I keep seeing people complain on TikTok about how the TV albums lack emotion.. As someone who was never into speak now or fearless because I wasn’t around for that time and when I would listen I would just not get too into it for some reason. With fearless TV I literally listened to that album on repeat 4 days a week for 6 hours straight for probably about 5 months because I just fell in love with the TV. I also feel myself doing the same with Speak Now at this point. Idk I just like her voice so much better now than it was all those years ago
Lacks emotion? Simply not accurate. I feel like people are easily unimpressed and well, that’s on them.
For me, I grew up with debut, fearless, speak now, red… having every breath, lyric, instrumental break of these albums memorized comes as second nature to me.
With that said, as I got older and truthfully ever since 1989 came out, I didn’t listen to those previous albums as much anymore (sure I had favorite songs I’d never not listen to) until Taylor’s Version came out. And that gave me a new appreciation for them.
I’m in awe of the quality of the re-recordings and the labor of love it took to recreate them. Taylor’s voice is so much stronger and truly sounds amazing. I rather her versions, but still have a place in my heart for the originals too.
I’m really enjoying going back down memory lane with Speak Now tv… especially with the vault tracks, which have been top tier on all versions shes put out.

speak now (taylor's version) vault track predictions
disclaimer! i do not care about leaks or rumours regarding these songs, these are just my thoughts and predictions :)
electric touch (ft. fall out boy)
i see this song going in three different directions... most likely: the standard taylor "pop-rock" track (think better than revenge, the story of us, sparks fly, state of grace, holy ground, eyes open). lyrically and thematically related to sparks fly ("i see sparks fly whenever you smile"). not a duet; fob does the instrumentals but it's not necessarily their style. potential fan favorite! likely: duet, still taylor-esque but fob-style instrumentals. think this performance x. eyes open vibes also? one of the least streamed vault tracks, but if you get it you get it lol. least likely: emotional, piano driven duet. i have this fob song in mind x. patrick's near-crooning paired with taylor's lower register and masterful lyrics would be heavenly! hello, exile! however, considering the name of the track and it's obvious tie to sparks fly, it seems very unlikely.
Tumblr media
2. when emma falls in love
to me, this seems like the wildcard of the vault tracks. the only time taylor has really told a story about someone have been on folkmore and mary's song, and i do not see this being about a real person (*cough cough* emma stone). i think her writing will sound noticeably young, the style we saw on debut and fearless (as well as scattered throughout the main speak now album). i see it definitely being akin to mary's song in the story telling and subject matter.
Tumblr media
3. i can see you
i don't think this song will be super hard hitting like dear john or last kiss, but i can see it tugging at the heart-strings. sonically and thematically, i'm thinking it will most likely be similar to enchanted! i can also see it being similar to innocent in the same way.
Tumblr media
4. castles crumbling (ft. hayley williams)
the one i think we're all waiting for! i think there are two different possible directions for this track, neither more likely than the other. the expected: misery business x better than revenge (haunted??? eyes open???) #girlboss
the unexpected: strong ballad! i keep hearing this paramore song in my head x. i'm thinking a similar theme to innocent and/or long live! related to taylor's (possibly failing) career in some way, as that was something she was having to deal with at the time.
Tumblr media
5. foolish one
my immediate thoughts based on the title is that it will be related to kanye incident #1, OR maybe a relationship with someone who made her feel foolish (dear john-esque?). ...possibly similar sonically/thematically to mean?
Tumblr media
6. timeless
i feel like this could definitely have enchanted vibes! however, i could also see this being reflective of her career once again. long live with last kiss sound?
Tumblr media
thanks for reading:)

Idk if Taylor has always always been this literal in terms of the concept and the name of the album (maybe with speak now) idk i guess each album gets a bit of that but to me her entire explanation of this one being “this album is about those thoughts you have at midnight so my album is gonna be named midnights and in every single song i will used the word midnight, even tho sonically the album doesn’t make any fucking sense and it doesn’t look or even hear as an bum, because this album is set at midnight. It will come out at midnight because that’s the concept of the alb-“ and the fact that she claimed it’s a concept album, I’m crying laughing.
yeah i mean she's always been pretty literal with album titles tbh, like reputation was very on the nose but was just cool enough to work. lover/daylight again very basic on the nose, even though you have to respect the implications of referring to both yourself and your partner as Lovers on an album full of wedding imagery. it's still a bad album title but the implications.... 😈
folklore, 1989 and red, in that order, i think are her best album titles. folklore is exceptional because she is literally turning her life experiences into stories, warping them and disconnecting them from herself, but making them part of her own mythology anyway. no one will ever know the truth behind any of these stories, and no one ever should. they're folklore now, they're up to interpretation, and every swiftie will have a different version of taylor swift folklore in their minds. genius.
1989 is super cool because it's so mysterious, it gives nothing away beyond hey this music is inspired by 80s pop but it's also about myself but it's also not about myself anymore. it's like. this album is about rebirth, not as a person, but as an artist. the metanarrative about moving to new york to become herself + immediately solidifying her position as a pop behemoth, chefs fucking kiss.
red is great because, well, does it even need saying. the joni mitchell inspiration. the lipstick. the synesthetic emotional state of a fresh breakup. the literal colors in autumn. it shouldn't work, it should be super overdone, but it fucking works!!
on the flip side there's evermore, which to me is such a nothingtitle. it's very much a "we have all these b sides we have to call it something" vibe. no hate to evermore, there's some amazing tracks, but it's not an album it's a collection of songs. speak now is... fine i guess? very funny to title your album with a command to speak now when the album is full of songs you wrote because you did not speak then. again no hate to speak now because it's got many of my favorite songs on it, but it is only loosely cohesive as a unit because it's just a coming of age album. i would have to sit down and have a proper think about what i would have titled it.
and while we're here we may as well talk about fearless and self titled too. fearless is a good album title, it's very 2008, it's exactly what an 18 year old should be feeling, it perfectly captures the album. nothing groundbreaking, just decent and appropriate. i personally find it extremely boring for artists to name an album after themselves. i think it's uninspired, i think it's lazy, i think it should be illegal for artists to do this. i don't care how much you reinvented yourself or whatever, it's BORING. do better.
and then there's fucking Midnights. maybe the laziest concept ever conceived. it's literally just "i wrote a bunch of songs about my feelings" okay what's new? "i'm almost topless in the photoshoot" incredible no notes. but is the album interesting? hardly.

hiii how are you?
I hope everything is doing well.
I was actually asking myself what my mutuals on tumblr thinking about 1989 (Taylor 's version) , so what is your opinion on it ? Which one of the vaut tracks is your favorite ?
Sorry if this was akward, I still have difficulty with social cues on ask box lol.
Have a good day <3
hi!! i'm doing so good because of 1989 tv!!! how are you?? i hope you're doing well too!!
i LOVE the re-recording. 1989 really is the best album of all time in my eyes and having the vault tracks just solidified that for me. i definitely think some things sound different (like the guitar at the beginning of style) and i understand why people are like "wait this is going to take a sec to adjust to" so i don't think we should be mad at those people like it's definitely different BUT i am annoyed by the people saying they hate jack and that this is the worst re-recording and they'll stream the stolen versions because WHAT NO. so many songs are even better like the production is SO GOOD i'm in awe. definitely my favourite re-recording.
and I'm OBSESSED with the vault tracks! they've been on repeat for me and constantly in my head and all of them are perfect. they're easily my favourite vault tracks (right now my vault track order is 1989 > speak now > red > fearless). Is It Over Now? is my favourite right now and I can't stop listening to it. I think I'd order them, as of right now, now that we don't talk and say don't go, then slut!, then suburban legends. the lyricism on these songs is just insane and they sound incredible, but also i think of all her vault tracks these expand on the album the most and add the most context and make it feel the most well-rounded.
what is your opinion on it? what's your favourite vault track??

Thoughts on Speak Now TV? I am unwell and am seriously considering flying to Europe for a tour date she just opened.
Ps hi and I hope you’re doing well ☺️
Sorry for the delay in answering lol, I saw this last night but wanted to listen to the whole thing before forming opinions (I did only vault tracks and like 3-4 songs I was very nervous/ very excited for last night because I didn’t want to stay up till 2 am 😂) So tl; dr: this is where I’m at rn:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
😂😂😂 all jokes aside, I really like it! Not a huuuuge fan of some of the orchestration changes but it could have been a lot worse 😂 My main issue is my same issue for all the rerecords— while her voice is more mature now, and I do love hearing the songs with her stronger vocals, it’s always just missing a lot of the raw emotion the originals have which makes sense because it’s been so long but still bugs me. But I also listen to the stolen versions over the Taylor’s versions so after this weekend I will probably rarely listen to the TVs anyways so I don’t let it stress me out too much 😂
My biggest problem is the way she is literally trying to BRAINWASH us into thinking Speak Now is not as it was originally punished. I thought the removal of If This Was A Movie was dumb but the Better Than Revenge lyric change REALLY has me heated. Like, girlie. This is not Picture to Burn where you changed it after the first wave of CDs and 99% of your casual audience doesn’t even KNOW there’s a homophobic version. We’ve been singing Better Than Revenge for 13 years. Changing the lyric completely defeats the purpose of faithfully recapturing the originals with the rerecordings imo? Like just say it’s a silly song and you don’t feel this way anymore and regret the lyric if you want but don’t flat out change it and just pretend it never existed? Personally I don’t even think the og lyric is that bad compared to how scathing the rest of the song is!! The damage was already done!! 😂 But again, Idc I’m just gonna listen to the stolen version anyways so I suppose I should not care that much but it’s just very annoying how she’s trying to alter history!! I was there when you sang it on tour Taylor I WONT FORGET
My favorite thing about the rerecords is always the vault songs and I really like these!! I think they’re miles better than the Fearless ones but probably not quite as good as the Red ones? I need a few more listens to truly form my opinions but I Can See You and Foolish One are standouts to me. And as Amy said earlier Castles Crumbling is VERY Dany coded so I’m a big fan of that one too 🙌
All in all I am lovingggg getting to relisten to this album again as it’s one of my favorites and even with my lil nitpicky things I love this project, I love how much joy it clearly brings Taylor, and I do love getting to hear her current takes on these songs. I feel the European date desire— I really wanted to try for UK tickets but my roommate shut me down lol. However, if she adds a Canadian leg… you best bet I’m hopping that border to see it again 😂 Taylor remains queen and I’m always excited to get to hear new stuff from her!!!

Get to know me tag game!
Exactly what it says on the tin, I was tagged by @samblerambles for this one!
Top 3 Ships: I hope this question means just, like, currently, cause no way could I choose a top 3 of all time 😭. Current Nuclear-Levels-of-Brainrot Blorbo ships are: 1) Jeca (Jesse x Beca, Pitch Perfect); 2) Zelink (Link x Zelda, primarily Breath of the Wild/Tears of the Kingdom); and 3) Zekkna (Jaina x Zekk, Star Wars Legends/Young Jedi Knights). Honorable mentions go to the polyam versions of these ships tho (JessexBecaxChloe and Jaina's Mini Harem aka JainaxZekkxJag(xmaybe Kyp but I'm not sold on him). And maybe also YonaxSidonxLinkxZelda, which I just think is neat and fun)
Favorite color: yellow! I love a good golden, sunny yellow I gotta say 😁
Last Song: unintentionally, Cake by Itzy (played on the radio at the boba place I went to today); intentionally, Mr. Perfectly Fine (Fearless Vault Track by Taylor Swift)
Last Book: you know what, it's been 7 months since I last read anything, I think that officially makes this answer None until I get around to reading another book 😅.... Or it's the Little Golden Books baby's first biography on Taylor Swift. Which might actually be cringier 😅 (cringe is dead and it's a cute book etc etc but goddamn does this still say something about my ability to read actual books nowadays rip)
Last Movie: The Eras Tour Movie, preceded by The Barbie Movie
Currently Watching: nothing intentionally. I like watching some of the MeTV block of classic 70's/80's/90's shows tho. I'm always down for classic Macgyver and Emergency!
Current obsession: while you might come to the conclusion, based on this post, that it's Taylor Swift, I'm actually still fairly normal about her I promise 😅 I maintain the distinction that I'm a swiftie, but I'm not a Swiftie™. There's a difference. No, the actual answer is only mentioned once so far: Pitch Perfect, more specifically Jeca (and also SwanSongs aka Jesse/Beca/Chloe), even more specifically the secret good sequel to the third movie where Jeca can still win (and everyone is truly, canonically queer in a myriad of ways) that lives rent-free in my head, multiple pages of my sketchbooks, and as the Big Damn Fic™ I've been posting very slowly to AO3 since last year. Don't believe me? I'm gonna add '#jeca' and '#not to Blorbo on main but' to the tags of this post, look through the reblogs and actual blogs I've tagged over the past couple years and you'll truly understand how deep it all goes.
Currently Working On: allegedly, it's chapter 2 of the Big Damn Fic™ I just mentioned, 'these hands had to let it go free and- (This Love came back to me)', for which i just posted the ending a couple weeks ago as its own fic in the series to show that I'm doing something with it.
Country You Want to Visit: Scotland, Norway, and New Zealand. And also maybe Iceland. Pretty much in that order. I'd take a tour of Europe too tbh but those are the Big 3 (4).
Tags for Funsies: @thesorrowoflizards @lord-owlsnake @qcboeifzzz @beautiful-flutey @avian-violet and anyone else who sees this and wants to do it! Go for it! (No pressure tho ofc)

As someone who’s not in the TS fandom by any means but has been enjoying the TV re-releases and album tracks, which have you enjoyed most of the re-releases and could you say more on the Red TV opinions you have?
I would say 1989 *would* be the rerelease I enjoyed the most if it weren't for everything going around it, both in the world at large and in my personal life. So we have to go with Speak Now instead, which is the album that made me a swiftie (I listened to fearless first, then debut, but SN has always been my favorite. I used to cry listening to Mean). I think the vault tracks are really strong and the discourse wasn't overbearing or really very present. And the cover art is gorgeous, I have it displayed in my living room.
As for my dislike of Red tv...... I just don't think the actual rerecord is any good. The sad songs aren't as sad, the happy songs aren't as happy, and what you get is stronger vocals that lack any emotion.
I also have complaints about specific songs. Sad Beautiful Tragic doesn't feel ethereal enough, it's too solid. She misses the first note in The Lucky One, and the vocals on that track in general are an album low. 22 and WANEGBT just lack any sense of joy whatsoever.
There are songs I like in the rerecord, don't get me wrong. And I think the vault tracks are phenomenal - which makes me a little bit sad, actually, cause imagine how much punch they'd have packed if they'd been made when the emotions were still strong and present? Because it's so clear to me that my main problem with this album is that Taylor has moved on. When she was making Red (stolen version) she was 23, had just come out of an incredibly toxic relationship, and was just trying to find herself afterwards. She couldn't sing as well as she can now, but by God did she put every bit of her soul into those damn songs. And she's just... Clearly moved on now. A song like 22 about the highs and lows of being in your early 20s isn't relevant someone in her 30s. All Too Well doesn't hit as hard when she, frankly, doesn't remember it all that well anymore.
Actually can we talk about All Too Well? Cause my most controversial opinion on this album is that I..... Don't like the Ten Minute Version. I think the production taking more of a folk tone makes the emotional punch less intense, and I think the added lyrics break a lot of the magic of the original track for me, which was the narrative of it all. ATW starts with the scarf and ends with the scarf, because it's this one piece that symbolizes the whole. ATWTMV finishes the scarf metaphor and then keeps going for another four minutes. There's a lot of things about ATWTMV I don't like but I would be willing to forgive, like the fact that "I was never good at telling jokes" onwards just sounds like a different song, or even the fact that the last 30 seconds are artificially put in there to get it up to ten minutes, when I'd have been okay with the 9:30 minute version instead. But when you mess with the story that is what made the song a fan favorite and deep cut in the first place?
Also I don't like that she's decided the lyric is "you almost ran the red cause you were looking over at me". Not only is it clunky and she has to sing strangely fast to fit it in, but "cause you were looking over me" is more effective. It makes Taylor herself seem like an object, and it also makes it seems as though he was lingering on her. "Looking over at me" sounds like it's barely a glance. And she had the nerve to not only change this lyrics on ATWTMV, but also on the rerecord of ATW (the original five minute rock inspired version)!!!!
Anyway whew. That doesn't even cover everything but those are my big complaints.

Speak Now TV initial thoughts:
I love this album so much 🥲
There were no wierd changes like the "weeeeEEEEEEE" in WANEGBT that drove me crazy and I am grateful
I thought I would hate the change in Better Than Revenge buts actually pretty seemless
Also I saw people still give Camilla shit so the change was probably for the best and will hopefully make people chill (impossible)
So far I think Red has had the best vault tracks. I love Hayley and FOB but nothing is really calling out to me to go back to
I thought Dear John was going to be the hook but Last Kiss, Story of US, Innocent, Haunted and Mean are really just those girls
Honestly some of my favorite songs are on this album and it's cool to hear with her mature voice
Unlike Fearless TV and and Red TV I don't think there are any stolen versions I prefer..
Except maybe Dear John but like I'm sorry it's about the emotion babe Taylor might never forget but there are somethings you just can't hold on to forever and it's a GOOD THING but still
Overall it's my favorite of the re recordings so far and honestly I think it has a good chance of staying that way.

okay so don't kill me but I must admit that the extent of my Taylor Swift song listening was when we did Shake It Off in choir in like 6th grade, so I guess this is my way of asking, what are your favourite songs of hers/which ones should I listen to first? I figured you were probably the expert (your url is a bit of a giveaway)
I will not kill you, I love converting people! Of course if you take a listen and she's still not your vibe I understand, though I will be sad :(
So here's the thing about Taylor's music, she's a pop artist, but all of her albums have wildly different sounds. So where you should start really depends on what type of music you like. Here is my playlist with my personal top 3 favorite songs on each album:
(More rambling below)
I'm also gonna break down the vibes of each album so you can just listen to whatever your vibe is if you want. These are in chronological order.
Taylor Swift (Debut) - Country
Fearless - Still country vibes but with HEAVY pop influence
Speak Now - Pop with notes of country
Red - Poppy pop very pop with a hint of country.
1989 - The Pop Album Ever. If you like upbeat pop music I'd start here.
Reputation - Pop but make it DRAMA. This is a very fun and dramatic album.
Lover - Do not start here. This is widely considered her worst album. I do like it but I never recommend people start here. That said, I love a lot of songs on the album. It's pop, mostly love songs.
Folklore - If you're into indie pop type sound and sad songs, START HERE!! This is my favorite album
Evermore - sister album to folklore. Vibes are the same
Midnights - Has a little of everything but very very Pop.
ALSO! Taylor has re-recorded and released both Fearless and Red, and is going to be doing the same with her other older albums (probably speak now next) because – long story short – she doesn't technically own the masters to her music and she got screwed over, so she's re-releasing versions that she owns. So when listening to Fearless or Red, make sure to listen to Taylor's Version, those are the versions she owns. They were recently re-recorded so her vocals are better, production is better, and there are a lot of "from the vault" previously unreleased tracks on the albums too.
Have fun!! <3

First listening of Speak Now (Taylor's Version)
Tumblr media
So, I now listened through the first half of Speak Now (Taylor's Version) (From Mine to Innocent) and before I'll come to what I think so far I want to say that Speak Now, for me, always was my favorite album, not only from Taylor, but from everyone. Exactly this album was the one that helped me going through the hardest time of my life and made me the big Taylor Swift fan I am today.
So now to what I think about the new version of the album. I definitely have to say that it is better than the Taylor'sVersion of RED, and it is really good and nice made. So if I would listen to it without knowing the original, I probably would say it is a great album, even though I wouldn't be that blown away like I was from the original. But the problem is, that I know th original version and I have the same problem like with Fearless and RED, the feelings aren't transported as much and as great as they were in the original ones. They are still there, but not that strong as in the first version. I think the Banjo in Mean sounds very different now, which isn't so bad, just different. But I found the intro in The Story Of Us somehow a bit too strong with the new sound of the guitar. In general I think that the songs from all of the Taylor's Version albums are suffering because of the fact that her voice isn't the teenage voice anymore that fitted the songs from her early years just perfectly. Another thing that I have to say is, one of my favorite songs overall was Better Than Revenge, but the changed lyrics to get rid of the mattress line, seems really off for me and doesn't really fit in. I guess I will do it like I do it with all the Taylor's Version albums and listen to the songs from the original version and in the end change to Taylor's Version for the Vault tracks.
And before some hardcorers now say that I'm not a Swiftie, a fan or anything like that, because I still listen to the old songs. I have to say that everyone should decide for themselves what versions they listen to and that doesn't make anyone less or more of a fan. Everyone who likes Taylor's music and her career, personality and so on, is a fan. And by the way, if I listen to my cd's or mp3 versions no one gets money from it, wether it is Big Machine Records nor Taylor. And for everyone who wants Big Machine to go down, please consider the fact that without Big Machine Taylor and also her songs wouldn't exist in exactly that way they exist today and now, so maybe you or we wouldn't be her fans or maybe some other things would've changed. The only thing that is safe to say is, that her career and everything that has to do with her, would've been different.
Everyone is allowed to have his own opinion and to listen to what version they want, they are allowed to Speak Now.
I'll continue with the second half later and I guess I'll post about it after I listened to it.

Okay!
Journey to Fearless >> 1989 Tour movie
Vigilante Shit is... bad...
The re-recordings overall are an improvement, but there are a few exceptions (WANEGBT, IKYWT, Holy Ground and Girl at Home)
Reputation didn't deserve album of the year. It's not as bad as some of the critics who disliked it claim it is, but it's also not as amazing as the fandom thinks it is imo. It has some great songs (Getaway Car, Dress, Call It What You Want, Gorgeous, King of My Heart, Delicate), but also a lot of meh songs (So It Goes, Don't Blame Me, LWYMMD) and some of her worst songs (This is Why We Can't Have Nice Things and Endgame). It's a 7/10 album for me.
LWYMMD gets too much hate (I know, I just listed it as a meh song, but I don't think it's a bad song, it's just one that I don't really revist that often. And plus it gave us the best music video from the Reputation era)
Karma the lost album theory is not real.
Shake It Off should have been the single from the 1989 era that got a tour video, not New Romantics, because that song has a lot of imagery while Shake It Off doesn't. But it served its purpose as a lead single, which was to create a lot of hype around 1989, but still.
Some people need to stop acting like Folklore and Evermore are the only times Taylor has had great songwriting on her albums. Red, Speak Now, Love Story, The Best Day, Fifteen, White Horse, Clean, Dancing with Our Hands Tied, Clean, Soon You'll Get Better, Cornelia Street, YOYOK and WCS are right there.
None of her pop albums are underrated. Some get more criticism than others (Lover), but like her pop albums are still very popular and have a lot of people who love them and discuss their songs.
Her country ones (especially Debut and Fearless) are very underrated and are slept on.
Lover is my least favorite album. It has some of her best pop songs (Cruel Summer, Cornelia Street, I Think He Knows), but it also has some of her worst songs (Me!, YNTCD, I Forgot That You Existed) and the tracklist is messy and it's the one TS album that I'd say that the tracklist needs some adjusting for sure.
I really don't get why some people say she couldn't possibly have written the 10 minute version of All Too Well back in 2011, just because of the "fuck the patriarchy " line. She was just quoting what was written on the keychain, not just randomly saying it for the sake of saying it.
If This Was a Movie deserves more attention
The Fearless vault tracks are overall good (except Don't You and Bye Bye Baby)
As much as I'd like to believe Speak Now TV will be out in March, I doubt it now, because we're only 1 month away and no announcement yet.
I'd be perfectly fine with Shake It Off, Bad Blood, Me!, YNTCD getting cut from the tour setlist for other songs (aka Holy Ground, Enchanted, State of Grace, Wonderland, You're in Love)
Everything Has Changed and Run are good. Yes, Ed's music has declined quality wise from his earlier work, but these collabs are still good.
Mary's Song and Today Was a Fairytale are cute and I don't get why people hate on them.
Starlight deserves more attention too. Yeah, it's a bit weird that it made onto Red, but it's still a good song
I like August, but I don't think it's the best song of the love triangle songs on Folklore.

I'm going to come off anon to explain my Taylor Swift to Beatles pipeline because I do get that, if someone said what I said to me, I would also feel super nosy. And it's not bad or super embarrassing or anything. It's just kind of convoluted to explain in a way that might be annoying to your followers if it came in anon form.
So, like I said, I've been a Taylor Swift fan from basically day 1. I have strong memories of Tim McGraw first coming out on country radio. But I always considered myself a casual fan. For Debut, Speak Now, Red, and 1989, I only knew the singles and one or two other songs. And I only knew Delicate off Reputation. And even though I'd fallen deeply in love with folklore and evermore, I still didn't consider myself a swiftie and missed the rereleases of Fearless and Red entirely. But a few months after Red (TV) came out I was having a conversation with my sisters about our favorite music artists and realized that Taylor Swift was probably the musician that I had had the longest and deepest relationship with. And even though I saw myself as a casual fan I'd watched all her music videos, except the ones for Look What You Made Me Do, Endgame, and Ready for It? (which I didn't know existed), obsessively, she was the only artist I've ever tried to see in concert, and nothing about my relationship to folklore or evermore could be considered casual. And upon realizing that she was probably the most important musician in my life, I immediately got in deep as a fan. But, as previously alluded to, I was super reluctant to get back into rpf. Both because of the absolute horror of seeing how tinhat conspiracies spiral and because I know my own tendency to place my favs on pedestals and how unhealthy that is with real people. So I tried to confine myself to what I hoped would be a healthier version of obsessing over a real person. I only looked at reviews of her music and tracked her sales statistics (something I also always get overly invested in with my favorite celebrities). It's super difficult to find accurate sales statistics for music, but I found this great site called chartmasters.org which is at least consistent in its measurements across artists. And eventually, after checking it obsessively every day for weeks, I couldn't help but notice The Beatles at the top of the artists chart. And how they were 75 million records above the next highest artist (Michael Jackson), which is basically Cher's whole career. I've never really been a huge music person, so I knew about the Beatles, but my whole opinion of them was - Beatlemania, a few good songs, influential, but massively overhyped by middle-aged men. Seeing them that far ahead of the next person down made me go "what the hell is the deal with this band?". And then I went down a Wikipedia rabbit hole which turned into a tumblr rabbit hole which is what led me to that gifset. And now I'm here.
So that's it. Nothing too bad, just kind of a ridiculous explanation to send over anon.
Awwww I love it though, we all fall in somehow :') Thanks for sharing!! 🫶🏻🥹
