“I am painting your nails” he said in a matter of fact way

“You’re making it messy dude” I said shaking my head

“You act like I do this shit everyday. Obviously it’s going to be messy” he said giving me a dirty look

“Paint the fucking nail idiot” I said smacking him with my other hand

“I am painting the fucking nail” he said pointing at my hand

“You’re painting 90% skin and 10% nail” I said laughing

“This shit is hard, and your nail beds are short” he said rolling his eyes

“Hey don’t come for my nail beds because you’re a shitty nail tech” I said sucking my teeth

“I clean the edges once I’m done” he said going back to painting my ring finger

Chris painted my other hand and did a little bit of a better job.

“You’re so lucky I’m madly in love with you because these look awful” I replied laughing

“Hey be nice….” He said closing the nail polish bottle

“I painted yours so nicely” I said looking at his nails that are the same shade as mine

“Well you always paint your nails, so you have an advantage there” he said ruffling my hair

“Okay that’s true” I said nodding my head

“Now we have matching nails” he said clapping his hands together like a happy child

“More like matching skin…dude you have to clean this before it dries fully” I said looking at him

“Ughh fine” he said sitting back down

Chris gently cleaned my stained skin to perfect his work, and actually his paint job wasn’t terrible.

“See after you clean it, it’s not so bad” he said throwing the cotton balls out

“Yeah not terrible” I said looking at my nails

“I couldn’t be a nail tech though” he said looking at them and laughing

“Yeah no you’d be awful, but hey it’s the thought that counts” I said giving him a smile

“Thanks for the support babe” he said planting a kiss on my lips

“Of course my love” I said blowing on my nails to let them dry

“Want to do my toes” I said wiggling my brows

“Fuck no do not put your feet next to me” he said smacking my legs away

“You don’t act that way when you suck on my toes in bed” I said giggling

“I have never sucked your toes in bed you weirdo” he replied laughing

“I know” I said looking down with a sad face

“Change the face” he said squeezing my leg

“Maybe if you give me a pedicure you’d want to suck my toes” I said sighing

The last of the Mithalas writing (unless I missed any, feel free to check if you want)

In the room with Mithala himself, "you have failed me, your hunger will consume you, feast on the flesh of your own children". I think the "me" in this statement is Creator. All of this came true. The failure is probably Mithala failing to stop his priests (the cultists I mention in earlier posts, I will keep referring to them as cultists because it's funny) from draining his soul to gain immortality. Thankfully, it seems as if Naija was able to kill them.

"Beyond death we hide" is probably the cultists. They did have the ability to slip between being corporeal and being a spirit.

"Rule Mithalas" is confusing.there's not much, if any, context for it. Maybe it's the cultists thinking they're the ones truly in charge? Mithalas supposedly spoke through them. Or maybe it refers to the Mithalan monarchy?

For me personally it's been a long time since I was really excited for something star wars was coming out with. Mostly because I'm a prequel girlie so anything outside that is difficult for me to get into. Andor I've been hyped for since right before it came out. Totj I was thrilled with the trailer but the actual show was kind of disappointing. It was a combination of half the episodes not being about a character I personally care about (not automatically a bad thing, I'm just not interested in dooku) and racism. But what else is new.

Liam neeson was on the series and all I know or care about wrt to him is the fact that he wanted to kill a random Black person. And then we get a Black queer woman being whitewashed and retconned to be some presumably het white girl. And andor, which otherwise has been doing a great job politically, has absolutely dropped the ball on their Black characters.

There's the acolyte show coming out relatively soon but I'm not holding my breath, as beautiful as the cast is.

And I know it's stupid to wait or ask for or demand some actually halfway decent rep for Black people/Africans that doesn't start and end with us being fascists and then being killed or written off the show. I know that rep is rarely praxis and I know that in some ways this is a "do it myself" situation. But by God there's never seeing Black people and then seeing them but they just don't last.

And I try my best with my culture and background and my OCs, but I can only do so much. I don't have the stamina to write the level of detail I want to or need to to really get across the fact that my OCs are space!Nigerians or space!Afams or anything like that. And most of the time when I do do that it just ends up being a Naija 101 or a Black Folks Explainer which I don't like.

Like idk goddamn my patience has already been running on fumes but the creative forces at LFL are really airing out the tank now.

A couple of weeks ago I drafted this article, really just musing at what compelled me to launch Oori Data LLC. My colleagues quietly used it to launch our blog last week while I was in Dubai for the GITEX DevSlam. It was then a neat confluence sitting with Emeka Okoye, who was with me experiencing some of those formative computing moments in the 80s, which I mention in the post. Also there were some accomplished Nigerian developers of a more recent vintage, such as Aisha Bello. I guess having lived it, I don't often reflect on how our Naija computing heritage is far from strictly a new matter. I should certainly write more on the topic.

To Japa or Not! (A Christian Naija Girl's Perspective)

"Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take." Proverbs 3:5-6 NLT) If you ask many young, determined Naija persons what is on their mind now, their almost immediate response is how to "japa"! And to be honest, I don't blame them.  Every talented and focused individual should at least have a working system that supports and enables them to fulfil their dreams, not frustrate them and make things difficult for them. It's merely logical for everyone in the right frame of mind to find better pastures. Every farmer knows that the type of crop you want to plant determines the kind of soil you choose which in turn determines your harvest amongst other climatic conditions. Right now, it would seem to many Nigerians that Nigeria is an arid, unproductive land. Hence, the urgent need to "japa" to give them an enabling environment to be "fruitful and multiply". I can't even count the number of my colleagues that relocated last year and the ones that already have plans in motion to leave this year. The other day, I was on the phone with a very close friend and what summed up our discussion that night was how we could "japa" and leave this supposed mess of a country. It's not even just about greener pastures anymore, it's also about security. People want to be able to have peace of mind and to be able to celebrate the holidays without being shot at by policemen. They just want to make their honest living without being harassed or accused of being yahoo boys.  We want to be able to be in our houses and to travel when we need to without the fear of being kidnapped. We want a stable economy where even the poor man is catered for. These are the issues. However, even before that call, I have been pondering on this whole "japa matter" which has become a fad and I have been asking myself some questions which I am going to throw at you. Why exactly do you want to japa? Is it because everyone else is leaving? Have you even discovered your purpose? Do you ever wonder why international schools ask you to write a statement of purpose? It's so that you can prove how that degree is relevant to your career and life goals (short-term and long-term).  Can you categorically demonstrate how moving abroad is going to influence your goals positively? Do you even have a life map? Trust me, if you're purposeless in Nigeria, you're going to be purposeless wherever you go. You will just be going with the flow. You will keep trying out things just because everyone you know is doing it. Have you asked God what He would have you do at this juncture? For I  remember Isaac wanting to leave Canaan for Egypt because there was a famine in the land. This was an adequate thing to do because that was the exact thing his father Abraham had done when he encountered the same dilemma. But God specifically told Isaac to remain in Canaan. Thank goodness, Isaac obeyed. Isaac planted crops in that land and the same year reaped a hundredfold because the LORD blessed him. The man became rich, and his wealth continued to grow until he became very wealthy (Genesis 26:12). The people of the land became envious of him and sent him away because of how enormously blessed he was by God. Our success lies in our ability to hear what God is saying per time and our obedience to what He has told us. It is the blessing of the Lord that makes rich without adding sorrow. This is not to discourage you from your japa mission but to help you make an informed decision. What if you were destined to make it in Nigeria? For some of us, our first instinct is to run when confronted with a challenge. What if we've been called to face this problem and deal with it headlong though? If we all leave, who will make the country work? Even if you've got it all figured out, have you asked God what His will for you is? Just know that whether God gives you green lights or red lights, it's all for the best. In God's will abides our provision. In The Right Brain God, by Michael Faust, it says "Anyone can jump on a bandwagon...You have to find a cause and commit yourself fully.” That’s the first step in giving meaning to your life. Therefore, to japa or not, is at your discretion; the choice and all that comes with it. Regardless, be intentional.  Discern and understand the objective and mission of relocating. Average hours of sleep: What is sleep? Just kidding, I get around 6-8 hours when I make myself go to bed on time. If not and I stay up late, I get maybe 4 hours before I’m up with the kids.

Instruments: I sing. I’m rusty as hell but I can play the violin too

What I’m wearing: Cheeta print cami, black sweats, Harry Potter socks, grey knit slippers and a hot pink bonnet

Dream trip: I have a list of places I wanna go (I’ll give you three). Ashore-cho, Japan ~ Acadia National Park, Maine ~ New Plymouth, New Zealand...They all just look really freaking pretty
