✨My opinion on the ESC songs this year ✨

(before rehearsals and stuff)

Albania: I've seen many people ranking it low but I actually like it. By far not my fav but it's still good imo.

Armenia: I really like this one, added it to my playlist. And her live vocals are good, so that's nice.

Australia: Not my cup of tea tbh.

Austria: This song absolutely slaps, I love it. One of my favs this year

Azerbaijan: Also not my cup of tea but I still think it's a good song.

Belgium: At first, I wasn't a big fan but after listening to it from time to time I like it better.

Croatia: This one I really love. It's peak ESC. I wouldn't listen to it in my free time, but for esc it's perfect.

Cyprus: I kinda forget about that song most of the time. I mean it's good and stuff, but easy to forget, for me at least haha.

Czechia: Also one of my favs this year! Been listening to it since they won national selection. Sadly their staging and live vocals weren't that good at the pre parties but I'm hoping they'll improve.

Denmark: Not a fan of this style of song to be honest.

Estonia: It's a good song but not something I would listen to after ESC.

Finland: That is my favourite this year! I love this song so much and Käärijä is also such a sweetheart. It's crazy, it's party.

France: Probably an unpopular opinion but I liked their entry last year more. Song still slays.

Georgia: The lyrics don't really make sense but she can sing live, so that's a plus!

Germany: What can I say? I don't have to be ashamed of our song this year. Finally. I really hope they'll do good with the televote to show the old boring German boomers they were the right decision.

Greece: Even more forgettable than Cyprus for me.

Iceland: She should have stuck with the Icelandic version imo. Would have liked that a lot more.

Ireland: Boring, I'm sorry.

Isreal: I don't really get the hype? There is so much going on, idk.

Italy: I'm a sucker for the Italian language and the Italian entries the last few years so I'm a fan.

Latvia: A really good song. I hope they'll do well.

Lithuania: No, not a fan, although I like the ending.

Malta: I don't know what to think of it. Sometimes I like it, sometimes I absolutely can't stand it haha.

Moldova: I love Pasha and I love this song. Moldova absolutely delivered and I hope he does well.

Netherlands: You can hear the influence Duncan had on it. It's okay.

Norway: I liked Jone a lot more but I think Alessandra was the best pick for Norway to get high in the rankings. The song is very catchy. Personally I've heard the song too much on TikTok already.

Poland: No.

Portugal: At first, I didn't really care for it but with each listen I like it more.

Romania: Now that's a really unpopular opinion but I absolutely love this song. Theodor has an amazing voice for a 18 year old. Pls listen to his ESC medley, it's so good. I agree that the staging is bad but I heard he'll change it for the Semi, so I'm hoping people will see his potential.

San Marino: It's kinda catchy idk haha.

Serbia: The lyrics are very relatable lol. I'm not the biggest fan tho, still hope he does good, I love these kind of entries.

Slovenia: This one is sooo good. I was very sad when Slovenia didn't qualify last year for the final, so I'm hoping they'll do this year.

Spain: From what I've seen people either hate or love it, no in between. I love it.

Sweden: Sorry to all the Loreen stans but I have a problem with her: I don't understand what she's singing. It got better with Tattoo since Euphoria, but it's still so muffled to me .

Switzerland: Nah, don't like it.

Ukraine: I really like this one, especially the revamp with the Ukrainian parts in it.

UK: Too generic for me. But it did get stuck in my head so it did it's job haha.

Very excited for the upcoming weeks and how my view on some of the songs will change 👀

Spaus!!!!!! Spain and Austria!!!! I talk about Fraus but Spaus??? Nationverse Spaus??? They had the same thing going except.. a very different energy. These are two men who married while still trying to find where they fit in the world, they fought wars against each other, they were not perfect in any way, but they were husbands, and they always respected each other as such. Human AUs, same thing, they weren’t perfect, they had to grow so much to get to where they are, and often times they'd go DAYS without speaking to each other, but they'd still sit down and chat with their music, Spain on the guitar and Austria on the piano, sometimes they wouldn't play long, but just a few notes and strums exchanged served as a reminder that when they're ready to talk again, they're both ready for each other

⚜ What would my ships be like as parents?

Ok! I’ll start out with the ones that I’ve already given children :)

2p Ancient Greece and 2p Ancient Rome (Famous AU): They..... they really tried... they tried so hard to work out their issues for the grandkids, but of course in the end that never works.. they raised the Italy brothers after an accident happened that left them as orphans. Eventually, Melita did leave Cassius, but she also left the grandkids to be looked after by him, and she continued to be absent until the kids were in there mid-20's. Cassius tried his best with what he had, but his best wasn't healthy and was too much self projection because he didn't want them to be hurt as he was, but it backfired, it backfired a lot.

2p Germania and 2p Ancient Rome (Famous AU): Cassius was there to help Berinhart help raise Roland the moment Roland was turned over to Ber's custody, like, that very night. Though Cassius wasn't always present because he was still "with Melita" at that time, but once he was responsible for his own grandchildren, that did start changing in "getting the kids together for socializing" so they could start seeing each other more. Berinhart is a good parent, well rounded and knows how to motivate positively for even the most mundane things

2p Sweden and 2p Finland (most AUs): They adopted two kids: Jack (2pSealand) and Kurt (2pLadonia). Tobbe’s not the best with getting along with children but he’ll be damned if he’s not going to try his best to be with Vaito to raise them with him. Tobbe makes the meals and teaches them to cook and how to clean up after themselves and Vaito teaches them how to clean up bigger messes so Tobbe doesn't have to look at them. Kurt and Jack are in good hands :)

2p France and 2p Austria (however this is only in my Genshin Impact/2ptalia crossover au): François isn’t really interested in a kid of his own and didn't know Roland "had" a kid until he went back to Roland's hometown with him, it's not that Roland didn't talk about Nikki, it's that he never mentioned that he was actually the one raising them until Roland left to travel the world, which left Nikki with Berinhart. François is glad he doesn't have a complete parental role with Nikki but he will fight tooth and nail if harm ever falls on them. And Roland loved taking care of Nikki because they're a founding just as he is but he just didn't feel like he was prepared or good enough to be a good parent for them.

Imfact – The Light

Track that made me stan Imfact completely and make them my second ultimate bias group. Honestly the best thing I’ve encountered in 2018 and I was lucky enough to see this one performed live.

Monsta X – Jealousy

My babes made a bop of 2018 once again huh? Sexy, powerful, aesthetical, with nice visuals, strong vocals and impactful choreography. Changkyun and Jooheon’s rap cured my acne tbh *whispers: jealousy baby jealousy*

Woodie Gochild – Muse (feat. Jay Park, Sik-K)

Another new artist coming into my life, thank god for Jay who finds all these gems like Woojae. The pigeon boi from SMTM6 became the light of my life with his crooked teeth and weird voice.

Sik-K – Fire

THE MOST POWERFUL SONG EVER MADE DON’T @ ME

I love how Minsik and bois from Groovy made most non-hiphop thing ever and nailed it anyways hdfhdjh

I love jamming out to this in the darkness with wine, that’s just the mood of the song.  Luring voice and the weirdest in the best way English lyrics, I stan!!

The Rose – Baby

STAN THE ROSE FFS Once again I had huge luck to see my babes live and let me tell you, this song sounds even better in person! This one gets The Most Iconic Drop award from me.

Big Bang – Flower Road

Is it emo hours already? Cause I miss my oldies goldies and their group music. Flower Road makes me think of summer and spending time in the countryside with your friends and running to the river.

Day6 – Headache

Listen, the theory about Day6 not having bad songs is not a theory, it’s a pure fact. It was so hard to choose on song from all their releases and I’m still battled between Headache and 121U because they both slap hard :/

Mino – Fiancé

This man is my king and I even have bleached brows/hair look inspired by him now, it’s no surprise I added his solo debut to the list. Again, his whole album is a huge bop, Rocket and UM are my faves apart from Fiancé.

Jung Jinwoo – She’s Got Everything

Artists from PLT released so many amazing tracks this year it’s insane! I realized I have three in here and I could’ve added even more sjhdjhf Jinwoo is so multitalented and underrated, it hurts.

Bloo – I’m The One

If you ever want to travel to another world while listening to someone’s voice – just open this link and get started with it. Heartbreak anthems from Daniel are nice but love anthems are even better.

ATEEZ – Treasure

Even if I’m a fan of funky and upbeat songs like Pirate King, Treasure still owns my heart being a little calmer and acing the vocals. Honestly, the MV is also extremely magical?? ATEEZ are a huge stanning material, don’t hesitate and become an Atiny.

kuzi – Badmind

Almost NO ONE knows who Kuzi is but I’m happy that I got to find out about him. He’s a nice young boy from Dickids and went by Hot Kuzi before and you should listen to his whole mixtape if you like hip-hop and trap.

PLT – Hocus Pocus

Another PLT track, are you even surprised? Hocus Pocus is something really precious to my heart as even my parents love it and it made me discover artists apart from my sweet Gaho.

Jay Park – V

The king has come to my list everybody! Such a lovey-dovey song this one is~~ Jaebum dropped bop after bop, Sexy 4Eva, Millions, one hundred features and he’s also a CEO? Get me a mans like him.

pH-1 – Cupid

Listen, Taehyun was a huge mess after leaving Winner but look at him now! The punk spirit in his songs always inspires me to be myself.

Vinxen – How Do You Feel

A super emotional but calm track with intimate lyrics. TW for self-harm. It’s the best when you walk home in the evening and look around at people; start feeling like they don’t really exist and everything is a movie.

Snuper – Tulips

Started stanning this fab group after went to the Korean festival and saw them live, Snuper are xtremely underrated and even this comeback is not really popular even though the song is amazing and catchy L

NCT U – Boss

The country I live in, Ukraine had an honor to welcome NCT U into its arms where they filmed Boss and Baby Don’t Stop so it had a huge meaning to me + we also got introduced to Lucas and Jungwoo.

Got7 – Thank You

Yes I’m boasting about seeing another kpop group live again please excuse me I’m just happy—Anyways, I cried when they sang this song during the concert.

Ilhoon – She’s Gone

I WAS SO SHOCKED BY ILHOON DAMN BOI I didn’t really get into his album because other tracks didn’t get enough of my attention but She’s Gone called me her bitch, I’m a sucker for this badass song.

RM – Seoul

RM’s mixtape is a masterpiece in its best. I’ve never thought he’d produce something like that and its difference had me lured in quickly… Such a chill album that got goosebumps crawling down my spine, I fell in love with it and I’m honestly questioning my bias list after it.

Lee Sang – Repetition

My underrated babies Imfact are here one more time, this time with Sang and his self-written song that made my heart bleed. His beautiful vocals complete the mood of it so perfectly; it makes me miss someone who doesn’t exist.

Sam Kim – Make Up (feat. Crush)

Something that made the end of 2018 awesome for me is this collab and Sam Kim’s perfect voice. This has a catchy tune and it got stuck in my head for a while.

Villain – Manitto

My mom said that Villain is the coolest in PLT the first thing when she saw them all in one MV and told me he needs to be my favourite so here we are I guess hdfdfhfj I know I said it about lots of tracks before but that’s such a bop please give it a listen!!

Flowsik & Jessi – Wet

The most badass release of 2018? I think so. Jessi is a queen and a girl crush and just someone I look up to quite a lot, her rap is very well complimented by Flowsik and his raspy voice. (also Jessi is slapping bois butts in the MV, go watch it)

Dean – Instagram

Even though some fans were upset that that’s not Dean’s style I don’t agree. Dean’s style is whatever Dean decides to be his style, okay? Instagram is amazing and it has an amazing message to it.

Jonghyun – Take The Dive

The whole album was hard to listen to; I think we can all agree with it. Yet, it’s very beautiful and is always worth a listen when you feel like giving up. Our moon is always looking over us.

Yoonmin Fandom Metrics

 Last month a survey was conducted to analyze the metrics of the Yoonmin fandom. Here are some of the responses:

Of these 903 responses, 826 of them (92%) of the respondents had selected that yoonmin are their only ship, their main ship or one of their main ships. This group is the one that will be focused on for the rest of this analysis. (Also was that one person lost? Did you get home okay?)

Of this focus group who mainly ship yoonmin, the bias distribution was:

Unsurprisingly, Min Yoongi and Park Jimin, the two individuals responsible for the YOON and the MIN in yoonmin, came out as the top two biases’. 

However, Min Yoongi, with a staggering count of 453 votes (55%) heavily outweighed all the other members, hereby proving that he was in fact not fucking around when he claimed “Sorry mom, your son’s too popular,” in his Mic Drop verse. 

As a follow up to these results, respondents provided their second bias (if any) to help the other members stand a chance against Rap God Min Yoongi. 

(He still took a whopping 23% of the votes). 

The most interesting part about these graphs is that it alludes to the fact that most yoonmin stans bias Yoongi (not Jimin, although he is obviously second in rank). This is probably due to the fact that of the “popular” bangtan ships, Jimin’s name comes up multiple times. Thus Jimin stans are more evenly split in who they ship Jimin with, but there are not that many “popular” Yoongi ships.

A little more detail on the focus group and how they came to stan bts and ship yoonmin is summarized in the following graphs.

BTS’ popularity has grown exponentially, with the greatest increase seen from 2014-2015 due to the release of their HYYH series. A parallel trend was observed in this analysis with the growth of the Yoonmin Fandom.

The next part of the survey focused on “Secondary Fan Creations” as Mr. Bang likes to call them. This includes but is not limited to: fan art, fan fiction, photo edits, video edits, blog posts, memes and so forth.

The results show that 99% of us are on Tumblr for the right reasons.

In terms of creating fan content, 31% of the respondents bless us on the daily with their contributions to the fandom. (Amen.) The rest of the majority enjoys and wishes to contribute to doing the lord’s work. 2% of the respondents who consider yoonmin their main or only ship do not create or want to create fan content because they think it is wrong (and that’s okay - to each their own). 

The next question was the most revealing and one of the most important to this analysis. Of the 861 responses, 640 voted that the reason they ship yoonmin is due to their relationship / interactions themselves. Only 2-4% of the respondents said they shipped yoonmin because of how they look together/aesthetics, fan content, external influences, or the availability of yoonmin materials in the fandom itself. This outright disproves the common (and tired) anti-yoonmin stan (and “rare pair” stan) claims that yoonmin is usually shipped for these reasons.  

Of the 30 respondents that chose “other” their reasons often eluded to specifics moments / interactions by yoonmin. Some of the more notable mentions are:

“They look like they understand each other’s struggles.“

“Their real and supportive friendship, they know each other's limits and share their vulnerabilities, so soft for each other, involve each other in the most intimate parts of their life.”

“Everything?? Idk they just vibe with me best, they're lovely and sift but also savage and have a really fun dynamic that i enjoy best.. they calm me when I’m upset as well which is like surprising bc I don’t calm down easily. +their soft moments like the earlier answer.” 

“Because Yoongi is so whipped for Jimin and they look at each other like they have galaxies in their eyes“ 

“They look like they are real / they act like they are married / they honestly seem like they’re in love.” 

“the way they are with each other in general. platonic or not, they love each other, care for each other a lot and it's nice to see. “

“From what I saw, it felt very real. Like yeah, I could get that super unbreakable bond with all of the BTS ships but for some reason, Yoonmin just stuck out for me and it felt really genuine and not just for fanservice.“ 

“Just...everything” (Many of you said this or voted for multiple categories from the above so everything x 10)

“You Know” (thank you Anonymous, I do know :’). 

There were so many other great ones yoonmin is such a soft ship with even softER STANS istg but I won’t post them all here but you can see them in this supporting post.

It is commonly believed that ALL yoonmin stans only ship them because of the “typical” subby bottom jimin/ dom top yoongi stereotype. The data below proves this is untrue - as 34% of respondents don’t care at all or like all dynamics equally, and 18% prefer a more balanced switch relationship dynamic. Combined, the votes for these categories make up over 50% of the responses, signifying that, no, not all yoonmin stans, in fact not even the majority of yoonmin stans, ship them for this reason. 

It should be noted though that, of the 48% of fans who expressed a preference for a specific relationship dynamic, 5% preferred top jimin and 43% preferred top yoongi (so yeah, top yoongi is more popular, but only to the minority group of the stans who actually have a specific dynamic preference).

Similar results were observed for which dynamics yoonmin stans feel are most realistic.

1. Are you named after anyone?

Nope, my name was chosen by draw by my fathers ex collegues. If I was a boy I would be either called Thomas or by my father Peter and knowing him he would definitely choose his name so yeah

2. When was the last time you cried?

Eeh probably two weeks ago?? I had a pretty bad weekend back then

3. Do you have kids?

No

4. Do you use sarcasm a lot?

Sometimes, it really depends on the people I’m around. Tbh I do not see myself to be a sarcastic person so I guess it depends on the situation. I think that if I use it then i tis mostly around my family and close friends. I do not open up to strangers or at school or in  public to people so it is only natural I would be less sarcastic

5. What’s the first thing you notice about people?

In general, I think I look at theor face firts then rest of the body. I do think I judge people based on theri first impression on me at least for a while before i get to know them better soo I am not immune to making prejuduces about them. I guess if someone were to look in my head they would want to have nothing to do with me lol I tend to judge the way they talk or what face expression they make biut mostly I judge their appearance. Sight I think that is also why I cant get boyfriend – I have a certain prefernces even in looks but those guys tend to be the worst or the y are gay or they are taken so yeah

6. What’s your eye color?

Grey blue – I was born with blue eyes but you know how they change during life – my dad has very strange color combinantions and I inhereted that from him I guess – in differnt light they may appear green, gray or even blue. All in all just know they are mostly greyish blue

7. Scary movie or happy ending?

I generally don’t like scary movies unless we are talking about surreal horor or psychological horror such as was anime and game Higurashi. I do not do well with gore but that series was waay more than that and so I did not mind. I think I do like happy endings over scary ones – I grew up on  fairytales and later as a teen on rom cons after all- but lately since I started to like thrillers and crimi series –and played  lots of games with that genre- I started to welcome bad endings too. It is fiction after all and sometimes some pretty shitty but well written bad ending can be waay better than happy ending / thats is why I was sad to learn everything turned out well in Clannad – the ending with Tomoya losing all was freaking sad but amazing and realistic af which I always appreciate

8. Any special talents?

I tend to think I am just average in everything I do. I am so jealous over anyone who has high IQ for example it feels like those guys just swim through life without any worries or care in the world whike I struggle here in academics. If they appear arrogant about it that is. Aside from itellegence I do not excel in other areas that much as well.

9. Where were you born?

In a very small country in Middle Europe – we are surrounded by countries such as Poland, Hungary and even Ukraine and Austria. I was born in second biggest city here but compared to rest of Europe we do not stand out that much. I leave our flag here so you can check it out. We have a beautiful mountains up in north for which we are well known for and our surrounding countries often visit them

10. What are your hobbies?

I like lots of things but not all of them can be called hobbies I do not engage in them that much. Those hobbies would be walking with my dog, swimming, cycling and dancing. Then there are my true hobbies – those include reading books, playing otomr or RPG games and as you all know anime and manga. I used to draw a lot too as a kid but I am not good and i tis not something I can do as I am nt patient enough. Then I also used to sing a lot with my grandpa. I think singing would have becomem my oassion and a career if I could actually sing, Musicv is also one of my true hobbies I love listening to my favourite bands and my favourite anime opening, endings or OSTs. Mazbe one day I decide to learn how to play guitar – my one and only attempt to enjoy music at its fullest – I have been playing wit that idea from time to time in the past but again I am too lazy to star anything new at this point.

We have a dog bamed Ben he is 12 years old now ^^

12. What sports do you play/have you played?

I did swimming, soccer, netball and volleyball school during PE pnly which I kinda enjoyed. Indon’t play any particular sports or exercise

Around 5’1 (156.5 cm) yes I am a smol bean too(>_<) – it is a still mystery to me how I could stop and did not grow at least that 0.5 cm

14. Favorite subject in school?

History, Art -bless my elemetary days the only days I had art classes in my life-, Literature and Social studies – and that mainly Psychology and Philosophy- if I did not decide I am not gonna listen to people problems as to avoid possibe depression-and trust me I was thinking about taking Psychology course a lot -even my dad told me I should- then I would. Also I loved talking about philosophers I think history gaves us a very inetresting ones but once again I did not see any point in talking Philosophy if I am not planning to become philospher myself ofc. I guess I only liked to learn about them – not to study and analyse them for the rest of my life.

15. Dream job?

My decision to take English language course was probably not the brightest idea but it was the only idea I had and could take at the time. I still have not freaking idea what to do with myself I am kind of still stuck at stalemate. The first step was to stalemate what I did not wanted to do, and I found I mostly crossed every option I considered – I have enough thought about acting as I used to do that as a kid and was quite good, but I have not further experience for more than 10 years. The one thing I always loved are books and I used to think I could live as a writer, but real-life situation is different isn’t it. Well, I have never thought about it much up until I discovered Japanese literature thanks to BSD and it I like a whole new world opened to me so now there is a tiny voice in my head telling me that that’s what I must do. I still have no idea what job I am gonna do once I have my degree but one thing is certain to me- one day I am gonna wake up from this slumber and write a book – not because I have to but because I want to.

Asnwer 11 questions, ask 11 questions, and tag 11 people, here we go:

1. If there’s one language you would want to know how to speak, which would it be?

Finnish or Ukrainian. This is my background and I’ve heard various phrases over the years from my mother and my aunt, but know next to nothing of the language. I don’t have any family that I know of in the Ukraine, there is some in Finland but we don’t really know them. I think I’d like to though, my grandmother was one of 11 kids, so the family’s pretty big.

2. If given the option, would you rather go to the future, or travel back in time?

Definitely the future! I always say I was born in the wrong era - too early for space exploration. I’ve been fascinated with space for as long as I can remember. (Probably when I first watched star wars tbh). And there are no hearing aids in the past so I’d be screwed!

3. Where do you find peace?

This is tricky, most of the time I crave the quiet and being alone and will get antsy if I’ve constantly been around people for more than a few days. However, every now and then I get restless and I need to be active. C’mon brain work with me.

Above all though, when I’m sad I watch Harry Potter or Lord of the Rings - aka my favourite movies.

4. If you were an animal, which would you be?

Well apparently my patronous is a bat, which I find VERY ironic because they have amazing hearing right? I laughed a lot when I did the quiz considering I’m hearing impaired RIP. But I’d probably be a cat. I can sometimes be aloof, don’t always want to be touched, and I’m very observant.

5. Thoughts on fairy lights?

I don’t think I have any thoughts? They’re pretty on the trees in December when they line the streets in the city.

6. Do you have a piece of jewelry that you always wear no matter what? Can you tell something about it?

Yes, it’s a silver necklace. A small heart with diamonds running down the one side and it’s on a thin chain (Which I’ve broken a handful of times and had to replace).

My best friend gave it to me when I was...13? She passed away when I was 15 and I wear it nearly every day. I pretty much don’t wear any other necklaces. I have a bunch of ear piercings I switch it out more.

7. What is your favourite fruit? (you’re allowed to pick multiple ones)

Cherries!! I die for them in the summer.

8. City or country side?

City! I grew up on the outskirts of one and my parents would always take me in on day trips and I’d just be fascinated. The tall buildings, the lights, the subways, the chaos of it all.

9. Do you prefer the main course of dessert?

Main course. I’m not a big dessert person, more so a snack person? Oreos are my weakness but I’m not counting that as dessert ;)

10. What would be the first thing you’d do when meeting Louis?

I don’t think I’ve ever actually thought about meeting the boys or what I’d do. I remember seeing the pictures from OTRA when they were in Toronto and Liam was at the mall and Niall was walking the streets and I was stressed tf out. I would probably just stare awkwardly. I don’t have a big interest in personally meeting them. I think if I met Louis and got the chance to talk to him, I’d tell him how brave I thought he was.

11. What is your favourite quote?

Hmm..I don’t think I have a favourite quote, but more a saying? I’m a big believer in not burning any of your bridges. Whether it be friendships, relationships, or work relationships. You never know when you’ll need a connection again in the future and if you ended things badly, then you’ll never have it again.
