Obviously, I haven't included all of them (mainly just ones I'm decently familiar with, enough to know that the anime adaptations are completely). Some I also made executive decisions to exclude. For example, I left out the Legend of Basara and Please Save My Earth because they're less familiar to most people on here. And D.N. Angel and My Love Story!! have male MCs, so I'm not sure if they count as shoujo. And Shugo Chara technically isn't fully adapting since they made up the Party! arc after the Easter Arc (manga ending is much better in my opinion lol...)
However, I hope I got most of the popular ones! Or at least that ones that still make me sad aren't finished lol
"autistic assassin characters > all other assassin characters."
Shizuku -
"She and her bf are both definitely on the spectrum somewhere. Shizuku isn't very conventionally sociable and there is an emotional divide between her and her classmates which led to the disparaging nickname 'Dry Ice.' She has a special interest in studying, which is what she spends most of her free time doing (if she can get away with it), which is another thing that other characters don't really understand."
Fruits Basket got a revival, Kimi no Todoke is getting a new season. Is shojo anime making a comeback? Because if so, I demand a new season to Kamisama Kiss, My Little Monster, Yona of the Dawn, Snow White With the Red Hair, Maid Sama, and Ouran High School Host Club. NOW!
i've been rereading tonari no kaibutsu-kun for the past few months and had this sort of epiphany that the storyline makes SO much more sense if you read it assuming shizuku, haru and natsume are all neurodivergent teens that had to parkour their way into societal norms like! it makes so much sense! and this is why so many people dislike it so much - they don't understand that the three of them struggle with the same things in (very) different ways, hence why they grow so beautifully together!! they are platonic soulmates do not separate them
