Nobody: Why do artists refer to their fictional characters as their son/daughter/child? Isn't that odd?
Me: Look, if it was good enough for Herge to refer to Tintin as his "son" in letters to his translator, it's good enough for me.

Pearlescentmoon Art Propaganda!
Pearl did a stream today where she showed off some of her traditional art, and honestly, I have not see nearly enough people talking about it. As a person who also mostly does traditional art, with an especial fondness for pen and ink work, it made me so happy to see one of my comfort mcyters and favorite hermitcraft members working in my favorite medium. Here's some Pearl Art propaganda because guys, she's seriously good and I wholly recommend that you check out her stream for yourselves because my screenshots can not capture the little flips of her sketchbook and the magic of watching her drawing come together.
she worked on this beautiful drawing of a bird today. The stippling on the beak is incredible, the contrast between dark and light on the feathers is amazing thanks to the hatching work.
Her coloring skills were immaculate too, though! I'm in love with this fish drawing.
She also showed off some old sketch work she did of birds, in pen and ink!
I love how she talks about the references she uses! Also, there are so many different shading techniques among all these different drawings; I love their intricacy and I'm sorry the screenshots don't show them off well enough.
My favorite part might have been when she showed her sketchbooks, though. They're full of ideas, and I love the way she designs her minecraft builds in them. Her architecture sketches are beautiful and there were a lot of sketchbook pages that I don't have in my screenshots.
Pearl is an amazing artist in and outside of minecraft, and like all artists you can see her grow and progress over time, which I absolutely love. Please check out her work and show her some love; and thank you Pearl for showing us your amazing work!

One of my favourite nuances in the show is the fact that Five is the most revered assassin, the most effective weapon the Commission ever brought forth, not because he is the best at killing, but because he is the best at surviving.
Everything Five ever does in fight scenes, and often beyond, is not primarily motivated by ‘you will all die’, but more by ‘I will live, and I will do whatever it takes to do so’. He is not hellbent on murder or revenge, even though he easily could have written to be so, but his life, that of his siblings, that of humanity, always wins out over his resentment of the Commission, Five really is defined by his will to survive, his tenacity to cling to life and to believe that he can change things, and it’s a fascinating choice for the kind of character he is.
