My own thoughts on Shouto using “Dabi” instead of “Touya-nii” in chapter 336:
He uses the name ‘Dabi’ directly in connection with his firepower, and Shouto’s own training to withstand the heat of ‘cremation’. It confers distance between the person who’s hurt Shouto and his friends badly, and the brother he wishes to save, giving Touya some separation from Dabi’s acts. Shouto’s ultimate goal is to destroy ‘Dabi’, and retrieve ‘Touya’ from out of the twisted person he’s become.
And yeah (no hate Dabi-stans), he is twisted. He admits it himself… which doesn’t excuse AM callously saying as much to Shouto and class 1-A, but AM sometimes backslides into an old school view on villains. (But he’s not always wrong to do so. For all that I want those like Touya and Tenko saved, AFO and others like Garaki don’t deserve mercy.) However, it’s not Touya’s fault that he started down this path. His parents (lbr, it was 90% Enji) let him down. Heroes let him down. Society let him down. Everything he was raised to believe turned out to be hollow words, pure sophistry, and broken promises. That’s why Shouto and his generation will reclaim what being a true hero means by extending a hand towards those that were discarded by the current system.
Ultimately, Shouto does recognize ‘Dabi’ and ‘Touya-nii’ are the same person, guilty of the same crimes. I think he wants (for now at least) to keep this truth out of mind as he prepares for their confrontation. It’s going to be hard, painful, and bloody. Shouto doesn’t want to think about hurting his brother, or being hurt by him, though he’s realistic enough to know this is practically inevitable. While he still has a little time left, he’s calling him ‘Dabi’ because dwelling on the fact his murderous brother is out there, wanting to kill him and their entire family… it’s a lot for a sixteen year old boy, even one as (usually) composed as Shouto is, to cope with every second of the day. He cannot afford such a distraction right now, not while he’s preparing to help save the entire world.
Or like, that’s my overly long and complicated take.

Acosf review (with spoilers)
The story started out strong, like really strong, the best work from SJM so far. I cried multiple times, I felt so strongly for my homegirl Nesta.
But the story fizzled out towards the end imo, Cassian and Nesta was having too much sex for no reason at all. Like the first three or four times, IMMACULATE. feysand could never. But then towards the end they were becoming feysand 2.0.
Not always a bad thing, coz they’re a better written version of feysand, but in one of their sex scenes, like the one on the table, it felt more like feysand than nessian. They corrected course eventually, during solstice, but at one point there they were in the feysand rabbit hole.
There was also a lot of fan service in the last part, especially with Nesta participating in blood rite. I also didn’t like how much feysand we got in this book especially in the end and the whole pregnancy plot was just cringe.
There were things I waited so long to be addressed but they weren’t addressed, but coz of how the story unfolded, it didn’t matter anymore really, but I still wished they did.
Like almost everything from last solstice was addressed except for when Cassian said he didn’t understand how his sisters still love her & Cassian realizing he was so wrong about her bullshiit behavior. But then they were also indirectly resolved or addressed, only not to my satisfaction.
I did like and respect SJM for allowing the IC especially Rhys and feyre to be terrible, coz omg I know I’m biased but even if you liked them, you had to recognize how shitty they were most of the times in this book. And I also didn’t like how much they took over the story that was supposed to be about nesta and Cassian.
I honestly still dunno what Amren and Nesta fought about except for some bs reason that Amren chose feyre when everyone did choose feyre she was the high lady
Ugh elain, fucking elain. I hate her more than I do feyre. I was right about her and so glad she was called out on her bs multiple times. While the chasm between elain and nesta wasn’t resolved like with nesta and feyre was, I’m glad it wasn’t coz if the next book is about her and Azriel, elain has a lot of shit she needs to work out as well.
I still think that the fact Nesta is more powerful than anyone and can rule entire world not just pyrthian, they need to thank who they need to thank that nesta still has low self esteem even after everything that she’s just happy to have Cassian and the house of wind at the end of all this.
Give her time tho...give her time tho...😏
Cassian, I get it, to him feysand is relationship goals, not that he wants to be them but wants to feel deserving of what they have too. But boy is obsessed. I love how he defended and protected Nesta from the IC, and he was gonna die for her so there’s no questioning his love for Nesta, but at the same time, he was never really presented that conundrum or had to prove where his loyalty lies, is it with his mate or his high lord and lady
At best he played referee and stayed neutral and got in between them, but pushed come to shove, who will he defend and protect? My heart says nesta but logic dictates it will be Rhys or feyre.
The thing with Mor also never really addressed, even if nesta admits she’s jealous of her and her history with Cassian.
Basically Cassian got away with a lot of shit that should’ve been addressed but at the same time he also did a lot of things that proved himself and that those things didn’t seem important to address anymore, idk.
I still think it’s bullshit how IC decided to finally help Nesta, but I did like Nesta did the work all on her own afterwards and Cassian just needed to start listening instead of forcing her to do what he wants
I get the whole physical training thing and her leading her own army of female warriors I approve of that, but she never really trained her actual magical powers, like it was just assumed the physical training also helped with her magic but those are two different things??
I loved her friendship with emerie and gywn, I totally stan, one of my favorite things that happened to her. And the HOUSE.
Nesta smiling. Laughing. We got it multiple times. I loved it.
Did I love how Nessian was ultimately resolved? I did. The only parts I didn’t like about it was feysand stealing moments from them, like especially towards the end. They just admitted to themselves they’re mates couldn’t we savor that a little bit more but no I have to read about feysand stupid bargain and her bleeding.
I am iffy about the deserving storyline part, coz hate it but I also get it. I didn’t like that burden was all on Nesta, and that she didn’t deserve to be loved. Coz lbr none of these fuckers deserves her anyways, but it’s what she wanted, Amren’s friendship, her sisters forgiveness, Cassian’s everything, & honestly gaining Rhys respect and acceptance coz she might not like him but the people she loves does.
I did like that she resolved her issues with feysand without having to directly apologize to him or feyre, and she has Rhys kneeling and at the palm of her hand by the end of it, coz it’s not about Rhys it’s about the people they both love needing them to get over whatever it is they hate about each other.
While she did give back what she took from the cauldron, the mother still let her keep enough of it that she could still easily handle the Deathly Hallows (Harry Potter rip off). So that still makes her more powerful than most if not all of IC. She is still a death goddess who chose life.
I deserved to see their mating ceremony tho, like we couldn’t have an epilogue or one more chapter to show that
LOVED: nesta, the house, emerie, Cassian, Azriel, Gwynn
HATED: Elain, Amren, Mor, Rhys, Feyre, the tacky river house
DIDNT CARE: Lucien, Eris, the human queen, koschei, honestly the villains were bland I couldn’t care about the threat they posed, they were merely plot devices

💭 and 🍰 for the fic asks please! -diamond
💭 What is a headcanon you have about your own work?
In LWBE I headcanon that Veronica and Tia eventually adopt a cat together. Initially they're worried about how Veronica's chameleon George would react, but George doesn't care about the cat as long as Veronica pays attention to him too. Tia adores the cat and George is still growing on her
🍰 Name one of your fave comfort fics
I know this question says one but I have so many and I need to scream about all of them because whenever I feel the slightest bit down I read them and they always cheer me up, even just for a second so let's go
Nothing Revealed/ Everything Denied by @artificialortega this fic makes me go !!!! every time I read it. I do an embarassing little squeal at all the cute moments, wipe away tears of laughter at "Shit. Joe's got the accordion out" LITERALLY EVERY TIME, I adore this fic, it's actually just a massive hug
She's a cat by @winterboxx Right it's actually mad how many times I've read this and it still makes me feel the same way it did the first time I read it!! When I had covid this was ESPECIALLY the fic i pulled up almost every single day. It's got all my favourite things (cat, greentia, written by my beloved) what more could you want??
Down with the Recipe, Bake from the Heart by @junosjukebox Y'know when you eat a delicious cake and it's all you think about for the rest of the day/week/month? That is what this fic is for me. The fake dating, the real dating in the background, the general Bake Off setting (because lbr Bake Off is one of the ultimate comfort shows), the emotional final episode where the final three make SPEECHES ABOUT WHO THEY FELL IN LOVE WITH? Iconic.
(most of) the world's a stage by @comedychallenge Diamond this is just me coming out as a motwas stan (but we knew this already) because I love it and I love the way you've done the characterisation and the friendship groups and idk what it is, i just love it. And I love the way I know most things that are going to happen and I am EXCITED
I've had to slim the list down just so it's not too long but these are probably my top 4

my thoughts on the oliver twitter thing:
the joke wasn’t funny — it’s the same kind of thing some people will say and mean maliciously, and blaming oliver for not understanding the intent isn’t cool, especially when he has a history of (lbr) taking things personally
however!! the tweet wasn’t @ him and I don’t think it was right of him to put the girl on blast and then make a spectacle of leaving twitter (again). he could have just deactivated or blocked her.
ultimately, I’ll never understand fan/stan twitter and tbh this just reinforces my belief tumblr is a better fandom space than twitter lol bc there’s a 6000% less chance the people you’re talking about will stumble across your post

thinking about my problems w/ the reboots (and i include lau in that, which, like, probably a controversial opinion/hot take but, like, once upon a time the fandom wasn’t so favorable towards the lau trilogy and i remember clearly in the mid 2000s reading forums full of fans complaining about how they’d snapped/smashed their legend discs bc of how much they hated the game and how it ‘destroyed’ tr so, like, maybe people look on them fondly now solely bc of how much worse it got? even if people aren’t willing to accept that? just a thought,)
i think what’s ultimately so frustrating to me about them is how it sells this lie about “female empowerment”, and giving women a “relatable” protagonist “to look up to”, or w/e. like. firstly, there’s something patronising about us having to have an aspirational, representative protagonist - why can’t we just have a power-fantasy adventure. do you think guys are playing rdr because they want john marston to give them positive life lessons? huh. but lbr, you absolutely can draw inspiration from, and relate to, lara croft - i know i do. so there’s something incredibly cynical and manipulative, to me, about how the reboot gives us a ‘softened’ version of lara that we are never allowed to experience as a fully ‘empowered’ version of herself. she is ultimately restricted to being softer, more ‘feminine’ appropriate, which is always unfeminist bc it’s within the parameters of the patriarchal configuration of a woman’s place. i am convinced that the developers/publishers/everyone involved w/ every facet of making and marketing the reboots absolutely hate(d) lara croft. so we can be ‘empowered’ ONLY if we perform womanhood ‘appropriately’ - the messaging directly suggests that women who are ambitious, unemotive, independent, confident, or w/e are inherently wrong and lesser. and what’s especially gross is how this has trickled down into the way that the squeenix reboot stans (in particular) treat lara the character, and female fans of her. we are told that liking the classic, 90s lara is “unfeminist”, by people uncritically subscribing to a misogynistic reduction of a female protagonist as defined by the patriarchy.
anyway, i had more to say but this ended up longer than i meant so saving my next rant for another day

I NEED THOUGHTS ON THIS LAST STREAM. TOMMY TRAITOR ARC OPINIONS???? YES/NO??? DREAM ACTUALLY INVOLVING HIMSELF???
I WOULD FUCKING LOVE A TOMMY TRAITOR ARC BUT NOT LIKE. /EVIL/ TOMMY. More like a Tommy who feels so entrenched and trapped by Wilbur. That if he could somehow engratiate himself to Schlatt, could trick him into a trap of some sorts. A double/triple agent Tommy? Oh my goodness? Of course, Tommy has pressed he’d never betray Tubbo (and Wilbur, but at this point Tommy I think you should be allowed to betray Wilbur, as a treat) - but again, maybe Tommy isn’t a malicious traitor and more of a “I need to realign and refocus” traitor.
I could definitely see it working out, if only because Schlatt and Tommy do kind of vibe a little bit character wise (and ofc, OOC, Tommy is the ultimate schlatt stan lbr). And poor Tommy is so easily manipulated (don’t come at me with Tubbo, he’s not manipulated - he goes with the current) by those he trusts. I could see it working in that regard too and you could tie it with my first idea that Schlatt is preying on Tommy’s fears and exhaustion with Wilbur.
ALSO DREAM? DREAM IS 100% SOWING DISCORD WITHIN THE RANKS. Just like how I was pretty baffled people were believing some of the insane bullshit Wilbur was pulling after the festival announcement, why are you believing the words of a Literal God Of Chaos? Dream wants something.
Or he’s pulling the wool over Schlatt’s eyes too, but that feels a little bit boring.
He does still seem pretty attached to Tommy though and seemed a little sad for breaking his (little brother’s) friend’s heart with YET MORE BETRAYAL. Something’s up - because, again, Dream might have been sowing chaos and discord by giving Tommy and Techno gifts - and I am honestly at a loss for where Dream lies. Which is perfect, because he’s always played at that fickle and trickster God (which I have incorporated into some stuff of my own!). People make fun of Dream for not “role-playing” but the man’s a goddamn author. His voice might not be suited for it, but his attitude and writer-self is COMING OUT.

Top 5 ATLA/LOK characters 👀
Thanks for the ask!  Some LoK spoilers below (skip #5 if you don’t want spoilers):
1. KORRA!!!!!! I love her so much it makes me so sad to see people bash her for the same traits they love in cishet white men (and women too lbr).  She’s so strong and she’s a good person who’s doing everything she can to make the world a better place and I wish the writers hadn’t been so creepily obsessed with torturing her :(
Tumblr media
2. Katara! At 14 this girl literally fought the patriarchy and WON, became a master waterbender, went toe-to-toe with the best fighters in the world and held her own, incited a prison riot against the fire nation, saved an impoverished village from tyranny and pollution, and overthrew a genocidal tyrant!  We stan a goddamn QUEEN!!!
Tumblr media
3. Zuko-my darling <3  He’s been through so much pain and anguish and yet he still turned out to be a kind person!!!  Raised on Fire Nation propaganda since birth yet realizing the truth and rebelling!  Having to confront all the people he’d hurt, directly or indirectly, and make things right by them!  Still kicking ass and supporting the Avatar at 86!!!!!!  Raising his daughter to be a Boss-Ass Fire Lady!!! “That’s rough, buddy,”  We love a socially awkward firebending disaster child!
Tumblr media
4. Kyoshi-Do I even need to explain this one???  She literally Continent-bends!!!  Ultimate Queen of Gettin Shit Done!!!!!  She founded her own version of Themiscyra and her people still honor her legacy 300 years after her death!  And contrary to popular fanon, she actually WASN’T a ruthless bloodthirsty killer!  She did what she had to in order to protect her people and took responsibility for the consequences.  I actually believe she WOULDN’T call Aang a little bitch for not killing Ozai, but would’ve been proud of him for stopping a tyrant and delivering justice HIS way, without compromising his principles.  (Tho I am disappointed we never got a “Kyoshi Take the Wheel” moment with Korra like Roku did with Aang):
Tumblr media
5. Asami Sato-Gosh I love her so much!  She’s been through so much yet throughout it all she’s so kind and compassionate and just a total badass!!!  This woman lost her mother at a young age, didn’t really have any friends before she met the Krew at 18, cared deeply for Mako while he strung her along for months before dumping her for Korra, was betrayed by her father, sees him get thrown in prison, inherited a failing company, got betrayed by Mako AGAIN, got betrayed by Varrick, got close to Korra and developed romantic feelings for her only for her to disappear for three years, and lost her father shortly after reconciling with him.  And she’s still a kind person despite all of this pain!  She forgives Mako for treating her like shit, she doesn’t fight with Korra over Mako, she does everything she can to help the Krew and save the world!!!  She’s an expert mechanical engineer, ace pilot/driver, CEO, master hand-to-hand combat fighter, all by age 19!!!

Farya was not only a bad and unnecessary character, but was also sooo annoying, not only for me?
I mean…
outside how her character was out of the place, she wasn’t even likeable? My mum knew nothing of Ottoman history & how her character is so ahistorical and she hated Floprya so much, you cannot imagine.
Her ranting that if Mu/rat does not kill Ayşe, she will do it herself & being all “Damn ilahtar and Kösem, they will try to convince Murad not to kill Ayşe, and otherwise he’s so merciless DANG”.
Her feeling of superiority and being special truly shows you why she had best relations with
Mu/rat and Atike in the palace lmao.
She’s also repeatedly completely ignorant of Ottoman system & yet thinks she can be Valide (ater)?
Kösem, Gevherhan, and Ayşe told her multiple times how it works and what might ultimately befall her. Of course Ayşe wanted to just piss her off, but she actually told her truth – Murad was keeping her as his mistress closed in golden cage and just waiting when he decides to grace her with his presence, mostly at night to have some fun ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) . Living outside harem meant that (surprise!) She had a worse situation than slave Ayşe, who had an acknowledged & legitimate position as haseki and mother of princes. Being a foreign princess meant nothing there – she was kept in hiding, had no clear position in Murad’s life, and was actually living in sin with Mu/rat (yes, Murad was so mad about Kasim breaking the rules, but he was doing something far more scandalising himself when it came to sexual propriety & he was the ruling padişah). Her being so happy about not being placed in harem initially & thinking how she was so special she was given a separate palace.. shows precisely how ignorant she was of the system she CHOSE to live in.
Kösem and Gevherhan warned her how not having a kids meant she would later fade into obscurity & even legal marriage could not change it – she completely dismissed it because of “their great luv” & stuff.
Kösem knew Murad much better than Floprya did LBR and when she said his “great luv” would pass, she knew what she was talking about – she was even shocked when Mu/rat gifted Farya with necklace because it wasn’t in his nature to do romantic gestures and caring about giving his women gifts. And even if you don’t trust these women because they don’t like you much, look at how this man is truly behaving towards you (if you ignore his behaviour towards Ayşe because yes we know you are a special snowflake).
Ignoring stuff such as period-appropriate behaviour (Murad laughing at Farya wanting to command an Ottoman army, I guess even less misogynistic men would laugh her off), he calls her his prisoner even before the pig incident, and afterwards…. 1) he hits her without even asking her why she put a freakin’ pig in; 2) keeps her wounded and bleeding in cell while making his decision, at the same time being all emo about how poor HE is because he loves this woman and she hurt HIM so; 3) when he (graciously, please everyone clap) decides to spare her, he doesn’t just let her go, he makes a show in which he scares her and “shows her her rightful place” aka on her knees before him; 3) continues to be offended and passive aggressive towards her afterwards; 4) gives her throne away behind her back without even asking her if she wants to stay with him; 5) rides after her, tells her “you slept with me, so you are my woman & you belong in my harem” & takes her on his horse forcefully (it doesn’t matter if she secretly wanted it inside); 6) didn’t explain why he gave her family’s throne to someone else even after he took her back to the palace, Atike had to do it; 7) yes, kept her without any status and intention to change it hidden in another palace, without any participation in his daily life and only visiting her when it suited him, not even sticking to any promises to come if he decided so, only the terrible incident with Farya’s miscarriage made him marry her and seeing how his “great luv” began to die after it, one does question whether it was out of love or him simply wanting to show everyone (both his mother and subjects) that he could do as he pleased, even against any rules; 6) he actually never promised her he would marry her and not have other women, it was only Farya always saying this – conversely, in MY Suleiman DID actually promise this to Hürrem and then did not keep it [doesn’t make Murad less of a dick, but shows how delusional Farya might be because he never actually said so himself or agreed to it].
And I said in one of my previous posts how Hürrem (and any harem women) weren’t homewreckers because it was indeed their only chance to have a family & love, but damn Floprya is a homewrecker because she truly didn’t have to stay with Mu/rat – she had her family, her throne, friends to come back to… please you knew what mess you created by coming there, and you had all the signs how violent this guy was and about his attitude to women… you could truly do a lot better, honey.
Murad never saw her as a consort of importance either. He never asked for her opinion on anything (he’d sooner even ask his mother) and when she got an accidental chance to say something (pleading with him not to execute a poor guy who forgot his lamp to bring his dad dinner, nota bene an incident described by Ottoman historian Mustafa Naima, just without Farya in the picture obviously), he completely ignored her and looked pissed she even dared to do so. It was frankly the only instance Floprya tried to talk Mu/rat out of something bad – even when he executed people who simply had been on the market during the attack on her (and even completely unrelated ones as later turned out), even though Kosem had already punished the actual attackers, our “kind-hearted” Floprya did nothing…. I’m not surprised he didn’t consult her before because he never does & well… talking sense to him never works because Kösem tried to reason with him it’s wrong, even for him because it provides people who want to go between him and ordinary people with great opportunity… and he didn’t give a fuck as always, but Farya never said anything, even following this? It was a matter closely connected with her and we never even see them talking about this or Floprya’s reaction to it? I can’t believe she didn’t hear about this… she likely just didn’t care.
Kösem also told her that marrying a sultan is not enough, and (since we know she couldn’t have kids) she should at least drag her ass and do something useful, like take care of people? Well, it was the only time we saw Floprya doing charity.
Following the wedding, Mu/rat began to gradually lose interest in Farya, including going after Sanavber after he saw her with dagger pointed at him because it seems he has a dagger-fetish & now Floprya  even stopped wielding his favourite toy to have his attention… And again never forget Atike’s “Murad finally met a woman worthy of him, she can wield a sword like A MAN!” (STFU ALREADY ATIKE).
Speaking of Atike… Floprya encouraging Atike to pursue Silahtar even if it’s clear from Atike’s words he isn’t responsive to her, bah, even after it’s known he loves someone else… how stupid you can be to encourage Atike to get the guy who loves someone else and keep telling her again how special & daring she is, so go on and take what you want? Or Floprya threatening Silahtar to expose it was Gevherhan because he called her out on threatening Ayse at night with knife (yes, Ayşe was guilty, but there was no evidence at that point & it was not for her to go and punish somebody without evidence like that). He was just doing his job.
Farya later begins to openly mention her frustrations and how she’s now sidelined because she cannot have children… which of course makes her more the bitter and angry at Ayşe & striving towards revenge so bad – she  isn’t satisfied that Ayşe got exposed and would be punished, she wants her DEAD & would not accept any other option (never mind that poor, innocent children would be orphaned in such a case).
Even after  the matter is revealed and she does regret what she did, she’s as defensive as ever and tries to put all blame on depressed, abused woman aka Ayşe… she sees no fault of Mura/t’s there.
Still, she didn’t deserve execution for that, especially from hands of person who was chiefly responsible for the tragedy aka her husband… and her being pregnant saving her was meaningful.
Yet she continues to be ignorant about Ottoman system – now that Mura/t continues to pay her little attention even though she gave birth to two sons and instead spends time on drinking parties with Yusuf & other male buddies, she wants to be Valide and supports changing succession law back to the one involving fratricide… Okay, she doesn’t care about Murad’s brothers, but her own sons? Mu/rat being all “I don’t give a fuck” to Kösem pointing out one of his sons will kill the other is… well, him being himself, but Floprya should get worried about implications for her sons, right?
The scene with Sinan is SO indicative of Farya later on – she sits on balcony frustrated because she sits at palace all alone with her sons, while her hubby spends time on one of his parties & watching some (sexy!) dancer after promising her he would be now focused on his family (and even in that scene she still looked so scared of him), Sinan comes, calls her future "Valide Sultan”, she smirks, brightens up & already feels relevant and in better mood, so immediately does what he wants her to do and sends message to Mura/t about Kösem holding meeting with statesmen and ulema about changes in succession law.
Yet another win for Sinan!😂
Farya and Mu*rya stans claiming she was sooo "good-hearted” and they were equals.. were we watching the same show, eh? He didn’t treat her as her “equal” or whatever, even in “their best days”. The relationship was a disaster WAY before he tried to kill her.
I really never hated MY/K ship as much as I hated Mu*ya, a total disaster that really had nothing appealing to me – it was straight-up abusive plus it wasn’t even interesting. I swear even Mihrimah and Rüstem, while thouroughly dysfunctional, were more interesting to watch as a totally fucked up, toxic couple ugh.

did it just occur to me to ask you for crossover headcanons? yes. am i dumb? also yes. anyway... any of your thoughts on oliver and elsa and/or oliver and ari? 👀
yessss
OKAY LETS SEE
Oliver & Elsa:
Oliver constantly has a new mermaid themed nickname for her (but usually falls back on Ariel)
Elsa is the ultimate Olisaac shipper tbh
Oliver making an effort to make up with Stiles bc he knows Elsa cares about him
Elsa pushing Stiles to apologize to Oliver
Ride or die af
Bonding over being mad at Allison post S2 when everyone else is acting like she’s never done anything wrong
Maybe Elsa ends up living with Oliver instead of Derek?  (she doesn’t want to live with Scott like Isaac does bc Allison is around)
Oliver makes a ridiculous amount of Frozen references and Elsa learns to manipulate water just to pelt him with snowballs
Isaac: How am I third wheeling my boyfriend and my twin
End up being the popular squad with Lydia and Jackson and Elsa has no idea how that happened
Elsa does return to Beacon Hills after running away to France for a while so the trio running around France like chaotic idiots and we love them for it
the most supportive best friends tbh
contact names regularly switch between being super soft and dorky af
Movie nights!!!!!
Elsa calling him her brother
Tumblr media
Oliver & Arianne
ICONIC THO
Oliver already knowing Ari because he’s there every time she visits Beacon hills
Ari showing up at the hospital and Oliver immediately hugging her and comforting her
Making everyone else leave bc he knows Ari needs to break down in private
Ari bringing Oliver to red carpet events (and introducing him to his favourite pop groups)
Always flirting with Derek together
Oliver being like “I can’t fight but I’m going to throw hands with everyone who treats Ari badly”
Also Ari being ready to murder anyone for Oliver
Popular squad
Oliver: I’m an Arianne Martin stan first and a human second Lydia: you’re... not a human though Oliver: I said what I said
Half of Ari’s instagram feed turns into selfies with Oliver (yes, all of her fans think they’re dating)
Oliver probably changes his instagram bio to “Arianne Martin stan account”
Lbr Ari has probably written songs about him
I’m not saying he cries when he hears them but he cries when he hears them
I just love them a lot okay

She-Ra season 2 episodes, ranked
All right, I have a lot of feelings about She-Ra season 2 and what was good and not so good. I’ve been doing a lot of shitposting but this is legit analysis/meta, or at least it wants to be.
To be fair, though I’m trying to rank these as objectively as possible, it will be influenced by what I care most about and find most interesting in the series. I stan Catra and the Superpal Trio and think Adora is a loveable mess, and I really can’t stand Swift Wind. So, take this with a grain of salt. Needless to say, SPOILERS AHEAD.
7. 2x03 “Signals”
I would rank this episode higher, except the A plot was so meh. It felt like it should have been a Halloween special, and if it was I’d give it a pass, but I found it so thoroughly disinteresting I all but tuned out. Of course, people who stan the Best Friend Squad might have still loved it, but their dynamic isn’t as interesting for me anymore because we’ve seen so much of it, and this episode didn’t do much to change it other than add Swift Wind in (and he really, really annoys me). The only real thing it did to move the plot forward was introduce the subplot about the mysterious transmissions, and it didn’t do anything characterization wise. Ultimately, it’s a set up episode, and to be fair it might be more interesting in retrospect once we get some payoff and see where that whole thing is going. But I dunno, I kinda doubt it.
It’s mostly a set up episode in the other subplots too, but I enjoyed watching the political machinations in the Horde because there were real, tangible stakes and important power shifts. Catra learning that having power and authority is not all it’s cracked up to be was a crucial bit of character development. That bit of her getting the air sucked out of her lungs was more genuinely scary than the creepy ghost holograms by far. You felt her desperation trying to save face with Hordak and regain her sense of power and safety after that terrifying threat, and watching Shadow Weaver tune in to and play with her insecurities was a good bit of development for and insight into their relationship. It also foreshadows how easily Shadow Weaver is able to manipulate Catra later in the season.
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, Entrapta’s excursions and work with Hordak supplied some comic relief (which I think the A plot also tried and failed to do) and also made the Horde plot take an interesting turn. This is the episode where Catra really starts to lose power, and meanwhile Entrapta gains a lot without even meaning to. She just wanted to fix the problem with Hordak’s experiment, dear girl. On that note, I did not expect to enjoy watching Hordak and Entrapta so much, but one thing this show does really well is throw together unexpected combinations of characters and make an amazing dynamic (e.g. the Superpal Trio, Scorpia and Seahawk, Catra and Glimmer and Bow).
The Entrapta subplot was the most interesting of the episode and unfortunately it was relegated to the C plot. This episode would have been way better if they’d put more focus on the Horde side of things and/or given the “Best Friend Quad” something with more substance.
6. 2x01 “The Frozen Forest”
This episode was fine, but it didn’t do much to stand out. It was important, of course, to follow up on the end of season 1, and if they had skipped this episode entirely it would have left a huge gap. But with the two main groups of characters not interacting at all in person, there was little reason to be emotionally invested in the fight scenes. We don’t really care if Horde bots get destroyed. It would have been more interesting to see the Superpal Trio directly fighting the Princess Alliance, but on the other hand it did set up just how big a role Entrapta’s tech knowledge was going to play this season. The stuff with the princess alliance was cute, I always enjoy seeing more of Mermista, and they did some character work (which I can always appreciate) with Glimmer and Frosta. But since we only see the princesses once more this season, it hasn’t had much of a chance to pay off yet.
Tumblr media
The highlight of this episode was Adora fighting Catra in the simulation and her ensuing conversation with Light Hope. (“There. There.” and “I also have buttons” were two of my favorite one-liners of the season.) The simulated fight was very cute, and I definitely screamed when Catra grabbed Adora’s hand while delivering her customary “Hey Adora,” right before taking her down. And look, the fact that Catra was flirting so hard with Adora in that simulation means that an AI with very poor social awareness has picked up on their sexual/romantic tension, and that’s hilarious.
The Horde side of things gave us more time with the Superpal Trio, who are always delightful, but not a ton happened over there either. This episode established that Entrapta has fully moved in to the Fright Zone and Catra is comfortably leading the Horde’s advances and has respect from Hordak and the Horde’s soldiers. It also foreshadows how impressed Hordak is going to become with Entrapta’s work (and unimpressed with Catra’s) when her EKS bots steal the show in that meeting. Finally, the episode introduced the shifted dynamic between Catra and Shadow Weaver now that the power position has flipped. That ongoing subplot was possibly the saddest part of the season, and this one scene did a good job of setting that up.
Overall, this was a good and necessary setup episode, but because it had all that exposition and setup to do we didn’t get a ton of good character/relationship moments (Frosta/Glimmer and Catra/Shadow Weaver being the notable exceptions). So yeah, it was fine. But there were definitely stronger episodes, which we will now get into...
5. 2x04 “Roll With It”
This was a very cute episode, a fun one to watch. The reason I ranked it fifth is because there are three very strong episodes this season and 2x07 had higher stakes, being the season (mid-season, lbr) finale. On the Horde side of things, I loved seeing more of Lonnie, Kyle, and Rogelio. Lonnie really shined this episode and I keep waiting for someone to realize how smart and capable she is and promote her. And of course, Scorpia. Darling oblivious Scorpia who just wants to impress her crush. She’s not very smart but she’s earnest af and can pack a punch, and this is the first episode where she really stands out.
The planning session in the rebellion camp was really fun to watch, though I’m sure I missed a ton of jokes because I’ve never played D&D. The chaotic way the princesses all play off each other was more evident here than in 2x01, which made for some great gags. The different approaches they each take and the different aninmation styles used to portray them were a lot of fun. Glimmer’s noir hero fantasies were my favorite, personally. (And apparently she sees Catra as a very sexy villain? I need more on this, please.)
Tumblr media
Adora’s monologue about the worst possible secenario revealed all her insecurities, and it was one of the highlights of the season. Her anxiety issues and messiah complex have been touched on before many times, but this is the first time they’ve really come bubbling to the surface this season. It was really nice to see the whole group reassure her that she isn’t in this alone, much like Bow and Glimmer did before the Battle of Bright Moon. And while it’s been hinted at before, this episode really solidified her obsession with Catra. And Scorpia’s too, as I mentioned above.
It’s easy to forget that Catra wasn’t actually in this episode (AJ Michalka was, but her character was not, not for real) because you felt her presence everywhere. The bit with all the princesses’ different renditions of her was hilarious. But you know, it was nice to see the show put together such a strong episode without Catra. Having the emotional focus on Adora again was a nice change of pace.
4. 2x07 “Reunion”
This episode gave us what 2x03 lacked: it made the Best Friend Squad interesting again. That group is most compelling to watch when there’s conflict among them, like in the stretches of 1x01-1x02 and 1x08-1x10. They weren’t in an actual fight this time, but Glimmer and Adora being so thrown by Bow’s secret family life meant that things didn’t feel “as usual.” Glimmer’s insecurity about not meaning that much to Bow resurfaced, and Bow’s “coming out” scene was extremely moving. But thankfully there was comic relief, too. Adora mispronouncing words to try and sound scholarly was a great ongoing gag, and the eventual fight between the Best Friend Squad and the elemental was really fun because it was so chaotic with Bow’s dads being extremely confused.
Tumblr media
Okay and look, Bow’s dads. Finally we get to see why Bow is the most well-adjusted person in the group. His parents aren’t perfect, but they did way less to fill their kids with insecurities than Angella or Shadow Weaver. Angella’s not a bad mom but it’s easy to see why Glimmer feels so inadequate. And Shadow Weaver is, well, Shadow Weaver.
This episode was sort of oddly structured for what is essentially a mid-season finale in the sense that the A plot was about relationships more than the overarching plot, but that’s not necessarily bad. And they tied the plot back in at the end with the reveal about the Crimson Waste, setting us up to finally move forward in this transmissions subplot in season 3.
Tumblr media
There wasn’t a lot of time for Horde stuff this episode, but Scorpia forcibly loving Catra and turning her into a burrito was one of my favorite scenes of the season (maybe I will do a Top 10 later on). Catra opening up to Scorpia about her problems for the second episode in a row was huge, especially after experiencing a heart-shattering betrayal in the previous episode. Catra’s final scene where she gets exposed as a liar and choked out felt a bit truncated to me... like after they set that up as this terrifying threat in 2x03, they lingered a lot less in the terror of that moment in this episode. So that was kind of disappointing, but it still worked well as half of the cliffhanger (the weaker half, imo, but it was still extremely nerve-wracking).
It was hard to pick between #4 and 5 on this list, but ultimately the amazing cliffhanger was what put this one over the top. Both our protagonists are in danger, at the mercy of our two worst villains, and even though I knew what was coming as soon as I saw Adora sleeping, the shot of Shadow Weaver standing over her bed made me scream. I hate this show for leaving me hanging here, so they did it right.
3. 2x02 “Ties That Bind”
Ranking this one so high may be an unpopular opinion, but I personally loved this episode. I didn’t care much for the B plot except it was good insight into Adora, but the A plot was so delightful it made up for it. Mixing members of the Superpal Trio and Best Friend Squad almost always results in something good... maybe not for the characters, but for the audience. Watching Catra and Glimmer play off each other’s insecurites was great, and it was sweet watching Bow attempting to befriend Catra, just like he did with Adora. The conflict between him and Glimmer about how to treat their hostage felt very in-character, a good callback to the beginning of season 1.
Of course, Catra is a much more annoying hostage than Adora was. Her being a little shit and doing everything she could to get on their nerves was amazing, and I would have gladly watched a full hour episode just of that. The sassiness and manipulation we see from her in this episode balances nicely with the deep emotional stuff she goes through this season in her fight to win approval and prove her worth. It also produced my favorite joke of the season: “How are you such a nightmare?!?”/”Eh, years of practice.” I felt that in my soul as a youngest child. I also loved all the cat mannerisms they incorporated in this episode, it was very cute.
Tumblr media
There is a bit of emotional meat to that story, with Catra and Glimmer’s confrontation at the end after Glimmer says Adora ran away from Catra, not the Horde (rude, btw). But the real emotional moment comes when Bow and Glimmer find out Entrapta stayed willingly with the Horde. That was heart-breaking. Heart-shattering, even. Especially because Bow and Glimmer feel such guilt for her being left there in the first place. I wish there had been more follow-up on this major emotional beat, but that’s not a weakness of this episode itself. This was my favorite Entrapta scene of the season, even though there were a lot of other great ones.
Like I said, the B plot was... okay, but not amazing? The bits with Light Hope glitching were funny, if a bit creepy. (But she’s always creepy, so.) Swift Wind annoys the hell out of me when he’s being hyper, but seeing his eventual heart-to-heart with Adora gave him some good depth and development. Plus, this episode does a really good job of illustrating not only how uptight Adora is, but why. There’s that messiah complex again (which I don’t blame her for btw, that’s Shadow Weaver’s fault). I like episodes that focus on Adora emotionally, and separating her from Glimmer and Bow meant her storyline got to be a bit more serious and in-depth. I just wish it hadn’t been opposite Swift Wind... not because it wasn’t effective, but because Adora’s arc was good but I have little desire to rewatch it if it means I have to watch more of him. Sorry, I guess I’m an anti.
2. 2x05 “White Out”
As I’ve said before, this episode is the highlight of season 2. Once again, that has a lot to do with the dynamics that occur whenever we mix members of the Best Friend Squad and Superpal Trio, and this time we got all of them in one place! And they added Seahawk to the mix too, which I didn’t expect to like because he tends to get on my nerves, but pairing him with Scorpia was a move of pure brilliance.
Scorpia and Sea Hawk’s little heart-to-heart about feeling unappreciated and Drunk Adora validating and encouraging them was so so cute and heartwarming. All the Drunk Adora and Scorpia stuff was great, actually. It was funny but also made very textual how much Catradora is an insecurity for Scorpia and how she’s afraid she’ll never be able to live up to that and Catra will never open up to her the same way. And Adora actually seems to genuinely like Scorpia when she’s not focused on the evils of the Horde, so that’s good to know moving forward. And yeah, that pairing also brought us “Girls night in!” and the closet joke, another highlight of the season.
Tumblr media
In the other mixed grouping, Catra and Glimmer renewed their rivalry, and that’s always fun to watch. Entrapta continued to be her usual chaotic self, and any time we see her interacting with Bow it tends to be a great scene. The reveal at the end that she had the tech all along but didn’t tell Catra because she liked hanging out in this remote place with her friends was really, really cute.
I would be amiss to not mention the Catradora of it all in this episode, because holy shit this is actually the only time they interact in person all season. That is just wrong, by the way, but I did thoroughly enjoy what we got. It’s very clear they still have an emotional hold over each other despite their attempts to “let go,” between Adora’s overly-focused anger and Catra’s expressions whenever she hears or sees Adora. Adora actually kind of hates Catra right now and I think that caught Catra off guard. Catra’s panic when Evil She-Ra almost killed her was a great moment of vulnerability, how she tried to appeal to the Adora inside. She dropped the act for a moment and genuinely tried to connect with Adora, and maybe it made me tear up a little.
Along those same lines, the one thing that pissed me off about this episode was that we didn’t get to see Catra interacting with Drunk Adora. That would have allowed Adora to interact with Catra in a vulnerable state too, and in general it just would have been amazing. And the trailer kinda suggested we would get to see that, so that made it extra disappointing. Can’t these two just talk about their feelings and actually hear each other and communicate properly, please? Ugh. Still, despite these frustrations, I loved the Catradora content.
Tumblr media
But the real highlight of the episode was Scorptra. The scene where Scorpia tried to ask Catra out on a date was amazing and so freaking cute. Of course there’s also the stuff I mentioned where her insecurities about Adora came spilling out. And the look on Catra’s face when Scorpia aborted a mission to save her life and then whisked her away despite her protests... that was a huge moment. She doesn’t think of herself as worth saving, but someone else does. And despite the fact that Scorpia disobeyed direct orders, I think this is where Catra really comes to trust her. It’s certainly where she comes to respect her. And then they shared a blanket! God, this was so cute. I expected to enjoy the Catradora stuff more but a) there wasn’t all that much of it and b) this was so incredibly pure and sweet, watching Scorpia finally make some headway and Catra finally open up to someone again, even if it was only a little bit. I am a multi-shipper now, I can’t help it.
1. 2x06 “Light Spinner”
It was hard choosing between this and White Out for top spot, but I’m a slut for villain backstories. This episode was the less entertaining of the two, and I think I’d have to say White Out is my subjective favorite, but objectively I do think this is the better episode. Why? Character development.
Shadow Weaver was a bit too twirly-moustache of a villain at times in season 1, so seeing how she became what she is now did a lot for her character. Seeing how a desire to do good mixing with a thirst for power can drive someone to make mistakes and turn evil was very interesting, and having Micah be part of the backstory made it all the more compelling.
The ways Shadow Weaver tries to mold people with more intrinsic power than her so she can use that power was a crucial new insight, one we’ve never seen before. It explains why she’s so obessed with Adora, which was never really explained in season 1. And it also suggests that part of Shadow Weaver’s dislike for Catra came from Adora’s connection to and therefore influence over her. Shadow Weaver wanted Adora’s loyalty to be to her above all, even above the Horde, and Adora having a close friend (who’s a rebellious loose cannon, to boot) was a danger to that goal.
Tumblr media
This episode is essentially about Shadow Weaver and Catra, both separately and together, and it does a great job of drawing parallels between them even before Shadow Weaver outright tells Catra that they are the same. They both go off on a rant about how no matter what they do, no one listens to or respects them. Shadow Weaver seems to have a bit of a self-loathing streak that she took out on Catra, too... kinda like Glimmer being annoyed by all her worst qualities manifesting in Frosta.
As for Catra, it shocked me that she was so upset about Shadow Weaver being sent away to die. Though she obviously still craved Shadow Weaver’s approval, I didn’t expect her to react so badly to this. Clearly Scorpia didn’t either, and her trying to tease Catra’s reasons out of her was sweet. It was nice to see Catra continuing to open up to Scorpia after that moment with the blanket at the end of White Out, but there’s still a lot she’s holding inside. She still genuinely cares about Shadow Weaver despite how she’s been trying to hurt her for revenge and her own satisfaction... that sound familiar?
And unfortunately, Catra’s connection to Shadow Weaver and her need for maternal love and approval was her downfall. After she mocked the rebellion for their bleeding hearts and how easily manipulated they are, mind you. This is where Catra’s tendency to sympathize with Shadow Weaver (which we saw at least twice in season 1) finally came back to bite her in the ass. It was terribly sad because Catra actually has a big heart and Shadow Weaver knew that and took advantage of it.
Tumblr media
It’s hard to say how much Shadow Weaver meant of what she said to Catra when they had their big confrontation. It wasn’t clear whether or not she had seen her badge hidden in the food, whether she was only trying to manipulate Catra or if she was being earnest about any of it. Was the physical affection she gave her genuine, her way of making up for things and saying goodbye, or was she just fucking with Catra? I dunno, but either way this betrayal she pulled was awful, and if she was trying to be nice she would’ve been better off holding Catra at a distance than letting her get her hopes up. For real, Catra’s reaction when she realized Shadow Weaver had used and betrayed her was gut-wrenching, one of the rawest moments we’ve seen from her. I might have cried, a lot. She let herself be vulnerable in a way she rarely does, and for that she got absolutely obliterated emotionally. Again.
So yeah, this wasn’t a particularly fun episode, but it was a very strong episode of television and it did a lot to make Shadow Weaver more fleshed out and interesting. It finally brought one of the show’s most fraught relationships into the spotlight and let it combust in front of us, and as painful as it was to watch, I can’t help rewatching the Catra and Shadow Weaver scenes again and again. I never expected Catra to so openly ask Shadow Weaver why she was never good enough for her and what she did to deserve all the abuse. It was an incredibly rewarding scene to watch with great emotional payoff. And for a stan like me, that made it the best episode of the season.

Hewwo. You mentioned liking certain albums and songs for the jse egos and ships, what about for the Sander's sides? 👀 Are there any songs you like for certain ships you like? ❣️
HFJDHGJG YEPPP! Not quite as many, just bc I’m new to the fandom but I definitely have thoughts!
Before y’all who are annoyed with me ranting about Taylor jump ship:
-”Pioneer” by The Band Perry is SUCH a good Roman song omg just the softest song about the creative spirit & bravery
-”Lovefool” by the Cardigans is... Deceit’s karaoke song. I have no rationale or defense for this statement whatsoever it just came up on shuffle the other day and I for some reason could picture him singing it perfectly and now I can’t let it go. Roman’s karaoke song is probably like “Any Man of Mine” by Shania Twain. Idk what the other sides’ go-to karaoke songs are but PLEASE lmk what y’all think bc I wanna know
Anyway Taylor time. People w/ bad taste in music you’re free to go now. Have a nice night and please don’t unfollow me
Roman is both the side I think would most be a fan on Taylor and also who has the most Taylor songs that remind me of him.
“White Horse” is definitely a Roman song. Like just change the gender (from ‘princess’ to ‘prince’) and it fits perfectly - a “dreamer” who has the beautiful, romantic fantasies they believe in challenged and emerges stronger but still believing in all those wonderful things... catch me crying
“Starlight” is the other song that has strong Roman vibes to me again bc of the ‘dream impossible dreams’ thing & another ref to a prince (and a ‘duchess’ ((duke)) but it def feels more roman than remus to me). Could definitely be a prinxiety song given the second verse: He said, “look at you, worrying too much about things you can’t change. You’ll spend your whole life singing the blues if you keep thinking that way.” He was trying to skip rocks on the ocean, saying to me, “don’t you see the starlight? Don’t you dream impossible things?”
Honestly the whole Red album has Roman vibes to me which makes sense assuming his color is red for the same reason she chose that title: bc it symbolizes passion. It really specifically reminds me of him in the ‘Moving On’ videos - him having a hard time letting go of a relationship but ultimately realizing it must be done strongly reminded me of “Red” (the song), “I Almost Do,” and “All Too Well”
LOVES “Wonderland” bc it’s gay uhhh Disney references no but he’d be all over that ‘too in love to think straight’ pun.... and the sheer DRAMA of writing your ex’s fucking TUMBLR URL into a song
“Love Story” and “Today Was a Fairytale” need I say more
Virgil is definitely AT LEAST a Speak Now stan - some of you are too young to remember it and some of you are still too salty to acknowledge it but from like 2008-2011 especially there was the Emo Swiftie phenomenon where a bunch of us very edgy emo kids who liked Panic! & MCR were also Taylor fans. Like she wasn’t considered emo at all but she had the same lyricism & theatricality, and the rampant slutshaming didn’t really start until 2012 so it wasn’t nearly as uncool to like her. So yeah Virgil’s been a secret passenger on the Taylor train for a while
He’s SUPER unwilling to admit it at first but as soon as Roman figures it out they bond & talk about their fav songs
emo boy is most definitely a “Haunted” stan
All I WANT is Virgil in the famous purple Speak Now tour dress and if I had a shred of artistic talent him in that dress under the glowing tree would be the first thing I drew
“Out of the Woods” is a Virgil song - Taylor literally said that the main feeling she was trying to capture is anxiety (x). I would also like to see Virgil in the OOTW music video. Give my baby some WOLVES.
“The Archer” is very literally about anxiety & imposter syndrome I don’t think I need to defend that being a Virgil song
“Afterglow” and “Delicate” belong on any ship playlist involving Virgil
Someone sing “Innocent” to this boy immediately
My favorite Virgil song actually isn’t “The Archer” even though that’s the most obvious - I think “Daylight” is the best one. He’s wounded the good & he’s trusted the wicked y’all!!! But it’s brighter now!!!! I love him!!!!!
With Deceit I see the obvious comparison to “Look What You Made Me Do” and it works pretty well but I think the best Deceit song is def “I Did Something Bad” - ‘for every lie I tell them they tell me three’ ‘this is how the world works; you gotta leave before you get left.’ Also my position just in general is that IDSB is the Distinguished Gay Villain Song & LWYMMD is the Disaster Gay Villain Song.
That said, the only reason Deceit’s never done the traditional Rise Into Frame is to keep me specifically from making a joke about Karyn rising out of the stage during LWYMMD (x) - it’s true my cousin’s best friend’s uncle was an extra in the Sanders Sides he played Roman’s sword
Deceit’s real name is Karyn I cracked it y’all
Also it makes me really excited that the LWYMMD tour outfit is kinda similar to Deceit’s. Something about having the initials TS just makes you go ‘snake time’ and put on a black cape/shirt/jacket thing with yellow/gold accents I guess
“End Game” is a Remus/Deceit song - ‘you like the bad ones, too’ = they’re both dark sides, “you’ve been calling my bluff on all my usual tricks so here’s the truth from my red lips” = Deceit
“New Romantics” is just like ‘let’s lie our way through society’ so
Remus really reminds me of the swift fandom itself and idk what else to say about that bc if you’ve never been in that fandom I don’t know how to explain it to you and if you’ve been in that fandom for even 5 minutes you don’t need me to explain it to you
ME! is such a Remus song!! ‘I know that I’m a handful, baby, UH! I know I never think before I jump’ & ‘I would never bore you baby;’ also ‘like a rainbow with all of the colors’ reminds me of Remus saying ‘if you want the spectrum A-Z then you’ll need a little help from ME!” AND the song tends to get stuck in your head (or it does for me anyway) - kind of Remus’s M.O.
We already know he likes “Shake It Off” lol
Those of y’all who are horny for Remus and I know you’re out there.... “False God” is the song for you
could also be Remus/Deceit - Remus does use Deceit as the serpent in the Garden of Eden after all
Patton is just all the soft love songs lbr. “Stay Stay Stay,” “Paper Rings,” “Our Song,”etc. Also “Never Grow Up” and “Fifteen” and bc he’s nostalgic but also a father w/ good advice.
OK before I do Logan songs I just gotta tell you I was listening to “Tim McGraw” recently and my mind went “he said the way my blue eyes shined put those Georgia stars to shame that night; I said ‘FALSEHOOD’” but anyway
“New Year’s Day” - the references to books/pages fits and also the sort of comforting vibe that Logan can have; it’s a more realistic view of love about how there’s no way to know for sure what’s going to happen but knowing that you’re in it even for the worst
“I Think He Knows” belongs on the playlist for any ship involving Logan
He’d love “Miss Americana & the Heartbreak Prince” but when she’s like ‘where are the wise men?’ he’d be like ‘I’m right here beech’
And with that, I think I need to be done for now lol. Thank you so much for asking & letting me dump all this here. I love you!!!!

my most hated character: honestly probably christie, she was just really annoying
my OTP: piper/leo ofc
my NOTP: i don’t really have a notp in the classic sense but i disliked piper/dan and phoebe/coop the most. piper/dan was just unnecessary and phoebe/coop was astonishingly badly written, change my mind
favorite episode: im gonna go with the season 5 finale.... iconic
saddest death: prue, of corse
favorite season: probably season 3
least favorite season: season 8. i didn’t hate it or anything but it was just... underwhelming in many ways
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: no one?? i honestly don’t even hate a lot of characters to begin with, like pretty much just christie, dan, and that one annoying fbi lady from season 7
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: cole turner lmao. i may not like phoebe/cole but i did still like cole, what can i say
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: prue obviously :( also drake! he wasn’t a cinnamon roll but he honestly deserved better imo. the phoebe endgame we deserved tbh.
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: ehhh..... prue/cole. i honestly ship them so much idc.
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: i guess paige/henry. i do wish they were developed more but yeah, they were sweet. also prue/andy too.
desperate housewives
the first character i ever fell in love with: god i wish i remembered... it was either bree or gaby but it was so long ago i really don’t know
a character that i used to love/like, but now do not: hmm i guess orson? he was ok until he became a kleptomaniac and started blackmailing bree lmao
a ship that i used to love/like, but now do not: again i guess bree/orson. i never really cared that much but they were ok. i don’t have anyone else agfgfdgf
my ultimate favorite character™: bree with lynette a close second
prettiest character: i’m biased to say bree because i love redheads. but also gaby and katherine.
my most hated character: susan mayer, she can choke
my OTP: from canon ships lynette/tom were always my favorite but i also love bree/katherine as an au ship
my NOTP: susan/mike just because i fucking detest susan. bree/rex were also horrible tbh.
favorite episode: i really loved the tornado episode and the one with the supermarket shooting. idk honestly, binge watching it made all the episodes kind of blur together but these two came to mind.
saddest death: im probably gonna say edie but i thought mike’s was sad too
favorite season: im gonna say season 4 purely because that focused on katherine and i am such a huge katherine stan. she’s literally my favorite after bree and lynette.
least favorite season: eh season 7. idk nothing about that season’s storyline grabbed me. i did enjoy seeing paul back because i actually like his character but the whole storyline just didn’t work for me that much, and the housewives’ storylines were kinda meh too
character that everyone else in the fandom loves, but i hate: honestly i only hate susan and as far as i know many people dislike her too so?
my ‘you’re piece of trash, but you’re still a fave’ fave: edie? lbr everyone on this show is kinda problematic
my ‘beautiful cinnamon roll who deserves better than this’ fave: katherine mayfair
my ‘this ship is wrong, nasty, and makes me want to cleanse my soul, but i still love it’ ship: i don’t really have one
my ‘they’re kind of cute, and i lowkey ship them, but i’m not too invested’ ship: carlos/gaby
send me a fandom and i’ll tell you…

Ok bc I’m procrastinating for studying for the exam I have (tomorrow) and have thoughts:
I’ve been seeing a lot of really interesting discussion around the jonathan/jace bond in the books vs the jonathan/clary bond (namely a really interesting point from @grayacejace about clary’s agency) and despite my obvious bias it got me thinking. I feel like as a fandom we sometimes rag on CC making Clary an obvious self-insert, I think there’s something exceedingly genre-appropriate about it, and it’s a deliberate choice that works in a way where shadow hunters’ choice to treat Clary as the hero and determinant of her narrative also works in its own context.
What I often forget is that TSC are for kids, specifically, I would argue, young girls. When I was 14 and reading Harry Potter I wasn’t analyzing every frame for social meaning, I was imagining myself along for the ride with Harry and his friends and how amazing it would be to be part of their adventure. I’m not sure if this is a universal experience, but I’d be willing to wager it’s not uncommon. TMI is a liberalization of that child fantasy, as well as a reflection of fan fiction genre conventions of the time. CC didn’t write Clary as a badass feminist who takes charge of her own storyline and beats up men and constantly is bowed down by the weight of the world …you know.
She wrote Clary as a pair of eyes through which little girls could experience the wonder and excitement of being part of the fantasy narrative they’re so often excluded from. Clary fits the bill for every Mary Sue self-insert because she is one, and that’s intentional—and not necessarily something to make fun of. She’s the daughter of the main villain and has special powers and has this instant and intensely romantic connection with a boy pretty much tailor-made for 2003 pre-teen girls. Clary in the books is CC drawing on the conventions of literary tradition of fan fiction from that time—she is not as much the main character but the avatar through which young girls can experience being special and going on amazing adventures.
Which isn’t to say there’s no feminist or critical message and all fan fiction and self-insert fic is just stupid mental cotton candy. There’s a strong sense of wistfulness and struggle with femininity that I think is one of the most subtle but powerful parts of the books—Clary describing her femininity as “a housewarming gift she doesn’t know what to do with.” CC’s depiction and subversion of femininity is actually quite fascinating even in her missteps (the rivalry with Izzy, for example), though honestly lbr we probably were all like that at 16, for better or worse. Clary’s relationship with Jace is, I think, telling girls what they should hold out for in a partner, that they can deserve someone who makes them feel special. Jonathan is an inversion of Jace who is deceptively attractive but treats Clary like shit and is, lets be honest, sexist as fuck, among other things. He’s dressed as the fairytale ending she’s promised with Jace but is actually something toxic and evil. Dru’s storyline in TDA reads as intensely personal and emotional—a girl constantly excluded and sidelined, because of her age and her weight and her general introversion, but someone who is strong and capable and compelling—and the right people see that in her and honor her for it.
Which is a complete diversion from the point that got me here but simply put: COLS works because the message and intent and even the very narrative form fits it. I could cite a whole slew of scholarly work about about fan fiction, the female gaze, and the fan mediation of male homosociality through self-insert female characters (thanks cultural studies for making me say ‘homosociality’), but basically: it’s fitting with the fan fiction literary tradition CC is from and helped build that the female character is the avatar for the audience to observe what, okay maybe this is personal bias, is a pretty charged dynamic between Jonathan and Jace (morally or sexually, take ur pick). Clary mediates that bond and ultimately, because the books are about validating the reader (while again subverting certain expectations), Jonathan’s obsession turns to her and is ultimately revealed to be exactly what it is: toxic and evil, Jace’s association with him completely fake.
The show is operating on a different narrative paradigm, where Clary is the traditional “protagonist as hero” approach, complete with Clary’s own hero’s journey. As Dyl (@greyacejace) pointed out, in the books Clary’s storyline is often focused around others—she’s the avatar for the reader more than a character of her own. I hope I’ve convinced you that isn’t necessarily a bad or shallow thing, but the show definitely has aged up the narrative. Clary is an adult, with adult problems and challenges, and the show tackles them with varying levels of success. Now, in season 3, she is no longer the audience avatar in any way, not even for the sake of exposition—often she is telling other people expositional elements or discovering things along with us. She is not an observer but a character,  and as such the bond with Jonathan (along with pretty much every other plot element they can think of…not 100% a fan of all of that, if spoilers rumors are to be believed) has been shifted to her.
I’m not really sure “incestuous sexual obsession” is really the honor we want to be bestowing on our Strong Badass Female Characters(TM), but that’s the honor Clary gets. Personally given how the show has handled rape themes in the past I’m not exactly bursting with joy to see how they’ll tackle Clary being mind-controlled by her brother who wants to do….well, exactly that, but I guess that’s the brave new world we live in. I honestly didn’t intend to bitch THAT much about things but basically: the Clary of the books is a girl who’s biggest threat is that her father and later brother want to take her Hot Boyfriend away from her (and maybe kidnap her in hell but REALLY the big problem here is taking away her Hot Boyfriend, the rest is kind of hand-waved away). Clary of the show is an adult woman who has adult woman problems, like men who want to rape her and think of her as a particularly personable piece of furniture that will solve all his problems.
(He’s thinking of a therapist, but too dumb to know that).
Obviously there are a lot of gross simplifications here, especially of Jonathan’s character (in another universe I could and probably would write an angry meta screed slamming my own meta’s portrayal of my ‘’sweet baby boy’’ but ill leave that for another day. Was that a self-deprecating joke lamp-shading my own obnoxious stanning? Yes it was). Point is, I don’t think the two narratives are entirely comparable as they follow different narrative structures and paradigms and follow different goals with different results. Jace vs Jonathan is about how two boys react differently to abuse and nature vs nurture; Clary vs Jonathan is about the definition of heroism vs villainy and how good motives can be betrayed by bad actions and how that compares to bad motives and bad actions—whether the end can ever justify the means.
Anyway tldr leave me and my idiotic sebjace ass alone but this shit slaps too
