, holding the boy to his chest and running a hand through his hair until his sobs turned into sniffles, and the sniffles into long, slow breaths. He waited a few extra minutes before taking Julian up to his room and setting him on his bed, making sure to place his favorite stuffed animal in his arms before leaving him to sleep off his troubles. As he walked away, Harry sort of wished he could do the same.
Every birth had been different. When Y/n had Simone, it hadn't been extraordinarily long, but it was extraordinarily stressful due to their young age. Collette was a fairly quick birth, perhaps a little too quick, seeing as Y/n barely made it to a hospital bed before the baby started crowning. The twins came early, which was apparently common for twins, but that didn't make it any less surprising to Harry and Y/n, especially because Harry was at the grocery store and Y/n was at the park with Simone and Collette and a nanny who was also there had to call an ambulance. Even still, Geneva's birth was probably the scariest, only because of all the rules and regulations brought on by Covid. Y/n's mother quarantined for two weeks so she could stay at the house while Harry and Y/n went to the hospital, as Y/n could only have one person in the room with her.
And now a year later, they were doing it all over again. Harry had been confident that this birth would go off without a hitch, that everything would be just fine, but the lack of word from his wife or mother-in-law made him nervous.
Later that day, Harry was still waiting. He'd gotten a text from Y/n's mother, which let him know that Y/n still wasn't ready to push but that they were getting close. That was an hour ago, and Harry had to believe that it was all happening now.
And he was missing it.
He knew being here with the rest of his children was important. That they were worried about their mother and probably found Harry's presence comforting. He just wished they could all be there in the waiting room instead of at home and fifteen minutes from the hospital. The not-knowing was killing him, and he was pretty sure his kids could sense it.
"Daddy?"
Harry's eyes flicked to where Collette was standing in the doorway of his bedroom. She was in her pajamas, a shirt and matching pair of bottoms with her favorite cartoon on them. Harry had been pacing around his room, his phone gripped tightly in his hand as he waited for someone to call him, but seeing his second daughter standing there, squinting at the light from his bedside table lamp told him he was up a little later than normal.
"Hi, peanut. What are you doing out of bed?" he asked.
Collette shrugged, her hair catching the light. She wiped at her nose and stepped further into the room until she stood in front of him. "Mommy always braids my hair before I go to sleep."
"She does, doesn't she?" Harry agreed. "She's kind of the best, huh?"
Nodding, Collette turned toward his bed and climbed up on it, looking at him expectantly. Even after having four daughters, Harry wasn't an expert at braiding hair. The girls always went to Y/n before school, and she did each of their braids or ponytails or pigtails happily. Harry always made sure to watch with a keen eye, and practiced on Y/n when she let him. He supposed now it was time to put all his practice to work.
The braiding didn't take long, and Harry didn't do half bad, in his humble opinion. Collette was just going to sleep in it anyway, so he wasn't too bummed by the few loose strands that he'd somehow missed.
He'd finished rather quickly, though Collette didn't slide off the bed to go back to her room. In fact, she nestled under the covers on Y/n's side of the bed, mumbling, "Night Daddy," before falling asleep. Harry didn't really mind. It wasn't the first time one of the kids stayed in his and Y/n's bed, and tonight, he figured he could use some company.
What he wasn't expecting was all of his children to stumble into his room. First it was Maeve, then Jules, then Simone, and finally Harry went to get Geneva, just so it was a proper sleepover. No one fought for space—which was a first. All the kids just found their spot and went back to sleep as if they were in their own rooms. Harry resisted the urge to take a picture so as not to wake anyone up with the flash of his phone's camera.
He hadn't planned on falling asleep. One moment he'd been watching a football game with the volume off, and the next he was blinking his eyes open as the sun began to stream in through the curtains. All of his little ones were still fast asleep, though Harry knew that would change soon. Maeve and Simone woke up early to watch morning cartoons, and Geneva would want her bottle within the hour.
Harry began to shuffle around and prepare for the usual morning routine—brush teeth, ok prepare the bottle, make breakfast for the early risers—when his phone rang. Startled, Harry rushed over to where his phone was plugged in, a huge grin splitting his face when he realized it was a video call from Y/n.
"Hi," Harry whispered, careful not to wake anyone up. "How are you? How's the baby? Is everything—"
"I'm fine, H. Everything's fine. Everything's perfect," Y/n said, a sleepy smile on her face.
Hearing that helped his heart stop racing, but only a little, as excitement flooded his veins. Y/n called him, which could only mean that—
"Wanna meet your daughter?" Y/n said, and even through the phone, Harry could see tears line her eyes.
Harry nodded, too overwhelmed with love and anticipation to form words. Quickly, he found an unoccupied spot on his bed and carefully sat down.
Y/n passed the phone to her mother who angled the phone so that Harry could see the baby, whose face was just barely visible through a pink blanket. He immediately felt tears well in his eyes, his throat going dry as he looked down at his daughter. Even through the phone, he felt every emotion he'd ever experienced when meeting his children for the first time. It was the most unique experience, Harry always thought. He'd seen and done so much, yet he still thought there was nothing like looking down at his newborn baby for the first time.
"Is that baby sister?"
Harry looked behind him to find Julian peering over his shoulder. Jules looked at the sleeping baby curiously, taking in his sister's little nose and tiny fingers and pouted lips. Then, he said, "Is Mommy there too?"
The camera panned up to Y/n, who was smiling and blowing kisses to Julian. "Hi JuJu, my love. I've missed you!"
"Mommy!"
"Mommy?"
"Mommy's home?"
Now everyone was up and crowding around Harry, taking turns talking to Y/n and baby sister, who had yet to be given a name. No one seemed to mind, though. If anything, they were more concerned about when Y/n and the baby would be coming home so they could have a party.
"Soon, my loves. The doctor wants me and the baby to stay one more night to make sure we're healthy. You think you can be good for Daddy?"
There was a chorus of yeses before everyone said their goodbyes, the novelty of a new baby sister wearing off when there were cartoons to be watched downstairs. Harry kept Y/n on the phone while he got Geneva's bottle ready, wanting to stay on the phone as long as possible.
"I know you must be tired," Harry said an hour later. He was in GiGi's nursery and watching her toddle around and play with her toys while talking to his wife.
"I'll hang up soon. I want you to get as much screen time as possible before I go," she said, turning the camera to where the baby was sleeping in the bassinet beside her hospital bed.
"Have you given her a name yet?" he asked.
Y/n shook her head. "I know we decided on one, but I wanted you to be with me when I said it for the first time."
"I love you," Harry said as his heart melted to mush.
"I love you too," Y/n said. She lifted the baby out of the bassinet, cradling her head with the expertise of someone who'd done it for years. Looking at Harry through the phone she said, "You wanna do the honors?"
Laughing out of pure bliss, he nodded. With all the tenderness and care he would've used if he'd been there in person, he said, "Welcome to this crazy, crazy world, Natalia Styles."

You loved date night; it was every Saturday of the week and the pair of you rarely missed it. Of course, deployments were a different story, but anytime that Jake was stationed at home date night was Saturday. It didn’t matter if you stayed in and watch movies or went out to eat, Jake always managed to make it feel special.
One of your favorite things you loved about Jake was how special he made you feel. It didn’t matter that you had been together 8 years and married 5, Jacob Seresin knew how to make your stomach fill with butterflies. Just as they were now.
Jake had only texted you a couple hours ago, Bradley and he were getting together a new teaching plan this afternoon, but he told you to dress up and be ready to go by 5:30. A simple black silk dress covered your form, while your feet were clad in black heels and a leather jacket laid across your shoulders.
You hear a knock at the front door as you slip into your right heel, and a small smile crosses your face. Jake was never one to shy away from theatrics and date night was always one, he made a habit of picking you up as if the house wasn’t his own and as if it was your first date. Your heels clatter against the tile of the kitchen and down the hall, as you fasten your earring.
You tug on the door and come face to face with your handsome husband. A bright smile rests on his lips and butterflies spin in your stomach knowing that no one else ever got that look.
“You look beautiful, darlin’.”
You blush at the compliment and the way Jake’s eyes trace up and down your form. A small thank you falls from your lips, and his smile only grows as he pulls a bouquet of roses from behind his back.
Jake knew how much you loved roses; they reminded you of your late grandmother. You would stay with her whenever your father was deployed growing up and the small beach cottage had rows of rose bushes lining the front lawn. They were her pride and joy, winning multiple best garden awards through the years.
You take the roses from Jake, though before you can pull away to find a vase, a kiss is stolen. It only lasts for a moment and as Jake pulls away you can’t help but chase his lips, you had missed him all day and the taste of peppermint gum on his lips feels like home.
A small huff falls from your lips as Jake pulls away from you completely, and a cheeky smirk finds home on his lips.
“I’m going to find a vase, then I’ll be ready, baby.”
You turn before he can answer, but the smack against your rear, has you jumping and releasing a squeal. His laugh echoes through the house and even though you think you love Jake more than you ever could, he proves you wrong yet again.
You arrange the flowers in a glass vase on the dining room table and you quickly shut off the surrounding lights before meeting Jake back at the door. After locking the door, you turn to find Jake down on the sidewalk and a sigh leaves your lips.
“Honey, I’m in a dress.”
“That’s never stopped you before.”
The line is followed by a wink, and though you try and look peeved, the smile that tugs on your lips give you away. You had always loved to ride on Jake’s bike, it was what he picked you up with for your “first” official date and it had become a staple in your relationship. The 1950 BMW R25 was Jake’s baby, his father had bought it for him in high school and together they fully restored the bike to its original glory.
“You would have me throw my leg over and ride, with my dress bunched around my waist?” You finish the last words, and your eyes fall shut in the realization of what you just said. A gentle hand settles on your cheek and when you open your eyes, Jake looks more than pleased with your word choice.
“It’s not much different, then what you do every night darlin’.”
Your lips twist as you try to hide your smile and the wink he gives you has your thighs clenching together in need. Jake releases a sharp chuckle, before situating your helmet easily over your head. He’s cautious of your hair and your earrings then fixes the strap, before giving your nose a small kiss.
...
There’s a small skip in your step as your hand rests in Jake’s and the pair of you leave the restaurant. The two-and-a-half glasses of white wine, make you feel light and release all of the stress from the work week. You glance back at Jake and the heart-stopping smile he gives you makes your stomach roll.
“Every time you give me that smile, it’s like I’m falling in love all over again.”
Your voice is weightless and airy, though the words hold the weight of the world, and you hope your eyes convey words that can’t be said. Sometimes there just weren’t enough words or good enough words to convey how hopelessly in love you were with Jake Seresin.
The small tug at your hand has you stumbling back into Jake’s chest with a giggle, as both of his hands wrap around you, to encase you in your own little world with just the two of you.
“How did I ever get so lucky?” The barely there brush of his lips against your own has your toes curling. “I love you darlin’. My best girl.”
The words are muttered against your lips, and you silently know in that moment, that if it was only ever just you and Jake, it would be okay. Together you would always be enough, more than enough. Together you were infinite.
Your nose gently nudges against his and with a small look into his emerald eyes you’re sure that you fall all over again. Though before your emotions can go any farther into the depths of your heart, your soul that only Jake has seen, you pull away and tug him along the sidewalk with you.
“Come on lover boy, we’ve got one last stop before going home.”
...
Your heel click against the linoleum and your hand's grasp at Jake’s while your other wraps around his bicep. You hide your laughter in the side of his neck and Jake can barely stop his own laughter, as the Target employees look at the pair of you in bewilderment.
Not only was the store closing in the next 15 minutes, but your date attire was far from casual. Your eyes flitter around the front of the store to give the watching associates an easy smile, though the sight of one elderly man glaring at the pair of you has your laughter breaking from your chest once again. Your hand clutches tighter around Jake’s, pulling him to follow you away from the watching eyes.
“Come on, I just need to get a few things.”
You quickly led Jake to the children’s section, having mapped out the whole section in Target before, on one of your previous excursions for items for the twins. Your eyes filter through the racks in search of the light, but still warm enough, coats that you had seen the last time you were shopping. You pause at the boy's clothing as your heel taps impatiently, at the lack of coats and you silently curse yourself for not buying them when they were first released.
“Darlin’ what are we looking for? Two sets of eyes are better than one.”
You hum as your eyes trace through the boy’s section once again, before telling Jake about the jackets that you had seen in store just last week.
“They both need one, Gray was shivering to death the other day.” Your eyes leave Jake, and a slight huff leaves your body. “I should have got them when I first saw them, they’re probably all sold out now.”
The tug at your hand has you looking back to Jake, who gives you an easy smile before glancing at his watch. “We’ve got ten minutes before they kick us out, you look here for Gray, and I will go find one for little miss.”
A soft sigh leaves you before Jake is pulling you in for a kiss and then heading to the little girl’s section. A smile graces your lips as you watch Jake make his way to the rows of pink and frill. Though you want to silently watch the 6-foot-something man hold up different shirts and rainbow-colored clothing, you can’t. Your eyes reluctantly leave your husband's form and fall back on the mass of little boy clothing.
...
A resounding victory “aha” falls from your lips, as you find the last jacket tucked under an unrelated set of clothing on the bottom shelf. Your knees ache as they rest against the cold floor, you had leaned down in a last stitched effort to find a jacket in Gray’s size. The light grey jacket is the last of its kind as you flip the tag over, just to double-check that it would indeed fit the munchkin.
You do a small victory dance in relief, only looking up for Jake as his shoes come into view right in front of you.  Your eyes follow up the dark denim of his jeans only to be met with an array of different little girl clothing in his hands. Before you can even question him, Jake is triumphantly showing you the light pink jacket that matches the one in your hands.
A massive smile graces your husband’s lips as he reaches out to help you up before he smooths out the side of your dress that had ridden up during the impromptu scavenger hunt.
“So, I found a jacket, but then I saw these, and I couldn’t leave without them.”
Jake holds up to matching shirts, and the outline of an old p-40 sits in the middle with the words, “Loved on the land, sea, and in the skies” written below the plane. A smile graces your lips before it quickly falls. You couldn’t get the twins these, they weren’t your kids, and stating words like loved felt like the makings of a nasty heartbreak.
“Baby, they’re not ours.” Your eyes can’t meet Jake’s, “We can’t make statements like that.”
You get a scoff in reply from Jake before he takes the jacket from your hands and throws all four clothing items into the basket he carries.
“Those kids deserve and need to hear that someone loves them. It doesn’t matter if they know who got them the shirts, they are going to know that someone loves them.” The words aren’t harsh, but the serious tone that incases them isn’t lost upon you and you can only nod in reply. Your heart aches in admiration of the man in front of you and as he tugs your hand gently toward the checkout, you lift your joined hands to place a firm kiss on the back of Jakes.
The overhead speakers echo that the store is now closed and that any shoppers need to immediately make their way to the checkouts to finalize their purchases. Though the words fall to deaf ears, as your mind swirls in false realities. One where the twins heard that they were loved daily and that the quote on the shirts couldn’t have been truer. That no matter if the four of you were home together or separated when Jake was at sea and in the sky, they were always loved. A type of love that lasted for the ages and couldn’t be stopped, even with a couple thousand miles separating you.
...
You run the damp towel once more through your hair, before hanging it to dry. You catch sight of Jake already laying in bed under the covers; a book rests in his hands and his glasses slightly slide down the bridge of his nose.
You slip into the ragged oversized shirt, the shirt one that your father had gotten you in high school. The navy logo is fading against the grey material and the seems are slightly frayed, but you couldn’t give it up. You catch sight of Jake rubbing his temples as you brush your teeth and reach into the cabinet for his migraine medication.
You had known at the first sight of Jake in glasses that he had an impending migraine. He only ever wore them when his head got bad, but you also knew that he was horrible at taking medication, even when he was in pain.
Your feet gently pad across the carpeted floor of your bedroom, before you end up at the side of your husband and rack a hand softly through the dirty blonde locks. A small hum echoes through the bedroom before his eyes fall on your form.
“How bad is it?” Your fingers continue running across his scalp and he nuzzles even farther into your open palm.
“Not the best, not the worst.” His own hand reaches out to take the small white pill from you, before grasping the water on the bedside table. “You’re the best, you know that?”
A hum in agreement now falls from your lips, as Jake grasps onto your hips and pulls you across his lap. The book is long forgotten on your side of the bed. Your hand slips from Jake’s hair to take the strewn glasses from his face and set them on the bedside table for safekeeping.
Jake’s hands remain at your hips and grip onto the flesh under your shirt, before pulling you forward for his head to rest against your chest. His shoulders are tense as you rub at the back of his neck, though they fall as a deep sigh leaves his chest.
“Mav texted me while you were in the shower,” He pauses, though you only hum in acknowledgment for him to continue. “Your mother decided to give Penny a call since we all have been avoiding her.”
This time it’s your turn for your shoulders to tense up and your breath to hitch in anxiety. You knew that she was calling about other options with your IVF after your father, thankfully, broke the results of the last round to her a month ago. You and Jake hadn’t really talked about the next step though, the both of you needed time to process and heal after another failure.
“Amelia answered the phone though, and I’m not sure what the whole conversation in tailed. Other than the fact that she told your mother to stop being a bitch, and Penny ripping the phone from her hands. Your mother must have been being smart though because Penny then hung up on her and Milli didn’t get grounded.”
A small laugh falls from your aching chest, “She’s always been a smartass like dad. You know, she was the best gift I could have asked for when they told me they were pregnant. 14 years old and I couldn’t wait to be a big sister.”
A small kiss is laid in the center of your chest and causes you to clutch even tighter on to Jake. The looming weight in your stomach makes you feel like you’re going to puke, but the tightness in your throat holds onto the choked sob that wants to break free.
“I–” The sob releases with the word and you have to take a few breaths to regain your bearings. “I can’t go through another treatment, Jake. I can’t... It hurts too much. I’m tired, my body is tired. I’m sorry.” The final words are spoken as barely a whisper, but you know Jake hears them as his hands move from your hips and wrap around you entirely. A soft nod is all you get and for a moment you worry that it’s finally been enough for Jake. That the final straw has been broken and this is the end. Silent tears stream down your face, though the shudders that rack through your body are enough for Jake to pull back. His emerald eyes quietly watch you as he wipes the tears from your face. You remain silent as you watch him, waiting to see emotions of disgust or hate, though all you find is love and a pain that matches your own.
“I’m kinda glad you said it.” A laugh falls from his lips and your eyebrow raises in question. “I couldn’t put you through that again, seeing you cry every night and slowly lose the light within you. I can’t do that again, but I also didn’t feel like I had any right to ask you to stop.”
A shutter of a breath leaves your body, before you fall into Jake’s chest. A gentle kiss is placed on the crown of your head, then multiple one’s trail in a line down your face until he meets your lips.
“I don’t need a child; not like I need you darlin’. You are all I have ever wanted and the only thing that keeps me going. We will always be our own family, with or without children.” His left-hand traces across your face then cups your cheek and the cool metal of his wedding ring brings you all the more comfort. “Do not, ever, doubt how much I need and love you. My best girl.”
Your lips find each other, and you quietly wonder how you could have ever doubted Jake’s love for you. Your lips melt together with ease. Neither of you are in a rush, this kiss was about the deep love you shared for each other, and that fact alone.
“I love you.” You mutter the words against Jake’s lips, yours brushing up against his with every breath you take. No words are uttered in reply, the bruising kiss that follows is reply enough.
...
A small smile covers your face as you glance at the stack of multicolored drawings that your students had made for their art project yesterday. It was lunch recess and given that you forgot your lunch at home, you had more than enough time to go through and write various feedback. Ranging from excellent work to awesome job and taping a small piece of candy for when they got home.
The knock at your door has you glancing up and your eyes meet Jake, who stands at your classroom door, hand out wiggling your lunch bag. His eyes dance with mischief and the grin he gives you has a giggle bubbling from you.
“This wouldn’t be yours, would it?” His tone is teasing as he makes his way to your desk. The green flight suit has your eyes tracing up and down his form and enjoying the way that it clings to him.
“Thank you, baby.” Your stomach grumbles in its own answer and has the both of you laughing. “You’ve just saved 20 five-year-olds from having to deal with that monster.”
“Well, I had some extra time and went home to eat, only to find this still in the fridge.”
Your hands reach out to take the bag from Jake, as his hip finds home on the side of your desk beside you. Though the bag is quickly switched from the hand closest to you and raised above Jake’s head.
“Not so fast darlin’. I’m gonna need some form of payment, it was hard work carrying this heavy bag around.”
The smirk that rests on his face is teasing and the not-so-subtle wink he gives you, has you getting up and wrapping your arms around his neck. Your lips brush against Jake’s just slightly, as you watch each other waiting for someone to make the first move.
“How can I ever repay you?” The words slip from your lips, barely auditable against his own.
“I can think of a few ways, sweetheart.”
The name just barely makes it past Jake’s lips, before he leans in and connects your lips. The hand holding your bag is forgotten, as both of his hands find home on your waist. The kiss is deep and full of love, though you pull away in worry that someone might catch the two of you. Jake’s hands stay at your waist, while you trace small circles on the back of his neck. The pair of you relax in each other’s arms, just watching each other and enjoying the shared presence. You only pull away when a knock at your door has the both of you separating. The sight of Ms. Reynolds has you smiling, though it quickly falls when you catch sight of a pouting Madelaine and a crying Grayson tucked behind her. Jake's hands quickly fall from your side and you both make your way over to the pair.
“What happened?” The words just barely make it past your lips, as Gray pushes forward and wraps his arms around your leg. Your hand runs through his hair trying to soothe the crying five-year-old. You look to Laine knowing that you aren’t going to get an answer from Gray. The small girl looks back at Ms. Reynolds, who gives her a nod and tells you that she would be in the office if needed.
You thought that the pair would have instantly noticed Jake, though the both of them seem to be in another world. You catch sight of Laine’s trembling lip before she pushes to your desk and sits in your chair. You hadn’t noticed the object in her hand, though the two pieces of Grayson glasses stand out now against the desk as she rests back against your chair.
“They made fun of Gray, then pushes him and broke his glasses.”
Her voice sounds so small, unlike her usual happy self. Your eyes glance back down at Gray, who still remains clasped at your hip, then to Jake, to find an unreadable but hard expression on his face.
“I was only protecting Gray, they wanted to hurt him.”
Her eyes lift from her hands that twist in her lap, and the tears that line her eyes break your heart. You want nothing more than to go and hold her, though you can’t with Gray wrapped around you.
“What happened darlin’?”
For a moment you forgot that Jake was here at all, though as he slowly walks closer to Laine and crouches down beside her, you're thankful for his presence. Her eyes instantly find home when looking at Jake and the ease that comes over her body has the tension in your body releasing.
“They weren’t big this time, Mr. Jake. I could actually protect him.” The tremble in her lips only increases as she talks to Jake. “I didn’t mean to make him bleed; I just wanted him to leave Gray alone. It was only a little push, I promise.” Her eyes flash between the both of you, begging you to believe what she is saying. “He fell.”
The words are cut off by a sob, and before you know it both of the twins are sobbing. Gray cries echo through the room full of physical pain, while Laine looks terrified of whatever consequences await her.
...
Jake isn’t sure what possesses him, hearing Laine cry while explaining what happened not only makes his heartache but sets a fire deep within that is continuously fueled as the words she said repeatedly flash through his mind.
They weren’t big this time, Mr. Jake. I could actually protect him.
The words made his skin crawl, but he couldn’t focus on that right now. Not when Madelaine’s body shook with every gasp of breath she took. He acts before he can even think, his only goal is to protect and comfort her small frame.
Jake’s hands reach out, not wanting to force Laine into a place she doesn’t feel comfortable, but before anyone can say a thing her small form pushes towards Jake and grasps onto his neck. Her hold tightens as Jake stands, both legs lock around his waist, and he looks back to see you in the same position with Gray.
A hand rubs at her back and small shushing sounds emit from his chest, in hopes of soothing and comforting her as her face stays hidden in the side of Jake’s neck.
“You’re not in trouble, Sweetheart. Nobody is mad at you for protecting Gray.” Her crying eases slightly at the words, though her hold remains clasped around Jake’s neck. “Where’s my little darlin’? I can’t have her crying, need to see that pretty smile.”
A small giggle breaks from you, but Jake’s gaze and focus remain on Laine. His hand traces up and down her back, stopping as she pulls away from his neck and looks at him. Jake’s hand lifts to push back the stray hair from her face and wipe the tears from her cheeks. He gives her that same smile that is usually reserved for you and gets a cheeky one in return.
It may only be small, but the smile eases a bit of the pain that had formed in Jake’s chest. Jake looks back at you and finds that Gray has also stopped crying and now the pair of you sit watching. He slightly adjusts his hold on Laine but then moves to stand beside you.
...
Your heart melts at the sight of them together, and your attention is brought back to Gray as he finally pulls away from your neck and looks at Jake and Laine as well. Your hand brushes through his hair, gently making sure that he didn’t get hurt or cut. The small glasses lay on your desk, split down the middle and the lens cracked.
His head lays back against your shoulder, and the small yawn that he admits from him tugs at your heart. The pair of them had spent the better half of the 45-minute-long recess crying, there were only 10 minutes before any of the other children came in and you wanted to make sure both of them were okay.
“Gray don’t worry about your glasses; I’ll get a new set ordered tonight and they will be here by the end of the week.”
A small nod is all you get in answer before Jake is moving toward the two of you. Gray’s head rises as he sees the small smile on Madelaine’s face, and he give’s her one of his own that matches. You look over at Jake as he moves a few pieces of hair from Laine’s face, and the smile he gives both the twins is one you’ve only seen given to you.
“We aren’t mad at you, either of you, okay?” Jake looks between the twins and gets a small nod from each of them. “But from now on, if someone tries to hurt you, I want you to tell an adult.”
“Like you and Ms. Cece?”
You look down at Gray and find him patiently waiting for a reply.
“Exactly, buddy.” Your hand brushes the hair from his face as he leans back on your shoulder. You look over to Jake who is swaying side to side, with a half-asleep Madelaine in his arms. A small smile crosses your lips and though you shouldn’t be this emotionally close with the twins, you couldn’t be more thankful for this moment. For both of them to have someone to hold onto them and sway, letting them know that there are people that care. People that love them, even if you can’t outrightly say it.

AITA for yelling at my mom before she went away on an emotionally taxing trip to another country to take care of my hospitalized grandmother?
The town I'm in went through a mass shooting a couple weeks ago, you might have seen it on the news. I'm a college student and was staying on campus at the time, and everyone went through lockdown for a couple of days. I remember not being alerted there was a shooting going on until I had already been walking around outside for at least a hour while it was happening five blocks down, and then staying in my room while on a call with my friends until 7 am who were trapped in other buildings and had to sleep on the floor while listening to the police scanners and news stations for more info. The lockdown ended after a couple of days, but I still felt not Great, especially with all the lack of management from campus and the news reporters taking photos and videos of us during the lockdown. I had several panic attacks for days afterwards, and I'm still having them now.
I texted my parents a couple hours after it started confirming I was okay, and my dad basically texted back "I saw, you'll be fine, just stay away from the windows." This made me very upset because I thought he already knew about my situation and didn't even bother texting or calling first. But in a phone call later with my mom where I basically exploded at her for saying the same thing, I discovered he just looked up news articles 2 minutes after I sent the text and then texted that, and didn't know how close the incident was. She said that she'd be mad if what I thought was true, but in another phone call confirmed they had a talk and then told me my dad just has issues communicating sometimes and "you have a nervous personality" and so I should learn to accomodate him more. I also blew up at this and told her that he's not the one in a mass shooting right now so why do I have to accomodate for him (triggered by a pattern of this in the past) ((He still hasn't called or texted me since other than sending a quick apology for the misunderstanding).) We ended up having a very emotionally charged talk and my mom also stated her mom got hospitalized, it's all very stressful right now, and that's also why they didn't say anything about it in the family groupchat because they didn't want to stress out everyone with even more bad news and to please not tell anyone yet about it. She started ranting again about how bad her childhood was with her mom for like a half hour and I had to cut her off and redirect her. But in the end she said she now understood how serious my situation was and that I could talk to her anytime about it.
Well, I thought that was it. But after they found the shooter 72 hours later and lockdown ended, my mom called me and basically assumed that everything was fine now and I was feeling "normal" again. I was admittedly pretty cagey and told her I wasn't for several reasons and she seemed confused but didn't push it. Then a day afterward she texted me and said one of her friend's daughters had a college essay they had to submit tomorrow and asked me if I could help them and they'd buy me lunch later when I got back. I was annoyed but I ended up telling them to send it to me in a Google Doc and I made some comments, but then she called me again and asked me if I could get on a Zoom call with the daughter and fix the essay together with her. I told her no several times and asked her why I had to do this if she didn't even bother preparing this essay beforehand until the last minute, but my mom said "It's a nice thing to do", and "She really needs help", and wouldn't take my no as an answer after 10 minutes. Then I basically blew up at her one final time and told her that I just went through a mass shooting and I've been comforting my friend who saw some of the dead bodies and I'm having panic attacks and why can't she ever take no for an answer and that I hate her and then I hung up on her.
She basically texted me later and said she realized how inconsiderate her request was when I said that one of my friends saw the dead bodies. She said she's leaving to go to visit my grandma soon but I can call her any time if I want. It's been a couple weeks and there's been no communication from either of us.
I feel bad for blowing up at her since she didn't seem to know how bad it was and also her mom is hospitalized and it's very stressful. So, AITA?
What are these acronyms?

“I want you to meet someone.”
You were sitting at brunch with your best friend, a weekend tradition you started in college and continued after you graduated. You were sipping on your mimosa when she dropped the ball. Your eyebrows shot up at the statement, humming around the rim of your glass.
“Please, I don’t think I can take another blind date. The last one was too painful, all he talked about was his ex.” You poked at the eggs left over on your plate. It was hard trying to date someone when you were still fairly new to town. You moved to Wyoming after graduation, needing a change of scenery. While your family was hesitant about you moving so far away, you couldn’t pass up the job offer you received.
“I think you’ll really like him,” she leaned in from across the table, lowering her voice as she spoke again, “he’s a cowboy.” She pulled away, smiling when she saw your eyes light up. “He’s friends with John, they’ve been buddies since high school. He just got back to town not too long ago.. I heard he went through a pretty rough breakup last year.” She went on and on about this mystery guy, telling you things she heard from her boyfriend, John. “He’s going to be at the party tonight.”
“Does this guy have a name?” You couldn’t lie, you were intrigued. He used to ride bulls before he got injured pretty badly a couple of years ago, left town with his then girlfriend, came back after his dad passed away and his ex left him.
“His name’s Rhett. Rhett Abbott. You’ve heard of the Abbott ranch, right?” You nodded as you chewed on your muffin, washing it down with another sip of your drink.
“Yeah, I know which one you’re talking about. So he’ll be there?” You asked her, trying to not get your hopes up. You’ve had one too many failed dates recently, you think one more might put you off dating for good.
“Wear that black dress you bought a few months ago, it’s sexy,” she giggled as she placed her card down on the table. You rolled your eyes as you downed the champagne and orange juice.
You stood in front of your mirror a few hours later, smoothing your hands down the front of your dress. It was a satin material, hugging your figure in all the right places. The dress looked good on you, you just never had the opportunity to wear it. You touched up your lipstick and sent a text to your friend to let her know you were on your way. The party wasn’t very formal, and you were afraid you were a tad overdressed. Your stomach was in knots as you walked through the door, anxious to meet the infamous Rhett.
You had barely made it through the door when you tripped over the lifted lip of the rug that was on the floor, causing you to fall right into the arms of a stranger. Leave it to you to make a grand entrance.
“You alright there, ma’am?” You looked up to see the most beautiful man you’d ever seen. Tendrils of hair fell down onto his forehead, his deep blue eyes staring back into yours. And that voice. Its timbre ran a shiver down your spine. It sounded so warm, a gruffness to it that made your palms sweat. You swore he could probably hear your heart racing.
“Oh good! I see you two have already met,” your friend declared, hand in hand with John. “Rhett, this is the friend I was telling you about!” Your face heated up immediately when you realized you were in the arms of Rhett Abbott. Your hands were still gripping onto his firm biceps. You prayed at that moment to every god and deity that the earth would open up and swallow you whole. You friend didn’t stick around long, moving to greet more guests that came through.
“I am so sorry,” you finally spoke up, your voice nearly leaving you. You found your footing and stepped away from him, his hands dropping from the hold they had on your waist. You took in the sight of him. He wore a pair of dark wash jeans and a simple black button up, the sleeves rolled to the elbows. My god, you thought to yourself, he looked like sin personified.
“It’s alright. It’s not every day I have a pretty woman throwing herself at me,” he smirked.
“I didn’t- I wasn’t.. I just tripped- the carpet,” you rambled on before you realized he was laughing slightly. A warm smile was spreading across his face.
“I’m just kidding, sweetheart. I’m glad I was there to catch you,” he shifted on his feet, sliding a hand through his hair. “I’m Rhett, well, I guess you already know that.” It was your turn to smile up at him. You introduced yourself and extended your hand for him to shake.
“It’s nice to meet you, Rhett,” you said, trying to ignore the feeling that washed over your body as you felt his callused hand take yours.
“Likewise. You wanna grab-“ He didn’t get to finish his sentence before your friend was grabbing you by the arm and pulling you away. You threw him an apologetic look over your shoulder, mouthing “later” to him.
You didn’t see much of Rhett throughout the night, you were both too busy mingling with different people. He was catching up with old friends and you were making new ones. You were listening intently to Lisa talk about her new plants that she just repotted when you looked to your left and saw him. Rhett was taking a swig of his beer when his eyes met yours, a look that says everything and nothing all at once. It lasted all of two seconds before you’re being pulled back into the conversation when someone uttered your name. You saw Rhett make a move towards the door, he looked back towards you, a silent invitation. You waited a few minutes before excusing yourself, following after Rhett.
He was propped against the wall, taking a drag off a cigarette. His face lit up when he saw you, standing up straighter and pushing away from the wall.
“Hi. You gonna fall into my arms, again?” There that smirk was once more. You couldn’t deny that it made your insides twist and turn in the most delicious way. God, he was so handsome.
“Only if you’ll catch me again,” you joked. You made small talk as he finished his cigarette, telling him about why you moved to Wyoming and how you ended up in Wabang of all places. He talked about how he met John and how your friend never stopped talking about you when she was around.
“You wanna go grab some coffee?” Rhett asked, kicking at a rock that was at his feet. His hands were shoved into his pockets. “The diner down the road has the best coffee and ap-“
“Apple pie,” you finished his sentence, grinning at him. “It’s the best thing I’ve ever tasted.” You hesitated in your answer, not wanting to sound too eager. “I’d love to get a cup of coffee.” He walked you to his truck, opening the door for you. You talked the entire drive to the diner. You both got coffee and shared a piece of the apple pie. You stayed until Mrs. Mabel, the diner owner, was closing up shop for the night.
You stood outside the diner, not wanting the night to end. When there was a lull in the conversation, you fell into comfortable silence, walking down the street back to his truck.
“Hey, look up,” he said quietly, stopping on the sidewalk. You did as he said and the sight took your breath away. The sky was clear, the stars on full display. They sparkled like little diamonds, flickering like fireflies. You stood close to Rhett, shoulders brushing and hips knocking into each other. You looked to him, his face still turned upwards and you felt a wave of emotion wash over you. The soft glow from the street light enveloped him, and you took your time examining his side profile. You noticed a small scar at the edge of his jaw, barely noticeable under his stubble. Your fingers itched to trace it.
You never believed in love at first sight. Hell, you were close to giving up on love in general, but there was something simmering inside you as you looked at Rhett staring up at the stars. A feeling that wrapped its way around your heart and squeezed tightly. He looked down at you eventually, smiling that smile you were growing extremely fond of.
“Let’s get you home,” he said. You prolonged your goodbyes, neither of you wanting the night to end. You exchanged numbers and soft smiles before you got out of the truck. He watched until you got the door unlocked and waved at him to let him know you were okay. As he drove off, you shut the door, pressing your back against it and sliding down slightly. You felt giddy, a smile taking up permanent residence on your face. Rhett texted you when he made it home. Not too long after, another message came through.
“Would you like to go on a date next weekend?”
Tumblr media
“Shit, shit, shit,” you cursed as you pulled the burnt toast from the toaster, nearly burning your fingertips in the process. “Damn it.”
“Well, that’s a sight a man could get used to,” Rhett said from behind you, causing you to jump slightly. He was propped against the entryway to the kitchen, pajama pants slung low on his waist. His eyes raked over your body, letting out a low whistle that caused you to turn away shyly. You were wearing just his flannel and your panties, foregoing pants since you knew you’d end up back in bed if Rhett had anything to say about it.
You had been dating for a few months now, spending nearly all of your free time together. You couldn’t get enough of each other, never running out of things to talk about. He listened to you complain about your office drama, getting so invested in who’s having an affair with who. You knew you were in the honeymoon phase but you loved every second of it. You had never felt this way about someone before. You were able to be yourself totally and completely. You didn’t have to hide your darkest parts from Rhett, nor did he have to hide his from you. You understood each other in a way no one else could.
He pushed off from the doorframe and made his way to you, wrapping you up in his arms and holding you close. He placed a kiss on your forehead and swayed you slowly.
“Trying to burn my kitchen down?” He asked, but there was not a hint of malice behind his words. He smiled softly at you before kissing you lightly, butterflies erupting in your stomach at the domesticity of it all.
“I was going to bring you breakfast in bed,” you said, pouting up at him. Your fingers wove through his soft curls at the nape of his neck, kissing him again.
“That’s sweet, baby. How about I whip us up something while you go get ready for today?” You nodded, pressing a kiss to the scar on his shoulder before walking away. Rhett couldn’t resist himself and he placed a small slap to your ass as you moved past him, relishing in the yelp you let out.
You spent all day in the city, nearly dead on your feet when you made it back to his place that evening. After a quick dinner and a (not so quick) shower, you laid in bed cuddled into Rhett’s side. Your head rested on his chest, fingers tracing shapeless figures where you lay. Rhett was dozing off, replies to your stories becoming few and far between. You were nearly asleep yourself when he whispered your name. You looked up at him and there was a look in his eyes you couldn’t recognize.
“You’re my best friend, you know that?”
Tears welled up in your eyes and you leaned in to kiss him firmly on his lips. You had not uttered those three words yet, but you felt them. You felt so deeply for Rhett, it frightened you some days. You loved him, loved everything about him. You poured all of your emotions into the kiss, hoping that somehow he would know you felt the same.
“I love you, Rhett, so much,” you said before even thinking about it, kissing him harder and moving to straddle his waist.
You were in love with Rhett Abbott. A man who was not always perfect, who was stubborn and hot headed at times. A man who picked you wildflowers ‘just because’ and who made you french toast on Sunday mornings. A man who made you feel so safe and accepted, reminding you of your worth every day. A man who has been catching you when you fall from day one. You loved him in this moment and all of the other moments in between and you hoped you got to love him for the rest of your life.

●I can imagine he didn't know you existed but when he did figure it out he was like really confused because he made sure to use protection (bro was probably drunk when he did it so that prob why he didn't know you existed)

● alr let's give the lucky girl a name let's call her Gloria I like to imagine your mother Gloria to be somewhat of an alcoholic getting drunk on the weekend bringing multiple different boys home getting smashed and all that stuff
● she knows this is a problem but it's hard for her to stop one weekdays she trys to help you with your homework but ultimately falls asleep and you end up bringing her to her bedroom and tucking her in
●when John is finds out actually you exist he sees the situation your in and how your practically raising yourself he know he need to take you under his wing he might not know what he's doing but he's also part of you existed so he's also responsible for you

●for you, you're a little shy towards him because you barely know all you know is that he's your father

Post colider
It was a rainy night, a little drizzle, that's all. You pick up your phone, and you got a text from your dad. "You might be home a little later than expected. There's some money in my top drawer. Go ahead and order yourself a pizza. I love you !" Sent 1 hour ago
"HI dad, sorry for responding late. My phone died, so I had to charge it :p. I love you too! Come back home safely 4 me plz!"
You of course where a little upset he's always been coming home late tired and sore they've been overworking him for quite sometimes and every night he comes back he says that this will be the last time they make him work more hours
You knew he was lying every time you honestly considered emailing the company but decided against it
You called pizza place and placed your order. Now you just have to wait
Why not watch some TV? You grab the remote and turn the TV on it was on the news channel
"Explosion at Alchemax the cause is still unknown, but the police are currently looking for survivors -"you turned off the TV and got your shoes on as quickly as possible"
your ran it didn't matter if your legs started to hurt. You ran all the way to the scene
It was completely destroyed. You tried to run to what was left of Alchemax, but a police officer stopped you
"im sorry ma'am, but I can't let you pass"
you tried to push past him left, and right you went until finally collapsed in defeat
"I just need to know if my dad is okay.." You cried, choking back tears
The officer was taken aback. "I know you're worried about your dad, and I promise we won't stop till we find him, but for now, I suggest you go back home "
"Can you at least drive me back home? It's pretty cold, and my legs hurt. " You choke out with a couple of sniffles
"I- yeah, of course I can"
While the police officer driver you back hime you could help but think of the worst possibilities deep down you prayed none of them would be true
When you got home, you walked to your bedroom, grabbed all the warn abd fuzy blankets, and pretended it was your dads embrace you ended up crying for most of the night until you grew tired and fell asleep
Click
The door unlocked and closed softly. You slowly got up, you'd run, but you had your fair share of running for the day
"Dad?" You spoke softly due to your sore throat
Nothing
you started to walk to the living entrance
You were met with a pale white man? With black spots on him
"Hey honey..." he said tiredly
he sounded like you dad, but he doesn't look like your dad
"Dad... What happened?" Asked softly
"it's- it's a long story honey" he collapses "look I known it's been a long day for the both of us but can you please just...ya know just like drag me to bed"
"Of course dad," as you started to carry him on yout back to bed
You pushed his limp body on the bed and then climbed into the bed as he held you soon. Both of you drifted to sleep
●things became different when he became the Spot
● money was somewhat tight when Alchemax fired him
●he was hired by some places, but it usually didn't last long he tended to freak out the customers/employees
●rent was coming up, and he was just fired, not to mention he had to feed him and his child
●That's when he resorted to a life of crime
● and when he had his first fight with Spiderman
● and when he started world hopping of course he texted you the text probably went something like this "Hey honey I found out how to get my revenge on spider man>:)) but I need more Alchemax Coliders because it'll give me more spots >:) I don't think I'll be back in time for dinner grab the money in cookie jar an order yourself something i love you stay safe😘"
you knew your father had an obsession with Spiderman because he's the one that made him like this, so this was nothing new to you
When the spot got back to his dimension, he immediately went to check in you watching you through a window
He entered the home, and when you saw him, you gave him the biggest hug (you two guys always do this even if he was just out for groceries)
This was all for you. EVERYTHING he did was for you, and it was always for you. The bond you too built grew is unbreakable. He WILL protect you even if it kills him
Alr something I'd like to break down is the reader is 10 through 13 when this stuff happens you choose the age alr that's all I wanted to say
Have a lovely jubbly day, my customers
HOLLY SHIT I JUST RE-READ THIS ITS SO FUCKING CRINGE DO NOT READ I REPEAT DO NOT READ -future Lindsey(or past Lindsey how that shit works)

Lily was struggling at home, it was the first summer since graduating high school, she turned 18 a few weeks ago and then things started to fall apart. Her boyfriend had a special program and left for college early, meaning she didn’t get to have the summer with him. Her dad was either on business trips or out with his new wife who was barely 10 years older than her. And her mom moved across the country to her new job. She felt completely alone. She was cursing herself for not accepting the offer to go away to college, but she had thought her boyfriend was going to go to state like she did. At least she could get a bunch of her classes done cheaper at state and then transfer later on, it meant very little to how she was feeling.
The first week of school was difficult, being in college, most of her friends had gone away and she was feeling more isolated and alone. She went to talk to her father about transferring early but he barely listened to her. Within a few days he would be heading out to work on a take over of another company leaving him out of town for a few weeks. The statements from him to her, about “growing up” and “just deal with it” hurt her a lot. She had no desire to talk to her stepmom either and when she called her mom, her mom seemed too busy to care.
She laid on her bed one night looking through the skylight just wishing for something to be different for her to feel like she wasn’t alone.
The next day she woke up feeling energized for the first time in weeks, she texted her boyfriend asking him how he was doing, and what was new, she looked at the time and knew he wouldn’t be responding until later in the morning when he got up. She headed out for a run and felt good. She rounded the corner of one of the trails and there was this guy standing there. She grinned at her and waved and she normally would have kept running but she stopped and said hi.
“Hi, nice to see someone on the trails this early not just me.”
She beamed “yeah it’s been a while since I felt like running again.”
“Well lucky for me, I’m Damion.”
“Lily.”
“Nice name a little tame sounding but very nice.”
She laughed “I was about to head home.”
“Oh darn I just got here I was hoping to have a partner.”
“How about I do one more before I take off?”
“That would be delightful.”
The two started to run, matching each others pace quite easily. She ran past a couple runners running the opposite direction she was and they moved aside her for and Damion had to adjust and move around them. The two runners waved at Lily but it was like they ignored him, she noticed and as they continued “that was rude of them.” She spoke up.
“Oh don’t worry about it, seems to always happen to me.”
“I grew up on this town and over the years it’s been going down hill, the town council is corrupt and people are just getting worse and worse.”
“Not you it seems, you’re a light in all the darkness.”
“Oh well I’ve had my moments, but I try not to let it get me down, if I did I’d probably end up as jaded and twisted as the rest of the town.”
He laughed again, “I could only imagine you twisted, though most of the time I think of twisted girls like that being wild bitches and sluts.”
She was shocked he would be talking so openly with a girl he just met, she smiled though “yeah well I know people like that too.” She said thinking of her stepmom who she always looked at like a slut and gold digger since her dad got divorced and they started dating a few months later.
“We all do.” He grinned as they made the loop and came back to the beginning, “well this is your stop, it was nice to meet you Lily.”
“Nice to meet you too, maybe I’ll catch you around.”
“Who knows it could happen.”
She smiled and headed home, she opened her phone and saw messages from her boyfriend, she blink seeing he texted her an hour ago, had she not heard them, she was running but it’s so weird. She looked at the time, it was later than she thought almost 10, but she had only been running what an hour? How is it almost 3 hours later? She shook her head, she had to shower and head to campus, she had a class at 11 and another one at 2.
She barely made it to class luckily for her college wasn’t as strict as high school and she was still feeling good about the run. The missing time had been forgotten and she was able to have a good class session, she was attentive and picking up things better today than she had in a while. She noticed her professor looking at her more, she wasn’t sure why but it felt good to have his attention.
After her first class she headed to the school cafe, needing something to eat and some coffee, she sat down and started to munch of her phone and was reading when someone came over and sat with her, she looked up from her book to see Kyle, a kid she knew in high school, he was a douche bag and always bragging about the girls he banged back then.
“Hey,” he said in a way that confused her, like he was hitting on her.
“Hi?” She said softly looking around as if this was a prank or something “can I help you?”
“I saw you sitting alone and I thought what is a hot chick like you doing alone, so I came to chat.”
She looked at him thinking, “hot chick? He must crazy.”
He smiled at her, “so what’s your name?”
The gall of this guy, they went to school together for years and had no clue who she was. “Lil” she managed to say before he jumped in.
“Lilith, oh god right, I remember you, in high school right, we fucked right?”
“No” she said feeling upset with the thought of fucking him, glossing over that he called her something other than her name.
“Really with a body like that I would have thought.”
She looked down confused what he was talking about.
Tumblr media
She was mystified to see she was in a V-neck shirt and that her breasts were on display, this wasn’t something she ever did. She had been distracted at home after her run and must have just gotten dressed quick to see what she was wearing. It did explain why her teacher was looking, honestly the way the outfit was showing her body off she was actually feeling good today, better even. She looked at Kyle, “oh umm well I was dating someone in school.”
“Oh no shit, that’s cool.”
“Yeah, probably why you never noticed me.”
“Nah I would have noticed you totally and hell probably would have tried to steal you. You still with him?”
She thought about it, she was still with him but he was gone. “Yes, but he is away for school.”
“No shit, well If he is in another zip code you know that means you’re free game.”
She blushed feeling a rush from that, she never would have thought of herself as game and guys like him on the hunt for her, but it felt good to be wanted. Her boyfriend was great and she loved him but the distance was causing some issues. He wasn’t communicating as much but there are so many reasons for it, hell she wasn’t texting him as much either. “That’s umm nice for you to say but I am with him.”
“Well you’re “dating” him, you aren’t with him, and I’m sure some other girls have his attention.”
“I doubt it, he is a nice guy.”
“Yeah ok, if you are so sure ask him if he has any female friends he likes to hang with. If he doesn’t say any, he is hiding it, if he says someone, they are probably closer than he will let on.”
“That’s a jaded look on life.”
“It’s not life it’s college, and trust me, I know guys and they want two things, food and sex.”
“So that means you only are flirting with me to get sex?”
“Maybe food too, I do love to eat girls out.”
She blushed deeper “umm yeah, well I’m not on the market.”
“Never said you had to be, I don’t mind free samples” he chuckled “look you can cling onto whatever something you have, but just know I’m always around to chat, or talk or not talk whatever your little heart desires.” He grinned and grabbed her hand and wrote his number on her wrist with a big heart around it. “To remember me.” He says then flips her hand around and kisses the back in an actually romantic gesture.
She watched him leave, moving back to his buddies who seem to be mocking him for striking out with her. Though she should get rid of his number it was oddly refreshing to hear a guy talk so openly and honest about his intentions. She put his number into his phone and if nothing else she could text him just to see if he would say something sexual maybe she could use it to tease her boyfriend about guys hitting on her at school.
“He is kind of hot, got that whole bad boy vibe.” She heard a voice in her ahead talk about Kyle, “you did hear rumors in school that made him sound like an incredible fuck.” She put thoughts like that away in her mind, not needing to think about bad boys or sex or cheating.
She spent the rest of the day at class and relaxing at home, she had the house mostly to herself, her stepmom would come home, and leave, it was suspicious because her dad was gone all the time. Maybe she would follow her, find out if she was cheating on him, or just spending his money at spas and resorts like she always claimed. But that was for another day, when she was busy with course work. She texted her boyfriend a few times, finally texting about what Kyle said.
L: “hey babe, just a question, I have a class and they brought up something and I was just curious.
Josh: “sure babe what’s up?”
L: “so there is a professor for my sociology class that said that guys only find friends of the opposite sex whom they find attractive and want to fuck.”
J: “ok I can see that.”
L: “I was just wondering because a lot of guys and girls in class kind of brought up things and I guess I’m over thinking things.”
J: “let me guess, you got a little worried and thought I might be tempted.”
L: “not really, ok, maybe a little, I mean I’m not around so it’s not like we can do all the stuff we normally would have done, dinners or movies, cuddling or other things.”
J: “oh no I totally understand over the summer and even with school starting I had the same worry, I’m a nerdy guy and you’re a girl, so really if anyone would have a chance of hooking up it would be you.”
L: “You’re not a nerdy guy.”
J: “babe come on.”
L: “ok maybe a little, but it’s cute and stuff.”
J: “for you. Not many girls are into that.”
L: “you would be shocked, but anyway ok I’m glad you and I talked things were just racing in my mind.”
J: “of course babe, I love you.”
L: “love you too, are you coming home for thanksgiving break?”
J: “I should be unless you don’t wanna see me.”
L: “babe come on now.”
J: “yes so unless there is some huge thing I’ll be home.”
L: “ok babe love you.”
J: “love you too.”
Lily laid back in her bed feeling better after the talk, it was just what she needed to get Kyle out of her head.
The next day Lily got up and went for a run, it was different she was feeling more bouncy and her bras weren’t giving her the same support as they normally did. She ran a few laps and was expecting to see Damion again, actually oddly enough she was hoping to see him, he had a nice smile, was so friendly and it felt good to have a friend. But he wasn’t around so after a while she headed home.
Another day passed, another passed and still she didn’t run into him. Why was she hoping to see him? Friday morning she got home, it had rained briefly through the night and the ground was a bit muddy but she put on some clothes and headed out. As she pulled in and started her stretches she heard his voice “hello miss me?”
She turned to see Damion, “a bit, the other day was fun, I really enjoyed the run with you.”
“It’s good to feel wanted.”
She laughed a bit “oh god that’s right, you just made me think of it, the other day after the run with you I headed to school and oh my god, this guy from school, who is kind of a douche.”
“Handsome?”
“Yeah I guess, not the point.”
“Why not, isn’t it good to have handsome guys around you?”
“Well yeah, but not when they just wanna hit on you for sex and you have a boyfriend.”
“What if you didn’t have a boyfriend?”
She looked at him “again off topic.”
“Sorry,” he chuckled.
“So he hit on me, and it was like he didn’t even know me from school, honestly him calling me Lilith was a tip off.”
“Sexy name though.”
“Yeah. But.”
“No buts it’s sexy, and if he didn’t know you, it’s funny he got close to your name.”
“Well I said my name was lil and he jumped in and called me that.”
“Oh, well still, sexy name, honestly it makes me wonder how changing a name would change a person, they say names mean a lot in the mortal realm.”
“Mortal realm?”
“Well yeah there are tons of them, theoretically, fairy, demon, sleep, whatever you can imagine would probably have their own realm.”
“Ok that’s more story book I guess.”
“Sure,” he smiles. “Anyway I was just saying that Lilith sounds hot and you could use it.”
“But my name is Lily.”
“Fine, still hotter.”
“Ok well from a guys perspective, if you had a shot at me using the name Lily or the name Lilith. Which would you want more.”
“Both but Lily would get the gentle side while Lilith would get the more raw sexual side.”
She looked at him with a distain she gave most guys like that, but she didn’t dare admit to herself that him talking like that, even about her as an example was arousing her. “God you men are all alike.”
He laughed a little “oh well women try to act like they are complicated and I found that most girls fall into 4 categories and honestly you probably could fall into two of those.”
“Oh and they are?”
“Girls who like older men because they have daddy issues,” he watched her blush “or girls who want bad boys to turn them into bad girls.”
She slipped on a patch of mud they walked through, falling a second to her knee as he kept walking like the mud didn’t phase him. She noticed he wasn’t leaving a footprint behind him and she was about to say something when he laughed and asked if she needed help, she glared at him and stood up and caught up to him. “Dick.”
“What?”
“It wasn’t funny.”
“It was a little funny.”
“Ok fine a little,” she cracked a smile. And thinking about what he said “so which of the two do you think I’d fall into.”
“Well I’m older and that guy you told me about is your age. So really it would have to be which of the two of us you would want to fuck, more than once, because just one and done is so common you can’t get a real feeling for it.”
“Well” she started to think as they walked up a side trail leading towards the woods more “I’d have to have sex with both to really answer that, and I’d have to think which one would be more my speed.” She added.
“Oh well I’m all for meaningless sex, more so in pursuit of knowledge.”
She blushed “well I mean if we were, but I think only because of the age thing I would be siding more with him, no offense.”
“Oh none taken,” he grinned “oh this way I think is a quick way back.”
“Are you sure?”
“I think so.”
He led her down a trail and they popped out onto a street, “oh shit this is,” he looked around “oh this is actually close to my rental.”
She looked at him “really?”
“Yeah ok I didn’t know, I knew my place was close to a trail but I had no clue.”
“Yeah ok,” she said with a bit of a wary look.
“Hey why don’t you come over, I’ll get us some waters and drive you back to the park to get your car.”
She thought about it, and wanted to say no but didn’t want to be rude either so she nodded and followed him. She knew this neighborhood too, she was aware of a rental house somewhere close but never could remember where it was. She followed him up some steps into a small loft style apartment, the place was nice, very clean, the style she didn’t think was his, maybe he was renting a pre-furnished place.
There was a faint smell of something, she didn’t have any clue what it was but it was making her feel light headed. He brought her two bottles, one water and a bottle of beer. She had to make a choice and she pulled up the beer and sucked it down quick.
She smiled as she looked at her hands, two bottles of beer, she never drank a lot but it felt good to just let loose and Damion was such a nice guy, handsome too. He was right if she had daddy issues he would totally be the guy for her. Still it wouldn’t be the worse thing to fuck him like they were talking about other than it would be cheating. He walked in with a beer in his hand, his hand and sipped it, smiling at her “what do you think of the beers, I brew them myself, I have a small micro brew thing.”
“Oh I tried the first, it was really good, the second I swear thought was water but as I look at it I see it’s a clear bottle” she laughed trying to explain her mistake to him. He has such a nice smile.
“Just go easy, after runs people can get a bit more intoxicated than they realize and they end up doing things they might regret.”
“I’d never do that, I’m in complete control.”
“Look at his abs, he is hot, I bet if you asked him to show you his cock he would.”
“Shut up, I’m not asking him that.”
“Asking who what?”
“Sorry, thoughts in my head about asking you about showing off your cock.”
“Oh?” He said smirking “we jumped to that stage already.
“No! god! Men!”
“What you brought it up.”
“Sorry yeah I know, it’s just with everything and my bf being away, I guess I’m just horny.”
“It’s just you and me, if you wanted to take care of some needs.”
“I couldn’t.”
“Sure we can, and he looks like he could fuck us raw.”
“Shut up.”
“Ok sorry! I was joking.”
“Not you my head, me,” she laughed a little “what if, what if I fingered myself and you watched me and jerked off, that wouldn’t be cheating would it?”
“No, not if we don’t touch.”
“Do you wanna do that?”
“Now?”
“Yeah maybe in your bedroom?”
“Yeah sure, this way.”
He led her down the hall to a small bedroom with a floral print comforter on it. She thought it was odd for man but she was too aroused, no not aroused she was too horny to give a damn. She stripped down and laid on his bed, all with him watching her. She moaned as she started playing with herself. “Like this?”
“I’m loving this” he said with a deep voice “who am I watching, lovely Lily or slutty Lilith.”
“Lilith” she moaned, being slutty right now felt so right, as she had her fingers darting in and out of her. She moaned as she looked at him, her fingers and him watching wasn’t enough she needed him, “oh god I want you, come fuck me.”
He grinned and crawled on her, he kissed her and she blacked out. Waking up hours later she was alone in the room, she was naked and her pussy was filling the room with a sexual odor. She looked around “Damion?” But no answer came for her, she felt embarrassed, she fucked some guy she met twice and he took off, but this was his place right? She looked around it felt familiar, this was a rental she looked at months ago, it was cheap and furnished and the older couple were sweet but it was just out of her budget.
She sat up dripping all over the comforter and went to put her clothes on, she grabbed her muddy sneakers and noticed where his sneakers were there was no dried mud. That was something she should remember because it was odd he didn’t leave prints in the mud. But she heard a car and pulled up her leggings she ran in and darted out the back door quickly, leaving behind her pink cotton panties she had been wearing hours ago.
Her walk home was different, she felt as if all eyes were on her, to make matters worse in her mind she quickly realized around the block she was without panties and now her leggings were giving her a camel toe.
Tumblr media
It felt like a walk of shame, she fucked a guy and now she lost her panties and she felt like everyone knew and everyone was watching and judging her. She was heading home and she heard “Lilith, yo Lilith wait up.”
She turned to see Kyle, he was in jeans and a tshirt and was looking really good. “Umm hi.”
“Fancy meeting you here.”
“Was out for a walk.”
“That’s cool, I was gonna get some coffee at this nice place around the corner.”
“Misty Mountain Brew?”
“Yeah you know of it?”
“Best coffee.”
“No doubt, wanna come?”
She heard “wanna cum?”
“Huh?”
“I said would you like to come with me, my treat.”
“Oh coffee umm I should head home.”
“You sure come on.”
She was feeling in the mood, “yeah sure why not.”
“Cool I wanna chat a bit.”
They headed to the cafe and we’re just chatting a bit and he smiles and soon they sit down and chill. He looked at her “so I haven’t been able to stop thinking about you since we met the other day.”
“Yeah I have been thinking about you too.”
“Really? Don’t you have a guy?”
“Yeah but it doesn’t mean I can’t think about someone being a friend.”
“Friend or “friend””
“Friend” she says but for the first time she actually thought about a guy in a way other than just being friends.
“So I was curious, I don’t know if you wanna but would you wanna come to a party my frat holds every year.”
“You should do it, it will be fun.”
“I umm maybe it would be something fun but I don’t usually do parties.”
“Come on.”
“I’ll think about it, can I get a few days to consider it?”
“It’s on Saturday so I kinda need to know soon.”
“Oh sure, I’ll text to tomorrow if that’s cool.”
“Yeah that’s cool.”
J: “hey babe, haven’t heard from you all day are you ok?”
She looked down at her phone and saw the message and slid her phone away. He looked “everything ok?”
“Oh yeah things are cool, it’s just someone texting me.”
“Someone? Or your boyfriend?”
“No just someone, my boyfriend is in class.”
“Really so late?”
“Why what time is it?” She looked at her phone it was after 9p. She blushed deeply, she lost another huge amount of time.
“Are you ok?”
“Yeah Kyle I’m good, it’s just you know life is when you get busy.”
“Don’t I know it.” He smiled “so umm I’m guessing you haven’t eaten yet?”
“No I umm.”
“Well come on, let me get you dinner.”
“You don’t have to.”
“No, come on by time you get home you’ll be starving.”
She nodded “yeah sure why not.”
The two headed out to the local diner, and they were having a good time, the food was cheap but it was at least filling. He agreed to drive her over to her car, he dropped her off “oh yeah the party if you wanna go.”
“You know what yeah I’ll go.”
“Awesome.”
“What about it.”
“This year’s theme is “Badasses and Bitches.””
She looked and blushed “ok I’ll figure something out.”
She headed to bed, she didn’t even bother texting Josh. She woke up the next morning and finally texted him, apologizing saying she forgot her phone and only saw his message late. Then she texted Kyle for the first time asking what time the party started and if she was supposed to his friend or his date. He was daring and said his date and 6p.
Saturday the party was bearing down on her and she nervous, she told Josh that she was gonna be having a girls night and that she wouldn’t be able to talk. Around 5 she walked out of her house ready for a good time, she figured this would be prefect to unwind.
Getting a bunch of drinks in, by 9 she was feeling very good, she was drunk and loving life so much better. But she was getting to that bad point and Kyle brought her to his room to lay down, she needed to relax a bit.
He laid her down in bed she looked at him, “you want me.”
“Of course but you’re drunk.”
“So what, I’m here, you’re here and I’m horny.”
“It’s not right.”
She got up on her knees on his bed.
Tumblr media
“I dressed up like a badass bitch, I’m horny and I want your cock.”
“You sure about this?”
“Fuck me now or I’ll find someone else in your little playhouse to fuck me.”
He looked at the door, he had been talking about her for the last few days and he wanted her. He decided to go with it and soon the both of them were going at it. It was hours of them fucking, they kept it going she didn’t want to stop. Soon she collapsed in his arms and was sated and slept peacefully until almost noon the next day. She woke up and his cock was still in her, she never slept that way before and Josh wasn’t big enough to stay in her for so long. She knew she should slip out but his cock felt so good, why not have a good morning as she had a great night, so she started to rub against him, it didn’t take long for his cock to stiffen in her and she felt his hands on her hips as her ass was in his crotch. She moaned a feral moan loving how he felt in her. He picked up where they ended last night and he couldn’t be happier with any girl he has been with.
It was an amazing night, the party was good not that she remembered most of it, hell even sex was a blur until this morning. She remembered every inch of it, and every inch of him buried in her pussy. She was not left wanting and in the afternoon when she finally made it home she felt incredible.
She looked at her phone 9 messages from Josh. She blinked annoyed and pissed at him, wondering why he would text her so much she looked at the times, it was all around noon today, she blushed and relaxed he waited to text and was worried.
L: “hey sorry Josh, got home and realized I left my phone at my friend’s”
J: “thank god you’re still alive I was so worried.”
L: “you’re the best you know that.”
J: “ok well I guess you had a great time but you had me freaked.”
L: “trust me I was freaked too, I was searching for my phone for hours, I had to do find my phone on my laptop to realize.”
J: “makes sense sorry I blew your shit up.”
L: “it’s ok Josh.”
She calmed him down and felt good, they chatted for another 20 mins or so, all the while Kyle’s cum was leaking down into her thong and down her thicc thighs. She should have confessed, should have felt bad but neither was happening, she was actually more excited about how she was making him feel good all while knowing she just had the best sex in her life.
She took the weekend off from running, she was catching up on some schoolwork assignments as well as finding herself fingering herself a lot more. For every couple hours of work she did do, she spent an hour watching porn and fingering her pussy to another orgasm. By the end of the night her room smelled of so much sex she might have been looked at like some stripper or slut.
Monday was a good day to start running again, it wasn't that cold even as the winter months were approaching, but it wasn't hot as much anymore so she wasn't going to be instantly sweating.
Tumblr media
She was running around the normal trails she ran, hoping more today she would run into Damion again. She didn't see him and it made her a little upset, she felt like she wanted to find out what really happened the other day, and why he suddenly just disappeared after the afternoon of fucking, or at least she thinks happened that afternoon. She wasn't sure she was really into him but something about him was different, this odd darkness was what was attracting her to him. She was captivated by it and wanted to know more. Too bad though he wasn't to be found.
Over the next few weeks, Damion was on her mind but barely, Kyle though was becoming someone very close to her. More often than not she would find herself in his bed or on his couch or basically anywhere with his big cock buried in her. Thanksgiving had past, and winter break was approaching which meant break from school, Kyle had been making a bit of money from some internet things that she really could give two shits about, but he approached her about heading to a resort together for a few weeks. She really wanted to go but she also know that Josh would be home and it might be awkward if she just took off with him without some kind of story. Lying had become used more often by Lilith, she barely used her real name anymore, it held less meaning to her and honestly being a sexy bitch was fun. So when she talked her dad she told him that her mom had asked her to visit California for a few weeks and that they hadn't seen each other in so long. Her dad was a push over when it came to her anyway so he agreed, this laid the ground work for Josh. Because if Josh asked her dad or ran into him, as unlikely as that would be her story would be confirmed. She hadn't been texting him as much lately but texted him one night.
L: "Hey Josh"
J: "Oh hey, how's school, you must be very busy lately, it's been a few days."
L: "yeah completely, you must be going through something similar."
J: "Yeah babe it's a mess here, my roommate and I have finals and papers it's a nightmare."
L: "so when are you going to be home?"
J: "Probably on the 10th"
L: "Shit, are you sure?"
J: "Yeah why?"
L: "Mom asked me to come visit her in Cali."
J: "Really? That's awesome, I know you haven't seen her in a while."
L: "Yeah, but my flight out is on the 13th, which means we won't have a ton of time together."
J: "Shit, that sucks, I mean it's your mom, so you can't miss out on that chance you know."
L: "I know. So get home quick so I can see you."
Lilith looked over at Kyle as he walked out of the shower naked, she grinned, " the 10th babe, so schedule the flight for the 13th."
"Don't you want to see him for longer?"
"Why would I? I showed you the pictures he sent me of his dick, it's more like a little finger or a clit"
He laughed "babe you should stop saying that, you are dating him."
"At least he thinks I am."
"I hope you are, fucking his hot slut behind his back is only hot if you are together."
"Aww you don't think it would be fun to fuck me if I was single?"
"Sure it would be, but you have to admit, cheating on him is so much hotter."
She giggles "true, now why don't you take that thick cock of yours and put it where it belongs."
"Of course babe, I will definitely put it where it belongs," he laughed coming over to her and starting to fuck her like a feral beast, just as she took it she was filled with lust so great they would be fucking for hours.
Classes really didn't matter much to her anymore and she was barely attending classes, luckily for her Kyle was using some of the money he was making to pay off some of the students to help them both out, giving them both time to enjoy their own pleasures. A few more weeks went by, Lilith was leaking cum out of her pussy as she got home, she didn't care, it felt natural. But she had to be boring again, she got dressed in boring clothes again, had to become Lily again. Being around her father for a few days would be torture because all she wanted to do was be with Kyle. Sitting at dinner with her dad and stepmom was dull, but she played her part, he asked her how her mom was doing she lied and said fine, and that she was excited to see her soon. Something her dad said intrigued her, there was an unexpected blizzard about to hit up north, it came out of nowhere. "Really dad?" "Yeah I had a conference up there this week, but it was cancelled they are expecting over 40 inches of snow." "Interesting, well I hope flights out of there aren't cancelled" she grinned thinking how Josh would probably have to wait until finals. "Who knows" he said looking on his phone to see what reports his office was sending him. She went upstairs and texted Kyle about what her dad had said about the snow, they talked about leaving a few days early. But she wanted to give Josh a chance to get home just to keep him happy and unsuspecting. As the few days past the reports got better for the storm. The day Josh was expected to get his flight he called her and told her that his flight got cancelled and the roads home would put him on some bad back roads and highways so he would have to wait it out. She feigned being upset about it, telling him the flight she had was still on and that she would probably be in Cali before he got there. On the 13th, Kyle and Lilith were pulling into a small private terminal and she was shocked to see the private plane he had rented for their trip. "This is us?" "Yes."
"You treat me so well baby, I love it."
"I know you do, and you deserve it my dear."
As they started their flight, they sat back and enjoyed some champagne and some snacks, but both of them couldn't help but stare at their flight attendant.
Tumblr media
Lilith who never was into women started to look at her like she was a snack, she wanted her, she whispered to Kyle, "what do you think she would look like naked and between my legs?"
Kyle laughed "very sexy, but I don't think she would be into that kind of thing."
"Why not? Aren't all like that?"
"No this private company really has good staff and they aren't into that kind of thing."
She licked her lips "I bet you I can get her to do it."
"Go ahead my love, try your best, but don't pout if you fail."
She smiled at the woman, "what's your name?" she purred softly.
The attention of the attendant was instantly focused on Lilith, she felt warm and horny which was odd, she had been with her husband yesterday knowing about this flight which would take her away for a few days. "Monica," she said meekly.
"Nice to meet you Monica, I'm Lilith, why don't you come here and have a personal chat."
She looked at Lilith and felt drawn to her, moving closer to her, she sat next to her on the couch, Lilith moved closer to her, brushing her hair back and leaning in to kiss her. Monica wanted to stop her, but she let her, they started to kiss, the kiss led to more and soon in front of Kyle, the two women were 69ing, Monica on her back with Lilith grinding on her face, as she fingered the flight attendant's pussy.
The flight took a while to get where they were going, Lilith had no clue but soon they were touching down in Aruba. Monica had enough time to clean herself up before the pilots called for a landing. She was embarrassed she did what she did but was very satisfied she did do it. Lilith felt amazing and they got out of the plane and headed by car to a private resort, they had their own bungalow and were relaxing and fucking, mostly fucking but one afternoon Lilith decided to check her phone, she had messages from Josh waiting for her.
Tumblr media
"Babe come here," she said.
Kyle walked over and smiled seeing Lilith, her body was amazing, full hips, big ass, full breasts that looked bigger than before, if that was possible, but it wasn't possible was it? He shook his head "what's up my love."
"I have to answer a few texts from Josh, but honestly he bores me and I'm feeling really good right now, so why don't you come here and eat me out why I text him, that should keep me happy and if you do a good job and make me orgasm, oh I'll let you do something special with me tonight."
"Oh?"
"You know how you always want to quote unquote tap my ass, well I'll finally let you."
"Really?!"
"Oh yes," she grinned.
"Well I can't turn that offer down can I?"
"Not if you were smart."
"Well then, bon appetite," he said moving down between her legs as she pulled out her phone.
J: "Hey how are you doing, sorry I missed you, that blizzard really fucked with the school."
L: "Yeah I saw that I waited until my flight, I was hoping to see you"
She moaned as she was being eaten out, her pussy was soaking wet and she loved lying now.
J: "No I know you said you had a flight because of your mom, I wish I could have made it back in time."
L: "I know you do, sorry I haven't been texting as much, I'm catching up with my mom, we really haven't seen each other in almost 2 years since she moved and it's been so tough for the two of us."
J: "Oh I get it, I love you babe."
L: "I know you do, so hopefully I get back before you head back to school, mom really wants as much time as I can give, I might be cutting it close to the day we have to get back to campus as well."
J: "Sure babe, ok, look just check in, tell me how things are, and tell your mom I said hi."
She flipped her phone to the side, moaning as she pushed Kyle's face deeper into her pussy, "OH fucking god baby, deeper, finger me, oh god I'm so close." He kept going and soon she was arching her back and screaming as she orgasmed hard right into his face.
The next few weeks were incredible, their sexual appetites grew by leaps and bounds, nothing was off limits, she suggested one day that she wanted to peg him and though he didn't want it, he let her do it, it was like anything she wanted, she got.
Soon they were back to the real world, the jet landed and another flight attendant was left on the floor naked and twitching from the constant sex both of them inflicted on her. Kyle headed back to his house dropping her off at home, she went inside and washed up and changed some clothes, it was right before Christmas, it was the only reason they came home, to spend time with their families. She didn't tell Josh she was home, she didn't want to see him yet.
After freshening up, Lilith headed downstairs, seeing tons of gifts, she passed hers and went to her stepmother's, they were small but Lilith could almost sense they were jewelry, all given to her by her husband, but Lilith was appalled by it, some skank getting stuff that is rightfully hers, it was her father's money that he was spending on her. She hated it and decided to claim it. She opened the different boxes, finding what it was, putting on the nicer things and putting away some of the crap she felt was trash so she could sell it later.
Her father showed up a few hours later to find his little girl waiting for him.
Tumblr media
"Hello Daddy?"
"Lily?"
"Yes Daddy, I think we have to have a talk and reevaluate what happens in this house."
"What are you talking about young lady and why are you dressed like that?"
"Oh Daddy, my poor foolish man, you weren't listening."
"How dare you talk to me like that" he said but was starting to feel dizzy. His daughter's aura was starting to captivate him, he was powerless against it. There was nothing he could do, he wanted to obey, he wanted to do whatever she desired.
She slide her fingers up her milky breasts and smiled, "Such a good Daddy, first off, your little slut wife has to go you know she is cheating on you."
"You have no evidence of that."
"Oh Daddy, you don't understand, I run this house, what I say goes," she purrs "so if I said she is cheating, then she is cheating."
He blinks, trying to fight the logic, trying to fight the need to obey. "yes my dear."
"Why not call your lawyer, get a nice divorce going and file it as soon as possible I want her gone before the end of the year." The tone Lilith was talking with was dark, vicious and cruel and the more she gave into it, the more she loved it. Her father nodded and obeyed, heading to his office to call his lawyers. Within hours he would have papers drawn up and on his doorstep by the end of the night and her stepmom would be out the door within a day or two.
Next for Lilith was control over Kyle and his frat, why have one lover when she could have more than one, and she had seen many of the guys in her frat, they were studs, at least most of them. The ones she doesn't want would be quickly dealt with and removed and then she could have anyone she wanted, anytime of the day over and over. The thought of control and lust filled her mind and she rubbed herself over and over again to several orgasms that night.
Over the next few months, the take over of the frat worked like a charm, Kyle was in the palm of her hand and was paying for most things. One by one each of the guys fell into her grasp. They were easy most guys think with their dicks at that age so each one becoming nothing but her little toys.
Josh hadn't been hearing from her much during the spring semester, he was worried and one weekend decided to come home to find her. She wasn't at home of course, and when she found her dad, he told her exactly where she was. He was confused and worried and was a bit pissed that his fears of her cheating on him were feeling more real.
He arrived at the frat house around 2 in the afternoon. When Josh knocked on the door, a large man answered.
Tumblr media
Josh looked at the man, who was very intimidating "I was looking Lily."
"No one by that name is here."
"Her father said she was here."
He held out his hand and pressed a small button, "Mistress Lilith, a man is here, saying he is looking for someone named Lily." He listened for a few seconds and nodded, "yes Mistress." He looked at Josh "Enter, first door at the right, it's the waiting room, do not leave that room, Mistress Lilith will come speak to you."
Josh walked into the room that he was instructed to go to, he sat on a couch, he waited and waited it felt like forever before the sliding doors opened and in stepped a gorgeous woman.
Tumblr media
"Hello Josh," Lilith purred.
"Lily?"
"Once many, but now I'm better, I am not who I was, not who you remember, not that it matters, in time others will forget but not you, you will always remember but honestly I don't care it if hurts you or if you lose your mind."
"What are you talking about, why are you acting like this, why do you look like this?"
"This is who I am, my full lips, my big tits, look at you, you can't stop staring, you want me, you want to fuck me, but you won't be able, not anymore. Your pathetic dick does nothing for me. I remember moaning for you once, but now that I've gotten to experience what a real man is like I never have to worry about having a tiny worm in me again. Kyle is twice the man you are, and I have had others that were bigger and better."
Josh looked at her, his heart was breaking the girl he knew and loved was telling him that she fucked other guys. It was hard to deny seeing her body, the body of a slut, the body of a whore. Yet his cock was so hard, he wanted nothing more then to fuck her, the need to fuck her, to worship her was growing, and not slowly.
She started to laugh "aww is someone going to cry?"
"What made you like this?"
"No clue, and not that I give a flying fuck, I feel good, I've become better and I will never, NEVER go back."
"Fuck you."
"In your dreams" she smirked, the final dagger stabbing him. "Now get out of here, before one of my boys beats the ever loving shit out of you."
She watched him storm off, holding back tears and trying to figure out how this happened, what went wrong and how much he could be with his love again.
Lilith waited for the large hulking man walked back "Thank you my pet, I love how much you guard me and my house."
"Of course Mistress, I live to serve."
"I know you do pet."
"Now go back to your post, I will come get you later for your reward."
"Yes Mistress."
Lilith headed back upstairs to her room, with the money from Kyle she remodeled the house, turning the entire top floor into one large room fit for her. The boys all had their own rooms and she would call to them to visit her room and stay with her for a night if they earned a reward. Her pet was very hopeful he was a good boy and did a good job to earn a reward from his Mistress.
Passing a mirror in her room she stopped she saw him Damion, she blinked "Damion?"
His voice was in her mind, "yes my love, you finally achieved what no other were able to do, give up what they were to become more, to become the embodiment of what I wanted you to become."
"What is that?" she said
She felt his touch over her arms, not that he was there, he was in her mind, but she felt his touch none the same, "You are to become my queen, my wife, my partner, my concubine."
"Really?"
"Oh yes, you gave up yourself, broke your morals, broke your rules and betrayed all that you held dear."
She moaned softly as she felt his hands moving around and up her breasts, cupping them. "All I need you to do is one final step, you have to agree to becoming my queen, willingly step into it, without that you will never truly ascend."
She thought about it, she wanted to say no, she could turn this down, but if she did would she go back to normal, she felt like this entire life she had now was because of him, and she loved it, could she really give this up. She nodded, "I accept."
"Good" he purred, sliding his hands over her body, "now my dear you will feel it."
She moaned as she felt her body heating up, her blood was boiling, she was on fire from the inside out. She screamed out and orgasmed hard, her entire body was sensitive now. She looked up into the ceiling and screamed, her eyes were swirling becoming deep dark black. Small fangs extended from her teeth, her long nails became longer and sharp. She growled as she felt herself build another orgasm, his touch was making her feral and wanting to fuck, "YES MY LOVE YES!"
He looked at her "You are becoming my perfect wife, my queen, my concubine."
"Yes I feel it, I am yours, you are mine." She panted like she was in heat.
"Now to get me to you, you must find someone worthy, someone's seed who will breed you. You will give birth to me quickly and I will grow, in days I will be reborn on this mortal plane. And we will be together forever. Eternally ruling this world. You will be my queen, my wife, my mother, my heart and soul."
"Yes love!" she screamed again.
She orgasmed hard and then another one and another one, until she collapsed onto the floor.
"Arise my love, become who you were destined to become, Lilith the mother of Damion." he laughed and looked down at her as she was twitching from her orgasms "Or in your former mortal English "Mother of Daemon, or Mother of Demons."
Months Later
Tumblr media
Lilith looked down at the next man, "worthless, you were so promising, your pathetic" she spat at him, "at least you will feed me."
"Feed you?" he said nervously, he fell for this goddess of a woman, unable to stop himself from going to her hotel room, from stripping down, it wasn't until then that her mood changed and she got angry. "Get your pants off, I need to fuck, too bad for you, you won't survive your encounter with Lilith, Mother of Demons." She slid onto his lap, her pussy engulfing his cock, he felt it, his life starting to drain into her, she was feeding on him, he couldn't stop her. She looked into his eyes, and he thought he saw remorse for a second but then she smiled as she fed from another in a long line of worthless men on her quest to find the man worthy of spawning her mate.
She rode him like a feral animal until he was gone, she stood up and licked her lips wondering where the next guy would be found, and if he would be worthy or if he would be a meal.

I am not doing well.
At all.
Yesterday was my birthday. I turned 42. I live at house number 42. As a life-long Hitchhiker's Guide fan, this is a birthday I've looked forward to for years (for my brother's 42nd a couple of years ago, I bought him a bowl of jet-black petunias, with a whale toy nestled amongst them. I was wondering how he would top it) but I cancelled my birthday this year.
Last year, my family drove down to visit us. My side of the family isn't large. Both sets of grandparents are dead, my mum was an only child, my dad's brother - who never had kids of his own - died when I was about 4. My brother is single and doesn't want kids or a partner. So my side of the family is me, my parents, my brother.
And we're close.
So yeah... they drove down to see me for my birthday. They stayed a couple of nights. They were going to leave shortly after breakfast on the morning of March 16th, but I persuaded them to stay just a little longer. To come with us to soft play, and then go after lunch.
They left mine at about 2pm. My little boy gets very distressed when people leave, so they had to sneak out (hence why they were originally going to leave after breakfast, straight from the hotel, so they didn't upset him.) As predicted, he got upset, and I texted mum. She answered straight away.
Anyway. She always gives me updates when she's on the road.
"We've just crossed the bridge. We're stuck in traffic. We've stopped for a coffee." And after an hour and three quarters, when I hadn't heard from her, I sent her a WhatsApp asking how they were getting on, then carried on playing with my 4 year old.
An hour later, I realised she hadn't replied. I checked my phone - the WhatsApp had been delivered but not opened. I didn't think anything of it immediately. Then half an hour after that, I saw that I'd forgotten to give mum her mother's day present, and messaged her again.
About another half hour after that message I realised what the time was, and started to worry. They ahould have been home, and still none of my WhatsApps had been opened. I called her. It rang and rang, with no answer. I tried my brother's phone. The same happened. I called Dad. Same again. I called and called and called, and by now panic was setting in.
So I began looking online for traffic updates. Any reason at all why they may be held up, unable to answer their phones. I saw that there had been an accident on the M25 around the time they were due to get there, and obviously my mind jumped to the worst. But the more I looked into that accident, it didn't seem to fit. Traffic reports said it involved a van and a lorry, and besides, if they were held up in traffic, they'd still be answering their phones, surely?
I looked at google maps, and the a21 looked completely blocked. Dark red for miles. I went on a local "what's happening" facebook group and there were several posts saying the same thing. Avoid the A21. Serious head-on collision. A stolen car being chased by police had ploughed into a white Audi, with three passengers. Two elderly. Judging by the suitcases, they'd been or were going on holiday.
I cannot begin to explain the horror of reading that. We began calling every single hospital we could think of, trying to track them down, and finally found them in Brighton. My mother-in-law raced over to us. The plan was that she would take me, my husband, and my son over to my sister-in-law's (which was on route) drop my son off there, then take me and my husband to hospital.
Just as my MIL arrived, the police turned up to tell me there had been an accident. I think they were very confused that I seemed to know more about it already than they did.
Anyway. The next 2 months were literal hell. My dad was in a coma, and at 80 years old, was walking a knife's edge between life and death. His list of injuries was extensive. From top to bottom, he had a broken shoulder blade, broken collarbone, every single bone in his right arm was broken, his elbow completely shattered, he had 5 broken ribs, his spine was fractured in two places, his pelvis was shatterd, his femur broken. One lung was punctured and collapsed, he had internal bleeding into stomach, his renal artery was damaged.
My mum and brother fared better. My brother had quite severe concussion and extensive bruising, but nothing else, my mum also had bruising and a small tear in her liver, but they were otherwise conscious.
After a week, both my mum and brother were discharged from hospital. We found a 2nd hand mattress that we set up in our living room, so that me, my husband, and my son could sleep in there, my brother taking my son's room, and my mum taking ours until dad could come home.
And he seemed to be miraculously improving.
But after a week, we received a phone call at around 3am. Dad had taken a turn for the worse. His heart had stopped twice, and they had made the decision to not resuscitate should it happen again. We should get to the hospital to say goodbye. We were told it wasn't a matter of 'if' but 'when.'
We stayed by his side for 36 hours, telling him stories. Remembering happy memories. And after those 36 hours, I remember the doctor's exact words. "I don't understand what miracle has happened here, but I think you are safe to go home."
My dad is a miracle. He improved. He woke up. 6 weeks later, he was well enough to be moved to a hospital closer to home.
But the trauma of those two months will always stay with me. I can no longer celebrate my birthday because the association and guilt that I was the one who made them stay later, and it was because of me that they were there in the first place, are too intertwined. I have been officially diagnosed with suffering from PTSD as a result of it. Yesterday was awful, but I know tomorrow will be even worse.
Tell your loved ones that you love them. I am fortunate to still be able to do so, but that can be taken away from us in a heartbeat

A realization
I've lived with a variety of people...
I lived with my mom and step-dad for the first 16 years of my life...Then mom for the next 2, my ex-fiance for the 2 after that, back and forth between mom and my step-dad for 3 months, then with mom for a couple months, then my friend for a couple months, then my ex boyfriend for a few months, then back with step-dad a few months, and then with mom again until January of this year.
Something every single one of those places had in common was the fact that it was never enough.
If I did the dishes, I should have taken the trash out too. If I did both, why didn't I sweep the floor since I had extra time? If I did that, I should have dusted too since I got so much done. It was never, ever enough.
It was thankless.
It didn't matter if I spent the entire day doing chores for someone else in someone else's home, then went back to mine and did all of ours.
It didn't matter if all that needed doing was one thing.
It didn't. Matter.
I was expected to work til I drop, and use the collapse as an opportunity to scrub the floor.
My roommate, who I only just moved in with for the first time in January, asked me this morning to do dishes. I forgot, at first, and by the time she reminded me, I was busy with someone and waited until they went to bed to go do the dishes.
I got halfway through dishes and the hot water was running out, my back was sore, and I sat down for a break.
I felt the need to excuse it, to justify my laziness. I texted her. "Hot water ran out, back's sore, gonna take a short break to give the water time to be hot again."
And then...
I forgot about dishes.
She just walked up to me, and seeing her reminded me of the chore I'd forgotten, and every fiber of my body tensed up because I just knew I was in trouble, I'd be lectured, belittled, reprimanded, like I always have been in these situations.
...She looked at me
into my eyes
and with genuine sincerity said
"I appreciate you, you're beautiful, and I love you."
She had every reason to be upset. I'd been given one, singular chore, and I'd forgotten to do it most of the day. One chore and I couldn't even make myself get through all of it. But that didn't matter to her.
She just wanted to give me some affirmations.
Just to see me smile.
And earlier, barely an hour ago now, my other roommate came through, stretching his legs after a long stint of sitting down at his own computer, and stepped up behind me.
I tensed then too. Almost a panic. I hate having people behind me. It sets off every alarm bell I've got. And for good reason, looking through my history.
But he quieted the fear and the alarms and the panic.
His hand gently patted my head, and he started scratching my back, just an idle, casual bit of affection. And I melted under it.
A lifetime of living with people who never had a single good thing to say about me, who always thought I was never enough. People who saw me as a drone, meant to work tirelessly and without thanks, as if the flesh and blood and the beating heart in my chest were just for show, as if the mind housed in my skull were gold and wire and circuitry and nothing more.
And now my roommates go out of their way to assure me. To ease my fears even if they don't know they're present.
One through her words.
One through his actions.
And for the first time in my 25 years of life
I feel appreciated by the house I inhabit.
Is this what living with family is supposed to be like?

Jimmy X (GN) Reader (Request)
TW// Bullying, body shaming, dark/sensitive humor and Clyde slander.
The comments kept flittering through your head as you leaned back into the wall of your locker. A few of the girls in your class had shoved you in here and despite your size, you fit perfectly. You wipe at the tears on your face as you breathe heavily, hiccuping through the lump in your throat. You pull your phone out and scroll through your contacts and text your best friend about your situation before sighing silently. You waited patiently and anxiously for almost two hours until you hear voices in the hall.
“Help, please! I’m stuck!” You cry out, tapping your hand inside your locker door. The talking stops as high heel clicks make there closer, you mentally praise any deity that is listening.
“Hello? Who is in there?” The chirpy voice of your principal calls through the thin metal door.
“It's Y/N! I was shoved in here by a couple of rude girls this morning!” You say. The principal quickly inputs the universal locker combo and pulls open the door finally letting you out of the metal coffin. The principal quickly ushers you into her office, handing you a water bottle, and heads out to find the resource officer. While she is gone you pull out your phone, your friend had seen your message 2 hours ago and left you on read, putting your phone back down you look up as the principal and resource officer walk into the room and shut the door behind them.
“Alright Mx.Y/N, can you explain how you got into the locker?” The resource officer asks, seeing wholly done with this interaction already. You sniffle and nod before looking up at the adults.
“I had gotten off the bus this morning and Amber met me at the doors. She said that she needed to borrow my science book and that it would be better to grab it now. So we went to my locker and I got the book, but she shoved me into the locker, and I've been there until you found me.” You say, tugging your sleeves as you look up at the adults. Both the principal and resource officer had disbelieved faces on as they listened, once you finished she picks up her phone and looks at you.
“What is your mother's number? I believe you should go home for the day if you feel the need to fabricate such stories. Besides sweetheart your too big to really be in that locker.” She says, waiting for the number. You sigh annoyed at her blatant favoritism and lean back in your chair angry over her comment about your weight.
“My mother isn't in the state, ill give you my dads.” You say trying to keep the smirk off your face as you read off the number. You waited as the phone rang until a very annoyed and nasally voice pick up the phone.
“What do you want?” He asks, causing you to bite your lip to keep from laughing as the principal looks at the phone in shock.
“This is Principal Stratler from Stonewall High, we're calling in regards to your child Y/n,” She says sounding equally annoyed, theres a few beats of a pause as there's some shuffling and background conversation before the voice comes back less irritated.
“What's this pertaining to?” The nasal voice asks, and you can imagine the look on their face. The principal lets out a huff as she sits up straight.
“Your child was found in a locker this morning and decided to lie to the facility as to why they were found in there.” She says as she looks at her nails. “They proceeded to fabricate a story about how another student locked them inside when there is no real way to lock them inside due to their size.” There was a snort and a smack from the other end of the phone before an answer came through.
“So let me get this straight, Y/N says that AMBER locked them in their locker and you immediately deny the accusation because they named the head cheerleader and Because they are a little heavier than your twig cheerleaders? Makes no fucking sense. Whatever, ill be there to get them.” He says before the phone clicks off and the dial tone drones on, The principal hangs up and gives you a sharp look.
“You are leaving, grab your bag and meet your dad outside.” She says bitterly before turning in her chair to speak to the officer. You scoop your bag up and rush quickly out of the office and to the front of the building, starting your short walk home. You get halfway down the street when your phone starts ringing, you pop in an air pod before picking up the call.
“Ayo.” You say, knowing exactly who it is. There's a moment of silence on the other side of the call before all hell breaks loose.
“Y/N, I KNOW you didn't just call me your dad to get your ass out of that bull with your principal.” The Nasally voice calls through your headphones, you quickly laugh as you can hear another softer voice laughing in the background.
“Oh, but dear cousin mine, I needed help and my mom would have bitten her a new one.” you say in a sweet voice, the soft voice in the background starts laughing louder before there's a sigh from you, “But seriously, I’m sorry I dragged you into that Craig, And for the record that girl did lock me in the locker again, she's a dumb bitch” A voice in the background of Craig’s side shouts ‘Not as dumb as Clyde before a smack was herd as you laugh.
“Just tell your mom to move you back here, my dad said you can have the guest room.” He says, you sigh and shake your head.
“I'll ask,” you say as you open your front door.
*Time skip*
A knock sounds sharply at your door, you quickly walk over and yank it open.
“We're gonna be late stupid,” Craig says as he heads down the steps not giving you a second look as he flips you off over his shoulder. You quickly grab your backpack and race after him.
“How is Tweek dating you? He’s like a sun and you? You're just mean.” You whine as you gently shove his head as you duck past him. Craig playfully swings at you as you both leave the house and walk towards south park high, meeting up with tweek, Tolkien, and Jimmy. You slide over between Tweek and Jimmy, softly nudging Tweek.
“Your so nice Tweek, why are you dating my asshole cousin?” you ask playfully, Tweek laughs and twitches softly as he nudged you back.
“He’s not that bad Y/n, he's actually pretty sweet to me,” he says with a small yet twitchy smile. You open your mouth to respond when Craig gently cuffs you upside the head.
“Quit harassing my boyfriend Y/n! Get your own.” He says sassily. You playfully roll your eyes before turning to Jimmy.
“Heya Jimmy! How are you this morning?” You ask with a bright smile looking up at the boy on crutches. Even bent over he's taller than you. Jimmy gives you a bright smile and shrugs as he keeps up with his friend's pace,
“I-im good. I had speech T-therapy yesterday, so I might have overused my v-v-voice a bit.” He says with the same stutter he’s held since we were kids. “All in all my s-stu-stutter is getting better.”
“That's great Jim! Hopefully, you won't have to do the speech therapist for much longer then.” You say, a bright smile on your face. Soon you and the others reach school, Jimmy using his shoulder to keep the door open.
“After you p-pr-prince(ss).” He says with a small smirk causing your cheeks to heat up as you playfully roll your eyes.
“Why thank you, Jimmy,” you respond before entering the school, a few of your other friends wave at you as you walk to class with Jimmy and Tolkien. Classes went slow but like normal you and Jimmy passed notes as Tolkien looked on and laughed at the jokes the two of you would drag him into. Before long you and Jimmy parted from Tolkien for study hall, the two of you grabbed a table in the back of the room and continued on with your conversation.
“I was g-going to tell you a joke about B-boxing but I forgot the punch line,” Jimmy says, causing you to cackle softly, your hand over your mouth. “Wow wh-what a terrific audi-audience.” You let out a small breath before smiling at Jimmy.
“What do you call an angry carrot? A steamed veggie.” You say, laughing at your own joke, causing Jimmy to laugh at you laughing. The jokes continued on through the class until the bell for lunch rang, you and Jimmy make your way to the cafeteria but stop short at the yelling going on in the hall.
“Say that shit again to my face Clyde!” The voice of tweek reaches your ears causing you to rush around the corner before you stand Clyde looking smug at Craig and Tweek, Your cousin holding his boyfriend back from lunging at the football player.
“You heard me tweek, why don't you stop being a little bitch and stop hiding behind your boyfriend, your a sissy little gay boy.” Clyde's words look like they both stung and enraged tweek, the blonde boy tearing up is what willed you to step up.
“Shut your fucking mouth, Donovan! Didn't your mom teach you better? Oh, wait..” You call as you storm forward, your eyes full of malice. Clyde's smug smile fades and he glares before he places another smirk on his face,
“Oh look, the gays had to call in backup, everyone watch out Y/Ns gonna cause an earthquake with those thighs and how much they jiggle.” He laughs, You can feel your confidence die out as his words hit you like a fright train to the heart. At the moment the words leave Clyde's mouth all hell breaks loose, Craig releases tweek and they both lunge for Clyde as your vision blurs. You feel an arm gently pull you back until your face is gently yet comfortingly pressed into a chest, a hand lightly rubbing up and down your back, as you sniffle softly.
“Don't listen to him Y/n, h-he’s the d-dum-dumbest one here. You should know he doesn't have a brain cell in that head of his, hell he can't even do b-basic math.” Jimmy's voice is smooth and soft against the side of your head. “Besides, w-who doesn't want to be su-suff-suffocated by thighs? It's an honorable d-d-death.” This comment drew a small laugh out of your throat as you pull back and smile up at him.
“Thanks, Jimmy, I needed that.” You say as you feel light pressure on your forehead, your cheeks burn as you realize that Jimmy had just kissed your forehead. Jimmy gives you a cheeky little smile as he looks down at you.
“What do you say we skip the rest of the d-day and go get ic-ice cream?” He asks, a smile playing on his lips as you nod.
“That sounds perfect Jimmy.” You say, grabbing onto your backpack as the two of you walk out of the school, perfectly content to spend the rest of the day away from Clyde and his words.

It's time to talk about my paranormal experiences.
So this just happened. I'm still freaked out a bit as I'm writing this (which happened to be 1 in the morning).
context: I still live with my parents because housing prices suck balls. I stay up at night. There is a portal in my room. One of my friends can see them and without being there. Different friend of mine is a witch.
So a standard paranormal procedure is salt, moon water, runes, my crystal, and a protective mind bubble.
For today's story, it starts a few days ago. Story for another time but there was a dangerous creature in my room. After it was cast from the room, every time I went into my room after... my room felt hollow and empty. It's not, admittedly a bit messy.
Same night, my dad was out of town so I felt bad leaving my mom alone. I stayed at the witch's house and everything is ok. I return to my house and walk into my room and it felt hollow still. I feel like I'm being watched at night and I was even taking a risk grabbing the salt from my nightstand.
I get 8-ish hours of sleep and still feel tired when I wake up. It's like that for a couple of days except I need to take 2 hour naps and feel exhausted all the time. I thought I was catching up on missed sleep, no.
A entity in the closet is stealing my energy. Although, it's not like I've got the healthiest lifestyle either. He was also watching me and apparently at night he leaves the closet and stands near my bed and watches me sleep.
So my brother and my friends all get together to read tarot and talk about the paranormal shit going on in our lives. I got the closet guy confirmed to be there. Also, my witch friend has a creature that likes to do laundry, it's taller than me.
So tonight is the first night back knowing about closet guy and I don't quite feel safe going into my room, I walk in and it doesn't feel as hollow and dead. But I still put moon water in my humidifier, it doesn't sound like something is scratching at it like last time, I salt the floors.
Later I don't feel safe going in to sleep so I text my friend and she said he'd just be watching me and maybe I should put a sheet up in front of the closet frame (it doesn't have a door). I throw moon water and salt all over the place, turn on all the lights in my room, and put up that sheet.
Yeah, it pissed the dude off and I get a text saying to get out of the room and I do. That bitch may or may not have left a faint mark on my left arm, the mark just looks new but it's not a cut and very faint.
So I'm standing in the living room, calling my witch friend. But she was drained so she couldn't do anything to help me. I can't leave the house randomly in the middle of the night. I text my brother too, trying to think of ideas.
Yeah, I just ended up asking my mom to sleep in the living room with me. I feel safe knowing my cat is here too, I know she can sense them. If she is calm, I have reason to be.
But I don't feel him staring down the hall anymore so I might be safe for now.
Not so terrible, but I did actually see a spirit. It was a dog. But it doesn't like to be looked at.

Because the fates apparently hate my family, my bro is also staying with me and my mom until he can get enough money saved up to be able to rent a place of his own now that he has a steady, full-time job here in town.
Unfortunately, he and my (our) dad absolutely despise each other. They have NEVER gotten along at all. Like, I can remember being like seven or eight and standing in my bedroom doorway watching in HORROR as they had actual throw downs in the living room, vowing they were going to kill each other (please bear in mind, my bro is 7 years older than me, so this was when he was like 14, 15-ish years old).
Shit went down a few years ago that I'd rather not get into, my dad slugged my bro, bro called the cops on him and had him arrested, and not long after that my bro completely and totally disowned my dad. Wants nothing to do with him. "I wouldn't piss on that man if he were on fire. In fact, I'd fan the flames," is how he put it one time.
Due to the severe cold weather, I foolishly guilted my dad into bringing our other dog (and himself) down to the "new" place (I say new with quotes because we've had it 2.5 years now) where it's warm and safe and I'm not having an absolute panic attack over my 67 year old father and his 12.5 year old bloodhound surviving in a house that needs to be condemned in life threatening cold.
For the last couple of days, things have been okay, I guess. My bro went out Thursday/Friday night to plow snow, was back laaaaaaaaaaaaate late Friday night. Slept all day Saturday, slept a lot of the day Sunday and then went somewhere so he didn't have to be around my dad at all. Came home, slept, and this morning left for work at the repair shop down the street.
I got home from work a little bit ago, and my mom tells me that my dad has once again proven how big of a dick he truly is. That he apparently screamed in my mom's face that if my bro's truck was in the driveway when he got up for work, he was having it towed. That my bro is useless and lazy and "doesn't do a damn thing" around the house, just sleeps all the time, etc. My mom told him no, he wasn’t going to have my bro's truck towed, because SHE told him he could stay here and SHE is the one who lets him sleep because he needs the sleep, he's been so many years working so many odd jobs that didn't have set hours, he needs to try and get his sleep schedule straightened out. So no, my dad was NOT going to have his truck towed. To which my dad snapped back, "Just you watch me! If it's in the driveway! It's getting fucking towed!"
So my mom texted my bro and told him to park on the street. Not ideal, but it's not in the driveway, so. I told her that yeah, besides, I pay half the mortgage on the house. He wants to play that game, fine, I'm also the co-signer on HIS car, I'll call and have HIS car towed and I WON'T help him get it back out. (Of course, this was replied with, "No you WILL NOT!")
I just...I HATE how fucking TOXIC my family is!! It has always been this way. My dad always always always fought with my bro and sister. My sister fought with anyone she could, and if she wasn't fighting them, she was manipulating them to get what she wanted. She also repeatedly tried to straight up kill me when we were kids (not just the usual sibling rivalry, pick fights with someone smaller than them kind of deal, I'm talking shoved me down stairs, tried to strangle me, would put pillow cases over my head etc).
The amount of emotional and psychological and occasional physical abuse I have been through because of them is ridiculous. It's really no wonder I really don't want to deal with confrontation, but if you back me into a corner, I will come out kicking, screaming, biting, and clawing to get away.
I am deeply regretting being a good child and telling my folks I'd move back in with them to help pay for the new place. I really do. I was out on my own for like 3 years, and it was amazing! I was finally starting to heal and recover...now I'm right back at square one all because I didn't want my parents living in a deathtrap of a house. I sit upstairs in my bedroom, either playing on my phone or playing Sims. I rarely sit out in my own living room because it opens down into their living room, so I can't watch anything on my TV or play games without it interrupting whatever they are watching downstairs. It is an absolute shit position I have put myself in all because I am a good person and want to help my family in any way I can.

 Error went up to wake up the kids although appeared outside Ink’s door a bit later, holding Pic “Ink, have you seen Gradient? His phone is in the living room and he’s not in the house."
"I haven't," Ink turned to him. "That's... worrying. Should I try to go find him?"
“Stains texting an apparent friend of Gradients, who I had no idea about, but he doesn’t just… walk off,” Error whispered, worried
"I know, do you want me to go look for him?"
“I’ll look… just take care of Dream okay?” Error was stressed but didn’t want to pull Ink away from Dream, what he was doing.
“Shit! Dad! Papa! He was in outertale but Meteor said he woke up and said he was coming home over an hour ago!” Stain called, rushing in.
Ink started to worry a bit more, looking from Stain to Error, "Ruru, do you think..."
“I do not know…” Error looked frozen where he stood
"I can have Cross get Dream the painkillers if we go look..."
“Okay… okay…” Error whispered and Stain reached out to him.
“I’m sure he’s safe, he’s… he’s gotta be."
Ink nodded, "But there's no harm in checking..."
“Exactly,” Error still seemed slightly out of it as he wrapped an arm around Stain. Stain reached over and took Pic from error before leaning into his papa
"So I'll go check outertale? Or we both do?"
“Let’s go together,” Error whispered. In the rare chance something HAD happened, Error didn’t want either of them to discover that alone
Ink nodded, moving to leave the room, "I'll go tell Cross what to do for Dream..."
He spoke once he got downstairs, "Cross..."
Cross looked up from where he’d decided to help out and get most of the kids started with eating
"I need you to take care of Dream... when he wakes up, give him a couple of these..." Ink handed him a bottle of the painkillers PJ had brought. "Error and I have an issue and we need to go take care of it, but we'll be back soon..."
Cross took it and nodded.
“Okay. Is there anything else I can do to help?” He asked
"Get him some food once the painkillers kick in... he's gonna need the energy but it's gonna suck to eat with the pain..."
“Okay,” Cross nodded and Error and Stain walked over. Stain put Pic in his high chair and moved to sit down for breakfast.
Ink looked at Error, "Ready...?"
“Yes,” Error said with a certainty rarely heard
Ink nodded and opened a portal to Outertale.
Error walked through the portal, looking around immediately for his son who’d likely stick out
Ink quickly followed, closing the portal and searching for Gradient.
~~~~~
Gradient sat watching the stars from a cliff, curled up. They couldn’t see the stars at home, not easily, and he loved to watch them. After everything that happened, he didn’t feel okay going home yet. It was dumb but he’d gone to see the stars hoping it would comfort him more
Ink was fairly quick, basically looking the AU up and down, and it wasn't too long before Ink found Gradient, "Gray?"
Gradient looked over at him and smiled.
“I didn’t think you’d be awake yet…” he had no sense of time and probably didn’t realize he’d been out there for over an hour
Ink let out a sigh of relief as he walked over to him, "We thought something bad happened..."
“Oh…” Gradient gulped and looked back out at the stars, “I guess I forgot my phone at home, didn’t I?”
Ink nodded, "And it's been an hour... or longer... something like that..."
“OH… oh umm… that’s not what I meant to happen,” he laughed before gulping. “The stars are really pretty, aren’t they?”
Ink looked up at the sky before nodding slightly, "They are..."
“Do you think we could have stars at home?”
"We can, it just might take me a bit... it's not easy to adjust an entire sky..."
“Okay,” Gradient sighed and pulled himself to his feet
Ink offered to help him up, "Just remind me if I seem to forget... I promise I'll do it..."
“Thank you dad… I’m sorry that I just sorta disappeared."
"It's alright... you just worried us... but we're glad that you're safe..."
Gradient leaned forward to hug his dad, yelping and moving back when he realized the wings were there.
Ink was a little surprised before remembering said wings, "Oh- I forgot I have those now."
“Yea, how did those happen?” Gradient asked, smiling inquisitively
"The creators said I earned them, somehow. Not sure how but I think it's why they were so loud yesterday."
“Well that's… nice… isn’t it?” Gradient whispered, looking up when Error came running over, seeming relieved to see his son
"I... I think so?"
Gradient smiled weakly and was pulled into Error's arms.
Ink just seemed glad that Gradient was safe, smiling a bit as he watched him and Error.
“Don’t you dare do something like that, I thought-“ Error was cut off by his son who just shook his head. “I’m okay, papa."
"Ruru, all that matters right now is that he's safe..."
“You’re right… you’re right… let’s get back,” he sighed, keeping Gradient at his side
Ink nodded, opening a portal back home.
Error walked through, pulling Gradient with him
Ink followed, closing it behind them with a sigh, "But, really... please don't do something like that again, Gray... especially after yesterday..."
“I know… I didn’t mean to. I planned on just going to Meteor’s but I couldn’t go home this morning…”
"Meteor...?"
“Oh umm…” Gradient looked away as he realized that he’d never told his parents, not about Meteor
"It's alright, don't worry... just... maybe take your phone next time...?"
“I will,” Gradient nodded, looking down at his hands
"Thank you..." he moved to hug Gradient.
Tumblr media
March 2017
Carrie threw the baseball back to Jason. As she did, a wave of nausea came over her and her mouth began to water.
Uh oh.
She got up immediately from her crouch and ran over to the nearest garbage can. She tossed her mask somewhere to the side. Before she knew it she was emptying her stomach from the small breakfast she had forced herself to down a couple hours ago. A few teammates voiced some disgusted remarks but Carrie couldn’t hear it over the sound of her retching.
“Alright, that’s enough.” Coach Williams came up behind her. “You okay, kid?”
Carrie stood up straight, wiping her mouth with her long sleeve. “I’m fine, Coach.”
 “You don’t look fine to me, Carrie,” he told her. “You said you were feeling better-”
“And I was… or at least I thought I was.”
He looked at her for a few moments. “I’m calling your dad.”
“What? Coach, come on.”
“No, Carrie. I need you in top shape and not spreading whatever you have in case it is something. I’m sorry.” He walked off to call her dad. She huffed.
A few of her teammates walked over to her.
“What’s going on?” Asher, their third baseman, asked.
“I think Williams is sending me home.”
“Lucky.”
“No, not lucky, Ash. I can’t afford to be away from here if I want to make it.”
“Can’t make it if you’re sick, CC. You might as well rest now and come back feeling better instead of running yourself down.” Jason commented. She threw him a dirty look.
“You know he’s right.”
She sighed. He was.
“Coach is coming back.” Everyone scattered.
“Alright, your dad said he’ll come and pick you up. In the meantime, get your gear off and settle down. I mean it, Carina. Not even stretching, just sit down.”
-
“I booked an appointment for you with Dr. Patel tomorrow at 11am, is that okay?”
“Yeah, that’s fine. Thanks dad.”
She went up the stairs with her duffel bag in tow. It was only 10, which meant Beckett would still  be in class. Carrie decided to send him a text, asking him to give her a call when he was finished. She knew for this day his class wouldn’t finish until noon so it was a surprise to her when her phone lit up with a FaceTime notification not even thirty seconds after sending the text. Carrie hit the green ‘Accept’ button and laid down on her bed.
“My girl’s ditching practice? Scandalous.” Were the first words out of Beckett’s mouth.
“Fuck off, Beck. No I didn’t and I could say the same for you. Why aren’t you in class?”
“Why aren’t you at practice?”
“I threw up and coach sent me home. What about you?”
“You threw up? Why? Did you eat something off?” Worry filled Beckett’s tone and his face.
“I’m fine. I think it’s just my period. Now why aren’t you in class?”
“Prof had a family emergency and had to cancel last minute so I am free until 2.” “Nice.”
Beckett caught Carrie up on his week. She watched as his face became animated while telling her the stories he’d kept in so he could tell her whenever they caught up. They hadn’t been able to talk face to face until now thanks to the exams Beckett had earlier in the week. The two of them missed each other fiercely.
“Oh, I got a notification that my package is getting delivered today.” Beckett mentioned. Carrie’s eyebrows knitted together.
“Package?”
“I sent you something. You’ll love it.”
“Hm. I better.”
They lapsed into a comfortable silence as Beckett worked on his notes while Carrie browsed through her laptop. At some point, she looked back at her phone and found Beckett already looking at her with a heated expression on his face. It made her stomach flip.
“Don’t.” She warned.
“‘Don’t’ what? I didn’t do anything.”
“Uh huh. I know that look, Beck. My dad’s home and you have to leave for class.”
He groaned.
“I hate that you’re right.”
“You love me.”
“Yeah I do and you love me too.”
“Mhmm. Now get ready for class, I promise I’ll call you when I get home from work, okay?”
“Okay, okay.”
-
Carrie sat in the examination room with one leg crossed over the other. She had gone to this appointment by herself, as she had been doing since she was 16. Her parents would only accompany her if she asked. After about ten minutes of waiting, Dr. Patel strode in. Carrie sat up straight in her chair.
“Hi Carrie.” she greeted.
“Hi Dr. Patel.”
The doctor took her spot at her desk, placing her stethoscope in front of her. She took her time in logging into her computer and finding Carrie’s electronic chart.
“So what brings you in today?”
She listed off what she had been feeling, from the nausea and vomiting to the fatigue among other symptoms. Dr. Patel’s hands faltered over the keyboard for a quick second before she quickly resumed typing but the action hadn’t been missed by Carrie. The MD swung around in her chair, fully facing her.
“Are you sexually active?”
“Um, my first time was in the beginning of February.”
“Was it penetrative?”
Carrie nodded.
“Did you or your partner use any protection?”
She shook her head. “N-no. I mean he offered but- I- I’m on birth control.”
Dr. Patel turned back to her computer. The doctor went through the whole speech of the importance of safe sex practices but Carrie tuned her out. She couldn’t be pregnant, could she? There was no way. She couldn’t. It didn’t even occur to her that all the symptoms she was feeling were because she was pregnant. Carrie had plans, big plans, and now it felt like they were being washed down the drain thanks to her stupidity.
“Carrie.” Dr. Patel pulled her back into the conversation.
“Yeah?”
“Now we have to confirm that this is actually a pregnancy and the way we do that is with a urine sample.”
The doctor explained the process to her and handed her a little cup with an orange lid.
“I’ll ask Alanna to get you a water bottle.”
All Carrie could manage to do was nod. She sat back down in the waiting area with the sterile cup in her hand and water bottle in the other. Now or never, she thought and downed the water. It didn’t take her long before she found herself in a bathroom stall with the cup between her legs. She put on the lid and washed her hands and the bottle before returning it to one of the nurses. She sat back down and waited.
“Okay, Carrie…” Dr. Patel revealed the rectangular shaped test in her hands. It had two red lines on it. “Based on this test, it shows that you are pregnant.”
She wanted to cry. The lump in her throat grew. She looked at her doctor.
“Are you going to tell my dads?”
Dr. Patel gave her an apologetic smile and shook her head.
“Only if you want me to, but if you don’t, I can’t tell them anything. You’re of age, your health information stays private between you and I. If you want to tell them, which I believe you should do, by all means. But if you don’t want them to know, that’s fine too.”
“How- how long do I have before I make a decision?”
“Well based off of what you told me, you seem to be about a month along. There are- There are two methods you can decide between should you choose to terminate the pregnancy. If you want, you can think about what it is you want to do before we go further into this discussion.”
“No, I’d like to know now.”
“Are you sure, Carrie?”
“Yes.”
Dr. Patel then went into depth about her choices, making sure Carrie understood what she could possibly be getting herself into. Carrie found herself squeezing the fingers of one hand with the other to try and ground herself the more her doctor talked. Her head was all over the place.
“I suggest you talk about this with your parents, Carrie, before you make any big decisions. I want you to really think about it, okay?”
“I’m scared they’ll get mad at me,” she said quietly. Dr. Patel rubbed her shoulder comfortingly.
“I know this is a major life situation for you but after knowing you guys for nearly a decade now, I’m sure your parents would be understandable.”
Carrie wasn’t so sure about that. Not in this situation, at least.
“Just… talk to them sooner rather than later. The earlier you make your decision, the better, whichever route you decide to go.”
“I understand, Dr. Patel. Thank you.”
She had someone she needed to tell before her dads.
-
Carrie was curled up in her computer chair with her phone up to her ear. She tried calling Beckett once but it went unanswered. So she was trying once again. The phone rang a few times before-
“Carrie! Hi.” Catherine’s voice greeted her on the other end.
“C-Catherine?” Carrie pulled the phone away from her ear, double checking if she had even called the right person to begin with. Beckett 🍪 stared back at her.
“Yes, it’s me. Beckett was in a rush leaving for class this morning and left his phone on the kitchen counter.”
“Of course he did.”
“Is there something you need?”
“Um, well…”
She could trust Catherine, right? She was basically family to Carrie, having known her her whole life. She could trust Catherine with this information.
“I, uh, I had a doctor’s appointment today.”
“Oh, is everything okay?”
“Yeah, yeah. I just… I found out I’m… pregnant.” She still didn’t believe it when it came out of her own mouth. There was silence on the other end. “Catherine?”
“Why does Beckett need to know?” Carrie clocked the immediate change in her tone of voice. She sat up straight in her chair, planting her feet on the hardwood. Carrie knew deep down she should’ve stopped talking right then and there but she couldn’t.
“Because it’s his.”
“Excuse me?”
“I’m pregnant with Beckett’s baby.”
“How did this happen?”
“The night before you guys left for Boston, that’s how.”
There was more silence on Catherine’s end.
“I can just call Beck later when he’s home-”
“You will do no such thing, Carina.”
It was Carrie’s turn to be surprised.
“Excuse me?”
“Sweetie, we just moved here. Michael’s started his job and Beckett’s just started school. He may not have been able to make Northeastern’s baseball team this year but things look promising for his junior year, Carrie. You know what I mean?”
“I don’t-”
“No, of course you don’t because you’ve been so focused on your goals that you haven’t paid attention to Beckett’s. He wants the same thing as you, Carrie.”
Carrie was shocked to say the least. Where did this sudden change in attitude come from? She had never known Catherine to be aggressive or abrasive. In all her 18 (almost 19) years on this earth, she had yet to even hear the woman yell. She thinks yelling would’ve been better than this condescending tone she was using on Carrie. She was so utterly confused; the whole conversation didn’t feel real.
“Catherine, I-”
“Don’t tell Beckett, okay? Whatever you choose, and I hope you choose correctly, you better leave him out of it.”
And the line went dead.
Carrie sat at her desk, unable to move. She didn’t know how long she stayed in that position for; it could’ve been seconds, it could’ve been minutes, could’ve been hours. When she finally did move, she did so to do one thing. She blocked Beckett. On everything.
If his mom didn’t want him to know, he wasn’t going to. She was going to make sure of it.
-
Carrie didn’t tell her parents on the day of her appointment. Or the day after that. Or even the day after that one, for that matter. She kept her secret locked down inside of her so tightly that she barely said a word to her dads for a week. A week. They knew something was up. She knew that they knew something was up. They couldn’t take it anymore.
“Okay, enough of this.” Her papa said over breakfast. “What’s going on with you, Carina?”
She was halfway through cutting her pancakes. Her hands began to sweat over the knife and fork. Her heart raced inside her chest. When she looked up, she found both her dad and papa looking at her expectantly.
“What do you mean?” She was looking at them with wide eyes.
“That look on your face like you’re guilty of something and the fact that we haven’t had a proper conversation with you in a week.” Her dad answered. “That’s what we mean.”
No, this couldn’t be happening, she said inside her head.
Well it is, a voice answered.
I’m not ready.
You have to tell them. They can’t not know.
They were waiting for her to say something. Now or never.
Carrie put down her utensils and leaned back in her chair. She took a breath in and let it out.
“I’m pregnant.” She hadn’t said those words since she said them to Catherine the previous week. It still didn’t feel real.
She looked at them, they looked back. No one said a word.
“How did this happen?” her dad asked.
Carrie shook her head. Andrew’s eyebrows raised.
“What do you mean no, Carina?” He raised his voice. Her eyes went even wider. He pushed his chair back and stood up. Andrew paced behind her papa.
“We talked about this, did we not? That was the one thing we wanted you to take away from our talks! Use protection!” Carrie flinched at the sound of his yelling. She could feel the tears coming up to the surface of her eyes.
“I thought we’d be okay!”
Andrew shook his head this time, indignant. He put his hands on his hips.
“Who is it?”
“Who’s who?”
“I know you know what I’m asking, Carina. Don’t act dumb. Who’s the dad?”
Carrie shook her head again. No one was going to know.
“Carina!” he shouted.
That’s when she started crying. There was no stopping the tears from openly flowing down her cheeks. No matter how many times she wiped at her eyes, they just kept running down.
“Daddy, I’m sorry,” she said through her hiccups. “I’m sorry.”
Andrew didn’t even respond to her. He left the room without another word.
By that point, Carrie didn’t try to stop her crying. She let them ake over her body. She felt her papa’s arms wrap around her. He stroked her hair as she cried, hushing her every now and again.
“Ssh, anak, it’s okay. You’re okay.” He rocked her back and forth. Severino kissed her hair. Before he knew it, he was crying too. “Thank you for telling us, I’m sure it wasn’t easy for you.”
Carrie nodded against him, her entire body hiccuping.
“I know, baby. I’ll go talk to daddy, okay? He’s just- he’s processing and he’s going to need some time.”
“He hates me.”
“Daddy doesn’t hate you, Carrie.”
“He’s mad at me.”
Severino didn’t have a response for that. Carrie pulled away from her papa. When he looked at her she looked every bit like the little girl that fell off the monkey bars when she was four and his 18 year old daughter all at once. It was heartbreaking to see her so hurt. Her eyes were swollen from all the crying. He brushed her hair away from her face and the tears from her cheeks. They were still coming but they had slowed down significantly.
“I’ll talk to your dad, okay?”
Carrie nodded.
-
Severino closed the door to Carrie’s room. After breakfast he had taken her to her room and helped her lie down on her bed. He asked her if she needed anything but she promised she was fine. He walked into the kitchen and found Andrew watching TV in the living room.
“Your daughter’s resting in her room.”
He got no response from his husband.
“I know you’re upset about this, Andrew, but she feels even worse. And you yelling at her doesn’t make it any better.”
Andrew picked up the remote and muted the TV. He sighed.
“She knows she made a mistake. You don’t have to remind her, I don’t have to remind her.”
Andrew joined Severino in the kitchen, tidying up the dining table. Severino began washing the dishes while he put away the clean ones in the drying rack.
“I just- How could she be so reckless? We have told her so many times how important it is to use protection and she just didn’t.”
“She got caught up in the moment, I guess.”
“Did she tell you who it was?” Andrew reached over and put a glass container on the shelf.
“No but she didn’t need to tell me.”
Andrew looked at Severino. His husband nodded.
“So yeah.”
“Does he know?”
“I’m not sure but seeing how she reacted when you asked her who the dad was I’m going to say yes and that he didn’t take it well. But I’m just going off what she’s told and shown us so far.”
“That doesn’t seem like Beckett, though. He worships the ground she walks on.”
“I know.”
They could only wonder.
-
Carrie avoided her dad for the rest of the day, even going so far as to make a plate for dinner before everyone else and eating it in her room. She also washed her plate in her bathroom so she wouldn’t run into him. She couldn’t face him. She couldn’t stand to see the look of disappointment across his face.
Carrie thought she would be safe to bring down her plate from dinner at 2 AM. She also wanted to refill her water bottle. She was wrong. Her dad was leaning against the kitchen counter, stuffing his face with Ritz crackers. She stood in the doorway. He looked at her. She looked right back at him. Carrie was frozen where she stood. He put the box down on the counter, wiping the crumbs from his face.
“I wanted to put this away.” She lifted the plate dumbly. She quickly walked into the kitchen and put the plate back into its correct spot in the cabinet. She left as quickly as she came, or at least she wanted to until-
“Carrie, wait.”
She was almost past the doorway. She turned around.
“Yeah, dad?” She felt like crying again. He was going to yell at her again, she just knew it. She was scared.
“I’m sorry about earlier; for yelling at you, for how I reacted. I was surprised.”
“It’s- it’s okay, dad. I get it.”
Andrew noticed just how tightly she was holding herself. Her posture was rigid, arms stiff at her sides. She had her hands clenched into fists like she was waiting for a fight; like she was waiting for him to yell at her again.
“Oh, honey.”
He crossed the room and gathered her into his arms. Carrie broke down. She cried into her dad’s chest. He ran his hands up and down her back.
“I’m sorry, daddy. I’m sorry.”
“Ssh, baby. It’s okay. You don’t need to apologize for anything.”
They stood in the kitchen while Andrew held her tight.
-
Carrie was seated in Dr. Patel’s office once again, this time with her papa sat to her right and her dad standing next to her on her left. Her knee couldn’t stop bouncing.
“Carina,” her papa chided gently.
“Sorry.” She stopped and crossed one leg over the other. He took her hand into his and held it.
The past week had been filled with different conversations between the three of them and some just between Andrew and Severino. They also had to bring in Coach Williams into the conversations as well. The outcome of that one had been surprising for all of them.
(The family of three stared back at the man behind the wooden desk. They were expecting yelling, maybe some angry pacing, frustration. But not this. The man that Carina had known for a good chunk of her teenage years was smiling at her. He rarely smiled.
“Congratulations, Carrie, truly.” He said earnestly.
“Thank you?” She had all these outcomes in her head on how this meeting could have gone. This wasn’t one of them.
“I’m sorry- you’re happy for me?”
“Of course.”
“I just-” she shook her head. She couldn’t even explain herself. Coach Williams waited a few moments before speaking.
“My son was no more than a year older than you when he got his university girlfriend pregnant. I was angry and upset. Wondered how he could be so stupid. I’m sure your fathers can relate.” He looked to them both and they nodded. “My first thought was for them to get rid of the baby. It was harsh, I know. But it seemed reasonable at the time. They were so young and had their whole lives ahead of them. But they were determined to have this baby and still have the lives that they dreamed of for themselves.”
“Did they?”
He nodded, another smile making its way to his face. He turned a couple picture frames around so it would face the three of them. Carrie saw a picture of Coach Williams’ son and who she assumed was the aforementioned girlfriend holding a baby boy. The other was of a boy, no more than five years old, running towards the photographer.
“Ben and Hailey aren’t together anymore but they make it work. I thank my lucky stars that they chose to keep the baby.”
Carrie held the picture of the little boy in her hands. She wiped her eyes.
“But your plans for me-”
“Are still the plans if that’s what you want. We might have to delay them but I am determined to get you playing in the major leagues. Just give me the word.”
Carrie looked to each of her parents, then at her coach. She took a deep breath in.
“Yeah, let’s do it.”)
There was a gentle knock on the door. Dr. Patel poked her head in before fully appearing. She greeted them all.
“So, Carrie, I see you’ve brought your dads with you.” She smiled. “Have you come to a decision?”
“Yeah, I have.” She squeezed her papa’s hand. “I wanted to keep the baby.”
Dr. Patel nodded along. “Okay.”
She logged into her computer.
“I will get you connected with our office’s OBGYN, Dr. Miller. I think you’ll like her very much. I believe she’s booked up for today, but I’ll send her a message to see if she can see you tomorrow for your first appointment. It will be a lengthy one, just to let you know, since it is your first and we are playing a little bit of catch up. But I’m not too worried.”
A little blip sound came from the computer’s speakers.
“Alright…” Dr. Patel’s eyes scanned the screen. “She said she has a spot open at the end of her day at 3. Is that okay with you?”
“Yeah.”
She sent off the response back.
“Okay, perfect. 3 o’clock tomorrow with Dr. Miller.”
“Thank you.”
She was doing this.
Today was a really good day. I had a surprisingly good day at the market and I am not as exhausted as I expected to be after working both the market and at the museum. I actually feel pretty good.
I did not sleep great last night though. I woke up a few times because there was loud banging outside that startled me and then I got overheated. It wasn't even warm But the air felt stale. I asked James to take the air conditioners out of the windows today so hopefully we can get more of a cross breeze.
I forgot to set my alarm but I still woke up at 7:00. Thank you internal clock. And I would go and get dressed and I feel pretty cute. My hair is not as annoying as it has been. I fixed my part and I think that helped. And we left here and went to get McDonald's hash browns.
I was really tired once we got to the market though and and kept saying that I was being cute saying that it's impossible to work 8 hours a day. But it's feels very true. How do people do things. But I would eventually wake up and things were good.
I worked on my knitting and I made a whole bunch of sales. People were very into the stickers today. And I just had some really nice conversations with people. I also really enjoyed talking to the woman that was there with the flag house museum. And she gave me her email because she wants to sell some of my stickers in their gift shop. So that was really exciting.
It was a beautiful day though. And I really was just enjoying being outside. Making sales was just a bonus. A lot of the sales came later in the morning which was surprising. Rod sold out of his bread like really really early so I wasn't sure I was going to make any sales but more people came through and it was great. I also just really was enjoying helping people today. There was a couple people that were there for the downtown sailing center that were in wheelchairs that were dropping things and the one guy, I think his name was Dale or Darren, was really sweet to me and he was kind of overheated and asked if I could get him a couple of ice and so I went over to the nice Mexican ladies and got him that and we just chatted for a bit. And then one of the other guys who I have had conversations with many times was telling me that he was having trouble breathing and so I was like okay I'll go find your mom and so I ran into the parking lot and found her and she was like oh yeah he's just being dramatic. But she appreciated that I did that. And she was so sweet she asked about my dad because we have been talking about his prosthetic a few months ago and she remembered and I thought that was so sweet.
James texted me and asked if I could bring them a quesadilla for lunch but when I went over there they were out of tortillas. So instead they made James a crepe chorizo. And it smelled very good. I hope it tasted as good as it smelled.
I dropped that off to James inside and I finished up my last hour. I had excellent conversations with the woman from the museum about art and this piece that I recently seen about the tea towel that was used as the flag of surrender during the civil war. And it was crazy cuz neither of us ever heard of it and both of us know so much about the civil war so that was really cool to find out something new. And at 1:00 I packed up and it was time to go.
I went to go inside to find you so they weren't there and Deborah who was waiting at the front desk told me that James had gone outside so we had to go find each other and we ran into each other into the parking lot and had a big hug It was a very silly. But it was also very sweet. I love my husband so much.
I was tired but not as tired as sometimes I have been. I had a pretty easy drive back and And I ate the muffin that I got from Jenny while I was driving. When I got back here I threw some of the muffin that I did not want anymore into the grass around the trees on the side of the road for the birds. And then I came inside and I got changed and I laid down.
I watch the video for a while and eventually I did fall asleep. I woke up at 4:00 when my alarm went off and was not as dizzy as sometimes I am. And I got dressed and very soon James was home. They had a package for me. It was my lash lift kit that I bought. I'm going to try to do it tonight and I'm very nervous. But I was excited to get a package.
Before I left I sat and read all the directions and me and James talked for a few minutes. And then they went to go take the ACs out of the window and I said goodbye and headed to the museum.
When I got there I got a little annoyed when the coordinator for the event try to stop me from going to the museum because she didn't understand that I worked there even though I kept saying I'm here because I'm working the event. But it was whatever. It just kind of put a bad taste in my mouth for a moment but everyone else that I talk to tonight was lovely. I had some trouble setting up a chase because I wasn't sure what it should say. So instead I made two smaller ones. And I think it looked great and everyone that I talked to seem to really like it. But the problem was that this event was huge and was actually spanning the pavilion and the museum and the food was all over the pavilion. So while people were coming in they were mostly directly going over there after they checked in at the front. And then the people who were there to run the casino tables that they had set up didn't have any people come through by 8:00 when I left. I did have some really nice conversations with the few people that did come in but mostly it seems like the time it was all thrown off. Their schedule said that we were going to be having the museum open till 11:00 which was not ever part of the deal. And the actual casino tables weren't supposed to open till 7:30 and they didn't have a bar in the museum only over at the other place I think it was really weird. But everyone seemed to be having a great time and that's all that really matters.
I did have a very bizarre conversation with a guest. Specifically because this was a charity event for the homeless and he seemed very angry about homeless people. I don't know He's just seemed like maybe a tough love type of guy but I was a little like isn't this an event to support homeless people why are you so mad. But he was really interested in print and I was able to very gently and to the conversation and start talking to some other guests and once all the guests were gone I had a really nice conversation with the casino people and I got to tell them all about history and making and stuff and it was really cool. They were very sweet.
And then at 8:00 I went home. And that's where I am now. I'm about to go take a shower and then I'm going to attempt to use the slash kit. James is out of baseball game and it looks like we're doing very well. So I hope they're having a lot of fun.
And then tomorrow I have my class with art with a heart and I'm so excited to see peeps again. And then I'm going to have a late lunch early dinner with CJ and that's going to be awesome. I just hope that it's a really nice day. And I hope that you guys will have a great night. Sleep well everyone. Until next time.
Okay SO, it's a wall of text, so don't feel obligated to read it :'D
TL;DR-- fixing 2 sprinklers took all day for various reasons due to a couple mistakes/accidents, and we still have 2 more to do. I'm tired. And not exactly sure why I'm supposed to want to own a house when there's all this pain-in-the-ass maintenance.
Dad took today off so we could fix one (1) sprinkler that we knew was broken. I woke up at about 10am and after feeding the dogs we immediately went to work.
First, I cleaned out the "globe", the part that would normally house the filter for the water, except someone stole ours ages ago for some bizarre reason. It was disgusting :) I've never seen so many colors of algae in the same place.
Then dad went to turn the sprinkler sections on one by one to check if there were any other sprinklers that needed fixing. It's a finicky process because apparently some part of the switch already doesn't work and dad has just kind of Dealt With It, and the sprinklers sections can't really be manually turned on one by one. More like, turn one on, turn it off, wait for the water pressure to build back up again, turn it on, and hope you waited long enough for it to activate the next section rather than the one you just got done checking.
There are 5 sections of sprinklers. After going through 4 sections, we found 4 sprinklers that weren't working correctly. 2 were just not spraying water at all, which is less of an issue. 1 was not coming out of the sprinkler head correctly and was just flooding the sidewalk. And the last 1 was just shooting water straight up because the sprinkler head was completely missing. (Sometimes if the lawn guys run it over with their lawnmower, the blades just chew it up and we're not notified either bc they don't want to tell us or they just dont notice.)
Dad went to switch to the 5th sprinkler section, and nothing happened. None of the sprinklers came up at all. He figured it was a failure to switch that was the issue, apparently something that'd gone wrong with it before. It was at this point he called an irrigation professional, planning on having him look at both the switching device (idk wtf it's called) and possibly replace the sprinklers that were broken.
We had to clean up a corner of the garage (which we messily use for storage) to make it easily accessible for the sprinkler guy. He arrived just as we were finishing up sweeping the area. He went to check the pump area and showed us how the globe was cracked. And, in fact, it had only JUST cracked, he said, because the slightest crack will prevent suction and water flow. So, literally as dad was switching from the 4th section to the 5th section, the globe cracked.
He attempted a quick fix of applying glue to the crack, which KIND of worked? But not for very long, and we'd have to prime the pump every time we'd want to use it, to help it along. Dad understandably didn't want that.
Sprinkler Guy doesn't have the right globe for replacement in his truck, but knows where to get one. Dad says okay. Guy says it might take about an hour, and leaves.
He comes back roughly an hour later with the part, installs it, then we check each section of sprinklers again. They work (well, aside from the ones that are broken of course). Mom comes home from work in the meantime and goes inside. Sprinkler guy gets paid for his work, leaves, and we go inside to rest for a moment.
We have to go to Home Depot to look for sprinkler heads to replace the ones that are broken. We decide to also eat dinner while we're out. So we go to Home Depot, go to eat food, then go back home.
Me and dad go outside and start digging up the 2 sprinklers that need the most immediate fix. Dad gets a shovel/spade thing and starts shoveling, while I get my gardening spades to get in closer around the sprinkler. Dad can't bed down, so I'm kneeling or sitting on the pavement doing this. While digging up one sprinkler, we found a separate unattached sprinkler head in the dirt next to it? Like whoever have replaced it previously had just left the old one buried in the dirt rather than throwing it away.
So we get the 2 main sprinklers dug out and removed, and pull out the sprinkler head replacements. And they're the wrong size.
Dad has to go back to Home Depot while I wait and try not to make eye contact to people going on walks who are walking by the two gaping dirt holes in our lawn. It was starting to get dark.
Dad gets back and we finally start replacing the two sprinkler heads. One was rather straightforward, although it was a pain in the ass to get it to screw on straight. Then we have to replace the dirt, and put the concrete donut back in place, continuing to put dirt and sod tucked in close to everything so it doesn't move.
The second one had a part of the previous sprinkler broken off into the pipe. I try for probably 10 minutes to try to get the piece out with what tools I had, but it was stuck tight. Cylinder inside a cylinder, yknow. I go back inside, grab a couple of knives bc idk which is best for cutting the pipe, and ask my mom to come outside and bring a flashlight to hold.
Dad starts cutting the pipe, mom's holding the flashlight, and finally the pipe gets cut and we can start putting the new sprinkler in place. Same as last time, dirt and sod and the concrete donut back in place.
Then we could finally go and check the sprinklers again, switching them on and off and trying to get each section to come on so we could make sure we put the new ones in right. They came on, and the sprinklers were all put in the correct direction. The only thing we'd have to change is the distance which the water from the sprinkler covers. It shoots too far haha
Came inside, dad took his shower, I took my shower, I fed the dogs, and now I'm finally able to chill for the night =u=
He wants to change the sprinkler distance tomorrow, and I think he might want to replace the last two sprinklers tomorrow, too. We'll see.
recap: august
august was a wild ride, probably the most eventful month of the year thus far. some of the most important moments:
(mostly) free of uni i took a proper vacation from uni this month, except for working on one seminar paper about the correlation between german terms of endearment and gender (which was fascinating!). it felt good to give my brain some rest, but it also means that september will be a busy busy month.
work continues to be nice? i'm starting my new position at work tomorrow and received two (2) encouraging texts from my coworkers today!! everyone is so nice i barely mind that i'll have to work a lot more from now on.
rome this was the first time in like a decade i went on a vacation with my dad and his kids and it was really wholesome? rome is absolutely beautiful, too - we got a lot of sight seeing done. the vatican was impressive, of course (school of athens!!! coolest thing!!), but the roman forum probably left the biggest impression on me. being there made me feel small and young in the best way.
chicago how can i describe chicago? i spent ten days there at the beginning of the month/end of july and a part of me is still there, somewhere on the shore of lake michigan. this vacation was one of my all-time favourites, for so many reasons - the city, the food, the people. the person. leaving it all behind was such a hard goodbye (which the airport staff can attest to, since i cried in their faces for like 5 hours lol). i read "essays in love" by alain de botton at lollapalooza. i wrote down thoughts and impressions in a coffee shop, and in a park, and in my friend's brother's flat. i went to a baseball game, shared deep dish pizza with six people, drank malört (which. i do not recommend doing. it was gross.) leaving the city (leaving someone in the city) felt like ripping my heart in half.
anniversaries a couple days ago, it was the birthday of someone i love a lot. i hope he knows that i celebrated it with him.
now - onto september. spooky PSL season, here we come.
