I’m sharing this because it puts on display something that many people experience, but don’t have the emotional/psychological tools to unpack it, and so they end thinking it’s all in their head. Also, Boze is very good at putting into words the subtleties that make this interaction narcissistic abuse, gaslighting... 101. In summary: it’s not about the bill, it’s about the principle; the mother’s unwillingness to accept that what she did was wrong, or to apologize for it.
Edit: the instances where the daughter seems to waver made me straight up want to give her a hug. She comes across like a child who just wants mommy, who’s willing to reconcile with her, forgive all of this, put it all behind her, and love mommy... if she just took a sliver of accountability

The “realistic creepypasta” is gone too far. Thanks for letting us know! My faith has been restored. Now I can freely write BEN, and Zalgo as redeemed benevolent characters! :D
I wouldn't say it's gone too far lol it's just severely annoying to see people write the pastas being *all* abusive. To me it seems like blatant ableism seeing as most if not all of them are mentally ill with often stigmatized illnesses (i.e. schizophrenia, narcissicism, aspd).
Someone tagged it like this in the post you're referencing it was sumn like "if you're gonna write them as abusive assholes, say it's because they're serial murderers and not because they're mentally ill" and that's banger advice
Most of them are more likely to jsut be aloof and not there completely instead of full on "I'M GONNA SLAP AND VERBALLY ABUSE YOU AND YOU'LL STILL STAY WITH ME BECAUSE YOU LOVEEEE ME 😈😈"
Either way write what you want I can't stop you, I just block whoever's writing stuff I disagree with

true crime channels be like Murdering is a sign of antisocial personality disorder and narcissicism so we’re going to say this guy is those two things because he is a murderer while admitting that he shows no/very little symptoms of those mental illnesses

is it ableist or stigmatizing to talk about how drug use contributes to abuse? to admit that some people only abuse their family when drunk? to call yourself an "adult child of an alcoholic"? no? then how is it ableist to talk about how NPD contributes to abuse?
people blatantly lie about NPD being a "harmless" disorder but it does actually put you at risk of being abusive. and it is possible to spread the info that not everyone with NPD is abusive without denying that sometimes NPD is a driving force behind abuse. without denying that victims whose abusers have NPD will often have key experiences in common, much like children of drug addicts, children of depressed parents, etc. if you don't like the term "narcissistic abuse" we can dance around it and find new terminology, but the fact is NPD can contribute to specific patterns and manifestations of abuse, and if you deny that fact you're not really helping anyone, you're just alienating victims. and we really don't have to pit victims of abusers with NPD against everyone who has NPD. i admit that the whole narcissicism infotainment industry contributes to that perception, but it should be possible to criticize those channels without criticizing victims speaking honestly about their abuse

Do you think Arkhamverse Riddler is capable of love? Not necessarily romantic or anything. I just mean, do you think he has the ability to care for another living thing or person? Did he ever have that ability? Could he find a way to fee those things again?
Well, to answer this we have to go back to his being a narcissist. If he is willing to do the work to treat his disorder, yes, he can care about people. If he isn't then no, because he sees people more as means to an end. If he were willing to admit he had a problem and willing to commit to the years of therapy it would take to address it, he could learn to care.
I don't know enough about narcissicism in children to really answer if he was ever able to care about others and we don't see enough of him as a child for me to really make a good guess.

Quote
How much larger your life would be if your self could become smaller in it; if you could really look at other men with common curiosity and pleasure; if you could see them walking as they are in their sunny selfishness and their virile indifference! You would begin to be interested in them, because they were not interested in you. You would break out of this tiny and tawdry theatre in which your own little plot is always being played, and you would find yourself under a freer sky, in a street full of splendid strangers.

I get random art critiques from time to time again and usually its like “i think this character would look better like this (insert opinion)” or something along those lines, and sure they’re kind of annoying because i think its just the standard to ask someone if they want a critique or not, you shouldn’t just flop them around. However, the worst part is when you find out those people are 1. Not even artists 2. Are beginner artists (i mean like, tumblr art style, still stuck drawing anime, no sense of anatomy, etc) 3. Weird hentai dudes

I send you a ❤️... now talk
I genuinely don't understand people who have an inflated sense of narcissicism/ego to the point that they think the world revolves around them and will do anything to grasp at attention when it isn't being directed at themselves.
I think it's very telling of emotional immaturity and that insecurities are being projected onto others.
