Sueños de piedra (ch1)
Okay, I promised (to myself) to check out whatever media won the ultimate obscure blorbo tournament ( @who-do-i-know-this-man (I wasn't sure whether to tag you or not but in the end I figured I might as well, hope you don't mind I guess))
Turns out that it's a guy from a 2015 Spanish YA fantasy book
And turns out there's a free sample available! Which is lucky for me because I'm currently very broke
Tumblr media
Sueños de piedra by Iria G. Parente and Selene M. Pascual
I don't speak Spanish so I'm gonna rely on the translator quite a lot lmao (well I understand some Spanish actually, but definitely not enough to read a whole book)
The title translates to something like "Dreams of Stone" I think?
Once upon a time in a kingdom far, far away, a prince rewarded a wizard for helping rescue a young girl in trouble. Charming. Too bad none of this is true. In reality, the prince dreams of glory and revenge; the magician, with her spells not always being a disaster and the young woman in trouble, with fleeing from a past that torments her... and from the memory of the man she has killed. Once upon a time...
(Yes this is just Google Translate, sorry)
Okay so, prince, magician and a damsel in distress? Prince wants revenge for something, who knows what, magician is having trouble doing the magic, and the damsel is in fact a killer? Ok ok
The dedication goes as follows:
To all those who embark on a direct journey towards their dreams every day. May you always reach your destination.
Tumblr media
Okay so Marabilia is a place? That's apparently also the name of this book series. Is this like the kingdom then? So it consists of three islands, two small ones and one big? Or is it supposed to be a continent? It definitely seems too small to be a continent
I know the blorbo is called Arthmael de Silfos so I'm guessing he's from the Silfos area in the north of the big island then. I can see what's probably a city called Duan and a forest called "Merlon Forest". We also have different towers around the big island, one of which seems to be called the Tower of Black Magic. (I didn't even need to use the translator for those yay xD)
Okay the first chapter is called Arthmael so I guess we're meeting our blorbo already, which is nice
— Let me make it clear: are you going to give my crown to a bastard?
Okay..... the very first line and I already think Arthmael might be a bit of a spoiled brat (I assume he's in fact the prince)
Apparently Arthmael just found out that he has an illegitimate older brother but I guess this brother's mother is noble anyway so it's legit? I dunno yet. Arthmael thinks this guy is blackmailing his father somehow and is already considering poison as a solution
And anyway, what kind of a name is Jacques for a king?
lmao, so much shade to all the kings called Jacques
Okay so Jacques's family is very powerful and loved by the people of Silfos and the king fears a civil war if he disrespects his claim to the throne. Alright. Kinda weird since based on Arthmael's thoughts, this society has a similar attitude to bastards as in European history, but okay then. I wonder if Jacques is even actually the king's son or is this some kind of a ruse?
Arthmael is very cheeky and even references his dad's love life directly to his face, his dad is not very happy
The king tells him to just be a good boy and hopefully they'll find him some crown princess to marry so he'll get a kingdom that way
I guess these different areas on the map are kingdoms then, that makes sense. They look like very small kingdoms but this is a small place in general.
Arthmael doesn't seem to mind this idea except that there's only one possible princess like that in Marabilia and that's Ivy de Dione. Not sure what's wrong with her.
Well, who knows? Maybe, if I wait a few moons, some other bastard, in Verves or Idyll, will come out from under a rock and come offer me her hand.
Somebody's very snarky, that's cute
Arthmael is very haughty about how the people have always known him as the crown prince and accepted him as such, Jacques laughs and asks what has he even done for the people. He's like well he hasn't really done much yet because he was planning to do things once he became king, but he's been supporting the local business (taverns) and employing servants (lmao). Also apparently there are some girls he's seeing...
Apparently Jacques's family are big traders and business people (despite being noblemen) and create lots of jobs, and also big on charity, so everybody loves them
Arthmael is jealous of how proud his dad looks when Jacques says this, and how he's never looked at him like that
Well, I guess you're kind of a little shit so it makes sense, Arthmael
— If the smartest thing is to become the idol of a few starving people in order to be king, I can do it too.
Oh my god, this little brat
He declares that he's going to be a hero, to overshadow the charity of Jacques' family, because heroes are remembered by history while philanthropist aren't
So he plans to become a storybook Prince Charming, saving damsels in distress etc.
Jacques finds this understandably hilarious, the king is not amused
Once Jacques leaves, the king again offers to arrange a marriage to Arthmael, specifically with the princess of Dione
I'm almost tempted. I have never been to Dione, but they say that their ships are the lightest and fastest, and that sailors come to their shores from the other side of the sea, speaking strange languages that only they understand. Who come from lands where women wear short dresses, if they wear anything at all. Places where war is so normal that, as soon as a child is strong enough to pick up a sword, they push him to the front lines.
Alright then, I see what he fixates on
Was there anything wrong with the princess then or?
Barbarians. I remove the thought from my mind.
Oh okay. What a charming young man /s
Dione is like right next to Silfos according to the map btw, is this like one of those neighbourly feuds?
Okay he says it's because he doesn't want a foreign kingdom, he wants to keep his home, which is fair I guess
The king is like what do you want me to do, kill Jacques and his pregnant wife? And Arthmael is just like yeah great idea, because he's a dumbass. The king is like wtf
Apparently Jacques' family is from that Duan city that I noted earlier, and his mother died a few days ago and apparently "her loss is greatly felt"
The king regrets spoiling Arthmael too much, and talks about how Arthmael doesn't understand anything about suffering or anything and only cares about girls
Arthmael is already considering faking his death to make them all feel sorry, because of course he is, he's exactly that kind of guy
He says he doesn't want to go try to charm the princess, he'd rather just go off on his own (also there's a whole bit about how only a man can rule Dione or something and the king of Dione won't accept his daughter to become a ruler)
His dad tells him no, just stay here and be a good boy, don't make everybody gossip about drama in the royal family
Arthmael is like hey you managed to hide your bastard son for years, you can hide my disappearance
They fight a bit more but then Arthmael just storms out, grabs a few things from his room and leaves
a change of clothes, a bag of coins, my sword, and my favourite cloak. I do not need anything else.
Okay then, good luck I guess
To be a hero you only need a brave heart. Or so they say.
I feel like you also need to not be a selfish prick but maybe that's optional
Okay end of first chapter!
Our blorbo seems like a real brat!
But I guess the point is probably that he needs to learn some lessons along the way, or something like that, idk. I'm sure there's a reason for why whoever entered him into the tournament likes him so much
I'm guessing the damsel in distress is not the princess? Probably? She wasn't called a princess anyway. TBH she's the character I'm currently the most curious about. The next chapter is from the point of view of someone called Lynne and I hope that's her. Could be the magician too though I guess? No wait, I think the magician is a guy. Altho idk maybe Lynne could be a guy's name, I don't fucking know.
I'm guessing that Arthmael will try to rescue the damsel so he can be a hero, because that's what heroes are supposed to do, but then it'll go wrong somehow? And then the magician will get involved somehow, I have no clue.
That's all my predictions I suppose. Altho I'm guessing that Jacques might turn out to be a villain somehow, I didn't get the vibe that he was particularly great either, just not as much of a brat as Arthmael, and it would then be something for Arthmael to do when he gets back home. Then again maybe the book will surprise me, who knows. To be honest, it would feel a bit like a cop out if it turns out that the guy he hates actually is evil, but it could be handled well, and it's not like I like Jacques either so far. He seems extremely sus too
No guesses as to what the title refers to yet, it could be anything
Idk, like I said, the damsel's storyline is the one that interests me the most rn, it might actually get me to read further (good job, blurb, you got me)
I still have a surprisingly good amount of the free sample left, there's actually nine chapters here, so idk, maybe I'll keep going? We'll see
I'm pretty happy with how much I was able to follow the text even on my own, altho I definitely had to rely on the translator. I would not have had the patience to try to translate all of this myself. But I definitely understood multiple full sentences! Yaaay xD
Apologies to fans of this book series, I hope I didn't seem too rude

Alright... I can't contain my excitement. I have to talk about this. There's no waiting for the translations cause it's pretty clear.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
SIXTUS HAS DISASTER
I have suspected that King's son would have Disaster (this is before 4kota came out and when I'm still on the assumption that King's kid is gonna be named Galehaut)
And... here's the thing. From the beginning, Sixtus caught my attention, there is just something about the way Nakaba presented him that I'm like there's gotta be something about this little pink King and I'm right, here we are. I expected Mertyl to have a fight with the Chaos wizard but no Sixtus dropped in and just like his papa his entrance is now one of my favorites in the entire series.
This moment right here solidifies his placement in the narrative too, he's bound to be relevant one way or another, there's no way he isn't, unless Nakaba is being a troll to introduce Sixtus and reveal that he has Disaster only to keep him in the Fairy Realm. This also breaks the glass ceiling for the other supporting characters as well, cause baby you can't compete with this.
I've said this before, Disaster is a ridiculously terrifying power and the Spirit Spears are one of the strongest weapons in the 7ds/4kota universe second only to Excalibur itself.
There are also people that might ask, how does Sixtus even have Disaster when we know that Disaster is only given to the FK's by the ST. The answer here is simple.
King is the first Fairy King to ever have a child, it's not a huge stretch that the ST would just choose King's child to have Disaster and be the next FK, this is also a great opportunity to make the successor stronger as there will be someone to guide and train them to use Disaster.
Also, according to the ever "reliable" Google Translate. Sixtus' Spear is named "Mariatisla"
And after a quick Google search I found this:
Tumblr media
The flower Mariatistel which probably is the actual translation and where the name for the spear came from.

favorite fictional character of ALL TIME, and why? feel free to infodump :))))
Howl Jenkins!!!
Man is a disaster, and I love him.
spoilers for Howl's Moving Castle
So this dude got his PhD in magic, which is a mood. As someone who has on multiple occasions claimed that I want to write a dissertation on angels and who has a sizable library of books on alchemy, I get it. Yes. This man is smart and thoughtful and completely useless.
Then he finds a portal or something to a land where there's magic, and he can do magic, and it's all real! and he's a powerful wizard! So what's the first thing he does? He tells everyone his last name is Pendragon. ... Just for shits and giggles! No one will get the joke! He can't even explain the joke without explaining a bunch of secret things! This is just a thing he's doing! Amazing.
Then a bunch of shit is going down in the country. The prince is missing. The royal wizard is missing. The witch of the waste is flailing around causing problems. And Howl's not a bad guy, so he's quietly going out and looking for these guys, and he's setting things up so he'll be forced to face the witch of the waste. But he's very used to keeping secrets, so he's not going to explain himself to anyone. And then the king comes in ans is like, "I need you to find my brother. And kill the witch of the waste. And be my new royal wizard, because it looks like the last guy got killed or something." And even though, Howl is doing most of this anyway, his response is...Dude! That's going to get me killed! So instead of...idk, anything else, he...packs up and leaves. Moves his whole house. He's like, "Okay team, time to leave. I'm buying Sophie's old house just to be a dick. Hahahaha, don't tell her." So conflict avoidant and such a coward. I love him.
And people move into his house, and he's like, "Who's that? No, nevermind. I don't care." and then a week later he's like, "This child is Michael, my son and heir. He will inherit all my VHS tapes he can't watch and my car he can't drive." And he's like, "That old woman is Sophie, my horrible wife. I'm going to gas her up and make fun of her at the same time. She's going to help me kill the witch of the waste with her powers of being a bossy monster. My bossy monster ❤"
He has this carefully prepared persona that he displays, and that persona is awful. He's my favorite.

Title: Iron Widow
Author: Xiran Jay Zhao
Status: Keep
Series Continue: Yes
Okay. So. I’m going to preface this by saying that this has some spoilers in it. It’s only been a year so I’m aware that some people might still be on the waiting list at their library for this NYT Best Seller lol.
Anyway, sometimes I take a peep at the negative reviews on books to see if it changes my perspective and this time they absolutely did not. A lot of the negative reviews on this book have the same talking points: It feels rushed/some parts feel shoehorned in. And I agree. But you know what? Zhao does too. I remember them making a post somewhere (I follow them on both Tumblr and TikTok so it could have been either one) explaining how they had to cut back parts because it was their debut novel and in the publishing industry, the companies don’t like those novels to exceed a certain amount. Zhao, also, was not satisfied with their novel as it was published. Knowing that, I felt like I could see the parts where they cut back to fit into those guidelines. I think, if they hadn’t had to cut back, it would have been an even better book than it is.
That being said, I thought this book was great. I actually caught Zhao on TikTok and that’s what led me to reading the book (they are very funny and clever). It was an interesting premise and I enjoyed it. It felt very… refreshing, somehow? I’m not sure that’s the word I want but you know, after the inundation of vampires/werewolves/wizard schools the past few years, it was a breath of fresh air. I especially loved that the one-sidedness of the love triangle lasted maybe about a minute before all of these bi disasters decided actually no let’s be a true triangle. Good for them.
Zetian was brutality in its purest form. I love that for her. But I also loved the parts where she was vulnerable—where she allowed herself to be vulnerable in front of the men she loved. And how she refused to feel shame in front of others either. I also, for some reason, really like that she’s disabled? And it’s a focal point of the story, her constantly thinking about how she’s crippled and how it was supposed to make her desirable but all it did was make her life harder; how she’s constantly comparing her Lotus feet to the unmarred feet of her female peers and feeling envy and shame. It’s not a throwaway problem, it doesn’t get fixed, and I’m interested to see how it’s going to show up in the story in the future. I wish we could have seen Yizhi and Shimin fleshed out as much as she was, but the breadcrumbs that were dropped that I pieced together have me looking forward to maybe seeing more fleshing out in the sequel(s).
This story had so many twists and turns that I was constantly and genuinely shocked (delightfully so!) when they happened. I itched to get back to the book when I had to put it down; I wanted to know what happened next. I honestly didn’t expect the betrayal from the Black Tortoise and Shimin’s “death,” and I mourned with Zetian as soon as his qi reader hit zero. Then she actually found Qin Zheng and the yellow dragon! Piloted it herself!!! And then Shimin wasn’t dead and apparently the “gods” had saved him?! What the fuck!!!! And Yizhi simply killing his father with no remorse, no regrets. Qiu was probably the only person who figured out how Zetian truly ticked and he was so busy facing off with her that he didn’t even think his son could or would turn on him. My only beef is that Xiuying wasn’t alive to see Zetian crush her family to death, so that she could see that Zetian was stronger than her in every way.
I have more thoughts but I can’t really seem to articulate them, so I think I’ll leave this here. So bummed that the release date for Heavenly Tyrant has been pushed back, but I appreciate that Zhao is being transparent for their reasons. If pushing it back means a better story, I’m happy to wait.

Promised Legacy
Tumblr media
Summary: Aesop and Katherine Sharp are not only parents but also lovers - something that often is forgotten in busy everyday life. This OneShot tells a tale about the rekindling of passionate intimacy, the desire for another child, and promises being upheld.
Link to Ao3
He entered the kitchen, breathing in the delicious smell of cake baking in the oven.
Katherine’s slender form – clad in a summer dress and apron – moved around the room while cleaning. Her soft singing filled the air and her wavy voluminous mane, which was illuminated by the setting sun, moved with her motions; she was barefoot.
He leaned silently against the doorframe, deciding to watch her for a moment longer, not expecting the profanity leaving her lovely mouth shortly after.
She turned, feeling eyes on her, and cursed.
“Fuck! Merlin...” Her wincing was followed by a look at her raised foot, provoking a chuckle in the Potions Master.
“I told you to stop walking around barefoot.”
The dark voice was a welcome embrace to her, after having waited for him all day long. The kids, which were now playing outside in the garden, had exhausted her and made it seem like a prolonged waiting period.
Twisting her mouth she grumbled – a habit of hers he had grown to find endearing.
“It’s not the bare status of my feet which is the problem, but rather the fact that our children leave their toys wherever they walk. It would’ve hurt just the same if I had been wearing socks, and if I had worn shoes, I might’ve slipped. They truly need to learn to clean up after themselves.”
“They do”, he agreed, approaching her now to encircle her with his arms. Her hold tightened around him, pressing the feminine curves against his taller frame.
“I baked your favorite cake today, so we might enjoy it over the weekend. I hope it turned out well – Alethea and Thedore helped with it today.”
Her irritation had vanished and made room for a joyful disposition, something the wizard was fond of – the forgiving nature of his wife. He squeezed her, burrowing his nose in her soft hair; inhaling her scent. Lavender, Vanilla, Jasmin and Bergamot with a tinge of cashmere wood – all of that mingled with the sweet scent of cake surrounding them. Home, he was home.
His voice vibrated through her, once he spoke – his grasp around her still strong.
“I’m sure it will be palatable. There simply is no chance you let them do whatever they please with the ingredients.”
She grinned up at him.
“You know me well, Mr. Sharp. I had to keep them in check and prevent a disaster.”
He was about to kiss her, when running feet and loud voices announced their offspring’s presence.
“Pa’! I painted something for you!” Alethea’s declaration was followed by her brothers' frantic arm movements demanding to be picked up. “Dada!”
Aesop loosened his arms around his wife, picking up his son who was – once more – clothed in nothing but nappies. “At least you’ve decided to keep your nappies on for once, son.” He heard Katherine laugh softly behind him, knowing she was sharing his thoughts. Theodore was in the habit of walking around naked, refusing to keep his cloth nappy on while the weather was balmy.
“See!” Alethea’s warm eyes – which reminded him so much of Katherine’s - looked up hopefully at him, waving the colorful parchment in front of him. “This is us! Mama, Theodore, me and you! And you know what? I also painted another baby – look!” Her little index finger pointed at her mother’s figure on her masterpiece, which included a swollen stomach. The Potions Master looked at his wife, a question in his eyes which was answered with a humored shaking of her head.
“I have not forgotten to tell you something, it’s simply wishful thinking on our daughter’s part.”
His dark eyebrows rose, eyes now back on his daughter. “You want a whole Quidditch team of siblings, it seems.” He paused, taking in Alethea’s challenging look. “How about picking up your toys? Your mother hurt herself by stepping on one of those. If you treat them carelessly, I must conclude that you don’t like them much.”
The little witch’s eyes grew big.
“No! I do like them very much, Papa! I’ll pick them up, alright.”
“Toys!” Theodore wiggled in his arms, trying to get down to the toys, now that they had been mentioned. Aesop allowed him his freedom, putting him down carefully.
“There you go – pick up your toys and wash your hands. We’ll be waiting for you at the dinner table.”
Katherine’s instructions were given while her hands were busy taking the plates out of the cupboard. Despite her knowing domestic spells quite well by now, and despite her gratefulness for their existence and the frequent application of those, there were some things she simply preferred to do by hand. Aesop assumed it had a meditative effect on her.
“How was work today?” The question pulled him out of his reverie.
“Considering that we only had a staff meeting today and time to ready our classrooms, to prepare for the students approaching arrival, I would regard it as pleasant. I cannot claim having missed Black’s antics, but Dinah seems to have spent her time away adventurously in Brazil.”
The ash blonde witch chuckled.
“I told you about her plans. She was quite taken with the idea of exploring Castelobruxo during the break, and she mentioned looking forward to meeting Caiporas on the school grounds. Troublesome creatures.”
Aesop took the cutlery out of the cupboard, helping his witch set the table.
“Is there anything you do not memorize?”
Placing the last plate on the table, she looked over her shoulder at him; smiling.
“No.”
Their eyes met for longer than would be considered decent if in public, the expression more intense. Katherine could feel the electricity in the air.
“We should do something tonight.”
Her voice was lowered and swung with meaning, inviting him to step closer.
“ Do something? Whatever do you mean?”
Aesop’s teasing made her pout playfully.
“Engage in the act of showing physical affection. Affection husband and wife should share. If you do not know what I am referring to, I fear that I won’t be able to help you.”
He approached her from behind, his arms finding to her waist, his lips kissing her neck leisurely.
Enjoying his touch and smell, she closed her eyes; leaning back against her favorite wizard.
“Sex, darling, you want Sex. I’m more than willing to give you pleasure and seek my own. I’ve yearned to have you naked in my arms again, to see and hear your surrender. It has been far too long since I last tasted you.”
His rumbling voice still captivated her like it had done years ago, and his words did not miss their target. He was right – it had been a while since they had last shared intimacy. Nearly a month had gone by without them doing anything, because the children had been going to bed too late and the days had been rather busy. Whenever they had craved the other, something had come in between.
Her spoken words came out husky.
“I’ll ensure the children will rest earlier tonight. I cannot wait for much longer.”
As if they had called upon the devil, they were once more interrupted by hungry little humans. Their hungry little humans.
“What are we having for dinner, Mama?!” - “Dinner! Dinner!”
Two hours later they had eaten, read and played together; the children’s teeth had been brushed. Goodnight kisses were given and promises of ice cream for the next day were made, but various attempts at fleeing the bed by the children followed, nevertheless. Exasperation was growing in both adults. They loved their children – very much so – but they had been trying to take care of everything on their own, and it was simply overwhelming at times. Looking at each other with a sigh of resignation, they sat down at the bedside of their children once more. Katherine was holding Theodore’s hand, while Aesop had decided to sit on their daughter’s bed; a hand placed on top of her head.
“It’s enough. Your mother and I need to rest, and so do you. It cannot be that you think whatever you want to do is what is going to happen. Sometimes we get our will, other times we do not. Often, we want things that are not in our best interest, and this is one of those instances in your case. We care for you, which means that we must ensure you get proper sleep, and take care of ourselves, so that we have enough energy to spend joyful time with you. If you do not sleep, your body cannot grow and stay healthy, and you probably already noticed that your mother’s patience wears thin, if she does not get some time to herself, haven’t you?” Alethea twisted her mouth, attentively taking in her father’s words.
“I will make the phonograph play some music for you, but you’ll stay in bed, close your eyes and let it accompany you to sleep. You both are tired, we see it in your faces, so be assured that you’re not missing out on anything adventurous. We’re in the house and will do boring things before we ourselves lay down to bed. Sleep, little star, and dream of something nice. Tomorrow morning you can tell me about it.”
Katherine Sharp had never doubted her love for the Ex-Auror, but in such moments – moments in which she was short of losing her temper, and her husband stepped in to take control instead – her feelings for him were overwhelming. Seeing that strict man, which so often was grumpy, being patient and loving with their children, was something incomparable. Waving her wand, she pointed it at the phonograph – calm melodic sounds filling the air.
“I want to dream of mermaids! Or no! I want to dream of fairies! Wait, how about unicorns?!”
Alethea’s excitement made her mother chuckle.
“How about you try dreaming about a fairy on a unicorn, visiting her mermaid friend?”
The little eyes shone with elation.
“What a great idea, Ma!”
Looking down at Theodore, his small hand still in hers, she noticed he had already fallen asleep. His little nose, which she knew would end up looking like his father's, was touching his arm. With a smile on her lips, she leaned down to kiss his soft cheek, before pressing her own cheek against the backside of the little hand. Rising, she looked at Aesop, who had – not without a wince -risen himself.
His eyes held a softness in them that told her he had been watching her moment with Theodore; it made her feel vulnerable in a gratefulness inducing way. She was pleased that he had managed to bring out her soft side with the years, that she did not have to be in a defensive state at any time anymore, and that she was attractive to him in her feminine nature. Her life had been so completely different before Aesop – full of violence which demanded defense, rich in abuse which had made her pull up a wall, packed with a mindset that had demanded to at least partially forego her inclinations. Loss of control and exposure of vulnerability had been her greatest fears, but those had vanished with time and Aesop at her side. Now she was fulfilled in her role as a wife and mother, feeling no need to prove the world how worthy and accomplished she was, having no desire to combat everything and everyone. Nobody who knew her would dare to think her incapable of destruction, so she had learned to simply be . No mask of harsh discipline, no role of invulnerable superiority, no veil of uncaring bluntness.
She had not lost her temperament, which had always been rather fiery; she had not stopped being outspoken, or willing to engage in confrontation where needed, and she most definitely had not left behind her analytical nature which often did not suit those whose desire was to live an illusion entirely focused on emotion. Nevertheless, she had changed, and Aesop Sharp was glad to have given her a secure base to do so. He had not fallen in love with another version of herself, he had simply fallen in love with her true self and seen it hidden beneath all the covering layers.
Caressing his face lovingly, she led the way out of the room.
Hoping their daughter would finally fall asleep with the powerful help of music, they found themselves sitting near the fireplace, nipping on the wine they had decided to enjoy in place of the usual tea. Aesop’s body was relaxed for once, his arm around Katherine’s shoulders. While his thumb was drawing lazy circles on her arm, her hand enjoyed feeling the strength of his leg.
“I miss you”, she whispered. Her dark eyes found his; the fire illuminating her lovely features. His ministrations came to a hold, the hand now drawing her closer to his side. He didn’t know how long he was lost in his thoughts, while he took in her beauty, instead of answering. Her lovely lips were slightly parted, her delicate nose calling to be traced with his much more prominent one, her hair – which was inviting his touch – shone angelically, and the elegant collar bones longed to be kissed.
He did not know what he had done to deserve her and everything they had built together, but he thanked God for this best of blessings.
Finally answering he leaned in.
“I miss you just as much, Kate.”
Her appealing lips turned into a smile, her elegant yet capable hands taking his glass from him to place it on the table before them with her own. Facing him now, she took his rough hands into her softer ones, starting to investigate them first with her fingers and then with her lips.
Looking up at him from under her lashes, she let her velvet tongue glide over his palm, eliciting a sharp intake of air on his part. Pressing an open-mouthed kiss on it gave rise to a growl.
“Let me feel you tonight. I want you on me... and in me, husband.”
Rarely addressing him directly as her husband made the use of the title meaningful. It struck a chord in him – one which awoke possessiveness and protectiveness. He would take care of her like he always did and give this stunning creature the pleasure she deserved to experience. The thought of leaving her untouched, making her feel unloved, was inconceivable.
His strong hands captured her face delicately, as if she were easily breakable. Despite knowing that her porcelain skin had taken damage well over the challenging cycle of her life, he did not dare to handle her roughly – not when he was putting all of his devotion into action. Brushing his eloquent lips against her soft cheek, approaching her eager ear, he spoke – voice low and alluring.
“I will fill you. First I will adore your body, a body that Aphrodite would envy; then I will enter you slowly but forcefully, reflecting our inner disposition; and afterwards – when I moved in you, reaching places that bring you transcendental bliss – I will empty myself into you, filling you, lining you with my seed. It is that what you want from me, wife, is it not? For me to lose myself in you, gifting you another child? Oh, I saw that flicker in your eyes, when you informed me about our daughter’s wishes, Katherine, do not think me ignorant.”
Something akin to a whimper left her involuntarily, her hands gripping his sleek hair. She could feel how her body was preparing for his claiming her, how moisture between her legs was inviting his invasion. “Aesop...”, her voice was quivering; chest seeking contact with his imposing form. Wrapping herself around him by positioning herself on his lap, she locked the door and cast a silencing charm. Despite their frankness with their daughter – which included her knowing about the act of lovemaking – they did not want to expose themselves so openly.
His hands roamed over her curves; his face nestled in her bosom. She felt him inhaling deeply, before a groan left his throat, making his chest vibrate.
“You have no imagination of how alluring you are.”
Rocking against him, her hands still in his hair, she closed her eyes – her head laid back, her throat exposed.
His hands found her nipples through the fabric of her dress, provoking the strong reaction in his wife he had been expecting to receive. A forceful movement of her hips, an impassioned moan, and a strengthening grip on Aesop’s hair kept his attention secured on Katherine’s shapely breasts.
His manhood was straining against his trousers, yearning to be gripped by Katherine’s hidden garden. His self-control, which had seldomly failed him, was hanging on a thread, since he hadn’t indulged his passions for quite a while.
The womanly centre feverishly seeking contact with his masculine counterpart was clouding his thoughts, laying a veil of desire over everything.
It didn’t take long for them to dispose of their clothing. Warm pliable flesh melted against heated solid muscle; audible breathing, moaning, and sighing could be heard, just as much as groaning and soft whispering. As if the weather wanted to emulate their interplay, it started to rain outside – the raindrops falling against the windows, joining their exclamations and the moisture that was building on their bodies.
His lips did not want to part from hers; every time they attempted to, they peeled slowly from them only to close back in. His mind was lost in everything Katherine was, not thinking about how astonishing it was that he reacted to her so intensely even after all those years. He did not find anything lacking in her, nothing he would want to change. She couldn’t be close enough, so his hands pushed her against his erection – his head thrown back onto the backrest of the sofa, - eliciting a high-pitched yelp from his woman; she couldn’t feel better to him, so his hands drew her curves without having coal to immortalize them on parchment, making her the paper and muse simultaneously; she could not look nor smell better, so he made an effort to take in every detail of her beauty; drowning in her sweet aroma which called him home. He loved her – profusely and unconditionally. Joining their bodies was seldomly an act of lust alone, but a desire to lose oneself in the other; this time being no different.
Her movements became desperate, making him aware of her haunting her release by seeking friction on his erect cock. Still caught in the delirium of desire, trying to support her in her ambition, he moved her hips. It would be futile to deny that her chasing kindled his passion even further, leading to him losing the fight against attempts at being silent. He moaned in surrender.
“Use me to your satisfaction, Kate. Show me how greatly you hunger for me.”
His words ran through her like lightning. To outsiders it may have painted a picture of submission on Aesop’s part, but it was on Katherine to surrender to her souls yearning for her husband. The bidding which had left his mouth awakened the need in her to show him the dedication for him that was a constant companion. Raising her hips, she guided him to her entrance, slowly sinking down; taking him in. A moan of extraordinary pleasurable nature was shared, her walls closing around him. She felt complete in the combination of being stretched by his impalement, and his arms surrounding her. Foreheads touching each other, she began to move on top of him – his hand, which had found to the apex of her thighs, kindling the fire inside. Smelling him – masculine and enchanting – and feeling his hair-covered skin upon hers, supported her inner turmoil of enticing fantasies which fought for dominance. She gave in to the most appealing of all: Him taking pleasure from her, using her and spending himself inside of her to breed. She was the one he chose; she was the one he wanted to not only fuck but make the mother of his children; she was the one he wanted to fill up to the brim with his precious seed, she was the one he made his queen and protected with everything he could. A whimper escaped her, the rocking of her hips quickening. Her hands rove through his bearded distinctive face, up into his hair, their eyes meeting with intensity. It was difficult to comprehend how this capable intelligent man had claimed her, how he was choosing her every single day. The thought and feeling of this powerful wizard driving into her made the friction against her bud effective, shutting her eyes and letting her pale feminine body spasm in ecstasy. Feeling her inner walls gripping him firmly, her beautiful face contorted in the transcendental bliss Aesop had promised her, he had to fight to keep control. Wanting to enjoy the feeling of her for a bit longer, he indulged in her beauty and softness, bringing his hand to his nose, to breath in her arousing musky honey, which he had managed to coax out of her.
With a dexterous move, earning him a surprised intake of air followed by a chuckle from Katherine, he laid her down on the sofa, now towering above her. His eyes shone in that special way again, reminding her of the time he had approached her at Hogwarts, when he was suspecting her pregnant. Admiration – something akin to it – came closest to describing it accurately. She smiled.
“What is it?”
He shook his head slowly, his eyes not leaving her.
“You are ethereal.”
Taking his face into her hands again, she smiled – loving amusement dancing in her eyes, which so much reminded him of warming black tea.
“It would be truth and lie contemporaneously, if I would claim to never be capable of understanding how you can see me that way. Truth, because I do not see myself the way you do; lie, because I can estimate how you must see me due to my similar view of you.”
She paused.
“Well, I wouldn’t describe you as ethereal, but there is simply no way of a woman being more attracted to a man than I am to you.”
A smirk was pulling at the corners of his mouth; his eyes even now fixated on her.
“Intellectualizing everything... How very Katherine .” His gruff voice mirrored his amusement, before his facial expression turned serious once more.
Having her laying below him, her hair fanned out around her, was intoxicating. He could see the little scar above her left brow which she had gotten as a teenager, one that barely anyone else could see, unless they were searching for it in her face. He could see the little birthmark on the point of her little elegant nose. He could see the laugh lines that were starting to form, and he loved every single detail about the woman who had willingly chosen to be his companion. Stroking her forehead and gliding over her shining wavy hair, he lowered his lips to her jaw, kissing just below it.
“What would I be doing without you?”
She felt his arousal against her thigh, his warm lips at her jaw, and enjoyed his hands now on her throat. He wasn’t choking her, not today, no, he was soothing it with his thumb and making her hope he would proceed in his ministrations. She barely registered his question, wasn’t even sure if she should take it as rhetorical or answer.
“I do not want to think about that for a second, Aesop. You have me, so come into me.”
The eyes which had closed as soon as his lips had met her skin opened, begging him for union.
After one last heated look, his strong hand glid along her leg before raising it, his sex demanding entrance when it met hers. The feeling of him coming into her once again made her back leave the furniture, the sensation of him opening her overwhelming. A silent groan left him, his head seeking comfort at her neck; hair falling into his handsome aged face.
When he started moving, pushing and pulling his arousal through his wife, making sure he met the spot inside of her which never failed to make her moan exquisitely, he knew that he wouldn’t last much longer. He had needed her for too long as to be capable of resisting her pull on him for any longer; felt himself getting lost in the paradise she was to him – Eden, which welcomed him instead of being a home he had been exiled from due to his transgressions. Lowering his head to the fruit, which was not forbidden to him, he engulfed her nipple with his avid mouth – his hips moving with enthusiasm. The sounds she produced where like a heavenly choir to him, her hands on his solid buttocks grabbing and animating him. Biting his teeth together – hands tightly holding onto her – he drove himself deeper into her, meeting the entrance to her womb. The sweetest sound yet escaped her accompanied by her sex’s rhythmical dance around him. Giving in to the siren her orgasm had become, he drowned, filling her with the last he had to give – semen spilling into her as a witness to his surrender.
His body, which seconds ago had been strained in effort and anticipation, was now at ease – head lying in Katherine’s lap. His leg hurt more than he wanted to admit, having ignored it while exercising in devotion. Raising himself up with a wince, he sat beside the warm exhausted but satisfied body of his lover. Taking her hand into his, he guided it to his lips – his head resting on the backrest of the furniture. A tired smile came in response to his affection, her breathing evening out.
“I love you.”
Her voice was barely a whisper, but neither the fire crackling in the fireplace nor the rain hitting the window managed to silence it.
“I love you”, he repeated with meaning; his eyes meeting hers.
As usual they had ended up talking for hours after their shared intimacy – from politics, the state of society, and the future to come, to their children’s seemingly quick growth and what they would like to snack.
A bath later they were preparing for bed. Having checked on their offspring – which had been long asleep – the phonogram was now playing in the master bedroom. Aesop, who was lying in bed while attempting to read, looked over his glasses at his wife. She was standing at the sink of their bathroom, door open, her body clad in a lilac-coloured silken negligee. Her hair in an up-do, he saw her delicate neck and clavicle. Her hips were softly swaying with the music that was playing, while she made sure to apply cream to her pretty face.
“I know that you are watching me, Aesop. Does the book fail to entertain?”
Closing the book and taking off his glasses, he huffed.
“The book is not to blame for failing to compete with you.”
He saw her grin while she closed the door behind her.
“You had your full share of me tonight, Professor. I dare claim that a good book would be able to keep your attention for a while.”
A wave of her hand turned off the music while she climbed into the bed.
“You are mistaken. Having had you tonight only put you in your rightful place – right at the centre of my attention.”
Her eyes spoke of her adoration for him, ensuring him that his efforts at being a good husband were appreciated.
“Well, we should ensure our time spent in a state of undress doesn’t come too short”, she said with humour shortly before becoming more earnest. “I missed you terribly.”
He welcomed her into his arms, making sure her head was resting comfortably on his chest.
“Do you think I put a babe in you tonight?”
He seemed thoughtful, though not hesitant in seeking an answer.
She pressed a kiss to his chest.
“You might have. According to my calendar the possibility is quite high.”
His hand was massaging her scalp distractedly.
“The Sharp line continuing.” His voice seemed infused with wonder, acceptance and hope.
He felt her smile against his chest.
“The Sharp line continuing. I told you we would build a legacy and I intend to keep that promise.”

Chapter 1: The Book Opens
“Even miracles take a little time.” —Fairy Godmother (Cinderella)
Once upon a time, before the wishing star, was a kingdom way out in the seven seas. The kingdom of Rosas, beautiful and grand- ruled by King Magnifico, who studied sorcery to grant his subjects deepest desires. And his beautiful queen and the love of his life, Queen Amaya- who helped the King spread joy and positivity across the land. Disaster struck however, The Queen fell to illness, leaving Magnifico heartbroken and distraught as wizards, witches, mages and others failed to aid. Not only did darkness fall across the kingdom, but upon Magnifico's heart as well. The King banned wishes and dreams alike; keeping magic to himself, growing wicked and cold at his loss. Yet one soul flourished within Rosas's walls- a child born with determination and light named Asha, daughter of Tomás and Sakina who was destined to do something incredible.
"¡Abuelo! ¡Abuelo!" The little girl rushed up to her grandfather who was quick to let out a chortle as he leaned down from his chair, allowing his granddaughter to throw herself into his arms with a gleeful laugh- Sabino lifting Asha up into the air as a smile graced his wrinkling face. "Dios mío, Asha. Mira lo grande que te has puesto- look how big you've grown! What have you two been feeding her?" The old man turned to his son and his wife, who both snickered and shook their heads. "Oh, Sabino, she just has Tomás's good growth!" "¡Mi Amor! Last I checked, I am still shorter than my Brother." Laughter filled the room as Asha settled down onto her grandfather's lap, looking up at him with excitement.
"Abuelo, Did you hear what the king was going to do-!? He's about to collect more wishes! I hope he picks me!" The adult's faces showed pain for a moment, knowing their Asha was still so naive to realize how the King was. However, Sabino was quick to recover- putting on a smile and looking softly down at his granddaughter and began to speak. "Ah, Ah, No te precipites, querida nieta. Don't jump too far now!" He gently taps Asha's nose before scooping her up and walking over to a nearby window, his son and daughter-in-law joining by his side as they all look up to the night sky littered with twinkling lights and stars. Despite the darkened clouds that painted themselves against the deep hues of la luna's canvas, the moon and her star children shined brightly. The child's brown hues widened in awe before leaning her head against her grandfather's neck, enamored by the stars before jumping up- her eyes dancing around her skull as she witnessed a shooting star, even pointing with a big curious smile.
"What was that-!?" Tomás lets out a light laugh as his daughter is returned to his arms, hoisting her up onto the windowsill. "That, Mi hija, was a shooting star. Legend says that if you wish upon a shooting star, that your dreams could possibly come true." The brunette lets out a breathy woah in response, her dark hues finding themselves drawn back to the sky in anticipation only to find herself suddenly disappointed. "Isn't there going to be more...?" The kid turns her body back to her family as a frown tugs on her lips- her papá scratching the back of his neck with nervousness.
"Well..." "Asha," her mother began, "It was a miracle to see a shooting star such as this but...they only come every so often. And most of those times all the village is asleep. I know it must disappoint you, msichana mzuri, but it's...it is life. It's something you won't understand until you're a bit older." Sakina kneeled onto her knees as she took Asha's hands into her own, fiddling with the light purple sleeves of her gown. The fabric is rough, but not uncomfortable to wear upon her kin's sensitive skin- and soon a soft kiss was placed upon Asha's braids before the gorgeous dark skinned woman stands up, motioning to her daughter to get off the windowsill.
"But, don't let this be a disappointing experience! After all, there could be another one. ¡No pierdas la esperanza!" The man in golden clothes ushered his granddaughter up the stairs, Off to bed now he spoke in Spanish, a wink following behind before he turned to Asha's parents who were already in a hushed discussion. Asha stayed by the stairs before defeatedly going up to her room and plopping herself down face first in her cotton sheets with a frustrated groan. Her face then tilts itself up as a pout painted itself across her freckled face- a huff drawing from her nose before she looks over to her goat plush that her mother made her when she was a baby- a soft jingle from the small bell it dawned on its collar rang out gently with each movement, purple fabric soon meeting the wooden backboard of her bed as she looks up to her room's sky line. The stars were even more visible from here than down stairs, something Asha had noted ever since her father told her all the ancient tales of the stars, but of course some with a spin that her dear grampa added.
"Mm..." Asha closed one of her eyes, feeling them grow heaven even when she tried to rub the sleep away. "Usiku Mwewa, Valentino...Goodnight..." A yawn escaped the younglin's lips as she tried to settle down under the cover of her bed before a shooting light caught her attention. Asha was quick to shoot up- staring up at her ceiling before quickly stumbling to her balcony, pushing the doors open carefully before crawling onto the railing. Her face lit up at the sight of the array of shooting stars- hope filling her eyes as she watched the shower before all of them slowly faded from view...hugging Valentino close, she closed her eyes with a smile. "I'm going to make my dreams come true..." Her gaze falls to the stuffed animal in hand before she falls back to her bed, fully satisfied to find that maybe there was another way to get a wish granted than giving it to the king. Contently, Asha closed her eyes- ready to wake up to a new day.
"Asha...Ashaaaa~... ASHA!" The woman lets out a yelp as she jolts up from her pillows, trying to blink the tiredness out of her eyes as Dehlia slowly makes her way through the room- relying on her rose wood crutch to keep her up as she places a tray down onto Asha's littered desk, a plate of Shao Bing Jia Dan and a small cup of Dou Jiang sitting on top. The older woman lets out a small sigh as she fixes her glasses, looking down towards Asha who was already messing with her curly hair before pausing. "Thank you, Dehlia- I swear it keeps getting harder and harder to escape from my dreams. They're just so..." "Magical?" "Uh Huh-!" "Whimsical?" The ravenette raises a brow as she watches the now seventeen year old scarfing down her food and warm soy milk. "嚼(Jué), Asha, 嚼(Jué)! No need to scarf your food down-!" Dehlia placed a hand on her hip before continuing "I don't need you to choke. After all, you need to be up and well for your Birthday dinner!" at the mention of her birthday, Asha's eyes lit up, carefully sipping on her milk while setting the empty plate back down on the tray and sliding herself out of her dark purple bed. A notion that her care taker took as needing to leave the teen to get ready for the day- but not without calling from deeper within the house remember your bag.
Books dawned every wooden shelf within the lilac painted room, cursive writing in a deeper purple and some sloppy art covering one of the walls. It was... different from the home the brunette once lived in. She bent over, shoving some dirty clothes into her laundry bag before rushing to the closet and pulling at the wooden doors- rustling through an array of colored clothes. Elegant teals to bright yellows that contrasted with her skin perfectly, but none compared to Asha's favorite gown that she tugged from her every day clothes. A purple half sleeved gown that dawned a midnight purple stash around the waist, the main purple cuts off at the shoulders and mid thigh in favor of switching to a lilac color. Darker swirls dawned the edge of the dress as Asha carefully combs through her hair- staring into the mirror with an intense look, concentrating on scooping some hair cream onto her fingers and brushing it through until she was satisfied with her curls. With a hair tie, the dama gathered her brown hair into a low ponytail before urging some stray hairs away from her face. Asha gives herself a self-assured nod after a few more look overs before sliding on her sapatu and wrapping her Jua Kilemba around the back of her head prior to retrieving her laundry bag and heading out her bedroom door. But not before placing three fingers against a photo in a wooden frame, a picture of her familia, a feeble smile dawning her lips. "Nakupenda sana, mi familia." A soft snicker falls from the teen's mouth as her feet moved across the hard floor, almost knowing that her parents would've lightly chastised her for using Swahili and Spanish in the same sentence. "Today's going to be a good day..."

Nighthawk By Green-Mamba
Real Name: Kyle Richmond
First Appearance: The Avengers #69 (October 1969)
Orphaned as a child by in a racially motivated drive-by shooting, Kyle Richmond vowed to dedicate his life to stamping out white supremacy. Undergoing rigorous physical training and using his inheritance to craft an array of weapons and vehicles, Richmond became the Nighthawk, the vengeance against all who would prey on the disenfranchised.
The most controversial recruit of Hyperion's Squadron Supreme, Richmond had at first been a proponent of the Utopia Project, as he believed it was the best way to bring about the systemic change the world needed.
But when it came to forcibly reprogramming people, Richmond saw the potential it had to be used as a tool of oppression, and he left the Squadron a fugitive.
Joining together a group of like minded individuals who sought to put an end to the Utopia Project, their fight became a perilous one as the natural disasters caused by the untethering of their world with their counter-Earth worsened.
On the day of the alignment, when it was believed the two Earths would cross each other's paths in space, Richmond's redeemers intended to use the cover of the worsening earthquakes to take back the Squadron Supreme's headquarters, but fate took a different turn.
Expecting to find the halls empty as the Squadron was busy dealing with the latest natural disasters, Richmond instead found a bearded wizard in a red cloak battling to contain a giant man with green skin.
Wary of potential collateral damage, Richmond tried to intervene in their conflict before the sorcerer's dimensional mirror spell was shattered by the green goliath.
When he came to, Richmond did not find himself in the Squadron's headquarters, instead in the sorcerer's sanctum--on the counter-Earth.
It seems the sorcerer, who called himself Doctor Strange, was attempting to help the green man, called Bruce Banner, contain his anger in a phase shifted dimension, but they had accidentally ended up in the respective counter-Earth in doing so due to the alignment.
Richmond explained himself and the dire situation of his counter-Earth.
But with the alignment now passed and the unusual circumstances of the transportation not known, Richmond was now stuck in a different world as his slowly died, trapped under the tyrannical heel of the Squadron Supreme.
As Strange tries to help Nighthawk figure out a way back to his counter-Earth, Nighthawk joins his nascent Defenders team alongside the Hulk after learning that the Avengers had been hunting the green giant down for deserting them, which makes Nighthawk see the Avengers as little better than the Squadron Supreme.
Yep, another Squadron Supreme member.
Obviously if you're going to do a second one after Hyperion it has to be Nighthawk, the Squadron Supreme's answer to Batman.
But Nighthawk is a funny one--there are like at least four Nighthawks, all named Kyle Richmond, who have all had a prominent role in the Marvel comics at some point.
There is the original Squadron Sinister one who later became a hero and joined the Defenders, there is the actual proper Squadron Supreme one who lead the redeemers against them (and later died, passing his mantle to his son), there is the Supreme Power one who was a black man fighting against racists, and then there is the modern one from Mephisto's Squadron Supreme.
I decided to merge the first three together, he's a black man who fights against racists who joins the Squadron Supreme but ends up fighting against them with the redeemers and then ends up joining Doctor Strange's Defenders.
But that meant there was a lot to get through in the bio! I hope I hit all the main points.
So Nighthawk is actually the first person from Counter-Earth to cross over to the mainline Earth (as the Squadron Supreme is from Counter-Earth in my universe).
And if you're keeping track, my Defenders roster is Doctor Strange, Valkyrie, Hellcat, Nighthawk, and Hulk. This is the entire starting roster, if you're wondering.
Maybe I'll draw them all together in the future. I dunno.
But yeah. I think the two most well known looks for Nighthawk are the original Defenders' era's Nighthawk and the Supreme Power's Nighthawk.
So I tried to combine the two looks while also trying to make him look as much like Batman in silhouette as I could.
So he's got the dark blue with the yellow bird emblem and the wing like red cape of the original (plus the extendable claws!), as well as the scale armor and scary goggles of the Supreme Power's Nighthawk.
The added little "ears" on the side of the goggles help give him more of a Batman like silhouette, and yeah, I know hawks don't have points like that on their head, it makes him look more like an owl.
But that's okay.
The bird emblem took the longest to design, I originally tried to get it to look closer to his classic emblem but it just wasn't working out, so I took inspiration from Nightwing's emblem, what with the whole Batman connection.
And like I said with Hyperion, the Squadron Supreme are designed to look inherently less grounded than my normal Marvel designs, to help sell them apart.

All of this he shared with Aljari kick starting his sons equally insatiable hunger for knowledge and magical know-how. As the years went on, into Aljari teen-hood his parents argued and fought and his father would be gone longer, his mother would become drunker and his family would drift further. Once after declaring he was leaving again and on the search for an ancient necromantic artifact he left the small house and never returned. Aljari’s mother fed up with him and all things magic could only frown, sob and complain at her sons shared love for the art. As Aljari’s magical power grew his mother’s distaste and fear of the skills. The arguments became more and more frequent between them, She wished her one and only son would focus on his future, on running the family business, on starting his own family but no. He just had to run around playing with wands and robes.
Aljari told her himself that his love for magic and wizardry surpassed his love for her and if he must choose between the art and his home life then his mind had been made up long ago. At the age of twenty he leaves home for the final time and begins his life as an adventurer. Life is not easy for him. A young man who’s so accustomed to the privileges of such a bustling city would not survive out in the world on his own, this is true usually but somehow, with his wit and intellect- as well as his proficiency with most hand weapons, he lives. He thieves, he earns and he prospers until one strange day…he wakes up in a mind flayer’s ship.

10 Songs, 10 People
Was tagged by the pleasant @mrbexwrites whom graced us with her songs
Rules: Put your music on shuffle and list the first 10 songs that come up. Then go about describing how they relate to your WIP and or worldbuilding.
In truth I do not have a designated Lexical playlist, but what I do have is one massive playlist of songs that I can easily relate to characters/worldbuilding. I will admit to cheating and skipping a few songs due to irreverence or for being clown core.
Soft tagging: @rewritingrosie @squarebracket-trick @artcoffeecats @vicstmichael @sam-glade and whomever else wishes to join in.
Hero - 11vx
Wonderfully upbeat and woefully short. I always have seen this song as the theme that would play around the protagonist's "turning point" in Lexical. When they make a connection with their Inscription that lets them overcome something, or finding a weakness or solution to a situation. The title really says it all.
The Stains of Time - Kit Walters
It's video game music, it's MGRR, it's fight music. Specifically I'd say it's villain centric fighting music. I've got this character in my head who connects the concepts of water and time whom I could easily see this song fully being about. Where Hero is about the protag winning, Stains of Time is about Villains hamming it up.
Little Lion Man - Mumford and Sons
Ken, Host of Fangs, Lord of Hearts. No Inscribed has had an easy life. This one's life is full of regret, broken relationships, and estranged family. Like several Lexical characters he began his existence as the protagonist of his own story and has gone through several iterations; he has landed as a semi-significant side story of the Stage City campaign I'm running. "I really fucked it up this time, didn't I my dear?" perfectly fits him.
Gunman/Blotter - sageiskami
Hey it's more fight music! Specifically fight music that samples a literal fighting game. It's violence turned into entertainment for the ones doing it; and that doesn't describe any character better than it does Model Tom. She's a Shape of Flesh, a shapeshifter, a sociopath, and absolutely having such a fun time being a villain. He's extremely fun to roleplay as in Staged City, which is a slightly worrying statement.
Children of the Omnisiah - Guillam Davis
A haunting church choir with a back drop of electronic noise. I've come to associate electronic elements in songs with the Wyrd side of Lexical; and with it, this song goes with the Angels of Heaven. Invasive creatures from the edge of human imagination come to reap the souls of humanity and remind them of the gods they used to worship.
Bright Shadow - Hydelic
A comparatively (mostly) calmer piece. Wind, gears, windmills, nature, and the connective rhythm that ties them together. I find this song ties closely to the magic practitioners of Lexical, especially to one specific one: Richard Dahlmann. He comes from a long family of magicians, will workers who tame the Wyrd without ever fully giving one's self to it. A proud Old Warden. Fully human but able to play a song and have the world listen.
Numb - Freya Cathine, Jack Victor
There is a certain amount of humor and irony to this song I can't ignore, but read straight this song could easily be sung by Joshua of Broken Whole. Most of his life is inescapably about his relationship with his father. At first all his actions as a way to escape from under his father's influence; then during the story itself facing the same life his father had and attempting to do different. "To be more like me, and less like you" Joshua says into a mirror.
Fire Fire - Steam Power Giraffe
A song about a burning disaster and the affect it has on the survivor. The Wardens, Old and New, have attempted to keep Earth and humanity from itself for as long as recorded history. Whether it's the secret society of wyrdlings and wizards of the Old or the Inscribed costumed heroes of the New, history rhymes with itself. Disaster comes regardless of anyone's attempt to stop it, and those that manage to live through it can never fully walk away from the memories. Despite their good deeds and their heroism the history of the Wardens is full of failure and an inability to meaningfully save the world.
Hajnal - Venetian Snares
I love this, easily one of my favorite songs. In the context of Lexical it describes the First Wave, the several thousand first Inscribed. Those troubled individuals who woke up to a world carefully playing along to an old tune strung by those in power, and shattering it with drums and electronics. The First Wave marked the end of many things: mainly the Old Wardens, the Wyrd masquerade, and most world governments. It's hard to maintain a functional civilization when a politically charged maniac who can manifest explosions targets effectively any head of state. The First Wave turned Lexical into the Earth it now is, forever changing it's music.
No one is Flying the Plane - Panzerballett
Another favorite of mine. Organized discordant chaos held together by an underlying beat. This is the theme of the Staged City, the story of New Maine buckling underneath the unrelenting crises that plague it. Of course it's also specifically about one character, the BBEG of the campaign, one underlying beat of the song: (spoilers ahead for Staged City) The Baron. Nothing is actually happening naturally, everything is a stage being prepared for this one villain.

I'll be honest, I don't know much abt lotr, but!!! for the text game you're putting together, what has been your favourite date and/or route you've written so far? + as an addition, if you'd like, what are things you admire/love abt any character of your choosing? (I hope you're doing okay bestie, I'm sorry you're having a rough night 💖)
haugh thank you dude i am. feeling more grounded now (and my hand stopped hurting so i Didn't actually burn it, yayyy) but gods that was bad for a hot minute
ummmm my favorite thing ive written is probs tied between Éomer's 2B date (go to a celebratory bonfire w/ him) because there's a lot of silliness, it's just very lighthearted + cute!! or Faramir's first date?? it's actually hard to pick a specific date bc Faramir is just very fun to write. I adore him so much lol — his first date's a little library meetcute and you get to give him a kiss on the nose and listen to him be So autistic about Really Old Texts (it's what he deserves)
uuuuuuuuuuu well u know as a Boromir Guy. a certified Boromir Enjoyer. Enjoyer of Boromir. there's just. oagh theres so much. I was rewatching th Osgiliath scene again for reasons (quotin it for sth i think) and the way he behaves with Faramir vs how he behaves with Denethor is so. im DERANGED i need to sit down w/ Sean Bean and talk abt Boromir for fucking hours. the way he prepares himself to have to speak w/ his father, the disbelieving shake of his head at Denethor's "I know his uses and they are few" line about Faramir. the "one more moment of peace can he not give us that" line. "the victory is Faramir's as well" and he's grinning, his nod of encouragement, motioning Faramir over because he's RIGHT and Faramir's achievements deserve to be recognized and they're fighting fucking FORCES OF MORDOR so how could he possibly blame his brother for Osgiliath falling? they reclaimed it and they're alive and that's cause for celebration! im so.
Boromir son of Denethor seeing the best in people. when he could so easily and so understandably be completely fucking pessimistic. He is ON THE FRONTLINES he would have every excuse to be a bitter jaded asshole having grown up with the sole purpose of being a soldier. he lives only to serve!!! and he lives watching the people he is supposed to safeguard suffering and dying, watching the darkness of Mordor spread with little hope of vanquishing it, only keeping it at bay for a time. it has been long since he had any hope!!!!!! and yet the victory is Faramir's too! his baby brother who he is so proud of, who he sees the absolute best in, who he longs for Denethor to see the good in too because Faramir is trying his absolute fucking best and Boromir sees that!! Boromir, who sees Merry and Pippin's determination and takes the time to coach them in swordplay when others would have made them stay behind. they're only hobbits, after all. what could they do? (quite a lot, naturally, but it was Boromir at first who empowered them to be more than just tagalongs. who thought they should be more prepared and took the time and energy to make sure they were.)
there is frailty in men but there is goodness too. the world is cruel and awful and he is surrounded by violence and death. and even a wizard like Gandalf can die. but there is goodness in men. goodness in the world!! Minas Tirith is on the brink of disaster but it is beautiful and he longs to return. even diminished, she is beautiful!! and he wants to share that. he wants to share Faramir's victories. he knows firsthand how horrifically cruel the world can be but he sees the best in the people around him and he wants others to see it too. ARGH!!!!!!!!
ALSO. ive talked abt it in another post floating around somewhere but while i do love book!Faramir i think he is. kind of a nightmare person. in that he has some Deepset Prejudices that he Needs To Unpack. smacking the shit out of him with a cardboard tube.
and while i thnk there are valid criticisms to make abt movie!Faramir i do actually GENUINELY adore that he is tempted by the ring. because on one side of it, his temptation mirrors Boromir's in that it is done out of love (desire for his father's love and approval vs Boromir's love for his people) and that he overcomes it. because that is Boromir's Baby Brother and isnt the goal of it all for the younger generations to surpass the older? isn't the hope that Faramir would learn from Boromir's failures and be better? not repeat them? and he doesn't. he is flawed and he is tempted by much the same thing and yet he does not fall!! and that's not to say there's any Legitimate moral failing on either of their parts because its the fucking One Ring, but i think its just. very poignant. I genuinely prefer it way more than the book where hes all "I would NEVER take the ring!!!"
but he also has his whole "boromir died well, achieving some good, and was even more beautiful in death than in life" thing and that gets into the spirituality of middle earth and the layers of Weirdness there which im not abt to unpack on this ask. not a fan of it in the slightest. shaking Boromir's hand for being rebellious against god tho i would be too if i was living in that whole fucking sitch. if the only thing my brother could say was "idfk if he fucked up or not but he was more beautiful in death than ever so ik he died a holy death, which is preferrable" my ghost would start throwing bricks.
also, having movie!Faramir fall prey to the ring when book!Faramir is like this. paragon of grace and goodness and holiness who Cannot be tempted. idk i think especially with Aragorn grappling with his humanity and frailty as a man, having Faramir Also be tempted is sooooo. like. augh!!! it is not a failure to be tempted. you can still be Good and Gracious and Lordly and a Paragon Of Men. he is Still Faramir even though he fell prey to the call of the ring. he resisted. he let Frodo go, putting his own life at risk in the process, because he is still a Good Man even though he is flawed. even though he almost didn't. movie!Faramir my beloved!!!!!!!
LASTLY ik ive talked abt this a couple times but it is fucking DERANGED to me that Éomer is only twenty-eight in TA 3019. HE SHOULD'VE BEEN IN THE TAVEEEEEERRRNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Any other book recs bestie ?
DO I
(these are all some sort of gay FYI)
Captive Prince, by C. S. Pacat- fantasy vibes, kings and queens, no magic but it doesn't need it, three books, VERY morally grey main character, you really need to love complete assholes to enjoy this one (thankfully I do). Sword throwing, pretend identities, it's illegal to be straight, EXTREME enemies to lovers, they fucking hate each other, politics, but in a nice way, evil-plot-to-take-over-the-thrown shenanigans. EVEN MORE trigger warnings than aftg, like, so many, but nothing happens on screen. Second favorite series ever, right after aftg.
Wolfsong, by TJ Klune- Werewolves, little age gap, magic systems, found family, kinda second chance romance but not really, sad and happy, some violence, like 5 books, each with a different couple, very cheap on Amazon, you will cry.
Not Even Bones, by Rebecca Schaeffer- DARK, so dark, main characters are definitely the villains from anyone elses perspective, magical realism, sorta romance but not really, very plotty, very dramatic. For this series, I would also recommend the webtoon on Webtoon, it's free and has amazing art (but you should pick one, because there's three books and the comic is on the last one), this is another one where you really have to like bad people, or at least exceptionally morally grey people to really enjoy it. Highly recommend.
Summer Sons, by Lee Mandelo- holy shit this is so good, so dark and gritty, very Gothic-like vibes, main character is an absolute disaster being haunted by the love of his life, love interest is the definition of white trash and it's wonderful, I talk about it a little bit on here, go read it.
Damn these are all kinda dark, here's some happy ones:
Red White and Royal Blue, by Casey McQuiston- funniest book I've ever read, so gay it makes you feel like you're vomiting rainbows, a little political but it's easily ignored, rivals to friends to lovers, the movie is mid, read the book first.
The DRAMA series, by Paul Ruditiz- no one ever talks about these and it BREAKS MY HEART because it's so good, I've reread it so many times, this is for the theatre kids who want to feel seen, light and happy and fluffy, with genuine male/female friendship, and a developing relationship you never could have guessed, you can read them all in a day.
Carry On, by Rainbow Rowell- just the author's name should clue you in, imagine drarry but canon and gayer than you could imagine, vampire and wizards who cast spells with nursery rhymes, technically a trilogy but the first ones also a good stand-alone, absolutely perfect.
Song of Achilles, by Madeline Miller- I lied, this one is not just happiness and rainbows, a retelling of the tale of Achilles, read when you're in a good spot or you'll jump off a roof, but still go read it because it's something special, a future classic without a doubt (also go listen to Achilles Come Down on YouTube, it'll put you in the right mood)
That should keep you occupied for a min

Like You'd Know How It Works (42k) by @mshermia
Straight after the battle is won - or lost, depending on your perspective - Peter tries to convince the Avengers to save Mr Stark by going back into the Quantum Realm
Part 1 of Like You'd Know How It Works and what comes after
doomed to repeat (or are we?) (29k, Incomplete) by itsthechocopuff
after dying in space, Tony wakes up - still dying - in Siberia. Bitter, tired, determined and six years younger, he sets out to make some noise.
(Or: Tony schmoozes, gains ally, adopts all the kids, kicks ass, falls in love, and saves the world. again.)
Be careful what you wish for, you may just get it (152k, Incomplete) by Savana_Marlark
A snap.
A gauntlet.
A dying man's regret.
It is a dangerous thing to wish with infinity stones on your fist.
Sent back to the sands of Afghanistan, Tony Stark has a world to fix, and a Titan to stop, but he won't be doing it alone.
The End of Infinity (909k, Incomplete) by FriendlyNeighborhoodFangirls
In 2023, the battle for the universe has been won. At a cost no one can forget, the fight is over—for all but one.
Stephen Strange has an idea. An impossible idea spanning dimensions and timelines, life and death, and the lines of good and evil. But he's played impossible odds before—perhaps he never stopped.
All that Loki wanted was to fight, one last time, for the fate of his universe. So when he finds himself fighting for another, crashing into the past, he has a few intended words for the wizard that forced him there but not before he finds a boy. Or, more accurately, before the boy finds him.
Peter Parker has been waiting for the next mission. He just doesn't expect it to come from the future, armed with a ridiculous story demanding a ridiculous quest. And he doesn't expect to be able to tell Mr Stark.
Tony Stark is trying to rebuild from the Civil War, knowing that someday, something will come that he needs to be ready for. And he doesn't know it yet, but two universes are trying to rebuild around him, and that something is already here.
Seven Stones. Five dead. Two universes. And one impossible quest to tie it all back together.
Time Will Tell (166k) by @tonystarkissistist
So... some weird stuff is going on. First the dreams, then Peter calls him Dad, and now everyone is convinced Peter is his illegitimate son. What a day.
If only things could get even crazier... oh wait...
Wish We Could Turn Back Time (64k) by Girlinpink44
With a snap of his fingers, Tony Stark finds himself with the chance to change everything. Armed with foreknowledge and his found family, can he figure out a way to stop Thanos before he snaps? They say hindsight is 20/20 and Tony is about to find out how true that really is.
Part 1 of Turn Back Time
Endgame 2.0 (43k) by sketchibilitea
Peter Parker remembers it all.
Remembers aliens, Titan, Thanos, the stones.
Remembers every atom in his body splitting, and the agony that followed. He Remembers looking up at his mentor's grief-stricken eyes and muttering a small 'I'm sorry' before he was one with the wind.
He was gone. But now he has the chance to take that all back.
Today, Peter Parker can make a difference.
code my love, soul born (39k) by graveltotempo
The Avengers win, Thanos dies and the Dusted are back. Many would say that this is a happy ending. Doctor Strange is not among the many, and neither is FRIDAY.
Enter the love for a man long gone, an uncertain future, dangerously powerful sorcerers, an AI who would do anything to get her boss back, six Infinity Stones and mix it with sheer stubbornness and time travel and you have a recipe for certain disaster.
What could possibly go wrong?
Part 1 of FRIDAY ex-machina
Time to Pretend (38k) by Rowan_M
A villain attacking New York sends an injured Peter back in time to the year 2000. Not knowing how to get home, Peter asks Tony Stark for help and ends up finding out a lot about his and Tony's past. Peter is given an opportunity to change the future or leave things be.
Part 1 of A Matter of Time
Spiegel im Spiegel (31k) by sahiya
"Ah HA!” Tony exclaimed, throwing his arms up. “So the multiverse is real! Rhodey and I used to argue about that at MIT, but I never thought I’d actually win the bet. Though it might be a little tough to collect on it now. Unless... does this universe have a Rhodey? Does this universe have a me? Can I meet myself?”
“This universe does indeed have a Colonel James Rhodes,” Strange said. “And it also possesses its own version of yourself. But no, you can’t meet him.”
“Why not?” Tony demanded. “Would it implode the universe? Destroy the space-time continuum?”
“None of that. You cannot meet him because this universe’s Tony Stark has been dead for fifteen months.”
Part 1 of Spiegel im Spiegel
Through Space (30k) by graveltotempo
The Universe needs the Infinity Stones to survive: Thanos, in his complete ignorance, does not understand this in any of the 14,000,605 futures Doctor Strange sees, does not see this in any of the parallel Universes in which he goes looking for the stones. So, Doctor Strange makes the biggest gamble of his life, and puts all his eggs in one basket. And then hands the basket into the hands that, across time and through space, will always charge themselves with the protection of the Earth.
+++
Anthony Edward Stark fell into the abyss of the broken universe in the spring of 2018 and died.
Antoinette Evelyn Stark woke up in her bed in December 1991 with almost 3 decades worth of foresight, in a world she didn't quite remember with one single goal: save the Universe.
Part 1 of spread your wings, Guardians of Infinity: a second chance
Peter and Morgan's 40-Year-Long-Day (26k) by thisMarvelousLife
Morgan is far too clever for her own good. She knows that the infinity stones can do anything, so surely they'd let her see her dad again.
Peter never planned on using the stones, he just wanted to keep Morgan out of trouble.
(The time-travel fix-it fic in which Tony lived his life with his kids from the future showing up at random intervals thanks to time stone shenanigans)
Back to the Future Rules Apply (100k) by @atypical-snowman
In the original timeline, Loki never pulled a knife on Thanos. In the original timeline, Stephen stopped at 5,371 futures, and Thor went for the head.
In the original timeline, Thanos lost.
The universe cannot survive without the Infinity Stones. As the last living Stone keeper, Stephen is called to undo what Thanos did.
Racing through time and space, Stephen must find a way to save the universe. Tony must find a way to save Stephen.
surprise! sorry I disappeared I'm back now, (mostly). Enjoy reading and don't forget to leave a comment and kudos!

Homeland by RA Salvatore Liveblog
Help, I have fallen back into the Drizzt pit and can't get up.
Under a cut for child abuse and attempted sexual assault.
I'm copy-pasting this from discord. Ellipses differentiate liveblogs that were done at different times.
I'm rereading the first Drizzt novel. It was one of the book series I loved loved loved when I was young. I am simultaneously going:
oh my God, this world building. Your legal system cannot run on vibes, sir. The implied gender ratio is hilarious (drow nobles want lots of kids, but every son after the second is killed, so a family having four daughters and two sons is pretty normal. Oh, and it's implied that polyandry is a Status Symbol)
oof ow argh, man hands misery onto man! It deepens like a coastal shelf! 😭
I'm still at the beginning, but drizzt is being raised by his older sister, and she is heavily encouraged to physically abuse him. There's a point where she thinks "wow, what could this kid achieve if we weren't breaking his spirit. ... wait, that's a blasphemous thought, I should punish him for making me think that." And Drizzt is taught to believe that surface elves are the source of all of his problems, to the point that whenever he's whipped he "cries out for the death of a [surface elf]" These people all could have been fine if they lived in a reasonable society! 😭
The book is divided into parts, and at the beginning of each part there's a section of Drizzt monologing as if he's giving an interview
And in the one where he's talking about his childhood, he both talks about PTSD-flashbacks-in-so- many-words and also "presumably things happened before I was sixteen? I remember basically none of that though" which. Baby. Let me scoop you up into a hug even though you are a century(?) old dark elf who is presumably taller than me.
...
The only way the drow gender ratio doesn't fall flat is a) the implication that commoners don't do that, so maybe their gender ratios are less of a disaster and b) it looks like only the female heads of the family can take consorts/have children, so polyandry is a little more possible
Though this does, like, raise the question of "so, you are the daughter of a matron mother, and you fall pregnant. what do you do?"
...
It's legal for a drow house to attack another in secret. It is illegal to do it openly. The justification is that Lolth likes it that way (This is a logic that underpins a lot of the drow legal system) And it could be made sensible with just one small change: Every drow house wants to be able to attack another, but wants no other house to be able to attack them. So they created norms where you can't just attack people, if you did that the whole city would fall on you ...but if you can do it with plausible deniability...
...
I have now re-witnessed the beautiful, beautiful scene where a wizard panics* and casts fireball at his own feet
*he would say he was very tactical, I do not believe him
[Seriously, I have remembered this scene fondly for years. It's Such A Scene.]
...
Oh my God Masoj just encouraged someone to take the identity of someone he [the other guy] just killed. Masoj completely failed to mention that the dead guy was his brother.
...
DRIZZT QQ
His dad just tried and failed to kill him to try and maintain his innocence.
I have so many feelings about Zaknafein.
Just. The combination of "Zaknafein was a major role model to Drizzt and is a significant part of why Drizzt is good" and "Zaknafein is Not A Very Good Person." Man.
...
Lov Drizzt
He just nearly got murdered, but he doesn't care, because KITTY!
Drizzt is this xkcd comic
...
I remembered the sex pollen scene, but man did I not remember/parse how much it was a dub-to-non con sex pollen scene
...
Something that is also getting to me on this re-read: the amount that the men of the Do'Urden family 🐛 assist with their family members whipping them, or literally taking them as a sacrifice. Because resistance would only make it worse, and this way at least you have some control
There's a really telling passage where Briza is torturing Dinin for no real reason, and he's just like. okay. i'm not going to get in the way of this process. And he actively positions himself to make it easier.
...
Help, I'm combining my love of "what if popular but misapplied blorbo song, but correctly applied?" with the Legends of Drizzt series: Eat Your Young is a valid Malice/Zaknafein song
There is no capitalism, but there is a lot of zero sum resource fights, and a lot of the conflict between these chatacters is their children being used in those zero sum resource fights.
Zaknafein has a lot of conflict about whether it's better for his son to be eaten by drow society, or dead And there's a thing where both Zaknafein and Drizzt are/are meant to be sacrifices to Lolth, at Malice's hands
Skinning the children for a war drum Putting food on the table selling bombs and guns It's quicker and easier to eat your young
And there's also the whole thing of-- Zaknafein and Malice's life is luxurious, but that's at a cost. There are no skeletons in the closet because they are displaying the skeletons openly as part of the decor
...
The Drizzt He destroyed his cage Yes YES The Drizzt is out
...
The thing about Homeland in particular is how it is simultaneously man hands on misery onto man, it deepens like a coastal shelf and how it is so much about it's opposite (it ascends like a volcano?) Drizzt could not be who is he is, could not be good, without Zaknafein.
But he's. Better than Zaknafein. Because of Zaknafein.
And there's the tragedy of the fact that if their roles were reversed, it would be Drizzt bring Zaknafein up into the light.
But. Well. Drizzt would still have to die down in the dark
...
...hmm.. I'm encountering a tempting bad idea: 50 books in a year is a doable challenge. There are 40 Drizzt books. Ergo, one could hypothetically read all the Drizzt books in one year.

50 Random Character Asks: Remus edition
You're not supposed to answer all 50 of these - but I wanted to, so I did. For wolfstar.
Remus:
1. Canon I outright reject
Remadora. Fine - it's canon he married her, but I do not accept it is canon he loved her. I can't even find evidence he liked her. She just wouldn't accept him telling her "no" and ended up marrying her out of sheer embarrassment.
2. A canon or headcanon hill I will die on
just wolfstar really - they were never a couple, in canon, but they loved each other desperately and quietly from 1971 until they died. Theirs was - quite literally - the love which dares not speak its name.
3. Obscure headcanon
His mother taught him how to skim stones, and he taught the others how to do the same. He also taught the others about sex. Purebloods don't teach that stuff - they have a mother/daughter or father/son talk the night before the wedding. The wedding night itself is usually a disaster. But the muggle practice of educating your children on sex is considered most distasteful by the wizards who know they do this, and not even considered as a possibility by vast majority of them. Hope - of course - taught Remus all about it, and he told the others. Mr. Potter was most taken aback when he tried to talk to James, the night before he married Lily, and found out he already knew what to do.
4. Favorite line
Mr Moony Presents his compliments to Professor Snape, and begs him to keep his abnormally large nose out of other people's business.
5. Best personality trait
Empathy and gentleness ... and being the master of the wry understatement.
6. Worst personality trait
A tendency to bury his head in the sand and run away from and/ or ignore his problems.
7. Age/height/weight headcanon
current age: 63 height 6' 1" weight 13.5 stone (189lbs/ 85kg)
8. Unpopular opinion about them
He's not that fussed for chocolate and he is a similar height to Sirius.
9. Scene that first made me love (or hate) the character
Probably the boggart in the wardrobe scene. It's been over 20 years since I first read POA, but I'm pretty sure my crush was already cemented in place before he reached the shrieking shack.
10. Best moment on screen (or in the book)
Every time he drops whatever he is holding when Sirius's name is brought up.
11. Faceclaim for the role
I don't like face claims.
12. Crack headcanon
His hidden talent was how high he could wee up a wall, he beat the other boys every time.
13. Dumbest thing they’ve ever done
in canon - married Tonks. In general he's quite sensible. He did go skinny dipping with the giant squid once, though (and Sirius).
14. Most heroic moment
Willingly signing up to fight in a war for a world which hated him and offered him no future just because it was the right thing to do ... twice.
15. Worst thing they’ve ever done
All variations of Snape's Worst Memory - where he refuses to challenge bad behaviour, even when he has the authority to do so, and thus allowing people he loves to terrorise, bully and humiliate other people. I don't think SWM was the only example of that.
16. Deepest darkest secret they won’t even admit to themselves
He quite likes scurrilous Rita Skeeter articles - he experiences a lot of schadenfreude from them. He hopes one day she will write one about Draco Malfoy - because that little shit used to drag Remus's robes .
17. Quotes, songs, poems, etc. that I associate with them
I don't really associate any.
18. What they’d go to see a therapist about
He's a British Boomer. He doesn't go to a therapist.
19. Vices/bad habits
He's secretive. He's learned to be for good reason - but sometimes he keeps secrets when he shouldn't.
20. Scars
Lots. There's the large, jagged, purple one with visible teeth marks around his torso - that one never fades, and then lots of smaller, silver and white, faded ones which criss-cross his chest and make his chest hair grow in strange patterns. Fortunately the wolf tends to savage the same places over and over (the bits it can easily reach), and so the damage is limited to the same few areas and the same cuts open over and over. They heal quite quickly, but the scars never fade totally. The wolf has only managed to scar its face on three occasions: the night Remus's mother died, the night Snape got into the Shrieking Shack and the first full moon after James died and Sirius was arrested. He has a few, faded scars across his face from these incidents.
21. Drink of choice (not just alcoholic)
Hot tea and red wine (not in the same cup)
22. Best physical feature
His broad shoulders and his jawline.
23. If they were a scented candle, what would they smell like?
Vanilla
24. Most annoying habit
Talking himself down.
25. 3 things they’d want to take with them if they were dropped off in the middle of nowhere
a map of the area, food and water, a waterproof cloak
26. What they would do if stuck in an elevator with [insert character of your choice from the same fandom] Umbridge - seethe quietly, and smile politely
27. Their guilty pleasure
Sirius
28. How they feel about [insert character of your choice from the same fandom] Luna Lovegood - he smiled indulgently at her conspiracy theories and felt sorry for her because she had no friends and was lonely, he always made sure he took the time to speak with her for a few minutes every lesson and if he saw her in the halls. He liked her a lot - but he thought she was nuts.
29. Eating habits
Perfectly normal - Hope raised him to have nice table manners.
30. Sleeping habits
He can fall asleep anywhere (especially when it's close to a full moon). He is neither a night owl nor a morning person. He is a sleep person.
31. If the had a tumblr what would it look like?
photos and facts about dark creatures, interspersed with Rita Skeeter -style commentary on Umbridge. He'd also reblog a lot of Luna's stuff.
32. Something guaranteed to make them smile/laugh
Sirius taking something apart so he can enchant it.
33. Something guaranteed to make them cry
stubbing his toe - but they're tears of rage as much as anything.
34. How they react when they are feeling X emotion (sad, angry, excited, scared, etc.—can specify as many as you like)
It's very hard to tell when Remus is feeling an emotion. He doesn't like to let his face know. Until he gets totally overwhelmed and then he has a full breakdown.
35. Their idea of a perfect day
Wake up early - next to Sirius, a leisurely breakfast, reading a book with a cup of tea, going for a walk in the countryside and then heading into town to people watch. Eating out (so he doesn't have to cook) walking home in the dark, holding hands and looking at the stars, and then time for the crossword, cocoa and bed.
36. Their favorite season
Summer
37. What they really think about themselves
Secretly - he's actually OK with himself and sort of quite likes himself. He feels like he should be ashamed and apologise for his very existence and not bother the normal people ... but deep down he knows it's them that's wrong and that there's nothing wrong with him. Before she died, Hope told him he was her perfect, magic little boy and she would never wish him to be any different - and he has never forgotten that. He's funny and he's clever and he keeps a very neat sock drawer - what's not to love?
38. Favorite holiday
Christmas
39. Favorite game
Monopoly
40. Favorite book
He has three he will never admit to: Hairy Snout, Human Heart - by an unknown werewolf author; Gadding with Ghouls by Gilderoy Lockhart and The Life and Lies of Albus Dumbledore, by Rita Skeeter.
He tells wizards that he likes to read Beedle the Bard in its original ancient runes, and muggles that his favourite book is War and Peace.
41. If they could have lunch with anyone in the world (living or dead, from any fictional universe or the real world), who would it be?
Hope Lupin - he still misses her, after all these years.
42. 3 comfort items
His wand, the last jumper his mum knitted him before she died, and the first jumper Mrs. Potter knitted him after his mum died
43. 3 favorite foods and 3 they despise
Favourites: cheese on toast, apple crumble and bacon sandwiches. Despises: cooked carrots (though he doesn't mind them raw), semolina/ tapioca and fruit salads.
44. Their happiest memory
Being told he could go to Hogwarts.
45. Their favorite celebrity
Notorious Mass Murderer, Sirius Black
46. The person they most admire
Notorious Mass Murderer, Sirius Black
47. Their dream job
He'd settle for any well paying job, that used his talents and where they wouldn't fire him for being a werewolf tbh. He does quite enjoy being a free-lance boggart hunter (which is lucky - because that's how he's spent most of his adult life), but the pay is patchy and there's not much scope for promotion.
48. Scariest moment of their life
He doesn't really remember the initial attack by Fenrir Greyback - just a lot of pain and fur, and he didn't really understand what was going to happen the first full moon after... so his scariest moment was waiting for his second ever full moon, when he was only five, and he knew what was coming and knew there was nothing even his dad could do to stop it.
49. Favorite toy as a child
His dad had a collection of dark creature miniatures, which he has sent off to a catalogue for. Remus liked lining them all up, making them all fight, and making the lethifold swim across the floor.
50. A memory they’ve blocked out
He would tell you he's blocked out Draco Malfoy dragging his robes ... He has not.
