carmy x f!reader in labor and post-birth fluff?
You rolled your neck gently from side to side - slowly waking from your nap. The low hum of machinery and steady beeps serving as a reminder you were still in the birthing suite.
"Carmen?" You asked quietly, eyes adjusting to the dim light of the room. It was about six and though there was a dinner tray now in the corner of the room, Carmen had been supplying homemade meals since you'd arrived at the hospital the day before. He'd packed a cooler that was waiting to be filled right next to your go-bag for days.
"Hi Baby," he greeted quietly from the chair next to the hospital bed.
"Where's my baby?" You asked, rubbing your eyes gently before finally focusing.
"I got her right here," he said, "I think she's hungry for you," he said. You looked over to see her cradled to Carmen's bare chest, a blanket draped over his back.
"Hi Sunny girl," you smiled, absolutely and entirely in love. "Has she been good?" You asked.
"You've been asleep for an hour - she's been perfect," Carmen smiled up at you, stars in his eyes. "I changed a diaper and we looked out the window," he explained.
"You been holding her the whole time?" You asked, to which he nodded, his unbreakable eye contact causing you to fall in love with him all over again. He shuffled over, carefully settling her in your arms and you positioned her so she could easily latch on for dinner. Carmen's arms laid his arms across the rail of your bed, his head resting on them as he watched his daughter nurse gently.
"You are my sunshine, my only sunshine," you sang quietly as she looked up at you with those same blue eyes. "You make me happy when skies are grey."
Carmen ran his hand gently over her impossibly soft baby hairs, Sunny completely undeterred by her father's disturbance to her meal.
"She's so small," he commented, "she doesn't even have eyelashes or eyebrows," he grinned.
You laughed softly, careful not to jostle her.
"Well we know that she'll get those from Daddy," you remarked quietly. "I hope she gets your curls, too," you added.
"She has your little nose," he said, eyes glued to his Sunshine.
"My ears, too," you replied. The two of you fell into comfortable silence as you watched Sunny nurse.
"You're the only person that gets to cook for her for like seven months," he grumbled, making a wide smile split across your face.
"I don't mind you being my exclusive chef for a bit longer," you smiled, head resting back against her hospital bed pillow. Carmen's eyes trailed from the part of your hair down to the tip of your chin, bouncing over to Sunny.
"You are the most beautiful woman I've ever seen," He said earnestly, making your eyes misty.
"Carm," you smiled gently, "don't make me cry."
"Can't believe how lucky I am," he added before you fell into comfortable silence yet again.
"You are my sunshine, my only Sunshine."
