Familiarity- A Choi Mujin One-shot.
Fluff, mainly. Slight mentions of smut around the end.

A/N: HII I'm back, and I know I'm writing for someone who I haven't mentioned in my bio, but haha yea lmao anyways.

She was always a heavy sleeper. Sleeping through the night, ignoring all possible threats and problems. Her sleep was part of her routine; the perfect routine.
She'd always be attentive at her work, not missing a single deadline and being a  blindly obedient employee. The perfect employee.
Her clothes were always neat- sure, they weren't the most expensive, but they always looked neat and tidy. Not a single visible crease or fold. The perfect clothes.
Everything about her life seemed perfect. She had a stable job, a nice apartment, healthy relationships, and a great routine.
Obviously that was till she met him.
He was the little blow of wind that led the domino's to begin their fall. He was the reason she'd miss deadlines. He was the reason she wouldn't be paying attention at work, showing up late with messy clothes and a mind that wasn't set to work.
And ofocurse he was the reason she'd be sleeping lightly, subconsciously waiting for that phone call, that doorbell ringing, that knock, that text- anything: anything indicating he was coming over.
And here she was, dragging herself out of bed to open the door for him again.
He was a busy man, not having much time to meet or pay much attention to whatever situation lay between those two.
It was just 1 am, which was relatively early for him. He'd never come before 2, but this was a different occasion.
The bag was slipping out of his calloused hands. He was tired, but he wouldn't miss another opportunity to be in her bed.
She had work the next day, being fully aware of her circumstances as she moved forward towards the door. She could simply go back to sleep and he'd go back home, but she knew she couldn't do that. She knew that no matter how hard she tried to ignore it, that bed still felt empty without him. She knew she couldn't care less about whatever type of gift he bought her this time, she just needed him more than anything else.
His body was aching. He was exhausted. He could finally feel the cold wind hitting his back. He was fully aware that there was no need for him to be standing here at this hour on this cold winters' night. But wasn't there though? wasn't there a need for him to be here? didn't every waking sense in him compell him to be here right now? Wasn't there a burning sensation all across his body to be with her right now?
Her hand fell on the handle, opening the door to her apartment. And that's all it took for her to be greeted by what she was constantly waiting for. The cold hit her a few moments later, prompting her to move aside to let him in.
"Were you sleeping?" He asked, moving into the apartment.
She hummed in disagreement as a response.
He was so familiar with the layout of her apartment. Knowing where to keep his shoes, his coat, and the gift he bought her.
Familiarity. That's what they had an abundance of between them. The familiarity, though never verbally expressed, was understood through gestures like these. The gift bag he held contained clothes he knew  would fit her like a glove. Similarly she knew which cigarettes to keep around the house for his visits, specifically to keep them in the drawers of her nightstand where he'd reach for them after they'd have had sex.
"This is early for you." She spoke.
He had made himself comfortable on the couch, looking back at her, expecting her to join.
"I wanted to spend some more time with you." He replied, turning to face the window.
All he heard was a mumbled thankyou followed by some shuffling footsteps in his direction.
He looked at her as she made her way to the couch, ushering her to sit in his lap.
And who was she if not obedient to Mujin?
She wrapped her legs around him, hugging him as she got comfortable in his lap, placing her head on the expanse of his chest. His arms clung to her, welcoming her into him.
There was no other place he'd rather be.
She moved her head eventually, bringing her hand forward and undoing his tie- it felt uncomfortable.
She carefully removed his tie from around his neck, folding it once completely removed and gently putting it aside.
Everything she did for him was done with such care and gentleness. It wasn't something Mujin was quite used to. It felt so foreign yet so warm to him. It was moments like these where he wouldn't care how tired he was, he needed to be with her.
He unbuttoned the top few buttons of his shirt himself, allowing her to return to the position she was in earlier. He had plenty of partners before her, but none reached her level. No matter how hard he tried, he'd always come back to her.
He knew they weren't in that position for too long, but it still felt like hours. Hours of comfortable silence. Hours where he didn't feel his responsibilities on his shoulders. Sure, he'd go over and beyond to ensure she'd be spoiled, but that wasn't a responsibility on him- it was more of something he'd want to do, no matter how busy he'd be.
"Aren't you going to ask what's in the bag?" He asked, breaking the silence.
"Hm?" She snapped out of her thoughts, "Hm no, I'll see later."
He brought his eyes back to her, looking down at how she was curled onto him. He knew if he looked hard enough he could find this in other women, but he didn't want other women. He wanted her, and her only.
"You seem tired." She spoke, allowing him to register how his body hurt.
"Long day." Was all he replied with. He couldn't even begin to describe the events of the day.
"Do you wanna go to bed?" She asked, moving her body a bit to look at him better.
"No. Not yet."
He couldn't sleep yet. He didn't want to. He wanted to cherish her. He needed to be closer to her. He couldn't just sleep, no, not till he showed her a fraction of the affection he felt towards her.
And so he did. She could feel his hands beginning to wander all over her body. This sensation was familiar, it was so familiar that she'd give into it entirely- letting her body do whatever it needed.
It wasn't long till his lips met hers in a desperate, hungry kiss, from which when they both parted, were gasping for air.
"Take me to my room please." Was all she needed to say for the night to set itself ablaze as Mujin carried her to her room.

You said Taeju acted on his own when he attacked Jiwoo, what do you think would have been Mujin's reaction if he had killed Jiwoo?
I was trying to find the particular post this was in reference to, and I can't quite. Y'all got me talking too much I'm forgetting what I've said lol.
This is actually something I don't have a particular opinion on, to be honest. Because I genuinely don't know what I think Mujin would have done. I think about it a lot though, and I'm curious what everyone else's opinions are.
But let's talk it through for a minute...
If I'm being pressed to give an answer, I think Mujin probably wouldn't have reacted well. Not because Jiwoo had been killed necessarily, but because Taeju had been the one to do it, and without specific instruction.
Like Taeju told Jiwoo, Mujin always kills traitors with his own hand. And this fight between Jiwoo and Mujin was personal to the two of them specifically. It truly wasn't anyone else's business. Mujin expected Jiwoo to come to him when she found out he was the killer, and he was going to afford her the courtesy of battling her himself if need be. It was always between the two of them (from Mujin's perspective), so for Taeju to take it upon himself to kill Jiwoo, Mujin probably would have seen that as Taeju interfering where he really didn't belong. Even if it essentially was for Mujin's (and Dongcheon's) own good.
Leading up to this we saw Mujin showing an increasing lack of respect for Taeju's opinion. Whenever Taeju expressed doubt in Jiwoo, or concern for Mujin's wellbeing in relation to her, Mujin either brushed his concern aside, or pointedly called him out. That's not to say that Mujin didn't trust Taeju, or that he wasn't important to him, but by this point, Mujin is so wrapped up in his own agenda he literally isn't thinking clearly. He's got blinders on, and anything that tries to challenge his own perspective is seen as a threat. And Taeju was doing a good job of casting doubt with his own shadow. He was trying his best to protect Mujin, but to Mujin it looked like a direct challenge of his authority.
The scene prior to Taeju's fight with Jiwoo, where Taeju is alone in Mujin's office, looking at that picture of Mujin and Donghoon, feels very much like a breakup scene to me. It feels like Taeju is breaking up with Mujin, even if it's one-sided. Even if he's just breaking up with his emotional attachment to him. Taeju is kind of at his wit's end. He's tired of the games, he's tired of being brushed aside, I think he's finally tired of being taken advantage of, and this is like his curtain call. He'd assembled a small team of men to take care of Jiwoo (in a way he thought was going to be quick and efficient), to do what Mujin didn't have the guts to do (and would probably never have the guts to do if Taeju was being honest). And he likely went into the engagement with the knowledge that he'd either come out having killed Jiwoo, or not make it out at all, and either way it went probably really didn't matter to him. He was finally taking matters into his own hands, and what Mujin thought after the fact was something he couldn't really be fucked to care about at that moment.
Now...
I think Mujin would have been upset with Taeju killing Jiwoo, but from there I really don't know what his course of action would have been.
I don't know if he would have just taken it in stride (so to speak), or if he would have lashed out. I think he cared too much for Taeju to do anything too drastic, but like I said, I don't think he was thinking clearly at that point. It wasn't until he saw Taeju's dead body that he truly understood the depths of his feelings for him, and that was essentially the catalyst for Mujin going completely off the rails in the end. It hurt to see Taeju dead, but I think it would have hurt more (from the audience's perspective) to see Taeju have to deal with the emotional (and potentially physical) ramifications of succeeding in his attempt to kill Jiwoo. It's better that he was sent back to Mujin dead as a final warning from Jiwoo -- with Mujin's own knife through Taeju's heart (my god, the poetic tragedy of it all) -- at least that way Mujin finally woke up to his feelings for Taeju. There was a sick sort of satisfaction in Taeju's death, that it forced Mujin to acknowledge his own stupid feelings. And I liked being able to see that. That was almost like Taeju's final act of revenge -- for himself, and against Jiwoo, even if he didn't get to witness it.
(Plus seeing Mujin go completely unhinged because of Taeju -- to avenge him in a way -- was also extremely satisfying. But that's another discussion for another day.)
