#nar shaddaa heroics

So I've been trying the entire Nar Shaddaa nightlife event to get those high roller shades. Got the high roller armor set, regular light saber, dual saber, rifle in spins, so. many. Vectrons. Cartel market certificates, golden certificates, but those shades, oh those shades have evaded me!
Log into a different server, run Mistii thru a couple heroics to get Emperor's coins, and her very first try on the Emperor's slots, THE VERY FIRST TRY she gets those shades.
Anyway, I'm glad that they are legacy bound and I can share them around. But let's face it, Mistii looks amazing in them.

An Assassin and a Sorcerer Walk Onto Nar Shaddaa...
a.k.a the highlight reel of a Shaddaa heroic run yesterday with @krisicca! Including, me trying to get an epic screenshot and nearly throwing myself off a platform to my death (I clipped on the railing and bounced back, I thought I’d never say thank god for clipping in this game but it saved me that time LMAO), me going the wrong way and aggro’ing the wrong mobs and almost getting my dumbass killed - thanks, Khem(s)! hahaha
That one guy! Who thinks he’s way cooler than he actually is. (neither of them thought that was cool or funny, bro 🤣🤣)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fun glitches! Cause apparently according to SWTOR, pistol-whipping someone to death with your deactivated saber hilt is a much less brutal solution than just running them through 🤔
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This (stupidly) brave guy, who apparently thought shooting blaster bolts at two Inquisitors and two Dashades was somehow gonna break his way. Points for effort, man, really.
Tumblr media
So many bugs! Too many bugs!! Kas (who hates bugs) was not a fan of this mission even tho it’s one of my personal favourite Heroics. Oh well, at least that was the last of them -
Tumblr media
OH GOD THERE’S A BIGGER ONE?! NOPE FUCK THIS I’M OUT - Kas, probably 🤣
Tumblr media
✨✨Vandalising Jedi property✨✨ because hey, if they’re gonna destroy ancient Sith artefacts from way before any of them were ever born then they don’t deserve nice things either - also Kas, probably.
Tumblr media
And, impromptu dance party to celebrate all the credits/loot/levels/conquest points we got! hahaha [Khem Val was not amused] x2, they refused to join in ☹️ Kas’s dance moves were a little lacking but hey, it’s the spirit that counts right? 😛

Do images like this Befuddle and Perplex you? Me too.
But the video (source of the screenshot attached) & article Swtorista posted have very thorough explanations of the 7.0 system:
How Gearing Works at Level 80 in SWTOR (video)
https://swtorista.com/articles/swtor-level-80-gearing-guide/
In my own words, based on info like this & my experiences so far, I offer a tl;dr of the current Preferred Strategies for “make gear number go up”:
Step 1 (required): -get to lvl 80
Step 1b (strongly advised): -find the blue twi’lek in the supplies/gear vendor section on fleet who has a MISSION for you (get started collecting data points for Science)
~
Step 2 (advised): -keep an eye on the silver Medals of Commendation in the currency tab (if you are getting 100k CQ points--especially on more than one alt--you'll earn them Fast) -find the CQ gear vendor > buy a set of gear on your main -congrats you're at 320!
THIS IS A TOTALLY FINE PLACE TO STOP, IF YOU INTEND ON RUNNING STORY MODE OPS! Vet mode FPs, too. You’re fine.
(I haven’t tried a Vet ops yet, but even REALLY GOOD raiders are having trouble with them right now -- 326 gear is maybe /not/ your first concern if you weren’t working on that content in 6.x before the update.)
~
Step 3 (PVP/Thyrsian/yellow jacket edition): -play GSF for the daily/weekly (can be completed MULTIPLE TIMES per week, per character) -get crates and/or spend [currencies] to climb from 320 > Thyrsian 326
Alternate Step 3 (no PVP/GSF): -pick up the world boss weekly mission & start joining the farming on Nar Shaddaa/any other WB boss on the “Priority Targets” list > get a WHOLE BUNCH of Aquatic Resource Matrix currency (people often re-share the WB weekly as members of a group finish & others are ready to repeat it! you can complete it MULTIPLE TIMES per week, per character) -spend Medals + Aquas at the CQ upgrade vendor to go extremely slowly from 320 > 326
Another Alt Step 3 (solo grind): -find activities like heroic/planet weeklies that give Aqua currency as mission rewards > grind that stuff -spend Medals + Aquas at the CQ upgrade vendor to go extremely slowly from 320 > 326
~
Step 4 (relevant only to Vet & NiM ops): -pick up the weekly for the ops you’re going to do!!! Don’t forget (it has a crate for you) -wear your complete 326 set of gear into Vet mode or NiM ops -profit (instead of lower iRating gear, you’ll pick up blu / purbl Columni & Rakata drops that are at least 326)
~
Bonus: -daily/weekly missions drop crates with a piece of gear inside. If you’re looking to gear-up an alt, those are an ez, solo-player way to get stuff that matches the iRating of 326 gear on loan from your main (with good CQ/currency gains at the same time) -you can grind-farm crates with or without wearing 326, just be sure you gear-up when you’re ready to OPEN them
Ta-da!
Other notes: -Story Mode ops fit into Step 3, but mind your accuracy stats if you’re a DPS wearing PvP/Thyrsian stuff. Lol (approx. 110% accuracy is preferred for ops DPS) -the reason everyone ignores FP gear is b/c it’s super costly in time spent to grind vs. currency acquired. Expensive upgrades. :( -if you do run a lot of FP and find yourself able to afford to buy your way up a slot that way: go for it. Numbers are numbers when it comes to higher iRating. -you DO NOT need to wear DPS gear that matches your class; Boltblaster, Targeter, Pummeler, & Force-Lord have the same overall stats -- HOWEVER: this becomes untrue if you mix & match pieces from different sets (Why? For example: 2 of the DPS types store their alacrity in their hat, the other 2 use a hat for accuracy. Each type has 1 item with crit, but it is the gloves, pants, or the boots depending which set) -at the same time: when your goal is to reach 326 iRating, it doesn’t matter. Wear tank gear, wear your healer set*. Break your stats!! Don’t let it stop you.
*(If you care about min-maxing in the future, apparently the fussy BiS meta suggests DPS should have healer braces and belt.)
If you’re struggling a lot with the details of this system, I can try to answer questions. . . @ me in the comments, or send an ask/tumblr DM.  Good luck!

Rain Plays SWTOR: Solo Galactic Seasons Help
With 6.3, the Galactic Seasons program was launched. This sets objectives for players and rewards them with companions, mounts, armor and tokens that can be used for additional goodies, including strongholds and previous subscriber award and DvL companions.
I think others have voiced the same concerns I have about Galactic Seasons. If you are a solo player - or even a group player who prefers to be with friends or guildmates - the objectives may not be to your liking. They are very clearly trying to push specific play styles which are not to everyone's taste, specifically PvP and GSF matches. Moreover they seem to specifically be pushing players to group with strangers. For example, veteran flashpoints show up as a weekly objective - but they don't count unless you use group finder.
There are some solo objectives, which closely resemble those available for conquest - kill 75 NPCs on a certain planet/category, do some heroics, etc. Some of these rampage objectives are for the starter and home worlds, which I personally think is a bad idea to extend to all players. I would not want to be playing a new toon and trying to complete quests on Korriban, Ord Mantell or any of the other starter planets right now. These objectives appear as dailies, but not the weeklies that award more points toward tokens and GS levels.
If, like me, you're only going to be doing the solo objectives you can, it's going to be slow going. If you really have an interest in one of the rewards that requires a lot of tokens, like the apartment stronghold or Master Ranos, it may be worth it to subscribe for a month or two.
To complete solo objectives, I'd urge you to remember instanced content. That way you're not fighting with other players and you're not interfering with anyone who needs those mobs to progress their story quests. Additionally:
1. You do not appear to need to complete the entire objective on one character. This is exactly how Conquest works - your kill count is shared across your legacy. For example, I needed to kill 75 specific NPCs on Balmorra. Project Hexapod has 33 (yes, I counted LOL). So I sent three characters through that heroic to get to 75. The Black Hole required six completed missions. I did the three instanced ones on a character, then did three more on another toon.
2. There have been numerous bugs. There is a running list of them on SWTOR's official forum under bug reports. To avoid getting smacked by the bugs I've been doing the kill and heroic achievements on the same planet.
This is a list of instanced quest areas that you may be able to use to fulfill some of the daily priority objectives. There's a list of instanced heroics here, too.
Instanced missions:
Empire
Black Hole: Glow; Hypermatter Directive
Dantooine: Beneath Suspicion
Ossus: Know Your Enemy (not instanced, but this involves scanning landmarks, so there is no competition for mobs or objectives)
Republic
Black Hole: Eyes and Ears
Dantooine: Pirates. Again; An Enemy Among Friends
Ossus: Remembering the Past  (not instanced, but this involves scanning landmarks, so there is no competition for mobs or objectives) Section X: Priority Containment
BOTH FACTIONS CZ-198: Anti-Toxin Acquisition/Anti-Toxin Recovery
Oricon: Hand that Sees/Eye of Terror
Rishi: She Who Devours; A Crew of Your Own (literally all you have to do for this is speak to Harlow Ricks twice)
Mek-Sha: We're Wanted Men
There is also a list of instanced heroics for both factions here. Dantooine's heroics are instanced, but are considered extremely hard for solo players to complete.
Instanced, AND lots and lots of mobs:
EMPIRE:
Heroics:
Balmorra: Project Hexapod (HAS COLLICOIDS for that 'kill bugs' objective); Resistance Sympathizers;  Settling Debts (careful - don't pull more than one mob at once in here). Thank you @tishinada for the heads up on the additional Balmorra heroics!)
Belsavis: Old Enemies (careful; the mobs in here hit hard)
Corellia: Prison Busting; Wookiee Revolt
Hoth: Static; A Traitor’s Punishment
Korriban: Armed and Dangerous
Nar Shaddaa: Botched Interrogation; Terminal Injuries
Tatooine: Blood and Sand
Taris: Last of the Tarisian Pirates
Voss: First Commando’s Call
REPUBLIC:
Heroics:
Corellia: Under New Management (the end requires you to click an objective outside the instance but there seemed to be multiple objectives, and the mobs and 99% of the heroic are all instanced)
Coruscant: Enemies of the Republic (they’ve recently added 10+ new NPCs to this, too) ; Trouble In Deed
Nar Shaddaa: Breaking Down Shadow Town ; Lab Animals; The Morgukai (careful - all the mobs in here are golds and silvers hanging out in pairs or trios, with a couple of champions thrown in.); Shadow Extraction
Taris: Rakghoul Release; Total Elimination
Tatooine: Reap the Wind
Voss: Trial of the First (exact same thing as the Imperial mission)

I think I know what’s wrong with the game’s canonical solution to Skavak. Well, aside from the game forgetting about Risha and probably other things I’ve forgotten at the moment. Aaanyway, the problem is that Skavak thinks he’s all that and a bag of chips.
Seriously, the dude has got the most out-of-control ego in the galaxy. He just kind of swans through life, fucking everyone over, and somehow coming out on top... until he makes the mistake of stealing the Smuggler’s ship.
From the point that you steal your ship back, he acts like you fucked him over, to the point of (apparently) forgetting who stole whose ship. On Taris he asks if you’re enjoying “his ship,” and it’s clear from the conversation with Feylara that he’d told her you’d stolen his ship. Even at the very end, he’s got a line about how “you’ve made my life miserable,” when he could’ve walked away at any time. The Smuggler only keeps ruining his plans because his plans all involve sabotaging the Smuggler and Risha.
He kind of deserves the heroic equivalent of: “But for me, it was Tuesday.”
What he doesn’t deserve is getting his wild west showdown with the person he’s decided is his nemesis.
Okay, yes, you’re also after Nok Drayen’s treasure, but it’s really never clear how he thinks he’s going to get it. If you need all of the special starship upgrades, so does he. He really ought to be either trying to re-steal the Smuggler’s ship or waiting until they’ve got all the plot coupons and then hiding on board like he does. If you and he each end up with some of the plot coupons, no one wins.
Of course, him having a failure of a plan is really just par for the course. He’s never been as amazing as he thinks he is; he’s just been absurdly lucky until he crossed the Smuggler. (Gods, it’s like he’s evil Gladstone Gander, or something.)
He’s the kind of villain who needs to be taken down a peg (or twenty) more than he needs to be shot. Precisely because he can die still thinking he’s amazing, but he can’t be turned over to the Republic for prosecution or be left dangling from the giant golden Hutt on Nar Shaddaa and still think he’s amazing.
(And, in fic!canon, where Jezari doesn’t even care about Nok Drayen’s riches, this is all turned up to 11. Skavak’s real rival on the hunt is Risha. Jezari’s just the transportation.)

100 Days of Writing – Day 44
Continuing with the social structure and culture of the Empire as I'm writing it in Dance:
I want to continue from yesterday’s theme of the SI and SW as popular celebrities in the Empire. I’ve written posts in the past about the SI and the betting pools on their feud with Thanaton and how Thanaton backed himself into a corner in that feud, leading to the finale.
But I haven’t spent much time on the SW and rumor and their status in the Empire, which is equally interesting if you put all the pieces together.
First, the SW must have been garnering attention at the Academy if Tremell brought her to Korriban and believed she could be rushed to catch up with an apprentice a year ahead of her in training. Then she killed the Beast of Marko Ragnos, which was such a powerful source of Dark Side energy that Sith like Baras felt its death. And she wasn't even an apprentice yet---she was still an acolyte, early in their trials. That’s the sort of thing that would be whispered about by almost everyone on Korriban, even, maybe especially, the Overseers, and it’s almost guaranteed that the Imperial troops stationed on the planet heard as well. I’d assume one of the few perks of being stationed there would be the opportunity to hear the rumors about the rising stars of the Sith order.
When you arrive on Dromund Kaas, you are Baras’s apprentice. Because he is powerful enough and at a high enough rank that he could have his pick of apprentices, you’re immediately assumed to be the best of the best, someone to start watching. (Though has anyone else noticed that the SW is his only apprentice who is not primarily a mole? A spy? I feel like the SW would wonder about that at times.)
On Dromund Kaas, Imperial troops would appreciate and remember your involvement in helping with the renegade Sith Lord Grathan (especially if you also completed the side mission to search for the missing troops that were being experimented on.) And the troops at the final camp before the Dark Temple would know that you went in...and returned alive and sane. Even other Sith who entered were affected by Kallig’s influence.
On the first two planets after that, your missions are secret. But in some ways, that works to your advantage in building reputation. The missions he gives you on Balmorra (and NS and Tattoine and Alderaan) are very self-serving. But since no one knows what you were really doing or why, what the Imperial troops know is that you fought your way into several of the most heavily guarded Republic posts, setting off explosives and taking out one of the most elite Republic units in the effing Balmorran Arms Factory itself, and without missing a beat, stormed the Sobrik Spaceport and killed or captured a Jedi Knight. Barely months after completing their trials. Absolutely some of the troops stationed on Balmorra were sending friends stationed elsewhere “No shit, you’ll never believe...!” messages. Or as the SW become well known, they brag about meeting you once (appropriately exaggerating or embellishing, of course.) Without being privy to Baras’s motives, this looked pretty damned heroic/patriotic.
Nar Shaddaa would have been a lot fuzzier, but I think there would have been some whispers about her confrontation with the Hutt representatives and her defeat of a Sith Lord. Again, maybe half a year after completing her trials, she took out a particularly powerful rising Sith Lord who the Dark Council believed could take on Baras himself. By the way, the fact they were backing Rathari to take over Baras's operations on Nar Shaddaa is telling (also, in an unrelated thought, I think there was a connection between Baras’s involvement in the external slave trade with his involvement in the slave rebellion on Dromund Kaas which seemed to exist to target a project to celebrate Darth Vowrawn. It would be quite easy for him to plant agents if he’s supplying the slaves.)
I'm going to split this post into two because it's longer than I realized it would be, lol. Tomorrow, the rest of my speculation on the SW as a celebrity in the Empire.
(Day 43 here) (Day 45 here)

Thank you for tagging me @mercurypilgrim !!!!! I got some Fun Shit in the works uwu. (Anybody who sees this and wants Share, do itttttt, it's creative-o'clock share ur shit, and feel free to tag me in it i want see o3o)
I got ARTS and i got WORDS.
ARTS: it's a baby Zal. Inquisidad but Baby. He was such an angry little kid, full of all sorts of fun things like Hate and a willingness to bite people, and a complete lack of shits to give about anything but his Want To Murder You feelings. He really mellowed out as a Sith.
Tumblr media
WORDS: from a thing i'm sort-of half writing about that one heroic on Narsh that I am Incapable of doing alone when I'm playing Mita jfdlakfa, which is, narratively, understandable as fuck lmfao. I'm not even mad that I keep getting trashed on it bc it's in-character jfdslk.
Most species had a very stab-able weak point, or a lot of them. A lot of species managed not to have a hard-to-penetrate exoskeleton. Lots of them were, in fact, very, very squishy if you came at them with a sharp object. Especially from behind. And especially if they weren’t expecting a knife between the ribs. And, generally speaking, Jedi didn’t tend to expect to be stabbed in front of their trainees, in their carefully guarded secret complex, in the squishiest, deadliest parts to get stabbed in. By an invisible Imperial. On Nar Shaddaa. Like, what the fuck? Right? There’s like, eight different absurdities built into the situation, and another four just by virtue of ‘what are Jedi doing training people in secret on Nar Shaddaa?’ So the Empire sent, to deal with this weird little problem, the one agent in their roster who was functionally allergic to the Force. Because of course they did. Fan-fucking-tastic.

That didn’t stop you before
Fill 15 of fictober and I’ve hit my target! Thank you @fictober-event for setting this all up and all the hard work you’ve put into it along the way!
Prompt number: 4
Fandom: Star Wars: The Old Republic (SWTOR)
Rating: G
Warnings/Tags: Action, canon-typical violence.
Summary: Yalla’ra and Theron take a ‘romantic getaway’, or rather, they join a planetary resistance movement and raid a Star Fortress bunker on their first date.
Most first dates probably weren't the type that involved crouching down behind street barriers, trying to avoid detection by members of Nar Shaddaa's more violent gangs. But then again, most people probably wouldn't even describe that as a date at all.
At least that was the impression Yalla'ra got from the other Alliance leaders, if the confused frowns were anything to go by when she'd started referring to a trip to meet a resistance movement as a 'romantic getaway'. She was only half-joking. Her and Theron had been together for almost a month now, but they still hadn't been on an official 'first date'. It was one reason he was joining her for this particular mission.
But mainly it was because they just worked so well together. A partnership formed way back on Carrick Station, long before any of these romantic feelings were involved. Straight away they'd found a common wavelength, whether it was him running ops whilst she went out in the field, or in the meetings spent sharing intelligence and strategising for missions. They may have had their different methods at times, but a strength was found in a shared perspective, something that clicked between them in a way that never quite had in all her years with the Jedi. The understanding had naturally transferred itself to their work in the Alliance, even in such a short time. There was no better person to join her on the mission, really. And after all, the Star Fortresses were his pet project, it would have been rude not to invite him. Chances were he would have come along anyway even if she'd said no.
And so here they were, in the mire of a territory contested by both the Black Sun and the Nova Guards, that just so happened to also be the home of a Star Fortress shield generator. As if the area didn't have enough problems.
“Take the scan Theron, I'll keep watch.” She pressed the pair of macrobinoculars into his hands and waited, her fingers poised over the cold metal hilt of her lightsaber. It always paid to stay alert, not least with the extra targets on their backs these days. The galaxy was vast, filled with eager eyes always watching from somewhere.
The macrobinoculars bleeped as the scan completed, Theron putting his fingers to his temple as the information processed in full through his implants.
“Right. I've got eyes on the generator, but those cannons are going to pose a problem. I just don't see how we get the air strikes in without too much collateral damage.” He paused, giving a deep exhale. “They knew what they were doing when they picked this place.”
Collateral damage. Arcann wouldn't have hesitated, but the Alliance needed to be different. It wasn't just about wrenching planets out from his oppression. It was about doing it cleanly, helping them find their way again, making sure the galaxy could pull itself back up after being knocked down onto its knees. And if they were good enough, they might even win some allies to help the cause, too.
Yalla'ra gritted her teeth, letting out a long, deep breath. “Looks like we're doing this the hard way then. Any ideas?”
Theron scratched at his head, his expression little more than a frown but concealing swathes of information running through his mind at any one time. That was one of the things with dating a spy. She'd grown used to his smile in the moments shared alone together, unguarded but safe in each other's arms; she had the honour of learning all the subtle changes in his expressions as he worked. In the field it was a mask that barely faltered, a mark of his focus and dedication to the job, almost unreadable as a necessity of his role.
“Okay, I have a plan,” he announced. “I'm just not sure you're going to like it.”
“That didn't stop you before.”
“Fair, but I've learnt it's better to run things past you before I go and do them anyway.”
“At least you're self-aware, I suppose,” she sighed. “What is it?”
Theron grinned, letting the sabacc face he used on the job slip for a moment. “You use that saber of yours to draw their fire, I sneak around and lay some charges, we pull back and light things up.”
“That's barely a plan. And it still means explosions. And throwing me into danger isn't very romantic.”
“Improvisation is a tactical strategy. We won't be blasting through the upper levels as well with this one. And it will be romantic when I heroically come to your aid. Now, just wait for my signal.”
“What signal?”
“You'll see soon enough. Just wait.” He planted the quickest of kisses on her cheek before running off, ducking his body low to avoid any unwanted attention. Yalla'ra crouched down, her weight on the balls of her feet, prepared to spring up when the right moment came.
A sudden bang across the street pulled the focus of the turrets for just a moment, but that was all the signal she needed. She leapt from her feet and glided through the air towards the cannons, drawing on the force with a practised ease to push her further. If so many things had changed about the world she'd woken up to, this was one thing that had stayed the same. When her lightsaber was in her hand she was a force of nature, an ability that had been honed to perfection over years spent fighting on battlefields. Channelled bursts of force energy between slashes and swipes of a blade, crashing against the reinforced metal frames of the turrets, deflecting the bolts from the cannons in a blur of glowing blue.
And the plan was working. Theron had crept into the corner of her vision, staying low as he planted the detonators at their base with precision. The cannons were so focused on her high-energy assault, they hadn't caught onto the spy sneaking about in the background.
Maybe he was right about the virtues of improvisation.
The detonators set, he grabbed her hand as they raced back from the cannons to their shelter behind the barrier, diving out of range of the blast. The charges triggered one by one in a series of bangs and bursts of fire and smoke, tearing the cannons apart along the fault lines created by her blade.
“See? Perfectly to plan.”
“Knew there was a reason I kept you around.” She leaned in, placing a kiss on his cheek and retreating with a smile before pulling herself up to her feet. “Come on, no time for rest, let's get Denz and her crew in and blast this generator next.”
“Now who's the romantic one?”

Have I mentioned I love Acina?
And with that, Mena is ready for the Heroic 4 mission at the end of the Dread Seed/Seeker Droid quest line. (She’s also ready for the Heroic at the end of the Macrobinocular/Shroud quest line, which I believe can just be soloed through brute force if you’re stubborn enough, but I keep falling on the stupid jump quest to get there on Playing in Nar Shaddaa Traffic Simulator 9000.)

Awakenings - Chapter 7 : Weaknesses
Tumblr media
Author’s Notes: Just a short one this time.
Shortly after Kira Carsen had joined the Eternal Alliance, Vette met up with her. The two young women become friends, with similar backgrounds – both having grown up on the streets of Nar Shaddaa – and with surprisingly similar personalities, most notably with respect to their sense of humor. Literally within hours, it became the norm on Odessen to see the duo side by side, whispering to each other and giggling and laughing about one thing or another.
It was on that first day, however, that Vette had taken it upon herself to take Kira on a tour of the base, introducing her to everyone she needed to know.
It proved to be a qualified success. After her performance that morning in the sparring circle with the Commander – a story for another day – she’d built up a solid amount of credibility to go along with the natural intrigue people had for the ‘new girl’, people were far more willing to accept her given her relationship with Corellan Halcyon.
People were fast warming to the idea that the Alliance Commander, their fearless leader and invincible champion, had someone special in his life. It made somehow made him seem more like everyone else.
But Kira’s tour of the Alliance base nevertheless went very well… albeit with two minor incidents of note.
One of these took place in the cantina, and – perhaps unsurprisingly – involved Kaliyo.
More on that one another time.
The second of these minor ‘incidents’ took place in the Force enclave.
Overall, it went quite smoothly. Kira knew several of the Jedi present, including Master Ranos, Leeha Narezz and Jomar Chul. None pressed the matter of her relationship with Corellan Halcyon; it was not their place to challenge whether Kira should continue to call herself Jedi. Sana-Rae, the enclave’s leader, and the other Voss had heard stories of Kira fighting at the Commander’s side in the defense of her home world years before, and Kira soon warmed to her. She was more reserved with the Sith, but even these encounters went surprisingly well.
This with the exception of her first experience meeting Xalek.
Xalek had been a valued member of the Alliance since his recruitment on Ilum months before. He had proven himself reliable on several missions and had fought heroically – if brutally – during the Battle of Odessen, when Vaylin’s forces had sought to annihilate the Alliance.
Having said that, the Kaleesh was something of a loner. Even the other Sith seemed to think of him as a blunt instrument, too focused on his own martial prowess to the detriment of everything else.
Xalek had sparred with the Commander at least half a dozen times since their initial encounter on Ilum. While he had given a good accounting of himself on each occasion, the simple truth was he felt hopelessly outclassed. Arcann (through personal power), Senya Tirall (through her experience and skill) and Lana Beniko (through sheer guile) were the only three members of the Alliance who had seemed able to challenge Corellan Halcyon in the sparring ring, and even they had proven unable to actually defeat him. Indeed, the Commander’s edge over his competition seemed to have only increased over time as he adapted to their tactics. Xalek had studied the Commander’s form (or forms) for hours on end, attempting to diving some weakness that could be exploited. He had been met by failure.
But that morning, Xalek – and most of the Alliance personnel on base – had witnessed Kira Carsen press Corellan Halcyon in an incredibly intense display of lightsaber dueling, with the Commander barely emerging victorious.
So it came to pass that Xalek, lacking any subterfuge or diplomacy whatsoever, boldly greeted Kira Carsen with a probing question.
“As the Commander’s mate, you must surely know something of his weaknesses.”
A moment of stunned silence fell upon the gathered Force-users. A few do gasp quietly while Darth Hexid clucks her tongue reproachingly. Vette – who had committed herself to making sure Kira’s ‘introduction’ ran smoothly – was horrified and started yelling at the tactless Kaleesh.
“Xalek! What are you even thinking saying something like that! Do you even – “
Before the Twi’lek can continue, Kira gently put her hand on Vette’s shoulder, then turned back to Xalek with a scrutinizing look and a raised eyebrow.
“Are you honestly asking me where he’s ticklish?”
Vette blushed at the remark, turning a lovely shade of purple. Xalek, for his own part, blinked.
Kira’s first day as a member of the Eternal Alliance went well. She had learned about the Alliance, and the members of the Alliance had learned about her.
But to this day, Xalek is still trying to chew over exactly what she was trying to tell him.
Author’s Notes: Many of us know what its like to be the ‘new kid’ at school, and the challenges someone faces in that sort of situation. Most of us probably were just trying to keep our heads down while we tried to get our bearings. I was fascinated by the challenge of someone coming to a new school, being ‘known’ to everyone, but all anyone knows about us is that we are dating the star quarterback of the football team. Or the prom queen. Or whomever.
I think Kira and Vette are a natural fit. 😊

2, 5, 13, 16 for the swtor asks?
thanks Meredith! 🖤
2. which class has your favourite visual aesthetic?
Sith Inquisitor! I love the spooky lightning goth aesthetic it leans for by default (and I absolutely indulged with my own inquisitor), it’s just *chef’s kiss* to my goth heart. and that finale with Thanaton........ love the lightning and the purple lighting
5. what discipline can you just not play
is it a tank discipline? yes? that one. 😔 I can handle tanking abilities just fine if it’s just me, but in a group? stressful. I also haven’t played powertech/vanguard in forever, so jury’s out on how well I would do in that discipline these days.
13. are there any side/exploration/heroic missions you especially love?
big soft spot in my heart for Nar Shaddaa heroics just because of how bonkers everything gets whenever I do them grouped with friends (and because Impside, most of them don’t make me feel like a bad person lol). full disclosure that I haven’t done most of the exploration quests yet, but I did really enjoy the Pubside Balmorra one; as much as the planet usually drives me crazy, it felt nice to help out the resistance.
16. who was your original main? do you still play them?
Lunakalla, my consular! the original version that was a serenity shadow has been deleted and she’s been replayed as a telekinetics sage (along with getting a background rewrite), but yes, I still play her. the replay’s going to start Makeb pretty soon. :’) she’s not my main anymore - Casoleil kinda usurped that role - but Lunakalla’s still very near and dear to my heart as my first OC for the game.

SWTOR's Double XP event is a good opportunity for me to continue Noarie's playthrough. Thanks to the combination of Double XP and the XP boost rewarded from quests, Noarie has reached level 41 when I finished Nar Shaddaa with her, despite the fact that I’m not a subscriber right now.
When I started playing SWTOR and was a completely F2P player, levelling up was quite a struggle since there was no XP boost rewards from quests back then, and even if you complete all the non-Heroic quests, you would still barely reach the intended level for the next planet.

Speaking of Nar Shaddaa, this playthrough is the first time I choose to let Watcher X escape Nar Shaddaa. I've come to sympathize with Watcher X's desire to escape Shadow Town so I decided to let him go.
As for Noarie herself, learning about what happened to Watcher X and Imperial Intelligence's treatment of him is just the beginning of a series of factors that will make her utterly disillusioned with Imperial Intelligence and the Empire as a whole, which in turn will motivate her to defect.
On a brighter note, getting the opportunity to disguise as a droid is like a dream come true for Noarie, since she has always been interested in technology and she loves droids. In my previous Agent playthrough, I had recorded Noarie perform the companion dance with Kaliyo while the former was in the droid disguise, and made a gif set and posted it on my blog here. I’m still very proud of that gif set of mine. 😀
