Jeppe Madsen Ohlsen (May 18, 1891 - 1948) was a largely autodidact Danish painter (he did study in Norway with Christian Krohg).

He painted strange scenes from his hometown Christiansfeld which had an unusual religious community of Moravian Brothers (Herrnhut Brethren) in a style that mixed Naivism, Symbolism and Magcal Realism.

Fun fuckinh fact abt art. Artists who reach a certain level will often begin to look for ways to replicate the look/feel of art by someone who doesn't draw often/"is bad at it" (i dont think so). I personally look a lot at more inexperienced art (down 2 looking at just childrens art bc it is so dope) bc u begin 2 understand that there is smth just so fucking special and beautiful about it. As in, it looks good.

A prime example of this is artists using more challenging brushes/techniques (there are so many janky-look brushes on csp store), they try styles like "teen who draws anime" and " stylization to the point of naivism" and processess like "im jusy gonna scribble here and draw smth around it bcs itll look disproportionate in a cool way"

I say all this 2 say that pls start drawing if u feel like youd enjoy it but havent yet. A lot of artists will look at ur work like wow i wish i had what u have. Not that thats the point of doing art, more so a reminder 2 enjoy the process.

I love naivism and outsider art man I love indulgent self-inserts and the author's thinly veiled fetish, I love grimdark edginess and infinite powercreep, I love excuse plots that only exist to guide the watcher from sakuga to sakuga, I love when the art has a vulnerable earnestness to it, when you can tell they love what they made, art for the sake of art. that's what it's all about
