Oakmoss's Naos, updated!

I probably should've waited until tomorrow to do a proper post about this, but I'm both excited and zonked. So! I'm just gonna copy and paste my original description of this place:

Behind a waterfall somewhere in the Lavender Beds lies a crumbling, waterlogged temple. When one wanders within, it quickly becomes apparent that someone messy and gil-hungry inhabits it. Furnishings, gil, clothing, and all sorts of bric-a-brac have been moved onto the algae-covered remains of the temple’s nave. Sunlight filters in through cracks in the ancient temple and the riverbed above it; tattered, faded curtains of an unknown weave hang haphazardly. Despite the abominable housekeeping skills of its inhabitant, the books on the bookshelves are magicked to remain dry and pristine…

I got very lost in the sauce and did a long-overdue update of Oakmoss's dwelling. She calls it her naos (temple), and it's fitting; serving as a hidden devotional spot to her Goddess, Sophia, it's also the Strange Bun's home in Eorzea. Considering I do all my decorating with only the glitches available in vanilla content, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out! Also, TIL that the Sophia miniature PERFECTLY lines up with the elemental wheel. An unintentional bonus, but pretty cool for the Balance. Also also, apparently I stocked up on Flagstone Lofts at just the right time. In the 4 hours it took me to do this, they nearly tripled in price.

1. honestly i SUCK at making playlists😭 they usually only end up with about 5 songs on them, i’ll listen to it a few times, and then i’ll get sick of it and never listen to it again….i think my okayest playlist is probably a Billy and Stu (Scream) playlist i made last year—it’s longer and i still listen to it sometimes (i’ll post it if anyone’s interested)

“Robert’s smiling and wearing a sweater” in a picture displayed on Joseph’s yacht. The next line is something like “I’ve seen that sweater before.” Is this explained elsewhere? You don’t get to see this picture, so I have to assume it’s Joseph’s sweater, and he and Robert hooked up long ago. Although Mary hates you because you’re sniffing around her husband, but she’s BFFs with Robert, so she must not know...

Then the next screenshot is infuriating because that’s obviously a message saying you could successfully wreck Joseph’s home if only you made the right choices, but I S-ranked all three dates and no dice. I didn’t get the full score on date 2 though, and I did bang Robert, so maybe that’s it. But nobody has gotten the Escape from the Margarita Zone trophy yet, which makes me think that’s the trophy for homewrecking and also it’s glitched (I was a total dick to my daughter and didn’t get the World’s Okayest Dad trophy either).

A reminder that buying Day One games is pretty stupid. There are also some glitches that leave character portraits on screen after they should be gone, so it looks like they’ve got some patching to do.

The Nixie: A Curious Galleon and her Oddly Lush pirate playground Dockhouse. 

When she sails into her home slip in Vylbrand, the Free Trader Nixie turns a fair many beachgoer’s head. She seems too light in the water for her ponderous size: her mainmast encased entirely in crystal; her wooden decks threaded with cermet and darksteel; billowing, well-tended sails above and Garlean-inspired ceruleum engines below.  Rumor has it that the ship is haunted, though each retelling’s specifics vary, different hues of the same leaded-glass window. Some say the old Captain never really died, and her niece is merely covering for her, communing with her in secret. Others say that the ghosts of hundreds of namazu fill the decks at all hours with the squeaking candor of their fins. Still others claim the ship has captured a sea monster of eld, using it to power the peculiar vessel.

Whatever the truth may be, the Nixie’s crew isn’t too forthcoming to many about it, leaving passengers and visitors alike to draw their own conclusions. All are welcome to visit the ship when she’s in her home port, whether it’s to seek passage, to have a shipment delivered, or to enroll with the crew for adventures into uncharted territory. 

|| The Nixie is located on Mateus at Mist, Ward 14, Plot 6, and is the home of the Uncharted Territory FC. The house’s exterior is our dockhouse, gardens, and cafe, while the interior, unsurprisingly, is the ship’s interior. The Nixie’s current IC location can be seen in the Message from the Owner section of our guestbook; we always update it during FC events! || Some more info, including RP and recruitment info, under the cut!

Though the carrd and some restructuring are still in the works (though very close to completion), we are looking to recruit, and will begin doing so in earnest fairly soon (probably May, 2022). The goal will still be to have a smaller FC (50 people at the absolute max), so we’re also looking for other FCs or individuals who might want to RP with us who might not necessarily want to join a crazy haunted ship’s crew.

As far as FC recruitment goes, we are looking for roleplayers that are: 30+; that have an interest in running events as well as participating at least once every other Sunday; that enjoy the PvE aspect of this game to stay current on the story and locations, which we very much use IC; and are generally sociable people who also don’t mind people being quiet and doing their own things. 

IC-wise, we are a motley crew indeed, and can work pretty much any story into our crew’s. We do definitely need a dedicated medic, though. We even have a clinic for you! Not that we get into a lot of trouble out there or anything...

Date Palm Inn

( more specifically, an extended-stay suite within it.)

An inn room designed for when your party’s adventures take you to Thanalan, and the Quicksand is either booked or not to your liking. Smelling of well-oiled wood and the comfortable dry dust of a converted attic (because that’s exactly what this place is), your stay includes attentive staff and room service just a linkpearl’s jingle away.

I’ve spent quite some time turning my lesser-played alts’ apartments into places open for RPers to enjoy, should they so choose. This room can be found on Mateus, The Goblet, 3rd Ward, Sultana’s Breath Wing 1, Room #24. 

(This was fun and cozy to do. I started off with the vague concept of Classic Final Fantasy Inn with the three beds and a table, and then added in But What If Extended Stay Attic In The Desert?!)

The May Queen.

I had a wonderful time at the Faerie Prom this evening! Amazing music, great events, a thoughtful menu, and a lot of good ambient RP. Also, much to my surprise, I won a costume contest of sorts as The May Queen, and had the honor of serving as a Knight of the Seelie for the evening. Everyone had such lovely glamours, and I absolutely loved the whole concept that everyone was very dedicated to!

All sass with no frass!

This has nothing to do with XIV Write, and apologies to people who have already had to put up with me squealing about this ( @whitherwanderer​ , @knight-in-voeburt​ , @clockworkdragonffxiv​, @liminal-storage​, my IRL husband who does not have a tumblr ), but...Anne-Sophie is my first-ever not-tall character in my seven (gods it IS seven now isn’t it?!) years of playing this game. I have spent so much time making Femroe and Duderoe and Elezen and Highlanders look nice, and the secret all along was that Midlanders are ACTUAL BARBIES. They are SO FUN to play dress-up with, and everything looks awesome on them. (I understand this is true with miqo’te and many things on the Female Au Ra, as well!)  So yes, my Midlander Ishgardian Barbie :tm: will be making a lot more appearances here. One, because I’m using XivWrite this year to develop her, and two, because she is literally fun to play dress-up with.
