my sibling is teaching me to crochet and i think the amount of rage i've generated towards tiny metal hooks and tangles of yarn has allowed my brain to see through the white noise of the universe and arrive at some unequivocal truths
The four of swords is a card about contemplation, meditation, ‘a great focus in life’. Reversed it can be stagnation, precaution, testament. So I decided upon the most patient Lorre character of all: professor Sturm from Nancy Steele is Missing. This character quietly observed his celmate, Dannie, and remembered every little piece of information he let slip from his mouth. Biding his time and sitting out his sentence for seventeen years (!), he waited for the moment he could get out and claim the reward for revealing where the missing daughter really was. In the original card, three swords hang from the wall, and the fourth one lies under a sleeping knight, here, they are the bars in the prison window, and the shiv Sturm is holding in his hand, contemplating about what he is to do with Dannie.
‘When I came here, they pushed me around too, you know. But now, they no longer do.’
In 75 eye-popping pairings of designer pieces and the artworks that inspired them, this stylish book reveals the art behind coveted fashion designs.
Long before “collabs” became a buzzword, artists influenced every aspect of the fashion world. This approachable collection compares fashion and art side-by-side to highlight a variety of relationships: inspiration, collaboration, and artists working to create their own fashion or fashion photography.
Art X Fashion introduces readers to designers like Coco Chanel and Elsa Schiaparelli, who famously worked with artists like Picasso and Dalí in the early twentieth century, as well as to such iconic fashion moments as Yves Saint Laurent’s 1965 homage to Piet Mondrian. Art and fashion pairings including John Galliano (inspired by Tutankhamun’s death mask, Arcimboldo, Gustav Klimt, and Hokusai), Guo Pei (inspired by Velázquez), Margiela (inspired by Gaugin), and Iris Van Herpen (inspired by Paul Delvaux), reveal surprising connections. Projects by street artists like Keith Haring and Kaws introduce the era of collaborations, which saw artists such as Yayoi Kusama and Takashi Murakami work with Louis Vuitton. More recent collaborations include Raf Simons with Sterling Ruby and Kerby Jean-Raymond with Derrick Adams. Chapters on striking purses and other accessories designed by artists, and artists creating in fashion—including Cindy Sherman, William Wegman, and John Baldessari—round out this fresh and delightful take on fashion design.
Well, that was fast work! Nancy is keen to get back to work as soon as possible, so if Andrew - their firstborn - is not to be an only child, there's no time to waste.
What a sweetie!
Well, except when he's grizzling.
Andrew's toddler stats:

Dad knows how to fix the grizzles.
What they're putting in kids' books these days seems to be a bit of a shocker though.
The army was very much a job of convenience, and soon after completing his basic training, Steve is fortunate to find himself an opening in his dream career instead.
Nancy is at home alone when Andrew's little brother Alisdair makes his appearance. He has his dad's striking grey eyes.
(Yeah, I seem to be going with a bit of a Scottish theme with the baby names, and I have no idea why!)
Nancy hasn't had much time for socialising lately, so she's very glad to catch up with her old friend Margaret.
Although perhaps the tiredness that comes from caring for two under-twos is making her especially irritable at the moment.
Alisdair is bit of a poppet too.

They might be a pair of little meanies (Andrew especially), but these two brothers certainly love each other!
With two active youngsters, the cramped, impersonal apartment is starting to feel rather confined, Perhaps it's time to start looking for a family home, where the boys can have a bit more room to run and play?
