place a poppy in my hair
Tumblr media
Once upon a time, @bethanyactually sent me this gif by @hucklebucket and said that it looked like they were dancing and that I should write it because I love writing nace dancing. I do love it....and I (finally) did. Written for the @nacediscord Valentine's Vigil event!
One year later, Nancy and Ace attend the Lovers' Vigil together. Read on AO3
“If you’d wear a flower crown again,” he says again, louder, looking up. His eyes burn with an intensity she wasn’t expecting, but it’s not new, the passion with which he does things.
“Oh, uh, I don’t know,” she answers honestly, taking time to smooth the collar she rumpled while considering his question. “I hadn’t really thought about it.”
There’s a hint of something in his eyes, the longing of a year ago that’s been long gone from his gaze. Seeing it, she feels it wrap around her own heart and squeeze.
She’d worn that flower crown for him. So that he would think she was beautiful. A foolish and dangerous game back then, but she’d done it.
She doesn’t have that same need now. Nancy knows he thinks she’s beautiful. He’s told her as much. Called her beautiful when she made an ill-fated attempt to dust Icarus Hall, and when she came home from investigating covered in muck and leaves. Or that morning she stumbled bleary-eyed out of bed with greasy hair and a definite track of drool on her cheek.
“Never mind,” Ace is already hedging, misinterpreting her silence. “It’s stupid.”

The Secret in the Song 💕🎶
Tumblr media
A belated happy Valentine's Day and @nacediscord Valentine's Vigil!
When Nancy is gifted a magical music box, the Drew Crew starts singing—and revealing—their true feelings.
The mop clattered to the floor. Tears streamed down Bess’s face; her mascara smeared under her eyes.
She blinked, as if gaining consciousness. Her eyes widened at the sight of her friends. “Was I… What was that? Was I just singing?”
“Uhhhhh,” said George. “And dancing.”
“Oh, no.” Bess touched her hand to her chest. “Am I possessed?”
“By who,” asked Nick, “Celine Dion?”

Loving all of the gifsets and conversations about “The Danger of the Hopeful Sigil.” Here is my contribution, I could break a glass just to watch it shatter (I’d do anything just to feel with you) - the title is a line from one of Kennedy’s inspo tracks for this episode.
This time I wanted to try Nancy’s POV - she had a lot to take in throughout this episode. Ace was feeding her, and we love him for it!
Tumblr media
GIF courtesy of @nacesource
This story is canon compliant with no post-403 spoilers. It’s rated Teen, and has a bit of spice 🔥:
“Take your shirt off.” She hadn’t needed to ask him in the hallucination, Ace was so eager. This time he looked around like a newly caught animal. She didn’t blame him, this wasn’t the time or place for that. Soon she hoped.
Ace only seemed slightly less anxious when she told him why, looking everywhere but at her as he pulled it off, and stood before her.
Nancy’s eyes went straight to his chest. She had to suppress her smile. Damn. He looked even better than in the hallucination. It was real this time - there was no mistaking the curves and valleys of his muscles, somehow appearing impossibly soft and yet rock hard at the same time.

some left (but the right one stayed) - 3.5k words
It’s not like Ace to be tense, which is how she knows he’s nervous about this evening. Nancy hadn’t planned on still being here when Ace’s parents arrived. In fact she’d come over specifically to help him set-up for their dinner but, well. Time had gotten away from them.
Nancy’s cheeks heat at the memory of Ace’s mouth trailing kisses up the side of her neck. She smoothes her hair again as a reflex.
---
A post-curse spec fic, mostly fluffy, a lil angsty. Ace deals with some parental issues, and Nancy is protective.

I've been losin' much more than anything I've found
Summary: It's the one year anniversary of Kate's passing and Ace comes to visit Nancy at the grave.
Author Notes: In which I just post the thing and try not to think too hard about it...
Prompt included from here and also title is from Take Me Home by By The Coast.
-/-
It had been a year since her mother’s passing. And she doesn’t know how or when that happened, but one day, today, she looked over her shoulder at the calendar and the date was staring back at her, blinking feverishly, waiting for her to notice it.-/-

Ace’s lips. God that kiss. She’s never going to be over that kiss. The way he cupped her cheek and pulled her in close, stole her breath, her heart, her soul. That was a kiss that plunders everything you have to give. That ruins you for all other kisses.

Fandom: Nancy Drew (2019)
Pairing: Nancy/Ace
Tags: AU, meet-cute, drunk-texting, fluff & flirt
Status: COMPLETE
Summary: After a tipsy girls’ night, Nancy drunk-texts the delivery man. She thinks they’re in love now.
Extract:
"Jesus bloody Christ, where's the pizza?" Bess moans loudly, pretending to clutch at her stomach with a grimace. "I'm starving."
George glares at her. "You emptied half the chips bowl all on your own," she scolds her. "And half the bottle of wine. Maybe that's the problem."
Bess shakes her head, waggling her finger at her. "Nonsense. Wine is grape juice, I'm just being healthy and getting my five fruits and veggies a day." Turning to Nancy, she pulls the puppy eyes and trembling lip. "But grape juice will not sustain me, Nance. It simply won't."
Nancy resists the urge to laugh. Grabbing her phone, she checks the food delivery app and follows the little bike trailing on the screen: "It says that Ace is on his way. Should be here any minute now."
"Ace?" George says, wrinkling her nose. "Is that a dude or a dog?"

“Nancy Drew And The Case Of The Lost Memories,” she jokes. Or: Nancy gets into Cornell. Six years later she’s living in Washington D.C. and working for the FBI. On a Christmas trip home to see dads Ryan and Carson, she runs her car off the road and ends up ten years in the future with two kids, a wedding ring on her finger, and a husband from a past she was trying to forget.
Chapter One.

all these people think love's for show (but I would die for you in secret)
Tumblr media
Over a year in the making and it's finally here!!!! Thank you @flythesail for this gorgeous edit - it is the most special thing to me ❤️ Without further ado, let's get these babies (fake) hitched!
Getting in after being waitlisted, Nancy and Ace decide to go to Columbia...together. Read on AO3
Her head is spinning as she sinks into a chair at the kitchen table. Ace’s points are valid—a better chance at living with him and not some random stranger, saving money.
Having a piece of home within reach.
Bess is already rambling about plans—move-in dates and decorating ideas, how perfect this is for them. But when Nancy finally looks up it’s Ace’s eyes she finds, glued to her face.
“What do you think, Nance?”
Nancy blushes at the nickname, ducking to hide her face and pretending to study her phone. No one calls her that, save Ryan letting it slip a few times. It always warms her heart, hearing how easily it slides from his mouth like he does with Luce. It makes her feel connected. Ace must have picked up on the habit.
“The idea has merit,” she says finally. Normally she has a thousand thoughts, follow-up questions three deep, protests prepared for ideas not even proposed yet. But here she comes up empty. It’s insane to be sure, but it also feels easy, right.
It also feels like she’s teetering on the edge of something, the feeling that a new mystery gives her, begging her to dive in and see what it’s all about. That feeling she’s been craving since defeating Temperance. Nancy feels a sly smile spread across her face before she can stop it. “Documentation, you said?”
Ace grins in reply. “Nancy Drew, will you marry me?”

The Stars Lead You Home
The room was so quiet Nancy knew she could have heard a pin drop.
Maybe she'd stopped breathing.
Ace came closer, and Nancy didn’t bother stepping back. She knew she should but here they were, drawn together.
"The hallucination," he said. "The night at the veil."
There was little he didn’t know after the sigil’s effect. Little of her mind was hers alone.
After all this time, she thought Ace would put the pieces together sooner.
Read on ao3: The sigil from their curse-breaking attempt gives Nancy and Ace shared dreams.

It was (mostly) quiet on the Nancy Drew set this week. Could it be it that much of what they filmed was super spoilery? Friday especially was quiet with many ppl (Maddison, Leah, Riley, Michael Sangalang) enjoying offset activities. As always, I hope for a Nace-centric scene being shot (closed set would be even better!)!!
UPDATE: Of course right after I posted this blog there was a fab set photo posted by Maddison featuring an adorable Tunji and Leah. Love Tunji’s expression at Leah’s antics, it’s so Nick and George.
Tumblr media
There were a few more tidbits throughout the week, especially from the crew, so as promised I’m sharing them here in case you missed them.
Our favorite DP Nick Thomas shared some more beautiful photos from the (you guessed it) woods set this week in his stories. This one in particular gives a glimpse of some of the cast if you squint real hard (bottom right corner).
Tumblr media
AD Michael Sangalang and Steadicam operator Shaoyun Wang each posted set pics hinting at a university setting. George’s school, perhaps? And yes, I looked up Clifton University and couldn’t find one in Vancouver or Maine so have concluded it’s a fictitious name (I know, I’m obsessive). Pretty sure this is for Ep. 5.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Everyone’s favorite ND director, Larry Teng, is in town to prep for directing Episode 6 (he’s also directing Ep. 8). He gave the first of what I hope is many hints and BTS content on Twitter. Here’s hoping he’s talking about the big curse breaking episode!
Tumblr media
On the cast front, we saw Maddison with gorgeous new highlights, and Kennedy (the best show lead ever) sharing fan art and giving us a glimpse of an Ep. 5 fit (I’m thinking this brown cardigan and matching scarf go under the blazer we saw in last Friday’s woodsy shenanigans). Kennedy’s dad posted a cute family pic, and Kennedy shared another musical hint about the state of Nace from Leah in the form of singer Jensen McRae, and then fangirled when Jensen responded. Celebrities, they’re fans, too!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I have to mention Leah Lewis’s appearance at Disney’s D23 on Friday and the announcement that she is STARRING in Pixar’s Elemental! She’s plays a fiery character named Ember, so apt. So happy for her, well deserved!!
Tumblr media
On the ND fan fic front, I’m not publishing a new chapter of The Space Between this week. I am usually ahead 1-2 chapters but I managed to catch up and needed a little more time to get Chapter 7 right. It’s in a great place now (hint - Nancy and Ace are testing a loophole with the curse and it’s 🔥), so look for it next week. Chapter 1-6 are up if you haven’t read it or need to catch up.
In the meantime, I HIGHLY recommend LikesToSolveThePuzzle’s latest VERY NSFW chapter of The Interrogation Game. It’s insanely hot, takes place on a plane where Nancy and Ace are NOT happy with each other 🥵, and features a cameo from Tamura. I won’t say anymore but I promise it’s worth the read!!
Bye for now and thanks for reading! Let me know your favorite fanfic so I can feature it here in future!

the choiceless hope in grief
Words: 5574 Rating: Teen And Up Audiences Relationships: Nancy Drew/Ace Playlist: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/6ADEUQYkiUJpOzL6otEKjU Read on AO3: https://archiveofourown.org/works/39229086 Summary:
Ace goes missing. Luckily, he turns up. Unfortunately, it’s as a ghost. Nancy refuses to take that for an answer.
---
Nancy’s the only one in the Claw when he shows up.
It’s stupidly late, is the reason why, nearing four in the morning. She’s perched on a barstool, hunched over the counter, the blue light of her laptop burning her eyes in the otherwise dark room. She hadn’t bothered to turn on a light before she sat there, back when it was still daylight, and she hasn’t gotten up since.
There’s no time for anything like that. No time to waste. No time to do anything but scour the internet, try to dig up clues, look for any sign or answer or idea.
Because she has to find Ace.
She has to. She will. Failure is not an option.
Ace has been missing for four days, eleven hours, and thirteen minutes, give or take. But who’s counting?
She doesn’t even know why. Things have been quiet, lately, for Horseshoe Bay. They haven’t been in direct mortal peril in months, aside from the typical intermittent brushes with ghosts and ghouls and cursed objects. Temperance has been quiet, perhaps suspiciously so, but Nancy has been trying to count her blessings and not borrow trouble on that account.
And then, one day, Ace just…didn’t show up for work.
While it was certainly less of a characteristic Ace move than a common Nancy pastime, the crew didn’t immediately jump to any worst-case scenarios.
Nancy wishes she had. She’s usually so ready with a pessimistic wariness, a distrust of the calm between storms that has probably saved her life as many times as it has damaged her relationships. Damn her for letting that armor slip away. Damn her for trusting that things could be better.
Damn her for trusting blindly that Ace would always be here, by her side.
Now he’s gone and she’s slowly losing her mind, burying herself deeper and deeper in research and searching and hoping and praying.
She has to find him. Like he’d find her.
“Nancy,” someone says from behind her, somewhere between exhaustion and relief, and for a split second she assumes it’s Nick come to chastise her for not sleeping. Then she registers the voice.
She’s off the stool so fast it’s a wonder she doesn’t fall and break her neck, and words fail her for a moment as she stares, lips parting slightly, at the one person in the world she wants to see more than anyone else.
She didn’t realize no one had bothered to lock the door on their way out, and Nick had promised George he’d fix that broken bell weeks ago, but neither of those oversights are important now, when Ace is standing in front of her, miraculously returned.
“Ace,” she breathes, tears springing to her eyes, her feet moving before her brain actually remembers to tell them to.
“Nancy, no, wait, I—”
But she’s already there, already moving to throw her arms around him, cling tight, hold him close and feel his heartbeat and know he’s okay.
And she goes through him.
At first, she doesn’t understand what’s happened. She stumbles, barely manages to right herself before hitting either the floor or the booth she’s aimed at.
Blinking away the confusion and straightening back up, she turns to see Ace watching her, eyes filled with that same haunting look he had when she confronted him about spying for McGinnis—guilt and grief and apology and sorrow all mixed and bleeding into her heart. He looks like he wants to move towards her. His hands twitch like he wants to reach out and touch her arm. But he doesn’t.
“I—” he says. “I don’t know what happened. I wanted to ease you into it, but I didn’t know how—and—”
She stares at him wide-eyed, fear crackling in her veins and crawling up her throat, silently pleading with him not to say it, begging herself to wake up from whatever nightmare she’s fallen into.
His voice is hoarse and halting when he speaks again.
“Nancy, I think I’m a ghost.”

Is there a line that I could just go cross?
Summary: It’s Ryan’s birthday- there’s a party - and both Nancy and Ace are invited. Spoilers in canon for up to 4x03.
Author Notes: Inspired by the Meredith/Derek scene in Grey’s Anatomy 2x27 “you think I want to look at you…”
Title from evermore by Taylor Swift

when it’s too heavy to carry, remember this moment with me (they say love is a journey), ch.3
Tumblr media
Fandom: Nancy Drew (2019)
Pairing: Nancy/Ace
Tags: Post s3 finale, undercover as a married couple, fake/pretend relationship, case fic, haunting, curse-era, angst, mutual pining
Status: in progress
Summary: Nancy and Ace pose as a married couple to investigate a haunting, after Nancy’s been ignoring him for a month to protect him.
Extract:
Back at his apartment, it'd been their almost-kiss that set off the alarm; in the car, it'd been the tenderness, the obvious love Ace couldn't hide behind any pretense. Their marriage may be fake, but the reason why he gave her this ring is not, the promise that he wants to do this again someday so very clear. Is this the limit they can't dance around or risk tiptoeing? Is the intimacy linked to romantic love forbidden to them, each moment when her soul is reminded of the beauty of the world by his one step too far? Could it be that the love they have beyond all that, a love that transcends romance and desire - a love that wills the good of another, unconditional, affectionate and loyal and virtuous - is their safe haven?
