He got a lead role in The DramAddicts, a student-written play meant to showcase the students’ acting, singing, and writing chops.
Jay was one of the “main six,” the main ensemble cast driving the story. He also got a song with his bestie (from Beetlejuice!) and some songs with the whole company.
His dad was there, which I wasn’t expecting. Things are hella chilly between us, but I did my best to be pleasant.
I got exactly zero pictures or videos. I was too busy watching.
He’s at the big wrap party now, I’m having a little drinky drink and waiting for SportsCenter to come on. I need to wind down after all those people.
So, my husband is Irish. He moved to Australia when was a child and doesn't remember much of Ireland but tells me all about what he can remember and also tells me folk tales too.
One day we were talking about Fae folk tales because I really love folk tales and our daughter overhears and eagerly sits in his lap as he tells tales. He said something about the fairy rings. And my daughter asked more about them.
Husband *trying his best to explain it to an eager 8 year old*: "Well, think of it like a doorway. They say if you step into a fairy ring you're walking into their home, their realm."
Daughter *eyes lighting up*: "So if I found one I can go visit fairies?!"
Husband: "Princess, it's never a good idea to step inside one at all, ever."
Daughter: "Daddy, you said you don't even believe in them. Why can't I step in one?"
Husband: "True, I don't. But I don't want to take the chance if they are real. I would lose you. And besides, I don't think they would like an uninvited guest just poppin' in their home."
Our daughter was disappointed and slumped her shoulders with a sad, "Oh."
My husband smiled before scooping her up in a big hug. "You can't step into the fairy rings, Princess, but of you find one maybe you can leave a little sugary treat for them"
And that is how my husband and our daughter stayed up til 11pm making sugary treats for fairies.
I dyed my daughter's hair for the first time today.
On Saturday I found out my Dr put my pain script out 5 days more than it should've been. They're closed til Tuesday bc of the holiday. I've been out of my heavy hitter for 3 days.
I had told her we'd go for a drive with her dad Sunday and dye her hair on Monday.
They took the drive by themselves bc I couldn't get out of bed.
This morning she told me it was alright and we could do it after I get my meds. She's a good kid, she definitely would've understood. I absolutely told my body to fuck off and we were doing this.
I'm lucky bc she has both sides shaved so her longest part only took an hour and the rest took about 30 mins ( mostly bc I had to be careful around the hairline).
It's washed, dried, and she's in bed now. Her smile when it wad completely dry and saw herself and said "Who IS SHE?!" made my fucking year.
My pain holds me back from a lot. There's so many things I miss or miss out on. I can't always tough it out... but I fucking did today and the pain I'm in rn and the pain I'll be in tomorrow from pushing myself too hard is totally worth it. She made me a picture.
She's the one with pink hair. The other one is our family baby, Hestia.
Wolfie and Four friendship appreciation doodles! They're shared secrets besties! I hope Four's distrust of the shadow crystal doesn't drive anything between them. Wild found his way into this compilation with a force. It seems I can't draw Wolfie and not include him too!
Officially known as “Sharkie” by my son because of my sharp teeth. Who’s gonna tell him he has the vampire teeth thing going on too? 😸 He was so excited he did a backflip up the couch when I pointed to mine. Idk man, he’s so sweet.
Parent teacher conference update: Jay is kicking ASS!
And his dad didn’t say anything to undermine him! (That’s been a regular problem) In fact, he didn’t say much at all. I am okay with this.
And Jay wants to get a job this summer!
And all I had to do to get ready was throw a hoodie on over my jammies. 😁
There is some question as to whether Jay will graduate on time; his mental health was Not Good during freshman year and he hardly got any credits. I am 100% not worried about this. If he needs an extra semester or an extra year, that’s just how it’s gonna go. People have health problems and that’s fine. He’s recovering well and I’m proud of him.
A few months ago my daughter’s boyfriend drew that picture and then she made that statue of it. You can say I was pretty damn impressed. Totally forgot to share it here. Hope you guys enjoy it! And she just started on my Batman statue! Woohoo!
