If I'm not careful I'm gonna end up writing an essay about why them killing off Desmond was one of the worst writing decisions they could've ever made and why it severed the link between the modern and ancient storylines--

When I saw "Navi desmond" my first thought was Desmond as a loz fairy "hey listen"-ing his ancestors
The "Desmond is reborn as a Navi in Avatar" idea that inspired this.
Ratonhnhaké:ton would like to think that he was a patient man. Sure, there were times when his emotion got the best of him and pushed him into reacting before he could fully think about the possible consequences of what he was about to do but…
He only raised his voice when his temper got the better of him but rarely happened.
He should have more control over his emotions.
He should…
“Hey, listen!”
He could be patient.
“Hey, listen!”
He usually remained calm.
“Hey, listen!”
He was-
“Hey, listen!”
“Desmond.” Ratonhnhaké:ton called out, turning to face the small glowing fuzzy ball with wings flying near his face.
“Yes, Ratonhnhaké:ton?” The glowing fairy asked in his usual cheerful voice.
Ratonhnhaké:ton stared at Desmond for a moment before he said as calmly as he could, without ending up gritting his teeth, “I know how to skin an animal, Desmond.”
The little glowing ball was quiet for a moment and Ratonhnhaké:ton wondered if he had embarrassed his strange companion.
“Of course you do, Ratonhnhaké:ton!” Desmond cheerfully said and any worry Ratonhnhaké:ton may have had on the possibility of insulting Desmond disappeared with a small sigh.
He crouched on his latest kill and took out his knife. As he was about to speak…
“Hey, listen!”
His grip on his knife tightened as he tried to keep calm.
A part of him wondered if Desmond was trying to annoy him on purpose.
.
.
He’s not.
The small glowing ball is actually an avatar of The Reader who is stuck in the Gray. He’s incapable of keeping a stable connection with his ancestors due to mysterious interference so he needed to keep connecting to the avatar regularly, otherwise the avatar would disappear and it would take him a few centuries to create a new one.
“Hey, listen” is the notification that The Reader is reconnecting, kinda like how a computer would keep pinging when one connects a faulty USB wire to show that it keeps disconnecting and connecting.

On the 17th of November, fourteen years ago, Assassin's Creed II was released in North America for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Tumblr media
The game's plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events and follows the millennia-old struggle between the Assassins, who fight to preserve peace and free will, and the Templars, who desire peace through control. The framing story is set in the 21st century and follows Desmond Miles as he relives the genetic memories of his ancestor, Ezio Auditore da Firenze, to uncover the mysteries left behind by an ancient race known as the First Civilization in the hope of ending the Assassin-Templar conflict. The main narrative takes place at the height of the Renaissance in Italy from 1476 to 1499, and follows Ezio's journey as an Assassin while seeking revenge against those responsible for the death of his father and brothers. Gameplay focuses on using Ezio's combat, stealth, and parkour abilities to defeat enemies and explore the environment. The game features a large open world comprising several Italian cities, including Florence, Venice, Monteriggioni, San Gimignano, and Forlì, all of which have been accurately recreated to fit the game's historical setting.
Using a newly updated Anvil game engine, Assassin's Creed II began development shortly after the release of Assassin's Creed.
Upon release, Assassin's Creed II received universal critical acclaim from video game publications, with praise for its narrative, characters, world design, and improvements over the first game. Considered one of the best video games ever made, it sold more than nine million copies within six months, and is frequently cited as the game that brought the Assassin's Creed series to mainstream popularity.

that protocreed au no one asked for: character synopses
(Which at this point I should just name in general but shhh y'all can wait on that.)
Anyway the brainrot is Real so I better info dump about our main characters lmao.
Desmond
On the streets, a faceless Assassin for the Templar Order. Usually sent out for the hard jobs that require precision, but also sometimes sent out to threaten and intimidate. Whatever his mission is, he gets it done discreetly and swiftly. Behind the walls of Abstergo, he is the prize pet of Dr. Warren Vidic, and the poster boy for the Animus Project. At the tender age of 15, a young Desmond was taken from his family and brought to New York, where he was subject to horrific scientific testing and mind bending torture. He spent the first year of his captivity going through the memories of his ancestor from 11th century Syria (Altair), and inherited the skills of an assassin through the Bleeding Effect. Vidic and Abstergo’s scientists have since molded him into their compliant lapdog, having broken his spirit and will ten times over. And inside his mind, he is Desmond, who is nothing and everything all at once. By the time he reaches his late 20s, self-loathing consumes him. The idea of death isn’t comforting, as he knows his body and his DNA will continue to be used long after he’s gone. So until then, he figures he can rebel just a little by having some say in what happens to him. The “say” is very, very small and usually disregarded, but it’s all he has so he takes it.
Alex
First appears to Desmond as a curious bystander and investigative journalist. A quirky man who’s hard to read, and almost unpredictable in what he will say or do. Seems to be both naive and also worryingly intelligent. Can be likened to being Watson to Desmond’s Sherlock Holmes. Gradually builds a bond between him and Desmond, slowly piecing together a past life that Desmond can ultimately relate to. Soon enough, he becomes Desmond’s confidant and close friend. The more he learns about Desmond and what goes on behind Abstergo’s walls, the more intense their relationship develops. Makes it clear, after a short while, that he may have some deeper feelings for Desmond, but is awkward and hesitant to act on them.
Mercer
The “killer” that Desmond searches for. Goes unseen for the first few murders, but his “Call sign” is the result of his gruesome slaughter; all his kills carry deliberately clean, almost impossible to make incisions and cuts, as if each body was surgically dissected. The manner in which he achieves this is Desmond's biggest mystery to solve, as even he can’t replicate the exact same results on his own. Desmond first becomes aware of Mercer when he notices him hanging around at the crime scene, almost as if he was waiting for Desmond to appear there. When Desmond gives chase, Mercer slips away impossibly fast, in ways that would make any seasoned assassin jealous. Worse, he has taken to copying Desmond’s assassin uniform, just with some minor adjustments of his own. It’s only when Desmond wisens up and plots to bait Mercer to him does the truth start unraveling…
(still no release date planned, still havent even written anything concrete for it yet lmao im still outlining and workshopping it but!! hopefully this suffices for now haha)

I had a very sudden thought of Desmond running from Ezio and Altaïr (they’re chasing him for answers. You know, the usual time teleporting shit) and he manages to make it to the top of a tower that doesn’t have a jump point on it.
Ezio and Altaïr seem victorious with the end of the chase so near, both of them smirking as they look at the strange hooded figure in front of them.
Desmond sighs softly to himself. He really didn’t want to have to do this but he guesses he’ll have to if he wants to get out of this. He watches as his ancestors draw nearer, both of them moving slowly as they watch for any sudden movements.
Desmond allows them to get a meter away before he smirks at them, spreading his arms out and falling right off the edge of the tower.
Both mentors feel their hearts jump to their throats, rushing over to the edge to watch as the mystery man falls to the floor below. Right as looks as if he’s about to hit the floor something unfurls from his back, catching the wind and letting him swoop up and away from the ground.
Desmond can’t help the giddy laughter that escapes him when he feels the wind rushing through his feathers and hair, breathless with the rush of adrenaline that courses through him as he comes back up to hover in front of his ancestors. The looks on their faces are well worth the chase they made him go through.
The wings are brown with golden flecked tips, reminiscent of an eagle as they flare and flap behind the stranger to keep him steady. Surprisingly the hood had stayed put - the rest of cloak flaring out around him as his wings kick up the wind - only allowing them to see the way the man gives them a pleased smirk and nod of the head before he takes off. If it wasn’t so mesmerising and slightly impressive the two mentor’s would have felt miffed with the obvious snub.

Can you share the lore of your cursed ancestor? Has there been anything historically or recently that happened that have curse vibes or have been attributed to the curse? I’d love to hear more about this!
So my dad’s mother’s family is not only old, but well documented. Through her side, I’m a descendant of the Fitzgeralds. Oh boy are there are weird legends surrounding them, and it’s hard to get some of the specifics on the legends in the US. I know the Welsh side has some legends too, but I’m not even gonna try with that due to how convoluted that section of the family tree is.
Please keep in mind, I don’t know if my branch of the family (which no longer carries that last name) did something in the US that worsened whatever bad juju was accumulated or we just somehow concentrated it.
With that out of the way, buckle in, this is gonna be a longish post
Firstly we have John Fitzgerald (1st Baron of Desmond). He was called “the ape” because his grandson was “rescued by such a creature.” I’m as stumped as anyone else on that.
Gerald FitzMaurice Fitzgerald (Gearóid Iarla) the 3rd Earl of Desmond mysteriously disappeared around the shores of Lough Gur, a lake with its own legends. In tales, Gerald had a romantic relationship with the Goddess Aine, who is sometimes called the mother of the Fey. Legends vary on how consensual it was.
In the legends where it was a more loving relationship, Aine has him sleeping under or near the lake where he’ll rise again to assist Ireland regain glory. In legends where their relationship wasn’t great, she cursed him to wander the shores of the lake as a ghostly horseman every 7 years. I should also mention one legend has him transformed into a goose and disappear in the river Maine. But there’s also a legend he and his warriors are in a suspended state near an old fort called Hacklim.
Now, this one is unclear. It could be in relation to the 3rd Earl of Desmond or a later Earl in the same family with the same name. He was rumored to be a magic practitioner. The legend goes his wife wished to know an arcane secret. Gerald, who deeply loved her agreed on the condition she didn’t make a noise during the rituals needed. She did eventually cry out which sunk the castle into the waters of Lough Gur. He is said to have become a vampiric revenant and occasionally abducts young women to drain their life.
(The Fitzgeralds were originally invaders to Ireland, coming over with Strongbow. They were not well-liked during their early history)
While I can’t find much information about it, Clíodna, who is stated to be the queen of the banshees, was reported to have affairs with various members of the Fitzgeralds, most likely due to her association with the lands of Desmond.
Now there is a legend of a man who’s name translates from Gaelic as John fitz-James Fitzgerald (this could be the 13th Earl of Desmond or someone unrelated), who dropped dead on his wedding day - the rumor was he was spirited away by the Fey, specifically Clíodna. The daughter of a local wise woman was able to bring him back after a poetry contest and talk about a dowry.
(As a fun side note, she is involved in the legend of the Blarney Stone - which I have kissed)
So, basically, family screwed around with a very powerful entity. The Fey are associated with death in some legends (Lough Gur is sometimes said to be an entrance to the underworld).
Weird crap just happens to us. It’s to the point where I know to expect weird if I’m traveling anywhere outside the US. Evacuations, injuries, accidentally making people fall in love with you, etc. weird crap.
It’s become a joke that you don’t officially belong to the family until you have your first near death experience (my official count for those is currently 7). Most of my cousins, aunts, uncles, of course my dad, and grandmother have all had them. Friends joke that death is flirting with us, but due to the associations between the Fey and death, it might be them trying to reclaim us instead.
It’s not normal things either. Example, my dad should have died in a car accident at 16, but he got out of it with a pinched nerve and some cuts. I’ve seen a photo of the truck he was in after he got rescued - the cabin was flattened. Another example, when I dealt with anaphylactic shock, the reason I was hospitalized as long as I was was due to my immune system rebooting itself like a computer. I still don’t know how it did that.
We don’t particularly like drama but we attract it. Oh boy do we attract it. I don’t want to get into that.
The family is weird about lying. Like, my dad has a physical response if he lies. It’s the weirdest thing. I don’t care to lie either, but I don’t have a breakdown over it. Dad will.
Nothing about us makes sense

Episode 46 Review: 2 Theories About Jean Paul, Erica, and the Locket
Tumblr media
{ YouTube: 1 | 2 | 3 }
{ Full Synopses/Recaps: Debby Graham | Bryan Gruszka }
In this great house on Maljardin, evil lives, even amongst the dead, and the poison this evil spreads threatens Erica Desmond, who lies frozen in this cryocapsule until the day a scientific miracle returns her to the living and back into the arms of her husband Jean Paul Desmond, who has defied powers real and imagined to assure his wife’s return from beyond the veiled curtain of death. Strange happenings are forcing a decision that could doom Erica Desmond...forever.
Hello and welcome back to my Garden of Evil, where today we will examine Jean Paul’s reaction to Dr. Alison Carr’s new discovery about her sister’s bloodied locket and two possible explanations of what it may say about Erica’s death and Jean Paul’s state of mind. I could do an entire recap of this episode if I wanted to, but I'd rather narrow the focus of this entry to the theories that have been floating around my head for a while (one since before I started this blog, in fact).
A brief summary of the important stuff that happens in this episode: Alison learns that the blood on the locket is human blood, type AB-, which leads her to conclude that it must be Erica’s, because both she and Erica have that rare blood type[1]. She also tests the poison found in the glass of wine that Holly drank from two episodes ago and finds that it’s not the missing cyanide, but an unknown poison of vegetable origin. Elizabeth defends herself to Matt, telling him that she has no motive to kill Holly, not even her inheritance--and, surprisingly, he believes her. And then Raxl and Quito steal the rabbit from Jean Paul’s room and stumble upon that wonderfully sinister skull, which will co-star with Jacques in Episode 47.
Tumblr media
Jean Paul receives irrefutable proof that the locket found around the rabbit’s neck belonged to Erica.
Outside of those plot points, this episode focuses primarily on Jean Paul’s confusion over how a bloodied locket even ended up in the cryonics capsule with his beloved Erica to begin with. When Alison shows Jean Paul the blood sample under the microscope, he's skeptical at first and tries to convince her that she either bled on it or someone else somehow put her blood there to confuse him. I would say it boggles my mind how someone with an IQ of 187 like Jean Paul can conceive such a ridiculous theory, but, honestly, it doesn’t. The popularity of conspiracy theories and other misinformation in our time has convinced me that human beings of any intelligence level can trick themselves into believing anything, no matter how patently absurd, if they want to believe it enough.
Tumblr media
Subtle Dark Shadows reference?
I can’t tell how much of the next part where Jean Paul continues speculating about the locket is actually in the script and how much is just a particularly bad line flub. Listening to his dialogue, it sounds like a combination of both, but it’s hard to tell given that the character is supposed to be very confused already. Here’s an exact transcription of what he says:
Tumblr media
Jean Paul: "Well, maybe I-I-I put the necklace on her neck without realizing it. I perhaps didn't put it on her when I put it in the capsule. It could have happened that way very easily. You see, I had thought I had. You didn't see me do it, did you, Raxl?" Raxl: "No." Jean Paul: "Quito, did you?" Quito: *shakes head* Jean Paul: "Well, there you are. You see? She could have cut her finger a while before she died, and so the blood got on the locket, and maybe I put the locket in the, uh, dresser drawer, and it was left there, and in my grief I didn't know what I was doing and I gave her another piece of jewelry which I put around her neck. Don't you think that probably is what has happened?"
Vangie isn’t convinced of any of these theories, and neither is Raxl. The latter believes that the locket appeared because of evil, “slimy like a snake, ugly like a black rabbit.” (WTF? The rabbit is adorable!) Jean Paul accuses Vangie of suspecting him, but she insists she doesn’t. Of course, he doesn’t believe her and he takes out his anger by breaking Alison’s microscope in half, throwing it to the ground, and accusing Erica of mocking him.
In the next scene, he ruminates in his room over the likelihood that he killed Erica, intentionally or otherwise:
Could I have killed my Erica? Could I have slain my love? That's impossible! Oh, you would like it, Jacques Eloi des Mondes, my bloody murdering ancestor. If it was so, how you would rejoice! But then, if I didn't put the locket in the cryocapsule with Erica as I thought, what other things that I believe as facts--things which are part of my life and experience--may be no more than creeping, malicious, lying fancies? Perhaps I didn't love my Erica at all. Perhaps I hated her!
Tumblr media
Jean Paul pondering whether he truly loved Erica.
Tumblr media
Getting dramatic!
Later, while lying on his bed in shirtsleeves, he realizes that he genuinely loved her, but that his memory is still faulty:
Tumblr media
Jean Paul: "I loved her. I remember how I loved her. There was no world but the world outside, and then there was another world and that was us. Oh, how I loved her, so good, so beautiful, but what happened at the end? I can't…was the necklace with Erica when she was sealed in the capsule? I can't remember."
But later on when he visits the Great Hall (inadvertently giving Raxl and Quito the opportunity to retrieve the Rabbit of Evil), Jacques torments him by implying that Jean Paul, like him, is a murderer. “Think there’s a chance you may have murdered your sweet Erica?” he asks. “That blood was very interesting, wasn’t it?”
Tumblr media
Jacques hinting again that they’re the same man, or just that the apple doesn’t fall far from the proverbial tree? Or perhaps this is like that one line from Game of Thrones: “You can’t kill me, I’m a part of you now.”
Then we get this exchange which acts as a segue into the next scene:
Tumblr media
Jacques: "So maybe you killed your little love before you put her in that tin coffin, hm? Maybe there is no pristine, pure body to revive. That's what's been on your mind all day, isn't it?"   Jean Paul: "Even if it has been, I certainly wouldn't tell you."   Jacques: "You can have no secrets from me, anyhow. You know, if you ever are thinking of murdering again…" Jean Paul: "I did not kill her!" Jacques: "All right!" *laughs* "But whether you did or not, you might want to kill someone else one of these days." Jean Paul:  "Good night." Jacques: "All right, run away, but you might find an example of my skill nearer than you know and sooner than you think."
After he storms out of the Great Hall, Raxl and Quito return, the latter carrying the rabbit. Before they can sacrifice the rabbit in an effort to rid the house of its evil, it jumps from Quito’s arms. While trying to catch it, he bumps his head into a painting of mysterious ancestor Étienne des Mondes and knocks it off the wall, revealing a hidden cupboard with a skull swinging from a rope through its jaws.
We’ll discuss this skull in the review for next episode, where it becomes the focus. For the rest of this review, however, let us turn our attention to two possible interpretations of the Jean Paul and Jacques scenes in this episode. My theories are as follows:
Theory #1: Jean Paul killed Erica and is living in denial
Jean Paul’s reaction to learning that his deceased wife’s blood is on the locket and especially Jacques’ comments about it seem to imply that Dan Forrest’s theory about murder may not be a red herring after all as Ian Martin would have had us believe. Remember that, although Jacques is evil and Martin’s episodes portrayed him as the Father of Lies, he and Jean Paul may or may not be the same man. That could mean anything from Jean Paul having a split personality to Jacques having transported himself forward in time to live as Jean Paul Desmond before the events of Episode 1, but I’ll save those ideas for another essay. The point is that Jacques seems to know Jean Paul as well as he knows himself, and as such knows things about him that the other characters don’t.
It’s possible even that Jacques has observed and interacted with Jean Paul since long before Jean Paul freed him by removing the silver pin from the conjure doll’s temple. Think back to Jacques’ introductory scene in the pilot, where he responds to Jean Paul’s proclamation of “on this island, from this moment forward, I am God” with “bravo.” He could speak through the portrait and even give characters visions before Jean Paul freed him! Also think of all the things he’s referenced that a man from the 17th century wouldn’t be aware of: merry-go-rounds, bus time tables, the figurative expression “jack up by the bootstraps,” and whatnot. Assuming Jacques is a spirit like he claims, he’s been observing and learning things on Maljardin for a very long time! Sure, he looked confused about that fountain pen in Episode 4, but perhaps that was only because he hadn’t had a chance to practice using one before Jean Paul set him free. If Jean Paul killed Erica, Jacques would know about it and may even have encouraged it by communicating with him through the portrait. There’s no indication that the scene in the pilot is the first time he made contact with his descendant. It could be the second time, the fifth, the tenth, the thousandth, or more.
Also note that the exact cause of Erica’s death is never made clear. Jean Paul claims in Episode 5 that she died of eclampsia, but the Lost Episode summary for Episode 47 from the CBC program log indicates that Dr. Menkin’s missing notes would have eventually revealed her to have “died attempting to gain eternal youth.” The latter could have meant anything from plastic surgery complications to swallowing gold à la Diane de Poitiers. It’s not even clear if the attempt at eternal youth is truly the cause of her death, just what she was doing when she died. This leaves the possibility of homicide open.
But did Jean Paul (or Dr. Menkin) intentionally kill her, or could it have been an unpremeditated, spur-of-the-moment decision? I believe the latter is more likely. Jean Paul seems genuinely confused by her death, and even by whether he loved or hated her. It’s possible he already wasn’t in his right mind before her death and may even have blacked out during it (although probably not because of possession, as he had not yet freed Jacques). Perhaps the artificial intelligence hinted at by the reference to W. Grey Walter’s “Imitation of Life” factored into this: for example, the implant inside Erica’s brain may have malfunctioned, causing her to become violent and attack Jean Paul and/or Dr. Menkin.
SPOILER WARNING FOR THE PIT AND THE PENDULUM (1961)
Another thing to consider: Strange Paradise shares many plot points in common with the Roger Corman/Vincent Price movie The Pit and the Pendulum. In the film, we have (1) a husband whose wife recently died under mysterious circumstances, (2) whom he comes to suspect he accidentally murdered. (3) His doctor is living at the castle with him, when (4) a sibling of his deceased wife comes to investigate her death. Among the ghostly happenings in the house, (5) a portrait of the wife is slashed. Finally, (6) the husband goes mad and (7) is possessed by an evil lookalike ancestor, in this case his father. While I don’t think that we can accurately predict planned revelations in Strange Paradise using the events of a film written by someone unaffiliated with the show’s production, it is interesting to note that Vincent Price’s character accidentally buried his wife alive. This connects to the events of Episode 44, where Erica’s spirit possesses Holly and tells them to “let [her] out,” although in Erica’s case it’s more likely that she’s just been resurrected from death instead of being buried alive.
END SPOILERS
Theory #2: Jean Paul is imagining things
Another possibility is that he didn't kill Erica and is using the new (apparent) evidence to construct a false memory of killing her. Although most of us like to think of memory as infallible, numerous studies have proven that it's anything but. This can occur on a collective level, such as the famous Mandela effect where, prior to Nelson Mandela's actual death in 2013, many people misremembered him as having died in the 1980s. More often, however, individual people remember false versions of events from their own lives.
In the late 20th century, numerous psychological studies identified the way that even changing small details of a story--changing a stop sign to a yield sign, for example, or adding the detail of broken glass to the story of an accident--could alter a subject's memory of it, creating a "misinformation effect." During one such study, researchers used a fake advertisement showing Bugs Bunny in front of the Sleeping Beauty Castle at Disneyland to trick their subjects into believing that they could meet Bugs at the park (despite Bugs being a Warner Brothers character and Warner Brothers being affiliated instead with Six Flags). For 16 percent of the subjects, it worked, and they described further false memories of meeting Bugs at Disney, adding details like that they touched the ear of his costume[2].
Speaking of false memories of amusement parks, I swore for years that I remembered visiting a dinosaur theme park in the northern Ohio woods back in 1998 or 1999, when I was five or six. I never questioned whether the memory was real until one day when my family drove past a drive-through dinosaur exhibit and my dad said to my mom, "They didn't have anything like that when Michelle was a kid." Skeptical of his claim, I did some Googling and discovered that there was a dinosaur-themed park in the woods near Sandusky called the Prehistoric Forest that looked much like what I thought I remembered[3]. When I sent my parents the link to the article about the Prehistoric Forest, both of them denied ever taking me there or even having heard of the place. Nevertheless, I swear I've been there or somewhere very similar. I think the most likely explanation is that I dreamt about it, but that the memory of the dream was so vivid that I mistook it as one from my waking life.
Much as a researcher can convince their subjects to believe that Bugs Bunny appeared at Disney or I convinced myself that I had visited a place like the Prehistoric Forest, Jean Paul is capable of brainwashing himself into thinking that he murdered Erica. This isn't even the only time he speculates without clear evidence that he’s guilty of murder. We'll see something similar in Episode 137 regarding the murder of a different character, whom Jean Paul will successfully convince himself he killed despite hazy evidence at best.
Note that these two theories are not one hundred percent mutually exclusive. It’s entirely possible that Jean Paul killed Erica, but misremembered specific details about her death or how he felt about her. Also note that this show contains quite a few retcons, one of which we saw last episode. Just as the trajectory of this show has changed significantly from Ian Martin’s original plot, the truth about Erica Desmond’s fate is currently in flux within the show’s universe.

[1] While rabbits can have type AB blood (or type ZY blood, using the system from this 1954 study) and they cannot tolerate injections of Rh-positive blood, they have different antibodies in their blood from those of humans.
[2] Elizabeth F. Loftus, "Memories of Things Unseen," in Current Directions in Psychological Science 13:4 (2004), pp. 145-146. There are other examples from other studies, including one involving false memories of witnessing a demonic possession, but the Bugs one is my personal favorite. Also, this period of Strange Paradise puts me in a rabbity mood.
[3] Coincidentally, the Prehistoric Forest's entrance appeared in the 1995 film Tommy Boy, which also featured Colin Fox and Pat Moffat (Irene Hatter) in supporting roles. There was also an animatronic dinosaur attraction at Sea World Ohio called Carnivore Park that operated in the late 1990s. Despite having visited that Sea World many times as a kid, I couldn’t have gone to that exhibit because we couldn’t afford to go there in 1998 or 1999.

Hello, Lady Connor! I want to ask out of unbearable, suffocating curiosity in my heart, even though in the previous post you already said to not mention "that certain comic". Could you please enlighten me about your view on that comic and what you despise about it? I would love to read your detailed thoughts about it even if just once. But if this is too triggering for you, I'm truly sorry for your discomfort and you don't need to answer it.
Hello, dear Anon and welcome ^-^ It's weird you naturally called me Lady Connor, as usually only my little fairy @giuliettaluce does. Well, I guess her magic put a spell on everybody here!!
If you really care to know, I'll answer, but brace yourself, it's going to be very long, almost an essay, because I can be very detailed about that comic being a failure in its every part. There's so much to say. You're right, as I mentioned before, it can trigger me, but I have attentively analized it and I know it makes not a single atom of sense. So nothing can actually bother me that much, don't worry ^_-
First of all, my general consideration of the AC Reflections comic issue #4, (yeah, that thing -.-) is that of a mere attempt to desperately make Bayek's remote vision through Senu's eyes a canon feature. It was created and published in 2017, the same year AC Origins was released and yes, they needed an excuse to make believe Connor's alleged daughter inherited a skill someone (who isn't even their direct ancestor!!) that lived 1700 years ago in ancient Egypt had! OMG, this should be funny enough, but I'll go on. Also, I think it was likely a carelessly arranged way to satisfy those AC3 fans demanding a "happy ending" for unlucky Connor (quite 5 years later, of course).
I'll better go step by step to figure out where to start from, seriously.
1) In the comic, when Otso Berg opens the file related to Connor, the scene is set in "1796: Upstate New York." Now this is chronologically and spacially incoherent and illogical. We see Connor still wears his assassin outfit in it, right? According to AC Initiates (2012) in 1804 Connor invites the Dominican assassin Eseosa at the Davenport homestead to provide him some advices and further training as he's involved in the leading of the Haitian Revolution. That's a really cool character, read about him, if you want!
Tumblr media
So, until then Connor is still an assassin, probably the mentor (by now) of the Colonial Brotherhood. He still runs the homestead and he still commands the Aquila, I guess, he's the captain still. I calculated the distance between the homestead and the then upper NY frontier territories is approximately 260 miles (quite far nowadays with cars and planes as well). Then, why the hell should he have a family located in the forest upstate NY? It sounds very unconfortable to run back and forth to reach them and go back to take care of all the Brotherhood matters, doesn't it? Unless he knew about teleportation!!! Also, wow, he lives all alone in a nice massive villa with all the comforts of that time while his children and wife still live in a Native village constantly menaced by settlers wanting to steal their land? Beside the fact that Connor, at least in my point of view, seemed at last very familiar with european way of living by the end of the game, this leads us to the next point.
2) By the time the game and the comic are set (second half of 18th century), most of the East Coast Native tribes were facing the tragic and forced migration to western and northern territories (mostly towards Canada, protected by the British) because of all the consequences of the Revolutionary War (lost territories, failed alliances, settlers advancing and buying their lands and so on). So tells us history, unfortunately. It's a fact. And this is wisely showed to us in the AC3 main game when, after all the Kanien'kehá:ka tribes had left the territory around Connor's village (yes, even those near New York, to be clear) even Connor's own tribe at last migrates west, leaving an empty ghost village. They had remained all along to protect the secret temple, but in the end they as well were forced to leave. So, to me it's highly improbable that in upstate NY, one could still find a tribe and even if so, that Connor would let his family live there and risk their safety everyday.
3) The whole comic plot revolves around the fact that Io:nhiòte has a "special gift"... She inexplicably knows how to read the ground and find animal traces, she also can perform a perfect twisted acrobatic flip in the air and land unharmed to the ground. Do we know why? No, don't ask! xD She simply knows U.U, even if right after the next scene she slips and falls miserably down a cliff xD, but... ok!! Beside that, when Connor is far away to search for some water and is about to be attacked by a wolf hidden in the grass nearby, she sees the whole scene from the eyes of an eagle flying in the sky above her. As I said before, this reminds us of Bayek's (never clearly explained) ability to see through his eagle Senu's eyes and spot dangers and enemies. Now can you tell me why the hell this little girl has super powers and a skill Bayek had? As I said, they are not even directely related, as Bayek is not one of Desmond Miles' ancestor, we know him simply because Layla's new Animus is magical and can inexplicably read fragmented DNA from people who died a thousand years ago (it can also prepair coffee, I think!). So, where did she get that from? Magic? Mysteries of life? Convenient improbable connections for marketing's sake? We'll never know and you should simply accept that and ask no question!
4) From her height, way of speaking/moving/running, I assume Io:nhiòte is at least 8 years old, 8 - 9 minimum. She's the youngest of three siblings, who must be at least two years older than her and than each other (according to a human woman pregnancy timing!). If the comic events are set 12 years after the main game ending (1784, when Connor also starts to train the young ex-slave Patience Gibbs, arriving at the Davenport homestead with Aveline De Grandpré, according to AC IV Black Flag bonus mission with Aveline), so, this means that in that same year Connor must have found hastily the love of his life in a Native village (as if he was easy to open himself with other people after all he's been through), married her, impregnated her and seen her give birth to their first child, all in the same year when (let's not foget! xD) he still is the leader of the Colonial Assassin Brotherhood at the Davenport homestead training novices. Now, this may even be possible humanly speaking, (well, if you force the things a bit and hurry up!) but highly unlikely to happen!! xD
These are the main problems affecting the logic of the comic in my opinion, the points making its foundations crumble apart. Though I'm sure there are many little others to point out, such as Otso Berg "opening" Connor's files... like what? Where did those data come out from? I remember playing AC IV Black Flag and uncovering a file where Abstergo researchers themselves closed access to his memories as there was "nothing appealing to this character anymore"! So, if no more researches were conducted on him since 2013, where did Mr Berg magically or conveniently discovered such data in 2017?
Or... do we want to talk about the cover? It shows Connor in the spirit outfit from the Tyranny of King Washington DLC, which has apparently nothing to do with the comic, since it is set in his present day and he wears his assassin standard robe. Now, I think that can be either a simple marketing choice to make the comic more appealing, as... well, that cover is so cool, let's admit that, or maybe the subtle suggestion that the events told in it are just a parallel Disney-like reality and are not to be considered true at all! xD i don't know, maybe both explanations are right.
I'm sure that the deeper i dig, the more nothing rational I'll find!
If you played the old games, if you know well the franchise and its lore, the true, good, old AC lore, you definitely realize by yourself how that comic is useless and senseless.
This doesn't mean I do not wish an "happy ending" for Connor. But I'd rather accept something coherent with the main game events and AC chronology. Also, it doesn't necessarily needs to be a "happy" ending, as they conveniently created to please complaining fans. I wished for something real... coherent with his personality, acquired life-style and endless sense of duty and values.
Maybe that's what pushed me to write my FanFic novel in the first place, after all... To give him MY OWN cohesive ending, including my love, for love is always needed, I guess.
I'm so sorry if the answer took this long in time and words, but you were warned! ^w^
Though, thank you... Seriously, thank you so much for asking. You made me reflect once more about this matter.
Come visit me again, if you want. Take care

P.S. Oh, and if you're interested, this is my "jelousy song", for when things like this trigger my inner witch!! xD

Video Game Review: Assassin’s Creed Revelations (Ubisoft, 2011)
Tumblr media
Genres: action-adventure, third person, open world
Premise: Ezio Auditore travels to Constantinople to unlock the secret of Altaïr's vault in Masyaf, battling Templars who also want the vault’s contents. In the present day, Desmond Miles is trapped in the Animus and must find a "synch nexus", a key memory that links him with Altaïr and Ezio, to reintegrate his splintered subconscious and awaken from his coma.
Platform Played On: PC (Windows)
Rating: 3/5 stars
***Full review under the cut.***
I am evaluating this game based on four key aspects: story, characters, gameplay, and visuals. I will not be evaluating the multiplayer mode because I don’t like playing video games with other people.
Content Warnings: violence, blood
Story: The main premise of Revelations’ story is that, following the end of Brotherhood, Desmond has fallen into a coma. The stress of being controlled by Juno has splintered his subconscious, so in an effort to save his life, Rebecca Crane and a mysterious figure have placed him back in the Animus. In order to repair his mind and escape, Desmond must “play out” the remainder of Ezio’s memories, so he follows his ancestor as he travels to Masyaf in search of Altaïr's vault, which requires five “keys” to open. These keys have been hidden around Constantinople, and Ezio must race against the Templars during the political conflict between Şehzade Ahmet and Selim I.
Desmond’s plot follows a somewhat natural progression. Though I missed his interactions with the Assassin team, it makes sense that his next big adventure would involve being trapped in the Animus and learning more from Subject 16. I liked that gameplay in Ezio’s world unlocked some puzzles in Desmond’s world (even though he’s trapped in the Animus, he inhabits a little island where he can be himself) and that these puzzles told us more about Desmond’s past. I did not think, however, that Desmond’s past was related in a compelling way. Most of it is told to us through Desmond monologuing as the player completes puzzles that are somewhat reminiscent of Portal. I thought Desmond’s past could have been done better, perhaps by having flashback scenes like how Altair’s past is related.
Ezio’s plot felt like it was lacking, and I think the reason is that the past 3 games have focused on finding and controlling the Apple/Piece of Eden, whereas this game is about opening a vault/library.  Ezio’s story also lacks a strong antagonist to tie things together; instead of battling the Borgias, Ezio is competing with general “Templars,” and even though there are some prominent Templar figures, none of them had “stage presence” like Cesare Borgia did. Though I liked the political backdrop, I think Ezio himself was ill-suited for it. It sort of feels like the creators wanted to extend Ezio’s story rather than start something new with a protagonist who was more connected to the setting, and though recovering Altair’s library is a fun goal, I think the story should have revolved around someone who grew up in the region.
I did like that we got to delve a little deeper into Altair’s past and learn more about him. Unless you play the portable Assassin’s Creed games, you don’t get to learn much about what happened to Altair in ACII and Brotherhood, so it was nice to see some exploration of his life in a game that was centered on uncovering his work.
Tumblr media
Characters: Ezio, our protagonist and player-controlled character, is a little older in this game, and while he’s still likable, he’s much more serious and down-to-business. I’m a bit torn as to whether his demeanor fits the setting of the game - on the one hand, I loved that the European character wasn’t presented as someone who comes to the Middle East and takes charge. Ezio definitely has much to learn, and his skills are seen as having value without being superior. On the other, I do wish the protagonist had been someone who lived in the area - I got the feeling that Ezio was made the protagonist because of his popularity rather than his suitability for the setting, and while I appreciate that Revelations closed out his arc, I don’t really think it was needed.
The major supporting character in this game is Yusuf Tazim, leader of the Turkish Assassin Order. He shows Ezio around and provides much-needed instructions and lore, and he’s incredibly charismatic and personable. Ezio also encounters historical figures such as Manuel Palaiologos and the future Suleiman the Magnificent, which were fun treats for history enthusiasts, but not extremely commanding personalities. Instead of courtesans appearing throughout the city, there are Romani people seen hanging about, and though I liked that they were included and talked about their oppression, I do think their visual design and function during gameplay were somewhat stereotypical.
Ezio furthermore gets a real love interest in this game in the form of Sofia Sartor, an Italian traveler and book collector who helps him locate the keys. I thought the interactions with her were sweet, but she was a kind of damsel in distress and she didn’t have much personality other than liking books for a large part of the game.
Desmond, for his part, doesn’t get a lot to do, despite this game being about reconstructing his psyche and digging into his past. I liked that we learned more about him, but I do wish the stakes of being trapped in the Animus were higher.
Tumblr media
Gameplay: Revelations uses almost all of the same mechanics as Brotherhood. There are armor and weapon upgrades, treasure stashes, upgrades to the city of Constantinople (which stimulates the economy and earns the player more money), etc. Art merchants are replaced with book merchants, so instead of buying paintings, players can purchase codices, but functionally, they were the same. Similarly, instead of freeing areas from Borgia influence, players liberate “Templar dens” and turn them into “Assassin dens,” and while they’re thematically different from the Borgia towers, they’re functionally the same. Players complete assassination missions in which you kill the captain of the guard responsible for overseeing the Templar den, but instead of blowing it up, you trick your enemy by signaling Templar retreat, allowing the Assassins to move in and take over the area. You can also recruit assassins and make use of thieves, mercenaries, and courtesans much the same way as in Brotherhood, though courtesans are replaced by Romani people. There was a moment in Sequence 2 when Ezio had to defend the Assassin safehouse from a Templar attack, and gameplay involved placing barricades, commanders, archers, riflemen, and cannon fire. while balancing morale and damage. I kind of liked the strategy involved and it could have been an interesting mechanic for the rest of the Templar dens/Assassin safehouses, but alas, this moment only occurred the one time unless you’re not paying attention to your infamy meter (which was easy to take care of).
The major weapon upgrade in this game is the introduction of the hook blade and various types of bombs. Bombs ranged from simple noisemakers, to stink bombs, mild explosives, smoke screens, and other useful ranged attacks, while the hook blade enabled faster climbing as well as traveling along zip lines. These weapons were fun, but because so much of the other gameplay was the same as in Brotherhood, they felt like cosmetic patches to an otherwise repetitive gameplay experience.
Tumblr media
Visuals: As always, I adored the look of the historical setting. The artists and developers beautifully rendered Constantinople, and I loved seeing more rich colors and details on the buildings and clothing of NPCs than when playing as Altair in the first Assassin’s Creed. I also really loved the look of Ezio’s armor, which forwent the classic white and red palette and opted for a more somber grey. The grey blended with the surroundings a bit better, in my opinion.
What really threw me off was that the facial models for some of the returning characters were altered. Both Ezio’s and Desmond’s face shapes are a little different from how they appear in Brotherhood, and though I do not doubt the change was in service to testing out advancements in graphics, I couldn’t quite shake the uncanny valley vibe.
Animations were up and down; upon starting this game, I encountered a horrible glitch that made the screen flicker and movement impossible, but luckily, I was able to fix it easily using instructions from other players who had the bug. There were some really satisfying combat animations, including finishing moves that upped the level of Ezio’s epic skills, but sometimes they lagged or a bug would make them not connect to an opponent. While not the end of the world, it was noticeable and sometimes took me out of the immersion experience.
Tumblr media
Final Verdict: Despite repeating much of the gameplay from Brotherhood and unnecessarily extending Ezio’s story, Revelations presents a beautiful atmosphere and fun adventure to unlock some much-desired background to Altair’s narrative.

Based on a unique premise, Assassin's Creed successfully combines historical fiction and action-adventure to create an open world extravaganza that keeps pushing boundaries, taking players into increasingly enveloping and engaging scenarios.
RELATED: Assassin's Creed: Recapping 10 Most Important Plot Points From The Series
The latest entries took players further into the past than ever before and while the franchise had its ups and downs, it has managed to retain a great deal of consistency throughout its twelve entries. Perhaps a tad too comfortable with its traditional gameplay, something reviewers often point out, the series has never shied away from exploring new ideas and epochs, constantly evolving along with the industry and always offering something new that keeps critics satisfied and audiences begging for more.
12 Assassin's Creed: Unity (2014) - 71
Tumblr media
2014 was not a good year for Assassin's Creed. Both of their releases received the lowest scores in the entire franchise, with Assassin's Creed: Unity achieving a weighted average of 71, indicating "Mixed or average reviews." Most of the criticism centered on the game's small scope and numerous technical issues which included bugs and glitches, poor graphics, as well as performance and connectivity issues.
The plot is set during the French Revolution and centers on Arno Victor Dorian's efforts to expose the true powers behind the revolution.
11 Assassin's Creed: Rogue (2014) - 72
Tumblr media
The first of two games released in 2014, Assassin's Creed: Rogue's final mission actually serves as the prologue for Unity. Set during the Seven Year's War, Rogue follows Shay Patrick Cormac, an Assassin turned Templar, in his efforts to hunt down and kill members of the Brotherhood who betrayed him.
With a weighted average of 72, Rogue holds a "Mixed or average reviews" grade in Metacritic. Praise went to the primary twist of playing as a Templar instead of an Assassin, as well as the complexity of the titular character. The game, however, received criticism for its similarities to Black Flag, as well the plot's overall predictability.
10 Assassin's Creed: Syndicate (2015) - 76
Tumblr media
Things improved by 2015, but the franchise remained at a low point with Assassin's Creed: Syndicate. With a weighted average of 76, firmly set on the "Mix or average reviews" camp, Syndicate follows twin Assassin's Jacob and Evie Frye's attempts to take back their city from Templar control.
Set during Victorian-era London, Syndicate received a more positive reception than Unity and Rogue, with particular praise going to the plot, graphics, and missions. Many considered it a return to form for the franchise, although criticism was directed at the repetitiveness of the gameplay.
9 Assassin's Creed (2007) - 80
Tumblr media
The game that started it all, Assassin's Creed takes place during the Third Crusade in the Holy Land and introduces Desmond Miles, the franchise's de-facto lead (at least during the first games.) The central conflict between Assassins and Templars is also introduced.
Praised for its innovative premise, engaging storytelling and visuals, and overall originality, Assassin's Creed received a weighted average of 80, indicating "generally favorable reviews." In 2016, a feature film starring Michael Fassbender and inspired by the original idea AC idea premiered to mixed reviews. It was a box-office bomb.
8 Assassin's Creed: Revelations (2011) - 80
Tumblr media
The fourth game in the main series, Revelations continues the story of Desmond Miles as he tries to avert the 2012 apocalypse. It is mainly set during the 12th and 13th-century in Masyaf, Cappadocia, and Constantinople.
RELATED: Why Fans Are Worried (And Hyped) About Netflix's Upcoming Assassin's Creed Adaptation
Like most games in the franchise, the repetitive and familiar gameplay received criticism, although Revelations also received praise for its storyline and graphics. It is also the first and so far only game where all its versions received the same grade on Metacritic, with PC, X360, and PS3 all getting an 80 "generally favorable" review.
7 Assassin's Creed III (2012) - 83
Tumblr media
The sequel to Revelations and fifth game overall - despite the III on the title - Assassin's Creed III continues the apocalypse storyline and is set during the American Revolution. It received generally positive reviews, with an average weighted score of 83 on Metacritic.
The game was involved in controversy when it was accused of anti-British sentiment while promoting American nationalism, particularly during the marketing stage. Once released, critics agreed that the depiction of both sides was balanced, with Kotaku agreeing with the developers claim that the game did not portray or endorse jingoism
6 Assassin's Creed: Origins (2017) - 83
Tumblr media
A successor to Syndicate, Origins is set in Egypt at the end of the Ptolemaic Period circa 49 BC. It explores the conflict between the Hidden Ones - ancestors of the Assassins - and The Order of the Ancients - forerunners of the Templars. It introduced role-playing elements but retained the open-world and stealth elements typical to the franchise.
Praised for the bold and new direction in which it took the franchise, as well as the freedom its vast open-world allowed,  Origins also received criticism for its slow pace and technical issues. With an average of 83 on Metacritic, indicating "generally positive reviews," Origins successfully took Assassin's Creed into new and exciting territory.
5 Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (2020) - 83
Tumblr media
The latest entry into the Assassin's Creed canon, Valhalla serves as a successor to Odyssey. Set during the Viking Invasion of Britain circa 872 AD, the player assumes control of the Viking Eivor, who becomes involved in the ancient conflict between Templars and Assassins.
Highly anticipated since its announcement, Valhalla received praise for its narrative and world design. Criticism was once again aimed at the familiarity of the gameplay. Indeed, the game plays more like a mixed-tape of previous hits rather than a fresh new entry of original tunes. With an average score of 83, however, Valhalla is a clear signal that the franchise is still in fine form.
4 Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag (2013) - 85
Tumblr media
Black Flag marked a shift in the series' gameplay. Set in the 18th-century Caribbean during the Golden Age of Piracy, Black Flag follows Welsh pirate Edward Kenway who stumbles upon the Assassin/Templar conflict. The game features a great deal of ship-based action, with particular emphasis on strategy and exploration.
RELATED: Netflix's Assassin's Creed: Things The 2016 Movie Got Wrong That The Series Needs To Get Right
Critically acclaimed upon release, Black Flag was considered an interesting and successful shift to the traditional formula. Criticism remained for the repetitiveness of the missions, as well as the modern-day storyline which was considered intrusive. Black Flag's open world received considerable praise, particularly for its large scope. With an 85 Metacritic score, it received high notes in all its iterations, with its PS3 version as the highest rated.
3 Assassin's Creed: Odyssey (2018) - 85
Tumblr media
Premiering in 2018, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey took the franchise into full RPG mode. Odyssey took players further into the past than ever before, taking place between the years 431-422 BC. Set against the backdrop of the Peloponnesian War, the player controls a mercenary who fights for both sides as they attempt to find their family.
Odyssey received critical acclaim for its characters, scope, setting, plot, gameplay, and story. However, it was criticized for being overly ambitious. Indeed, the game's reach sometimes exceeds its grasp. It achieved a weighted score of 85 on Metacritic, indicating "generally favorable reviews."
2 Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood (2010) - 89
Tumblr media
Entering into the golden age of Assassin's Creed, Brotherhood serves as a direct sequel to Assassin's Creed II and continues Ezio Auditore da Firenze's quest to restore the Assassin order and bring down his enemies, the powerful Borgia family.
Set in 16th-century Italy, mainly Rome, Brotherhood earned critical acclaim. Reviewers praised the setting, gameplay, and multiplayer mode, although some found the story inferior to its predecessor. The PS3 version is the first one to achieve a 90 on Metacritic, although its weighted average is 89 when counting the X-Box 360 and PC versions.
1 Assassin's Creed II (2009) - 89
Tumblr media
Assassin's Creed II consolidated the franchise as a true force to be reckoned in the gaming world. Taking place at the height of the Italian Renaissance, the plot follows Ezio as he seeks vengeance against those who betrayed his family, discovering mysteries left behind by an ancient race known as the First Civilization.
Critically acclaimed at the time of its release, ACII's open world, in which the player can explore Florence, Venice, Monteriggioni, and Forli, received universal praise. The PS3 version is the highest rated in the franchise, achieving a score of 91, indicating "universal acclaim." The average score is brought down by the PC version, though, which only achieved an 86.

The three knew that they were safe from Abstergo on Tumblr so they decided to stay there until the foundation of Abstergo was demolished and disbanded.

On the 13th of November, sixteen years ago, Assassin's Creed was released in North America for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
Tumblr media
The plot is set in a fictional history of real-world events, taking place primarily during the Third Crusade in the Holy Land in 1191. The player character is a modern-day man named Desmond Miles who, through a machine called the Animus, relives the genetic memories of his ancestor, Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad. Through this plot device, details emerge about a millennia-old struggle between two factions: the Assassin Brotherhood (inspired by the real-life Order of Assassins), who fight to preserve peace and free will, and the Templar Order (inspired by the Knights Templar military order), who seek to establish peace through order and control. Both factions fight over powerful artifacts of mysterious origins known as Pieces of Eden to gain an advantage over each other. The 12th-century portion of the story follows Altaïr, an Assassin, who embarks on a quest to regain his honour after botching a mission to recover one such artifact from the Templars; he does so by finding and assassinating nine targets across the Holy Land.
The gameplay focuses on using Altaïr's combat, stealth, and parkour abilities to defeat enemies and explore the environment. The game features counter-based hack-and-slash combat, social stealth (the ability to use crowds of people and the environment to hide from enemies), and a large open world comprising various regions of the Holy Land, primarily the cities of Masyaf, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus, all of which have been accurately recreated to fit the game's period. While most of the game takes place within a simulation based on Altaïr's memories, the player will occasionally be forced out of the Animus to play as Desmond in the modern day. Here, they are restricted to exploring a small laboratory facility, as Desmond has been kidnapped by a shady corporation looking for specific information within Altaïr's memories that will further their enigmatic goals.
Upon release, Assassin's Creed received generally positive reviews, with critics praising its storytelling, visuals, art design, and originality, while criticism mostly focused on the repetitive nature of its gameplay. Assassin's Creed won several awards at the 2006 E3 and several end-year awards after its release.

Random 2,000 word Short story
Soul mates, a term that was known to Desmond Miles, but it wasn't one that was a real thing. At least in the world that he had originally come from. Originally, now- that sounds odd, Desmond had placed his hand on the pedestal- knowing that it would kill him, but would save the world from the extinction level event of the massive solar flare. He had fully expected nothingness, after the agony had ended, but he woke up, very confused and hurt- dear God did his arm and shoulder. He was almost frozen from the pain, but he needed to get up and get out of here before the Templars found him. It would be a very bad thing if he was found by them in his weakened state. Plus he needed to find his father and his friends and get treatment for his arm.
He staggered out of the cave that hid the entrance to the Temple of Time. Over the next few months- after going to an emergency clinic and the nurse on staff fix him up with magic, honest to goodness magic to fix him up he... realized as he looked around with careful eyes that the world he was now in- and no it wasn't a hallucination- or a series of them had magical beings. Oh good- as a human in a world where there were creatures far stronger and dangerous than he. Fun- hopefully he could find a Library and read up on etiquette so he didn't offend someone so much that he got munched on. Or worse, and he didn't know what could be worse, but knowing his kind of luck, something much, much worse. So he was able to get to a Library and get a card and slowly read through world history books and all the other books he needed to in order to survive in a new world. It was equal parts boring, scary and interesting.
He was also able to forge documents that he needed in order to be deemed a person and got a Bartender's license and was able to get a job a one of the few jobs that he had really liked in his previous life. Desmond kept his head down and did his job, reveling in the mundaness of this new life, happy that he wouldn't have to worry about Templars or Assassins, at least so far he hadn't needed to worry about it. Juno- she was so angry. In this world she hadn't been able to escape because he survived. Minerva had warned him that if anyone found out that it was He that saved the world with the Aurora Arboreal Shield that his life would be misery. He didn't trust any of the Isu- but he also knew that they had a point. Besides, who would believe him if he told them the truth anyways?
So- finding out this world had legitimate soul mates had been... shocking to say the least. There was a name on the inside of left wrist- he had touched the pedestal with his right hand. He had read the name, then scoffed bitterly. It was someone, at least in his world, that had already died. Of course, he had shitty luck with this. Of course he did- fate just loved to screw him over as much as it could. The name was Connor Ratonhake:ton Kenway. His other arm- the one that had been burnt he covered. At first to help it recover, then later, once it was fully he found out that he had scars on that arm, which made sense that he would have them with burns as bad as he had. Starting at his finger tips and moving up his arm and ending curled around his shoulder joint was a series geometric matters that, when he used magic- which was another whole nasty surprise that he'd gotten- that arm would glow and the patterns on that arm reminded him of the Apple and other pieces of Eden with the markings that covered them.
Best to cover himself- than gain unwanted attention, he did not know how the two orders were different, if much or a lot with this different world. He had regular customers and those that did not come in again. When he served Altair ah la bin ahad, he had made sure not to react- as there were other people that reacted to his presence, so it was that he was actually there and not a hallucination. Which- okay was fucking weird. Then a few months later he gave Ezio Auditore a drink and a small platter of food. Okay- so a couple of his ancestors - were not so in this world, at least... not at this point in time. Well, he had dealt with the weirdest of things in his life before, and he could deal with it now.
What he did not expect, a few nights later- was to be attacked and kidnapped, by Templars. Again. Oh by the randomness of the universe why? Why him? Why again? I this world he was a nobody - a... a nobody that looked a lot like a pair of Master Assassins. Not again, oh HELL no. He did not want to be tortured by Templars, again, because of who is related to- well probably not, but because of who he resembled. He was roughly shoved into what sounded like a cell with the bag on his head pulled off, he looked around, miserable and frustrated. Luckily for him Cesare Borgia was informed of the fact that "Ezio Auditore" was in the special cell that made his type of beings powers null and void. Borgia swaggered in and stared at him.
"Who the Hell are you- Damn it those idiots grabbed the wrong person." Cesare sighed in annoyance and he scolded his people, but he couldn't just let this person go- as they could and probably would go to the police and tell them what had happened to him, not that they'd believe that a nobody like this poor sod that happened to resemble an Auditore had been kidnapped by the Borgia- but it would cause a fracas and he'd get into trouble with his superiors. "what's the name on your wrist?"
"... Why should I tell you mysterious kidnapper person?" Desmond retorted, snapping the question out.
"Because I can release them into your care if you tell me- so long as you don't tell anyone about this little... misunderstanding." Cesare replied.
Desmond stared at the arrogant Templar. "... I cann't pronounce part of the name."
"Just tell me as much of as you can." Cesare replied getting annoyed.
"Fine. Connor. Ra-raton-hake:ton Kenway. I double you know this person." Desmond replied.
Except, in this world he had been found by his Father sooner and is a loyal and powerful Templar Knight. Desmond did not know that though, not yet at least.
"..." Cesare was quiet, "I will get your soul mate shortly."
No one lied about the name on their wrist, this could cause some minor problems, but it was also fortuitous. This random soul had the name of a fellow Templar, hopefully the annoyance that the other Templar would have when he heard of the capture of a civilian would be lessened once he found out that it was his soul mate.
An hour or so later Desmond blinked as he saw the tall and physically impressive form of his soul mate. "... Hello? The weirdo that captured me said he'd bring me my soul mate... is that you?"
"Yes, Hello Desmond, I'm Connor."
"it's nice to meet you- can you get me out of here please? I don't know why I was kidnapped to meet you... seems rather... extreme?" he replied, the question at the end of the sentence wasn't something that he meant to have happen.
"I.. did not have this happen. Cesare... was looking for someone else. I apologize, will you come with me to get out of here?"
"Yes please!" Desmond replied as he followed the other out of the cell and to where to other men- both older and taller than him.
Connor's father and- ... why was Cormac, of all of the members of Kenway's Inner circle with the pair of Kenways.
He spoke with them politely, as much as he could when anxious- and when he got anxious he turned into a smart ass. It made Cormac crack a grin, while Kenway seemed mildly disapproving of this nervous chatter. He found out why- Cormac is the older Kenway's soul mate. Huh- well isn't that something? He shrugged, it wasn't his problem.
He got to know his soul mate and father's in law over the next few months. One day he tugged Connor to the side and showed him one of his secrets. His hands glowed and he showed him a small portion of a shield- the colors of the rainbow. Connor's eyes widened as he tired told the other that he had been the one to protect the world from the Solar Maxima- which he had known for a certain which would have cause extinction level events across the whole world if he hadn't... nearly died. He quietly informed the other that he had thought he would die, and had accepted, at least as much as one could accept such a horrid thing to happen to one's self. And... one of the reasons why he hadn't tried to search for his soul mate earlier- because he knew he was going to die, or at least he thought he was going to on that cold December day. Connor had reached out and held him tight, as Desmond quietly told him of being talked at by the Isu- or Ancient Ones, as this world knew them by. As the three specters of a once wretched and powerful society had told him bits and pieces of information over the years and had let him make the choice. And what kind of choice was it? Allow the world to burn and be assured of survival, or die (or almost) and save everyone else... So he made the only choice he thought was the right one. Needs of the few, outweigh the needs of the many and all that.
Neither were aware that Shay and Haytham had just so happened be nearby to hear Desmond speak of this. It was... a surprise to hear him tell Connor of this. Instead of showing the world, and having the proof of having everyone in the world owe him a life debt- even though with the humans it didn't effect them as much, it did more for all of the magical beings. He wanted to live a quiet life, in peace and content with his sacrifice being known to as few people as possible. They would keep quiet, despite the fact that everyone wanted to know who it was that had saved them- who was strong enough to cover the world in a shield and redirect the energy of the sun harmlessly and why they hadn't known about such a person before and why now of all times. Now, they knew, as did Connor. Who agreed to keep this secret from others.
They looked at each other and nodded before heading off and speaking to each other quietly. "So- that's what the lad has been hiding from us and Connor. I am glad that the lad isn't an Assassin- I'm sorry for worrying you about that but- it... he just seemed to move like one."
"It's alright Shay, I am glad as well to know the young man's story, his true story and not the falsified one on a faked paper trail. Hm... I will do my best to have this legitimized as much as possible."
Shay nodded and the two of them headed off to work. Why Connor and Desmond snuggled and watched a movie after a lot of heavy feelings and emotional talk and secrets came out from both of them.

youtube
The Assassin’s Creed Univers channel on YouTube managed to interview the head of content and lore for Assassin’s Creed, Aymar Azaizia a few months ago. The original interview was in French, and can be watched [ here ], and this video is the interview transcript in English.
A written transcript of the interview is under the following cut:
We learnt 18 Facts about the Assassin’s Creed franchise so far:
Maria (from the AC Movie) is not an ancestor of Callum Lynch, meaning that Maria and Aguilar, while romantically involved, did not have children.
We may see more content of Maria and Aguilar in the future.
Aymar doesn’t think Michael Fassbender will be interested in doing voice-acting for the games because of his busy filming schedule; meaning we won’t be seeing either Cal Lynch or Aguilar de Nerha in the games. But we may be seeing Cal in the comic books or novels, if it works for the story.
The Apple of Eden seen in the movie does not contain the genetic code for violence; It actually contains the original genetic code for the First Civilization that allows them to create humans. If the Templars got a hold of this Apple, they will be able to change their own human genome and share genes with the First Civilization to be able to control mankind.
Aymar does not want to reveal the identity of the man who visited the graves of Lucy Stillman and Daniel Cross, to maintain a sense of mystery over some aspects of Assassin’s Creed.
The young kid in the ‘Assassin’s Creed Uprising’ comics is indeed Desmond's son. This character came from the writer of the Uprising series, and be making appearances in future issues of the comic, but no confirmation if he will appear in the game.
Desmond is indeed dead; however his consciousness, as well as Clay’s lies somewhere in the grey. We might learn more about the grey, and see Desmond and Clay again, albiet in non-physical forms.
We will see more of the “physical Animus” we see in the AC Movie. This version of the Animus allows the subject to be more synchronized, but the risk of Bleeding Effect is much higher.
There will be more info on the Precursor Boxes, as seen in AC Rogue, and the AC Chronicles series.
What we see in the Animus may not always the truth: The Animus creates simulations on what most likely happened in history, based on genetic info from the subject’s DNA and historical databases.
Aymar said that it was possible to see more of Arno, Connor and the Frye twins. Ezio’s story was concluded with AC Embers; so there’s room for development of the other Assassins.
The AC Heresy novel heavily featured the historical figure, Jeanne d’Arc (Joan of Arc). We may see more of the historical figures that used Pieces of Eden, whom were featured in Subject 16′s puzzle Glyphs.
Some fans remarked that it was unfair that a lot of important storylines, especially pertaining to the Modern Day storyline, were being developed in the transmedia (comics, novels, etc) and not in the main games. Aymar remarked that have heard what the fans have to say, and have learnt from their mistakes. He also remarks that fans will be able to play AC Origins even without having been exposed to the comics/novels.
We might see more of characters changing sides. While there are lots of examples of Assassins turning Templar (Shay Cormac, Duncan Walpole, Lucy Stillman), there might be more instances of Templars joining the Assassins, especially now that the series has grown from the Assassins being the “good guys” and the Templars being the “bad guys”, and more of both factions sitting in the morally grey area.
The Assassins will have more “real goals” in future stories, instead of just trying to stop whatever the Templars have planned.
We will learn more about the First Civilization.
The team has mused over the idea of playable memories during the First Civ era, from thinking over how that era would look, etc. So there is potential for seeing First Civ memories in the future.
The developers have a few ideas about the Assassin's Creed franchise is going to end, but nothing is written on paper yet and they don't know when it's going to happen. However, they do know when Juno's arc is going to end.

InFamous Protocreed: Chapter 1
Rating: T for swearing and mentions of death.
Genre: ??? I don’t know??? It’s kind of establishing the situation so???
Summary: Abstergo is plotting their come-back. And it’s not going to be pretty.
Other Warning: Kind of OC centric. We don’t know how the two other guardians or the General are, so I gave them an identity. There are also sliiights references to Watch Dogs, since AC and WD are set in the same verse.
Word count: 2 358 words
“No, no, I see... I assure you sir, we’ll get it under control... of course, of course... Yes, yes, of course... Bye.” Click. “It was cTos. Wanna know what happened to Miles? He’s back to life.” “What - FUCK!” “Elena, swearing will help us around nothing.” “Okay, listen here you weichei sarcastic french piece of shit. The third member is dead again because of his ridiculously complicated Animus bullshit, the Council of Elders is on our ass, we weren’t able to get anything out about the Face of Izanami-’’ ‘‘That happened 9 years ago, Elena, and the General of the Cross himself said that they were not angry at us. They even noted that it was preferable we took Subject 13 out of the Animus Project and Vidic suffered the consequences of putting a psychotic teen in the Animus by us putting Subject 13 and the step-daughter of Fanu into another project we created at the time. His own incompetence caused him to have to find another assistant in the neck of time before we got Subject 14.’’ ‘‘And guess what, shitlord? The Ikarinoshi and Whiteshadow projects are currently taking us nowhere. And, before your rude interruption, I was about to note that Subject 17 ended up getting three of our members killed, one of them being the creator of the Animus Project, another the perfect spy against the Assassins and the last one was one of our best element!’’
The two persons you see bickering there are Elena Verflcuht, a rather masculine woman with short brown, greying hair and angry grey eyes behind glasses, and Liam Calmer, a seemingly weak man in a weelchair with slicked back black hair and matching-in-color seemingly gentle eyes, both of them in a suit. The two members of the Guardians, as the third following Alan Rikkin’s demise as still not been chosen. Not that it bothered them, as they were used to working as a duo due to the third place being “cursed”, a rumor due to the third member of the Guardians often meeting an atrocious fate. Elena often going onto the field and doing surprises inspections of everything and Liam holding her back, thinking with his head and generally being softer than her. So, the two of them bickering was not an unfamiliar sight, even if currently no one was currently watching them. ‘‘We then found his corpse and, instead of trying to find out what the fuck happened to his arm - his arm looked weird, right?’’ ‘‘Yes. Burned to the point of the skin looking black, the bones in his arm fused and last time I checked, strange black lines looking like the ones on the Apple of Eden where starting to form. Also, his corpse was not the worst for wear. Besides his arm, everything was in perfect conditions and his corpse showed no signs that corpses normally show. No decomposition. Nothing. It was perfectly conserved. Almost as if he was simply frozen.’’ ‘‘So you’re telling me the corpse in itself was weird.’’ ‘‘Yes.’’
‘‘Great. So, instead of trying to discover what is wrong with that corpse, we instead decide to use his DNA to make shitty video games. And then, the corpse mysteriously disappear and it’s only six years later, right now, that we are informed of the fact that apparently, Desmond Fuckmylife’’ - ‘‘Miles’’ - ‘‘is still alive and kicking! Add that to the whole story behind Subject 17, the fiasco that is Gentek with Mercer apparent survival, our utter failure concerning the mask, Ardant’s death, the greatest fiasco in the history of Abstergo since Saint George that Rikkin provoked with the new Animus model - please tell me you ordered the discontinuation of this project?’’ ‘‘No worries, I did. I also placed Rikkin’s daughter in the Ikarinoshi project.’’ ‘‘Okay, thank you, I love you. Where was I?... Oh yeah: our security fail with Abstergo entertainment, the hacking of the Assassins with the Helix, and the recent developments with the whole Conduit matter -remind me to pay a visit to Augustine about the shit storm that is currently brewing, no way I’m letting another man in his twenties with something not human about him fuck us up- and are you really surprised that I am currently thinking that the Templar Order is going to hit a point lower than the Borgias?’’ The sound of a slap echoed throughout the room. “Get a hold of yourself, Elena. First of all, we are not going to hit a lower point than the Borgias, nothing his lower than the Borgias. We are just going through rough times. Second, when was an Assassin’s victory ever the final word? Have you forgotten the fact that the Shroud is in our possession? Did we not rise from our ashes numerous times greater than before?” “...Yes.”
“The Assassins don’t know what they are going against, Elena. We have allies. Powerful ones. And they are easily influenced. We just need to find the opportunity. We also know where we can find Miles’ child, so if we ever need to resume the project, we can abduct him. He’s going to be 13 this year. As for the Ikarinoshi project, the Bleeding effect of Kinnori was the most benign of them all: since he already hear voices, hearing the voices of his ancestors doesn’t affect him much. Scanning his neuronal activity already helped us to greatly diminish the possibility of the Bleeding Effect when conceiving the Helix, and after some years of research, we got an effective treatment against psychosis which got us about a few millions. As for the White Shadow project, I won’t deny the researches are going slowly, but it’s always going forward. And, unlike the incompetents at Gentek, Miss Reiaya is extremely careful when experimenting with it. As for Desmond Miles, the information about his survival is only a recent development. If it took us five years finding out about it, then there is no chances the Assassins know about this. They have close to no resources, after all. Us? More than we need. We just need to wait for the perfect moment. And I think you also forgot our recent development concerning cTos and Blume.’’
“You’re right. This is the first thing since the last 9 years that has gone fucking right. We fucking bought them!” “Nice to see your charming attitude is back, my dear.” Two laugh echoed throughout the room, one bombastic and the other calm, but no less menacing. “You see, things are going to go back in road, we just have to wait-” Call from the Council of Elders and the General of the Cross in transfer. “Shit.” “Alright, Elena, we need to play nice.” “Only if they do.” “Put them on the screen.” The two guardians turned toward the large screen, waiting for something to happen. Finally, the face of Ellen Kaye appeared on screen. “I guess you two don’t have any good news?” “Sadly enough, no. We are in a stagnant position right now. Abstergo’s luck has been pretty bleak since March 2009, and since the Templar order and Abstergo are essentially one and the same, it means we have difficulty making progress.” “Of course you do. The Guardians are essentially useless without a third member after all.” “What did you just say you b-” “Elena calm down. Kaye, just because we have difficulty making progress don’t mean we haven’t made any.” “I don’t care. You two are currently being a hassle right now-” “Mrs Kaye. Play nice. I trust mister Calmer with the situation and that he has found the sources of our problems. Haven’t you?”
Liam and Elena immediately tensed. Out of the shadows came the General of the Cross themselves. It was quite hard to establish exactly what kind of person they were. Lanky physique, unsettling pale eyes, dressed in a strange white suit which hid their lower face, white hair, everything about them seemed ethereal. The fact that they had a low, gentle voice contrasting with their unsettling appearance and that they where essentially the current leader of a millennia-years old conspiracy didn’t help. “So, mister Calmer, have you?” “I.. of course. My companion and I were discussing this before you called in. I found four sources to our problems that we need to take care of fast if we want to make progress.” Liam took the computer and typed. As the image of the Assassin’s logo appeared, he turned the computer toward the screen. A groan was heard from his companion. “Yeah, no one could have guessed, dipshit.” “Language, Elena.” “I am aware of Miss Verflucht temperament, no worries.” “Sorry, your grandeur. I’m just used to Liam company, so my tongue is looser around him.” “As I was saying before Elena interrupted me, one of the sources of our problems are the Assassins. They got too much victories lately. It started with the mess that was Desmond Miles, and since, everything has gone out of hands. Let’s just say that fucking us over - pardon my language - is apparently a family tradition, seeing as his bloodline contains the likes of Altair, Ezio, Edward and Connor, which brings us to our second problem -” Liam abruptly closed to laptop. “Desmond Miles himself.”
“What does that mean, Calmer?” “I am not talking to you, Kaye. Recent developments have finally informed us of what happened to Subject 17′s body...” His voice broke at admitting the blatant disregard of the one law no one could escape: death. “he came back to life.” “How is that possible?” “I have no idea.” Liam admitted, his voice gaining back it’s usual tone. “I suspect it has something to do with one of the Pieces of Eden, but it’s just doubt. I also suspect that if we don’t take care of him fast, everything will crumble on us and we will have to start over from scratches. Everywhere. Our third problem is Gentek. Not Mercer, Gentek, and I insist on that point. They are literally incapable of doing a good job, which resulted in REDLIGHT, which resulted in Greene, which resulted in BLACKLIGHT, which resulted in Mercer, which resulted in Heller. And while Heller is temporarily on our side because literally everyone in Manhattan hates Mercer, he still wants Blackwatch, which means Gentek, which means us, to burn. Gentek also took some... liberties with Blackwatch, and they are currently composed of people who have no right to live in our future utopia.”
“Dismantling Gentek will help us greatly, but we still have the problem of curing Heller and getting rid of Mercer, who, according to Heller, forced him to do the inverse of consuming by making him see some memories apparently gruesome enough to shatter the world of an hardened former-soldier turned BLACKLIGHT Infected. Which means that Mercer is also back in the world of the living. At least, that’s what we think. Our only proof is a message mocking Heller, but we can’t take any risk. Our fourth problem is just potential, but could easily become a danger. I believe you heard of the Bio-Terrorists? That is our future problem. Until now, the founder of the DUP, Brooke Augustine, had the situation in hand, for which I applaud her as it is more and more difficult to find people with the situation in hand since our failure with the Mask of Izanami. However, with the rising of a Bio-Terrorist from the Akomish tribe named Delsin Rowe, things will shake up on that side, and we need to take back control on it.”
“Well, these news are pretty depressing.” “I know and I apologize for that, your Grandeur. But it’s the truth. And I know exactly how we can take control back of everything. We just need an opportunity for all these things.” “Which will be made easier since we essentially made cTos and Blume our bitches!” “Verflucht!” “Calm down Kaye, I know about Miss Verflucht swearing problem. Would you two like to elaborate upon?” “Of course. Elena, wanna explain it to them?” “Of course! I apologize now if I end up swearing. For the Assassins, they barely have any resources! We have more than we need. They won’t be able to make much movement if our new associates are everywhere. Well, there’s the problem of DedSec and Pearce running around, but we can easily get rid of them if needed. We also need to get rid of the Frye’s legacy once and for all, there’s been sighting of one of Jacob Frye’s descendant, even if we thought that the rooks had been decimated by Cross way back then. For Gentek, we first dismantle these fuckers, and we make sure to weaken Mercer by evacuating the most people we can from Manhattan. After that, we wait for the Whiteshadow project to be completed and we kill Mercer with it before administrating it to Heller, curing him at best, killing him at worst. For the Bio-Terrorists, I’ll personally send help to control the situation with Rowe.” “I see, you two really have planned everything! But... what about Miles?”
“I... don’t know what Liam has planned. We just learned about Miles being alive literally 20 minutes ago. Liam, what did you plan for Desmond?” “Oh... that... Well... I still don’t have anything planned yet-” “Of course you don’t-” “Kaye, SHUT THE FUCK U-” “Language, Elena-” “No, no. I want to hear what she has to say-” “EVERYONE.” Everything stopped and everyone shrunk on themselves. While normally gentle, the General’s voice could easily become commanding. Scary even, when compared to their normal intonation. And, as suddenly as it became booming, their voice got back to it’s gentle intonation. “Calm down. As far as I am concerned, Miles is the least of our worries. He is only one. As for our other problems, Mister Calmer,” Liam straightened up. “you have my permission to get rid of Gentek. Miss Verflucht, you have my permission to intervene in Seattle, but only if you also send forces to take care of DedSec.” Elena face lite up. “Like you two said, we’ll just have to wait for the Assassins to make a move to get rid of our old enemies. And don’t you two worry about Mister Miles.” The look on their face darkened. “I’ll take care of it.”
Weichei is a german insult. It means soft egg. Or wimp. Anyway, this pretty much establishes the situation. I’ll probably edit it once Origins get out to include the events that happened in the modern storyline. Until then!

Everything is permitted - Chapter 5
“You are absolutely sure that we can trust this Leona-person of yours?” Altair whispered.
“I’m sure that we can trust Leonardo, yes.”
“Before you knock,” Desmond barely stopped his fist from connecting with the wooden door, “is he an assassin?”
“No, not officially at least. He is more of an inventor, working mostly for the assassins.”
The Syrian pondered a moment, “Very well.” He still seemed not to be overly thrilled with the idea, but he was ready to trust his descendant’s judgement on this matter. He had not done so in the past and learned from his mistakes. When Desmond said they could trust this Leonardo guy, then they could.
Desmond’s fist knocked a few times against the thick wooden door. The sound was dull and loud in the otherwise silent street. The two assassins waited and listened for any sound coming from inside the building, but nothing could be heard.
“Are you sure we are right?” Altair wanted to know, he had taken a few steps back and gazed to the upper windows, hoping to spot something.
“He should be here,” Desmond’s eyebrows were furrowed. Perhaps something had happened to Leonardo, like the time when he had been captured by the templar. He didn’t come much further with his thoughts however, because suddenly a clattering sound came from inside, followed by quick steps on wooden planks. A moment later the door opened.
“Terrible sorry for the delay, I had to,” the artist stopped when his eyes came to rest on Desmond. “Ezio! Do come in and oh, you have brought a friend. Hurry, the guards are very active today.”
Desmond and Altair shared a look, the former shrugged and together, they stepped into the workshop. Immediately Altair’s golden eyes looked in wonder at all the devices and machines the artist and inventor had designed, the Syrian had only spotted things like these with the aid of the cursed apple.
“Excuse the mess, I had no time to clean up. I was not expecting any guests either,” the blonde laughed. “Now, what can I do for you my friend?” There was a bright smile upon his features and Desmond hated himself for the next work.
“Seniore da Vinci,” the artist’s eyebrows furrowed at the unusual address, “but I fear you must have confused me with somebody else.”
The addressed male took a few steps back, there was a bit fear on his features. “I don’t understand.” And it was obvious that he did not like it one bit.
“Now look what you have done Desmond,” Shaun commented, his voice was snappy.
“Just allow us to introduce ourselves.” After a moment the artist nodded hesitantly. Altair had stepped to Desmond’s side. The modern assassin reached up and pushed his hood down, revealing his whole head, he motioned for Altair to do the same. “My name is Desmond Miles and this is Altair Ibn-La’Ahad.”
Intelligent eyes darted between the two time travellers in wonder and recognition slowly appeared on their owner’s features. “You don’t mean...” he was excited.
“Yes, THE Altair Ibn-La’Ahad, writer of the codex pages.” That convinced the artist. Not many knew about the pages, almost none really, and even fewer knew about the author of those pages.
Leonardo gaped openly at the Syrian, who was more than uncomfortable with the whole attention he was given. “And you,” the artist pointed to Desmond, “you must be this mysterious traveller Altair wrote about.” He stepped around the table he had been ‘hiding’ behind and grabbed first Desmond’s hand and shook it, before taking Altair’s. “It is truly an honour meeting two legends. What am I saying, living history.”
Desmond sent his ancestor an amused look. “And you know of us how,” the Syrian wanted to know.
“Oh, right. You wouldn’t know.” He cleared his throat, “At some point you wrote down your knowledge about the apple, the hidden blade, your descendant and much more. You wrote codex pages, with encrypted scripture. It was quite hard to decode, really, which is why Ezio came to me in the first place. It was very interesting what you wrote down, very interesting indeed.” He was still shaking the Syrian’s hand, obviously oblivious to that fact.
“You wrote about me?” Desmond asked shocked and surprised. He was slightly humbled.
“I guess?” Altair had no idea what this was all about.
“Yes,” the modern assassin shook his head and decided to change the topic, “Seniore da Vinci,” he was interrupted.
“Just Leonardo, I insist.”
“Alright, Leonardo, I had hoped you could help us.”
“Of course,” he let go of the Syrian’s hand, who clenched his fingers into a fist a few times. Instead he took Desmond’s hand and began shaking it. “What can I do for you?”
“Altair and I had hoped that you could provide us with shelter and a place to stay.”
“If it’s nothing more,” the blonde male laughed and turned around. “Come, follow me.”
Again the gazes of the two assassins met, once more did Desmond just shrug. He found it all more than hilarious. Altair at least shared his amusement.
They were led up the stairs were Leonardo presented them with a spare guestroom, that was mostly filled with paintings, tools or little constructions. There was also a large bed.
“It is not much and I hope you don’t mind to share...” he looked a little embarrassed.
“We’ll be fine, thank you for your help.” Desmond slightly bowed his head in thanks.
“The honour is all mine. Every comrade of Ezio, is a comrade of me.” With that he gave the two assassins a last smile and vanished back to his work.
“He seems to be a scholar,” it was more of a statement than an actual question.
“He is a genius, he creates things... I cannot describe it,” Desmond took a look around as well.
“I am sooo jealous,” Shaun whined into his ear, again Desmond just ignored him. It was not like the historian was speaking non-stop, which is why the modern assassin allowed a sigh to escape his lips.
“You are tired,” the ever observant Syrian stated.
“Aren’t you?” countered Desmond.
“I am worried,” the older male sat down on the bed, he was quickly joined by his descendant, their elbows almost touching.
“About Leonardo?” his tone sounded amused.
The Syrian shook his head, “About Maria and Malik... and I’m worried about the reason, why I am here.”
“That makes two of us,” he put his hands behind him on the covers and leaned on his arms, gazing up at the ceiling.
“He,” Altair made a movement towards the closed door, “said something about an Ezio...” he trailed off.
Desmond huffed, “Ezio Auditore da Firenze is your descendant and my ancestor... He almost killed a corrupt pope in his life and he had many other accomplishments, he found another apple for example.”
“Another? There is more than one?” he sounded shocked.
“Yes, unfortunately... and the templar from my time need just one to accomplish their crazy plan for total world domination. Up until now, we were always one step ahead, there had been just one incident... it was either my father or the apple. Thankfully all went well, the templar lost this round as well.”
The older man had listened intently, not making a single sound during his companion’s explanation. “As long as you have everything under control...”
“Yeah, that’s so easy when you are stuck in another time, is it?” The way his companion shifted in silence was answer enough. Desmond was not the only one who thought so. “We should rest. Tomorrow will look different.”
Altair hummed, “Do you think we will meet Ezio?”
“Well, I think we can believe that Leonardo will have contacted him by now, if he has already read the message... I don’t know.” With that he laid back down completely.
“I see... move aside then.”
“Nah, too lazy to move,” Desmond had his arms under his head and grinned evilly at the older man.
Altair harrumphed, but decided not to argue, instead he simply climbed over his descendant’s body. At first the modern assassin chuckled in delight, but the sound soon turned to grunts of pain, when the other male literally climbed over his body.
“Serves you right you lazy bastard.”
“Damn son of a hinny,” Desmond shot right back.
“Good night Desmond,” Altair lay on his left side, back facing his descendant.
“Good night Altair,” the modern assassin retorted and he too rested with his back to the other man.
