hi g it’s 💐 I had the absolute piss taken out of me (I was made fun of rly badly) today, between my dyslexia and the fact that English isn’t my first or only language (so I’m sorry if this doesn’t exactly make sense) and it made me realise truely how comforting your writing is and I know I’ve said it before (i always feel like people forget my appreciation, not necessarily you but yk) but it’s like I can just shut off my brain when I read your work and I know you wouldn’t make fun of me if I read it wrong (and authors have gotten mad at me before 😐) - I don’t really know where I was going but I felt the need to tell you… 💐

happy fanfic writer's appreciation day! what's your favourite scene you've EVER written???

Oh my gosh! Hard hitting question right out of the gate I see!

Of course, any question like this is like forcing me to choose between my children, you realize. But I'm going to have to go with the first scene that comes to mind, which is the reveal scene from The Devil You Know that I'm still very proud of and worked very hard on. I consider the entire first chapter the scene, which I'm not going to quote here, just an excerpt:

The first thought Chloe had wasn’t a thought at all. Just primordial instinct, awakening after thousands of years of evolution. Danger. Run. Escape. Her whole body tensed, ready for flight. But nothing attacked her. There was no anger or bloodlust in the red eyes that bored into hers; instead a very real sadness, almost a gentleness. It looked so incongruous on that ravaged face that it shocked her out of her initial, primal response and into something more measured before she’d had a chance to move. Her instincts continued shrieking at her. Devil. Devil. There had to be something, some aura, some imprinted biological memory, because the face didn’t match any depictions of the Devil she’d ever seen. Still, there could be no doubt. The Devil was real. And he was sitting in her living room. Chloe’s subconscious couldn’t decide on an expletive strong enough so it settled for all of them at once. They said your life flashed before your eyes before you died. Chloe had never experienced such a thing herself, but apparently it also happened when you found out that your partner was the actual Devil. Every interaction they’d ever had played on fast-forward through her mind. Lucifer. Morningstar. Is that a stage name or something? God-given, I’m afraid. I got it. I got it! The name, the whole Lucifer thing, and desire’s like your superpower. More like a gift from God, really. I’m sure where he’s going, the pain’s coming. No, it’s not, actually, because I’m here- I could add an ironic twist, like I used to when I ran Hell. Oh. Oh. OH. It kept going, round and round and round in her head until she thought it would burst. The Devil? Real thing. Which meant... God? Real thing. Heaven and Hell? Real things. Fuck. Shitfuckfuck-

I'll be honest, I'm pretty sure my fondness for it isn't necessarily a reflection on its quality so much as it being an entirely unique (at least it was when I wrote it) take on the reveal scene trope. I put a lot of work into it because I wanted to get it right.

I guess that means I peaked 5 years ago 😂 But more seriously, I try to resist the temptation to just pick something from my most recent work, because what you've just written is always freshest in your mind and represents the culmination of your skill thus far.

angus was so talented and he seemed like such a genuine and kind person and he was so open and real and raw about his battles with mental health and idk it’s so sad he was 25 his career was just starting and he had such a bright future

I know what it’s like to feel pain you think and believe will never end I know what it’s like to just want to be/feel at peace and feel like there’s only one way to feel it and that there’s only one way out

one thing I learned when I was at rock bottom was that I didn’t want my life to end, I wanted the pain to end and I didn’t know the difference and it’s not like this for everyone but for me that’s how it was

I know I’m a mess but if anyone ever wants or needs to talk please reach out you are never alone and you need to know that, id rather sit and listen to you talk and just let it all out rather than you feel like you’re alone so pls pls reach out if you need anything 🤍

Obligatory Silhouettes post now that I am back to weekly updates.

The story picks up after Joel and Ellie leave the hospital and she wakes up in the back of the car. She knows he lied about what happened, but between Silver Lake, the fireflies, and everything else they have been through, her need to trust Joel overshadows the web of lies they're both creating. It is an exploration of trauma, PTSD, recovery and how to rediscover a person over and over again.

This fic is pretty much by baby and I tell this story for myself first and everyone else second, but I am also an author at heart and incredibly grateful for everyone who is along for the ride <3

SessKag: “What on earth is that supposed to be?” 

A soft shuffling woke her from a dead sleep, and Kagome rolled over, quickly checking the monitor. Blinking away the bleariness, she frowned at the screen. An arm wrapped around her waist, stopping her from jumping out of bed. She nudged it out of the way, but Sesshoumaru held fast. “You are meant to be resting,” he chastised.

She shook her head, then turned the monitor, pointing at the middle of the screen. “What on earth is that supposed to be?” she asked. 

He hissed slightly at the bright light, pupils constricting in the darkness. “The twins’ room, mate. We set up new beds earlier—”

“Not that,” she whispered, pointing to the right bed. “That!”

He sighed, then sat up, taking the monitor from her. “I do not see an abnormality.”

Kagome gave him a droll look. “You don’t see the large blob in only one bed?” She pushed his arm out of the way, then padded down to the nursery, careful not to make as much noise as possible. The light wasn’t on, so she knew they were asleep, and she poked her head into the room, heart clenching at the sight. 

Riku had climbed into Sora’s bed.

The twin boys had been inseparable since birth but had outgrown their crib, so the whole family went shopping over the weekend to get them separate beds. 

Clearly, that had been a mistake.

“I will ask Inuyasha to reconstruct their beds,” Sesshoumaru said from behind her, leaning against the doorframe. 

“Are you sure?”

“They are holding hands, mate. They are not ready for their own sleeping space yet.” She hummed in agreement as she covered the hand on her hip, intertwining their fingers as he led her back to their room. 

“I just don’t want them to start fighting,” she admitted. 

There was a soft snort as he closed the door behind them. “The only fight will stem from their sister having a smaller bed than them when construction is finished.” He tucked her against his side, cocooning her into the warmth of his body. 

“You get to deal with it, then,” she said, knowing Mizuki would somehow convince her favourite uncle to build her an entirely new bed as well. She had her father’s cunning streak and her mother’s knack for politics, all combining into a pair of pleading green eyes that even Inuyasha couldn’t resist. 

“I will warn Inuyasha to bring extra lumber,” Sesshoumaru murmured, reading her thoughts. Kagome twisted, checking the monitor one more time, a smile tilting her lips as she realized Sora was using Riku’s leg as a pillow. 

“Silly boys.”

obviously google translate is Questionable but it’s hard to imagine what else “strange rumours” could mean lolll.

this bit was from a little collection of maps that had a few sets of siblings, some of which may be normal, but it also contains eldigan and lachesis from fe4, whom you…. may have heard of. she’s canonically in love with him (says a lot that she can’t see herself getting married because no man will ever compare, and if you make her daughter marry eldigan’s son, the daughter says lachesis was in love with him lol). in the game it’s not ever shown how he feels about that, but in the official manga (by oosawa if you’re curious) they very nearly have sex. the only reason he doesn’t sleep with her isn’t because they’re siblings, but because he knows he’s likely about to die and he’s not willing to let her “live with that sin” on her own. this franchise……………..
