The way nandor takes responsibility, we don't get to see it from any other character in the show and it's not sth we expect to see from a former warlord. He blamed himself for the Sire's escape too even tho it was technically Nadja's fault. Which reminds me, the way he called for a press conference then to handle the situation and the speech he gave was very reminiscent of the way he tried to gather everyone in this episode and make them all work together. Call him dumb all you want, but nandor also knows how to act like a commander and give inspiring speeches. He also knows his way around swords and knives. Which is very hot of him. And he does all of this while looking extremely pretty. So many points in his favor honestly!

i dont understand people on the wwdits fandom hating on nandor / nandermo ship, yall act like as nandor was the only problematic bitch in the series. Like, they are all problematic???, that is what is great about the show??. Dont get me wrong i loooove to see sweet moments between the characters and of course sometimes i want to punch all of them in their faces for acting like asholes to each other (specially when nandor and nadja are mean to guillermo and collins robinson) but part of the escense of the show is that nandor, laszlo, nadja, guillermo and collins are ALL PROBLEMATIC, THEY ARE A PROBLEMATIC FAMILY, THEY ARE ALL MESSED UP PEOPLE. NONE of them can be actually called a "good person" (remember that guillermo killed both vampires and humans and never felt guilty about it, he even brought one of his childhood friends to the house so he could be eaten by vampires, he has stealed, has manipulated nandor and others to his own benefit, has considered killing nandor multiple times before anyone realized he was a vampire killer, and so on.

I didnt ship nandermo in the first seasons because the power dinamic between them was so inequitable, but after guillermo started being his killer self in front of the rest and gained self confidence the power dinamic between nandor and him totally changed. Nandor is a bitch with guillermo sometimes but Guillermo can be a bitch too and he is way smarter and more powerful than nandor and could easly overpower him (as he alredy did twice) .

If you want a show where the main characters are unproblematic and have all healthy and "normal" relationships this show is just not for you! it has never been since season 1!

This show is about messy crazy bitches who sometimes cant stand each other and have lots of problems but cant be whitout each other because they love each other (in their own problematic way). Even if i wish too that guillermo was treated better by EVERYBODY in this show (specially by nadja), i cant imagine a wwdits where they all arent at least a little toxic to each other. This is not a cute queer romantic story, this is a story about problematic toxic af, freaky queer bitches who love each other just the way they are even when they cant stand each other. Stop being so boring and expecting all queer media to be unproblematic af and all queer ships to portrait a perfect romantic ilusion between super sweet and caring characters who would never act selfishly or hurt each other.

Character Growth Analysis: Nandor vs. True Love

I’ve seen people talk about Nandor’s personal growth in S4E9 in terms of him almost admitting he was wrong and wanting to make things right with Guillermo, but I haven’t really seen anyone discuss this line he says when he’s letting Freddie-Marwa go:

Perhaps true love is about more than wishing for someone who likes all the things you like.

Of course the second part of the sentence is him reflecting on the disastrous wish he made, and we’ve gotten lots of analysis on that. But let’s unpack the first part about true love.

At the beginning of the season, Nandor is searching for his “one true love,” a possession. He describes his ideal version of a “one true love” for us in great detail during the Bachelor sequence in E2 - they need to be merciful, horny, a good listener, etc. Then once he chooses Marwa, he often refers to her as his “one true love” - again, used as a possession. Nandor’s view of “true love” is essentially an objectified person that fits his criteria. Every other time he’s mentioned love at all, which is A LOT in the past two seasons, it’s been a thing he can obtain.

In this quote, he’s not speaking about a person anymore. He’s no longer describing his ideal object of “true love”. He’s talking about the emotional concept of true love. He’s no longer saying “I’m searching for love” or “I want to find love.” He’s not saying “perhaps my true love is more than just someone who likes what I like.” In this line, true love is not a current or potential future possession - it’s his own emotion. He’s comparing the concept of true love to his past actions, thereby finally acknowledging that true love is something he can partake in. For once, it’s not just something that can come TO Nandor, but something that can come FROM him.

This feels so meaningful to me! This is maybe the first time that Nandor has discussed true love in an unselfish way, as something he can exhibit. So, what’s he thinking here? If true love is more than just wishing for someone who likes what you like, then what is true love to him? In context, it seems like Nandor is hinting that part of true love is being selfless enough to support someone in their pursuit of their dreams, and to give up something you want for someone else’s sake…and though his execution of these ideas is fucking awful, I can’t say I disagree with the intention!

S4 was supposed to be about Nandor “finding” love, and I think many of us contrasted that with him “searching” for love in S3, and assumed the culmination of that would be that he realizes his “one true love” is Guillermo. But based on this quote, I now feel like the real contrast needs to be between Nandor “finding” love for himself and Nandor showing love to others, and I think this may be the change in direction he needs to start on a path of growth and healing in season 5. Yes, he’s still going to be a murderous vampire, I never want that to change - but his outlook on love and loving relationships might shift to be closer to how Nadja and Laszlo love and support each other, and this is the foundation that would finally convince me that Nandor is ready for Nandermo to go canon.

I think there are a lot of people who don’t get the point of a comedy. Like in wwdits, most things the characters say and do is for the comedic effect. They’re there to make you laugh not to be judged on the spectrum of morality and niceness. Every time i see someone say nandor is so mean and horrible and I don’t want him to be happy im like…what? Where? Everything nandor says that sounds mean to you is extremely funny to me. And that’s the whole point of comedy. Just learn to appreciate comedy in all of its gritty and unapologetic glory. Or just you know, don’t watch dark comedy if you can’t stop judging fictional characters on real life ethics and morality.

What we do in the shadows season 1: so there are vampires and they're roomates and they're weird and wacky because they're vampires and one of them is a familiar who wants to be a vampire because he's a nerd and, the biggest twist of them all, one of the vampires is not a regular vampire but a psychic vampire and he eats boredom, isn't it weird?

What we do in the shadows season 4: the vampire killer familiar breaks with his boyfriend because he finds out he is cheating on him with an alternate version of himself who is actually the resurrected wife of his vampire master who turned her into a double of his boyfriend because he got bored of her and asked a genie to turn her into his familiar's boyfriend

Also there is drama between one of the regular vampires and the psychic vampire because the former was raising the latter's child self after such child self emerged as a baby from his corpse and grow up to be a child obsessed with performing musical numbers on stage for one of the other vampires' nightclub but since he grows abnormaly fast he returned to his adult form without memories from his time as a child and who had been his father until this point is understandably sad
