TIL (from jeopardy haha) that people can have more than one spleen, and if the main spleen is removed, the accessory spleen can end up growing and functioning.
i think itd be funny if tim drake gets his main spleen removed after being stabbed but finds out he's part of the 16% that has an extra one, and he uses it as some sort of witty gotcha against ra's haha.

what im saying is it doesnt matter how cool combos and movement and cancels and it doesnt matter how much intuitive or accessible anything is if your fighting game doesnt have a loveable cast of characters. people will attempt to play dogshit old games if they have someone they like in it and maybe they’ll keep on playing if it just so happens to be fun

Dick and Damian bond over being different to their family.
Jason and Stephanie and Duke were born into the deepest, darkest corners of Gotham, while Tim and Bruce were thrust into galas and secrets and old-but-new money.
But they're all Gothamites at their core. They look up into the gloomy sky and feel at peace, they look down and feel calm, they walk around with the ache of Gotham in their blood, recognized or not.
Damian is half Pakistani. (Nanda Parbat (where the League of Assassins is set) is based on Nanga Parbat, the westernmost major peak of the Himalayas. While Gotham City is traditionally depicted as being located in the U.S. state of New Jersey. (Its look and atmosphere was mainly influenced by New York City, and Bill Finger said that he chose the name "Gotham", and not New York, so that all readers in any city could identify with it.) )
Dick is Romani. (In most cases, he's depicted as either a quarter or half Romani, but no matter how little, he IS Romani. I'm not entirely sure which subgroup he is (i'm not sure if subgroup is the right word, sorry), but according to Wikipedia its a Indo-Aryan ethnic group which most likely originated in India, but then they migrated into Europe so there's so many possible different places he could be from. I'm not entirely sure how this all actually works, so I don't know if theorizing which specific country/subgroup matters or not.)
Please note that I'm not talking skin colour in this post. Damian (in most cases) is depicted with tan/light brown skin, but Dick is almost always as white as the others. The only person (of my knowledge) in the batfam who is always shown as coloured is Duke. But he's not in this post because he is very much a Gothamite, regardless of his skin colour.
This is because skin colour does not entirely depend on the country you're from. I am white, and my friend is brown, but we are both fully Portuguese because all four of our parents are from Portugal.
I was raised in England, and I feel a strangeness whenever I am with my British friends because despite having the same skin colour, living in the same country, speaking the same language, i am different. But my friends difference is both inward and outward, if that makes sense.
I made this post because as someone who has recently realized this difference i feel, i want these fictional characters to feel it too.
So, sorry for the ramble, but I just want more fanfics where these characters take their difference (I don't know if race or ethnicity is the right word, but by difference I mean the fact that they are not fully Americans) and embrace it, whether they do it together or separately.
Thanks for coming to my ted talk.

"So he pasted on a stoic expression and gave a simple "No.""
Here's where we differentiated because I shifted to Damian's POV and kinda forced the matter. So we could Get Damian's perspective on Danny's cover." After that was the stuff I couldn't figure out because of this spot right here! Danny's answer had to be "no" the misunderstanding doesn't sink as well if it doesn't.
The memory of tests, the pre-established no-codewords *chef's kiss* because it is always going to be safer for Danny to make contact in some other way. With invisibility and intangiblity even more so.
Closing the box cutter like that, perfect. Danny knows better than to attempt to rival Damian, especially when he's under the assumption that Damian is still acting heir. Oof I can't think of any reason getting called back wouldn't spell trouble.
I love the slight implication with the evil billionaires list and tuckers unspoken question, to me it reads like Lex has also tried to clone Phantom. Which I don't think was intended but, it tracks! He totally would!
Tim's questions, Danny looking to Damian for orders. Yes. Just yes, perfection, right there in front of my face but the question didn't even occur to me. Wonderful.
Everything that follows, YOUR TAGS they look like my notes we were on the same wavelength I swear!
Do you have plans to keep going with this? Can we collab if you do?
See I couldn't bring myself to use the Damian POV because in my mind his internal dialogue would just be. Static.
Like, yes, he's a highly trained assassin. And idk too much about batman timeline but I've seen stuff about how he's had character growth and gotten better about things over time. If he came to them at 10 and he's 16 now, that's 6 years for his personal growth. Learning to care about people again.
But outside of missions the batfam are all hot garbage and personal interaction, and I imagine Damian's had enough growth by this point to get to the "people matter to me as more than murder tools/mission tolls" idea, but without any of the understanding of how to deal without a given context.
And with Danny, the context has always been "avoid/ignore."
Danny isn't a classmate. He isn't one of his adopted brothers that he has learned how to squabble/get along with over time. And, most of all, whatever Danny might believe, he is not a League member. Which leaves Damian with no framework for how to deal with him.
Damian had/has a hard enough time getting over his League training, how does he help Danny get over his? Especially when 10 years of it would have been training he did to himself.
How does he interact with someone he was raised to hold at arms-length^2?
So I figured doing his POV would be too difficult because I couldn't think of much beyond static, panicked rambling, and several mock-conversations on how to break it to Danny that the League is gone without him going off on a suicide mission against the coup-people.
Which is kind of a shame, because you could fit a lot of angst in ala grief for Danny's seemingly emotionless state and guilt for forgetting him (which, not Damian's fault the League just sucks, but people don't stop blaming themselves for things just because they know they don't need to. Emotions be cray).
"Oof I can't think of any reason getting called back wouldn't spell trouble"
idk why but this made me think of an AU version where Damian intercepted the letter but the League actually was calling Danny back at the time (no coup), so they try to find him in Nanda Parbat only to find the (fake) dead body to the resulting tune of: Batfam Grief Rampage Time (TM). Except the League called him back because they found out what he was leaving out of his reports (about the portal & tech, not about him being a halfa) so when the batfam go to Amity to talk to the Fenton's about their "dead" son Amity is walled off w/an anti-liminal shield & armed to the teeth waiting for assassins (bc u know the whole town is in danger of being conscripted after bathing in portal radiation for so long. Call that "League of Assassins Park" at that point - sans the whole cult aspect. Unless u count the Phantom Phans).
"I love the slight implication with the evil billionaires list and tuckers unspoken question, to me it reads like Lex has also tried to clone Phantom. Which I don't think was intended but, it tracks! He totally would!"
You know that really wasn't the implication I was going for, but I could totally see Lex trying to clone Phantom. Maybe he heard about the whole overshadowing thing and was like "yo loyal clone to control the actual superman is way better than a second superman that could (did) go rogue! And this one can even be a (former) human!!!"
"Tim's questions, Danny looking to Damian for orders. Yes. Just yes, perfection, right there in front of my face but the question didn't even occur to me. Wonderful."
Am basking in the positive feedback like a lizard in the sun thanks ☀️🦎🥰
"Do you have plans to keep going with this? Can we collab if you do?"
I thought about making a follow-up, but the stuff others tagged on kinda satisfied the brain itch for me.
But! I could totally see this turning into a fully fleshed-out fic, and I think I'd enjoy writing for it, so if you want to make it happen I'd be happy to collab :)

you mind sharing you thoughts on dc x genshin? maybe some gunbug as well 👀?
I have two major genshin x dc aus
My archon bats au
And my jaime gets transported into teyvat au
With some ramblings about jason and jaime playing genshin together thrown in lmao
My archon bats au is my biggest one
This is going to be Long
This is all of the art that ive done for the archon bats au recently, i also posted abt it earlier but eh, beams it down
I also messed around with some of their titles
ALSO their "god names" are their vigilante names basically
Like dick would be referred to as nightwing in worship by the church of mondstat
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anemo archon dick because of the whole performing aspect as well as yk FLYING graysons, i had to
Also he can save people from falling now hehe
Geo archon jason bc zhongli was brutal during the archon war
Electro archon talia bc the ideals of eternity feels very much like something that talia would lean towards, and then that leads to damian as wanderer, which is very OW I love it so much
Lil baby duke which i partially pulled from batwheels as the dendro archon, he's the first one i thought of and nahida has a thing about analogies and what's analogies but poetry
Tim as furina is just AAA gives me life, he's Red Robin's humanity and has to play the part of being a god and instead of being behind the camera, he's in front of it, and he's hoping that none of the thousand words that a picture is worth sees through him
Bruce as the hydro dragon sovereign is kinda a no brainer bc he's all JUSTICE and impartiality and also the melusines are his CHILDREN istg he cannot stop being a parent
The archon quests would pretty much play the major beats the same, but the small details would change, like dick doing trapieze and aerial stunts instead of being a bard like venti, or jason being careful with his spending and paying attention to how much mora he uses and makes, or inazuma being based off nanda parbat
ANYWAYS onto my jaime genshin au
Basically during a fight he gets thrown through a portal to teyvat with no way out on his end
Khaji is dormant for a while, so he's mostly on his own
He settles into liyue and gets a primary job as yanfei's law partner and does odd jobs just for extra mora on the side
He travels sometimes, but he can be content a little, given that he gets a grasp on how teyvat works and how theres not really targetted dimensional travel
He gets a vision, his ambition of practicing law carrying over, and he would basically be like a anemo claymore yanfei, if that makes sense, if he were in the game his stacks would carry over and become yanfei's stacks if that would even work idk im just brainrotting
He's kinda an oddity but not really as known as a traveler as much as, well, the Traveler
He's just vibing and surviving until the justice league notice and pinpoint him and collect him jaja
Onto my gunbug genshin stuff
Jaime's main team is cyno, yanfei, chevrus, and lisa, and in coop it's just cyno and yanfei
Jason's main team is navia, nahida, kokomi, and hu tao, in coop it's chevrus and hu tao
Half the time jason brute forces with just navia and since he has her built it works
Jason goes to jaime's world while jaime's farming scarabs and he just hears gunshots as jason mows down sumpter beasts while farming meat bc surprise, jason loves cooking in genshin
Jason's favorite area is flueve sindre and jaime's favorite is between port ormos and chenyu vale
They absolutely take the boat rides in chenyu vale together in coop
Its law
Jason is a dramatic mf and whenever he has coop turned on he changes his pfp and card and signature to be a character and then just sits at a place where the character frequents
Like sitting chevrus at a bar in fleuve ceandre
Or navia in Poisson
Gunbug in general is just AA they're so jsjsj
Ive seen jason as a social worker and jason as a social worker with jaime as a lawyer is so AAAA
Jason and jaime stumbling into their shared apartment after patrol and jaime cusses him out in spanish while patching him up bc jaime has a healing factor and jason doesnt but acts like he does and it is infuriating JASON BENDITO SEA DIOS
Like jason will STEP IN FRONT OF JAIME AND TAKE THE HIT FOR HIM
Jason is turning jaime grey jajaja
Tysm for the ask im currently going feral

Jameson. Screaming. I leave you to fill in the rest.
CW: Pet whump, whipping, implied noncon (fade to black), defiant whumpee
By the time their arms start to tire, his screams have gone hoarse, and they laugh at him and bark like seals to mock what little sound he can still made. The crowd of them, men who reek like the cheap beer they drink until it comes out of their pores with their sweat.
They've bent him over a table, ankles tied to the legs so he's up on his toes, leg muscles strained and forced straight for the first time in... days? Weeks? His wrists are somewhere above his head, his shoulder blades and ass digging into rough wood.
They bring the folded-over belt down on his thighs until the white flashes of pain blend with the colors behind his eyelids and the overwhelming blend of their voices on his tongue, until it's one long blazing agony wiping out all thought.
When they are done with his thighs, they move on to his hips. Each blow rains down and his body jerks in response, rattling the table as he shrieks. The cords in his neck stand out, head thrown back.
He's drowning in his own sweat, bathed in it. Hair sticks to his neck. There's no pleasure in being whipped like this.
When one of them moves to open his mouth and coos that he's a pretty little slut, he still has enough of a mind to jerk his head away, spit, and snarl, "Fuck you," in the gravel-pebble remains of his voice.
Brute punches him, his head snapping back, knocking into the table he's tied down to. He goes limp, wishing you really got to see stars when you took a blow like this.
This time when someone grabs his jaw, it hangs open, limp. Pain throbs up his legs and across his abdomen, through his head. Brute smacks a flat palm to his stomach, already a blistered red from that belt and too-hot candle wax.
Someone unties his ankles. No one moves to do the same to his hands. He groans, trying to kick out only to have Brute grab his leg and force it up, bent at the knee, heel to the back of his thigh.
He tries to scream as his muscles shriek their own agonized protest, but only a hiss comes out. Rope wraps around, holds his leg in place. They repeat the actions with the other leg, too. He feels like his ass is halfway off the fucking table and he knows what happens next.
He goes a little limp.
At least once they've all had a turn, he can crawl back to his room, curl up on his mattress, and cry until he sleeps.
"You won the game tonight," Brute says to someone else, magnanimous. He gestures at the pet, stretched and bent and twisted for them, dazed eyes struggling to focus, to know who to hate most. "You get first dibs."
Right. The violence was just the opening number. Now the real act comes on stage.
Some man steps forward, a regular player. He grins down at the pet. "Let me get between those legs." Once he speaks, the pet recognizes his voice from hours spent kneeling under the poker table.
"I'm gonna split you in fucking half," the man whispers, almost tenderly, but he can't say it with half the affection and playful promising threat that Nanda did.
The pet's eyes flutter shut before he has to watch the zipper come down.
This is going to hurt.
Then again, he hasn't stopped hurting since he found Nanda at the bottom of the stairs.
He tries screaming again, as the pain rises and rises in a punishing rhythm, but this time...
This time, he makes no sound at all.

Something about Tolkien writing Samwise Gamgee as a kind of homage to the soldiers he oversaw as an officer, many of whom he saw be wounded or worse, chokes me up a little.

There is a hand at his elbow, and he shakes it off, shifting to press his back to the wall. It's cool, cold enough to make him shiver, and his shirt sticks to the sweat on his lower back as he tips his head back.
"Eli?" Antoni leans over him, eyebrows furrowed in a slight, soft concern.
Better him than anyone else, Eli thinks.
"I'm fine," Eli says, voice low. The music of his natural singsong, the softest hint of an accent from the mystery of his birth, is buried beneath a hoarse, husky overlay. His throat aches, stabbing sharp pains with every swallow, making him wince. "Just thirsty."
Antoni’s lips thin, and there’s a tension to him. Eli’s eyes roam slowly over the lines of his shoulder beneath the heavy sweater he wears, linger on the single ancient round scar on one side of his neck. “You are sick,” He says, softly. “I know sick.”
“Oh, do you.” Eli pushes himself to his feet, using the wall for balance, and when Antoni wordlessly offers a hand he pulls away from it, moving further down the hall towards the kitchen.
He wishes he didn’t have to shuffle not to feel like he’ll fall over. It doesn’t help him seem as fine as he’d like.
“You should… you should rest,” Antoni says, a little helplessly, as he shadows Eli down the hallway. Eli sets his jaw and ignores him. The rough touch of the hallway along his fingertips hurts. His skin feels stretched over empty air inside him, and he shivers at something like a breeze.
“I want a drink of water,” He says. He can’t keep his voice low enough to disguise the roughness of it. There’s a pressure above and beneath his eyes, throbbing as it pushes against the bone beneath. He has to squint against the ache of the light. “I’ll lay down after that, An-... Antoni.”
“Please,” Antoni says, and there’s something tentative and nearly tremulous in his own voice. “Pozhaluysta, Eli, let me help you.”
Eli pauses, and the corner of his mouth twitches, the faintest, faded hint of a smile. “Mne ne nuzhna tvoya pomoshch', Antoni.”
He risks the dizziness to turn, just so he can see the look of shock on the other man’s face. “You-... you-... ty govorish' po-russki?”
“Da.” Eli laughs, raspy and barely-there, and wanders into the kitchen. It feels like it’s taken weeks, months, ages just to walk from his room in the back into here. Sunlight streams in from outside, and he shudders against the stabbing pain of a memory of a warmer sun in a hotter place, of a different kind of hand pressed to his forehead. A whisper of a woman’s voice, Asahaay bachcha. Ab so jao, Jairaj.
Her eyes and skin and hair were all so dark, blocking out the hated, hurtful sun when he burned, warm as a blanket when he froze. Warm hands on cold skin, cool palm to sweating forehead or the back of his neck.
He tries to forget it as quickly as he can, to let her voice slip back and away. He can’t take the migraine that comes with memories, on top of all his other hurts. The bones of his very thighs ache as he makes his shuffling way to the fridge, opening it up.
“Since-... since when do you-”
“My master,” Eli says, pulling out a bottle of vaguely-gray-blue Gatorade, twisting off the top and drinking the cool, sweet liquid until it runs out of either side of his mouth. “Loved opera. We went to the Bolshoi at least once a year, the two of us. He had friends who were Russian. I learned to pass the time. There was…” He hesitates, staring at the Gatorade. Somehow, half of it is already gone. “There was so much time.”
Antoni is quiet, but he moves to the side, setting the kettle on the stove full of water to boil, pulling down two mugs. Eli watches him with hazy eyes as he opens two different boxes of tea, the elaichithat Eli prefers, heavy and sweet with cardamom and ginger, his own strong black tea. “The day gets away from you,” Antoni says without looking at him.
Eli considers escaping back to his room from this… this moment that comes between them, uncomfortable intimacy.
Instead, he turns and leans against the fridge, lets the cold of it soothe the burn of his skin right through his shirt. “There are too many days,” He says, wiping at his mouth, looking down to find drips of Gatorade soaked into his shirt. Oh, well. It can join the sweat, can’t it? “Especially after my bonded was gone-... after I came back to my master. What else did I have to do, but learn while locked into my master’s bedroom?”
“Your bonded must miss you,” Antoni says, quietly. He stays on the other side of the room the span of the table and chairs between them, and Eli could cry with gratitude at the air Antoni gives him to breathe, so unlike the suffocating concern of therapists and doctors and Jakob Stanton.
“I assume he is dead,” Eli says, voice flat. “We don’t live long, away from each other. Everyone knows that.”
“But you are here,” Antoni counters, voice gentle. “You are still here, Eli.”
Eli raises his chin, jaw set, dark eyes flashing beneath the fog of his fever. “I am stronger than others.”
“Stronger than your bonded?”
His heart flutters, deep down, beneath the solid breastplate of bone where it is carefully shielded. He can withstand the blows.

Ramble of the month June 2023: Phase 2 of the Batman Begins-Led DCEU
This ramble is coming so late in the month of June simply because I wasn’t quite sure what to write about.  I had hoped to land on something a bit more general current affairs or otherwise different from my usual run of Marvel and DC-related articles, but the one idea I have in that line is very much in its infancy and will take a while to work out how best to do.  As such, I’ve decided to quickly put my alternate DCEU up to the same level as my 90’s MCU that I did a ramble for last month.
With my alternate DCEU, as those who read my March ramble will remember, the idea was that Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins is used to kick-off a wider continuity, producing what I would hope was a better, more consistent and cohesive superhero film universe.  To recap, the alternate DCEU I’ve come up with begins in 2005 with Batman Begins and works on a basis of one film a year, then two as the momentum builds, and the break-down of those films is as follows:
2005: Batman Begins
2006: Man of Steel
2007: Wonder Woman
2008: The Dark Knight, Green Lantern
2009: The Flash, Man of Steel 2
2010: Aquaman, Justice League
Going into the second stage of this alternate DCEU, the films shift into the three-per-year pattern I also use in my 90’s-based alternate MCU.  The slate for this hypothetical DCEU phase 2 breaks down like so:
2011: Wonder Woman 2, Green Lantern 2, Green Arrow
2012: Hawkman, Batman/Superman, Aquaman 2
2013: John Constantine, The Flash 2, Suicide Squad
2014: Justice League 2, Green Arrow 2, Batman: The Long Crusade
 As you can see, solo hero film sequels make up a fair chunk of the phase, but so do introductions for more solo heroes, and we also get more films based around teams and ensemble casts.  How do these then interconnect to tell a story?  Well so far, Batman’s first two solo films went much the way Nolan made them in real life, but with the cover-up of Harvey Dent’s crimes, etc. in the Dark Knight being done in a pro-Batman way, enabling his inclusion in the Justice League.  Superman got his solo introduction in an earlier version of Man of Steel, then better defined himself with the aid of Martian Manhunter against the likes of Lex Luthor and Metallo in a sequel.
 In turn, Wonder Woman’s origins remain very much World War I-centric in this film-verse, the Flash gets his introduction in a clash with the Rogues instead of doing Flashpoint, while Green Lantern goes through a revised origin based on the ret-con done when Hal Jordan was resurrected in the comics.  As for Aquaman, that film is designed around the 2018 version, but changing some elements as well (Aquaman learns about his Atlantean origins as an adult, his mother is only usurped rather than executed, etc.)  This all then leads to a Justice League film where the League battles the White Martians, based on Grant Morrison’s JLA: New World Order.
With this as our foundation point, let’s look at what the phase 2 films offer.
Wonder Woman 2 (2011) Directed by Gates McFadden
Diana/Wonder Woman = Kate Beckinsale
King Faraday = Bradley Cooper
Maxwell Lord = Zachary Quinto
Barbara Ann Minerva/Cheetah = Kirsten Wiig
Paula Von Gunther = Diane Kruger
Sensei = Chow Yun-Fat
This film borrows only slightly from Wonder Woman 84 of the real DCEU.  It involves Diana, Maxwell Lord, Cheetah and the Dreamstone, but a lot about it is also changed.  The film is set in the 1960’s during the Vietnam war, and Wonder Woman is coerced into helping government agent King Faraday hunt down rogue businessman Maxwell Lord and Nazi war criminal Paula Von Gunther, both of whom seek the Dreamstone. The villains are also accompanied by the reluctant archaeologist Barbara Ann Minerva, and their quest takes them to Nanda Parbat for the final act, bringing them into conflict with Ra’s Al Ghul’s predecessor Sensei (since Ra’s got white-washed in Batman Begins by the casting of Liam Neeson, we can’t claim Sensei as Ra’s father as per the comics).
 I’ve retained Gates McFadden as director from my alternate version of the first Wonder Woman, and Kate Beckinsale as my alternate Wonder Woman, while Kirsten Wiig is the only carry-over from Wonder Woman 84.  Everyone else is a fresh casting, and I’ve very purposely left Steve Trevor (played in this alternate DCEU by Heath Ledger to leave the Joker role for Willem Dafoe).  Comics have a bad tendency towards not letting death stick, and except for a small handful of cases, I don’t think it’s a habit the films should follow.
Green Lantern 2 (2011) Directed by Matthew Vaughan
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan = Ben Affleck
Carol Ferris = Liv Tyler
*John Stewart = Derek Luke
*Guy Gardner = Damian Lewis
Thaal Sinestro = Mark Strong
*Katma Tui = Mila Kunis
Kilowog = Tyrese Gibson
Tomar-Re = Hugh Laurie
Salaak = Dominic West
Arisia Rrab = Anna Paquin
*Boodikka = Gina Carano
*Ke'Haan = Kevin Durand
*Laira = Emma Stone
*Kreon = Ryan Philippe
Carl Ferris = Kurt Russell
Tom Kalmaku = Taika Waititi
Andy = Connor Trinneer
Biff = Josh Lucas
Ganthet = Patrick Stewart
Sayd = Glenn Close
Appa Ali Apsa = Hugo Weaving
*Lyssa Drak = Angelina Jolie
*Arkillo = John Cena
*Amon Sur = Ben Foster
*Romat-Ru = Ian McShane
 With our first GL film bringing Hal Jordan into the corps and having him and Sinestro team-up to take down Black Hand and Atrocitus, the second now has room to really play with the Hal-Sinestro dynamic. In this film, Sinestro goes rogue early on and is imprisoned by the crops, only to be broken out by members of his fledling Sinestro-Corps, the fear-wielding Yellow Lanterns that are the antithesis of the Green Lanterns.  As the Green Lanterns are rocked by the rise of the Yellow Lanterns, Hal is forced to find his trust again and recruits fellow humans Guy Gardner and John Stewart to aid him against Sinestro.
 Again, we’re keeping the director from a first film into a second, and much of the cast is retained from the earlier film.  For ease of reference, the new additions for this film are marked with asterisks, and those from Lyssa Drak down are all Yellow Lanterns; every other new character added is a member of the Green Lantern Corps.  Where possible, I’ve tried to go for notable actors who I feel can really create the sense that we’re watching two corps of ring-wielding warriors; one group very much a kind of space-police, the others more like terror-wielding space-maniacs.
Green Arrow (2011) Directed by Simon West
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow = Ethan Hawke
Dinah Lance/Black Canary = Malin Akerman
John Diggle = Gary Dourdan
Felicity Smoak = Elisabeth Moss
Robert Queen = Michael Ironside
Moira Queen = Julie Hagerty
Count Vertigo/Werner Zytle = Christoph Waltz
Tommy Merlyn/Dark Archer = Dean Cain
William Tockman/Clock King = Bill Irwin
Floyd Lawton/Deadshot = Christian Slater
Hellhound/Kai = Archie Kao
China White = Kelly Hu
The emerald archer is someone DC has constantly talked about giving a solo film to, but somehow never seem to get around to, something that’s rather surprising considering the character’s efficacy in recent years kicking off TV’s Arrowverse continuity.  As such, I really wanted my hypothetical DCEU to give this character the cinematic chance DC and Warner Brothers don’t seem to be offering. Going through various films I know to come up with a good director, I’ve landed on Simon West of The Mechanic and various other action films to lead on this one.
 For the title role, I picked Ethan Hawke based on an age similarity to the actors I’ve already picked out for Green Lantern and Flash, since Green Arrow is closer to those heroes than to most others when joining the Justice League. As such, picking someone too much younger or older risks creating a mentor/mentee relationship instead.  It also doesn’t hurt that Hawke is a good actor, and for his co-lead, co-hero and love interest, I’ve picked Malin Akerman based on her performance in Watchmen.
 Other cast members mostly vary from notable film actors to CSI alumni.  My notable options in terms of picking up anyone who has had other DC-related roles include Dean Cain (Superman in Lois and Clark: The New Adventures of Superman), Michael Ironside (the voice of Darkseid in the DC Animated Universe) and Christian Slater, who plays Deadshot in the DC Animated Movie Universe.  I’m also aware Kelly Hu plays the role of China White in the Arrow TV series, and decided this was a casting worthy of transfer into my alternate DCEU.
Hawkman (2012) Directed by Kenneth Branagh
Carter Hall/Hawkman = Sullivan Stapleton
Kendra Saunders/Hawkgirl = Jessica Alba
Carl Sands/Shadow Thief = Rupert Friend
James Craddock/Gentleman Ghost = Benedict Cumberbatch
Khufu = Adrian Lester
Chay-Ara = Naomie Harris
Hath-Set = Colin Salmon
Cinnamon = Bryce Dallas-Howard
Nighthawk = Chris Pratt
Commissioner Emmett = Robert Wagner
Stewart Frazier = Anthony Mackie
Professor Ziegler = John Rhys-Davies
Emma Ziegler = Reese Witherspoon
Hawkman is one of those superheroes who really needs his own film before you go shoving him into team films, something the people on Black Adam didn’t realise apparently.  After all, this guy is one-half of a regularly reincarnating duo, and frankly learning this has somewhat spoiled my affection for the old Justice League animated series by bringing in Hawkgirl alone.  Regardless, it’s something best done in its own film, and this time I’ve picked Thor director Ken Branagh, based on his work on both Thor and the most recent film version of Death on the Nile.
 The fun thing about Hawkman and Hawkgirl is they reincarnate, so any film focusing on the pair for origin purposes can shift between time periods, and in the process use different actors for the roles.  Black British actors Adrian Lester and Naomie Harris play the pair in their Ancient Egyptian incarnations opposite Collin Salmon, while their “wild west” incarnations are played by Jurassic World duo Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas-Howard.  This leaves the modern versions to be played by Sullivan Stapleton (300: Rise of an Empire) and Jessica Alba (Fantastic Four, Sin City).  Rupert Friend and Benedict Cumberbatch then play the modern-day antagonists, each with roots in those past lives.  A few notable actors then round out the cast in some supporting roles.
Batman/Superman (2012) Directed by Rob Marshall
Bruce Wayne/Batman = Christian Bale
Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent = Brandon Routh
Lex Luthor = Kelsey Grammer
Mercy Graves = Scarlett Johannsen
Alfred Pennyworth = Michael Caine
Lois Lane = Kate Bosworth
Dabney Donovan = Emile Hirsch
Joseph Martin/Atomic Skull = John Cena
General Swanwick = Harry Lennix
Dr Emil Hamilton = Richard Schiff
James "Jim" Gordon = Gary Oldman
Capt. Maggie Sawyer = Jeri Ryan
Insp. Turpin = Colin Farrell
Jim Harper/Guardian = Bobby Cannavale
Jefferson Pierce/Black Lightning = Jamie Foxx
Rex Mason/Metamorpho = Karl Urban
Tatsu Yamashiro/Katana = Devon Aoki
Prince Brian Markov/Geo-Force = Daniel Brühl
Jennifer Lynn-Hayden/Jade = Rachel Nichols
Amanda Waller = Viola Davis
Rick Flag Jr. = Joel Kinnaman
Floyd Lawton/Deadshot = Christian Slater
Captain Boomerang/Digger Harkness = Hugh Jackman
John Corbin/Metallo = Orlando Bloom
Killer Frost/Louise Lincoln = Amanda Seyfried
Major Disaster/Paul Booker = Dave Bautista
Parasite/Rudy Jones = Alexander Skarsgård
Count Vertigo/Werner Zytle = Christoph Waltz
Unlike Snyder’s Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, I’m not trying to do a hero-on-hero clash based on an Elseworlds graphic novel.  Instead, I’m taking my cue for this one from the DC animated film Superman/Batman: Public Enemies.  Much like that film, this one would have Superman framed by Lex Luthor for the murder of a supervillain.  As the government and public alike turn against him, Superman has to turn to Batman for aid in proving his innocence.  The government’s efforts at apprehending Superman result in the enlistment of the Suicide Squad, giving the villain team an intro ahead of their own film, and to combat them, Batman brings in the Outsiders.
 As a result, this film becomes something of an ensemble picture, which is a key reason why Rob Marshall is my chosen director.  Marshall directed the fourth instalment in the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, as well as the recent live-action remake of The Little Mermaid.  Such films doubtless give him not only experience in directing the fantastical, but also dealing with large ensemble casts.  Speaking of which, the film retains a fair number of actors from the Batman and Superman solo films of this alternate DCEU, and most notably pairs Christian Bale with Brandon Routh in the title roles.  John Cena also gets a second DCEU role, as he also appears as Arkillo in Green Lantern 2.  Both roles would be mo-cap CGI, though, so factor in appropriate voice effects for each role and it’s an easy double-cast to excuse.
 As for the two teams involved, the Outsiders have largely gone unused in film, with only the misplaced Katana turning up in the Suicide Squad film of 2016, and I’ve recast that role to Devon Aoki simply because that’s an actress I’m aware of.  In turn, the only Suicide Squad casting I’ve retained from the 2016 film has been Viola Davis and Joel Kinnaman.  The rest of the squad is either gathered from this film-verse’s past instalments (Deadshot, Boomerang, Metallo and Vertigo), or they’re new to this film (Killer Frost, Disaster and Parasite).  The squad’s selection, in turn, is about combining fan favourites with villains who can put Superman in jeopardy.
Aquaman 2 (2012) Directed by Jonathan Frakes
Arthur Curry/Aquaman = Chris Pine
Thomas Curry = Bill Pullman
Atlanna = Kim Catrall
Mera = Felicity Jones
Orm/Ocean Master = Taylor Kitsch
Vulko = Jonathan Frakes
Dr Stephen Chin = Tadanobu Asano
Black Manta = Idris Elba
Scavenger/Peter Mortimer = James Franco
Siren/Hila = Felicity Jones
Aqualad/Garth = Luke Benward
Yes folks, I’ve brought back Trek actor/director Jonathan Frakes to helm the second Aquaman film while also reprising the role of Vulko.  With Aquaman now ruling Atlantis and preparing to marry Mera, and the treacherous Orm now imprisoned, Black Manta returns for revenge, aided by Mera’s villainous twin sister Siren and human criminal Scavenger.  This film is also the first to start in on the idea of superhero apprentices by bringing in Garth, better known to comic fans as Aqualad, or Tempest to use his latter-day codename.  The cast is largely unchanged from film 1, and Siren being a twin to Mera allows for an obvious double-casting in those roles.  As a result, only James Franco and Luke Benward are new additions.  Franco, of course, is well known for roles in the Raimi-Maguire Spider-Man trilogy, the first film in the rebooted Planet of the Apes continuity and various others. Benward, by comparison, is a former Disney Channel actor with a decent filmography even by the time of this film, and he is of an age to integrate well with others I’ve cast with a view to setting up for a Teen Titans film or two down the line.
John Constantine (2013) Directed by Sam Raimi
John Constantine = Matt Ryan
Zatanna = Katrina Law
Jason Blood/Etrigan = Eddie Redmayne
Alec Holland/Swamp Thing = David Harbour
Dr Fate/Kent Nelson = Mads Mikkelsen
Inza Nelson = Tessa Thompson
Morgan Le Fey = Elizabeth Hurley
Mordred = Will Poulter
Felix Faust = Brad Douriff
Enchantress/Dr June Moone = Keira Knightley/Natalie Portman
Solomon Grundy = Andy Serkis
Having learned that Constantine is Liverpudlian in the comics, I’m certainly avoiding the use of Keanu and other non-British actors for the role in this alternate DCEU.  The Americanisation of non-US roles is something I can’t stand generally, and when it’s done to a character from any part of Britain, I get even more ticked. As such, I’ve retained the Arrowverse and DCAMU choice for the role, Matt Ryan, going into this film.  It’s largely a one-off, but the film has Constantine dealing with the return of Morgan Le Gey and her son Mordred, figures from Arthurian history, aided along the way by several other mystic heroes. Unlike the DCAMU’s Justice League Dark, this film isn’t about a team-up; rather, it’s more of an Indiana Jones-meets-horror adventure, with Zatanna and Jason Blood being the only ones along for the ride in the long-haul.
 Given the horror aspect, I’d be putting this film in Sam Raimi’s hands, and throwing in a veritable who’s who of quality actors.  For the Enchantress, I’ve actually cast two women to play the role for one very simple reason.  The Enchantress of DC lore is a separate entity from the woman she possesses, and I think casting two actresses that can appear similar to play each character is a different way to do that.  Since two people pretending to be one was a trick Keira Knightly and Natalie Portman had to pull in the Star Wars film The Phantom Menace, I think it’s a good idea to use that same casting here as an homage.  As for Bruce Campbell, I’ve not put him on the cast list but I know he’d show up in a suitable comedy relief moment.  An obnoxious American tourist Constantine could put some minor curse on for a quick laugh seems appropriate.
The Flash 2 (2013) Directed by JJ Abrams
Barry Allen/The Flash = Matt Damon
Iris West = Drew Barrymore
Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash = Jake Gyllenhaal
Wallace "Wally" West/Kid Flash = Calum Worthy
Det. Ira West = William Sadler
Dr Henry Allen = Harrison Ford
Darryl Fyre = William Russ
Capt. Singh = Faran Tahir
Patty Spivot = Cameron Diaz
Tina McGee = Pauley Perrette
Francisco "Cisco" Ramone/Vibe = Wilmer Valderrama
Ralph Dibney/Elongated Man = Ben Savage
Sue Dearborn = Mary Elizabeth Winstead
Mari McCabe/Vixen = Lupita Nyong'o
Captain Cold/Leonard Snart = Rob Lowe
Heatwave/Mick Rory = Ron Perlman
The second Flash film sees the Flash becoming increasingly established as Central City’s de facto superhero, even inspiring other metahumans to become heroes.  However, it isn’t long before Barry finds his new life in jeopardy, thanks to the sociopathic nature of time-travelling speedster Eobard Thawne, otherwise known as the Reverse-Flash.  This film brings back much of the first film’s cast, with Jake Gyllenhaal taking on the villain role as Wilmer Valerrama (NCIS), Ben Savage (Boy Meets World and Girl Meets World) and Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever) play the hero roles. Mary Elizabeth Winstead then rounds out the roles by playing Sue Dearborn, the love interest for fledgling hero Elongated Man.
 Director-wise, we’re again unchanged from original to sequel; I picked Abrams for his work on the rebooted Star Trek films, and for now I think he’s still the one to direct the Flash.  That’s not to say all sequels in this film run, or in my 90’s-based MCU, will retain the same director for each hero or team.  It just happens that in this case, I’ve kept a lot of the titles consistent because I honestly think the less you can change your director and any recurring cast roles, the better.
Suicide Squad (2013) Directed by Guy Ritchie
Amanda Waller = Viola Davis
Rick Flag Jr. = Joel Kinnaman
Floyd Lawton/Deadshot = Christian Slater
Captain Boomerang/Digger Harkness = Hugh Jackman
Killer Frost/Louise Lincoln = Amanda Seyfried
Hellhound/Kai = Archie Kao
Mirror Master/Sam Scudder = Terrence Howard
Garfield Lynns/Firefly = Chaning Tatum
Ben Turner/Bronze Tiger = Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje
Sameer Park/Copperhead = Sendhil Ramamurthy
Siobhan Smythe/Silver Banshee = Katie McGrath
Bette San Souce/Plastique = Elisha Cuthbert
Eric Needham/Black Spider = Mehcad Brooks
Brian Durlin/Savant = Michael Rooker
Roman Sionis/Black Mask = Ewan McGregor
General Wade Eiling = Clancy Brown
King = Cuba Gooding Jr.
Queen = Jennifer Lopez
Jack = Mark Whalberg
Ten = Jaimie Alexander
Ace = Chris Hemsworth
For this film, I feel it’s to go with Guy Ritchie as director, as his work directing films like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels makes him a natural fit for covering a film that’s all about criminals.  In this film, the plot would be about Black Mask hiring the Royal Flush Gang to steal classified military intelligence.  The intel is in three parts, and the Suicide Squad is called in. Their mission; either capture the Royal Flush Gang for interrogation or follow them to find out where Black Mask is hiding the intel.  Again, this is a huge ensemble cast, and the film will inevitably involve a body-count by its very nature.  The cast includes a huge number of notable actors, some of which are brought over from other roles in TV’s Arrowverse.  The only repeat from the DCEU not previously mentioned in this ramble is of course Michael Rooker as Savant, which is a transferred casting from James Gunn’s Suicide Squad film.
Justice League 2 (2014) Directed by Alan Taylor
Bruce Wayne/Batman = Christian Bale
Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent = Brandon Routh
Diana/Wonder Woman = Kate Beckinsale
Green Lantern/Hal Jordan = Ben Affleck
Barry Allen/The Flash = Matt Damon
J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter = Chiwetel Ejiofor
Arthur Curry/Aquaman = Chris Pine
Vandal Savage = Gerard Butler
Talia Al Ghul = Marion Cotillard
Giganta = Hayley Atwell
Amazo = Steve Austin
Professor Anthony Ivo = Brent Spiner
Lex Luthor = Kelsey Grammer
William Hand/Black Hand = Wes Bentley
Weather Wizard/Mark Mardon = Michael Fassbender
Black Manta = Idris Elba
Solomon Grundy = Andy Serkis
Alfred Pennyworth = Michael Caine
Lois Lane = Kate Bosworth
Snapper Carr = Josh Duhamel
Iris West = Drew Barrymore
Carol Ferris = Liv Tyler
The second Justice League film follows a similar tact to the animated DC film Justice League: Doom.  In other words, a major villain manages to uncover contingency plans Batman developed to take down his fellow heroes if they went rogue. These plans are then adapted and used against the Justice League.  Both films are based on JLA: Tower of Babel, but in our film as with the animated version, the lead villain role shifts from Ra’s Al Ghul to Vandal Savage. However, I’ve included Talia because we’re now way off Nolan’s original Batman trilogy, and yet I still want to see the thread of Talia’s vengeance on Bruce retained.  Also, Talia stole Batman’s contingency plans in the comics, so it’s a good way to get back to being true-to-source.
 Much of the cast is recurring from past films, with only a handful of the villains being fresh additions on this film.  I also add in Amazo and his creator Professor Ivo as opening villains, with Amazo later coming back for certain plot-points.  Since Amazo is an android, I thought it would be fund having Brent Spiner, who played Data in Star Trek: TNG, appearing as Amazo’s creator. The whole thing is directed by Alan Taylor, who I think did a good job on Thor: The Dark World despite popular opinion to the contrary.  I’d be curious to see how he handled a Justice League film instead, especially one with all the twists and turns this one would involve.
Green Arrow 2 (2014) Directed by Simon West
Oliver Queen/Green Arrow = Ethan Hawke
Dinah Lance/Black Canary = Malin Akerman
John Diggle = Gary Dourdan
Felicity Smoak = Elisabeth Moss
Roy Harper/Speedy = Cameron Monaghan
Moira Queen = Julie Hagerty
Grant Wilson/Ravager = Andrew Garfield
Carrie Cutter/Cupid = Serinda Swan
Prometheus = Sebastian Stan
Dr Arthur Light = James McAvoy
Barry Allen/The Flash = Matt Damon
Superman/Kal-El/Clark Kent = Brandon Routh
Diana/Wonder Woman = Kate Beckinsale
In this second Green Arrow film, the Justice League approaches Oliver Queen about replacing Batman on the team.  Oliver, however, initially refuses because while he disagrees with Batman’s methods, he is aware the League lacks sufficient regard for the idea that fail-safes should exist.  When a group of villains then manage to make three of the League go rogue, it falls to Green Arrow, Black Canary and young hero Speedy to set things right.  While things kind of work out and result in Ollie joining the league, Wonder Woman leaves because she isn’t willing to concede her objection to the idea of checks and balances.
Once again, the director and most of the case are consistent from film 1 to film 2. Beyond the guest appearances of some League members, the new cast is all bound up in addition of Cameron Monaghan (the proto-Joker in TV series Gotham) and our quartet of villains.
Batman: The Long Crusade (2014) Directed by Matt Reeves
Bruce Wayne/Batman = Christian Bale
Alfred Pennyworth = Michael Caine
Richard “Dick” Grayson/Robin = Patrick Schwarzenegger
Lucius Fox = Morgan Freeman
James "Jim" Gordon = Gary Oldman
Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin = Sean Astin
Arnold Stromwell = Steve Buscemi
Rupert Thorne = Vincent D'Onofrio
Tony Zucco = Robert Iler
Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow = Cillian Murphy
Dr Lesley Thompkins = Rene Russo
Det. Harvey Bullock = Donal Logue
Det. Renee Montoya = Penelope Cruz
Det. Crispus Allen = Djimon Honsou
Det. Peter Foley = Matt Le Blanc
For the third solo Batman film, and the last one in this phase, things change a lot more.  First off, the directorial reins transfer to Matt Reeves.  Second, we’re dealing with a Batman who is on the outs with the Justice League following the events of JL2.  At the same time, a gang war is brewing in Gotham between the Penguin and rival mob bosses Arnold Stromwell and Rupert Thorne, following Black Mask’s fall in Suicide Squad.  In the midst of all this, Stromwell’s nephew Tony Zucco returns, having killed the parent of Richard “Dick” Grayson a year earlier.
 The film is essentially looking at Batman trying to distance himself from others due to trust issues, only to be made to realise he can’t do this, and just because some of his fellow heroes haven’t understood him or his ways doesn’t mean others don’t understand him.  Again, we have a fair number of returning cast members, but also plenty of new ones, include Patrick Schwarzenegger, son of the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger, taking on the role of Robin. The film also expands Batman’s supporting cast by working in more notable members of the GCPD and Bruce’s surrogate mother figure, Dr Lesley Thompkins.
 So, that concludes the second instalment in our alternate DCEU for the time being. Hopefully I can think of enough other things to discuss in future rambles to keep us from coming back to this or my 90’s-based MCU too soon.  However, if there’s sufficient positive response, I can always come back to both in due course.  Anyway, until the next ramble, ta-ta for now.

i was listening to ep 24 and was hit in the middle of my forehead with a modern world au idea in which Arthur is a mercenary hired to steal an item from a wealthy guy and John is his assistant who helps him with tech stuff, and they only talk via a comm link. Arthur has never actually met or seen the guy and is pretty sure he uses modulators to disguise his voice. They're on the job like any other day, when suddenly there's a commotion on the other side and John stops responding. Arthur has to investigate his kidnap, only he doesn't know anything about the guy.

I will never in my life understand people who will jump to defend DmC 2013 even though I have warmed up to it and think it's a decent action game, fucking what the hell do people see in it that they wanna go out their way to defend.
Even ignoring the pre-established series it's rebooting, the story of the game is literally "wake up sheeple" with zero depth, dialogue on par with Netflix's Cowboy Bebop, and the worst female support character I've seen in anything.
Focusing on her for a sec, Kat's whole deal is being traumatized and vulnerable to be used by Vergil so Dante can save her in the end and the director seriously bragged about her not being just "some hot girl with a bazooka".
The game is fine, maybe you like the controls and the aesthetic better than the main series i can get that but goddamn why the fuck do people think this is some underrated gem that didn't deserve the hate it has

Magical Mayhem
Day 16: Magic @maribatmarch-2k21
Ao3 *** Here *** Part 2 *** Part 3
~~~~~~~~~~
Marinette may or may not have been messing with the spells in the grimoire. She also may or may not have accidentally reversed the spell binding the kwamii to the miraculous. In honesty that relieved almost all of her stress and weight that was thrust on her.
Unfortunately, the kwamii decided to each placed a blessing on her. That had led her to her current predicament. Sure Hawkmoth had been defeated but that didn't solve the liar Rossi problem. Her previous friends were no more than acquaintances at this point. Her own parents believed the liar over her.
So when her classmates, Lila finally getting her hands dirty, pushed her down the stairs, she let her magic wash over her. A duplicate fell and crumpled at the foot of the stairs. The right leg and left arm were in an unnatural position. Blood pooled from the head, growing ever larger. She herself went invisible and floated above them all.
No one moved, no one said a word. Not until a scoff and footfalls of one Alya Cesaire descended the stairs. "Really girl," she stepped into the pool of blood and grabbed the girl by her hair pulling her up. “Stop faking for attention. No one believes you.”
“Miss Cesaire, please have some respect for the dead!” Madame Mendeleev broke the tension, a sharp breath was heard from the collective in the courtyard.
“She is just faking it.” Again she rolled her eyes. No one noticing the three silvery orbs circling the scene, nor that every phone, computer, tablet, television was streaming this event.
“She is unresponsive, there is no movement of her chest meaning she isn’t breathing, and... and the pool of blood is too big. She is dead.” The teachers voice was no more than a whisper but it didn’t need to be.
"She can't be..." Alya dropped the girl’s corpse she just noticed she was holding up, bloody foot prints retreated with her.
"But I am dead." Marinette said as she floated above the corpse, glowing slightly, transparent, and wispy. "For those of you who don't know me, my name was Marinette Dupain-Cheng. I was the Grand Guardian of the Miraculous jewels. I was the hero of Paris, Ladybug." She smiled sadly around her.
"End Transmission." she blinked out of existence. "oh wait." She returned. "A blessing and a curse." Two of the three silvery orbs descended and landed in each hand. One exploded in green and landed on those who hurt her not only physically, mentally, and emotionally. The other spread red and descended on most of the world's populace. "And freedom." the last orb showered silver and all Kwamii on earth were freed. The spells to bind them erased.
And with that she once again let her magic flow within her body and left Paris behind her.
In hindsight, that might not have been the smartest idea. Magic attracts magic after all. Granted she found that out when she was submerged in glowing green water.
She pulled herself out of the pool. "Okay note to self, don't do that again." she muttered to herself, but her exit was short lived as there was a sword at her neck.
"Who are you and how did you get in here?" A boy's voice growled at her.
"Alternate question." She offered, "Where am I and what is that?" was asked while pointing at the pool she just exited.
He didn't respond to her, at least not verbally, instead he pushed her to get up and walk with the sharp end of his blade. She didn't see anyone on the walk, but there were constant auras, it was almost claustrophobic. They got outside and then things clicked.
She was no longer in her world, the fact that the acid green pit was fueled by chaos magic, was an after thought in her mind, to the cliche looking ninjas in front of her.
"Nanda Parbat." slipped from her lips. "The home of the league of Assassins, The Lazarus Pit," turning to the man in front of her, “Ra's Al Ghul, the Demon's head," turning back to the boy. "Damian Wayne, the next Robin." The two males hadn't responded to her. "Great I got pulled into a comic book world." she huffed in a muted whisper.
"How do you know that child." was sneered by Ra's finally breaking the silence.
"I apparently know a lot of this world," sass not failing her, she shot back. A vision of an attack that would happen in maybe an hour flashed in her mind. "Have fun with that Ra's." she smirked. "see ya around Wayne." she teleported away.
This time she had a better handle on her powers, granted she never really used her powers before this. She just knew what they where and what they did. How she had so much control may have been because of how magic worked with the miraculous in her world. But here it was completely different, magic had another way of working. Which might be how she had popped into a red cushioned armchair in-front of a roaring fire and two people?
A man had blue eyes, blonde hair and a kept, unshaven looking beard. He wore a long tanned duster jacket, white button down, tie, and slacks. And a woman(?) who had purple skin with darker purple markings. A fin? horn? crest? in a darker purple still. With a magenta cape.
"Um... Hi," she awkwardly. "I'm still trying to figure all this out."
"You are not of this world are you?" The woman asked. Mari shook her head in response. "What world are you from?"
"I have no idea and before this morning I never thought I'd answer that." she chuckled nervously.
"Bloody hell, then how did you get here?" The man decided to cut in.
"Would you believe that tiny pocket gods blessed me with magical powers and now I'm here in a completely different world, which I could have sworn was a comic book world before this morning." she began to ramble.
"Kwamii." The woman spoke. Marinette had looked up and nodded to the question. Was it even a question, it seemed more like a statement. But the woman continued after her nod. "They are present in a few other universes but not in this one."
'Huh' was the answer by both Marinette and the man.
"Your raw capabilities and affinity with magic seems to have been amplified by these blessings." the woman continued.
“Alright why don’t you show us what you can do love," standing, grabbing a cup from next to him, he waved her to follow. "Name's Constantine. Your's?"
"Marinette." she answered swiftly with a small smile.
"That," pointing at the woman, "is Black Orchid, or a bloody pain depending. She is the incarnation of the house itself."
"House?" she mused aloud. “Oh the House of Mysteries. I think I remember a bit but not much on it,” she scrunched her nose and tried to remember. “Ya no apart from the Dark timeline movies I've got nothing."
"What do you mean by that child," Orchid asked from beside her.
"Well in my original world this was all a fictional, a world with several incarnations and timelines." She rambled again.
As they entered a large room, Constantine had her attempt several spells. He then proceeded to lecture her on correct pronunciations, visualizations, and everything in between. Suffice to say that was how her magical training started in this new world, her new start.
She is down one abusive environment. Gained powers she is just learning to control. Got a new drunk uncle who can function like her on just as much caffeine and limited sleep. A sentient home that may be smarter than her phone and even more badass. And the knowledge that an asshole demon head just got his ass kicked. Unfortunately, she knows how this will play out, but just how much can she change without disrupting the timeline too much. Or if this even one of the timelines written out from her world, guess she will just have to live and find that out herself.
Ship your mutuals not who they want but who will need?
tysm for asking this nonnie! and i think i made a freaking headcanon for my moots 😅 okay so…
@manjikkai
i tried so hard not to ship this mf with shinichiro but i can’t, i simply can’t lmao i feel like i’m committing a sin if i wed reiny to another man ;_;
bcos shinichiro would listen to reiny’s rambling, like her talking about the things that excite her or upset her, with pure and utter adoration in his eyes
he would also try to learn her new obsession, if there are any, and he would probably make a great memory out of it like if she’s stanning enhypen now, shinichiro would mf learn and mimic the dance choreography of fever (omg yes) for her
i can see them wearing matchy-matchy clothes during their anniversaries and my insta stories would blow up because of their sweet vlogs <3
@sugokawata
so reiny shipped sugo-chan with smiley and i agree wholeheartedly bcos they’re one and the same — like chaotic soulmates
but as the true nanda mf that i am, i would ship her with angry
yeah like smiley would probably give her what she wants but angry would absolutely give her what she needs (ma you’re so hot for this, toying with the twins’ hearts omg)
i see sugo-chan fooling around and angry would just let her but then at the end of the day, he’d ask her if she had her fun while he’s taking care of her…like when he’s brushing her hair or vice versa
i just know that angry would allow her to be the bubbly person that she really is and he will be her safe haven if she ever needs it <3
@baji-san
i think i am stretching this too far but…chifuyu!
not me partnering you w chifuyu now lmfao
okay let me explain: key is the absolute sweetheart! and no one will be able to change that and omg wife, i am so in love with you ;_;
and i just know that chifuyu would be too bcos she’s so kind and warm and caring like he’s w h i p p e d for seeing those amazing qualities on her
and chifuyu would always cheer her up when she’s tired from work. he would never let her do the chores when she’s at home and he would probably give her a massage or two bcos like i said he’s whipped for our dearest key <3
@saturnmitsuya
this is gonna be a surprise to your fave babe but i’ll ship you with his older brother, ran <3
saturn is an insatiable sweetheart and the only one i could think of that could keep up with her sexy ass is ran
like she could be feeling soft right now but then she could be wilding on the next and i think ran is the type of person who actually digs that (ooh kinky)
and he would tease her the same way saturn would tease him and i just know that the two of them would be a hot but a freaky combination /pos whew
@kuroiza
hmmm wakasa (is mine lol /j sksks) but fr tho, i would say draken!
simply bcos sem is really passionate about the things she loves so i wanna match her with someone who’s able to absorb that cute excitement
and we all know that draken is an amazing moral support
like i could imagine them casually talking about trivial things and then suddenly they would laugh bcos who knew they would have the same thoughts about it
and draken would also remind sem to take a breather when she’s being too hard on herself, you know being the passionate person that she is (this is just my impression of sem so…hehe)
@uuden
i’ll ship eve w me! thank you very much /j
she’s always surprising me w her moves that i wanted to take revenge this time lol
anyway, i would ship her with mitsuya
both are hardworking so i guess it’s only fair that eve needs someone who would understand her busy schedule
and it’s a plus that mitsuya’s love language (in my hc ofc) is words of affirmation so i just know that he would reassure her whenever she feels burnt out from doing her plates or other college stuff
and if one of them gets lonely bcos of the busy schedule, i just know mitsuya would never let it ruin what they have…so eve, expect to have an impromptu date night w mitsuya <3
@harupill
ngl, i found sennie’s match-up to be the hardest one
bcos all this time, i’ve just been screaming tokrev w her and not even once have i asked her about other things and omg sennie i’m so sorry
and that’s why i couldn’t think of a right character that would suit her needs :( but i would like to say kakucho as a probable candidate for our smart sennie…uhh sumimasen haruchiyo
the calm and collected energy of kakucho would keep sennie on her toes i think and omg this might be my new ship but again, sorrymasen haruchiyo…
@kawaragi
i think baji would be well-matched with keith’s needs
his bold and adventurous persona would bring these two together and i can imagine them going to different places just to create funny and good memories
i feel like keith is a memory collector so yeah there’s that
oh and another one who would probably spam my insta stories with their perfect dates — major uwu
and i think the two of them would burst an out-of-this-world energy once they gush about song and sang, they’re keith’s rabbits btw <3
@tokyo-fukushu
my brain juice is drying up with all these thinking so i’m sorry if i’m not making sense anymore ;_;
anyway, i’ll partner lou with seishu
bcos a genuine soul like seishu would absolutely love to take care of an industrious soul like lou
he would be her human reminder and would always be straightforward in berating her when she’s pushing herself too much to her limits
seishu would probably compliment her dedication too every once in a while, but he’d be the one to blush instead of lou <3 qt
i’m sorry if i missed a few others!! 😭 so sorry…
