Random toughts, Roswell Edition pt. 2

So, here I am after RNM season 4 episode 5. I keep watching Roswell hoping in something good but it's always the same thing. They absolutely don't know how to handle a character if it isn't on screen. I mean, Alex is searching weather balloons, and Rosa is in art school... they aren't in some secret undercover mission, you can contact them, you can talk about them. Instead they are nowhere to be found.

Explaining the Alex situation with "he's working, Michael knows it and isn't worried" is frustrating. In this time and era they are the only ones that can stay days without any contact and be totally at peace. I mean, I don't buy it but good for them.

And the thing is... It's a great season for Michael, he's at the center of things, he has a great storyline, he's growning emotionally and all that.... but Alex, at the moment and for a long time now, is just the love insterest and every time is mentioned is only in that capacity. And the point is that the Malex storyline isn't really there either, it's just in the background, it's not even the rollercoaster that Vlamis described, simply because Malex isn't on screen, and for all Michael knows it's all good in that aspect. It's going to change? I really hope so. At some point they have to unearth Alex, right?

At the end of the day I know that the lack of Alex is probably due to Tyler's healt and it's totally ok. I was aware that he wasn't on set very much during season 4 but I was hoping for a better treatment of his absence on screen. Instead, there has been nothing for three episode already. Whatever is the reason for the absence, it doesn't change the fact that the show doesn't know what to do with his character 90% of the time, in presence or not. What of waste of potential.

For me, the truth is that I hate summer (it's terribly hot and work is crazier than usual) and RNM should've been my comfort show and it's not. And I know that is a me problem, because I came for the ensamble but I stayed for Alex and this is a show that has stopped to treat him like a main character back in season one. He's just half a ship now, even Deep Sky has nothing to do with him when should've been his big new work. So, no interesting work that we see, no friends and no brothers in sigth, just a boyfriend that has to be the focal point of everything. Such a joy for me lol

I hope Alex doesn't miss too many more episodes and I really hope the wait will be worth it. For Alex I mean, not just for Malex.
